Background

Andrew Moffat (holding the 6-colour 'diversity' rainbow umbrella) leading the Birmingham Gay Pride parade last month.
Andrew Moffat (holding the 6-colour ‘diversity’ rainbow umbrella now with added trans colours) leading the Birmingham Gay Pride parade in 2019.

Why: Sex education, now called in the UK ‘ Relationships and Sex Education, is always too much, too graphic and  too soon.  Its outcomes are shockingly poor.  The UK experiences the highest levels of teenage pregnancies in Europe.  We now have the worst levels of STD’s ever.  Teen suicide is shocking, driven in part by sexual expectations and demands.  Meanwhile, child-on-child sex abuse is soaring.

RSE promotes homosexuality and deviant sexual practices.  It advances ‘trans’ ideology, encouraging children into ‘gender dyspohria’ and puberty-blocking hormones.  That all amounts to child abuse.

RSE provides an open door for ideological activists like Andrew Moffat.  He developed the gay propaganda programme ‘No Outsiders’ while working as a teacher in Birmingham schools. In 2019 he piloted ‘No Outsiders’ at Parkfield Community School off Alum Rock Road. Parents protested at the school and called for Moffat to go.   ‘No Outsiders’ is still in use in schools.

See our previous story.

Amanda Spielman has constantly condemned parental protests and called for ‘sane, rational discussion’. If a policy was ‘not working well enough’ then ‘it’s proper conversation that will change it, not protests,’ she sniffed.  It’s breathtaking establishment arrogance.  Talking to these elitists changes nothing.  Only strong parental opposition will make them leave our children alone.

Education is the responsibility of parents

The Bible makes clear that parents are responsible for teaching their children the right way to go:

Deut 11:18  Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes. 19 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Eph 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.  (KJV)

The word of God encourages modesty:

1Tim 2:9a In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel…

The Lord Jesus had harsh words for those who lead children astray:

Luke 17:2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.  (‘offend:’ Greek ‘skandalizo’, ‘entrap’, ‘lead astray’.)

RSE Guidelines

Nick Gibb MP, Minister of State at the Department for Education
Nick Gibb MP, Minister of State at the Department for Education in 2019

Parents have no right now to take their children out of ‘Relationships Education’ in primary schools, where all the homosexual propaganda happens or out of any part of RSE in secondaries.  In Wales there is no parental opt-out at all.

Back in 2019, Schools Minister Nick Gibb said: ‘… it is of course vital that, by the time they become adults and participate in British society, pupils understand, respect and value all the protected characteristics in the Equality Act 2010.’ Those ‘characteristics’ include homosexuality and transsexualism. So the Government think it’s ‘vital’ that pupils ‘respect and value’ homosexuality and transsexualism?

That was a declaration of cultural – or religious – war.

What we’ll do and why

Psalm 20:5 We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions.

We’ll pray, sing and hand out the leaflets to those attending the conference and set up our banners (feel free to bring a banner with a scripture verse) in the name of the Lord. Above all, we’ll show by our presence that Govt RSE is wrong and parents need a cast-iron opt-out from all of it.

We were present handing out leaflets in March 2019 and there was no conference in either 2020 or 2021.  So this opportunity really is heaven-sent. If you are close enough, please come and bring your church members and children and everyone. If not, pray for it to be well-supported and noticed on high.

So, if you can, please come. If not, pray!

We’ll really appreciate your support

Slide 2: What we do:
(1) We research and analyse events against scripture.
(2) Our members pray for and witness to MP’s and those in public life.
(3) We go on the streets leafleting with Evangelistic Prophetic Witness, such as when London Zoo held ‘Gay Sunday,’ a party for homosexuals, or as we did in Nairobi at the UNFPA Summit.

Slide 6: Marie Stopes Kenya have over 20 clinics, from Kitale to Nairobi to Mombasa. MSK is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Marie Stopes International, the world’s second biggest abortionist after IPPF.
Moreover, KSh 10,000 is a fraction of the true cost of an MSK abortion. Marie Stopes abortions in Africa are heavily subsidised by the West. The UK Government leads the rest with a grant to MSI in 2018 of £48 million of taxpayers’ money. (NB: The Church in Kenya could close Marie Stopes by constant prayer vigils outside its facilities.)

Jer 32:35 And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

(1) A public authority must, in the exercise of its functions, have due regard to the need to-
(a) eliminate discrimination, harassment, victimisation and any other conduct that is prohibited by or under this Act;
(b) advance equality of opportunity between persons who share a relevant protected characteristic and persons who do not share it;
(c) foster good relations between persons who share a relevant protected characteristic and persons who do not share it.

Slide 19: So, the UK then exports those evils. What David Cameron told homosexual activists at a party he gave for them in No 10 Downing Street on 22nd June 2011: ‘… an area where we have the ability to make progress, is the fact that gay people can be appallingly treated in other parts of the world, particularly in Africa.’

Slide 20: ‘(Foreign Aid) also has a spin-off benefit of giving us some moral authority (sic) in the world to talk to other leaders and governments about our relationship with them and what we expect from them. I’m very proud of the fact we [put] huge pressure on the leader of Malawi about an issue in that country but I‘m convinced we can do more. We have got the ability to speak to African leaders, African governments, about this issue that I know concerns everyone here tonight. And it concerns me.’ (David Cameron, UK Prime Minister)

Slide 21: Even before Mr Cameron’s speech, the Department for International Development had been promoting feminism and immorality in Africa:
Social Marketing of Condoms [103545] To increase adoption of safer sexual practices among youth. Country: Kenya Budget: £15,031,330 Start Date: 01/01/2003

Slide 22: Young Voices for Change (SRH Rights and HIV/AIDS) CSCF345 [105559] Young Tanzanians (10-24) know, promote and enact their sexual and reproductive rights, including with regards to HIV/ AIDS. Budget: £499,934 Start Date: 01/04/2005

Slide 23: Western money is promoting wickedness across Africa: Not one African NGO promoting Sexual & Reproductive Health & Rights (that’s abortion, LGBT and feminism) is African-funded. Every single one has its staff and expenses paid by the West. So let’s follow the money …

Slide 24: Rich US homosexual Jon Stryker set up the ‘Arcus Foundation’ to advance gay rights world-wide. He admitted the money going to Africa to promote sodomy was around $12,000,000 / year from NGO’s alone in 2010. How much is flooding in today?

Slide 25: 2015-16, top ten funders of money to Sub-Saharan Africa for LGBT (Source: ‘Global Resources Report):
1 Government of Sweden $14,454,266
2 Open Society Foundations (Soros) $4,097,626
3 Hivos (Netherlands) $3,218,406
4 American Jewish World Service $3,084,250
5 Arcus Foundation (USA) $2,716,639
6 Government of Norway $2,537,539
7 UHAI-EASHRI (Kenya) $2,323,769
8 Government of Denmark $2,166,635
9 Ford Foundation (USA) $2,144,550
10 Global Equality Fund (USA) $2,033,860
Total for just the top ten: $38,777,540

Slide 26: 2015-16, top recipients of money for LGBT (Source: ‘Global Resources Report) include:
3 Dept for Int Dev (RSA) $5,424,750
9 IPPF (London) $3,641,407
10 UHAI-EASHRI (Kenya) $3,497,086

Slide 27: Note above, Nairobi-based UHAI-EASHRI was listed as a donor of $2,323,769 in 2015/16 but a recipient of $3,497,086. A cool $1.1m went on their ‘6-25′ staff and office expenses.
UHAI EASHRI, established by Ford Foundation in 2009, claims to be ‘Africa’s first indigenous activist fund for sex workers and sexual and gender minorities’. But it is entirely funded by the West, not just by Ford Foundation (US), but Sigrid Rausing Trust & Baring Fdn ( both UK), Astrea Lesbian Fdn, Tides Fdn, Arcus Fdn, Urgent Action Fund, Atlantic Philanthropies, Fdn for a Just Society (all US) and others. (‘UHAI’ is an acronym but also means ‘life’ in Swahili.)

Slide 28: In an article on Saturday 23rd November 2019, the Nation newspaper revealed ‘Kenya’s best and worst paying jobs’ It said: ‘foreign-backed NGOs employed a total of 1,345 staff and 270 of them earned more than Sh100,000 monthly, making the agencies a magnet for those seeking or wanting to change jobs.’ Nowhere is that more true than in Kenya’s immoral NGOs.

Slide 29: In January 2011, The European Union gave a 300,000 Euro grant to promote gay rights in Cameroon to a group of pro-gay CSO’s led by the ‘Association to Defend Homosexuals‘.
Cameroon’s Foreign Minister Henri Eyebe Ayissi summoned the head of the EU delegation in Cameroon to protest against the funding of groups that “violate the laws of Cameroon.” But the grant still went ahead.

It also received funding from Open Society Foundations, Astrea, Hivos, UHAI, Coalition of African Lesbians, Kenya National Commission for Human Rights, Kenya Human Rights Commission, Kelin Kenya, National Coalition of Human Rights Defenders (Kenya), and the International Commission of Jurists, Kenya Section.

Slide 33: Kenya Human Rights Commission: From Sigrid Rausing Trust (UK):£100,000 in 2019. Also, ‘The KHRC relies on donations from individuals and from organisations such as:’ the Swedish Int. Dev. Agency, Christian Aid, Trocaire, Danish Int. Dev. Agency, UN Dev. Programme, UNIFEM, Canadian Int. Dev. Agency and Ford Fdn.
It started as a genuine human rights group, but in May 2011 the KHRC issued a report which called on the government to decriminalise homosexuality. That’s when the funds started rolling in.

Slide 34: Since 2012, the Kenyan Human Rights Commission has been primarily funded by the Ford Foundation of the USA at $200,000 per year. The KHRC even wanted to bring in a Hate Crimes Law in Kenya to prevent pastors preaching against homosexuality.

Slide 37: In 2018, Arcus gave ‘more than $15 million’ ‘to organizations working to advance social justice for LGBT people around the world.’ Recent funding from Arcus Foundation alone to LGBT-advancing groups in Kenya:
2019: Gay and Lesbian Coalition of Kenya $100,000
2019: Persons Marginalised & Aggrieved (PEMA – Mombasa) $140,000
2019: Transgender Education and Advocacy: $100,000
2014-2018: Pembizo Christian Council $391,000 (to ‘create counter-narrative to condemning religious voices’)

Slide 45: To stop evil coming from the West, we recommend:
(1) African, Asian and Caribbean members unite at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, the next is in Kigali, Rwanda in June 2020, and put down resolutions defending life and family.
(2) Forums like the African Union and the Caribbean Union should state their rejection of immorality and foreign aid intended to corrupt public morality.
(3) Make it clear at diplomatic levels that aid donors must respect traditional family values.
(4) Bring in local laws to prevent promotion of evil.

46 Local laws need to be passed to prevent money intended to promote sodomy and abortion in Africa from reaching its targets. We suggest:
(1) Make it illegal to corrupt public morality – in particular to promote LGBT or abortion.
(2) Proscribe the foreign NGO’s involved and deny their representatives visas,
(3) Require local recipient organisations to open their accounts to discover their income,
(4) Seize foreign monies promoting immorality.

Islamophobia – problem or invention?

Melanie Phillips says equating 'Islamophobia with antisemitism is 'obscene'.
Melanie Phillips says equating 'Islamophobia with antisemitism is 'obscene'.

Melanie Phillips says equating 'Islamophobia with antisemitism is 'obscene'.
Melanie Phillips says equating ‘Islamophobia with antisemitism is ‘obscene’.

Yesterday the Conservative Party launched what the BBC describes as ‘their long awaited inquiry into Islamophobia allegations within the party’.

Two days before, the Jewish Chronicle ran an article by Melanie Phillips. She said comparing ‘Islamophobia’ with antisemitism was ‘obscene’.

Criticism

Naturally, Tory peer Sayeeda, Baroness Warsi, criticised the Tories, arguing they are ‘trying to whitewash past problems.’

Meanwhile, the Jewish Chronicle was forced to defend itself from criticism by the Board of Deputies of British Jews, of all people. They said the publication of the Phillips piece was ‘an error’. They went on: “Anti-Muslim prejudice is very real and it is on the rise. Our community must stand as allies to all facing racism.”

But Islam is not a race, it’s an ideology. As the Guardian put it: Melanie Phillips said ‘the entire concept of Islamophobia was “profoundly anti-Jew” and had been invented to mimic antisemitism, adding: “To equate it with the dehumanising, insane and essentially murderous outpourings of Jew-hatred is obscene”.’

‘Denial, dismissal and deceit’

Sayeeda, Baroness Warsi wants Tory 'Islamophobia' probe to go further.
Sayeeda, Baroness Warsi wants Tory ‘Islamophobia’ probe to go further.

Baroness Warsi criticised the appointment of Prof Swaran Singh as chairman of the Tory probe. She said the Sikh Professor of Social and Community Psychiatry believes ‘that institutional racism simply doesn’t exist’.

“That gives an indication of where the inquiry will end up,” she said.

The Muslim Council of Britain said the appointment of Professor Singh was “at risk of being seen in the same light as the Conservative Party’s customary approach to Islamophobia, that of denial, dismissal and deceit”.

Islamophobia ‘invented by Muslim Brotherhood’

However, Melanie Phillips contends ‘Islamophobia’ was invented by the Muslim Brotherhood as a tit-for-tat response to antisemitism. A ‘phobia’ is an irrational fear or hatred. For example, ‘claustrophobia’ is an irrational fear of enclosed spaces. From the secularist side, homosexual activists invented the term ‘homophobia’ for the same reason. Their intention was to stifle debate and cast their opponents as deranged. Neither ideology, that of Islam nor that of Secularism, can ever be immune from criticism.

Melanie Phillips writes: ‘So “Islamophobia” appropriates to itself the unique attribute of antisemitism — that it is deranged — in order falsely to label any adverse comment about the Islamic world as a form of mental disorder.

‘The concept of “Islamophobia” is thus profoundly anti-Jew. To equate it with the dehumanising, insane and essentially murderous outpourings of Jew-hatred is obscene.’

Anti-Jewish violence

Police images of two boys accused of antisemitic abuse and violence against a rabbi in North London. Images stitched together by Press Association

A criminal event yesterday could not have better timed to illustrate Melanie Phillips’ point. Two boys were arrested after shouting antisemitic abuse at a rabbi and then beating him up. The attack happened last month in Clapton, North London.

The unnamed religious leader was set upon by two attackers shortly before 10pm on 29th November. They shouted ‘F**k Jews’, ‘Dirty Jew’ and ‘Kill the Jews’ as he walked in Amhurst Park.

Police released CCTV images. Despite the two wearing hoodies, a relative recognised the boys, aged 14 and 15. They handed themselves in to police on Tuesday 17th December. The two are due to appear at Stratford Youth Court on 7th January 2020.

Repeatedly punched

According to Jewish News, Jewish neighbourhood patrol group Shomrim said the rabbi had left the Bobov Synagogue in Egerton Road after a wedding. He was walking along Clapton Common when he was assaulted.

‘The two attackers repeatedly punched him, threw him to the ground and carried on beating him, only stopping when a member of the public intervened.’

Shomrim said the rabbi sits in a Judaic court as a judge. He was left “collapsed on the pavement, bleeding and dazed, where he lay for several minutes”.

Fellow rabbi Herschel Gluck said the victim was left “bruised and traumatised” by his ordeal.

It is quite plain from the CCTV images that the boys in question are not members of a white supremacist group. They have learned their anti-Jewish hatred from another source.

Islamophobia and Identity Politics

Antisemitism is not just an academic matter. Nor is it confined to pro-Palestinian Labour Party MPs and Momentum types. It is real, it is racist, and it finds expression in actual personal abuse and violence.

To equate it with Boris Johnson’s colourful descriptions of Muslim full-face coverings possibly requires a masters degree in identity politics.  Yes, it exists!

Hallmark Channel reinstates gay ads

Hallmark Channel has irritated both One Million Moms and US gay activists.

A greetings card company has managed to irritate both US conservatives and gay activists.

Firstly, the Hallmark Channel on Pay TV allowed adverts featuring two lesbians kissing. Secondly, in response to a petition from One Million Moms (1MM), they banned the ads. Thirdly, after a Twitter storm from the usual suspects, they allowed the offending material to continue.

Today’s is a world of identity politics. Those in the easily-offended immoral groups make a lot of noise. But they are a minute part of the market and need not be taken seriously.

Hallmark should have stood firm on their ban decision. Instead, they have provided a text-book study in how not to walk through a china shop.

Hallmark Channel

Hallmark Cards runs the Hallmark Channel through its subsidiary Crown Media Holdings, Inc.

According to Wikipedia, The channel’s programming is ‘primarily targeted at families, and features a mix of television movies and miniseries, original and acquired television series, and lifestyle programs.’

The Channel is available to almost 100million households with pay TV in the United States. Wikipedia goes on: ‘Despite largely being an apolitical brand, Hallmark Channel has garnered a following among politically conservative viewers in suburban and rural areas who, according to Manhattan Institute for Policy Research’s Steven Malanga in a Los Angeles Times op-ed, feel the network and its original programming feed their desire to “express traditional family values and also to steer away from political themes and stories that denigrate religion”.’

Zola not that gay

A still from the Zola Ad - no, we are not going to show the dirty girls kissing.
A still from the Zola Ad – no, we are not going to show the dirty girls kissing.

The adverts were promoting Zola, a wedding planning company. In truth, there are not that many gay-weddings pictured on their website. Zola, like Hallmark, know their market. And it’s heterosexual.

Yes, they do cater for gays and lesbians. You can find their pictures usually half-way down the page. Maybe gays and lesbians occupy 2% of their market. A Zola spokesman insisted ‘all kisses, couples and marriages are equal celebrations of love’. Nevertheless, their core market is heterosexual.

So the ads, and the confected row, are mere virtue-, no, vice-signalling.

Social media backlash

The BBC reports, ‘The company’s cable network pulled the ads … under pressure from the conservative group One Million Moms.’
The decision, they say, ‘drew criticism on social media and calls for a boycott.’

The original decision to withdraw the adverts drew criticism from a number of high-profile gay figures, including homosexual Democratic presidential contender Pete Buttigieg and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.

New York Times reported, ‘Trending on Sunday were the hashtags #boycotthallmark and #BoycottHallmarkChannel, with more than 8,000 tweets mostly from users identifying themselves as L.G.B.T. families, allies and Hallmark viewers.’

Would the Hallmark Channel even notice if a load of people who are not viewers continued not to view?

And no, New York Times, the two young women in the advert are not ‘brides’.

Apology

Mike Perry, Hallmark president and CEO, has made a mistake by caving in to gay activist group GLAAD
Mike Perry, Hallmark president and CEO, has made a mistake by caving in to gay activist group GLAAD

Hallmark said it would reinstate the adverts and attempt to re-establish its partnership with Zola.

“We are truly sorry for the hurt and disappointment this has caused,” said Hallmark’s president and chief executive Mike Perry.

To make matters worse, Hallmark said it would lick the boots of gay activist media group GLAAD. It would “be working with Glaad to better represent the LGBTQ community across our portfolio of brands.” Maybe he is not serious, but there was no reason to roll over like that.

‘seathom play’ on Youtube volunteered: ‘Who is Hallmark going to listen to? A million moms or a few angry lesbians, gays and SJW’s? They know their audience.’

But do they? Hallmark have overturned a solid commercial decision in return for identity-politics brownie points. Mr Perry is in grave danger of limiting or even souring his market rather than expanding it. As 1MM put it: ‘You will lose viewers if you cave to the LBGT agenda.’

Hallmark Personnel

Cynthia (Cindy) Mahoney, another Hallmark CEO, and on the board of UK Hallmark Cards PLC
Cynthia (Cindy) Mahoney, another Hallmark CEO, and on the board of UK Hallmark Cards PLC

American Cynthia (Cindy) Mahoney is either co-President and CEO of Hallmark International or ex-president. The above Mike Perry was appointed to those roles in June 2019.

In any event, Ms Mahoney sits on the board of Hallmark Cards PLC in the UK. Australian Amanda Del Prete is Managing Director of the UK arm.

Both women were appointed to their positions in December 2018 after the resignation of then CEO Steve Wright. At the time, the company claimed: “These changes will continue to strengthen the leadership team as our priorities continue to be both a creative and customer-focused business.”

UK Turnover and profit down

Nevertheless In the UK Hallmark’s card business is not doing so well. Turnover in 2018 (at £134m) was down 5.3% on the previous year. An operating profit of £1.4m in 2017 gave way to an operating loss of £2.3m. Only sales of assets nudged the company’s Profit & Loss sheet into the black.

The company paid no dividend to its shareholders in 2018. According to the business social network site LinkedIn, Amanda Del Prete is skilled in Customer Insight, Consumer Products and Brand Management.

Be that as it may, she inevitably blamed the fall on Brexit leading to a fall in the pound. The MD still grabbed £522,653 in ’emoluments’.

Totally irritated

One Graham Shoebridge reviewing Hallmark on TrustPilot last year said: ‘The small shop in Marshallswick St Albans used to be so good, cheap and professional. Now staff are decidedly rude, lazy and complacent. They talk non-stop to each other, leaving customers feeling totally irritated.’

On their petition page, 1MM claim to have spoken ‘with Crown Media Family Networks CEO Bill Abbott’. They say he ‘confirmed Hallmark Channel has pulled the Zola.com commercial’. Furthermore, ‘the Hallmark Channel will continue to be a safe and family friendly network’. 1MM say they ‘thanked him on behalf of all our supporters.’ They praise the Lord and conclude ‘No further action is needed!’

Beady eye

No doubt 1MM will be watching Hallmark Channel from now on with a beady eye. Mike Perry’s vice-signalling over GLAAD was ill-advised.

Neverthless, the proof of the pudding will be in the eating. If there is no repeat and no introduction of LGBT content, 1MM will be pacified. However, if there is, expect them to become totally irritated and Hallmark Channel to fall. the Lord answers his people’s prayers. It may not just be UK profits at risk.

Joel 2:11 And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?

Eleven nations condemn UNFPA, ICPD25 and Nairobi Summit

A joint statement by eleven nations on the last day of the UNFPA Summit in Nairobi condemned UNFPA without mentioning the UN population agency by name.

The UN’s Fund for Population activities had hoped the jamboree would pass off without controversy. They wanted to counter ‘the push-back’ against homosexuality and abortion in the developing world. They would be disappointed.

Press conference

Firstly, the United States, flanked by ambassadors from Brazil, Belarus, Egypt, Haiti, Hungary, Libya, Poland, Senegal, St. Lucia, and Uganda, held a press conference on 14th November 2019.

The US Special Representative for Global Women’s Health, Valerie Huber read a Statement. This reminded ‘both those gathered and those watching’ of the original aims of ICPD. The International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) was held in Cairo in 1994. Its stated objectives and actions seem dated now. They saw ‘critical challenges and interrelationships between population and sustained economic growth’. They placed it ‘in the context of sustainable development.’

Before the Statement, the Press Conference heard from Kenyan MPs Hon Chris Wamalwa, and Hon Jennifer Shamalla.  Although Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy William Rutu steered clear of abortion and homosexuality when opening and  closing the Summit respectively, these two MPs gave the press corps both barrels.

Parallel Conference

Secondly, Kenya Christian Professionals organised their own conference and also issued a statement.  International ambassadors also addressed one session.

According to C-Fam, ‘The parallel conference included a high-level intergovernmental event with government representatives of the United States, Hungary, Poland, Brazil, Kenya and the Holy See Nuncio. They affirmed their governments commitment to policy that foster strong families and protects unborn life and criticized UNFPA for going beyond the mandate established at the ICPD 25 years ago.

This article on LifeSite News is also worth reading.

Taking Cairo too far

The concern of the Eleven was that UNFPA and the Scandinavian nations behind the 2019 Nairobi Summit were taking the 1994 Cairo Declaration too far.

A pre-summit document from UNFPA spoke of an ‘ambition’. This was ‘how countries can move towards universal access to sexual and reproductive health and rights’. That would be ‘an essential part of universal health coverage’.

‘Sexual rights’ is shorthand for liberalising laws against homosexuality, while ‘reproductive rights’ refers to abortion.

1994 Cairo Declaration

Helpfully, UNFPA itself carries the original 1994 Cairo Declaration on its website. There are three mentions of ‘reproductive health’. All are in the context of family planning. But national governments must respect ‘their own national and cultural identity, values and tradition’.

There is no mention of ‘reproductive rights’, ‘sexual health’ or ‘sexual rights’ in the Cairo Declaration at all. Consequently there is no ‘reproductive right’ to abortion’. However the Declaration was not explicitly pro-life. It called upon national Governments ‘to reduce the need for abortion by providing universal access to family planning information and services.’

Contraception increases abortion

The Declaration blithely assumes that ‘access to family planning information and services’ reduces ‘the need for abortion’. However, that is simply not true.

Eighteen years before Cairo, British abortionist Dr Judith Bury, of Brook Advisory Centres, let the cat out of the bag. In 1981 she said “…women…have come to request [abortions] when contraception fails. There is overwhelming evidence that, contrary to what you might expect, the provision of contraception leads to an increase in the abortion rate.”

Comprehensive Sexuality Education

The Nairobi Summit was also promoting what is termed ‘Comprehensive Sexuality Education’ or CSE. This assault on the innocence of children figures nowhere in the Cairo Declaration.

Indeed, education in the Declaration had one single purpose. It was set solely in the context of increasing the wellbeing of women and girls. It would do that by bettering their health-care and developing their opportunities. Yes, it spoke of the feminist mantra of ‘women’s empowerment’. But ‘sex education’ of any kind was not there.

ICPD Program of Action

The UNFPA draw heavily on the ICPD Program of Action. This document, parallel to the Cairo Declaration, runs to 296 pages. It does contain references to ‘reproductive rights’ but these are nowhere defined, let alone to include a supposed ‘right’ to abortion. Indeed, the Government of Honduras entered a reservation in the document to clarify matters. It said the terms “‘reproductive rights’ and ‘sexual rights'” … “do not include ‘abortion’ or ‘termination of pregnancy’.”

There is no reference to ‘legalisation of abortion’ or ‘legal abortion’. Indeed, the Programme states:
‘7.24 Governments should take appropriate steps to help women avoid abortion, which in no case should be promoted as a method of family planning, and in all cases provide for the humane treatment and counselling of women who have had recourse to abortion.’

Consensus

The Program of Action was passed by consensus. It was then ‘endorsed by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in its resolution 49/128 of December 19, 1994.’ ‘Consensus’ is important in interantional law. If enough nations agree on something it begins to have a certain standing.

Therefore the 2019 Statement of the Eleven nations clarifies this point. ‘UN Member States were able to join consensus because the ICPD Program of Action preamble paragraph 1.15 made clear that the conference did not create any new international human rights, and that “the implementation of the recommendations contained in the Programme of Action is the sovereign right of each country, consistent with national laws and development priorities, with full respect for the various religious and ethical values and cultural backgrounds of its people, and in conformity with universally recognized international human rights”.’

Ambiguous terms

When it came to the ‘rights’ element in the context of ‘consensus’ the Eleven did not hold back. ‘We are also concerned about the content of some of the key priorities of this Summit. We do not support references in international documents to ambiguous terms and expressions, such as sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), which do not enjoy international consensus, nor contemplates the reservations and caveats incorporated into the Cairo outcome.

‘In addition, the use of the term SRHR may be used to actively promote practices like abortion. There is no international right to abortion; in fact, international law clearly states that “[e]veryone has the right to life” (e.g. Article 3 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights). ‘

No transparency

The 2019 Statement also condemned the Nairobi Summit for lack of transparency and inclusiveness. Cairo ‘was negotiated and implemented with and by the entire UN General Assembly membership’. In contrast, ‘only a small handful of governments were consulted on the planning and modalities of the 2019 Nairobi Summit’. (Mostly it was the Scandinavians.)

It follows, ‘outcomes from this summit are not intergovernmentally negotiated, nor are they the result of a consensus process. As a result, they should not be considered normative, nor should they appear in future documents as intergovernmentally-agreed language.’

Pro-family and pro-life nations will no doubt be on the alert for any sign of UNFPA language creeping in international documents. UNFPA will never bring its works to the light of the full UN. The Statement of the Eleven is clear. Without such universal acceptance, ‘no ICPD follow-on document has consensual weight or standing amongst governments.’

The value of Trump

It is worth saying that such a statement would never have been possible if Hilary Clinton had been elected President of the United States in 2016, the Statement of the Eleven would never have happened. It is only because of the staunch pro-life stand of the Trump administration that the 2019 Nairobi Summit was so roundly condemned.

So Almighty God plays a long game, and we should praise his name for all he did during the Summit. We were able to give out around 2,000 pro-life leaflets peacefully to delegates queuing for the Summit. Most were distributed on the opening day, Tuesday. And when we do the little things, we can leave it to the Lord to work miracles. The Statement of the Eleven is one of those things only God can organise.

Just remember, there is all to pray for as the US elections 2020 come ever closer.

Head teachers are gathering in a meeting today in Westminster to defend gay lessons in the wake of parental protests around pro-gay propaganda being given to primary school children.

The meeting is organised by the National Association of Head Teachers and hosted by Emma Hardy (Labour) MP for Hull West and Hessle.  Homosexual activist Andrew Moffat, creater of ‘No Outsiders’ will attend.

‘Opportunities’ from New Regulations

Under a heading ‘School leaders’ parliamentary briefing on Relationships Education and equality’, the NAHT web page says:

‘Primary school leaders in some areas of the country have been the targets of campaigning, protests and abuse relating to their commitment to equality and diversity. LGBT+ inclusion has been the focus of these protests. Protesters have argued that this learning should not happen in primary schools and parents should be able to withdraw their children from it.

‘On 11 June, school leaders on the front line will provide first-hand accounts of the challenges and opportunities that the announcement of the new regulations has meant for them, within our school communities.

‘This briefing will take place on Tuesday 11 June from 3pm to 4pm in Committee Room 9 in the main House of Commons building.’

Nazir Afzal – former Crown Chief Prosecutor for North West (video contribution. This is the guy who was supposed to be ‘mediating’ between Parkfield School and the parents.)

Sara Khan – lead commissioner, Commission for Countering Extremism. (So if you stand up for your child against LGBT propaganda you are now an ‘Extremist’)

David Isaac – chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission. (Gay activist and previous head of Stonewall. Here he is giving a lecture; look out for 13:50 and 1:06:10)

Jono Baggaley – CEO of the PSHE Association. (Only to be expected.)

Steve Edmonds – director of advice and guidance, National Governors Association. (What did he have to say?)

Sarah Hewitt-Clarkson – head teacher at Anderton Primary School, Birmingham. (Site of latest protests.)

Andrew Moffat – deputy head teacher, Parkfield Primary School, Birmingham. (Gay activist. Not a tecaher.)

Simon Kidwell – head teacher at Hartford Manor Primary School in Northwich, Cheshire. (What’s going on there in Northwich?)

Dean Taylor – president, NAHT Wales and head teacher in Newport.

Rob Partington – head teacher, New Moston Primary School in Manchester, and Stonewall training partner. (Parents in Manchester beware.)

‘If you would like to attend this critical briefing, please RSVP to organising@naht.org.uk.’

Prayer

Please pray for confusion in this meeting. May the Lord’s enemies be scattered!

Ofsted chief condemns Parkfield parents

Parents at Parkfield School in Birmingham have demonstrated overwhelming solidarity in their battle to oust a campaigning homosexual teacher. The parents took between 540 and 600 children out of school on Friday 1st March 2019.  That’s out of a total roll of 740, as the Birmingham Mail reports.

The ‘No Outsiders’ project has been developed by one Andrew Moffat.  The campaigning homosexual acts as ‘assistant head teacher’ at the school. No Outsiders has figured books such as ‘Mommy, Mama and Me’, ‘My Princess Boy’ and ‘King & king’ – stories about same-sex relationships and transgenderism.

No protests, please!

The head of the education inspection agency supports gay lessons.  A defiant Amanda Spielman, ‘Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector’ (HMCI) at Ofsted, explained it is ‘vital’ children know about ‘families that have two mummies or two daddies’.  To a decadent society, sodomy is ‘vital’.

She condemned parental protests and called for ‘sane, rational discussion’. If a policy was ‘not working well enough’ then ‘it’s proper conversation that will change it, not protests,’ she sniffed.

But protests work …

It’s breathtaking establishment arrogance. Funnily enough, the Guardian told us on Monday that Parkfield School has now stopped gay lessons, for now. In a face-saving letter to parents, the school said: ‘Up to the end of this term, we will not be delivering any No Outsiders lessons in our long-term year curriculum plan, as this half term has already been blocked for religious education (RE).’  So protests work!

But in a defiant tone, the letter went on: ‘Equality assemblies will continue as normal and our welcoming No Outsiders ethos will be there for all.’

The parents are telling Christian Voice that no child will attend any assembly or class conducted by Andrew Moffat.  Here is our earlier report of their protests, which we attended.

Ofsted: ‘Outside influence’

Parkfield Community School, where gay activist Andrew Moffat has been promoting No Outsiders

Astonishingly, Ofsted later confirmed Parkfield was re-inspected after receiving a number of complaints. However, a spokesperson said: ‘We support the right of school leaders to determine the curriculum as they see fit and in the interests of their pupils – free from hostile outside influence.’ That’ll be parents, no doubt.

The ‘spokesperson’ went on: ‘All schools have a responsibility to prepare children for life in modern Britain and that includes encouraging respect for those who are different, for instance LGBT people or those of different faiths.’  And parents have a responsibility to defend and inoculate their children from gay propaganda:

Deut 6:7  And thou shalt teach (God’s words) diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Conference in Cumbria

In an interesting development, Amanda Spielman is the headline act at an education conference in Cumbria on Monday 18th March. HMCI will speak at the Cumbrian Leading Learning research conference at West Lakes Academy in Egremont.

The conference starts at 8.30am and runs until 4.00pm.  We are talking to local Christians and may hold a witness which would start from 8.00am sharp if we have enough support.

Psa 94:16  Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

Conference in Birmingham

However, the weekend before, Education Secretary Damian Hinds is speaking on Friday 15th and Amanda Spielman on Saturday 16th March at the Association of School and College Leaders 2019 Annual Conference. It is being held in, of all places, Birmingham.  Lord, how do you do that?  the venue is the International Convention Centre (ICC) B1 2EA.

We’ll witness with leafleting at 8.00am on both days and also aim to be there from 4.00pm to 5.30pm for people leaving the venue.

Psa 20:5 We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions.

This event is heaven-sent for a big witness! If you can, come. If not, pray!

Spielman controversies

Controversy appears to dog Amanda Spielman.  An accountant with no teaching experience, never having placed her children in a state school, her appointment was roundly condemned by the Education Select Committee.  Despite that, then Education Secretary Nicky Morgan MP appointed her anyway.

Luke Tryl. The gay Tory activist has enjoyed a meteoric rise.
Luke Tryl. The gay Tory activist has enjoyed a meteoric rise.

And here’s a twist.  Nicky Morgan’s education advisor at the time, gay activist and Tory Party 1hack Luke Tryl, fresh from a stint at Stonewall, went on to become head of policy, no less, at Ofsted.

SchoolsWeek says he’s just left the corrupt watchdog to become head of the New Schools Network, a Government-funded charity which advises on setting up Free Schools.

Psa 73:3 For I was envious … when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. … 8 They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily. … 17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.

The hijab crusade

This time last year, the Amanda went on a crusade – as it were- against hijabs when Neena Lall, head of St Stephen’s, an east London primary school, banned girls under eight from wearing them.  She even sent inspectors to the school to show solidarity. “School leaders,” she said subsequently, “must have the right to set school uniform policies … to promote cohesion … Ofsted will always back heads who take tough decisions in their pupils’ interests.”  Parents and Muslim community leaders forced the ban’s reversal anyway.

Ms Spielman pointedly called on “others in government” to give similar backing. “Muscular liberalism”, she said, was needed “to tackle those who actively undermine fundamental British values”.

That’ll be ‘fundamental British values’ like accepting sodomy.  This Amanda is heading for a fall.

Prov 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

Gay Conversion Therapy ban? Here come the Thought Police

Theresa May announcing a ban on 'Gay Conversion Therapy'
Theresa May announcing a ban on 'Gay Conversion Therapy'

Theresa May announcing a ban on 'Gay Conversion Therapy'
Theresa May announcing a ban on ‘Gay Conversion Therapy’

So Theresa May has ‘vowed’, as the London Evening Standard puts it, to ban what has become known as ‘gay conversion therapy’.

Action Plan

She is proposing a £4.5 million ‘action plan’ aimed at making society ‘more inclusive’ for homosexuals, bisexuals and transgenders. They make up the media’s so-called ‘LGBT community’. And part of the ‘action plan’ is to brand any course of treatment or healing for same-sex desires as ‘abhorrent’.

As the Bible says:

Proverbs 29:27 An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.

The initiative follows a major Government survey to which more than 108,000 LGBT people responded. The rest of the population, 99% of us, knew nothing about it.

The survey found out of the 1% of the population who are sadly L or G, as many as 2% had undergone conversion therapy and a further 5% had been offered it. That, clearly, will never do.

The action plan states: ‘We will consider all legislative and non-legislative options to prohibit promoting, offering or conducting conversion therapy.’

Avoid holding hands

The survey showed LGBT’s claim to experience ‘prejudice’ on a daily basis, the Government said.

More than two thirds of those who took part in the survey said they avoided holding hands with a same-sex partner in public for fear of a negative reaction. 23% said work colleagues had reacted negatively to them being LGBT. So not everyone has been steamrollered by the LGBT juggernaut.

LGBT hate incidents had been experienced by 40% of people in the survey. More than nine in 10 of the most serious offences went unreported, says the Standard. But a ‘hate incident’ could be someone like me objecting to repellent homosexual propaganda in Lloyds Bank, or a mother not being too pleased about dirty boys holding hands in front of her children.

The Prime Minister said: ‘We can be proud that the UK is a world leader in advancing LGBT rights, but the overwhelming response to our survey has shone a light on the many areas where we can improve the lives of LGBT people.’

Will DUP support the plan?

Arlene Foster's DUP have kept Theresa May honest over Brexit. Can they do the same in respect of the LGBT action plan?
Arlene Foster’s DUP have kept Theresa May honest over Brexit. Can they do the same in respect of the LGBT action plan?

Mrs May’s administration depends on the support of the Democratic Unionist Party. The DUP has remained a shining light in Northern Ireland, preventing ‘gay-marriage’ and abortion reaching the Province. Can the DUP shut down this ludicrous and freedom-sapping initiative?

Mrs May went on: ‘I was struck by just how many respondents said they cannot be open about their sexual orientation or avoid holding hands with their partner in public for fear of a negative reaction.’

‘No one should ever have to hide who they are or who they love.’

Does that include paedophiles and serial adulterers? Mrs May needs to understand that many of us, from strong religious convictions, seriously object to homosexuals flaunting their perversions in public. She continued:

‘This LGBT action plan will set out concrete steps to deliver real and lasting change across society, from health and education to tackling discrimination and addressing the burning injustices that LGBT people face.’

LGBTs matter more than others

The plan aims to investigate ‘LGBT abuse online’; as if no other form of abuse online is anywhere near as important. It also wants to improved ‘mental healthcare for LGBT people with a focus on suicide prevention’. That means other suicides, like those of young men in general, do not matter as much.

Lev 19:15 Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.

It will also say that society is to blame for suicides among homosexuals, not the disorder of homosexuality itself.

Inevitably, it will step up gay propaganda in state schools under the guise of ‘combating homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying’.

Finally, a national adviser on reducing LGBT inequality will be appointed as part of the initiative. And a BBC internal survey just found 10% of their staff were ‘that way inclined’. That’s five to ten times as many as in the population. Homosexuals are also over-represented in Parliament and academia. There is no ‘LGBT inequality’ in our law or in our public institutions. Just in the public mind.

Pastors may not pray?

And of course there will be the ban on ‘gay conversion therapy’. The psychological profession’s regulation bodies already prohibit their members from offering any such therapy. In the 1970’s activists such as Peter Tatchell browbeat the psychiatric profession into removing homosexuality from any list of disorders.

Therapist Lesley Pilkingon was struck off by her professional body, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. She was targetted in a sting operation by activist Patrick Strudwick, as he boasts in the Independent here.

But what if someone goes to their pastor and asks for prayer to rid themselves of unwanted same-sex desires? What if the pastor suggests a Christian healing ministry? Will ministries, even churches, that take a Biblical view on sodomy and lesbianism be banned? What if the pastor or a friend of one seeking healing offers to cast out a demon?

Attack on basic freedoms

Let us be under no illusion. This is an attack on freedom of speech, freedom of choice, freedom of association, and inasmuch as Christianity forms the backdrop to a desire to be free from same-sex desires, or constitutes an element of the healing process offered, on religious freedom.

And why is such a ban being proposed? Simply to protect the fragile sensibilities of homosexual activists:

Firstly, the mere thought that someone could be dissatisfied with being homosexual and want to change is politically incorrect.

Secondly, the very idea that someone could actually change is politically inconvenient.

Thirdly, the concept that human sexuality is not rigidly determined at birth is at odds with the gay agenda.

Fourthly, the idea that there is something inherently wrong with sodomy and all things gay may not be entertained.

Gay Conversion Therapy ban criminalises ideas

There are people walking away from the homosexual lifestyle? How very dare they.

Homosexual activists cannot get over the fact that many ordinary people view same-sex desires and those outwardly expressing them as abnormal, unnatural, deviant and pathological. In particular, they cannot abide the church not honouring their perversion.  But it never can:

Mark 10: 6  But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. 7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; 8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

And becoming one flesh in the Bible’s full emotional, spiritual and physical sense is something a pair of gays or two lesbians can never do.

So to be blunt, Mrs May is going to try to criminalise ideas. And that way lies tyranny. Another part of George Orwell’s nightmarish 1984 vision is in place. Here come the Thought Police.

Germaine Greer in Hay Festival rape storm

Germaine Greer
Germaine Greer

Germaine Greer
Germaine Greer

Germaine Greer has told an audience at the Hay Literary Festival that ‘most rape’ is not violent but ‘lazy, careless and insensitive.’

Her intervention prompts us to look at what the word of God says. We shall find it is at odds with both contemporary views and Miss Greer’s revisionism. But first, what did she actually say?

Believe accusers, lower punishments

According to Mark Brown, arts correspondent of the Guardian, the veteran feminist called for punishments for rape to be lowered, that is, if women were always to be believed in the absence of evidence.

She suggested offenders could have an ‘r’ tattooed on their hand, arm or cheek. They should also, she proposed, do 200 hours’ community service.

Neither will happen, but her intention was both to irritate and trivialise the crime. As an exercise in provocation, some commentators said, it worked. The audience, said one, was ‘stunned’.

The academic argued that rape is rampant in society and ‘the legal system cannot cope with it’. She said it always ‘comes down to the issue of consent’. In her view, the alleged victims become little more than ‘bits of evidence’.

No communication

‘Most rapes don’t involve any injury whatsoever,’ Miss Greer said. ‘We are told that it is a sexually violent crime. An expert like Quentin Tarantino will tell us that when you use the word rape you’re talking about violence, a throwing them down. It is one of the most violent crimes in the world.’

Dr Greer said she firmly disagreed with that.

‘Most rape is just lazy, just careless, insensitive. Every time a man rolls over on his exhausted wife and insists on enjoying his conjugal rights he is raping her. It will never end up in a court of law.

‘Instead of thinking of rape as a spectacularly violent crime, and some rapes are, think about it as non-consensual … that is bad sex. Sex where there is no communication, no tenderness, no mention of love.’

Germaine Greer is controversial!

Dr Greer acknowledged her thesis would be controversial. “It is moments like these, I can hear the feminists screaming at me, ‘you’re trivialising rape!’

“Well I’ll tell you what … You might want to believe that the penis is a lethal weapon and that all women live in fear of that lethal weapon, well that’s bull****. It’s not true. We don’t live in terror of the penis … A man can’t kill you with his penis.”

She questioned a statistic which said that 70% of rape victims had suffered post-traumatic stress disorder compared with 20% of conflict veterans.

‘What the hell are you saying? Something that leaves no sign, no injury, no nothing is more damaging to a woman than seeing your best friend blown up by an IED is to a veteran?’

Society wanted women to believe that rape destroyed them, she said. ‘We haven’t been destroyed, we’ve been bl***y annoyed is what we’ve been.’

Changed minds

Such a view is supported by the evidence in some recently collapsed rape trials. The accusers were happy to engage in sexual relations with a man. They even sent texts afterwards saying how much they enjoyed it. Then they changed their minds. And rather than put it down to experience, they went to the police and accused the man of rape. It is such an easy accusation to make. And in such a sex-obsessed society as ours, as Miss Greer points out, some will see rape everywhere.

Dr Greer referenced Tarantino, but his view of rape as inherently violent is not new. Seeing rape as less a sexual act and more ‘an act of violence, with sex as the weapon,’ was coined by Professors Burgess and Holmstrom in 1974. Feminists took it up with gusto. However, plainly, Germaine Greer disagrees with that view. But she flies to the other extreme and trivialises sexual congress. She is right at a human level to call for more intimacy and gentleness. But she is wrong to suggest unwanted sexual intercourse is only seriously wrong if actual physical violence is involved.

The Biblical view

The Bible views rape as an act not of violence but one of sexual violation. And that is simply because the Almighty designated marriage as the only place for sexual relations.

Dinah’s brothers Simeon and Levi were outraged their sister had engaged in what she and her boyfriend Shechem intended as pre-marital sex:

Gen 34:1 And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land. 2 And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.

This was not rape. There is no hint of force, as when Amnon raped his half-sister Tamar in 2Sam 13.  Nor was it a drunken pick-up in a town-centre pub.  It was not a one-night stand.  Dinah and Shechem seriously wanted to get married.  But the word ‘defiled’ shows the seriousness of doing what they did the wrong side of the wedding feast.

A grammatical dictum explains the correct usage of the word ‘anticipate’. ‘When we say Shechem and Dinah “anticipated” their marriage we do not mean they were looking forward to it.’  Instead, they had jumped the gun.  Shechem was a wealthy prince. He was even willing to be circumcised and accept the God of Israel.  But to no avail.  Simeon and Levi pulled a trick and massacred all the men of his city.  When their father Jacob remonstrated with them, they furiously replied:

Gen 34:31 … Should he deal with our sister as with an harlot?

The grace of God in the law

They were hasty, cruel and violent, said their father.  Nevertheless, theirs would have been the prevailing view.  It is indeed a Biblical view.  But all the same, there was another Biblical way, the way Shechem pleaded for. The law, codified on Mount Sinai but in existence in their day, made gracious provision for such an occurrence:

Exodus 22:16 And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife. 17 If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.

The dowry of virgins was higher than that of non-virgins, for a mixture of spiritual and practical reasons.  Despite what Dr Greer said and what much of our society believes, the loss of her virginity outside marriage was – and is – a devastating thing to happen to a girl.  Moreover, the Lord expected families to safeguard their daughters:

Lev 19:29 Do not prostitute thy daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness.

Despite what Germaine Greer says, consent is not remotely the issue. The Bible commends grace, love, tenderness, respect and patience within marriage, but neither is that the issue. The only consideration is, ‘Are they married?’ Only within marriage is consent to sexual intercourse valid. Going further, within marriage, consent to sexual intercourse is assumed.

Death penalty for adultery and rape

Seen in this context, we can understand the death penalty for adultery in Deuteronomy 22:22. It is a violation of the sacred bond of marriage. We can see why a man who really does rape a betrothed woman faces the death penalty a few verses on:

Deut 22:25 But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die:

We can see why, if the laying together is consensual, the verses that follow lay the death penalty on both. In all these cases, as Deut 24:1-4 and Numb 35:31 make clear, the death penalty could be commuted to a payment of money.  But it remains a serious violation of God’s created order, given for our good.

Stability of marriage

God’s design for society is far away from our own, and a world away from the one Germaine Greer proposes. God takes sex seriously because he takes marriage seriously. And he takes marriage seriously because he takes the stability of society seriously.

On the issue of sentencing, Prof Greer is wrong again. There can never be two classes of convictions. There cannot be a serious, proper, proven rape which leads to prison, and a sort of second class, barely-proven, semi-rape which merely requires community service.

The Bible, all the way through, in both Old and New Testaments, demands a case be proven by witnesses:

Deut 19:15 One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

Matt 18:16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

Our current practice is to grant anonymity to accusers but not to the accused. Such different treatment is what the Bile calls ‘respect of persons.’ It too flies in the face of the Biblical witness:

2Chron 19:7 Wherefore now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.

Germaine Greer as ‘TERF’

Germaine Greer wrote the book ‘The Female Eunuch’ in 1970. It probably did as much as anything to set the feminist ball rolling. It played a part in the so-called sexual revolution. But maybe its author now sees what she set in motion has become the monster it always would be.

Certainly she is not now afraid to annoy the chattering classes. To take another example, Prof Greer has infuriated what we these days call ‘snowflakes’ with her views on transsexuals. Students at both Cardiff and Bristol have tried to ‘no-platform’ her. Why? She maintains male-female transsexuals are ‘not women’. That makes her a ‘TERF’, a ‘Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist’ and a holder of ‘transphobic’ views.

Thank you, Dr Greer

So we thank her for raising this issue, which has allowed us to seek the Lord. We pray to have done that faithfully. No doubt our many contributors will correct and clarify in the comments.

Tom Daley and Dustin are not ‘having a baby’ – as Commonwealth says ‘No’ to gay rights

Tom Daley (Left) and Dustin Lance Black (right) held a ‘baby shower’ party last weekend.

Failed Olympic Diver Tom Daley and his American screenwriter father-figure Dustin Lance Black are not ‘having a baby together.’

According to the Metro newspaper, the two held a ‘baby shower’ over the weekend (April 2018).  That’s when you invite your friends around, feed them and receive gifts for your baby.

And in this case, you wear the sort of vulgar sashes and head wear normally seen on a hen night.

When the pair told the world in February, Pink News was shocked they received abuse.  ‘It turns out that in 2018 a lot of people still aren’t happy about two men having a baby together.  Earlier today Olympic diver Tom Daley and Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black announced they are having their first child,’ gushed the homosexual rag.

Post-truth, post-shame

No, they are not having ‘their’ first child, Pink News.  Nor are they ‘married’.  Nor is either of them the ‘husband’ of the other, as the BBC also claimed.  All this language is self-delusional at best.  At worst, it is yet another example of our ‘post-truth, post-shame’ society.  Our leaders and media don’t know what is true any more and  they don’t care.

In whose womb is this child pictured?
In whose womb is this child pictured?

Here is the uncomfortable truth.  One of them is having a child born by a paid surrogate mother.   Despite the identical sashes saying ‘Daddy to be’, the other has no relation to the baby at all.

Furthermore, this child is either a fashion accessory or a gay rights campaign.  Either way, it stinks.  Which one of them provided seed to artificially inseminate the mother?  Or, did they, no, stop, there is a danger of too much information.  They won’t say, in any case.  They will pretend the child is ‘theirs’.

And they will, in fact did, hold up an ultrasound picture of the baby in its mother’s womb, whoever she is.

‘Breeding machine’

Which prompted the homosexual magazine ‘Advocate’ to ask if women have become mere ‘breeding machines’ for celebrity dirty boys.  Sorry, gay couples.   (Well, what they do is dirty by any reasonable standard, and inherently unsanitary.)

In any case, Advocate poses a fair question. They quoted columnist Richard Littlejohn.   He asked: “But where’s the mum, the possessor of the womb which features in this photograph? She appears to have been written out of the script entirely.”  Mr Littlejohn went on: “We are not told her identity, where she lives, or even when the baby is due.  She is merely the anonymous incubator.”

Daley, 23 and Black, 43, got gay-married in May 2017 at Bovey Castle in Devon.  Daley’s own father sadly died in May 2011.  I venture his son would never have turned gay had Robert Daley still been alive.    In fact, Pink News reported Mr Black revealed Daley is still attracted to women.  He said: “I don’t know if I’ll be in trouble for this; his head still turns for girls.”

Who is the mother? And just who is the father?

In a radio broadcast, Black tried to say there would be loads of women in the child’s life.  But that is not the point.  A baby needs its mother AND its father.  At some stage he or she will ask after his or her mother.  And an inquisitive child will want to know which of the charlatans is his actual, true father.  What will Black answer a growing child then?

God’s way is for children to be born of a loving union between man and woman.  Such a relationship as the Bible describes is conspicuously absent in this case:

Genesis 2:24  Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Exodus 20:12  Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

Commonwealth says ‘No’ to Tom Daley

If there is a silver lining, it is that Tom Daley’s pro-sodomy calls to the 2018 Commonwealth Heads of Government went unheeded, at least in the short term.  He won gold with Dan Goodfellow in the synchronised diving at the Commonwealth Games.  Daley pulled out of the individual event.  He will be diving next in Russia in May.  The Star reports he is afraid to go.  Apparently, Russians collectively and the Russian Federation not being cool with sodomy is ‘scary’.

Goodfellow was sidelined as Daley went off on his rant, according to the Guardian: “There are 37 countries where it’s illegal to be who I am out of all the Commonwealth so hopefully we can reduce that number between now and (2022),”  Theresa May and Boris Johnson also joined in trying to force gay rights on the nations of the Commonwealth.  The Foreign Secretary even promised Tom Daley he would raise the matter.

Sadly, Belize, the Seychelles, Nauru and Mozambique have all recently decriminalised sodomy. The matter is before the courts in Trinidad and Tobago, Kenya, Botswana and India.  Sri Lanka has referenced ‘sexual orientation’ and ‘gender identity’ in its draft constitution.  All these cases have been brought as a result of behind-the-scenes agitation from the UK. Moreover, the homosexual activists in the various countries have been funded from the UK, the EU or the US or from individuals such as George Soros and his Open Society Foundations.  There is no indigenous locally-funded pro-gay activist group anywhere in the developing world, so far as we can make out.

Exodus 23:8  And thou shalt take no gift: for the gift blindeth the wise, and perverteth the words of the righteous.

Thank God for local opposition

Bishop Dr. Victor Gill and his wife Tracey Gill.
Bishop Dr. Victor Gill and his wife Tracey Gill.

Thank God for local opposition.  Indy100 quotes Trinidad bishop Victor Gill who condemns pressure from the UK to decriminalise same-sex acts as “neo-colonialism”.  He voiced concern that “children should not be indoctrinated in school that homosexuality is normal”.  We have experience in the UK that this is exactly what happens when sodomy is decriminalised.  The bishop went on: “Once the law is removed and it becomes legally right, then it will be right to be taught, then they want equal opportunity for services and so forth’.

But the final communique of the 2018 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting made no mention of ‘sexuality’, ‘diversity’, ‘sexual health’ or ‘reproductive health’.  (The latter is code for abortion.)  ‘Transgender’, let alone ‘gays, ‘lesbians’, or ‘homosexuality’ did not merit a mention either.  Sadly, feminism, aka ‘women’s economic empowerment’,  featured.  African nations have not yet noticed that the idea that only women and youth can be trusted to run businesses and increase wealth is deeply racist.  ‘Women’s economic empowerment’ is yet another fashionable cause in the UK’s neo-colonialist agenda.

The wickedness the UK tries to force on other nations, added to our own rebellion against God’s laws, on top of our warmongering, is bringing the judgment of God on this nation.  Pray for repentance in the Cabinet.

Ealing Council strikes at freedom of assembly

Ealing Council will create a protest exclusion zone outside an abortion clinic, according to a BBC report.  The unanimous Cabinet decision will prevent pro-life vigils within 100 metres (whatever those are) of the building. The Council will make a ‘Public Spaces Protection Order.’ That can be done under Section 59 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

BBC’s use of language

The BBC refer to the proposed area as a ‘safe zone’.   So does Ealing Council.  On its website, the Council says: ‘The safe zone can be introduced immediately once the five day call in period has passed’.  That, it says, means on ‘Monday, 23 April 2018’.

Those attending the Marie Stopes clinic in Mattock Lane W5 will be ‘safe’ from suggestions they might think again.  The BBC says women ‘complained of intimidation by protesters’.

However, the ‘Good Counsel Network‘ denies harassing women.  It holds daily vigils outside the centre.

Pro-abortion protesters outside Marie Stopes

The decision, says the BBC,  will apply ‘to both anti-abortion and pro-choice campaigners.’  And in that very wording, the BBC betrays its prejudice.  So let’s give ours away.  These are ‘pro-life’ as opposed to ‘pro-death’ or at the very least, ‘pro-abortion’ campaigners.  Because there are some ‘choices’ human beings may never be allowed to make.  And killing another human being is one of them.

Matt 19:18  He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder. Thou shalt not commit adultery. Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness…

Abortion is not ‘healthcare’

Apparently, ‘applause in broke out in the Ealing council cabinet room following the decision’.  Nevertheless, ‘a protestor (sic) then interrupted the meeting and accused the council of taking away their rights.’  There’s always one trouble-maker, isn’t there?

Healthcare? Results of a vacuum abortion. Most abortions are carried out by this method in the first trimester.
Healthcare? Results of a vacuum abortion. Most abortions are carried out by this method in the first trimester.

Richard Bentley, Marie Stopes UK managing director, said: “This is a landmark decision for women.

“This was never about protest. It was about small groups of strangers choosing to gather by our entrance gates where they could harass and intimidate women and try to prevent them from accessing healthcare to which they are legally entitled.”

‘Healthcare?’  Ripping an unborn child out of its mother’s womb is not ‘healthcare’.  It’s infanticide.

Prov 6:16  These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him. 17  A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood …

Ealing Council could set a trend

More than 300 people wrote to the council describing the pro-life protesters as “intimidating and harassing”.  In response, ‘those against abortion have said women are not being offered enough alternatives.’

Cllr Julian Bell (Labour)
Cllr Julian Bell (Labour)

A report presented to the council cabinet concluded that, following unsuccessful attempts to negotiate an informal “safe zone” near the clinic entrance, a public spaces protection order was appropriate.

The report also refers to “continued deployment of policing resources” outside the clinic.  This was an “unusual and unnecessary use of local policing resources that could be deployed elsewhere”.  But it seems the police were there to prevent trouble from pro-abortionists.

The BBC says the decision ‘could pave the way for other councils to follow suit.’  Council leader Julian Bell said he felt the cabinet had done “absolutely” the right thing.  He said: “I believe that this is something that’s long been needed.  So it feels good that we are actually breaking the ground with this and leading the way.  “I’m personally a practising Christian myself and so I think it’s important to recognise that this is about protecting women from harassment and intimidation.”

Sham consultation

Elizabeth Howard, a spokeswoman for Be Here for Me, said: “It’s what we expected, after really what can only be described as a sham consultation by the council.

Index on Censorship agrees.  The free-speech lobby group points out the consultation on exclusion zones ‘was not open to non residents of the borough’.

Moreover, it says the zone ‘sets a dangerous precedent that could have far-reaching impacts on the right to protest and freedom of expression.

‘There are alternative legal remedies already on the books that can be used to police harassing and intimidating behaviour, as Ealing’s own options document pointed out.’

‘unlawful and disproportionate’

Index on Censorship goes on:  ‘The use of buffer zones to prevent protests could be used against all forms of speech – including those that wish to protest on environmental or political issues, for example.’

Additionally, they say they wrote the leader of the Ealing Council in March.  In their letter, they described the zones as ‘potentially unlawful and disproportionate’.

Ealing says: ‘Councillors agreed that the need to provide safe, unimpeded access to the clinic in the safe zone can be balanced with the Equality Act and the European Convention on Human Rights.’  Whether that is true may well soon be decided in a court of law.

The wickedness of the United Kingdom

The UK Parliament
The UK Parliament

The UK Parliament
The UK Parliament

It is good Christians are gathering for prayer tomorrow in London. Brexit negotiations are at a crucial point. As always, it is the spiritual dimension of the EU which is vital to bear in mind. This link has all the short but (I hope) informative videos I made two years ago about the Tower of Babel, the Woman on the Beast, Satan’s Seat in Rome, and the EU’s original design as a revived Roman Empire.

But let us pray believers will also pray for repentance for Her Majesty’s Government. Because coming out of the EU, good as that is, will not solve the UK’s spiritual problems. Britain is deep in sin.

Gay Marriage

The United Kingdom leads the world in trying to force developing nations to accept ‘gay marriage’. At home, our Governments’ ‘sex education’ model promotes deviant behaviour among the young. Transsexualism is the latest fad, challenging God’s creation itself. It is child sexual abuse. And the Church in the UK tolerates it.

We are put to shame by Christians in Africa who would never accept the homosexual agenda in their schools. One of the reasons our politicians so hate Russia’s President Putin is that he instigated that nation’s anti-propaganda law, which forbids promoting homosexuality in Russia. What a total contrast with the UK, where to voice any kind of opposition to the gay agenda is to lose employment or be thrown off a university course.

And overseas, the United Kingdom has blood on its hands. I don’t where you are, but although I want to see souls saved into the Kingdom, I also believe it is good when people simply dwell in peace. The UK and US started a bloody civil war in Iraq. That led to the displacement, murder and loss of livelihood of hundreds of thousands including the majority of that country’s Christians. The same happened in Libya. On top of its lack of concern for those lives, our Foreign Office consistently fails to stand up steadfastly for Christians in Egypt or Pakistan. Let alone Saudi Arabia, one of our ‘gulf allies’.

United Kingdom helped start war in Syria

Christians Celebrating Christmas in liberated Aleppo December 2016.
Christians Celebrating Christmas in liberated Aleppo December 2016.

Latterly, our Government took against President Assad of Syria. Together with the US and George-Soros-funded Avaaz, we helped start a civil war in Syria.  That caused wholesale loss of life and destroyed homes and businesses.  It led to the rise of jihadists, not just those of Islamic State.  Christians have been persecuted and and waves of migrants unleashed across Europe. Make no mistake, neither the UK Government nor its client jihadists care anything about Syria’s Christians.  Nor do they care about its Druze community or Assad’s own Alawite minority.

Only the Russians stood with Bashar Al-Assad and Syria’s Christians. Yes, they were defending their Mediterranean base, but only the Russians saved Syria from a blood bath. They continue to help defeat the very same Islamists whom our government finance, to our national shame. So there’s another reason why our politicians hate President Putin.

I just thank God the United Kingdom is in no position to affect events in the far east. South Korea’s President Moon Jae-in has, for my money, shown more statesmanship than the lot of them. Let us pray for his peace initiative and that North Korea’s Christians may see light at the end of their dark night. The ambitious might even pray for repentance for North Korea’s Kim Jong-un. Imagine if he came to faith!

Ukraine destabilised by the EU

Then there’s Ukraine, where a Soros and EU-funded coup deposed a Russian-leaning elected president and threw a whole nation into turmoil. We showed here the role the EU and George Soros played in destablising Ukraine.

Eastern Ukrainian ethnic Russians naturally looked east for protection while Crimea took the opportunity to return to Russia. The affair was a financial disaster for Ukraine, not that the UK cares about that, and a setback for Western interests.

One fears any political solution will need clearer heads than have been in evidence recently. Even now, we hear the EU is trying to force Ukraine to accept gay rights so they can still join the EU! Why don’t they leave Ukraine in peace? Because the Eurocrats are empire-builders opposing the Lord and his Anointed. That sort never give up, do they?

The strange Salisbury Affair

Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in a restaurant minutes before they were found slumped on a bench, supposedly infected by nerve gas.
Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in a restaurant minutes before they were found slumped on a bench, supposedly infected by nerve gas.

And lastly, the strange Salisbury affair. There was never any nerve agent on the streets of Salisbury as our article showed but what led to Mr Skripal and his daughter being found comatose on a bench? What did DS Bailey find in their home? If there was no break-in there, did Yulia bring something in her luggage from Moscow? And if inadvertently, how was a poison triggered?

Somebody in Whitehall knows, but they aren’t saying. It’s far easier to rush to judgment, throw accusations about and look tough disrupting international relations and the cause of peace.

And the latest developments, with a fractious Russian press conference and Boris Johnson comparing President Putin to Adolf Hitler, and you begin to wonder at the sanity let alone the spiritual condition of those who lead us. Frankly, none of those in power is wondering where his or her next meal is coming from as they survey the ruin of their business in Salisbury, Damascus or Kiev. They are sitting down in comfort.

Lord, show us what can we do!

It will be natural to call out to God to send a revival, or repentance, and we should. But let us also ask the Lord in prayer what we can do in the midst of such home-grown national wickedness. I remember pointing out in this YouTube nanosermon, ‘The Prayer Meeting’, that our Father does not receive many prayers like that, and when he does receive them, he opens his heart to us.

2Chr 20:12 O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee. (KJV)

Christianity ‘in retreat’ across Europe

Professor Stephen Bullivant reports on Christianity in Europe
Professor Stephen Bullivant reports on Christianity in Europe

Young people are deserting Christianity across Europe, according to a London Professor.   Secularism is the prime beneficiary, according to a new report.  However, Muslims are also increasing their numbers through fecundity and tenacity to their faith.

The findings come from Stephen Bullivant, professor of theology at St Mary’s University in Twickenham. Professor Bullivant analysed data for 16- to 29-year-olds from the European social survey 2014-16.

Europe’s young adults

The figures are published in a report, Europe’s Young Adults and Religion. The English Language pdf version is here.  A report in the Guardian, with more accessible charts, is here.

Disturbingly, a majority of young people in a dozen countries do not follow any religion.

The survey found the Czech Republic is the least religious country in Europe among the young. 91% of the age group said they have no religious affiliation. Between 70% and 80% of young adults in Estonia, Sweden and the Netherlands also categorise themselves as non-religious.

The most religious country is Poland, where 17% of young adults define themselves as non-religious, followed by Lithuania with 25%.

UK Muslims set to overtake Anglicans

Young Muslims will soon overtake Anglicans
Young Muslims will soon overtake Anglicans

In the UK, only 7% of young adults identify as Anglican. That is fewer than the 10% who categorise themselves as Catholic. Young Muslims, at 6%, will soon overtake their peers in England’s established church.

Young Christians as a whole in the UK are around 22% of their age group. Russia, in the news recently, is doing better, with 41% Christians among the young. Russia also has a slightly larger percentage of young Muslims than the UK.

France has the largest percentage of Muslims in Europe, at around 10%. Only 25% of French young people identify as Christian. The vast majority of those are Roman Catholic, as are the Poles and Lithuanians.
Professor Bullivant said religion across Europe was “moribund”. “With some notable exceptions, young adults increasingly are not identifying with or practising religion.”

The trend was downward. “Christianity as a default, as a norm, is gone, and probably gone for good – or at least for the next 100 years,” Prof Bullivant said.

But there were significant variations, he said. “Countries that are next door to one another, with similar cultural backgrounds and histories, have wildly different religious profiles.”  The two most religious countries, Poland and Lithuania, and the two least religious, the Czech Republic and Estonia, are post-communist states.

Practice of religion

Young churchgoers outnumber non-attenders almost four-to-one in Poland.
Young churchgoers outnumber non-attenders almost four-to-one in Poland.

The trend of religious affiliation was repeated when young people were asked about religious practice. Only in Poland, Portugal and Ireland did more than 10% of young people say they attend services at least once a week.

In the UK attendance was 7%, in France 6% and in Russia 4%, despite many more young people identifying as Christian in the Russian Federation. Estonia was the lowest in attendance. Only 2% of young Estonians go to church at least once a week.

Prayer outside a regular service is more frequent. Fifty percent of young Poles pray weekly or more and 31% of Irish.  The same proportion of young Irish 16-29’s say they never pray.

In the UK, 18% of young people pray weekly or more and 63% never. The figures for France are 14% and 65%, while in Russia 14% pray weekly or more and 46% never.

Christianity ‘washes straight off’ children

According to Professor Bullivant, many young Europeans “will have been baptised and then never darken the door of a church again. Cultural religious identities just aren’t being passed on from parents to children. ‘It just washes straight off them.’

Judges 2:10  And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

The figures for the UK were partly explained by high immigration. “One in five Catholics in the UK were not born in the UK.

Disturbingly, he adds that Islam is only going to expand at the expense of Christianity: “We know the Muslim birthrate is higher than the general population, and they have much higher [religious] retention rates.”

No religion ‘is default’

In another report, Professor Bullivant found almost half of Britons followed no religion. ‘Those who identify as ‘No religion’ … are 48.6% of the British adult population. This is roughly 24.3 million people’ he wrote in The No-Religion population of Britain.

“The new default setting is ‘no religion’, and the few who are religious see themselves as swimming against the tide,” he said. “In 20 or 30 years’ time, mainstream churches will be smaller, but the few people left will be highly committed.”

The importance of our families

Writing in the Catholic Herald, Professor Bullivant proposes a ‘new evangelism.’ However, he suggests: ‘We won’t live to see Europe’s Christian revival – but it will happen’.

Professor Bullivant goes on: ‘Arguably, the primary challenge of the new evangelisation – and the root cause of why it is needed in the first place – is keeping those we already have.’

He stresses the importance to Christianity of the family: ‘The research … points very strongly at how critical the formative years of childhood and young adulthood are for “setting up” a person’s adult religiosity. Unfortunately, that means that, in terms of broad societal trends (individual souls are a different matter, of course), “decline” is almost certain to continue for several years to come.’

He says that as the more practising older generations gradually die off, ‘the resolutely non-practising baby boomer generation “behind them” will certainly not be replacing them in our churches.’

Do the little things

St David, patron saint of Wales, urged his followers to 'Do the little things'. Strata Florida church, Ceredigion
St David, patron saint of Wales, urged his followers to ‘Do the little things’. Strata Florida church, Ceredigion

The final words of Saint David were recorded as “Do the little things, the small things you’ve seen me doing.” This is essentially what Stephen Bullivant offers as an action plan and it has support from scripture:

Zech 4:10a For who hath despised the day of small things?

Little things indeed add up. Moreover, when we do the little things that only we can do, we can safely leave the miraculous to God.

However, there is no room for lethargy, or for leaving just a few of us ‘doing the little things.’ Stephen Bullivant is a young man, and a fairly new convert. He brings remembrance of the mind of a non-believer but not necessarily all wisdom.  Nor do I, but as a first step, I offer the following.  We should as a body at the very least be:

1 Stirring up our gifts, whatever they are.
2 Sharing our testimony with whoever will listen.
3 Vocally confronting our culture with a Jesus counter-culture.
3a That includes witnessing to those in power,
3b Writing letters to newspapers and social media.
4 Out evangelising in public (those who can), with preaching and/or leafleting.
5 Having ‘incarnation theology’ involvement as churches in the community.
6 Discipling new converts, not leaving them to their own devices.
7 Remembering the enthusiasm and power of the Apostles.
8 Having confidence in our faith and the Holy Bible,
9 Marketing our services and events using all media.
10 Exercising humility and unity, not seeing other churches as competition.
11 Praying always to the Lord of the Harvest not just to send labourers but also to reveal new things to do.

Turn the Tide Christian Freedom Call

Jim Shannon MP will lead in a debate prompted by ‘Turn the Tide’

MPs Jim Shannon and Norman Lamb are leading a debate on Christian freedom in the House of Commons on Thursday.

Westminster Hall will stage the debate at 1.30pm. The title is”Freedom of religion or belief.”
Earlier this month Barnabas Fund published a booklet entitled ‘Turn the Tide’ to which we provide a link here.   (All our links open automatically in a new tab.)

Magna Carta vs Louise Casey

The booklet shows the history of religious freedom in our jurisdictions. It quotes Magna Carta: ‘”The English Church shall be free, and shall have its rights undiminished, and its liberties unimpaired.” So says the very first clause of Magna Carta, the “great charter” signed by King John and the barons of England on 15 June 1215. Only four of the Magna Carta’s 63 clauses have remained part of English law to this day. This is one of them.’

It goes on to show a Government review carried out by Dame Louise Casey struck against the Magna Carta principle.  Christian Voice carried an earlier article on the Casey Report. ‘Turn the Tide’ says: ‘The report defined “extremism” as views “at odds with the views of mainstream society.” It gave examples from various religions include “newer Christian churches” and stated that “all such instances undermine integration and should be challenged.” Elsewhere the Casey Review made clear that it considered such views to include traditional views of sexuality. Dame Louise recommended “a new oath for holders of public office” indicating that this should express support for “British values.” Elsewhere in the report she included support for LGBT ideology as part of British values.’

Test Acts

The booklet reminds us that Parliament abolished various “Test Acts” between 1719 and 1871. It says: ‘These “Test Acts” required anyone wanting to become a school teacher, magistrate, local councillor, MP or university student to publicly assent, often by swearing an oath, to a particular set of beliefs. The law thus excluded Nonconformist Christians and Roman Catholics from any of the above positions.’

Orwellian: Dame Louise Casey
Orwellian: Dame Louise Casey

But in an astonishing display of anti-Christian prejudice, Dame Louise wrote: ‘While many people in the UK appear to be seeing religion as increasingly less important and, in some cases, less of a force for good, for others, religion is very important in their daily lives. Within this latter group there appear to be some who are keen to take religion backwards and away from 21st Century British values … on issues such as …sexual orientation.’

‘Turn the Tide’ contends that the courts and tribunals are upholding a new set of surreptitious Test Acts, brought in with no parliamentary scrutiny.

Cases cited by ‘Turn the Tide’

"<yoastmark

‘Turn the Tide’ cites the following recent cases in support:

In 2015, academics at Sheffield University expelled Felix Ngole from a social work course because he previously posted comments on Facebook supporting a Biblical view of marriage.

This is a new “University Test Act” it says – Sheffield University requires social work students to support same-sex marriage. And that is a religious or quasi-religious view.

In November 2017, Cherwell School in north Oxford suspended Christian teacher Joshua Sutcliffe.

Joshua Sutcliffe with Andrea Williams of Christian Concern
Joshua Sutcliffe with Andrea Williams of Christian Concern

His offence was inadvertently to include a girl pupil who claims to be a trans boy in an approving ‘Well done, girls.’ Mr Sutcliffe had immediately apologised, saying it had been a mere slip of tongue.

‘Turn the Tide’ goes on: ‘However, later the pupil’s mother complained that the comment was discriminatory. Mr Sutcliffe was removed from teaching and made to work in the staffroom while an investigation took place. He was then suspended for an indefinite period after the school said his “misgendering” breached its equality policy.’

In a third case, it says: ‘Andrew McClintock, who had served as a magistrate for 18 years on the South Yorkshire bench, was forced to resign after requesting to be “screened out” of cases involving children for adoption with same-sex households.’

Preaching cases more doubtful

"<yoastmark

When it comes to street preaching, ‘Turn the Tide’ is on less stable ground. Yes, Michael Overd and Michael Stockwell were convicted of public order offences in Bristol magistrates court in February last year. Indeed, the prosecutor told the court ‘that publicly quoting from the King James Bible “in the context of modern British society, must be considered to be abusive and is a criminal matter.”‘

But our brothers saw their conviction overturned in the Crown Court later that year. No street preacher, properly advised and represented, has ever been convicted of a public order offence in our jurisdictions.

Nor is the case of Pastor James McConnell compelling. He was indeed ‘prosecuted for a theological critique of Islam in a sermon he preached in his church’ in Belfast. The sermon appeared on YouTube.  According to the Guardian, Pastor James denounced Islam as “heathen”, “satanic” and a “doctrine spawned in hell”.  Charges came under the Communications Act.  But the court cleared Pastor James ‘after a three-day trial in a verdict that upheld the right to offend under the principle of freedom of expression.’

‘Turn the Tide’ calls for ‘a new law’

The DUP's Chief Whip and Defence spokesman Jeffrey Donaldson supports a new law
The DUP’s Chief Whip and Defence spokesman Jeffrey Donaldson supports a new law

Barnabas Fund is calling for a new law ‘which positively affirms all seven aspects of freedom of religion that have developed over the last 500 years in the UK.’ It has the written support of Sir Jeffrey Donaldson MP on the back page of ‘Turn the Tide’.

‘Turn the Tide’ says it will need to include ‘freedom from being required to affirm a particular worldview or set of beliefs in order to hold a public sector job or stand for election; work in professions such as teaching, healthcare and law; study at school, college or university; or give parental care to a child.’

Andrew McLintock lost his case to have his freedom of conscience recognized when practising as a Justice of the Peace. The Employment Appeal Tribunal ruled against him.

Similarly, Christian prison worker Barry Trayhorn lost his case at the Employment Appeal Tribunal in 2017. That was over his right to quote the Bible on homosexuality in a prison chapel service.

In 2009, as the Independent reports, Christian registrar Lillian Ladele lost in the Court of Appeal. She contested a ruling that she had not been discriminated against by being disciplined after she refused to conduct same-sex civil partnerships. And she lost.

Do we need a new law?

Whether we actually need a new law is open to debate.  The same judges will interpret any new law who are ruling against Christian freedoms on a day to day basis in our courts and tribunals. It may be that a law could be drafted in such a way as to compel judges to uphold freedom of religion. However, they might simply invoke the higher cause of ‘human rights’ and strike it down.

In 2013 both the Christian Institute and the National Secular Society became concerned at the number of Public Order Offences the police and prosecutors were bringing against Christian street preachers. The Christian Institute were concerned on the matter of Christian freedom. The National Secular Society were concerned from a freedom of speech point of view.  They wanted to protect comedians such as Rowan Atkinson who would insult religions and the religious.  They were also concerned about adverse publicity of police crackdowns on preachers.

As a result, the Institute and the Society joined forces.  They successfully campaigned to have the word ‘insulting’ removed from Section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986.

The change has made not a scrap of difference to Christian preachers. The police are still arresting them. The CPS are still preferring charges. They are merely basing the arrests and the charges on the word ‘abusive’ instead. They are, as we point out above, still losing those cases.

But the heavy-handed police approach needs not a new law but smarter guidance from senior officers.

Support the MPs

Christian Voice intends to start taking these cases to the streets. We are now planning a witness outside Sheffield University and another outside Cherwell School. Watch this space.

But in the meantime, the Bible says:

1Tim 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Please email your MP via this Parliament website link and ask him or her to attend the debate in Westminster Hall on Thursday and support MP’s Jim Shannon and Norman Lamb. Above all, please pray for the debate for the light of Christ to shine through.

George Soros ‘There to make money’

American billionaire George Soros gave a pro-EU campaign half-a-million pounds through his foundation, according to news outlets. (Note, all our links open in a new tab automatically).

Meanwhile, we have uncovered a video in which the financier shows a breathtaking lack of humanity and remorse.  See below.

Best for Britain?

The Best for Britain campaign, which unashamedly advocates snubbing the Brexit referendum and remaining in the EU, received £400,000 from Soros-funded Open Society Foundation since the June 2017 election, sources told the Guardian.

Gina Miller founded Best for Britain.  She took the UK government to court over the triggering of Article 50. The campaign is chaired by Lord Malloch-Brown, a leading political insider. Ignoring the 2016 Referrendum result, he says, ‘We, like millions of people, believe that Britain should lead, not leave, Europe.’ ‘Leading Europe’ is of course impossible for the UK or any other nation. The un-elected Commission, a self-perpetuating oligarchy, runs the EU.

Best for Britain’s CEO Eloise Todd said the group has ‘only one aim – to stop Brexit and do what’s best for Britain’.  However, after touring European capitals in the spring of 2016, I concluded what is ‘best for Britain’ is to leave the EU’s revived Roman empire as fast as we can.  This page on our website looks at the EU’s spiritual dimension and provides links to the videos.

George Soros made £1bn from the UK taxpayer

This scary sculpture of a woman holding the Euro aloft while men grovel at her feet is outside the EU Parliament building in Brussels.
This scary sculpture of a woman holding the Euro aloft while men grovel at her feet is outside the EU Parliament building in Brussels.

George Soros made more than £1bn at our expense by betting against the pound on Black Wednesday in September 1992. By the grace of God his actions forced the British government to pull out of the European exchange rate mechanism. That decision in turn kept the UK from joining the Euro, so some good came of it.
Recdently, Mr Soros has made no secret he believes holding the EU referendum was a ‘fatal error’. The billionaire has refused to ‘butt out’ of the debate. Last week he pledged yet another £100,000 to Best for Britain.

He said: ‘Prior to Brexit, Britain enjoyed the best of all possible worlds. It was a member of the European Union without adopting the Euro.

‘Britain, outside Europe, will lose much of its global influence. Economically, Britain will suffer because 45 years of successful integration with Europe will go into reverse.’

Soros fears disintegration – and Russia

But the Independent reported his real fear just after the 2016 referendum. Firstly, George Soros is terrified the EU will break apart after a successful Brexit and he will lose his influence over European affairs.   Last year we reported on the influence George Soros has amongst MEPs.  Financially he could be disadvantaged as well.

Secondly, the financier revealed another aspect of his thinking in this quote:

‘To make matters worse’, he said, ‘the divorce process will preoccupy both Britain and Europe for years ahead, when they should be uniting to resist external enemies like Putin’s Russia and resolve the internal contradictions that made some people regard the EU as their enemy.’

Members of "Pussy Riot" staged a foul-mouthed tirade in a Moscow Cathedral. George Soros put up money for it.
Members of “Pussy Riot” staged a foul-mouthed tirade in a Moscow Cathedral. George Soros put up money for it.

George Soros hates Russia.  Under Vladimir Putin the country has been returning to its Orthodox Christian heritage.   It is Russia, not the West, which defends Christian minorities in the Middle East.  We denounced the blasphemous Femen group and its Pussy Riot desecration of  a Moscow Cathedral here.  We also reported on them and on Moscow banning a homosexual parade.  And who is now the world’s biggest funder of pro-homosexual NGO’s worldwide?  The same man whose foundations, together with the US government, funded Pussy Riot and Femen?  Click here to see if you guessed right!

George Soros links to armaments

Mr Soros is also talking up the alleged threat from Russia for financial reasons.  Peace with Russia would remove the need for vast armies to be facing each other making money for armaments manufacturers.

The Panama Papers leaks, ironically funded by Soros, inadvertently revealed his links to the secretive Carlyle Group which invests heavily in armaments.

Other leaks show Soros maipulating news, whilst working against Russia and shoring up Hilary Clinton.

Ironically, although George Soros is the primary foreigner interfering in our internal affairs, the mainstream media persist in fingering Russia.  In this article on the RT website, security analyst Michael Maloof goes further and points out the history of interference by the US and UK in the affairs on sovereign countries.   Russian senators have listed one hundred examples of the US interfering in the elections of other countries.

Ex-CIA director James Woolsey has even admitted the US has interfered in elections in the past, but “only for a very good cause,” and when they thought rigging the vote would benefit democracy.  See here.

Interfering in sovereign nations

Mr Soros founded the Open Society Foundation. Recently he announced he was giving all his wealth to the Foundation. Ostensibly Open Society promotes democracy and open accountable government around the world.

However, Open Society has a history of interfering in the internal affairs of sovereign nations. Its activists promote the causes of feminism, sodomy and abortion throughout Africa and Asia. The Soros front funded the so-called Arab Spring uprising.

The billionaire helped set up Avaaz, the clicktist anti-Brexit eco-warrior group.  Avaaz sent agents into Syria with propaganda and communications equipment. Their involvement helped start the Syrian civil war, with help from the US and the UK.  That displaced tens of thousands of people, the majority of the Muslims, who then flooded into Europe.  Naturally, George Soros is all for Europe welcoming the Islamists in with open arms.  Although Hungarian-born, he hates the Hungarian government for refusing to take the anti-Christian migrants in.

Soros also collaborated with the EU to fund the Maidan Square trouble in Kiev. The uprising drove Ukraine’s elected but pro-Russian president from power. The resulting violence has left people dead, businesses ruined and Ukraine in turmoil. The eastern Russian-speaking minority turned to Moscow for help. Gleefully, the EU then blamed Russia for the instability it started itself.

Even today at the Munich Security Conference all the talk is about Russian ‘meddling’. It should be firstly concerned with protecting civilian populations from Islamic terrorists. Secondly, it should be promising to end the interference by the US, UK and France in the Middle East. It is that, after all, which led to the rise of Al-Qaeda and then to ISIS. And that is not even to suggest those Islamist organisations were set up with Western encouragement in the first place.

George Soros ‘there to make money’ video

Finally, we shall make one thing very clear.  The fact that George Soros is Jewish does not make exposing the evil he does ‘anti-Semitic’.   Theresa May’s former chief of staff, Nick Timothy, has picked up on the same donation as we have here.  He has been accused of “peddling textbook anti-Semitic tropes” in a Telegraph article he wrote.  The accusations have come from Bonnie Greer and Owen Jones.  Both are quite happy with the anti-Christian amoralism of George Soros as well as his anti-Brexit credentials.  But at least Owen Jones is pro-JewishBonnie Greer is boycotting Israel.

Finally, as trailed at the top of this article, and thanks to the off-Guardian website, we can see an extraordinary interview with George Soros.  The interviewer challenges him on the social implications of betting against national currencies and driving millions towards poverty. This is his response: ‘I am basically there to make money. I cannot and do not look at the social consequences of what I do.’ Watch this astonishing video here.

Everywhere Soros becomes involved, destruction, death and degradtion run riot. Sometimes he makes money from the turmoil. At other times it is merely his hatred of Christianity and his fanatical obesesion with advancing democracy and perversion which drives him. We must pray fervently that his works are exposed and brought to ruin.

But let us also pray with compassion for the man himself. Pray he repents at finds salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ even at this eleventh hour of his life. He may never be able to undo all the evil he has set in train, but at least one soul would be saved from the fires of hell.

Evolutionists cling to Darwin Day

Charles Darwin knew nothing of DNA or molecular biology
Charles Darwin knew nothing of DNA or molecular biology

Professor John Gowlett - crazy about Darwin and Lucy
Professor John Gowlett – crazy about Darwin and Lucy

Atheists in Manchester are clinging on to Charles Darwin as if he were the fount of all wisdom.

Each year, says an email, ‘Greater Manchester Humanists put on a Darwin Day event as a major meeting where we invite noted academics to give lectures on cutting edge advances or new insights into the world of science that has been informed by Darwin’s discoveries.’

Two professors

They have found two professors to speak at the meeting.  The meeting will be held on Monday 12th February, Darwin’s birthday, designated ‘Darwin Day’.

Guy Otten, a ‘humanist celebrant’, chairs the Manchester God-deniers.  He is also a trustee of the British Humanist Association.  He said: ‘Darwin’s insights are still (amazingly) being denied in the 21st century by people motivated by anti-science founded on religious belief. Supporting and promoting Darwin Day is thus an important step and statement.’

This is almost a self-parody of the atheist position.  So shaky is their confidence, they have to denigrate their opponents as ‘anti-science’.  Actually, it was religious belief that prompted science in the first place. Scientists from the fifteenth century to the present day were, and still are, Christians.  (Although the term ‘scientist’ was not coined until 1833.)  Here are just some of them.  But there is a longer list here.

Where did ‘laws of nature’ come from?

Inquisitive believers wanted to know how God’s creation worked.  We still do.  What laws did the Almighty put in place to govern creation?  In Proverbs chapter eight his law is characterised as ‘wisdom’.  It declares:

Prov 8:23  I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

If the laws of physics, chemistry, biology, thermodynamics and so on were not put in place in the beginning, where did they come from?  What wisdom created them?  Because, make no mistake, they had to be there or the universe would blow apart.

One of those is the law of biogenesis: Life comes only from life.  Indeed, scientists have only observed life coming from the same kind of life, just as the word of God states in the first chapter of the Bible:

Genesis 1:11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
Gen 1:25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Australopithecus

All that remains of 'Lucy' the extinct ape
All that remains of ‘Lucy’ the extinct ape – still touted as the elusive ‘missing link’

One of the speakers at the Darwin Day event is scheduled to be Professor John Gowlett.  Prof Gowlett holds the degrees of MA PhD FSA FRAI.  He is Professor of Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology at the University of Liverpool.  The other speaker is zooarchaeologist Prof Keith Dobney BA; MSc; PhD.

The subject will be: ‘HUMAN EVOLUTION: from Australopithecus to Archaeological Science.’

‘Australopithecus’ refers to ‘Lucy’.  Evolutionists have hailed her as the elusive ‘missing link’ between apes and men.  However, others point out Lucy was actually a extinct  ape.  Moreover, they do this from a scientific mindset, evaluating the evidence.

Dr Gowlett says: ‘My research interests in human evolution focus especially on the middle times between the ape-like australopithecines and the appearance of Homo sapiens within the last half million years.’

Anyone with an evolutionary axe to grind must ignore the evidence that Lucy was really an ape.  Above all, we see that evolutionism is a quasi-religious view.  It’s a belief’.  People ‘believe’ Darwin’s Theory, despite modern advances in DNA and molecular biology.  Biologists defend evolution not because it is true, but because tens of thousands of jobs and reputations depend on it.  This is blind faith, if anything is.

The witness of yeast

But what of Professor’s Gowlett’s idea that Lucy ‘evolved’ into people ‘within the last half million years’?  Evolution depends on massive time-scales.  Any baker or brewer knows about yeast.  Yeast reproduces every fifteen minutes.  In broad terms, it goes through 35,000 generations in a year.  That is the equivalent of 1,000,000 years of human generations.  But at the end of all that time, it is still yeast.  It has shown no inclination to become anything else.

Saccharomyces Carlsbergensis - the Carlsberg yeast shows no inclination to evolve into anything else after 4,000,000 generations
`

The Carlsberg Brewery in Denmark still uses the Saccharomyces Carlsbergensis which Emil Hansen purified in 1883.  Yeast fits into God’s creation just fine as it is.  In fact, ecologists are only now showing how inter-dependent is the whole of God’s eco-system.   This BBC webpage shows some of the intricate links.  It all had to be in place ‘in the beginning’.

Or as the Bible puts it:

Psalm 104:14 He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;

Indeed, sometimes we just have to stand in awe of the whole of creation:

Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

And to those who purport to know it all, God still asks, as he demanded of Job:

Job 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

Darwin knew nothing of DNA

Charles Darwin knew nothing of DNA or molecular biology
Charles Darwin knew nothing of DNA or molecular biology

Darwin himself lived from 1809 to 1882.  He puiblished ‘On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life’ in 1859.

In the same year, as this website shows, Louis Pasteur disproved the theory of ‘spontaneous generation’, popular during Darwin’s lifetime.  But just-so stories endure.  Eleven years later, in 1870, Thomas Huxley, ‘Darwin’s bulldog’, proclaimed the ability of life to come from non-life. Furthermore, evolutionists still believe in abiogenesis today.  They seriously believe life arose from non-life.

Then ignoring Information Theory they maintain that more complex organisms ‘evolved’ from less complex ones.  However, molecular biologists have shot down this idea at first post.  Bacteria do not have the power to evolve into cells with a nucleus.  And with 1,000 times the DNA of bacteria, those are the building blocks of life.  We reported on this study here.  Now then, how have evolutionists reacted to this evidence?  They have ignored it.

Speaking of blind faith, Darwin not only knew nothing of DNA and molecular biology.  He was also ignorant of microbes.  Robert Kock only isolated them in 1881.  He published his research on tuberculosis in the year of Darwin’s death.  Before that, people believed the disease was inherited.

Evolutionists are anti-science

Humanist 'celebrant' Guy Otten
Humanist ‘celebrant’ Guy Otten

Despite their bluster, it is the evolutionists who are ‘anti-science’ if anyone is.  They ignore real scientific advances post-1859.  They try constantly to force annoying evidence into an evolutionary grid.  We all do this, because we are fallible human beings.  But at least we Christians admit it, and frankly, the evidence increasingly supports our position than theirs in any case.

Darwin’s Theory of Evolution is shaking.  That’s why Mr Otten speaks despairingly of ‘the need to affirm evolutionary science among your family and friends by inviting them along. This is important in this day and age.’  In 2009, the bicentenary of Darwin’s birth, a poll found half of all Britons do not believe his theory.  Only 25% went wholeheartedly with Darwin.  Just last year, according to another poll, despite 38% of Americans believing equally in creation and some form of God-guided evolution, a mere 19% accepted the atheist position.  Nevertheless, that figure has doubled in thirty-five years.

Evangelism

Luke 10:2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

The event will be held from 7.30pm, with doors open at 5.30.  The venue is Manchester Conference Centre, 78, Sackville Street, Manchester, M1 3BB.  Tickets are priced on the eventbrite website at £8 and £5 for the unwaged.  Christians are unlikely to attend and pour any money into atheist coffers.  Nevertheless, we should pray.  Holding prayer at the venue would be useful.

Ofsted targets ‘fundamentalists’

Amanda Spielman, head of Ofsted
Amanda Spielman, head of Ofsted

Amanda Spielman, head of Ofsted
Amanda Spielman, head of Ofsted

According to the BBC, England’s chief inspector of schools is targetting what she calls ‘fundamentalists’ and ‘religious extremists’.

Amanda Spielman, head of Ofsted, says some community leaders see schools as vehicles to ‘indoctrinate impressionable minds’.

They use schools to narrow children’s horizons and ‘pervert education’, she says. Some schools even promote ‘extremist ideology’.

She is asking head teachers to confront those who foster what she terms ‘extremist behaviour’.

Ofsted on ‘Forms of liberalism’

‘Rather than adopting a passive liberalism that says anything goes, for fear of causing offence, schools leaders should be promoting a muscular liberalism,’ Ms Spielman said.  She was speaking today at a conference held by the Church of England in London.

‘That sort of liberalism holds no truck for ideologies that seek to close minds or narrow opportunity.

‘Occasionally that will mean taking uncomfortable decisions or having tough conversations.

‘It means not assuming that the most conservative voices in a particular faith speak for everyone.’

She added: ‘Ofsted inspectors are increasingly brought into contact with those who want to actively pervert the purpose of education’.

Extremist ideology

‘Under the pretext of religious belief, they use education institutions, legal and illegal, to narrow young people’s horizons, to isolate and segregate, and in the worst cases to indoctrinate impressionable minds with extremist ideology.

‘Freedom of belief in the private sphere is paramount, but in our schools it is our responsibility to tackle those who actively undermine fundamental British values or equalities law.’

She is making the speech to support head teacher Neena Lall, of St Stephen’s state primary in east London. Ms Lall has tried to prevent children under the age of eight from wearing the hijab in class. Generally speaking, Muslim girls, although not all of them, wear the hijab after the age of 10. Ms Lall also tried to stop younger pupils from taking part in Ramadan fasting during school hours.

‘All forms of fundamentalism’

Tahir Alam, alleged "ringleader" of the Trojan Horse Plot of Muslims to take over secular schools, was also the co-author of a <strong><a href="https://www.christianvoice.org.uk/index.php/trojan-horse-plot-strategy-revealed/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">72-page document revealing the strategy</a></strong>. See below
Tahir Alam, alleged “ringleader” of the Trojan Horse Plot of Muslims to take over secular schools, was also the co-author of a 72-page document revealing the strategy. See below…

So far, so anti-Muslim, but naturally the Chief Inspector implied she also has Christian schools in her sights. Ofsted said Ms Spielman was not targeting the Islamic faith, but ‘all forms of fundamentalism’.

A Department for Education official said: ‘Extremism has no place in our society.

That’s why we changed the law and the requirements on schools so that they have to actively promote the ‘fundamental British values’ of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and the mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

‘If there are any allegations of schools promoting ideologies or discrimination in the classroom, we will not hesitate to take action.’

What it means for Christians

There are two ways of looking at this story. Maybe it really is all about Islam.  In this view, Ofsted is putting up a smokescreen with its ‘all forms of fundamentalism’ line.

Or perhaps Ofsted really have Christian schools in their sights. This view might make better sense.  There have already been disturbing accounts of Ofsted inspectors marking down Christian schools.

The Independent reported in January 2017: ‘A number of Christian fundamentalist schools have been downgraded by government inspectors following an investigation by The Independent which revealed children at some schools that follow the Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) curriculum are taught that LGBT people are inferior and girls must submit to men.’ There are 26 ACE schools registered in the UK.

According to the Daily Telegraph, ‘Nine out of 10 schools linked to the Christian Education Europe network were deemed inadequate or said to be requiring improvement in their latest visit by the regulator in October 2016, despite most receiving positive feedback previously.

‘Criticisms included failing to balance lessons on the creation with teaching about evolution and not addressing other faiths in class in deep enough detail.’

Christian school forced to close

Ofsted forced Cornerstone School in Epsom to close
Ofsted forced Cornerstone School in Epsom to close

And in November 2015, as a local paper reports, Cornerstone School in Epsom was forced to close. Ofsted reported pupils at the small Christian faith school in Epsom had ‘a limited view of the world.’ They were not ‘open to the views of those who might have different beliefs than those offered by church members’.

In the Guardian’s article, Ofsted reported: ‘Pupils do not have sufficient opportunity to learn about and consider the lives of those who have a different religious faith or no faith.’

Headteacher Grahame Davies said: ‘The mountain of demands made by Ofsted meant that, after over 27 years as headteacher, I felt I was not the person to take the school forward.

‘Our unique setting means that this is much easier said than done, so the governors realised they had little option but to close the school.’

Parents’ responsibility

Teaching about creation has been one other way in which Christian schools have incurred the wrath of Ofsted. So is teaching Biblical morality and not giving room to condom-based sex education.  The Bible shows the importance of sound teaching here, but it cuts both ways:

Prov 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Going further, parents have the responsibility for their children’s education:

Deut 6:7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

The New Testament reinforces that doctrine:

Eph 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

It follows that Muslim parents have the right to bring up their children as they see fit. Nevertheless, they should not do this at public expense. If they are delegating the duty, as is their right, they should pay for it themselves.  Moreover, we should be clear.  They may not teach murder or treason.  However, teaching against the transient fashion of ‘equalities law’ may be a prophetic act, whoever does it.

Indoctrination

Muslims, however, prefer to have their cake and eat it. They put their children into state schools.  When there are enough Muslim children, they make sure the school becomes Islamic. However, the State will certainly inspect schools which have public funding. Moreover, if it finds that a Muslim clique has taken over, Ofsted should take action.  This was what happened in the Trojan Horse scandal in Birmingham.

But firstly, as is clear, even private schools are under the inspection regime. Secondly, Ofsted used the Trojan Horse problem to bring in the absurd ‘British Values’ idea, and try to compel all schools to become ‘liberal’ and ‘tolerant’ notably of perversion.

Amanda Spielman, head of Ofsted, says some community leaders see schools as vehicles to ‘indoctrinate impressionable minds’. But Ofsted itself wants to ‘indoctrinate impressionable minds’ – in all schools. It will do that with its own liberal values.

Ofsted express outrage at schools ‘promoting ideologies’. But every school does that.  Ofsted mean ‘ideologies we do not share.’  We may feel a constitutional Christian State should insist on Christian ideology. But the elite are now overwhelmingly secularist, and they defend their privileged position by all means possible.

Home schoolers

German Social Services took the Wunderlich children because their parents were home-schooling them. Home-schooling is illegal in Germany.

Finally, home schoolers should be on guard.  Ofsted and its Scottish and Northern Irish equivalents will not stop until home schooling is either outlawed or registered. The Biblical idea of parents educating their children is anathema to the elite.

They believe the ‘purpose of education’ is to make children uncritical servants of the state.

Radical Christians or New Agers often head such households. Either way, the elite see them as places of insurrection against the system.

Do not think a clamp-down cannot happen. Home schooling is illegal in Germany.  Children will be taken away from home-schooling parents, as we reported here.

In 2009, an MP proposed outlawing home schooling in this jurisdiction.  The move led to a huge petition, in which Christian Voice was involved.   Our report on that is here.  And local authorities have been known to take children into care because they are being home-schooled.  You can find our report on such a travesty of justice in Medway here.

Be on high alert.

We’ll really appreciate your support
