Church Under Siege:China’s Crackdown on the Faithful

Christian pastors in China are being rounded up and jailed in a brutal new wave of repression by Communist authorities.

Over the weekend, police launched late-night raids against “house churches”, underground congregations that refuse to register under Communist Party control.

According to Reuters, dozens of pastors were detained nationwide, including Pastor Jin Mingri, founder of Zion Church in Beijing, one of the country’s largest unregistered congregations.

Pastor Jin, 56, is accused of the “illegal use of information networks”, a charge often used to silence Christian leaders. His daughter, Grace Jin, told AP News that her father suffers from diabetes and is being denied medical treatment and legal access

Church spokesman Sean Long warned that the crackdown marks a “new wave of religious persecution”, noting that police have questioned over 150 believers and detained around 30 pastors, releasing only a few.

Beijing’s War on the ross

President Xi Jinping has pledged to make religion in China “more Chinese”, an ideological campaign that replaces the cross with the Party emblem.

China’s religious regulator recently banned all unauthorised online preaching or “foreign collusion” with overseas churches, effectively criminalising digital fellowship.

Open Doors International notes that while around 44 million Christians belong to state-approved churches, tens of millions more worship underground, risking imprisonment to stay true to Scripture.

Despite censorship, intimidation, and arrest, the underground Church is growing — fuelled not by political approval, but by faith that endures the fire.

Nigeria’s Christmas massacre

Just days ago, Christian Voice reported on the horrific Christmas Day massacre in Plateau State, Nigeria, where over 160 Christians were killed and entire churches razed.

The Vatican News confirmed that at least 140 believers were slain in attacks that began on Christmas Eve and spread across Bokkos and Barkin Ladi districts.

A Christian Advocacy group described the assaults as “a coordinated attempt to wipe out Christian communities,” with survivors recounting how pastors were beheaded and villages burned.

Local advocacy group Church in Chains reported that more than 20 villages were destroyed and thousands displaced.

The global media’s coverage was fleeting. Few outlets beyond Christian agencies treated it as more than a regional skirmish — yet the victims were targeted precisely because they bore the name of Christ.

Proverbs 31:8–9 Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.
Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

The silence of the powerful

While U.S. Senator Marco Rubio condemned the arrests in China, urging the release of detained pastors, the world’s response has been muted.

From Nigeria to China, Sudan to Pakistan, Christian persecution continues to rise, yet international media and Western governments too often turn a blind eye.

Human rights watchdog Freedom House and GOV.UK reports show a consistent pattern — Christian minorities face surveillance, violence, and imprisonment simply for practising their faith.

Where are the front-page headlines? The moral outrage? The world has learned to scroll past the suffering Church — as though the blood of the saints were no longer newsworthy.

Isaiah 59:15 Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.

The Church that cannot be silenced

Yet, despite the violence and repression, the Church of Christ stands unbroken.

In China’s secret basements, in Nigeria’s burnt villages, in North Korea’s labour camps, believers still whisper hymns in the dark. For every pastor imprisoned, another rises. For every church destroyed, another congregation gathers underground.

The world may ignore them, but Heaven does not. The cry of the persecuted reaches the throne of God — and He will not be silent forever.

Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

Christian nurse sues NHS over gender row

Jennifer Melle takes legal action against her NHS Trust over allegations of harassment, discrimination, and breaches of her human rights. The Sun
Jennifer Melle takes legal action against her NHS Trust over allegations of harassment, discrimination, and breaches of her human rights.

A Christian nurse has launched legal action against her NHS Trust, alleging harassment, discrimination, and breaches of her human rights,  according to the Telegraph.

Jennifer Melle from Croydon alleges that she was unfairly targeted and punished for refusing to conform to NHS policies on gender identity, which she says conflict with both biological reality and her religious convictions.

The 40-year-old, faced threats and racial abuse after addressing a convicted paedophile according to biological reality.

Instead of supporting her, Epsom and St Helier University Hospital Trust sided with the offender. The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) now considers her a ‘potential risk’ for not affirming Mr X’s chosen gender identity.

Her case, supported by Christian Legal Centre, argues that the NHS Trust violated the Equality Act 2010 and her rights under human rights law.

Stop Transgenderism Now!

Christian convictions versus NHS policy

On 22 May 2024, Jennifer began her shift under the shadow of the Pride Progress Flag flying above the hospital. Mr X, a convicted paedophile from a men’s prison, was admitted under guard.

His file listed him as male, yet a feminine name appeared on the bedside chart. When Jennifer referred to him as ‘Mr X’ while speaking to a doctor, the patient erupted in rage.

“Do not call me Mr! I am a woman!” he screamed. Despite her calm response, the situation escalated.

The offender, currently in a high-security male prison, was jailed for luring boys into sexual acts while posing as a teenage girl on social media.

Return to the UK’s Christian Constitution →

Abuse, threats, and institutional betrayal

Jennifer attempted to de-escalate tensions while standing firm in her beliefs. She politely stated that her Christian faith prevented her from lying about biological sex.

Mr X responded with racial slurs: “Imagine if I called you n*****!” He lunged at her aggressively before being restrained.

Despite this attack, hospital management showed no concern for Jennifer’s safety. Instead, she was later warned for failing to adhere to “equality and diversity” policies.

Support NCCSS / Christian Voice →

Punished for upholding truth

Following the incident, Jennifer was forced to provide a statement and later summoned to a disciplinary hearing. She was given a final written warning and referred to the NMC.

An investigation report subsequently concluded that: ‘the Code of Conduct outlines that in order to treat people as individuals and to uphold their dignity nurses should avoid making assumptions and should recognise Diversity and individual choice.’

The report cited the NMC Code of Conduct which states that nurses should ‘not express your personal beliefs (including political, religious or moral beliefs) in an inappropriate way. Therefore, although [Jennifer] felt unable to identity Patient X using the preferred pronouns due to her religion, as outlined in the NMC Code of Conduct, it could be perceived that [Jennifer’s] actions could…be seen as a potential breach of the code.’

She was accused of ‘not respecting the patient’s preferred identity’ and told her actions and behaviour had ‘fallen short of the Trust’s value of Respect’.

In the meantime, her shifts have been cut and her name erased from internal systems. The NHS has backed an abusive criminal over a dedicated nurse with an unblemished record.

In Matthew 5:10, Jesus says, Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

State-enforced speech and religious freedom

Miss Melle’s case is part of a growing trend where NHS staff face discipline for rejecting gender ideology.

In 2019, Dr. David Mackereth, a Christian doctor, lost his job at the Department for Work and Pensions for refusing to use pronouns contrary to biological sex.

The tribunal ruled that his belief in Genesis 1:27—”male and female he created them”—was “incompatible with human dignity.” Similar cases expose the erosion of religious liberty in public institutions.

In Scotland, nurse Sandie Peggie faced suspension and disciplinary action after objecting to sharing a female-only changing room with Dr. Beth Upton, a transgender colleague at Victoria Hospital in Fife.

Meanwhile, student midwife at Edinburgh Napier University, Spencer was suspended from her training placement with NHS Fife after discussing her pro-life views in a private Facebook group for trainee midwives. Despite Sara Spencer being cleared of wrongdoing, she continued to face warnings about her social media activity, leading to concerns about potential discrimination in her future career.

Silencing Christian professionals

Jennifer’s ordeal mirrors the case of Maya Forstater, a tax expert who lost her job for stating that “sex is real, immutable and binary.”

Though she later won her tribunal appeal, the ruling did little to protect others. The culture of compelled speech remains deeply embedded in institutions.

The Bible warns of times when truth-tellers will face persecution. Jennifer’s experience is further evidence of that reality.

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears.

Meanwhile, Christian Voice has been vocal in criticising the NHS over alleged discrimination against staff who reject woke ideology, including Jennifer.

Christian faces prosecution over open-air service

A retired pastor from Northern Ireland is facing prosecution for preaching the Gospel in an open-air Sunday service near Coleraine’s Causeway Hospital.

Despite Clive Johnston not mentioning abortion, nor directly engaging with patients or staff, the 76-year-old has been charged under the Abortion Services (Safe Access Zones) Act.

This troubling case raises urgent concerns about the erosion of religious freedom in the UK, where preaching a core Christian message, as enshrined in John 3:16, can now be conflated with unlawful protest.

The Bible says,
Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

The slippery slope of censorship laws

The law used against Mr Johnston was introduced to prevent harassment outside abortion facilities, but his arrest demonstrates how such legislation can be weaponised to silence lawful, peaceful expression.

This mirrors the case of street preacher David McConnell, convicted in 2023 for offending a listener by quoting biblical views on homosexuality.

Though the judge later acknowledged a misinterpretation of the law, his conviction highlights the growing criminalisation of traditional Christian beliefs in public spaces.

Our Lord said:
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Return to the UK’s Christian Constitution →

A lawful gathering branded as protest

Despite standing on the fringes of the so-called buffer zone, separated from the hospital by a dual carriageway, Mr Johnston was charged with seeking to “influence” people accessing abortion services.

Yet, how can a simple act of Christian worship, without reference to abortion, be reasonably considered a protest?

This recalls the case of American evangelist, Tony Miano, who was arrested in Dundee Scotland, for mentioning homosexuality among a list of sexual sins. The former police officer and chaplain with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was later released.

If personal conviction and lawful speech are now interpreted as “influence” or “harm,” the UK risks becoming a society where even silent dissent is punishable.

Freedom of religion in jeopardy

The Christian Voice has rightly questioned whether a law designed to prevent intimidation should be used to criminalise an elderly man playing hymns on a ukulele.

The issue at hand is far broader than one man’s court case; it is about whether the state has the authority to determine where and how faith can be expressed.

In a country where police have arrested individuals for silently praying near abortion clinics — as seen in the case of Isabel Vaughan-Spruce in Birmingham — the trend is clear.

Acts 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

Public space and the double standard of expression

If preaching the love of God is now deemed an act of undue influence, then what of those who promote secular ideologies in public spaces? Activists for gender ideology, environmental groups, and political campaigners regularly use public areas to promote their views without interference.

Why, then, does Christian expression warrant a different standard? In 2019, Felix Ngole was expelled from his university course for expressing a biblical view on marriage.

His subsequent legal victory proved that Christian beliefs are protected, yet cases like Mr Johnston’s suggest authorities have not learned their lesson.

Politicians must clarify their intentions

The architects of the buffer zone law never openly stated that it could be used to ban religious gatherings, yet its application in this case suggests otherwise.

The Christian Voice has urged lawmakers to clarify their stance , but will they? If politicians truly believe in free speech, they must ensure the law is not misused to suppress it.

Otherwise, the UK will continue down a path where dissenting voices, particularly those of Christians, are censored under the guise of “safety.”

Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

The wider implications for Christian freedom

Mr Johnston’s prosecution is a stark warning to all believers. If a pensioner can be hauled before the courts for preaching a message of salvation, what does that mean for other forms of Christian witness?

If the authorities can so easily manipulate laws to suppress religious speech, how long before entire denominations face legal consequences for adhering to biblical doctrine? This is a defining moment for the UK’s religious liberties.

Jeremiah 1:8 Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord.
Christians must stand firm, lest silence be mistaken for consent to the erosion of their freedoms.

Secularists trying to ban prayer in parliament – again

UK Parliament in session
UK Parliament in session

Militant atheists are trying to ban prayers before parliamentary sessions. They have found a Member of Parliament to table what is known as an Early Day Motion, calling for daily prayers to be abolished.

Their last attempt, in 2019, attracted a total of fifteen signatures. This time around, it looks as if nine MPs have signed so far.

Watch our short, pithy video on Rumble:

Form of the Prayers

According to the Parliament website, the Speaker’s Chaplain usually reads the prayers. The form of the main prayer is as follows: ‘Lord, the God of righteousness and truth, grant to our King and his government, to Members of Parliament and all in positions of responsibility, the guidance of your Spirit. May they never lead the nation wrongly through love of power, desire to please, or unworthy ideals,
‘but laying aside all private interests and prejudices keep in mind their responsibility to seek to improve the condition of all mankind; so may your kingdom come and your name be hallowed. Amen.’

(In the video, I mistakenly say ‘the’ instead of ‘his’ government. It’s important to remember the government is responsible to the king, because that puts it under the King of kings.)

The House of Lords prayers follow much of the Church of England’s Order for Morning Prayer, including a quote from Proverbs 8: ‘Almighty God, by whom alone Kings reign, and Princes decree justice; and from whom alone cometh all counsel, wisdom, and understanding;’

It’s powerful stuff, beginning from the premise that almighty God is indeed interested and involved in the national affairs of men. And Christian prayers have had a formal place in Parliament for at least four hundred and fifty years. Sign our petition:

The motion

UK Parliament in session
UK Parliament in session

The secularist motion starts off by demanding: ‘that religious worship should not play any part in the formal business of the House of Commons.’ This is despite the United Kingdom having an explicit Christian constitution, most eloquently expressed, of course, in our monarch’s coronation.

On the 6th of May 2023, King Charles kissed the Holy Bible and was anointed by the Archbishop of Canterbury to rule in the name, and under the authority of, the Lord Jesus Christ, the King of kings.

The motion continues to suggest having prayers means ‘Parliamentary meetings’ are not ‘equally welcoming to all attendees’, despite attendance being entirely voluntary.

Here’s the nub of their argument: ‘Parliamentary prayers are not compatible with a society that respects the principles of freedom of and from religion’.

Did you see what they did there? ‘Freedom … from religion.’ But of course, banning daily prayers would be to impose atheism on the United Kingdom. And that is what the God-haters are really after, to declare there is no spiritual aspect to our national life

Ask us to come and speak at your church →

The NSS claim

‘Analysis by Pew Research Center last year revealed less than 10% of people in the UK pray every day – the lowest percentage out of 102 countries.’

Well, it’s good they give a link, because it allows us to see their claim is false. The UK isn’t the lowest. That’s Japan.

In fact, the UK beats Switzerland, Denmark, the Czech Republic and Estonia as well. But to be fair, we are sat on ten percent along with Sweden, Latvia and Finland, just below France, Belgium and Germany.

Pew Research Centre comment: ‘People in nearly all European countries surveyed are among the least likely to say that religion is very important in their lives.’

Another way of looking at the statistic might be to suggest that the reason the United Kingdom and much of Western Europe is in such a mess is that so few people are praying. But the atheists ought to be very careful what they wish for.

It’s not just that all our freedoms and traditions are based on Christianity, even their appeal to fair play, and that they are sawing off the very branch they are sitting on. No it’s worse than that.

A spiritual vacuum

To ban Christian prayers would be to create a spiritual vacuum. And there is an assertive, self-confident religion increasing numerically in our land which would rush to fill that vacuum.

It’s easy to see how the National Secular Society are stuck in their mid-nineteenth-century time-warp when Christianity was the only faith on offer in these islands, and it was everywhere, informing every aspect of national life, enjoying substantial privileges.

It’s not like that any more. And the only way to prevent Islam, which the secularists really will not like, from gaining hold, is to champion our Christian heritage before it’s too late.

“If the foundation be destroyed”

Far from banning prayers in Parliament, our leaders should be proclaiming the cause of Christ from the rooftops.

Secularists have had their day. But their much-vaunted freer and fairer society has now morphed into one where Christian views and those expressing them are being cancelled.

The word of God says:
Prov 25:5 Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.

Let us pray the Lord will take these God-hating secularists out of the corridors of power, and establish the throne with capable, God-fearing, honest men of truth. Sign our petition:

Secularist nightmare

Keith Porteus Wood (left) and Terry Sanderson
Keith Porteus Wood (left) and Terry Sanderson (in their younger days)

When we look behind the scenes, we see the secularists agitating for every godless idea, every abomination destructive of human society. It was run for years by two homosexuals, Keith Porteous Wood (still in charge) and Terry Sanderson.

The NSS is in favour of a completely atheistic state, including a ban on prayer in every public forum, disestablishment of the church, the eviction of bishops from the House of Lords and an end to our Christian coronation ceremony with a ‘secular’ head of state put in place instead of the monarch.

They want abortion on demand up to birth, abortion ‘buffer zones’, sodomy and gay ‘marriage’, no-fault divorce on demand, sex education unrestrained by any parental involvement, no faith schools at all, creation never contemplated as a possible explanation for life on earth, a ban on home education, and legalised suicide and euthanasia.

Churches would have their charitable status revoked, but of course any organisation promoting what the Lord hates would remain charitable. They fail to acknowledge that secularism, denying that any deity exists, is a ‘religious’ point of view. They have a founding myth for life on earth; they call it ‘evolution’.

Chaplain fired for biblical sermon wins appeal to challenge dismissal

Dr Bernard Randall
Dr Bernard Randall
Dr Bernard Randall
Dr Bernard Randall
A Chaplain who was fired for giving a sermon on Christian marriage and gender  has won an appeal to challenge his dismissal. The Court of Appeal has decided that Rev. Dr. Bernard Randall may challenge what he deemed “an unfair firing” for a teaching  he delivered in his official capacity as a school chaplain. “I am very pleased and thankful for today’s decision and am relieved that Judge Butler’s previous ruling has been acknowledged in court,” said Dr. Randall in a statement following the ruling. “Nevertheless, the continuing long wait for justice is painful and holding back my life. I would not be where I am now if Educate and Celebrate (a pro-sodomy pressure group) had not been invited into Trent College, it is as simple as that,” Dr. Randall said. “As an ordained Church of England minister working as a chaplain in a school with a CofE ethos, it was my duty to encourage debate and help children who were confused by the LGBT+ teaching to know that there are alternative views and beliefs on these contentious issues.” Stop Transgenderism Now!

Safeguarding or persecution?

In 2019, at Trent College, Dr Randall merely responded to students’ genuine concerns about LGBT ideology being forced upon them. His sermon, which encouraged critical thinking, was met with institutional retaliation. The school, eager to appease an aggressive activist agenda, reported him to the government’s terrorist watchdog, as though Christian doctrine were a national security threat. The farce continued when the Church itself, rather than standing by its own teachings, deemed him a “safeguarding risk.” The bishop overseeing his case forced him into a psychological evaluation designed for sex offenders. This is not safeguarding; this is persecution. Return to the UK’s Christian Constitution →

The LGBT agenda That consumed the Church

The CofE’s descent into ideological servitude did not happen overnight. The invitation of Educate and Celebrate, an extremist LGBT group, to indoctrinate children under the guise of inclusion was the catalyst that exposed just how compromised the Church has become. The organisation, which demanded that teachers chant “smash heteronormativity,” was permitted unrestricted access to thousands of schools before collapsing under the weight of its own corruption. Educate and Celebrate’s track record is nothing short of scandalous. One of its patrons, Stephen Ireland, now faces charges of child sex abuse, including rape and conspiracy to kidnap. Peter Tatchell, another associate, in 1997 infamously suggested that children as young as nine could enjoy sexual relationships with adults. Yet, despite these disturbing connections, the Church of England remained silent, complicit in allowing this poison to infiltrate schools.

The real threat to children

The Church of England had the audacity to label Dr Randall a “safeguarding risk,” but the real threat to children was always Educate and Celebrate. The group’s exposure as a haven for predators should have led to a full-scale inquiry, yet those in power continue to deflect attention onto innocent clergymen instead of addressing their own failures. Educate and Celebrate’s perverse ideology was allowed to fester under the Church’s watch. The children who were subjected to its teachings were told to reject biological reality and embrace confusion. Instead of ensuring their safety, the CofE gave an extremist group access to their most vulnerable parishioners. Meanwhile, the man who sounded the alarm was vilified. If there is a safeguarding concern here, it is not the presence of Christian doctrine in schools—it is the infiltration of radical activists who see children as ideological battlegrounds. The Church of England, in its desperation to remain relevant in secular society, has become complicit in this disaster. This is an institution that has lost its moral compass entirely. Support NCCSS / Christian Voice →

A show trial against Christianity

After being cast out from Trent College, Dr Randall sought justice through legal channels, but the rot extended even to the courtroom. His case was presided over by an openly anti-Christian tribunal member, Jed Purkis, who had previously declared that only atheists should hold office and derided Christians as a source of the world’s problems. Yet, this blatant bias was ignored until another case exposed his misconduct. The same tribunal that condemned Dr Randall also presided over the case of a Christian teacher, ‘Hannah,’ who was dismissed for questioning the transition of an eight-year-old child under Stonewall’s guidance. When Purkis’s extreme biases were revealed, the entire panel was forced to recuse itself, acknowledging the appearance of prejudice. Yet, the damage to Dr Randall had already been done. The corruption within the judicial system was finally exposed when the Employment Appeals Tribunal overturned the ruling against Dr Randall, declaring it “unsafe” and ordering a retrial. The fact that a supposedly impartial court had been so deeply compromised should shake every person of faith to their core. Ask us to come and speak at your church →

The show of cowardice

The highest levels of the Church of England did not merely abandon Dr Randall, they actively obstructed justice. Archbishop Justin Welby (before his resignation), rather than addressing the injustice done to a faithful minister, sought to bury the case. When Dr Randall filed a misconduct complaint against the Diocese of Derby for its disgraceful treatment of him, Archbishop Welby blocked it from proceeding. Only when a senior church legal officer intervened did it become clear just how egregious the Church’s behaviour had been. The ruling found that Archbishop Welby had “plainly misunderstood the scope of his powers” and had acted wrongly in preventing the case from moving forward. Even so, the Church has refused to restore Dr Randall’s Permission to officiate, effectively keeping him in ecclesiastical exile.

Will there be justice?

The latest ruling overturning Dr Randall’s conviction is a step in the right direction, but it raises a pressing question: when will true justice be served? His permission to officiate remains revoked. The Church’s internal review drags on with no resolution in sight. Six years after his last sermon, Dr Randall remains in limbo while those who persecuted him continue unscathed. This case is more than just an injustice against one man; it is a warning. The Church of England has aligned itself with forces openly hostile to Christianity, and anyone who resists will be silenced. If a minister can be treated this way for simply preaching scripture, then no faithful Christian is safe. The corruption, cowardice, and betrayal exposed in this saga demand accountability. The question now is whether the Church will ever return to the very principles upon which it was founded, or whether it has become just another arm of the secular state

Court overturns discrimination against Christian employee

Kristie Higgs

For too long, Christians in the UK have found themselves silenced, punished, and ostracised for standing by their beliefs. Last week, the Court of Appeal handed down a ruling that corrects years of injustice—a decisive victory for free speech and religious liberty.

Kristie Higgs, a devoted Christian and former school administrator, was dismissed from her job for daring to voice concerns about gender ideology and same-sex marriage on her personal Facebook page.

The court’s decision affirms that dismissing an employee for simply expressing a religious belief is unlawful under the Equality Act 2010.

Persecution of Christians in modern Britain

Ms. Higgs’ case is not an isolated one. Over the past decade, we have seen case after case where Christians have been targeted for their beliefs. Felix Ngole, a social-work student, was expelled from his course for expressing opposition to same-sex relationships on social media. Richard Page, an NHS director, was removed from his position for defending family structure. These cases have left many believers uncertain about their standing in a society that claims to uphold free speech.

While ‘progressives’ preach about tolerance, they have weaponised institutions to silence Christians. But the Court of Appeal has now drawn a line in the sand, reaffirming what should have always been clear: freedom of religion and expression are not subject to ideological trends.

The Bible says,
John 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
The court has now reminded the world that Christians, too, have a right to speak.

The chilling effect of past inconsistencies

For years, the legal system has sent mixed signals on religious expression. While  Mr. Ngole was ultimately vindicated, Page was not. Such inconsistencies left Christians in a precarious position—unsure if their faith-based opinions might cost them their livelihoods.

Employers, emboldened by an anti-Christian bias, felt free to punish employees for their beliefs, confident that the courts would back them up.

This ruling, however, has set a powerful precedent that cannot be ignored. Employers can no longer justify discrimination against Christian employees who express their views outside of work.

“A mask for authoritarianism”

This ruling is not just about one woman’s right to speak; it is about the broader battle against the ideological tyranny that has gripped Western institutions.

If a Christian can be fired for quoting Scripture, then the so-called ‘tolerance’ movement is nothing more than a mask for authoritarianism. The Court of Appeal’s decision is a crucial push-back against this overreach.

The erosion of free speech has never been more evident than in the past decade. We have seen academics, medical professionals, and even comedians lose their positions for failing to conform to radical ideologies.

This ruling signals that the power of truth cannot be drowned out by the noise of cultural coercion.

A win for all, not just Christians

Some may see this as a ‘Christian victory,’ but it is more than that—it is a victory for everyone who values free expression. Today, it is Christians who are under attack; tomorrow, it could be anyone who dares to voice an unpopular opinion.

This ruling upholds the principle that in a free society, beliefs—religious or otherwise—should not be policed by employers.

This case should serve as a wake-up call to the silent majority who have watched in fear as cancel culture and ideological purges take over workplaces.

Ms. Higgs’ victory is a clarion call for Christians to stand firm, unafraid, and unwavering in their convictions. The tide is turning, and this judgement has marked a pivotal moment in the fight for true freedom in Britain.

Irish teacher jailed for a third time for refusing to ‘call a boy a girl’

Irish schoolteacher Enoch Burke has been sent to prison for the third time following his arrest outside the school that sacked him for refusing to ‘call a boy a girl’.

On 2nd September 2024, Mr Burke was placed inside a Garda vehicle outside Wilson’s Hospital School in Ireland’s Co Westmeath and driven to the Four Courts in Dublin, according to the Irish Independent.

The judge made the decision after Mr. Burke repeatedly refused to give a direct answer when asked if he would continue to ignore an order from Mr. Justice Alexander Owens, which prohibits him from attending the school.

Mr. Justice Quinn stated that he was ‘satisfied’ Mr. Burke was in contempt of court and noted that his presence at the school was ‘disruptive to the staff’s ability to provide orderly education to pupils’. He ordered that Mr. Burke be detained at Mountjoy Prison until he ‘purges his contempt’.

The case will be listed again on 11th October 2024 but the judge said Mr Burke could ‘purge his contempt’ before then.

Following the ruling, Mr Burke told the judge: ‘You will answer to God for imprisoning me for my religious beliefs.’

‘This court is simply denying me my religious beliefs, and my right to my religious beliefs. I am a Christian. I have Christian beliefs. My belief is male and female, God made them male and female.’

During the hearing, Mr. Burke and his family argued that the numerous judges who have handled the case had failed to address a report made by the school’s then-principal, Niamh McShane, which prompted to the schoolteacher’s suspension in August 2022.

Mr Burke said Ms McShane had claimed he was guilty of gross misconduct due to his refusal to call a ‘transitioning student’ by a new name and the pronoun ‘they’. He said the legality of that demand was never considered by the court.

However, last year, Judge Owens found the school was right to suspend Mr Burke over fears of ‘harmful and disruptive conduct’

Persecuted yet firm in truth

In June 2024, an Irish High Court judge ordered the release of Enoch Burke from Mountjoy Prison.

Mr Justice Mark Sanfey directed that Mr Burke be freed from the Dublin prison, where he has been incarcerated since last September for his refusal to stay away from Wilson’s Hospital School in County Westmeath.

The judge said that following a review of the situation, ‘the fact examinations are now completed and the school is on holidays, and thereby directing Mr. Burke’s release.’

‘The court did not require Mr Burke to purge his contempt with an agreement to comply with the terms of an order made against him last year,’ the judge said.

Suspended for opposing ‘trans rights’

In May 2023, the High Court upheld Wilson’s Hospital School’s decision to suspend Enoch Burke in August 2022. The school sought the court’s affirmation that it was justified in placing Mr. Burke on paid leave pending the outcome of a disciplinary process.

Mr. Burke had contested the suspension, arguing that it was unlawful and driven by his opposition to the extension of ‘transgender rights’, which arose after the school directed him to address a former student by a different pronoun.

Additionally, the school had secured a High Court injunction requiring Mr. Burke to stay away from the premises during his suspension.

‘Exploiting imprisonment for personal gains?’

Enoch Burke

In a December 2023 ruling, Judge Brian O’Moore suggested that the “only plausible interpretation” of Mr Burke’s actions was that he was “exploiting his imprisonment for personal gain” and seeking fame; otherwise, he would have “taken the opportunity to end it” by simply complying.

However, this may be the “only plausible interpretation” from the perspective of a judge in the now heavily secularised Ireland, where the notion that a man might be acting out of genuine religious conviction is seen as absurd and unthinkable.

Meanwhile, inmates at Mountjoy Prison reportedly expressed their support for their new inmate, him, saying that he “should not be in here” and encouraging him to “keep [his] head up,” even leaving small gifts like popcorn and biscuits at his cell door.

This has been pointed out to highlight the view that, in Ireland, the moral compass of criminals now seems more aligned with the Almighty than that of judges.

Are Christian teachers the target?

The recent arrest, suspension, and termination of employment of Christian teachers seem increasingly like efforts to force educators to conform to ‘trans’ ideologies.

Joshua Sutcliffe, for example, was banned  from teaching by the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) In July 2024 for stating that ‘a boy cannot be a girl’ and ‘homosexuality is a sin.’ Their ruling was upheld in court by one Justice Pepperall. (See our related story here.)

Also, In July 2023, a Christian councillor, King Lawal was suspended for tweeting that pride is not a virtue but a sin.

Meanwhile, another Christian teacher identified as Glawdys Leger was sacked after refusing to promote extreme ‘LGBT’ ideology, and for expressing her biblical beliefs on human sexuality in response to student questions.

In July 2023, a Christian social worker had a £25,000-a-year job offer revoked after his employer discovered his previous legal victory affirming his freedom of speech. Felix Ngole faced expulsion from a social worker training course at Sheffield University after sharing a Facebook post that referenced Bible passages on the topic of same-sex marriage.

Similarly, in 2019, Dr. Bernard Randall received a 5-year ban from his ministry for preaching traditional Christian views to students at Trent College, a private school in Derbyshire, where he was the chaplain.

He delivered a sermon titled ‘Competing Ideologies,’ where he reassured young people that they were ‘not obliged to accept someone else’s ideology.’ In his speech, grounded in Biblical principles, he encouraged students to be open to diverse viewpoints, whether on religion, Brexit, or ‘LGBT’ issues.  See our story here.

Meanwhile, Irish state or schools could alleviate the situation by declaring God’s truth that a boy cannot be a girl.

Archbishop of Canterbury ‘plainly wrong’ for blacklisting gender-critical chaplain

Reverend Dr Bernard Randall. Cred: Christian Concern

The Archbishop of Canterbury was ‘plainly wrong’ in dismissing concerns about the blacklisting of a gender-critical chaplain, a leading lawyer working for the church has ruled.

The Archbishop reportedly tried to block a serious complaint of misconduct being investigated in relation to the ‘egregious’ blacklisting of Reverend Dr Bernard Randall.

Dr Bernard Randall, 52, received a 5-year ban from his ministry for preaching traditional Christian views to students at Trent College, a private school in Derbyshire, where he was the chaplain. link

He told students during a sermon that they could question teaching on ‘LGBT’ relationships.

Dr. Randall was reported to Prevent, the terrorism watchdog, and was ruled by the Church of England to be a risk to children.

The Bible says,
John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Triggered by the truth?

In 2019, Dr. Randall gave a sermon he titled ‘Competing Ideologies’, during which he reassured young people that they ‘are not obliged to accept someone else’s ideology’.

In his well articulated Bible standard speech, he told students that they were at liberty to listen to other points of view, whether on religion, Brexit or ‘LGBT ’.

Dr. Randall went on to say it was not wrong to think ‘that human beings are indeed male and female’. He also suggested that, according to the Christian church, marriage is between a man and woman and that a dim view is taken of sex outside of wedlock.

His words triggered complaints from pupils, parents and staff members. Some even claimed they were nearly left in tears.

Despite being cleared of wrongdoing over the 2019 sermon, he remains barred from preaching after a decision by the Bishop of Derby, the Right Reverend Libby Lane, the church’s first female bishop.

The Bible says,
Ephesians 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness.

Exonerated yet denied

Following an investigation by the church, Dr. Randall was exonerated for the comments he made during his sermon.

But the Derby diocese’s safeguarding team, under the watch of Bishop Lane, still stopped Dr. Randall from taking any position as a vicar.

In 2021, the diocese refused to grant him a licence to officiate without first going through a risk assessment, effectively banning him from preaching.

The diocese safeguarding team claims that the sermon itself was not the reason for this witch-hunt against Dr. Randall.

Rather, it supposedly raised concerns about how he might ‘support someone who came to him if they were struggling with their sexuality’. But Christian Concern, which took up Dr. Randall’s case, maintains that the Right Reverend Lane blacklisted him as a ‘risk to children’ because of his Christian beliefs.

Identity politics over spiritual?

Senior church leaders are taking the back seat and turning away from their parishioners, prioritising identity politics over spiritual and moral guidance.

This attempt to appeal to younger generations through a focus on progressive ideologies is misguided and out of touch with what most people, particularly the youth, truly seek. Instead of ‘woke’ ideologies, there is a growing desire for genuine unity and moderation within the church.

The Church, despite its increasingly diluted stance, has a unique chance to offer a balanced and unifying voice.

Unfortunately, its current leadership, exemplified by Archbishop  Welby and Right Reverend Lane, seems more concerned with conforming to popular opinions rather than fulfilling their role as spiritual shepherds.

The Bible says
John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Persecuted Christian professionals

In recent times, more Christians have been increasingly persecuted for speaking up against gender indoctrination and sodomy.

In July 2024, a Christian maths teacher, Joshua Sutcliffe was banned from teaching by the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) for stating that ‘a boy cannot be a girl’ and ‘homosexuality is a sin.’

Also, In July 2023, a Christian councillor, King Lawal was suspended for tweeting that pride is not a virtue but a sin.

Christian teacher banned for ‘misgendering’ pupil loses High Court appeal

Joshua Sutcliffe on Facebook

A Christian former maths teacher, who was banned for ‘misgendering’ a pupil, has lost his appeal in the High Court, the Daily Telegraph reports.

Joshua Sutcliffe’s appeal was dismissed on 25th July. He was banned from teaching by the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) for stating that ‘a boy cannot be a girl’ and ‘homosexuality is a sin.’

He also expressed a biblical view to students that same-sex ‘marriage’ was wrong.

The Telegraph report described that as ‘equal marriage’, illustrating the extent to which woke, false, language is now embedded even in so-called ‘conservative’ mainstream media.

Preferred pronouns

A High Court judge, Mr Justice Pepperall, upheld the  TRA decision, ruling that Mr. Sutcliffe should remain indefinitely barred from the profession for refusing to use the preferred pronouns of a pupil. But the very concept of ‘social transitioning’ is highly contested.

He was barred from teaching in 2023 after the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) claimed he breached safeguarding duties by refusing to conform to ‘trans’ ideologies in class.

It is thought to be the first case of its kind to reach appeal stage and be dismissed by the High Court.

Support Christian Voice →

The Judgement

In submissions to the High Court, Mr Sutcliffe’s lawyers argued that the teaching ban was an ‘unjustified interference’ with his rights to freedom of speech and religion.

They also argued the decision to bar him from the profession was ‘unsafe’ and included ‘perverse’ findings, adding that Mr Sutcliffe had a right “not to believe gender identity belief”.

But in a written ruling, Mr Justice Pepperall dismissed his attempt to overturn the ban, concluding that Mr Sutcliffe ‘fails to understand or accept the harm that he caused vulnerable children in his class.’

Mr Justice Pepperall ruled that ‘no matter what a teacher’s religious or philosophical beliefs they must in relation to transgender pupils use compelled speech and “respect and celebrate the pupils’ personal autonomy.’

Living in the days of Lot

He added that ‘just because misgendering a transgender pupil might not be unlawful did not mean it was appropriate conduct for a teacher.’

However, the previous government followed the Cass Review in being highly sceptical that confirming a child’s delusions is harmful at all. In any kind of rational , let alone biblical, view, it is more harmful to encourage a child down the social, medical, surgical ‘trans’ pathway.

When the whole establishment, including learned High Court judges, promote wickedness, in this case, the godless IDEA of trans and homosexual ideology, we really are living in the days of Lot.

The Bible says,
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

‘Every teacher is at risk’

Mr Sutcliffe has warned that ‘every teacher is at risk’ if they share their beliefs in the classroom.

‘I still stand by my Christian convictions that it is harmful and detrimental to affirm gender-confused children,’ he said in a statement following the High Court decision.

He said he had been a ‘marked man’ since he ‘dared to express his Christian beliefs in a school’.

‘The TRA wanted me to capitulate and say that I was wrong. I have been severely punished for refusing to do so. Despite this setback, I will continue to fight for justice and to get my career back,’ he said.

‘In 2017, there was no training and no guidance on these issues for teachers. I was a young teacher building my career in the profession at a time when schools were taking guidance from Stonewall, not the Government or any experts on these issues.

‘With this ruling, every teacher is at risk if they share their beliefs and views in the classroom.

Mr Sutcliffe had sought to challenge a prohibition order handed down by the teaching regulator in May 2023.

Bible truth not allowed in schools

Bible in chains
The court has put the Bible in chains

The ban on Bible truths in schools is making it increasingly challenging for Christian teachers to adhere to their faith while meeting government standards.

This situation forces Christian educators to conform to state-imposed beliefs, despite their personal convictions.

It is ridiculous for teachers to be prohibited from expressing religious views, while they are required to teach transgender ideologies, which may conflict with their personal beliefs.

This creates a significant conflict for Christian educators, who find themselves navigating between their faith and their professional responsibilities.

The Bible says,
Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Welsh school criticised for Christian ethos

Daniel Owen, Head teacher at Llanidloes High School

Daniel Owen, Head teacher at Llanidloes High School

A school in Wales is being criticised and investigated for promoting evangelical Christianity to its pupils.

The National Secular Society (NSS) has expressed discomfort over Daniel Owen, the headteacher at Llanidloes High School in Powys, for using school resources to teach children the way of the Lord.

Mr. Owen is accused of directing pupils to the evangelistic ‘Alpha’ Christian course.

‘Promoting Creationism’

Llanidloes School Poster
Llanidloes School Poster

The BBC reports that the school is also ‘promoting creationism’ with wall displays showing marine life and the solar system beneath lines from the Bible such as:

Psa 111:2 The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.

Teaching creationism as a scientific theory is banned in England, but not prohibited in schools in Wales. The NSS is calling for a ban on teaching creationism in schools in Wales, claiming ‘it undermines teaching about evidence-based theories such as evolution’, as if the theory of creation had no evidence to support it, or that ‘evolution’ was watertight.

Secularists worried by Bible

Photographs of school planners given to pupils reveal an advice page titled “Help in Time of Need,” featuring sections on suicide, sex, and abuse.

The  NSS are worried the page contains references Bible verses, including guidance for children to “flee from sexual immorality,” avoid “the evil desires of youth,” and cautioning that looking at women “lustfully” equates to having “committed adultery” in their heart.

The Bible says,
2 Timothy 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Teach gender ideologies not Christian values?

The criticism of the headteacher at Llanidloes High School raises the question: Why is it permissible to teach gender ideologies in schools but not Christian values?

Across the UK, schools have made gender ideologies the order of the day under the ‘Comprehensive Sex Education scheme’.

Children are being exposed to age-inappropriate content and taught questionable values, yet the teaching of Christian virtue is being criticised.

That is far from being ‘inclusive’ or ‘representative of diverse perspectives’. It favours a godless secularist ideology, which is, lest we forget, a pseudo-religious viewpoint.

The Bible says,
Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Children centre of woke agenda

Children have increasingly become the focal point of gender ideologies in education. This shift is evident in practices ranging from teachers discussing the existence of more than two genders to encouraging children to explore ‘diverse identities’. Currently, in the UK’s general election campaigning, it is unclear whether the Labour Party will, if it forms the next government, carry through with the Conservatives’ proposed ban on gender ideology. It’s education spokeswoman, Bridget Phillipson, said the guidance would be reviewed.

She has also said that ‘Trans women’ with male genitalia could use female lavatories under Labour’s plans to make gender change easier.

Additionally, the emergence of ‘drag queen story hour’ has sparked debate among parents and educators.  One commentator asked: Why are children always at the centre of this agenda? Why do ‘drag queens’ never want to read stories to the elderly?

The rise of homeschooling in the UK

Meanwhile, many parents are reported to have lost confidence in their children’s schools. A growing number of parents are choosing homeschooling as a way to regain oversight of what their children are taught. However, Labour appear to want a register of home-schooled children, the first step to interfering in what they are taught.

Homeschooling in the UK has seen a notable increase in recent years, according to a Savanta poll for CARE.

Many parents are citing concerns over the school curriculum as a primary reason for this choice, particularly concerning topics around gender and sexuality. The Savanta poll also suggests 4 in 10 parents have not been consulted on the content of lessons, despite this being a legal requirement.

Key findings of the poll

The Savanta Poll revealed that 41% of parents reported their schools use third-party organizations to deliver part of their RSE curriculum, affecting approximately 3.5 million children out of 8 million students in England.

Additionally, 44% of parents who requested to view the RSE materials taught to their children had their requests denied. Concerns about the RSE content are prevalent, with 46% of parents expressing some form of apprehension about what their children are being taught.

Furthermore, 52% of parents are unsure if their child would feel free from judegment when expressing views in RSE classes that differ from what is being taught. Despite statutory requirements, 36% of parents reported never being consulted on the content of their child’s RSE curriculum, with an additional 4% unsure if they had been consulted.

A BBC investigation also found the number of children moving to home education in the UK is at its highest level since the pandemic.

Councils received almost 50,000 notifications in the last academic year from families wanting to take their children out of school. This does not include children already being home educated.

Homeschooling increase in Scotland

In Scotland, there has been a significant rise in the number of parents choosing to homeschool their children due to concerns about falling educational standards and increasing classroom violence.

Data from Scottish councils indicates that over 2,200 children are now receiving education at home, representing a 40% increase in the last two years. This figure has more than doubled over the past seven years.

While homeschooling has become more common throughout the UK since the pandemic, critics suggest that the more pronounced rise in Scotland reflects a growing dissatisfaction with the state education system.

The new figures, from 30 of Scotland’s 32 councils, show that the number of pupils being homeschooled stood at 2,222 in the current academic year, up from 1,880 in 2022-23 and 1,591 in 2021-22.

‘It is of course the right of any family to choose to homeschool their child,” said Liam Kerr, the education spokesman for the Scottish Tories.’ But the rise in numbers here hardly reflects well on the SNP’s running of our schooling system.

‘We know in recent years that violence has increased, that standards have fallen, and that teaching career prospects are increasingly bleak.’

Support Christian Voice →

Parental concerns over LGBT ideologies

Parents’ concerns about losing influence over their children’s upbringing due to ‘LGBT’ ideologies in schools are also contributing to the homeschooling trend. For instance, a study by Policy Exchange found that a majority of parents are uncomfortable with the extent of gender ideology being taught in schools, fearing it undermines their values and parental authority.

Moreover, cases where schools have introduced controversial content without consulting parents have further fuelled these concerns. Many parents have voiced concerns about age-inappropriate content which they say infringes on their right to guide their children’s moral and ethical development.

Liberal Democrats: Christianity now a crime?

David Campanale

The Liberal Democrats have been accused of deselecting a candidate due to his Christian faith, breaching equality law.

Party members have reported the issue to the equalities watchdog, claiming that the party has tolerated a ‘hostile environment’ for people of faith, failed to investigate serious allegations of discrimination and harassment, and ’emboldened those who believe Christians should be driven out of public life’.

Meanwhile, the Liberal Democrats have insisted it is easy to be a Christian in their party, despite David Campanale alleging he was ousted for his faith.

David Campanale’s deselection

David Campanale was the party’s prospective parliamentary candidate for the south London constituency of Sutton & Cheam until he was deselected, owing to his Christian faith.

His opponents allege that he has connections to the Christian People’s Alliance (CPA), a group opposed to abortion and same-sex marriage.

Mr. Campanale, however, states he left the CPA over 12 years ago and suggests the campaign against him has hidden aims to secularise the LibDem party.

He asserts that in November 2022, he was subjected to derogatory remarks like ‘Christian nutter’ by party opponents, faced direct harassment and hostility and was told by local party members, ‘we do not recognise your right to have a conscience’ following a discussion on abortion.

He asserts that in November 2022, he was subjected to derogatory remarks like ‘Christian nutter’ by party opponents and faced direct harassment.

The prolonged period of hostility began after Campanale indicated his intention, if elected, to vote according to his conscience on non-whipped votes such as pro-life issues and was told by local party members, ‘we do not recognise your right to have a conscience’ following a discussion on abortion.

‘Breaches of equality law’

Activists also complained about the former journalist’s previous involvement with the Christian Peoples Alliance political party, and claimed he had not disclosed his Christian faith during the selection process, which he denies.

In a letter to the EHRC, Campanale’s supporters called for an independent investigation into “multiple alleged breaches of equality law and our party constitution”.

They wrote: ‘This evidence depicts a supposedly liberal organisation allowing clear religious discrimination and hostility to thrive within its ranks.

‘It suggests that Mr Campanale was driven out from his democratically elected position not because of any objective failings or wrongdoing but because a vocal group within SBLD [Sutton Borough Liberal Democrats] refused to tolerate his Christian worldview.’

Attack on Christianity not coincidental

The attack on Mr Campanale’s Christianity is not an isolated incident. Similar intolerance has been shown within the party before. Rob Flello, a former Labour MP, faced criticism and deselection within 36 hours as a LibDem candidate in Stoke-on-Trent South due to his socially conservative views as a Roman Catholic.

Tim Farron, a former LibDem leader, faced media scrutiny and later resigned rather than give up his evangelical Christian beliefs.

In Scotland, Scottish National Party Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes has faced criticism for her evangelical Christian beliefs. She married Alasdair “Ali” MacLennan in July 2021. Mrs MacLennan is a member of the Free Church of Scotland and opposed same-sex ‘marriage’, abortion and Nicola Sturgeon’s Gender Recognition Bill.

Muslims welcome in the Green Party

However, intolerance to religious views doesn’t seem to apply equally across the faith spectrum. The Green Party has selected numerous Muslim candidates for local council seats, despite their opposition to abortion (for Muslim women), homosexuality (for Muslim men, in theory) and transgenderism (for Muslim children).

When Mothin Ali, a Green Party candidate, won a council seat in Leeds, his religious outburst of the Muslim war-cry and his pro-Gaza statements on election night were met with excuses rather than criticism.  That is because the Green Party, in common with the anti-Christian left, opposes the existence of the State of Israel.

Police disrupt London street worship

Harmonie London performing on the Oxford street

A special police constable disrupted a street worshiper and claimed that singing gospel songs “outside of church grounds” was not allowed.

Harmonie London filmed and posted an apparent altercation between herself and Maya Hadzhipetkova, Metropolitan Police special constable – a volunteer role.

Ms London regularly performs worship music on Oxford Street in central London.

The altercation

Special constable Maya Hadzhipetkova disrupting street worship

In the clip posted to Harmonie’s Instagram page, special officer Maya Hadzhipetkova said: ‘No, miss, you’re not allowed to sing church songs outside of church grounds, by the way’.

Ms London responds: ‘You are, you are, you are, but the officer insists that she cannot sing “outside of church grounds” unless you have been authorised by the Church to do these kind of songs’.

Ms London replies: ‘That’s a load of rubbish, you’re allowed’.

The officer then walks away, while another adds: ‘She’s not saying anything any more, thank you for your time.’

The singer continues: ‘Are you saying that you don’t care about the Human Rights Act?’

As the altercation went on, the officer stuck her tongue out at Harmonie as she filmed.

When will this harassment end?

Maya Hadzhipetkova distrupting street worship

In recent times, Christians in the UK have encountered persistent harassment while preaching or singing praises to the Lord on the streets.

The incident highlighted above sheds light on the concerning behaviour of the police officer who, instead of protecting lives and properties, chose to mock the gospel by attempting to disrupt a singer’s performance.

This raises concerns about the extent to which Christians may be restricted from practicing their faith in public spaces by police officers with inadequate training in the exercise of basic freedoms.

The Bible says
John 15:19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Met Police apologises

The Metropolitan Police have apologised for special constable Maya Hadzhipetkova’s behaviour.

According to the force, Ms Hadzhipetkova should not have told Harmonie London to ‘stop performing church songs outside church grounds’. So why did she?

Met police said: ‘The officer was mistaken in saying church songs cannot be sung outside of church grounds.

‘We’re sorry for the offence caused and will take the learning forward,’ they added.

However, was this absurd altercation stemming from such a ridiculous starting position the result of inadequate training? Alternatively, did the officer receive full training in human rights and ignore it?

On the face of it, for any individual to tell another in a London street that they are not allowed to sing worship songs outside a church unless they have the permission of said church betrays a stunning ignorance of Christian freedom, or any basic kind of freedom in a normal society anywhere on earth.

Christian arrested for ‘homophobic’ preaching receives compensation

Man arrested for preaching on the street.

Man arrested for preaching on the street.

A Christian street preacher has received £5,500 in compensation from Police Scotland for being wrongfully arrested in connection to an unfounded homophobic ‘hate crime’ incident.

Angus Cameron, a former pastor at Cumnock Baptist Church, was detained for over an hour in Glasgow while preaching on Buchanan Street in January 2022.

Additionally, he was awarded £9,400 in legal costs, and he chose to donate the entire amount to the Christian Institute, which supported him throughout the case.

Victory for free speech

Angus Cameron’s situation is the latest in a series of wins for street preachers.

In July 2016, we reported that Michael Overd was arrested in Broadmead Shopping Center in Bristol. He and his fellow preacher, Mike Stockwell, were accused of ‘religious aggravated public order offence’ in February 2017. The pair were convicted in what we described as a biased magistrates court, and were duly acquitted on appeal to the Crown Court.

In 2019, Oluwole Ilesanmi faced a similar incident in London due to complaints about his preaching. He was arrested on accusations of ‘Islamophobia,’ driven four miles in a police car, then released on the side of the road.  He received £2,500 from the Metropolitan Police.

Similarly, in 23rd April 2021, CBN News reported that Pastor John Sherwood was arrested while preaching in an open air in Uxbridge, West London. He was accused of a criminal act for preaching what the word of God teaches about marriage. However, a year later, he was acquitted and cleared of all charges.

As much as there have been a number of wins recorded in the last few years, the battle is not over. It still seems it is easier for the police to arrest a preacher when they receive a complaint rather than to explain the principle of freedom of speech to the complainer. Senior police need to take action to stop this absurdity.

Buffer Zone Challenge

Stephen Green outside Uxbridge Magistrates Court
Stephen Green outside Uxbridge Magistrates Court

In our own case, Christian Voice National Director, Stephen Green, faced trial in Uxbridge Magistrates Court on Friday 19th January 2024 for displaying a Bible verse outside an abortion facility inside a ‘buffer zone’ in Ealing in London.

Stephen stood with a placard displaying Psalm 139:13, which says, in the King James version presented to King Charles at his coronation in May: Psa 139:13  For thou hast possessed my reins (= kidneys, insides): thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.

It is forbidden, under an Ealing Council ‘Public Spaces Protection Order’, to demonstrate either for or against abortion in the vicinity of the Marie Stopes abortion centre in Mattock Lane, W5. We say our verse is about human development in the womb, and challenge Ealing to say what relevance it has to abortion. In addition, we say there should be nowhere in the United Kingdom where the Bible may not be read in its entirety. Judge Burgess is expected to give her judgment on Thursday 1st February 2024.

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. (KJV)

Suicide: Family and foster parents at odds over 15-year-old’s funeral arrangements

Candles for Quinton at Maria’s residence

A dispute has emerged over the funeral arrangements of a 15-year-old boy who reportedly committed suicide on the 4th of January in Glengarnock, Scotland.

The boy, identified as Quinton Isaac, passed away under the care of foster parents, Neil and James Smith.

According to birth mother, Maria Mutadiua, she has been denied access to the funeral proceedings on the request of Samantha her 18-year-old daughter, who has also been under the care of the Smiths since she was four years old.

A council spokeswoman for Glasgow city said: ‘It is not for Social Work to decide who can or can’t attend a funeral.’

The HSCP referred to the Burial and Cremation (Scotland) Act 2016 which stipulates that without an arrangement on death declaration, the nearest relative can arrange for burial or cremation. ‘In this instance HSCP claims that Neil and James Smith have parental rights and responsibility for Quinton.

‘The spokesperson for social service in the Drumchapel area, told Christian Voice, ‘What happened to Quinton is quite unfortunate, and the service is doing everything possible to support Maria at this time.’

‘ Unfortunately, it is not our place to grant or deny access to funeral. But we will continue to offer support in any way we can.

Birth mother seeks answers

Maria Mutadiua, told Christian Voice, ‘ I was devastated, confused and almost lost my mind when the police called me about Quinton. After taking my son away from me with no intentions to give him back despite all my efforts for 12 years, the one phone call from them about my son is to tell me he is gone?

Maria Mutadiua speaking to Christian Voice in her residence.

‘ I see no reason why i can not have a say as to how my son should be buried, and most importantly being denied access to say goodbye.

‘Neil and James are only foster parents, not adopted parents’.

Ms Mutadiua alleges that Neil and James Smith, are behind the decision to exclude her from the funeral, as her daughter can not act alone. She also alleged that her son died of neglect and abandonment.

‘They abandoned my son during the holidays with strangers to God knows where. My son died without experiencing his mother’s love. I was also told my boy had been trying to commit suicide from the age of twelve. why am i just finding out’?

‘From the suicide note Quinton left behind, it shows that all ‘he wanted was true love, and he did not get it from the Smith’s’.

Maria acknowledged the efforts of the police and social services but has called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading up to her son’s death. She is seeking answers as to why social services took her children away from her in the first place. It is difficult to believe that a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old are capable of making decisions not to come back home, Ms Mutadiua added.

“Maria has not directly contacted us”

Meanwhile, Foster parents  Neil and James, told Christian Voice that they were not in the best frame of mind to speak on the matter, expressing profound sadness over the news of Quinton’s passing.

‘He was our son and we loved him dearly. All we can say is that Maria had the chance to take flowers to the Morgue and identified his body. How is it possible that we would say no to her attending the funeral?

‘We have seen and read the lies written about us on social media. Unfortunately, Maria has not directly contacted us about this funeral’, they added.

In the meantime, a social media post made by James Smith announces that Late Quinton will be laid to rest on Tuesday, January 23rd. According to the post, everyone is welcome to attend the proceeding. However, given the recommendations by authorities involved, it is still unclear if Maria can attend.

Injustice to motherhood?

Mabel Oboh, JOM press officer

Spokesperson for Josephine Oboh-Macleod (JOM) Charity SCIO, Mabel Oboh said, ‘ It is a great injustice to motherhood for any biological mother to be denied access to the funeral of her child.

‘They have told us it is Samantha’s wish that Maria does not attend the funeral, but we want the police, social services and carers to tell us where under the law it says a sibling has the right over a parent.

‘This does not make sense, and that’s why we began a campaign to get justice for Mutadiua. No one wakes up one day and decides to commit suicide. We demand answers.

‘They also said that JOM Charity should stop the ongoing petition for justice for Maria. But Oboh Macleod requested that they write a letter to that effect. The Police has said that their investigation is ongoing as to the cause of death’, She added.

‘As a charity organisation in Scotland, and with the authority to represent Maria on humanitarian grounds, we are advocating for Maria and her other children to be granted the opportunity to pay their last respects’.

Ms. Oboh added that Quinton and Samantha were taken away by social services at the age of two, and four despite lack of reasons involving neglect or abuse or Maria’s consent.

Same sex couples fostering children?

Christian Voice has always maintained that God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. Therefore the idea of allowing two men act as parents in the first place is completely against the word of God.

The Bible says,
Genesis 2:23-24 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man…Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

In July 2020, a judge ruled that an evangelical Christian fostering service must allow gay parents to sign up as carers. Cornerstone expressed that it would “prayerfully” reflect on the court’s findings.

This followed a 2019 inspection, where Ofsted downgraded Cornerstone from a “good” to a “requires improvement” rating, citing concerns about the charity’s carer recruitment policies.

Mr. Justice Julian Knowles acknowledged the fostering service’s legal allowance to recruit based on its religious ethos. However, he deemed the policy requiring “applicants to refrain from homosexual conduct” as unlawful.

Christians forced to accept sodomy?

In the last couple of years, Christians have been pressured into accepting what the society presents as parenting

In 2011, a Christian couple, Eunice and Owen Johns, lost their high court claim asserting that they faced discrimination from a local authority for maintaining their right to express to young foster children that homosexuality is morally wrong.

In their sixties and with a history of fostering, the Johns contended that Derby City Council discriminated against them due to their Christian beliefs when they declined to affirm the acceptability of a “homosexual lifestyle” to a child.

In a judgement, Lord Justice Munby and Justice Beatson dismissed the claims put forth by the couple’s lawyer, deeming them “a travesty of reality.”

Christian theology lecturer launches legal action over unfair dismissal

A Christian theology lecturer has launched legal action after being sacked and threatened with a Counter-Terrorism referral, by an ‘evangelical Methodist Bible college,’ for a tweet on human sexuality.

Dr Aaron Edwards is suing Cliff College in Derbyshire and is seeking damages for unfair dismissal and compensation under the Equality Act 201

In March 2023, Dr Edwards, 37, was sacked for alleged misconduct by Cliff College in Derbyshire for ‘bringing the college into disrepute‘ on Twitter (now called X).

Meanwhile, earlier this year,  the CEO of Twitter/X, Elon Musk, announced that he would support any user treated unfairly by their employer for posting or liking something on the platform.

The Bible says,
2 Timothy 3:11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.

Uphold Christian freedom and repeal ‘woke’ laws →

How it started

In February, Dr Aaron Edwards posted: “Homosexuality is invading the Church. Evangelicals no longer see the severity of this b/c they’re busy apologising for their apparently barbaric homophobia, whether or not it’s true. This *is* a ‘Gospel issue’, by the way. If sin is no longer sin, we no longer need a Saviour.”

Following the tweet, Dr Edwards was not only suspended by Cliff College and threatened with being reported to Prevent during an investigation and subsequent hearing, he was also abused online.

The college has since tried to deny the Counter-Terrorism threat, despite minutes during the disciplinary hearing/investigation revealing the intimidation tactics used by college bosses.

During the disciplinary hearings, Dr Edwards was also interrogated on how he would pray for same-sex attracted students who approach him for prayer.

He believes as a result of the sacking and subsequent controversy that he might not be able to work in UK higher education again.

Dr Edwards will be seeking damages for unfair dismissal, and compensation under the Equality Act 2010. A full employment tribunal hearing is expected in 2024.

Christian freedom and free speech

Dr Aaron has said that: “Anyone concerned about academic freedom, Christian freedoms and free speech should be deeply concerned by what has happened to me.”

“The reaction to my tweet and the unjust treatment I have experienced by Cliff College and the Methodist Church in Britain completely illustrates the problem my tweet addressed.

“The tweet was not defamatory; it was not an attack on any colleague or individual; it was not abusive; and it was not an extremist religious view. It was addressed to evangelicals as a point of doctrine, and it has been misunderstood by many who wish to cause personal and institutional trouble for those who express that view.

“The impact on me and my family has been very significant. I have lost many friends as a result, and been slandered by people who do not know all of the details but who now see me as an unkind or hateful person.

“At the time of the suspension and dismissal I also suffered severe physical stress, culminating in symptoms of cardiac arrest. This sometimes returns, especially when I reflect on the events again. Re-reading the correspondence from the college and the various comments, is something I still find difficult as it brings it all up again. It feels like everything I worked for at the college (and for the college) over the last 7 years has gone up in smoke.

Methodist and Church of England on sodomy teachings

The Methodist Church in Britain decided in June 2021 to allow same-sex marriages in places of worship, causing a conflict. Traditionally, the church believed in marriage between a man and a woman as it should be and considered gay relationships as wrong.

Now, church leaders and members are caught in a dilemma. Preachers are forced to support same-sex marriage but continue to teach that being gay is sinful. Conservative Christians who disagree with this change find it difficult to express their beliefs without being labeled as ‘homophobic’ or facing consequences. Some have even been reported as risks or referred to the government for having ‘extreme’ views.

The Bible can not be wrong on matters relating to sodomy.
Genesis 18:20 And the Lord said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous.

Signs of the end time

In recent years, societal norms have undergone significant shifts, and institutions, including churches, have grappled with changes that challenge age-old beliefs. One noteworthy development is the increasing acceptance and adoption of same-sex marriages within religious communities, reflecting a broader trend where what was once considered unconventional or even taboo is becoming normalised.

Work places are accepting staff members sign in as whatever gender they choose, children are allowed to even identify as cats, moons, and the society still sees nothing wrong with this?

As these shifts unfold, everyone should be prompted to ponder the significance of these societal transformations and their potential connections about the end times.

The Bible says,
2 Timothy 3:1-5 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come…For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God…Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Christian teacher may lose job for refusal to promote “LGBTQ” ideology

Glawdys Leger

A Christian teacher is at risk of losing her career for refusing to promote and teach extreme “LGBTQ” ideology at a Church of England (CofE) secondary school. Glawdys Leger is being criticised for expressing her biblical beliefs on human sexuality in response to student questions, according to the Telegraph

Glawdys Leger

The 43-year-old, had been a specialist Modern Foreign Languages teacher for 12 years before she was sacked by Bishop Justus CofE School in Bromley, Kent in May 2022.

Ms. Leger asserts that she was unfairly treated and likened to a ‘dangerous criminal’ because of her decision to decline to teach extreme and politically partisan “LGBTQ” lessons, which had been incorporated into Religious Education (RE) lessons, to year 7 pupils at the school.

Specifically, she expressed her biblical beliefs regarding human sexuality that ‘God believes humans are born male and female and that LGBTQI practice is sinful.’ This was in response to questions posed by her students.

The Aquinas Church of England Education Trust subsequently reported Ms Leger to the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) because she allegedly upset one pupil by sharing her views on “LBGTQ”

On the basis of upset, not harm to a child, the TRA decided to take forward a case against her.

Ms Leger faces a fitness to practise hearing at the TRA’s headquarters in Coventry, the outcome of which could see her barred from the profession indefinitely.

Religious education (RE) entitled ‘Who Am I’

After starting work at the school in 2017, Ms Leger had seen a continuous increase in the promotion of “LGBTQ” identities and other contentious ethical and political issues within the “Christian” school.

As well as language lessons, Ms Leger also had to teach RE, but discovered that teaching material included extreme content on gender identity with themes that begin to suggest to children that humans can be born in the wrong body.

Materials for RE entitled ‘Who Am I’ included introducing children in Year 7 to gender identities, such as pansexual, asexual, intersex and transgender.

The lessons were also designed to encourage ‘allyship’, which the materials described as: “Typically a non-queer person who supports and advocates for the queer community.”

She said, ‘Presentation slides integrated the idea that a condition of friendship and ‘allyship’ at the school would involve defending and promoting any ‘protected characteristics’, including any gender identities.

Gender identity is not a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010, which makes such teaching misleading and partisan.’

Be not deceived

This is a wake up call for parents not to take their eyes off children just because they are enrolled in Christian schools. More because sodomy ideologies have been sold to schools across Britain in the guise of sexuality education and the promotion of “inclusivity”.

Surely, a school built on Christian values is expected to uphold Biblical standards. However, this is not the case. The time to be a watchman, a teacher and guardian to children is now.

The Bible says,
Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Deviating from UK education policy

According to the UK education policy, one of its objectives is ensuring children learn the basics of literacy and numeracy, as well as transferable skills.

‘We will build on our current engagement in pre-primary education, in recognition of its role in preparing children for the classroom and securing foundation skills.’

From the government’s own drafted and published policy, where is the correlation between ‘ the basics of literacy, and “LGBTQ” propaganda?

Is it not presenting a biased perspective that children are only allowed to learn or accept the existence of different genders (which is clearly non-existence) while teaching them the truth is deemed as unlawful?

The Bible says,
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Christian councillor suspended for ‘Pride is a sin’ tweet reinstated

King Lawal

King Lawal

A Christian councillor who was suspended for tweeting that pride is not a virtue but a sin has been reinstated by a local Conservative group after having been suspended since July.

King Lawal, a Northamptonshire councillor, was being investigated by the Conservative Party for expressing his religious beliefs on social media. According to Mr Lawal, six other organisations cancelled him.

Responding to images of pride parades organised by LGBT groups at the end of last month, he wrote: ‘When did Pride become a thing to celebrate? Because of Pride,  Satan fell as an arch Angel. Pride is not a virtue but a Sin. Those who have Pride should Repent of their sins and return to Jesus Christ. He can save you. #PrideMonth #Pride23 #PrideParade.’

Speaking on GBNews, Cllr Lawal said: ‘My Tweet was purely on Biblical truths, to express my Christian views on sin, and nothing more.’

‘The morning before the Tweet, I saw naked men shaking their bottoms around children watching. It disgusts me and brought out the righteous anger within me.’

The Bible says,
Prov 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

In a twinkling of an eye

In a sudden turn of events, King Lawal has been stripped of his positions in various organisations and roles where he had been performing exceptionally. According to him, he received an email from the leader of North Northamptonshire Unitary Council, informing him of his suspension for a duration of 21 days, pending an investigation.

He faced dismissal as a trustee of Groundwork Northampton, suspension as an Academy Council member for Weavers Academy, removal as a Governor of Northampton Healthcare Foundation Trust, and a ban from holding a joint Police and Council surgery in the local library.

Again, forced to resign

There has been a concerning trend of pressuring individuals to resign based on their expression of religious beliefs. In Councillor Lawal’s situation, he stated that he was compelled to resign from his position in a nursing and care business. This occurred after he received an ultimatum from another local authority, claiming that his stance, as represented in a Tweet, was unattainable.

In June 2023, a senior British Army officer said he was forced to quit after being criticised for repeating that “men cannot be women”.

A devout Christian social worker had a £25,000-a-year job offer revoked after his employer discovered his previous legal victory affirming his freedom of speech.

According to the Daily Mail, Felix Ngole faced expulsion from a social worker training course at Sheffield University after sharing a Facebook post that referenced Bible passages on the topic of same-sex marriage.

But in a major victory for free speech, he was allowed to return to his training when the Court of Appeal ruled in 2019 that Mr Ngole would ‘never discriminate against anyone’ because of his personal views.

Interrogated over Christian views

The Mail on Sunday reported: ‘But now the father-of-three faces further hardship as a result of his religious beliefs. He successfully applied for a job at Leeds-based Touchstone Support as a mental health support worker but the offer was rescinded weeks later when the organisation discovered his involvement in the previous case. The company, which is backed by LGBT lobby group Stonewall, claimed his ‘strong views against homosexuality’ did not align with its ‘ethos and values’.

‘It argued Mr Ngole posed a ‘significant risk’ to its patients and reputation and it would only consider employing him if he gave assurances that he would ’embrace and promote LGBT rights’.

‘Mr Ngole told The Mail on Sunday how senior staff at Touchstone had ‘interrogated’ him over his Christian values in a second interview after accepting the role. ‘It was an attack on my faith,’ Mr Ngole said.’

Freedom of Speech NOT free

In recent times, we have seen Christians being attacked for exercising their basic human right to expressing personal views/opinion and maintain Biblical standards.

A Christian teacher was suspended indefinitely from teaching in any sixth-form college in England for addressing a girl as a girl.

The former teacher identified as Joshua Sutcliffe, admitted to not using the pupil’s preferred pronouns and said he was “devastated” by the ruling, but owes no apology.

Apart from the allegations of “misgendering a pupil”, Mr Sutcliffe was also found in the wrong for expressing views against gay marriage when questioned by a pupil.

He plans to appeal and is being supported by the Christian Legal Centre.

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

A trend

In 2020, a Christian school assistant who was dismissed for criticising the introduction of teaching about LGBT relationships in primary schools on her Facebook post, lost her case at the tribunal.

Farmor’s School in Fairford, Gloucestershire, claimed the reason for Kristie Higgs’ dismissal was based on “gross misconduct”.

In the hearing at Bristol employment tribunal, her legal team argued that her dismissal breached her freedom of speech and freedom of religion.

In 2019 , a local paper reported that a Christian doctor lost his job after refusing to refer to transgender people by their preferred pronouns.

Dr David Mackereth also lost his appeal at an employment tribunal in Birmingham to challenge a legal judgment on the basis of religious discrimination and harassment.

Hypocrisy

It is hypocritical to ban men who claim to be women from spotting competitions, and in another breath fault people who hold a different opinions about these things.
We see that Almighty God has made each of us in his image with XY or XX genetics from the beginning of creation:
Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Christian teacher banned for calling a girl a girl

A Christian teacher has been stopped indefinitely from teaching in any sixth-form college or children’s home in England for “misgendering” a pupil.

Joshua Sutcliffe, 33,  was banned from the teaching profession for addressing a girl as a girl.

Truth is fallen

According to the Telegraph, the Teaching Regulation Authority (TRA) ruled that Mr Sutcliffe had failed to treat a pupil with “dignity and respect”. They also claim he failed to protect the pupil’s well-being because he did not use the “preferred pronouns” of a girl who “identified as a boy”.

Apart from the allegations of “misgendering a pupil”, Mr Sutcliffe was also found in the wrong for expressing views against gay marriage when questioned by a pupil. He was accused of failing to “consider the potential impact” on his pupils, particularly those who may be practising same-sex relationships. We have stated the Biblical position on sodomy many times, not least here:

Together in Love and Faith dissected →

On the matter of truth the word of God is clear.

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

The prophets even condemn societies like ours:

Isaiah 59:14 And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.

Hosea 4:2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.

Given the reasons for this ban,  it is safe to report the 33-year-old was stripped of his license because he spoke against sodomy, and used the correct pronouns to address a pupil. The former teacher can apply for the ban to be removed in 2025.

Teacher’s response

Mr Sutcliffe, a former maths teacher at the Cherwell School, a state secondary in Oxford, admitted to not using the pupil’s preferred pronouns and said he was “devastated” by the ruling, but owes no apology.

He plans to appeal and is being supported by the Christian Legal Centre.

‘I believe affirming children in gender confusion in the classroom is psychologically damaging for them. I refuse to go against my conscience and cause a child harm and refuse to apologise for that,’ he told the Telegraph.

Standards ‘broken’

The panel claimed the teacher fell significantly short of the standard expected of a teacher.

Meanwhile, the teaching guide says: “Teachers make the ‘education’ of their pupils their ‘first concern’, and are accountable for achieving the highest standards in work and conduct.

“Teachers act with ‘honesty and integrity’; have strong subject knowledge, keep their knowledge and skills as teachers up-to-date and are self-critical; forge positive professional relationships; and work with parents in the best interests of their pupils”.

How is it possible in that light that putting education first, and acting with honesty and integrity has become a crime?  Read our related stories on the transgenderism scandal:

‘Psychologically damaging’ for children

The ruling comes as schools wait for detailed government guidance for schools on how to respond to transgender pupils. The guidance is due to be published in summer 2023.

A Whitehall source told the Telegraph that the guidance will reflect the interim findings of the Cass review, an NHS-commissioned report by pediatrician Dr Hilary Cass.

She warned that allowing children to “socially transition” to their preferred gender was “not a neutral act” and could have a “significant” impact on their “psychological functioning”.

More Risks

In our previous articles , we made clear the risks of gender alteration, be it male or female.

Although critics claim that gender reassignment procedures can alleviate the distress and psychological pain they say young people with gender dysphoria experience, vaginoplasty surgery carries risks and potential complications on top of the ill-effects of hormonal medicines.

These risks include bleeding, infection, scarring, loss of sensation, complications related to anesthesia, or even death, as with the aforementioned 16-year-old.

Recovery time can also be lengthy, and follow-up care is often required to monitor healing and address any issues that may arise.  The Lord Jesus said medicine is for people who are ill:

Matthew 9:12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.

Education NOT indoctrination

Heavers Farm School
Heavers Farm School

In a separate case, a court has ruled against Christian parents who took a London school to court after it prevented pupils, including her 4-year-old son, from opting out of a school ‘gay pride’ event.

Ms Izzy Montague filed a complaint after she was told her son could not opt out of an LGBTQ event staged at Heavers Farm School despite the family’s Christian beliefs.

The parents, Izzy and Shane Montague are to appeal their case after the Central London County Court dismissed their claim against their child’s former school, Heavers Farm, for attempting to force him to participate in an “LGBT-themed Pride Parade”.

Truth is indeed fallen and equity cannot enter when the UK establishment passes such perverse rulings. They can run on for a long time, but in the end, God will not be mocked:

Eccl 5:8 If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.

PRAY: Pray for the minds of our children against evil vices and corrupt practices.  Pray against plans to destroy the family unit ordained by God.  Thank God for the Department of Education for their decision to investigate and pray their guidance will be righteous.  Pray for the wisdom of God in our leaders.

MPs Outlaw Protests against Abortion

MPs at Parliament

Last night Members of Parliament voted to outlaw any form of protest outside abortion clinics.

MPs voted on Tuesday 19th October 2022 in favour of installing buffer zones 150 meters around all abortion clinics and hospitals in England and Wales. 297 MPs voted in favour of the amendment while 110 rejected it, a majority of 187. Two hundred and forty MPs did not vote at all.

MPs were allowed a free vote by their parties on the amendment, which meant they did not face pressure from party leaders to vote a certain way. It also meant the amendment was sure to pass; Labour and Liberal Democrats MPs always vote virtually en masse for abortion, while the Conservatives are always split.

What the New Clause Says

The new clause adds an ‘Offence of interference with access to or provision of abortion services.’
It says: ‘(1) A person who is within a buffer zone and who interferes with any person’s decision to access, provide, or facilitate the provision of abortion services in that buffer zone is guilty of an offence’ and the penalty can be six months in prison.

‘Interferes with’ means ‘(a) seeks to influence, (b) persistently, continuously or repeatedly occupies, (c) impedes or threatens, (d) intimidates or harasses, (e) advises or persuades, attempts to advise or persuade, or otherwise expresses opinion, (f) informs or attempts to inform about abortion services by any means, including, without limitation, graphic, physical, verbal or written means, or (g) sketches, photographs, records, stores, broadcasts, or transmits images, audio, likenesses or personal data of any person without express consent.’

One MP ventured that someone driving a partner or a friend to an abortion clinic would be guilty of a crime if they merely asked ‘Are you sure you want to go through with this?’ Guilty that is, if the car were within 150m of the clinic. If the car is outside that distance they can say what they like. Naturally, the Guardian claims the measure was necessary to protect women accessing abortion services from protests and harassment.

Clare Murphy, chief executive of the British Pregnancy Advisory Service, said ‘Every year, around 100,000 women are treated by a clinic or hospital for an abortion that is targeted by anti-abortion protests.
These groups attempt to deter or prevent women from accessing abortion care by displaying graphic images of foetuses, calling women ‘murderers’, and hanging baby clothing around clinic entrances, causing women significant distress. Today’s vote will bring an end to this activity.’
Note ‘abortion care’. But the Bible confirms a baby in the womb, or ‘foetus’ in the language of the pro-abortion people, is a living human being. This is Elizabeth, 6 months pregnant with John the Baptist, speaking to Mary, the mother of an embryonic Jesus:

Luke 1:44 For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

In that case, destroying that infant life is not ‘care’, it is murder, and the Bible condemns murder regardless of the means:

Deut 27:25 Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen.

Labour MP Stella Creasy proposed the new rules. She said: ‘Clause 11 is about abortion because, let us be honest, nobody is praying outside the places where people go to have a hip operation. Nobody offers rosary beads or dead foetuses outside the places people go when they have an ankle injury. This is about women accessing a very specific form of healthcare.’

No, indeed they are not. That is because those are genuine healthcare facilities; they are not places where people are being put to death, ripped out of what should be the safest place on God’s earth, a place of nurture and growth, as the Bible says:

Psalm 139:13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.

Ms Creasy said, ‘It does not stop free speech on abortion. It does not stop people protesting. It simply says you shouldn’t have the right to do this in the face of somebody, and very often these people are right up in front of people.’

Of course sending protestors 150 metres (164 yards) away does stop them protesting. And the Bible says:

Prov 31:8 Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.

Carla Lockhart, Democratic Unionist MP for Upper Bann in Ulster, said ‘Many women have been helped by volunteers outside abortion clinics. The right hon. Member for Gainsborough (Sir Edward Leigh) referred to Alina Dulgheriu, who wrote last week about her experience and how a lady helped her outside an abortion clinic. I will not repeat the story, but she explained that her “beautiful daughter would not be here today” without support from a volunteer handing out a leaflet outside the clinic.

Attack on Freedom of Speech

Under Article 10 of the Human Right Act 1998, everyone has the right to freedom of expression in the UK.
‘This right shall include freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers.’
The amendment to the Public Order Bill is an attack on freedom of speech. Ironically, the Opposition are claiming the entire Bill is an attack on freedom of speech.
Home Office minister Jeremy Quin said Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs) were effective in protecting abortion clinics, and that a blanket ban on protests was a ‘blunt approach and disproportionate given the existing powers that can and should be used’. Mr Quin voted ‘No’, but as we have seen, Tory MPs were allowed to vote as they wanted.

Hospitals with Buffers

Currently, police and local authorities are permitted to set up zones in response to complaints over protests.
In 2018, Ealing Council in west London established the country’s first buffer zone, around a Marie Stopes clinic. Pro-life campaigners lost a legal challenge against it in 2019.
Five abortion clinics have buffer zones set up under PSPOs, which are local authority-led powers. Other councils have subsequently proposed similar schemes, with the latest in Bournemouth banning not just preaching but singing.
Similar legislation has been proposed in Scotland.
In June, Sottish minister, Nicola Sturgeon, said the Scottish government would back a member’s bill that would see 150-metre no-go areas placed outside health facilities so women could access services without fear, harassment or intimidation.

Defaulters to Face the law

The Sponsor of the amendment bill Stella Creasy, said anyone found guilty of breaching the buffer zone will face a summary conviction with a prison term of up to six months, an unlimited fine, or both.
The Bill still has several stages to clear before becoming law, including scrutiny in the House of Lords.
Christian Voice National Director, Stephen Green, said today: ‘If this becomes law, which may God forbid, we shall need to test its limits by standing outside clinics, perhaps with placards with various Bible verses (it’s what we do) or just silently praying, or perhaps preaching in general. I do not mind being arrested for preaching or witnessing, and we can see how it runs in the courts. They have picked a fight with the God of heaven. Who can remain silent?’

Innocent Blood brings Judgment

No to Abortion

The Bible says the shedding of innocent blood brings judgment:
Numb 35:33 So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.
If infanticide is legalised in a realm, the land indeed cannot be cleansed at all, and the judgment falls on the whole society. From the first recorded homicide in the Bible, we know that innocent blood cries to heaven:
Gen 4:10 And he (God) said (to Cain), What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground.
