Christian Voice UK won our first ever award by the grace of God at the GX Awards on Saturday 6th September 2025 at a glittering evening ceremony in Birmingham Town Hall.
What began as a morning of prayer overlooking the site of a proposed ‘megamosque’ on 6th January 2007 became a monthly event, then an outreach of prayer for the nation held every first Saturday in the month, rain or shine.
Honoured to be nominated
Christian Voice National Director, Stephen Green, said today: ‘We were so honoured just to be nominated among such a distinguished roll-call of community events. To win the prize and be presented with the award was on another level.
Stephen and Judy Green with the Award for Best Community Outreach Event at the GX Awards 2025.
‘I must congratulate Annette B. on organising such an encouraging and uplifting awards ceremony, complete with high-class catering. It’s a lot of work, but it is so valuable to recognise the Christian community.
‘We do our best to feature a leading Gospel singer at every meeting. For example, on the morning of Saturday 6th September 2025 our praise and worship was led by Sarah Teibo, who has herself previously won Best Female Vocalist at the GX Awards.
‘Indeed, we finished the morning’s prayer at 1pm and I had to catch no fewer than four trains to reach Birmingham in time for the GX Awards.
‘My wife Judith drove up from our home in West Wales and it was lovely to share the award with her on the night. I must also thank all those who prayed for us to win. Your prayer was answered as our efforts in bringing the Bible to bear on the issues of day, seeing what scripture says about current events, was recognised. Praise the Lord for that.’

This autumn brings a series of 14 worship programmes from every corner of the UK – from Gravesend to Islandmagee
The BBC has announced a new series of 14 programmes under the title ‘Prayer and Reflection’.
Beginning 14 September 2025, the season will feature services and ceremonies from six of the ‘major faiths’ represented in the UK.
It includes programmes covering Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, and Sikhism.
Each Sunday morning, viewers will be invited into what producers describe as “sacred spaces” to share in prayer and devotion.
From synagogues and mosques to gurdwaras, temples, and monasteries, the programmes seek to highlight Britain’s religious diversity.
The intention, according to the BBC, is to show how prayer and reflection form a central part of spiritual life across different traditions.
This is an ambitious project. But it also raises important questions about how Christianity, the faith that has shaped the nation for centuries, will sit within such a multi-faith showcase.
Within the schedule, Christian worship is certainly represented. Services will be broadcast from Presbyterian, Catholic, Pentecostal, and Anglican churches, culminating in a Christmas service from St Giles’ Cathedral, Edinburgh. Yet these appear as part of a broader collection of traditions, rather than the backbone of the series.
To many, this reflects the BBC’s desire to be ‘balanced and inclusive’, offering each faith a voice in the public square. When Christianity is presented as one among many, its historic role as the foundation of British life and culture risks being diminished.
It is worth remembering that Christianity is not only part of our national story, but the root of it. The Bible shaped our laws, our education, our freedoms, and even the language we speak.
It is clear that the guiding principle of Prayer and Reflection is ‘inclusivity’. The BBC wishes to reflect the diversity of faith within modern Britain, showing that each tradition has something to contribute to the national conversation.
There is much to commend in giving a platform to minority communities who rarely see their forms of worship represented on screen. It allows viewers to learn, to reflect, and perhaps to better understand their neighbours.
And yet, when ‘inclusivity’ becomes the main measure of success, there is a danger that truth is obscured. Christianity is not one option among many, but the faith which declares Christ as “the only way”
John 14:6 ‘Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

An opportunity for reflection
Despite these concerns, the BBC’s new season does present an opportunity for Christians to connect with God. It is a reminder that prayer and worship to the one and only true God remain part of the rhythm of life for millions of people in the UK. At a time when secular voices are often the loudest, that in itself is striking.
The call of the church is not to compete for airtime, but to proclaim Christ clearly.
2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
If nothing else, Prayer and Reflection invites us to think again about what it means to be a Christian nation in a ‘diverse society’.

Christian Voice is to have a new logo. Our current logo, featuring the ‘Ripon Horn’, dates from when we started in 1994, thirty-one years ago.
The Ripon horn symbolises God’s protection. It is still blown every night at 9 pm to ‘set the watch’ over the North Yorkshire city. The tradition is believed to have originated when King Alfred the Great granted Ripon a Royal Charter and a horn in 886AD. This led to the appointment of a watchman, or wakeman, to patrol the settlement during the hours of darkness.
It also led to the Ripon motto, ‘Except the Lord Keep the Cittie the Wakeman Waketh in Vain,’ which you will recognise as a quote from Psalm 127:1:
Psalm 127:1 A Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. (KJV)
Prayer for protection
We still pray that for our cities and our United Kingdom. That prayer was especially to the fore just over twenty years ago. We prayed for the Lord to protect our land in the aftermath of the 7/7 London bombings. Precisely two weeks later the Lord himself showed his power by bringing the devices of a further group of Islamic terrorists to naught.
Indeed, I made a video in 2016 outside the Maalbeek metro station in Brussels just after a terrorist attack on that city’s underground network. I explained how our security servivces need our prayers for God’s blessing. Take a look:
Since the inception of Christian Voice, we have prayed for national repentance for our leaders who have been legislating in stark rebellion from the righteous laws of God. But today, the United Kingdom is deep in sins which in 1994 we never imagined our elites would lead us into. With each day that passes we are seeing, not the Lord’s protection, but increasingly his judgment:
Psalm 81:12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels.
J D Unwin discovered that no civilisation which allowed its family structure to crumble escaped going down the rubbish chute of history.
It was anthropologist J D Unwin who declared in his 1934 book ‘Sex and Culture’ that throughout human history, a nation with a self-confident deistic culture with strong sexual morality would always overtake and defeat a society which had set aside its sexual restraints. See Kirk Durston’s analysis. Unwin wrote: ‘Any human society is free to choose either to display great energy or to enjoy sexual freedom; the evidence is that it cannot do both for more than one generation.’
Judgment has been falling on us for decades now, as a result of the ungodly measures enacted first in the 1960s and increasingly to this day: Lack of respect for God, for life and for family has resulted in a lack of respect for our fellow men and women, in a society which holds nothing sacred and in which those in power enrich themselves and care nothing for those below them. But it can become much, much worse.
How many of the young men trying to enter Britain through Calais, or trudging through Europe, are genuine rfugees, and how many IS sleepers? No-one knows, but IS claim ‘thousands’.
In that light, it is difficult not to see the hordes of young Muslims arriving here daily and illegally by boat, encouraged by successive governments, topping up their fellow religionists already here, young men of second generation, as a slow-burn Islamic invasion.
Those in power still cannot see that their sacred cow of multiculturalism, designed to eradicate the Christianity upon which this nation was built but whose divine founder they hate, does not lead to sunlit uplands, but to disaster. Even now they act as apologists for Islam, the ideology which will destroy them. We are standing against their ungodly, defeatist idea of defining ‘Islamophobobia’. Sign our petition against that:
King Charles at the Saudi-funded Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, of which he is Patron.
King Charles himself says it is ‘more imperative than ever’ to understand Islam and the Muslim world. Indeed it is, but not through his prism of multiculturalism.
In Deuteronomy 28, the Lord himself describes an invasion such as we are now experiencing as his judgment:
Deut 28:49 The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand; 50 A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old, nor shew favour to the young:
Prayer for National Repentance
Christian Voice – new shofar logo
There is only one way to stop the judgment from falling and it is national repentance. In our case it would involve a whole-hearted return to our country’s Christian constitution, exemplified by His Majesty’s coronation on 6th May 2023 together with a fearless proclamation from our elite of our nation’s dedication to Jesus Christ, the King of kings.
That is why in the days to come we shall changing our logo from the horn of protection to the shofar, warning of judgment:
Joel 2:1 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;
Scripture shows such repentance followed by God’s blessing is possible but rare. It depends on the king being a man of humility. Perhaps the best example is ancient Judah’s King Josiah:
2Kings 22:13 (cf 2Chr 34:21) Go ye, enquire of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.
We shall speak more about this in the days to come. In the meantime, sign our petition calling for those in office to repent:

A video circulating on social media shows Jesse Samuel, a Christian street preacher, being surrounded by police officers during an open-air service in Croydon, London.
In the footage, Samuel continues declaring the Gospel as officers appear to confront him over the content of his message.
This is not an isolated event. In recent years, similar scenes have played out across the UK, raising concerns that openly preaching Christ in public spaces is increasingly viewed as provocative by authorities and passersby alike.
Isaiah 59:14 And judgement is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.
This incident is part of a growing pattern across the UK. Pastor Oluwole Ilesanmi was arrested outside Southgate Tube Station in 2019 for “breaching the peace” while reading the Bible.
Another preacher, Dale Mcalpine, arrested in Cumbria, was charged for stating biblical beliefs on homosexuality. Meanwhile, John Sherwood, a 71-year-old pastor, was also arrested in Uxbridge for preaching traditional family values.
A former pastor at Cumnock Baptist Church, Angus Cameron, was detained for over an hour in Glasgow while preaching on Buchanan Street in January 2022. Additionally, he was awarded £9,400 in legal costs, and he chose to donate the entire amount to the Christian Institute, which supported him throughout the case.
Clive Johnson, a retired pastor from Northern Ireland faced prosecution for preaching the Gospel in an open-air Sunday service near Coleraine’s Causeway Hospital.
Despite the preacher not mentioning abortion, nor directly engaging with patients or staff, the 76-year-old was charged under the Abortion Services (Safe Access Zones) Act.
Street preaching is not disorder, it is a protected expression of conscience. Yet police frequently treat Gospel truth as a threat.
Acts 4:18-20 Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.
In today’s UK, rainbow crossings, trans flags, and drag performances are celebrated openly on our streets. Government buildings fly the transgender flag. Schools push gender ideology. Pride events receive police protection and funding.
Yet when a preacher quotes Scripture, it is met with police presence.
What is legal in Britain is no longer determined by truth, but by what offends the ruling moral order.
Romans 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind.
Police guidance supports preaching, but not in practice
In past years, police chiefs have acknowledged street preaching as lawful.
The College of Policing issued training noting that “expressing religious beliefs in public places is lawful.” The Crown Prosecution Service has also recognised the right to preach in open spaces.
But on the ground, the law is often ignored. Preachers are moved on, arrested, or threatened, not for how they preach, but for what they preach.
Amos 5:10 They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.
Britain needs bold preachers, not silent watchmen
The Lord Jesus Christ did not avoid offence. He preached repentance. He warned of hell. He called sinners to salvation. A Gospel that offends no one saves no one.
Preachers on British streets are not extremists, they are watchmen. And if they are silenced, the blood of this generation is on our hands.
Ezekiel 3:18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning… his blood will I require at thine hand.
Let the Church arise and take her stand
The answer is not retreat—it is resistance. The Church must not let this nation go quietly into apostasy. We must raise our voices. We must defend those who are threatened for declaring the truth in public.
If the name of Christ is now a “public order” offence, Britain has lost her soul.

Rachael calls for debate over coronavirus impact on care homes | Rachael Maskell MP – Rachael Maskell – Labour and Co-operative MP for York Central
Christian MP for York Central, Rachael Maskell, has been suspended from the Labour Party by Sir Keir Starmer.
Ms Maskell, along with Neil Duncan-Jordan, Brian Leishman, and Chris Hinchliff, has had her party membership temporarily revoked after voting against the government on the controversial welfare bill.
Though the bill passed by a majority of 75, Ms Maskell’s stand helped carve out the largest rebellion Mr Starmer has faced since becoming leader.Ultimately, the PM scrapped the proposed PIP eligibility changes.
However, it must be said the Personal Independence Payment system is deeply flawed. It pays people 16 and over up to £74 per week to have a long-term health condition or disability, covering non-problems like the inability to cook, wash up or wait for a bus. A young person’s mother can then apply to be a carer, gaining even more money. This report shows it pays people to be indolent and does nothing to help them into work. The Bible says:
Proverbs 31:9 Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.
But there are better ways to do that than to encourage them to consider themselves ill. The Bible says:
2Thess 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
Describing herself as “Labour to the core,” the MP for York Central explained her choice as a matter of principle, not politics. “I’m not angry,” she told reporters. “I’m upset—for the party.” She added: “The reason why I voted the way I did was because I believe in fighting for people.”
“As someone of deep conviction and faith,” she wrote, “I bring these values with me in all I do in representing my constituents.” She may be wrong on the PIP scandal, but Rachael Maskell has consistently voted pro-life, against abortion and euthanasia. On the other hand, she has supported transgenderism.
Well does the Bible tell us to put our trust in God, not in fallible leaders.

A Christian woman has been vilified for upholding biblical truth about gender, according to the Telegraph.
Victoria Culf, a professional artist with two decades of experience, was reported to the police and banned from her own art exhibition at Watford Museum, after expressing her Christian conviction that gender transition harms children.
Her quiet words — shared during a conversation over tea with a council worker — were later twisted into allegations of harassment. Shockingly, she was also falsely informed that she was under police investigation, though no such action existed.
Despite the friendly tone of the initial conversation, which Mrs Culf recalls as “calm and amicable,” she was later confronted with claims of harassment, threats to her professional work, and an unjust ban from her own exhibition.
Matthew 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you… for my sake.
Though Hertfordshire Police stated clearly that what Victoria Culf said amounted to free speech and not a crime, the Watford Borough Council continued treating her like a criminal.
The council official falsely claimed the incident had been logged by the Hate Crime Officer and reportedly fabricated a crime reference number. Court documents show that the accuser went so far as to write to a senior council official insisting the matter was being pursued by police — a complete fabrication.
This deception resulted in Mrs Culf being marginalised from the very exhibition she had funded and organised.
Exodus 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Victoria’s contract was terminated. Her artwork, presented as part of a local creative initiative by BEEE Creative, was reportedly damaged during the course of the event.
Her exclusion from the project — based entirely on her views rooted in Christian morality and concern for children — has become the subject of legal action.
The Christian Legal Centre is representing her in a case that will test the boundaries of religious freedom and the creeping hostility toward those who dare to dissent from gender ideology.
John 10:13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
Reflecting on the trauma, Victoria said: ‘I genuinely feared a knock at the door or a call asking me to explain myself — or worse. I now know this was a pack of lies, designed to intimidate me.’
Her words cut through the darkness surrounding the incident. She stood calmly for the truth, yet found herself accused, marginalised, and silenced — not by courts, nor police, but by unelected council employees willing to bend the truth to support an ideology.
The Bible says, 2 Timothy 1:7 God hath not given us the spirit of fear… but of a sound mind.
This is not merely a local council dispute. This is Britain in decline, where a council officer can override police truth, cancel an artist, and walk away unchallenged — all for the crime of saying children should not be given drugs to stop puberty.
Once again, Christians in public life are punished for speaking the truth in love. Mrs Culf’s case echoes other battles, including Sally Dixon, Franklin Graham, and Maya Forstater, where freedom of conscience and biblical conviction come under siege.
Christian Voice will continue to report such cases — standing with those who honour God, even when the state refuses to.

Christians protest outside primary school over 'disgraceful' scrapping of Easter service to 'respect' other religions | Daily Mail Online
A secular primary school in England has been criticised for cancelling its annual Easter Bonnet Parade and church service.
Norwood Primary School in Eastleigh, Hampshire says the decision to cancel the event was made to create a more “inclusive” environment.
Around fifty Christians gathered outside Norwood Primary School in Eastleigh, Hampshire on April 4 to protest the school’s decision, according to The Telegraph.
Parents outraged after U.K. school axes Easter celebration because it’s not ‘inclusive’
Protesters from a Disciples of Christ church held signs that read, “Christ is King,” “End the persecution of Christians,” and “the one true faith.” They also held a banner that read, “Headteacher Stephanie Mander wants to cancel Easter – let’s cancel her!”
Meanwhile, Headteacher Stephanie Mander stated the decision was made “in the spirit of inclusivity and respect for the diverse religious beliefs represented” in the school’s community.
Instead, the school plans to celebrate Easter within the classroom setting, aiming to create an environment where all children feel included.
The decision has met with significant opposition from parents and community members.
Former Home Secretary Suella Braverman labelled the move as “cultural surrender,” emphasising the importance of preserving Britain’s Christian roots.
Dr. Gavin Ashenden, a former chaplain to the Queen, criticised the school’s leadership, describing the cancellation as an act of “Christianophobia” and a failure to uphold the nation’s cultural identity.
Many parents shared that they only learned of the cancellation through a quiet notice and felt blindsided. A few parents expressed frustration that their children had spent days preparing for the Easter Bonnet Parade, only to be told it was no longer happening.
While the school maintains that Easter will still be acknowledged through classroom activities, we argue that removing public celebrations diminishes the significance of the holiday.
The situation at Norwood Primary reflects a broader trend in the UK, where traditional Christian observances are increasingly sidelined in public institutions under the banner of inclusivity.
For instance, Adderley Primary School in Birmingham reportedly renamed Easter eggs to “chocolate eggs” to avoid Christian connotations. Such changes raise questions about the balance between “inclusivity” and the preservation of cultural traditions.
Who’s really in charge of this government? Is it the elected leaders, or the unelected cultural forces that seem to be pulling the strings behind the scenes? While this administration talks about unity and stability, it is clear that the ideological undercurrents shaping public life run far deeper than any manifesto.
From schools to media to corporate training rooms, a new orthodoxy dominates—one that prioritises identity politics, erases tradition, and dismisses dissent as bigotry. Under this climate, even long-standing Christian customs like Easter parades or nativity plays are deemed too controversial or “exclusive.”
And what has this government done to challenge it? Very little. Instead of reasserting Britain’s heritage and values, it appears to be tiptoeing around cultural radicals who demand endless appeasement.
Rather than defending common sense, the state has become a quiet accomplice in the redefinition of everything—from gender and family to faith and national history.
The concern is not only about who occupies 10 Downing Street, it is about who controls the narrative.
Christians protest outside primary school over ‘disgraceful’ scrapping of Easter service to ‘respect’ other religions | Daily Mail Online
Today’s children are growing up in an education system more focused on pronouns and cultural sensitivity than literacy and national history.
From early years, they’re taught about gender identity and diverse family structures, but what about traditional values, the Bible, or national heritage?
Confusion, not clarity, now defines childhood education. When Christmas, Easter, and even gender are treated as “offensive,” what morals do children develop? When schools preach the virtue of “self-identification” over self-discipline, where is the foundation for resilience and moral character?
The Bible says, Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness
Children need stability, clarity, and truth, not ideology dressed as education. If we fail to give that, we fail the next generation. The Bible says in Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
But today, it seems we are training children not in the way they should go, but in whatever direction feels politically correct.
A Nation at a Crossroads
Britain stands at a cultural and spiritual crossroads. Will it reaffirm its Christian roots and protect its children from ideological confusion, or will it continue down the road of cultural self-erasure? The time to decide is now.
The church, parents, and community leaders must reclaim their voice. Christianity is not an outdated relic—it is the moral and cultural bedrock of this nation.
In 2 Timothy 4:3-4, Paul wrote: For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears…And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
We are in that time. And unless this generation begins to speak boldly and clearly, Britain may soon forget who she is—and who she was meant to be.

Militant atheists are trying to ban prayers before parliamentary sessions. They have found a Member of Parliament to table what is known as an Early Day Motion, calling for daily prayers to be abolished.
Their last attempt, in 2019, attracted a total of fifteen signatures. This time around, it looks as if nine MPs have signed so far.
According to the Parliament website, the Speaker’s Chaplain usually reads the prayers. The form of the main prayer is as follows: ‘Lord, the God of righteousness and truth, grant to our King and his government, to Members of Parliament and all in positions of responsibility, the guidance of your Spirit. May they never lead the nation wrongly through love of power, desire to please, or unworthy ideals,
‘but laying aside all private interests and prejudices keep in mind their responsibility to seek to improve the condition of all mankind; so may your kingdom come and your name be hallowed. Amen.’
(In the video, I mistakenly say ‘the’ instead of ‘his’ government. It’s important to remember the government is responsible to the king, because that puts it under the King of kings.)
The House of Lords prayers follow much of the Church of England’s Order for Morning Prayer, including a quote from Proverbs 8: ‘Almighty God, by whom alone Kings reign, and Princes decree justice; and from whom alone cometh all counsel, wisdom, and understanding;’
It’s powerful stuff, beginning from the premise that almighty God is indeed interested and involved in the national affairs of men. And Christian prayers have had a formal place in Parliament for at least four hundred and fifty years. Sign our petition:
The secularist motion starts off by demanding: ‘that religious worship should not play any part in the formal business of the House of Commons.’ This is despite the United Kingdom having an explicit Christian constitution, most eloquently expressed, of course, in our monarch’s coronation.
On the 6th of May 2023, King Charles kissed the Holy Bible and was anointed by the Archbishop of Canterbury to rule in the name, and under the authority of, the Lord Jesus Christ, the King of kings.
The motion continues to suggest having prayers means ‘Parliamentary meetings’ are not ‘equally welcoming to all attendees’, despite attendance being entirely voluntary.
Here’s the nub of their argument: ‘Parliamentary prayers are not compatible with a society that respects the principles of freedom of and from religion’.
Did you see what they did there? ‘Freedom … from religion.’ But of course, banning daily prayers would be to impose atheism on the United Kingdom. And that is what the God-haters are really after, to declare there is no spiritual aspect to our national life
‘Analysis by Pew Research Center last year revealed less than 10% of people in the UK pray every day – the lowest percentage out of 102 countries.’
Well, it’s good they give a link, because it allows us to see their claim is false. The UK isn’t the lowest. That’s Japan.
In fact, the UK beats Switzerland, Denmark, the Czech Republic and Estonia as well. But to be fair, we are sat on ten percent along with Sweden, Latvia and Finland, just below France, Belgium and Germany.
Pew Research Centre comment: ‘People in nearly all European countries surveyed are among the least likely to say that religion is very important in their lives.’
Another way of looking at the statistic might be to suggest that the reason the United Kingdom and much of Western Europe is in such a mess is that so few people are praying. But the atheists ought to be very careful what they wish for.
It’s not just that all our freedoms and traditions are based on Christianity, even their appeal to fair play, and that they are sawing off the very branch they are sitting on. No it’s worse than that.
To ban Christian prayers would be to create a spiritual vacuum. And there is an assertive, self-confident religion increasing numerically in our land which would rush to fill that vacuum.
It’s easy to see how the National Secular Society are stuck in their mid-nineteenth-century time-warp when Christianity was the only faith on offer in these islands, and it was everywhere, informing every aspect of national life, enjoying substantial privileges.
It’s not like that any more. And the only way to prevent Islam, which the secularists really will not like, from gaining hold, is to champion our Christian heritage before it’s too late.
“If the foundation be destroyed”
Far from banning prayers in Parliament, our leaders should be proclaiming the cause of Christ from the rooftops.
Secularists have had their day. But their much-vaunted freer and fairer society has now morphed into one where Christian views and those expressing them are being cancelled.
The word of God says: Prov 25:5 Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.
Let us pray the Lord will take these God-hating secularists out of the corridors of power, and establish the throne with capable, God-fearing, honest men of truth. Sign our petition:
Keith Porteus Wood (left) and Terry Sanderson (in their younger days)
When we look behind the scenes, we see the secularists agitating for every godless idea, every abomination destructive of human society. It was run for years by two homosexuals, Keith Porteous Wood (still in charge) and Terry Sanderson.
The NSS is in favour of a completely atheistic state, including a ban on prayer in every public forum, disestablishment of the church, the eviction of bishops from the House of Lords and an end to our Christian coronation ceremony with a ‘secular’ head of state put in place instead of the monarch.
They want abortion on demand up to birth, abortion ‘buffer zones’, sodomy and gay ‘marriage’, no-fault divorce on demand, sex education unrestrained by any parental involvement, no faith schools at all, creation never contemplated as a possible explanation for life on earth, a ban on home education, and legalised suicide and euthanasia.
Churches would have their charitable status revoked, but of course any organisation promoting what the Lord hates would remain charitable. They fail to acknowledge that secularism, denying that any deity exists, is a ‘religious’ point of view. They have a founding myth for life on earth; they call it ‘evolution’.

For too long, Christians in the UK have found themselves silenced, punished, and ostracised for standing by their beliefs. Last week, the Court of Appeal handed down a ruling that corrects years of injustice—a decisive victory for free speech and religious liberty.
Kristie Higgs, a devoted Christian and former school administrator, was dismissed from her job for daring to voice concerns about gender ideology and same-sex marriage on her personal Facebook page.
The court’s decision affirms that dismissing an employee for simply expressing a religious belief is unlawful under the Equality Act 2010.
Ms. Higgs’ case is not an isolated one. Over the past decade, we have seen case after case where Christians have been targeted for their beliefs. Felix Ngole, a social-work student, was expelled from his course for expressing opposition to same-sex relationships on social media. Richard Page, an NHS director, was removed from his position for defending family structure. These cases have left many believers uncertain about their standing in a society that claims to uphold free speech.
While ‘progressives’ preach about tolerance, they have weaponised institutions to silence Christians. But the Court of Appeal has now drawn a line in the sand, reaffirming what should have always been clear: freedom of religion and expression are not subject to ideological trends.
The Bible says, John 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
The court has now reminded the world that Christians, too, have a right to speak.
For years, the legal system has sent mixed signals on religious expression. While Mr. Ngole was ultimately vindicated, Page was not. Such inconsistencies left Christians in a precarious position—unsure if their faith-based opinions might cost them their livelihoods.
Employers, emboldened by an anti-Christian bias, felt free to punish employees for their beliefs, confident that the courts would back them up.
This ruling, however, has set a powerful precedent that cannot be ignored. Employers can no longer justify discrimination against Christian employees who express their views outside of work.
This ruling is not just about one woman’s right to speak; it is about the broader battle against the ideological tyranny that has gripped Western institutions.
If a Christian can be fired for quoting Scripture, then the so-called ‘tolerance’ movement is nothing more than a mask for authoritarianism. The Court of Appeal’s decision is a crucial push-back against this overreach.
The erosion of free speech has never been more evident than in the past decade. We have seen academics, medical professionals, and even comedians lose their positions for failing to conform to radical ideologies.
This ruling signals that the power of truth cannot be drowned out by the noise of cultural coercion.
A win for all, not just Christians
Some may see this as a ‘Christian victory,’ but it is more than that—it is a victory for everyone who values free expression. Today, it is Christians who are under attack; tomorrow, it could be anyone who dares to voice an unpopular opinion.
This ruling upholds the principle that in a free society, beliefs—religious or otherwise—should not be policed by employers.
This case should serve as a wake-up call to the silent majority who have watched in fear as cancel culture and ideological purges take over workplaces.
Ms. Higgs’ victory is a clarion call for Christians to stand firm, unafraid, and unwavering in their convictions. The tide is turning, and this judgement has marked a pivotal moment in the fight for true freedom in Britain.

US Vice-President J D Vance tells Europe's self-satisfied elite some home truths.
Script of video:
On Saturday 15th February, 2025, US Vice-President, J D Vance, gave a twenty-minute speech to assembled European dignitaries at the Munich Security Conference.
Of course the conference was already ablaze with outrage that President Donald Trump had called Russia’s President Putin and started negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine.
Euro-leaders shut down dissent
US Vice-President J D Vance tells Europe’s self-satisfied elite some home truths.
But J D Vance did not concentrate on that. He hardly mentioned it. His focus was to denounce his audience for shutting down domestic dissent, and to ask them what values they were defending.
For the BBC’s Security Correspondent Frank Gardner it was ‘a blistering attack decrying misinformation, disinformation, and the rights of free speech.’ He meant ‘upholding the rights of free speech’. I think Frank had lost his composure a bit.
He described the JDV speech as ‘a very weird 20 minutes – one met largely with silence from delegates in the hall.’ Indeed it was. Not just did the ‘speech go down very badly – unequivocally badly’, But ‘It was extraordinarily poorly judged,’ according to the affronted man from the BBC.
However, for Brendan O’Neill for Spiked Online, it ‘was a joy to watch’, ‘a delicious spectacle’, seeing ‘A Yank from dirt-poor origins sticking it to Europe’s turbo-smug ruling class’.
I’ve taken out some things you might find informative, even scriptural, from it. Well, it’s no secret that the new US administration ‘does God’, just as Tony Blair’s, according to his spin doctor Alistair Campbell, did not.
Nor, for that matter, do our present crop of UK politicians, even, I must venture, a great many who profess Christ. By ‘Do God’ I mean acknowledge that Jesus, the King of kings, is sovereign in the national affairs of men. Above all, to see faith in the Lord of life as more than a mere personal matter.
This may be a longer video than we normally post, but we’ll be going behind the scenes and drawing encouragement for those who pray and for those who recognise that there is indeed a spiritual dimension to our life here on earth. Sign our ‘Doing God’ petition:
It did not take long for the Vice-President to remind, in his own words: ‘all of us who have been fortunate enough to be given political power by our respective peoples, to use it wisely—to improve their lives.’
That is scriptural. Remember from the book of Romans, where the Apostle Paul is discussing the civil ruler? He writes: Rom 13:4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good.
Rulers, according to the Bible, are not there to impoverish their people, as the climate fanatics seem to think, but to create an environment in which we can prosper.
Threat from within
EU Leaders need to repent.
Bearing in mind this was a security conference, Mr Vance went on:
‘the threat that I worry most about for Europe is not Russia. It’s not China. It’s not any other external actor. What I worry about is the threat from within—the retreat of Europe from some of its most fundamental values, values that are shared with the United States of America.
‘I was struck that a former European commissioner went on television recently and sounded delighted that the Romanian government had just annulled an entire election. He warned that if things don’t go to plan, the very same thing could happen in Germany too.’
It was the Romanian constitutional court, as it happens, but Mr Vance regards the courts, correctly, you might say, as an arm of government.
Defence of Democracy
Mr Vance went on to point out that today: ‘Everything—from our Ukraine policy to digital censorship—is billed as a defence of democracy.’
Well even in the US, some claimed to be ‘defending democracy’ by trying to use the courts to stop Donald Trump from contesting the presidential elections.
And when the European elites use anti-democratic means to prevent the wrong people from participating in the democratic system, that too is ‘defending democracy’.
Because ‘Defending Democracy’ actually means, ‘Keeping us in power’.
The V-P reminded those present about the Cold War: ‘Consider the side in that fight that censored dissidents, closed churches, and canceled elections. Were they the good guys? Certainly not.’
’Shut down Social Media’
He went on to draw uncomfortable parallels between the old Soviet Union and today’s European leaders: ‘I look to Brussels, where EU commissars warn citizens that they intend to shut down social media during times of civil unrest, the moment they spot what they’ve judged to be “hateful content.”
‘Or to this very country (Germany), where police have carried out raids against citizens suspected of posting anti-feminist comments online, as part of “Combating Misogyny on the Internet: A Day of Action.”
‘I look to Sweden, where two weeks ago, the government convicted a Christian activist for participating in Quran burnings that resulted in his friend’s murder.’
The penalty imposed on Salwan Najem was a fine. His friend, Salwan Momika, was murdered by Muslim vigilantes just weeks previously. Either way, in Sweden, burning the Koran means consequences. Swedish judges have imposed an Islamic blasphemy law.
’Tolerant Country’
Stephen Green was convicted for standing outside Marie Stopes abortion facility in Ealing on 6th February 2023 .
As they have done in the United Kingdom, where one Martin Frost has now been convicted after a similar activity in Manchester.
‘This is a tolerant country, but we just do not tolerate this behaviour,’ said Judge Margaret McCormack in that case, apparently with a straight face.
And indeed, it was to the UK where J D Vance next turned his attention: ‘And perhaps most concerningly, I look to our very dear friends, the United Kingdom, where the backslide away from conscience rights has placed the basic liberties of religious Britain in the crosshairs. A little over two years ago, the British government charged Adam Smith-Connor, a 51-year-old physiotherapist and army veteran, with the heinous crime of standing 50 meters from an abortion clinic and silently praying for three minutes.
‘Not obstructing anyone. Not interacting with anyone. Just silently praying on his own. … Adam was found guilty of breaking the government’s new “buffer zone” law, which criminalizes silent prayer and other actions that could influence a person’s decision within 200 meters of an abortion facility.’
I too have been convicted of a buffer zone offence, for standing outside an abortion facility displaying a Bible verse. Neither obstructing nor interacting with anyone, just like Adam. And just like him, I have been, as J D Vance put it: ‘… sentenced to pay thousands of pounds in legal costs to the prosecution.’
Mr Vance went on: ‘To many of us on the other side of the Atlantic, it looks more and more like old, entrenched interests hiding behind ugly, Soviet-era words like misinformation and disinformation, who simply don’t like the idea that somebody with an alternative viewpoint might express a different opinion, or, God forbid, vote a different way—or even worse, win an election.’
He went on to ask what is their vision: ‘I’ve heard a lot about what you need to defend yourselves from, and of course, that’s important. ‘But what has seemed a little bit less clear to me, and certainly, I think, to many of the citizens of Europe, is what exactly it is that you’re defending yourselves for. What is the positive vision that animates this shared security compact that we all believe is so important?’
Keep themselves in power
It’s a good question. And I think the answer is their vision lies in keeping themselves in office, whilst advancing today’s secularist sacred cows, things which stupidly attack the Christian faith upon which their entire civilisation is built, ideas like sodomy, abortion, depravity, divorce and family breakdown, multiculturalism.
I think the new US administration even sees the European elite’s climate fanaticism as an example of what amounts to a cultural death wish. Sign our Petition:
As for multiculturalism being part of their death wish, how else, except from a spiritual perspective, do you explain their policy of opening the doors to Muslims, whose religion has supplanting the Christian foundation of their target societies with Islamism as an article of faith?
’nothing more urgent than mass migration’
Wreath laid after terror attack in France
The Vice-President certainly sees it like that: ‘I believe there is nothing more urgent than mass migration. Today, almost one in five people living in this country moved here from abroad. … The number of immigrants who entered the EU from non-EU countries doubled between 2021 and 2022 alone. And, of course, it’s gotten much higher since. And we know—the situation didn’t materialize in a vacuum.
‘It’s the result of a series of conscious decisions made by politicians all over the continent, and others across the world, over the span of a decade. We saw the horrors wrought by these decisions yesterday, in this very city. And, of course, I can’t bring it up again without thinking about the terrible victims—who had a beautiful winter day in Munich ruined.’
‘An asylum seeker, often a young man in his mid-20s, already known to police, rams a car into a crowd and shatters a community.’
As Vice-President Vance was speaking, a 23-year-old Syrian asylum seeker murdered a 14-year-old boy and wounded five others in an Islamist knife attack in Austria.
What did we vote for?
‘No voter on this continent went to the ballot box to open the floodgates to millions of unvetted immigrants.’
‘But you know what they did vote for? In England, they voted for Brexit. And, agree or disagree, they voted for it. And more and more, all over Europe, they’re voting for political leaders who promise to put an end to out-of-control migration. …
‘I just think that people care about their homes. They care about their dreams. They care about their safety and their capacity to provide for themselves and their children.’
Going further, he took aim at the elitist World Economic Forum, where King Charles has hob-nobbed with Klaus Schwab, Prince William launched his Earthshot Prize, where Justin Trudeau, Jacinda Ardern and the current secretary general of NATO, former Dutch prime minister Mark Rutte, emerged from the Young Global Leaders programme, and where ordinary people are envisaged as owning nothing and being happy:
‘Contrary to what you might hear a couple mountains over in Davos, the citizens of all of our nations don’t generally think of themselves as educated animals or as interchangeable cogs of a global economy.’
’Sacred Principle’
Moses. brings the Ten Commandments for the people to ratify
It might have come as a shock to those assembled, and to some of our judges, but the US Vice-President regards the thoughts and concerns of ordinary people as valid and worthy of consideration. ‘Democracy rests on the sacred principle that the voice of the people matters. There’s no room for firewalls. You either uphold the principle, or you don’t. Europeans—the people—have a voice.’
The ‘firewalls’ refers to the German elite ostracising the elected members of the AfD, of course. But does democracy rest on a ‘sacred principle’? I think it does. The people have to give their assent to those who rule.
When Moses brought the words of the Covenant given by the Almighty down from Mount Sinai, we read it was essential that it was ratified by the people. Three times in the book of Exodus, in chapter nineteen and twice in chapter twenty-four, we read of the democratic assent of the people, culminating in this:
Exod 24:7 And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient.
Fear not
J D Vance finished by quoting the late Pope John Paul II, a prominent supporter of democracy in his native Poland, who once said: ‘“Do not be afraid.”
‘We shouldn’t be afraid of our people, even when they express views that disagree with their leadership.’
It was the Lord Jesus who said ‘Fear not’ first, many times, but it is a constant theme in scripture and it depends on faith and love of God: 1John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear:
But actually, the arrogant European elites do have reason to fear their people. They know that the people have had enough of them. They are afraid of losing their positions in elections.
There is one higher than they
They will most likely ignore the witness of Mr Vance, and carry on just the same. Yet scripture says, in Ecclesiastes:
Eccl 5:8 If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.
Do not be afraid of them, because we have sure promises from the Lord on high. Here is his attitude towards those who deny the rule of King Jesus, from Psalm two and verse four: Psalm 2:4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
How do we know that the arrogant will fall? From, for example, Psalm seventy-six: Psalm 76:12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.
From Mary’s Magnificat in Luke chapter one: Luke 1:51 He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
Luke 1:52 He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.
Which itself is based solidly on the whole witness of scripture, for example, here in psalm one hundred and forty-seven: Psalm 147:6 The LORD lifteth up the meek: he casteth the wicked down to the ground.
’Turbo-smug ruling class’
And that is why the speech of the humble boy from ‘dirt-poor origins’ went down so ‘unequivocally badly’ with ‘Europe’s turbo-smug ruling class’.

The Church of Scotland is parting with centuries of history, selling off places of worship for what is described as a drastic ‘decline in both worshippers and ministers.’
Churches, plots of land and former council houses, some dating back to the 1700s, have been listed for sale at prices ranging from £35,000 in what the Church say is a ‘painful’ move.
The institution said financial pressures forced it to make ‘difficult’ decisions on its future, adding it now owns ‘far more [churches] than is required’.
A Church of Scotland spokesman said: ‘We understand fully the wide range of emotions – anger, guilt, sorrow and relief that the burden of trying to keep a place of worship open with few people and little, if any contribution from other community sources, has finally been lifted.
‘The Church owns thousands of properties, far more than required to achieve our primary mission of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.
‘It is going through a transformation and it is essential that the Church is properly equipped to be fit for purpose in the 21st century. Although buildings are cherished, they must not hinder progress.’
Progress or decline?
The BBC reports on the Kirk’s decline: ‘According to 2021 numbers, the church has 283,600 members – down from a peak of 1.3 million in the late 1950s.
About 60,000 worship in person on a Sunday – down from 88,000 pre-Covid. About 45,000 people now worship online and 8,275 in “other ways”.
Each church averages just one wedding and one baptism per year – about 1,200 in total. There were 50,000 per year in the late 1950s.
There were 430 professions of faith in 2021 (sometimes referred to as confirmation) compared with 40,000 at the peak of new members in the 1930s. The average age of those attending church is 62.
An Imam from Florida, Muhammad Musri, has spoken gleefully of a decline in Christian worship and announced a Muslim campaign to buy churches and convert them into mosques. ‘(We) turn their churches into mosques, and their schools into Islamic schools, and bring the light of Islam to here,’ he said in a recent video on Memri TV. That could easily become the fate of some of the churches for sale in Scotland.
‘Buffer zones’ to stifle free speech
The author preaching outside British Pregnancy Advisory Services (BPAS) abortion facility in Twickenham on 7th February 2023
At the same time, MSPs in the Scottish Parliament have passed the most extreme censorship zones near abortion clinics in what pro-life campaigners say is to stifle free speech.
The legislation would prevent any protests or vigils taking place within 200m (656ft) of 30 clinics offering abortion services.
The Abortion Services (Safe Access Zones) (Scotland) Bill, tabled by Scottish Green MSP Gillian Mackay, passed by 123 votes to one. Voting record HERE.
Voting for the Bill and for the commercial enterprises making money from death were 61 SNP MSP’s, 28 Conservatives (3 did not vote at all: Jeremy Balfour, Murdo Fraser and Stephen Kerr), all 22 Labour, all 7 Greens, all 4 Liberal Democrats and the Alba Party’s Ash Regan. Only John Mason (SNP) voted against.
It appears the few pro-life MSPs said the bill could infringe on freedom of expression, religion and assembly. They wanted exclusions for silent prayer. The Bill’s sponsor acknowledged the concerns, only to dismiss them.
The Bible says, Prov 25:5 Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.
Access to healthcare or murder?
In her speech, Gillian Mackay came out with all the usual pro-abortion spin. She said everyone ‘should be able to access healthcare with dignity and free of harassment’.
She said: ‘For far too long women and health care staff have been forced to run a gauntlet of intimidation, judgment and fear in order to access or deliver treatment at what can often be the most emotional of times.
No MSP asked, if this is mere ‘healthcare’, why is it so ‘emotional’? What other healthcare leaves women feeling emotional and filled with remorse?
She said: ‘No protester and no group should be allowed to tell women what they are or are not allowed to do with their body. This should be their choice, their privacy, and their decision.’
No MSP asked: ‘Since when was a baby growing in the womb part of that woman’s body?’ Crucially, not one MSP asked Gillian Mackay: ‘What species were you when you were growing in your mother’s womb?’
The psalmist says that was ‘Me’ in there, not part of his mother: Psalm 139:13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.
‘Peaceful pro-life people’ become criminals
A spokeswoman for Care for Scotland said: ‘The police are already empowered to deal with any incidents of abuse or harassment that occur under existing, well-balanced laws.
‘Police data shows that pro-life activities do not involve the ‘harassment’ some campaigners claim is taking place. Some have wrongly sought to other and problematise peaceful pro-life people who offer support to women.
The United Kingdom now ranks among the least religious nations in the world.
Brits are now among the least likely internationally to believe in God, following a long-term decline in belief since the 1980s, according to a new study.
The research, led by the Policy Institute at King’s College London, also finds that the share of the population who say God is not important in their life is at a record high, having doubled compared with four decades ago.
Belief in heaven has decreased over the same period, but belief in life after death and hell has remained stable, with younger generations more inclined to believe in both – despite being less religious generally.
The Bible says, Matthew 24:10-12 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many…And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
The British built the first church in Nigeria and built another right on top of the slave market in Zanzibar. We spread Christianity across our former colonies. Now we are abandoning the faith and advancing the causes of abortion and sodomy at home and abroad instead. Our love of truth and righteousness, indeed of the Gospel itself, has grown cold. How far we have fallen.

Daniel Owen, Head teacher at Llanidloes High School
Daniel Owen, Head teacher at Llanidloes High School
A school in Wales is being criticised and investigated for promoting evangelical Christianity to its pupils.
The National Secular Society (NSS) has expressed discomfort over Daniel Owen, the headteacher at Llanidloes High School in Powys, for using school resources to teach children the way of the Lord.
Mr. Owen is accused of directing pupils to the evangelistic ‘Alpha’ Christian course.
‘Promoting Creationism’
Llanidloes School Poster
The BBC reports that the school is also ‘promoting creationism’ with wall displays showing marine life and the solar system beneath lines from the Bible such as:
Psa 111:2 The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.
Teaching creationism as a scientific theory is banned in England, but not prohibited in schools in Wales. The NSS is calling for a ban on teaching creationism in schools in Wales, claiming ‘it undermines teaching about evidence-based theories such as evolution’, as if the theory of creation had no evidence to support it, or that ‘evolution’ was watertight.
Secularists worried by Bible
Photographs of school planners given to pupils reveal an advice page titled “Help in Time of Need,” featuring sections on suicide, sex, and abuse.
The NSS are worried the page contains references Bible verses, including guidance for children to “flee from sexual immorality,” avoid “the evil desires of youth,” and cautioning that looking at women “lustfully” equates to having “committed adultery” in their heart.
The Bible says, 2 Timothy 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
The criticism of the headteacher at Llanidloes High School raises the question: Why is it permissible to teach gender ideologies in schools but not Christian values?
Across the UK, schools have made gender ideologies the order of the day under the ‘Comprehensive Sex Education scheme’.
Children are being exposed to age-inappropriate content and taught questionable values, yet the teaching of Christian virtue is being criticised.
That is far from being ‘inclusive’ or ‘representative of diverse perspectives’. It favours a godless secularist ideology, which is, lest we forget, a pseudo-religious viewpoint.
The Bible says, Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Children have increasingly become the focal point of gender ideologies in education. This shift is evident in practices ranging from teachers discussing the existence of more than two genders to encouraging children to explore ‘diverse identities’. Currently, in the UK’s general election campaigning, it is unclear whether the Labour Party will, if it forms the next government, carry through with the Conservatives’ proposed ban on gender ideology. It’s education spokeswoman, Bridget Phillipson, said the guidance would be reviewed.
Additionally, the emergence of ‘drag queen story hour’ has sparked debate among parents and educators. One commentator asked: Why are children always at the centre of this agenda? Why do ‘drag queens’ never want to read stories to the elderly?
Meanwhile, many parents are reported to have lost confidence in their children’s schools. A growing number of parents are choosing homeschooling as a way to regain oversight of what their children are taught. However, Labour appear to want a register of home-schooled children, the first step to interfering in what they are taught.
Homeschooling in the UK has seen a notable increase in recent years, according to a Savanta poll for CARE.
Many parents are citing concerns over the school curriculum as a primary reason for this choice, particularly concerning topics around gender and sexuality. The Savanta poll also suggests 4 in 10 parents have not been consulted on the content of lessons, despite this being a legal requirement.
Key findings of the poll
The Savanta Poll revealed that 41% of parents reported their schools use third-party organizations to deliver part of their RSE curriculum, affecting approximately 3.5 million children out of 8 million students in England.
Additionally, 44% of parents who requested to view the RSE materials taught to their children had their requests denied. Concerns about the RSE content are prevalent, with 46% of parents expressing some form of apprehension about what their children are being taught.
Furthermore, 52% of parents are unsure if their child would feel free from judegment when expressing views in RSE classes that differ from what is being taught. Despite statutory requirements, 36% of parents reported never being consulted on the content of their child’s RSE curriculum, with an additional 4% unsure if they had been consulted.
A BBC investigation also found the number of children moving to home education in the UK is at its highest level since the pandemic.
Councils received almost 50,000 notifications in the last academic year from families wanting to take their children out of school. This does not include children already being home educated.
In Scotland, there has been a significant rise in the number of parents choosing to homeschool their children due to concerns about falling educational standards and increasing classroom violence.
Data from Scottish councils indicates that over 2,200 children are now receiving education at home, representing a 40% increase in the last two years. This figure has more than doubled over the past seven years.
While homeschooling has become more common throughout the UK since the pandemic, critics suggest that the more pronounced rise in Scotland reflects a growing dissatisfaction with the state education system.
The new figures, from 30 of Scotland’s 32 councils, show that the number of pupils being homeschooled stood at 2,222 in the current academic year, up from 1,880 in 2022-23 and 1,591 in 2021-22.
‘It is of course the right of any family to choose to homeschool their child,” said Liam Kerr, the education spokesman for the Scottish Tories.’ But the rise in numbers here hardly reflects well on the SNP’s running of our schooling system.
‘We know in recent years that violence has increased, that standards have fallen, and that teaching career prospects are increasingly bleak.’
Parents’ concerns about losing influence over their children’s upbringing due to ‘LGBT’ ideologies in schools are also contributing to the homeschooling trend. For instance, a study by Policy Exchange found that a majority of parents are uncomfortable with the extent of gender ideology being taught in schools, fearing it undermines their values and parental authority.
Moreover, cases where schools have introduced controversial content without consulting parents have further fuelled these concerns. Many parents have voiced concerns about age-inappropriate content which they say infringes on their right to guide their children’s moral and ethical development.

A church minister, a university professor and the Scottish National Party are all supporting Scottish schools in recruiting children to promote homosexuality and transgenderism, Christian Voice can reveal.
Amidst growing concerns, it has come to light that children as young as four are being ‘being recruited to act as ‘LGBT Champions’ and prompted to ask about being ‘gay, lesbian, or transgender’ within educational settings.
Documents seen by the Telegraph show that schools are starting clubs and ‘gender and sexual orientation alliance groups’ for pupils as part of their membership scheme run by the LGBT Youth Scotland. And they are paying the group for their advice on how to corrupt children.
The campaign group also urges head teachers to install gender neutral lavatories and mark Transgender Day of Remembrance, an event critics say is designed to reinforce myths spread by trans activists. See our video:
Canon Fostekew’s involvement in promoting LGBT schemes within primary schools raises concerns as to the quality of teachings his followers would have.
The Bible says: Tim 2:3,5 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come…Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God…Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
1 Peter 2:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
A taxpayer-funded pro-sodomy and pro-trans group, LGBT Youth Scotland has devised a 4-year strategy to indoctrinate young people in Scottish Schools.
Their strategy includes; ‘changing lives through youth work, Influencing change through young people’s voices, improving young people’s lives through partnership, and improving young people’s lives through creating inclusive environments’.
Convener of the Board Dr Mhairi Crawford, Chief Executive, and fellow trustee Lewis Shand Smith said: ‘We are excited about the future of this charity with the goal of ensuring we are there for any young person that needs us, in a way that works for them, while working with young people to progress LGBTQ+ rights and opportunities both locally and nationally across Scotland.’
Special needs school going ‘trans-affirming’
Pupils and Staff at Kaimes School (from Twitter @KaimesPE)
In the latest exposure of the activities of LGBT Youth Scotland, it has emerged that a school for severely autistic children has signed up to LGBT Youth Scotland’s transgender ideology.
Kaimes School in Edinburgh, which takes children from age five, stands accused of ‘breathtaking’ recklessness over teaching ‘pseudoscientific’ concepts of biological sex and gender to vulnerable pupils.
The Daily Telegraph reports there is a strong, but as yet poorly understood, link between autism and young people reporting gender identity issues. Studies suggest ‘transgender and gender-diverse individuals’ are up to six times more likely to be autistic. This was reported in the Cass Review, which called for a halt on the ‘affirmation’ approach.
Documents show that Kaimes School has overhauled its curriculum to become ‘trans inclusive’ in a bid to win LGBT Youth Scotland ‘charter status’ from the activist charity, which is still in denial of the Cass Report.
Professor Ian Rivers, School of Education
‘Education for social change’?
In an online video, Dr. Ian Rivers, a ‘gay’ activist and trustee of LGBTQ Youth Scotland, boldly declares his commitment to incorporating ‘LGBT’ content into school teaching materials.
The professor of ‘education for social change’ at the University of Strathclyde, said: ‘We are incorporating LGBT issues into the curriculum. What this involves is the requirement for all schools to incorporate LGBT content into the curriculum, in terms of history and social experiences of LGBTQ people’.
The Bible says, Psalm 11:3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
Meanwhile, campaigners express increasing worries that the educational system, intended to foster critical thinking skills, has been utilised by the radical left to promote an anti-American agenda.
‘I worked with kids from ages 3 to 13 and saw the brainwashing that exists at all levels of education’, says former teacher and News Producer Douglas Blair.
‘The left uses a combination of propaganda and suppression to push kids into the ensnaring grip of socialism and anti-patriotism.’
Funding
Page 27 of the 2023 Accounts for LGBT Youth Scotland disclose Scottish Government grants from the CYPFEIF and ALEC Fund, the Equalities and Human Rights Fund, the Delivering Equally Safe Fund, the National Voluntary Youth Organisation Support Fund, the ‘Promoting Equality and Cohesion Fund’ and the ‘Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) Fund totalling £447,677.
Other Grants totalling £950,115 came from ‘Scottish Local Authorities’, ‘Trusts and Foundations’ and ‘NHS Organisations’. Altogether, in 2023, LGBT Youth Scotland received £1,397,792 of public money from Scottish taxpayers to corrupt and entrap (some might go so far as to say ‘groom’) young people in Scotland.
Trustees
The trustees of LGBT Youth Scotland are headed by Dr. Mhairi Crawford, a supporter of all things transgender.
Its head of Youth Work, Nicola Booth, previously worked for Childline, part of NSPCC, itself now denounced by a whistle-blower for drinking the Stonewall Kool-Aid.
Meanwhile, trustee Audrey Connolly is best described as a professional lesbian, having worked for Lloyds Bank co-chairing its LGBT Rainbow network.
Trustee Ian Blair says he is a ‘gay man with a husband and two children.’
The Lord Jesus said: Matt 19:4 Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female.
Leftist Bill Maher has criticised the ‘LGBT’ grooming of children.
Although an environmentalist and an atheist with staunchly pro-abortion beliefs, Maher openly acknowledges the moral implications of abortion. He is also beginning to openly question the LGBT agenda.
His first major foray into the issue was in May of 2022, when he aired a segment titled ‘Along for the Pride,’ in which he analysed the huge spike in trans-identifying children and concluded that kids were being groomed.
‘If this spike in trans children is all biological, why is it regional?’ he asked.
Keep in mind that Maher was a devout supporter of ‘same-sex marriage’ and an enthusiastic participant in the sexual revolution. When he notices what’s going on, that means it is very obvious.
On 19th April Bill Maher called out Nickelodeon and Disney for what he described as ‘horrifying record of child abuse’ as revealed in the recent docu-series Quiet on Set.
‘As one of the few people in the public eye who’s gone through life and never had kids, someone has to tell me why am I always having to defend them?’ he asked.
‘I don’t even like kids, but I also think it’s every adult’s job to protect them,’ he added.
On 19 April 2017 the Scottish Government announced the LGBT Inclusive Education Working Group.
The government claims its purpose is to support schools to take a ‘proactive approach to addressing the stereotypes and stigma experienced by pupils who are LGBT’.

A special police constable disrupted a street worshiper and claimed that singing gospel songs “outside of church grounds” was not allowed.
Harmonie London filmed and posted an apparent altercation between herself and Maya Hadzhipetkova, Metropolitan Police special constable – a volunteer role.
Ms London regularly performs worship music on Oxford Street in central London.
Special constable Maya Hadzhipetkova disrupting street worship
In the clip posted to Harmonie’s Instagram page, special officer Maya Hadzhipetkova said: ‘No, miss, you’re not allowed to sing church songs outside of church grounds, by the way’.
Ms London responds: ‘You are, you are, you are, but the officer insists that she cannot sing “outside of church grounds” unless you have been authorised by the Church to do these kind of songs’.
Ms London replies: ‘That’s a load of rubbish, you’re allowed’.
The officer then walks away, while another adds: ‘She’s not saying anything any more, thank you for your time.’
The singer continues: ‘Are you saying that you don’t care about the Human Rights Act?’
As the altercation went on, the officer stuck her tongue out at Harmonie as she filmed.
In recent times, Christians in the UK have encountered persistent harassment while preaching or singing praises to the Lord on the streets.
The incident highlighted above sheds light on the concerning behaviour of the police officer who, instead of protecting lives and properties, chose to mock the gospel by attempting to disrupt a singer’s performance.
This raises concerns about the extent to which Christians may be restricted from practicing their faith in public spaces by police officers with inadequate training in the exercise of basic freedoms.
The Bible says John 15:19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
Met Police apologises
The Metropolitan Police have apologised for special constable Maya Hadzhipetkova’s behaviour.
According to the force, Ms Hadzhipetkova should not have told Harmonie London to ‘stop performing church songs outside church grounds’. So why did she?
Met police said: ‘The officer was mistaken in saying church songs cannot be sung outside of church grounds.
‘We’re sorry for the offence caused and will take the learning forward,’ they added.
However, was this absurd altercation stemming from such a ridiculous starting position the result of inadequate training? Alternatively, did the officer receive full training in human rights and ignore it?
On the face of it, for any individual to tell another in a London street that they are not allowed to sing worship songs outside a church unless they have the permission of said church betrays a stunning ignorance of Christian freedom, or any basic kind of freedom in a normal society anywhere on earth.

A Christian street preacher has received £5,500 in compensation from Police Scotland for being wrongfully arrested in connection to an unfounded homophobic ‘hate crime’ incident.
Angus Cameron, a former pastor at Cumnock Baptist Church, was detained for over an hour in Glasgow while preaching on Buchanan Street in January 2022.
Additionally, he was awarded £9,400 in legal costs, and he chose to donate the entire amount to the Christian Institute, which supported him throughout the case.
Angus Cameron’s situation is the latest in a series of wins for street preachers.
In July 2016, we reported that Michael Overd was arrested in Broadmead Shopping Center in Bristol. He and his fellow preacher, Mike Stockwell, were accused of ‘religious aggravated public order offence’ in February 2017. The pair were convicted in what we described as a biased magistrates court, and were duly acquitted on appeal to the Crown Court.
In 2019, Oluwole Ilesanmi faced a similar incident in London due to complaints about his preaching. He was arrested on accusations of ‘Islamophobia,’ driven four miles in a police car, then released on the side of the road. He received £2,500 from the Metropolitan Police.
Similarly, in 23rd April 2021, CBN News reported that Pastor John Sherwood was arrested while preaching in an open air in Uxbridge, West London. He was accused of a criminal act for preaching what the word of God teaches about marriage. However, a year later, he was acquitted and cleared of all charges.
As much as there have been a number of wins recorded in the last few years, the battle is not over. It still seems it is easier for the police to arrest a preacher when they receive a complaint rather than to explain the principle of freedom of speech to the complainer. Senior police need to take action to stop this absurdity.
Buffer Zone Challenge
Stephen Green outside Uxbridge Magistrates Court
In our own case, Christian Voice National Director, Stephen Green, faced trial in Uxbridge Magistrates Court on Friday 19th January 2024 for displaying a Bible verse outside an abortion facility inside a ‘buffer zone’ in Ealing in London.
Stephen stood with a placard displaying Psalm 139:13, which says, in the King James version presented to King Charles at his coronation in May: Psa 139:13 For thou hast possessed my reins (= kidneys, insides): thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.
It is forbidden, under an Ealing Council ‘Public Spaces Protection Order’, to demonstrate either for or against abortion in the vicinity of the Marie Stopes abortion centre in Mattock Lane, W5. We say our verse is about human development in the womb, and challenge Ealing to say what relevance it has to abortion. In addition, we say there should be nowhere in the United Kingdom where the Bible may not be read in its entirety. Judge Burgess is expected to give her judgment on Thursday 1st February 2024.

In February 2023, buffer zones around abortion clinics were brought in nationally following an amendment to the Public Order Bill. A Government consultation on implementation ends on 22nd January 2024:
On Friday 19th January 2024, a Christian preacher faced trial in Uxbridge Magistrates Court at 10am for displaying a Bible verse outside an abortion facility inside a ‘buffer zone’ in Ealing in London.
There was much discussion of the relevance, if any, of a certain Bible verse to abortion! The trial finished quite late, so Judge Burgess decided to think about it and give her judgment on Thursday 1st February at 2pm.
At a preliminary hearing on Tuesday 17th October 2023, solicitor Robert Smith told the court that Ealing Council’s decision to prosecute Stephen Green infringes his human rights. Mr Smith, defending, told the court: “My client does not accept the charges brought against him. He does not believe his action meets the charges brought.
“In the event that they do, he cites in his defence articles 9, 10 and 11 of the European Convention on Human Rights. Article 9 is freedom of belief, Article 10 is freedom of expression and Article 11 is freedom of assembly.”
But more than that, the commandments of Jesus Christ himself compel Christians to preach the word.
The Christian Voice National Director is being prosecuted by Ealing Council for doing no more than displaying a verse from the Book of Psalms outside MSI Reproductive Choices clinic on 6th Feb 2023.
Stephen Green on 6th February 2023 outside Marie Stopes abortion facility in Mattock Lane, Ealing.
His sign said: “Psalm 139:13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.”
The campaigner, who is being supported by the Christian Legal Centre, is alleged to have broken a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) that prohibits “protesting, namely engaging in an act of approval/disapproval, with respect to issues related to abortion services”
Politicians and campaigners have decried the introduction of buffer zones as deeply draconian measures that criminalise free speech and prevent vulnerable women from accessing alternatives to abortion.
Protest against Buffer Zones
Mr Green accepts he was outside Marie Stopes, but says he was perfectly within his rights to hold up the placard as a protest, not against abortion, but against the buffer zone. In any event, Marie Stopes staff called the police, who categorised the matter as an emergency, but took more than forty minutes to arrive, by which time Mr Green had left.
Almost at once, Ealing Council sent the activist a fixed penalty notice demanding £100. When he refused to pay, in September 2023, they issued the summons.
If found guilty, Mr Green, from Carmarthen in South Wales, could be fined £1,000 and would face six months in prison if he failed to pay.
Oppressive
Andrea Williams of Christian Concern
Andrea Williams, chief executive of the Christian Legal Centre, said: “It is worrying that a man in his 70s holding a sign with a Bible verse on it is now being treated as an ‘emergency’ situation by the police.
“Buffer zones are an oppressive part of the current culture which force consent and silence dissent. The effect of the PSPO is to criminalise any act of disapproval of abortion and to create an area where no discussion or even prayer relating to abortion is permitted.
“There have now been over 10 million abortions in the UK since abortion was legalised in 1967. That is a staggering number. That is almost twice the population of Scotland and more than the entire population of London. Millions of people would be alive today if abortion had not been legalised.
“Instead of lamenting this loss of life, we are industrialising it, making it ever easier to obtain abortion effectively on demand, and now we are criminalising dissent.
“We will stand with Mr Green as he seeks justice in this case.”

A Christian theology lecturer has launched legal action after being sacked and threatened with a Counter-Terrorism referral, by an ‘evangelical Methodist Bible college,’ for a tweet on human sexuality.
Dr Aaron Edwards is suing Cliff College in Derbyshire and is seeking damages for unfair dismissal and compensation under the Equality Act 201
In March 2023, Dr Edwards, 37, was sacked for alleged misconduct by Cliff College in Derbyshire for ‘bringing the college into disrepute‘ on Twitter (now called X).
Meanwhile, earlier this year, the CEO of Twitter/X, Elon Musk, announced that he would support any user treated unfairly by their employer for posting or liking something on the platform.
The Bible says,
2 Timothy 3:11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
In February, Dr Aaron Edwards posted: “Homosexuality is invading the Church. Evangelicals no longer see the severity of this b/c they’re busy apologising for their apparently barbaric homophobia, whether or not it’s true. This *is* a ‘Gospel issue’, by the way. If sin is no longer sin, we no longer need a Saviour.”
Following the tweet, Dr Edwards was not only suspended by Cliff College and threatened with being reported to Prevent during an investigation and subsequent hearing, he was also abused online.
The college has since tried to deny the Counter-Terrorism threat, despite minutes during the disciplinary hearing/investigation revealing the intimidation tactics used by college bosses.
During the disciplinary hearings, Dr Edwards was also interrogated on how he would pray for same-sex attracted students who approach him for prayer.
He believes as a result of the sacking and subsequent controversy that he might not be able to work in UK higher education again.
Dr Edwards will be seeking damages for unfair dismissal, and compensation under the Equality Act 2010. A full employment tribunal hearing is expected in 2024.
Dr Aaron has said that: “Anyone concerned about academic freedom, Christian freedoms and free speech should be deeply concerned by what has happened to me.”
“The reaction to my tweet and the unjust treatment I have experienced by Cliff College and the Methodist Church in Britain completely illustrates the problem my tweet addressed.
“The tweet was not defamatory; it was not an attack on any colleague or individual; it was not abusive; and it was not an extremist religious view. It was addressed to evangelicals as a point of doctrine, and it has been misunderstood by many who wish to cause personal and institutional trouble for those who express that view.
“The impact on me and my family has been very significant. I have lost many friends as a result, and been slandered by people who do not know all of the details but who now see me as an unkind or hateful person.
“At the time of the suspension and dismissal I also suffered severe physical stress, culminating in symptoms of cardiac arrest. This sometimes returns, especially when I reflect on the events again. Re-reading the correspondence from the college and the various comments, is something I still find difficult as it brings it all up again. It feels like everything I worked for at the college (and for the college) over the last 7 years has gone up in smoke.
Methodist and Church of England on sodomy teachings
The Methodist Church in Britain decided in June 2021 to allow same-sex marriages in places of worship, causing a conflict. Traditionally, the church believed in marriage between a man and a woman as it should be and considered gay relationships as wrong.
Now, church leaders and members are caught in a dilemma. Preachers are forced to support same-sex marriage but continue to teach that being gay is sinful. Conservative Christians who disagree with this change find it difficult to express their beliefs without being labeled as ‘homophobic’ or facing consequences. Some have even been reported as risks or referred to the government for having ‘extreme’ views.
The Bible can not be wrong on matters relating to sodomy.
Genesis 18:20 And the Lord said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous.
Signs of the end time
In recent years, societal norms have undergone significant shifts, and institutions, including churches, have grappled with changes that challenge age-old beliefs. One noteworthy development is the increasing acceptance and adoption of same-sex marriages within religious communities, reflecting a broader trend where what was once considered unconventional or even taboo is becoming normalised.
Work places are accepting staff members sign in as whatever gender they choose, children are allowed to even identify as cats, moons, and the society still sees nothing wrong with this?
As these shifts unfold, everyone should be prompted to ponder the significance of these societal transformations and their potential connections about the end times.
The Bible says, 2 Timothy 3:1-5 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come…For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God…Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

A Christian teacher has been stopped indefinitely from teaching in any sixth-form college or children’s home in England for “misgendering” a pupil.
Joshua Sutcliffe, 33, was banned from the teaching profession for addressing a girl as a girl.
Truth is fallen
According to the Telegraph, the Teaching Regulation Authority (TRA) ruled that Mr Sutcliffe had failed to treat a pupil with “dignity and respect”. They also claim he failed to protect the pupil’s well-being because he did not use the “preferred pronouns” of a girl who “identified as a boy”.
Apart from the allegations of “misgendering a pupil”, Mr Sutcliffe was also found in the wrong for expressing views against gay marriage when questioned by a pupil. He was accused of failing to “consider the potential impact” on his pupils, particularly those who may be practising same-sex relationships. We have stated the Biblical position on sodomy many times, not least here:
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
The prophets even condemn societies like ours:
Isaiah 59:14 And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.
Hosea 4:2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.
Given the reasons for this ban, it is safe to report the 33-year-old was stripped of his license because he spoke against sodomy, and used the correct pronouns to address a pupil. The former teacher can apply for the ban to be removed in 2025.
Mr Sutcliffe, a former maths teacher at the Cherwell School, a state secondary in Oxford, admitted to not using the pupil’s preferred pronouns and said he was “devastated” by the ruling, but owes no apology.
He plans to appeal and is being supported by the Christian Legal Centre.
‘I believe affirming children in gender confusion in the classroom is psychologically damaging for them. I refuse to go against my conscience and cause a child harm and refuse to apologise for that,’ he told the Telegraph.
Standards ‘broken’
The panel claimed the teacher fell significantly short of the standard expected of a teacher.
Meanwhile, the teaching guide says: “Teachers make the ‘education’ of their pupils their ‘first concern’, and are accountable for achieving the highest standards in work and conduct.
“Teachers act with ‘honesty and integrity’; have strong subject knowledge, keep their knowledge and skills as teachers up-to-date and are self-critical; forge positive professional relationships; and work with parents in the best interests of their pupils”.
How is it possible in that light that putting education first, and acting with honesty and integrity has become a crime? Read our related stories on the transgenderism scandal:
The ruling comes as schools wait for detailed government guidance for schools on how to respond to transgender pupils. The guidance is due to be published in summer 2023.
A Whitehall source told the Telegraph that the guidance will reflect the interim findings of the Cass review, an NHS-commissioned report by pediatrician Dr Hilary Cass.
She warned that allowing children to “socially transition” to their preferred gender was “not a neutral act” and could have a “significant” impact on their “psychological functioning”.
More Risks
In our previous articles , we made clear the risks of gender alteration, be it male or female.
Although critics claim that gender reassignment procedures can alleviate the distress and psychological pain they say young people with gender dysphoria experience, vaginoplasty surgery carries risks and potential complications on top of the ill-effects of hormonal medicines.
These risks include bleeding, infection, scarring, loss of sensation, complications related to anesthesia, or even death, as with the aforementioned 16-year-old.
Recovery time can also be lengthy, and follow-up care is often required to monitor healing and address any issues that may arise. The Lord Jesus said medicine is for people who are ill:
Matthew 9:12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.
Education NOT indoctrination
Heavers Farm School
In a separate case, a court has ruled against Christian parents who took a London school to court after it prevented pupils, including her 4-year-old son, from opting out of a school ‘gay pride’ event.
Ms Izzy Montague filed a complaint after she was told her son could not opt out of an LGBTQ event staged at Heavers Farm School despite the family’s Christian beliefs.
The parents, Izzy and Shane Montague are to appeal their case after the Central London County Court dismissed their claim against their child’s former school, Heavers Farm, for attempting to force him to participate in an “LGBT-themed Pride Parade”.
Truth is indeed fallen and equity cannot enter when the UK establishment passes such perverse rulings. They can run on for a long time, but in the end, God will not be mocked:
Eccl 5:8 If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.

Rishi Sunak has become the first Hindu Prime Minister of the UK following a series of political twists and turns.
The former chancellor was selected by more than 180 Conservative MPs to succeed Liz Truss as Tory leader. Mr Sunak’s appointment has been described by supporters as nothing short of a miracle.
Nevertheless, there are deep concerns as to what his religion will mean for Britain and the body of Christ. That being said, a widely-circulated photo of the new prime minister making a Hindu prayer in front of a Downing Street door is not all it seems.
’My religion is Hindu’
Rishi Sunak is of Indian descent. He is the first British Prime Minister to be a practising Hindu who bows down before graven images as gods. The Bible says:
Exodus 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. … 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.
When Rishi Sunak became a minister in the Theresa May Cabinet, he took his oath of office on the Bhagavad Gita. At the time he said, ‘I am now a citizen of Britain. But my religion is Hindu. My religious and cultural heritage is Indian. I proudly say that I am a Hindu, and my identity is also a Hindu.’
Having a leader who worships a god aside from the Prince of Peace is a challenge and appears to normalise other gods in our constitutionally Christian nation.
Diwali:’Festival of Lights’
Mr Sunak performing rituals
A video shared widely on social media in the last few weeks of the Prime Minister lighting candles outside a door on Downing Street attracted thousands of comments, all assuming it has just happened.
However, our investigations revealed that the video was taken in October 2020 while he was Chancellor of the Exchequer. We are of course concerned that such rituals will continue under his leadership. He has already held a Diwali reception in N0 10. What spirits or even spiritual altars will he leave behind?
Diwali, or Dipawali, is India’s biggest and most important holiday of the year. The festival gets its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that Indians light outside their homes to symbolise the inner light they claim protects them from spiritual darkness. Over centuries, Diwali has become a national festival which non-Hindus partake in. For instance, in Jainism, Diwali marks the nirvana, or spiritual awakening, of lord mahavira on October 15, 527 B.C. In Sikhism, it honors the day that Guru Hargobind Ji, the Sixth Sikh Guru, was freed from imprisonment. Buddhists in India celebrate Diwali as well. The Bible says:
Joshua 23:7 That ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them.
Britain remains a Christian Country
In AD871, King Alfred the Great established legal codes known as the Doom Book to govern England after his victory over Viking invaders. The Vikings submitted and accepted the peace treaty, which stated that their leader and thirty of their most honourable men would become Christians.
King Alfred codified three prior Saxon codes to which he prefixed the ten commandments of Moses. He incorporated rules of life from the Mosaic code and the Christian code of ethics. During his reign, Alfred was advised by a council of nobles and church leaders. This council was called the Witan.
King Edgar’s Coronation
The King Edgar window in Bath Abbey. Edgar is pictured holding the Sceptre and the Orb under the Cross although this was first used by King Henry VIII at his coronation in 1509. The Orb says the whole earth is subject to the power and empire of Christ our Redeemer
The stage was set for the later coronation of King Edgar by Bishop Dunstan in Bath Abbey in 975AD.
King Edgar made the first Coronation Oath:
‘In the name of the Holy Trinity. I promise three things to the Christian people subject to me:
‘Firstly, that God’s church and all the Christian people of my dominions will be held in true peace
‘Secondly, I forbid robbery and all unlawful deeds by all ranks of men.
‘Thirdly, I promise and command justice and mercy in all judgments, in order that the gracious and merciful lord, who liveth and reigneth, may thereby forgive us all through his everlasting mercy.’
Coronation Oath 1953
Thus it was that 978 years later, on 2nd June 1953, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth made her own oath, responding to Archbishop Fisher, in a communion service full of Christian teaching and symbolism:
Archbishop. ‘Will you to your power cause Law and Justice, in Mercy, to be executed in all your judgements?’ The Queen. ‘I will’.
Archbishop. ‘Will you to the utmost of your power maintain the Laws of God and the true profession of the Gospel? Will you to the utmost of your power maintain in the United Kingdom the Protestant Reformed Religion established by law? Will you maintain and preserve inviolably the settlement of the Church of England, and the doctrine, worship, discipline, and government thereof, as by law established in England?’ The Queen. ‘All this I promise to do.’
Only then was the Queen anointed and crowned as monarch.
United Kingdom is constitutionally Christian
Britain’s laws are based on Judeo-Christian thinking. The Church of England is the established Church, and our history, heritage, and arts are all profoundly influenced by Christianity.
Christianity and the UK are inseparable. Our Head of State and monarch of the British empire is represented as ‘Charles the Third, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of His other Realms and Territories. King, Head of the Commonwealth, ‘Defender of the Faith.’
By way of convention and practice, the Prime Minister is sworn in to govern based on the laws and Christian doctrines that established the United Kingdom. How will these doctrines be understood, let alone upheld, by Rishi Sunak, who is Hindu?
‘A very bad Christian’
To be fair, Mr Sunak’s immediate predecessor Liz Truss was not a professing, let alone confessing Christian. The best she could do was: “I share the values of the Christian faith and the Church of England.”
As for Boris Johnson, he told The Times journalist, Tom McTague, that he counted himself “a kind of very, very bad Christian”. Christianity “makes a lot of sense” and “is a superb ethical system”, he continued. Furthermore, in his Easter message last year, Boris declared: ‘Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life, not just today but every day. His teaching and the message of his death and resurrection permeates through every aspect of daily life.’
That is more than Mr Sunak would say. Nevertheless, although Mr Johnson understood the EU’s paganism, and why the UK should be free of it, his Covid policies of lockdowns and restrictions, let alone his Net Zero fanaticism, strayed far from the ways of the Lord.
Hindu beliefs
Hinduism dates back four thousand years. The name ‘Hindu’ comes from the word Indus. It is made up of different religious practices and originated near the Indus River in India. Most of the world’s Hindu worshipers live today in India where Mr Sunak’s family heritage is from.
Most forms of Hinduism are henotheistic, a term invented by one Max Müller. They worship a single deity, known as Brahman, but still recognise other gods and goddesses. Mr Müller stated that henotheism means ‘monotheism in principle and polytheism in fact’.
The Institute for Human Knowledge says a Hindu can pick a personal deity of choice from 330 Hindu gods. Hindus revere all living creatures and worship animals and things like ‘luck’ and ‘wealth’ (that’s ‘Lakshmi’). Hindus make wooden or plaster images of the gods of various sizes and place them up in their temples and houses. Ganesh, the elephant, and Hanuman, the monkey, are favourites. Around Diwali time ignorant teachers trying to be ‘inclusive’ will set these up in state school classrooms. However, the pantheistic element of Hinduism also sees god in everything and everything in god.
Moreover, followers believe there are multiple paths to reaching the divine. It is complicated by the ‘Karma’ concept of constant rebirth based on conduct in this life. Hindus are on a journey towards understanding the ultimate reality of nothingness. The goal of the Hindu is to be absorbed into the godhead through Nirvana, literally, ‘snuffing out’. Evangelists say: ‘Never offer a Hindu eternal life; that is what he is trying to escape from.’
God broke into creation
Christianity teaches that God is separate from creation. He made it, sustains it, relates to it, and broke into it when he became incarnate in Jesus Christ. Hinduism with its pantheism will never have this. The God with whom Britain identifies is not made with wood or plaster. Neither does our God share his name with other gods:
Isaiah 42:8 I am the Lord: that is my name, and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me, there is no God.
There is but one God and only one God and Saviour: Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear oh Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! Hosea 13:4 Yet I am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.
Furthermore, the only way to reach the Supreme Being, Almighty God, is through the Lord Jesus Christ. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
The United Kingdom now has a leader who does not recognise the God of Abraham. What happens to our faith as a nation? As Christians, our work just began. We must continue to defend and uphold the Christian Faith. Our prayer is that Britain remains united by the name of Jesus Christ in the love of God.
Prayer
The United Kingdom now has a leader who does not recognise the God of Abraham. What happens to our faith as a nation? For us Christians, our work just began.
Pray against every attack on Christianity and the people of God. Pray against principalities and powers in higher places. Pray that the coronation on 6th May 2023 upholds the full heritage of the UK’s Christian Faith. Pray for our leaders, especially that the Lord Jesus convicts Rishi Sunak to repent of Hinduism and find the true faith. Pray that the Holy Spirit convicts Rishi Sunak of his need for a Saviour, Jesus Christ, God incarnate. What better time for that conviction to come at that feast of the incarnation we call ‘Christmas’.
