As MPs get ready to vote on the Government’s Tiers for England, an academic report reveals that their figures on Covid ‘cases’ and deaths are all a work of fiction.
Professor Mike Yeadon together with Clare Craig, Jonathan Engler and Christian McNeill have published a paper today showing that neither the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test, nor the figures for Covid deaths, can be taken at face value. In particular, they reveal the PCR test is worse than useless. Their paper is entitled ‘PCR-Based Covid Testing Has Failed.’
The academics have sent a copy of their paper to every MP. We are now urging you to use this link to the Parliament website to email your MP and demand the end to all restrictioins, masks, anti-social distancing, across the whole UK. Ask you MP to vote against the Government proposals.

‘The Problem’

In their paper, the authors set out what they see as ‘The problem’.
They say: ‘Across Europe, including in the UK, we see the following:
‘Daily ‘cases’ sky-rocketed in Europe as Autumn arrived.
‘Daily deaths labelled as ‘Covid deaths’ rose in line with ‘cases’ – to levels apparently higher than at the Spring peak.
‘BUT: Total all-cause mortality does not reflect the above.
‘What is behind this conundrum?’
They go on: ‘The central thesis of this paper is that we have a major problem with PCR-testing. This is distorting policy and creating the illusion that we are in a serious pandemic when in fact we are not. This is causing:
‘Excess deaths due to restricted access to the NHS.
‘An NHS staffing crisis which is exacerbating matters.
‘Unprecedented assaults on civil liberties and the economy.’
They propose: ‘Stop mass-testing using PCR in the UK and replace with Lateral Flow Tests where required.’ They have other recommendations in their document, including redefining what an ‘outbreak’ is and overturning the current totalitarian Ofcom ban on voices dissenting from the Government line.
Arguing over ‘which tier’ is a red herring
Note that the problems with the PCR test are beside the rows blowing up over whether this village or that town should be in this or that tier. The Government will happily talk for ever about the allocation of tiers, as Boris Johnson has been doing all today. It is a red herring. They key point to make to your MP is that the whole charade of lockdowns, restrictions and tiers has been based on false figures. Looked at dispassionately, there has been no ‘second wave’ and no undue load on the NHS. Even the vaunted ‘R’ number is now at 1.0, says the BBC. People must be freed to go about their normal business.
The problem is, the Government have spent billions on the PCR tests. To admit they were a total waste of money would be a great step of humility which in the natural we are unlikely to see.
But with a vote due next week, let us pray the Lord will move hearts in answer to our prayer.

Effects of lockdowns felt worldwide
Lockdowns here in the West have had devastating effects all over the world. People overseas depend on countries like the UK for work, particularly in the clothing industry. Here’s a tragic story from Keep the Faith. They blame it on the coronavirus, but it’s the lockdowns that have done it:

‘”We had just finished repaying our entire previous loan through my tailoring work. I thought that I would not have to work anymore as a debt bonded labourer on other people’s land. I had started dreaming. But the coronavirus didn’t let my dream come true.”
‘It’s not that her business is unviable – in ordinary times, tailoring provides a secure income. But when troubles come, the small luxuries are the first to go. No one in her village can afford to buy new clothes right now.’
Back to the money-lender
‘With no other options to keep her family fed, Anjoli returned to the moneylender – borrowing money and rice, at extortionate interest rates. Coronavirus has forced the most vulnerable people backwards – back into slavery, debt and hopelessness. For Anjoli, the last few months have been humiliating. “Last month the moneylender came and forcibly removed the gold wedding ring from my husband’s hand. It was given to him by my father.”
‘We can’t let coronavirus take any more from the world’s most vulnerable communities. This Christmas, we need to take action. Yesterday Boris Johnson presented his case for #Lockdown2 in the House of Commons, laden with references to ‘R’s’ which, he said, have to come down. Read the debate HEREand its second part HERE.
Gyms, churches and take-aways
Hardly anyone was pleased with it, apart from a few sycophantic Conservative MPs.
Labour and the LibDems wanted a lockdown earlier and pointed out that just ten days ago Mr Johnson was ridiculing their idea.
Many Conservative MPs were puzzled why low-risk activities such as gyms and non-interactive outdoor sports would be banned, along with religious worship and contact trades such as hairdressers, where those in charge have taken extraordinary – even ridiculous – measures to make their activities ‘Covid-safe’. And why can pubs and restaurants not provide take-away beer with take away meals? They did in Lockdown1.
Prayer and assessments
Jim Shannon MP called for a national day of prayer, and his colleague Iain Paisley also called for a return to Almighty God. Sammy Wilson ventured that chief medical officers and their computer models were not that different to the medicine men of primitive societies throwing a bag of bones on the ground. ‘They then made their analysis and told people what sacrifices had to be made to satisfy the gods. I suspect that our sophisticated society is not much different,’ he went on.
Sir Graham Brady, Anne Marie Morris (Newton Abbot) and even Labour’s Rosie Cooper asked Mr Johnson to publish his assessment of the expected damage from Lockdown2.
All the PM said to Sir Graham was: ‘There are many estimates of the economic impact that the country has already sustained and many projections of the losses in employment that we, alas, expect. Against them, we must set the tragic loss of life that would inevitably ensue if the House failed to act on Wednesday.’
So have the Government done no modelling on the side-effects?
Show me the data!
Loss of life is invariably tragic. But Covid is not the only or even the main culprit. Iain Paisley reminded the House that ‘By the time the curtain comes down this evening, 600 people across the United Kingdom will have died of cancer, more than 500 will have died of heart disease and 20 people have taken their own life through the misery of suicide. They are practically forgotten in the panic of the coronavirus.’

Mark Harper was sceptical of the latest Graph of Doom shown by Chief Medical Officer Prof Whitty and Chief Scientific Adviser Sir Patrick Vallance on TV on Saturday night. He said: ‘Carl Heneghan, the professor of evidence-based medicine at Oxford, and Daniel Howdon, a senior research fellow, looked at the graph that was presented, and have pointed out that the worst of these scenarios suggested that on 1st November there would be 1,000 daily deaths, which is about four times the level of the actual number of deaths taking place. That does at least cast some doubt on the accuracy of that scenario, which is why I want to see all of the data.’

In fact the Cambridge / Public Health England projection was three weeks out of date and as its predictions have failed already, it’s invalid. A newer model predicted far fewer deaths, but the CMO and CSA chose not to show it. Journalist Ross Clark claims they ‘Cherry-picked’ data to suit their cause, which was, yet again, Project Fear.
Professor Carl Heneghan
Professor Heneghan was scathing about the SAGE men on TalkRadio yesterday. He also pointed out:
* ‘Prof Tim Spector’s KCL data is showing infections are “flatlining across the board”.
* ‘Government policy isn’t guided by the evidence; rather, it is massaging the evidence to justify the policy.
* ‘The Government is ignoring the costs of lockdowns, both economically and in terms of non-Covid deaths.
* ‘The PCR test identifies people as “positive” if they’ve had the virus three or four weeks ago and are no longer infectious.
* ‘Yes, the NHS is running at about 90-95% capacity, but that’s normal for this time of year. Why the panic?’
Cases and infections falling
The CMO and CSA also chose to include only 29 of England’s 854 hospitals. They excluded 232 with zero Covid cases and hundreds more with fewer than 100.
Furthermore, just as Boris Johnson was ploughing on the Commons, talking of how is is ‘always aware of the economic consequences’, claiming he has been ‘forced’ into Lockdown2, maintaining his ‘R’ will be ‘below 1′ and ‘we can do it by 2 December’, news was breaking that the UK had recorded the fewest daily infections in a fortnight. Department of Health figures showed 18,950 people tested positive for the disease on November 2nd – down 9.3% in a week and the lowest since Monday, October 19th (18,804).
The UK also saw another 136 coronavirus deaths yesterday, down from 326 on Saturday. Monday is usually low after the weekend, so we shall add the Tuesday figure figure here as soon as we have it.
Lag times and claiming credit
Any effects of Lockdown2 (Covid effects, not dire effects on peoples livelihoods and health) will take almost four weeks to feed in. It takes some six days for symptom onset and another eight days for the tiny percentage of those who are infected who require hospital care to be admitted. The small percentage who will succumb to the disease, almost every one with pre-existing medical conditions, will pass away after another 8-10 days. That’s over three weeks.
Either infections and deaths will stabilise over the period or they will keep chugging upwards. (Obviously 4,000 deaths by December 3rd is preposterous.) Either way it will be no thanks to Lockdown2, although the Government will take any credit for a reduction and will propose more oppression if figures trend upwards.
Keep calm and carry on
Bob Seely MP
Bob Seely (Isle of Wight) (Con) said to ‘wait for the cavalry in the form of a vaccine … is not a strategy, but the absence of one’. He suggested we “Keep calm and carry on.”
Mr Seely continued: ‘I am not quite sure about what the aims are. Are they to save life regardless? At the moment, we are sacrificing the lives of the young. Are the aims to save quality-adjusted life years? The Government’s own report from July said that the health impacts of the two-month lockdown were greater than those of direct covid deaths.
‘Professor Sikora has said: “The full consequences of lockdowns haven’t been properly considered by those who claim to have the answers. If a wider range of voices had been considered from the start, perhaps we wouldn’t be in the utter mess we’re in.” I am sorry to have to quote that, but I do think it is a valuable quote to have.’
Keeping calm was the last thing on the mind of the Minister for Patient Safety, Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, Nadine Dorries MP, as she wound up the Covid debate by describing the virus as ‘a deadly adversary’ which ‘leaves young people with long covid and attacks the central nervous system.’ No it’s not, except for a tiny number, and no it doesn’t, except for a tiny number. It is so sad to have a nominally Christian MP spreading false witness and adding to Project Fear.
Turn to prayer
Pray for a reduction in Covid infection, cases, admissions and deaths, because in the natural that is the only thing which will prevent the Government doing more damage. Remember, never previously has a public health challenge been addressed by deliberately putting people out of work and that doing so, stopping people from providing for their families, is an oppression which cries to heaven:

However, also pray for a change of heart among Government and its duplicitous advisors:
Exodus 23:1 Thou shalt not raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.
Above all, pray for them to seek the Lord, just as Jim Shannon MP has called for a day of prayer, that they humble themselves, not, as Boris Johnson said, before the virus, but before the Almighty King Jesus:
Zech 1:3 Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the LORD of hosts.

Restaurants and bars are preparing to close daily at 6pm in Glasgow and Edinburgh at the behest of Scotland’s Supreme Leader Nicola Sturge-Un, putting thousands out of work yet again.
Amos 4:1 Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria, which oppress the poor, which crush the needy, which say to their masters, Bring, and let us drink.
Meanwhile, the UK Government is predicting a ‘second wave’ of Covid-19 in the North West of England ‘even worse than the first’.
It will happen, they say, ‘within the next three weeks’.
Documents leaked
The scary public health documents have been sent to public health staff around Greater Manchester and Lancashire and leaked to the Mail. They say:
‘Even if a full scale lockdown was called tomorrow bed occupancy would continue to rise after the next two weeks as hospital beds fill quicker than they empty for Covid patients.
‘During the first peak in April hospital bed occupancy reached its maximum point in the North West at 2,890 on April 13th. It is extremely likely that this will happen in 17 to 22 days. If nothing changes in terms of downward pressure on R [reproduction rate] in the next 10 days, hospital bed occupancy will start to approach 6,000 in 30 to 35 days. This is double the number of beds occupied at the peak in the North West in April.’
Jer 6:25 Go not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy and fear is on every side.
Look out for the figures in three weeks’ time (30th October).
It’s becoming boring
Three-and-a-half weeks ago, on 14th September, one Dr John Ashton, former president of the UK Faculty of Public Health, told Sky News: ‘We’re seeing day on day now about 3,000 reported new cases. We feel as though it’s back in March,’ he said.
He went on: ‘In a week’s time you’ll get people getting sicker, in two to three weeks’ time we’ll see an increase in people being admitted to hospital. And then almost certainly the deaths will pick up after that. This is a desperate situation.’
Moreover, despite admissions rising in early September, the website Staista reveals deaths involving Covid-19 have been within a range of 13 to 76 per day now for the past fortnight, averaging 47 per day. That compares with 25 per day on average in the previous fortnight. Nevertheless, the Daily Telegraph reports that influenza and pneumonia are still currently more deadly than Covid-19.
The Office for National Statistics reports weekly on deaths in England and Wales. In the week to 26th September, 1,376 people died on average each day. Deaths associated with Covid-19 are fewer than 3.5% of all deaths. Deaths from cancer are normally 450 per day in the UK.
Ask your MP how much the Government measures have cost and are costing the United Kingdom per Covid-19 death. How does that compare with how much they have spent combating cancer per cancer death?
Figures of infections and hospital admissions have kept rising in their areas, they point out. Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer agreed with them. Professor John Edmunds, who sits on the scientific advisory group for emergencies (SAGE), also agreed local measures had failed. His answer? ‘New national restrictions are needed immediately’.
“We need to take much more stringent measures, not just in the north of England, we need to do it countrywide, and bring the epidemic back under control,” he said
‘Bring it under control’
In an article headed ‘The truth about England’s second wave of COVID-19,’ the Daily Mail suggests ‘the South of England faces panic and possible new lockdown rules based on situation hundreds of miles away.’ Suggesting possible unrest if London and the south were ‘punished’ for the alleged misdeeds of the north, it goes on: ‘Hospitalisations are 6% of peak levels in the South but 30% in the North and deaths have flattened in all but the North West, North East and the Midlands.’
But we are hearing all over the place right now, on BBC news this lunchtime, for example, that the Virus is ‘out of control’. On its website, the BBC reports Government minister Gillian Keegan MP complaining ‘Coronavirus is “getting out of control” in the north of England’. Naturally, she was defending as yet unspecified ‘government plans to bring in new restrictions’.
Implicit in all this talk is a vainglorious idea that by human intervention the virus can be brought ‘under control’, even that it is an outrage that it refuses to be ‘controlled’.
One could be forgiven for bringing to mind the image of King Cnut enthroned on the sea shore commanding the tide to stop coming in. The plain truth is, no matter what they do, the virus will run its course, it isn’t that serious for most of the population, and doctors are better at treating it now anyway. The latter point also suggests that perhaps as many as two-thirds of those who lost their lives between March and May died unnecessarily, but none of the media have picked up on that aspect yet.
President backs Declaration
Also today, President Trump has backed a scientists’ anti-lockdown statement. The Great Barrington Declaration was co-authored by the distinguished Dr. Martin Kulldorff, professor of medicine at Harvard University, Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, professor at Stanford University Medical School and our own Dr. Sunetra Gupta, professor at Oxford University. It has to date also been signed by 5,521 Medical & Public Health Scientists, 11,140 Medical Practitioners and 153,644 members of the General Public. You too can sign it!
The Declaration says: ‘Coming from both the left and right, and around the world, we have devoted our careers to protecting people. Current lockdown policies are producing devastating effects on short and long-term public health. The results (to name a few) include lower childhood vaccination rates, worsening cardiovascular disease outcomes, fewer cancer screenings and deteriorating mental health – leading to greater excess mortality in years to come, with the working class and younger members of society carrying the heaviest burden. Keeping students out of school is a grave injustice.
‘Keeping these measures in place until a vaccine is available will cause irreparable damage, with the underprivileged disproportionately harmed.’ They go on to observe that every society will build up ‘herd immunity’ but this cannot depend upon a vaccine.
‘The most compassionate approach that balances the risks and benefits of reaching herd immunity, is to allow those who are at minimal risk of death to live their lives normally to build up immunity to the virus through natural infection, while better protecting those who are at highest risk. We call this Focused Protection.’
Vaccine doctors criticise Declaration
Naturally, the Great Barrington Declaration was soon criticised. The BBC reported on this article in Science Media Centre. It was entitled ‘expert reaction to Barrington Declaration…’ No fewer than seven academics took aim at the Declaration. Five of them argued specifically for vaccines rather than herd immunity to inoculate the population. The remaining two cast doubt on herd immunity anyway:
One of them, Prof Jeremy Rossman, from the University of Kent, said ‘We still do not know if herd immunity is possible to achieve. Herd immunity relies on lasting immunological protection from coronavirus re-infection; however, we have heard many recent cases of re-infection occurring and some research suggests protective antibody responses may decay rapidly.’ One would expect an expert in virology to know about T-cells, but there we are.
The Science Media exists ‘to pass on to journalists as much accurate information as we can’. It aims to be a ‘fact-checker’ website. Its funding page reveals its main sources of funding come from vaccine manufacturers. The chief provider of funds, more than £30,000 per annum, is the Wellcome Trust. The director of the Wellcome Trust is Sir Jeremy James Fairer OBE FRCP FRS FmedSci, who also sits on the Government lockdown-advocating SAGE group. Its website says: ‘Wellcome is supporting the development of new vaccines and enabling better and broader use of the vaccines that already exist.’
Three vaccine manufacturers contribute between £10,000 and £19,999. They are AstraZeneca, Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD) Limited and Sanofi. A fourth, GlaskoSmithKline (GSK), stumps up between £20,000 and £30,000.
Long Covid
You may have heard Health Secretary Matt Hancock talking about the terrors of ‘Long Covid’. The Evening Standard reported him back in September trying to scare young people with this new bogey-man. Speaking on LBC radio, Mr Hancock said: “Long Covid, where people six months on are still ill, is prevalent among younger people.” And of course there a scientist on hand to back him up. Professor Tim Spector is leading the ‘Covid Symptom Study app’. He said around 300,000 people have reported symptoms lasting for more than a month and up to 60,000 people have been ill for more than three months.
However, an article in the Telegraph admits ‘Long Covid’ is ‘rarer than you think’. Only 2% are poorly at three months. (Which figure would mean Prof Spector believes some 3 million of us have contracted Covid-19.) Moreover, this is what happens with viruses. Some linger on, but the overwhelming majority get better quickly (like President Trump).
Prof Frances Williams at Kings College London has been studying the data behind Prof Spector’s app. ‘This is absolutely the message we should give: a small proportion have symptoms at 13 weeks, but really pretty much everybody is better by then,’ said Dr Williams.
So why is Mr Hancock making so much of the alleged dangers of ‘Long Covid’? It’s because ordinary Covid is not scary enough any more.
Lockdown cost lives
The Daily Telegraph reported two days ago on a report in the BMJ. Researchers from Edinburgh University have reassessed the Imperial College modelling that showed half a million people would die without lockdown. On the contrary, ‘Herd immunity could have saved more lives than lockdown.’
The report goes on: ‘In a study published in the BMJ, Edinburgh University predicted that over the entire course of the pandemic, keeping children out of classrooms would increase deaths by between 80,000 and 95,000. Likewise, social distancing of everyone, rather than just the over-70s, could cost between 149,000 and 178,000 lives.’ Preventing children and young people from mingling may have had the counterintuitive effect of actually killing more people.
‘The authors of the new paper, who rediscovered the figures in their reappraisal, said the Government appeared to have chosen to protect the NHS in the short term, rather than save lives throughout the whole epidemic. Although it reduced peak demand for ICU beds, it prolonged the epidemic, resulting in more long-term Covid-19 deaths.’
‘Lead author Graeme Ackland, Professor of computer simulation at the University of Edinburgh, said: “In March the Government had to make a decision: did they want to save lives or beds?
‘”Lockdown does mean that the number of deaths goes down, so there is a short-term gain, but it leads to long-term pain. If you had done nothing, it would all be over by now. It would have been absolutely horrendous but it would be over. It wouldn’t even have been completely lunatic to do nothing”.’ In fact countries which did nothing, like Belarus and Tanzania, have had better outcomes than the UK.
Why aren’t they listening?
In the face of all this, why do the Government persist with pointless, counter-productive lockdowns, restrictions and ‘interventions? Why can we not all get back to normal and live with a not-particularly-deadly respiratory disease?
Scientists are saying ‘measures such as the rule of six and the 10pm curfew are not working and should be scrapped.’ Yet: ‘Mr Johnson has no intention of loosening controls and is prepared to tighten them.’ Disappointingly, the ‘Rule-of-six’ measure sailed through the Commons last week as Labour abstained. However, MPs should get to vote on the curfew next week. Sir Keir has called for the scientific evidence for it. He knows there isn’t any. Pray his party opposes the measure.
Britain is destroyed
As the Telegraph points out: ‘The Government’s stated strategy is to suppress the virus through social controls until a vaccine becomes available.’ Even before the Government vaccine supremo admitted than not even 50% of us would be offered the vaccine, that position was just not tenable.
The paper concludes: ‘The immense health, economic, social and cultural harm being caused by the current strategy without arresting the spread of the disease demands a rethink before the damage becomes irreparable.’ It may already be:

Seven hundred Christian ministers have written an open letter to the Prime Minister and First Ministers of the devolved assemblies demanding freedom of worship and liberty to get on with life.
It echoes that written by Professors Sunetra Gupta, Carl Heneghan and Karol Sikora last week. The learned professors and dozens of their colleagues called for ‘targeted measures that protect the most vulnerable from Covid, whilst not adversely impacting those not at risk.’
The pastors ‘call upon the Westminster and devolved governments to find ways of protecting those who truly are vulnerable to Covid-19 without unnecessary and authoritarian restrictions on loving families, essential personal relationships, and the worship of the Christian Church.’
The Christian ministers say they have ‘carefully followed government guidance’ on Coronavirus and “entirely support proportionate measures to protect those most vulnerable to SARS-CoV-2.” But they ‘question whether the UK Government and the devolved administrations have it in their power either to eliminate this virus or to suppress it for an indefinite period while we await a vaccine. And we cannot support attempts to achieve these which, in our view, cause more damage to people, families and society – physically and spiritually – than the virus itself.’.
Once, again, that was what the doctors said: ‘The unstated objective currently appears to be one of suppression of the virus, until such a time that a vaccine can be deployed. This objective is increasingly unfeasible (notwithstanding our more specific concerns regarding existing policies) and is leading to significant harm across all age groups, which likely offsets any benefits.’ Even MPs are now asking when and how‘Protect the NHS’ morphed into ‘Suppress the virus until we have a vaccine’.
Life in all its fullness
The lead signatories are Rev A Paul Levy, Minister, Ealing International Presbyterian Church, London, Rev David M Gobbett, Lead Minister, Highfields Church Cardiff, Wales, Rev Dr William JU Philip, Minister, The Tron Church, Glasgow, Scotland, Rev David Johnston, Minister Emeritus – Presbyterian Church in Ireland and Rev Dr Matthew PW Roberts, Minister, Trinity Church York, England. They say:
‘Our God-given task as Christian ministers and leaders is to point people to Jesus Christ, who said he came to bring ‘life in all its fullness’. Therefore we are troubled by policies which prioritise bare existence at the expense of those things that give quality, meaning and purpose to life. Increasingly severe restrictions are having a powerful dehumanising effect on people’s lives, resulting in a growing wave of loneliness, anxiety and damaged mental health. This particularly affects the disadvantaged and vulnerable in our society, even as it erodes precious freedoms for all. In our churches, many have been working tirelessly to provide help to those most affected.’
The Bible verse they cite is this one: John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (KJV)
See thy children’s children
Both the doctors and the pastors speak of proportionate or ‘targeted’ measures to protect the most vulnerable. This ministry has called for the same approach. But the sense of the pastors’ letter is that life cooped up in a care home, forbidden any visits from spouse or relatives, or grandparents denied by social distancing or ‘rule-of-six’ the pleasure of hugging their grandchildren, is no life at all.
People must be free to decide whether to ‘put themselves at risk’ in order to live the sort of life our gracious Lord expects us to live The Bible describes grandchildren as ‘the crown’ of their grandparents in Proverbs 17:6, while the psalmist says:
Psalm 128:6 Yea, thou shalt see thy children’s children, and peace upon Israel.
If anyone argues those ‘vulnerable’ to the virus are thereby putting an unwarranted burden on the NHS, we can point out that those who play contact sports, or go downhill racing or base-jumping do the same. That is not even to mention those who drive too fast or drink to excess or smoke. In fact, the cruel science of ‘health economics’ might even welcome someone who dies earlier than they might and forgoes some years of their state pension.
Public worship ‘essential’
Early on, governments took it upon themselves to decide which industries were ‘essential’ and which were not. The pastors cleverly employ this language:
‘The public worship of the Christian church is particularly essential for our nation’s wellbeing. As we live in the shadow of a virus we are unable to control, people urgently need the opportunity to hear and experience the good news and hope of Jesus Christ, who holds our lives in his hands. The supportive relationships that churches nurture between people are vital, and simply cannot be dispensed with again without significant harm. And most of all, we know that regular gathering to worship God is essential for human life to be lived to the full.’
Defy orders to shut
Oppressive: Helen Whately MP
Over the weekend, we have heard from Government ministers – Care Minister Helen Whately MP and Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden MP. Both threatened the public and incarcerated students with more oppressive measures if we and they do not obey the rules such that infections, which they duplicitously call ‘cases’, rise more than some arbitrary figure. How dare they?
Although a majority of the public are still gripped by Project Fear, we pray the tide may be turning. Conservative MPs intend to call the Government to account on Wednesday. The letters from the professors last week and from the church ministers this weekend mark a change of tone.
Writing in ‘The Critic’, David Scullion comments: ‘The letter has been signed by ministers of several denominations in all four parts of the UK and is a strong hint that Christians in Great Britain and Northern Ireland, who up to now have acquiesced to coronavirus legislation, may defy a future instruction to shut their doors.’
Example of the Apostles
Comments from one of the authors of the letter lend weight to that view. Rev. Dave Gobbett, Minister of Highfields Church in Cardiff, said:
‘The government is in an impossibly difficult situation, seeking to balance competing needs within society, but we wanted to show how vitally important it is that churches remain open. Christians live in a tension between being called to obey our governing authorities on the one hand, and realising that our final authority is God, on the other. Certainly in the book of Acts we see the apostles continuing to preach the gospel even when they have been ordered to stop. Ultimately we answer to God and not the state.’
Acts 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

Health Secretary Rt Hon Matt Hancock misled the public.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock was interviewed by Julia Hartley-Brewer on TalkRadio on Thursday 17th September. The video is HERE.
Julia H-B asked him if there was going to be another national lockdown for two weeks in October.
This is what Mr Hancock said: ‘It is a very serious moment. The virus is clearly accelerating. Unfortunately, the number of people in hospital has doubled every eight days in the last few weeks.’
Really, Secretary of State?
Here is what Toby Young said two days later on Lockdown Sceptics: ‘If you go to the Government’s COVID-19 dashboard and look at the data for daily Covid admissions to English hospitals (see below), it increased from 143 to 199 in the eight-day period to September 17th, the day Hancock was speaking. That’s not ‘doubling’. What about daily admissions for the whole of the UK? It increased from 196 on Sept 10th to 241 on Sept 17th. Again, not “doubling”.
‘What about the last few weeks? Let’s go back 32 days from September 17th (4 x 8), which takes us to August 17th. There were 46 Covid admissions to English hospitals that day, according to the dashboard. If that figure doubled every eight days in the period leading up to September 17th, it would have reached 96 at the end of the first eight days, 184 at the end of the second, 368 at the end of the third and 736 at the end of the fourth. In fact, the number on the 17th was 199.
Ditto for the whole of the UK. On August 17th, that number was 96. If that doubled every eight days, the total on September 17th would have been 1,536. In fact, it was 241.’
He goes on: ‘Either Matt Hancock is looking at different data to that on the Government’s COVID-19 dashboard, or…’
How Matt Hancock did it
I can now reveal the clever illusionist trick Matt Hancock used to both make his claim and stay (almost) on the right side of the truth. Firstly, he only took the figures for new admissions to hospitals in England. The other nations spoil the claim. In Wales in particular, the figure for new admissions has bobbed around 40, 50, 60 since the middle of July. Here are the figures for England:
Firstly, he takes the figure for 17/09 of 199 and then goes nine days back to 08/09 when it was 99. That’s doubled. Or he could cite the figure for 15/09 and go back eight days to 07/09 which was 84. That’s more than doubled.
Secondly, he takes the figure for 08/09 of 99 and goes back eight days to 31/08 when it was 52. Almost double. Or he can use 09/09 which was 136 and compare with 01/09: 58. More than doubled.
Thirdly, he seizes the anomalous figure of 25 on 22/08 and goes forward seven days to 29/08 or nine days to 31/08. On both those days it was 52. Doubled. Or he can have 28/08 which is 44 and go forward eight days to 05/09 when it was 94. There: More than doubled.
That is all true, more or less. But if we are honest, we start from the same figures and concede new admissions were around 50 on the 17th or 18th of August, and four and a half weeks later on 16th or 17th September they were nearing 200. So the greater truth, the real not-quite-so-scary truth, is that they were doubling, in England only, every fifteen days or so, not every eight days as Mr Hancock claimed.
Truth is fallen
We are in a dangerous place as a nation when we cannot trust Ministers of the Crown to tell us the truth. Equally, where HM Ministers do not trust the public to make their own decisions based on reality but must be duped by falsehood into compliance with unlawful diktats.
Isaiah 59:14 And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.
Mr Hancock was appointed to be Her Majesty’s Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. He has damaged the nation’s health through his lockdown, sent death into care homes and paralysed the NHS. He must believe he is Her Majesty’s Secretary of State for eliminating infections of coronavirus. In such a role he thinks he has permission to mislead and bully the public for the greater good. But the word of God says:
Psalm 52:3 Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness.
As the BBC reports: ‘Hancock: “Follow Covid rules or they will get tougher”.’

Project Fear on Steroids

Mr Hancock seems to given a cue to Government advisors to ramp up Project Fear.
The BBC reports on the headline claim from the government’s chief scientific adviser, Sir Patrick Vallance, of ‘50,000 cases of Covid-19′ in two or three weeks’ time.
It goes on: ‘Speaking at Downing Street alongside chief medical adviser, Prof Chris Whitty, Sir Patrick stressed the figures given were not a prediction, but added: “At the moment we think the epidemic is doubling roughly every seven days. If, and that’s quite a big if, but if that continues unabated, and this grows, doubling every seven days… if that continued you would end up with something like 50,000 cases in the middle of October per day”.
‘”Fifty-thousand cases per day would be expected to lead a month later, so the middle of November say, to 200-plus deaths per day”.’
Professor Chris Whitty, Chief Medical Officer for England
Chris Whitty also said the UK “risks 200 coronavirus deaths a day”. … Prof Whitty said there was a “very difficult balance” to be struck between preventing the NHS from being “overwhelmed by a huge spike” in cases and a second economic lockdown that could cause unemployment, poverty and deprivation, outcomes which would bring their own “long-term health effects”.’
Oh, he’s noticed. He claims ‘he extraordinary efforts of the population” stopped ‘the NHS and emergency services’ being ‘overwhelmed by a huge spike’, ‘in the first wave’. No, they didn’t. There was exactly that huge spike in deaths, many of which came about because of inappropriate treatment such as intubation and ventilation.
At the end of last week, hospitals across the UK were being told to clear beds and brace themselves for an influx of Covid patients in two weeks’ time. In two weeks’ time we shall see.
But this from Prof Whitty is priceless: ‘If the NHS is having to spend a large proportion of its efforts in trying to treat COVID cases, it will lead to a reduction in treatment for other areas such as early diagnoses for disease and for prevention programmes.’
That is exactly what lockdown achieved: Cancelled operations, missed disagnoses, people dying at home because they were afraid to call 999 or go to A&E. Cancer treatment in particuilar is now in crisis. People are dying precisely because of his lockdown.
Covid-19 out of the top twenty
Embarrassingly for the Governmentthe Daily Mail reports that Covid-19 has fallen from being the leading cause of death in the UK in April to lying in 24th place in August. One third of all deaths in April were attributed to the disease. Today it’s 1.4%. The paper reports:
‘Covid-19 was to blame for a third of all deaths in April. It was still the third most common way to die in June and remained in the top 10 in July. But it has dropped massively down the table over the summer, despite Britain still living under restrictions designed to curb the spread of the virus.
‘ONS data also shows fewer people died of any cause in August since 2000, when records began. A total of 746 deaths were registered for every 100,000 people last month, more than half of the 1,859 in April – the highest on record.
‘Experts say that because the coronavirus is the most severe in vulnerable people, deaths were “front loaded” to the start of 2020 when the elderly and people with underlying conditions caught it.’
Real figures from the ONS
In plain figures, the Office for National Statistics reports: ‘The number of deaths registered in England and Wales in the week ending 11 September 2020 (Week 37) was 9,811; this was 2,072 deaths higher than in Week 36.
‘In Week 37, the number of deaths registered was 5.4% above the five-year average (505 deaths higher).
‘Of the deaths registered in Week 37, 99 mentioned “novel coronavirus (COVID-19)”, accounting for 1.0% of all deaths in England and Wales.
‘This is the second lowest number of deaths involving COVID-19 since Week 12; this is an increase of 21 deaths compared with Week 36 (26.9% increase).’
Doing the maths
Looked at in the light of the real figures, even Chris Whitty’s scary ‘200 Covid deaths a day’ is not as huge a rise as he pretends. The ONS reports a week in which deaths from all causes were 2,000 higher than the week before.
Cases of Covid or just infections? Either way, the projection is at best speculative and at worst fear-mongering.
The graph the duo presented carried the current levels of supposed ‘infections’.
These included all their false positives.
In addition, they showed a down-turn in the previous few days.
Sir Patrick’s ‘50,000 cases’, really meant ‘infections’. If it were cases, then there would be ten times that, 500,000, actual infections. Factor in the false positives, and 5,000,000 would be testing positive per day. The Mail reports that the percentage of positive tests is now 2.5%. 5 million testing positive per day equates to 40 times that number tested.
But 200,000,000 is three times the actual population of the UK. Perhaps he has made a small mathematical error, but he still believes the whole population is going to be tested every day, day after day? He must mean ‘infections’.
Figures don’t stack up
OK, suppose it really is 50,000 ‘cases’. The Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine estimates that the current Case Fatality Rate – The World Health Organisation tells us that’s the ‘proportion of deaths among identified confirmed cases’ – was 1.5% as recently as August. That would mean 750 deaths per day out of the pair’s 50,000 cases. That’s way higher even than the scary 200.
So their ‘cases’ might not be March-and-April-type cases.. We may be misleading ourselves with the CFR. Let us pump in some other figures we know. Infections and cases today are moving into lower age groups. Perhaps 10%, 5,000, will be in vulnerable age-groups or those with pre-existing morbidities. And of that 5,000, well, let’s assume half end up in hospital. That will be just over ten per week on average in every one of the UK’s 1660 hospitals.
That is 150 people. Furthermore, the Daily Telegraph tells us that death rates for Covid-19 in ICU’s have fallen by a third from 60% in March down to nearer 20% today. So out of Sir Patrick’s 50,000 ‘cases’ there may be fifteen deaths. That’s tragic, but it’s not 200, let alone 750. Alternatively, if the 50,000 were infections, not cases, its about ten deaths per week. Looked at any way you wish, the figures simply do not stack up.
Complete over-reaction
Courtesy Financial Times. What the graph does not show it that Spain has now topped off and infections there are declining. NOt that they made much impact on deaths from the ‘killer virus’.
Let’s work back from Profs Vallance and Whitty’s 200 deaths per day. That would mean 1,000 daily admissions to ICU, and 33,333 Covid-19 admissions to hospital. Clearly, out of 50,000 cases, even real cases, that is preposterous.
Above all, the experience of Sweden shows that even with a second bump in infections, deaths from Covid-19 continue on their relentless downward way.
The new lockdown measures, curfews, rules of this that or the other the Prime Minister and the national First Ministers announce today will be a complete and destructive over-reaction to a non-problem. Infections might continue up before turning on to a Sweden-style downward curve. Deaths will continue to fall. And in a month’s time the Prime Minister will announce, ‘There, you see, the measures we took, tough though they were, worked!’
It’s like the man who always carries a shotgun, he says, to ward off tigers. ‘But’, you protest, ‘there are no tigers around here.’ ‘There, you see!’ he replies.
Will the public stand for it?
According to The Sun, Boris Johnson himself claims a ‘second wave of coronavirus’ is “inevitable” amid ‘surging cases’. The ridiculous ‘Nightingale Hospitals’ are again on standby, and the new lockdown could last six months. And all this just a month or two after we were urged to ‘eat out to help out’ and days after workers started plodding back to their city-centre offices.
Will the public stand for it? That depends partly on whether a majority continue to fall for it. Writing in the Telegraph, Janet Daley asks ‘whether the total elimination of Covid is a realistic or essential goal’. She quotes Prof Whitty’s remark about one’s own decisions not to distance, wear a muzzle, etc, could ‘put others at risk’. She replies:
‘This might be true but, again, it misses the larger moral question of whether Government diktat should be permitted to deprive whole populations of what are usually regarded as unassailable liberties in order to protect a very small minority of people who might – or might not – be in danger of what might – or might not – be seriously illness.’
PRAY
Pray for a complete return to normailty and sanity, for our respective governments to lift all restrictions, masks, social distancing and let us all get on with providing for our families, socialising, singing praise in church and generally rebuilding life, society and the economy.

The Government want to distribute vaccines against Covid-19 which are unlicensed. They have issued a Consultation and invite responses by this Friday 18th September 2020.
After entering your details, the Consultation is very short. There are just five blocks in which you can place a response. They are headed: ‘Temporary authorisation of the supply of unlicensed products’ ‘Civil liability and immunity’ ‘Expansion to the workforce eligible to administer vaccinations’ ‘Vaccine promotion’ and ‘Provisions for wholesale dealing of vaccines’
The UK’s Regulator
Medicines are licensed in the UK by the Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). Furthermore, from 31st December the UK will be on its own and not subject to additional EU regulations on medicines.
Stephen Lighfoot, the new Chairman of the MHRA
The MHRA is a quango, an ‘executive agency’, of the Department of Health and Social Care.
The Government website says its chairman is Stephen Lightfoot. He succeeded Prof Sir Michael Rawlins GBE only this month. Sir Michael held the post for just under six years. MHRA chairmen seem always to be knighted after a year or two in the job.
Mr Lightfoot is an NHS insider. He says he wants MHRA to develop ‘new regulatory processes which are proportionate, evidence-based and transparent, so that patients can gain earlier and safer access to new medical products than ever before.’ That sounds good, so long as corners are not cut along the way. Maintaining a reasonable degree of public safety, as we read in the Bible’s book of Leviticus, is the responsibility of government.
From it, we see the new chairman, Mr Lightfoot himself, is a shareholder in giant vaccine manufacturer Glaxo Smith Kline. Two other members, Amanda Calvert and Anne-Toni Rodgers, are shareholders of AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, another huge vaccine manufacturer.
Big Pharma
The world has many manufacturers of vaccines. Here is a list of them. However, Glaxo Smith Kline is probably the biggest. It boasts on its website that it has teamed up with Sanofi to be selected to supply the United States Government with 100 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine under ‘Operation Warp Speed’.
Meanwhile, AstraZeneca is looking to Europe and the Far East. The BBC reports that AstraZeneca is planning to make two billion doses of a coronavirus vaccine. It’s CEO, Pascal Soriot, said manufacturing was beginning already because, ‘we want to be as fast as possible’.
The HQ of Chinese vaccine firm BioKangtai, now teamed up with AstraZeneca.
Fierce Pharma reports AstraZeneca has done a deal ‘with Chinese firm BioKangtai to help provide its adenovirus vector-based COVID-19 vaccine candidate’. This is the vaccine ‘created by the University of Oxford’. That’s the vaccine whose study was recently temporarily put on hold owing to an ‘adverse reaction.’
AstraZeneca themselves claim to be about to ‘supply Europe with up to 400 million doses of Oxford University’s vaccine at no profit.’
Consultation Introduction
Turning to the Consultation , we’ll first look at its introduction. It starts by claiming: ‘COVID-19 is the biggest threat this country has faced in peacetime history…’
No, it isn’t. We have had worse post-war influenza epidemics. But certainly the absurd, destructive lockdown has been the biggest threat this country has faced not just in peacetime history but for over 300 years. It goes on:
‘… the UK government is working to a scientifically led…’ Hollow laugh.
‘… step-by-step action plan …’ Lurching from one incoherent decision to another.
‘… for tackling the pandemic …’ The UK epidemic has been over since May.
‘… taking the right measures at the right time …’ Like the ‘Rule of Six’?
And then: ‘Effective COVID-19 vaccines will be the best way to deal with the pandemic.’
We disagree. Building up immunity in the population will be the best way. In fact it may be just that happening which has spooked the vaccine enthusiasts. That’s because if the efforts of the younger element succeed in developing collective immunity we won’t need the vaccine. The epidemic is over. It could soon be all over for the vaccine too. And then millions of pounds of research money will have been poured down the drain.
Rigorous
‘Any vaccine must first go through the usual rigorous testing and development process and be shown to meet the expected high standards of safety, quality and efficacy before it can be deployed.’
Bill Gates has invested billions in vaccines since year 2000 through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
It must simply be tested for the length of time they anticipate there could be problems. Vaccine supremo Bill Gates himself told BBC’s Nicky Campbell earlier this year that if you want to know a vaccine is safe against possible reactions for two years you test it for two years. Even then, you will never pick up the one-in-a hundred-thousand adverse reaction.
‘A temporary authorisation of the supply of an unlicensed vaccine could be given by the UK’s licensing authority under regulation 174 of the Human Medicines Regulations (see below). A COVID-19 vaccine would only be authorised in this way if the UK’s licensing authority was satisfied that there is sufficient evidence to demonstrate the safety, quality and efficacy of the vaccine. ‘Unlicensed’ does not mean ‘untested’,’ says the Government.
Another stupid decision
That is weird. Either the MHRA approve the vaccine or they don’t. If they are satisfied it’s safe and efficacious, what stops them licensing it? It’s an authority. It authorises a license. How long does that take? Can you imagine a meeting during which the MHRA board agree to ‘authorise’ a medicine rather than license it? So it’s not quite safe and efficacious enough for a license but we’ll put our name to it all the same?
The MHRA blog says: ‘new applications typically take 90 working days to process.’ But surely they don’t have to take that long. If it really is that urgent, why can they not send the inspectors around a bit quicker and then have a Zoom meeting?
Some of us won’t take this vaccine under any circumstances. But do the Government seriously believe anyone is going to take a vaccine which is unlicensed? Not only will folk be worried about the vaccine, but slackening off the rules will undermine public confidence in the whole regulatory framework. This has the makings of another very stupid decision.
Policy Objectives
These are the five headings in the Consultation to which you will be responding: You can follow our lead but put it into your own words.
Under the heading of ‘Policy Objectives’, the Government say: ‘1. … clarify our approach to a pre-existing provision (regulation 174) in the HMRs, that enables the licensing authority to temporarily authorise the supply of an unlicensed medicinal product for use in response to certain specific types of public health threat, including the suspected spread of pathogens.’
This is short-sighted and driven either by panic or vaccine vested interests. We say: No. Either license it or don’t. Do not invent a lesser category where a medicine may be ‘authorised’ but not ‘licensed’. That risks destroying public confidence in the whole framework for safety of medicines. Who will ever trust a medicine in the United Kingdom again? The vaccine should not be licensed unless it has been rigorously tested for two years. Meanwhile, any ‘public health threat’ from Covid-19 is vanishing day by day.
‘2. Clarify the scope of immunity from civil liability which regulation 345 of the HMRs puts in place for certain products whose unlicensed use is recommended by the licensing authority …’
The UK grants immunity to companies in return for the UK itself compensating those adversely affected by a vaccine. It doesn’t mean those adversely affected would not be compensated. Compensation is in another place. It’s the reverse side of the immunity coin. But clearly this all boils down to the licensing again. So we say The taxpayer must not pick up a compensation bill If companies are granted immunity for an unlicensed product.
More Policy Objectives
‘3. Ensure that the UK has the available workforce to administer the COVID-19 vaccine and influenza vaccine.’
This means hastily training up non-medical people to administer the vaccine – and indemnifying them if something goes wrong. The Government have convinced themselves that tens of thousands of needle-wielders will be needed to inject millions of us queuing up for the vaccine. In reality, demand for an unlicensed vaccine will be low, even before the anti-vaxxers get going (they will be barred from Facebook and Youtube of course.) We say: This is cutting corners and must not happen. Demand for the vaccine may well be lower than expected, especially as we build up collective immunity and the virus, like all SARS infections before it, peters out. An army of hastily-trained needle-wielders will not be required.
‘4. Ensure that the vaccines and treatments used in response to certain specific types of public health threat, such as a COVID-19 vaccine, can be promoted as part of national vaccination or treatment campaigns.’
Of course they will want a ‘national campaign’. The problem is, ‘Currently there is a prohibition on promoting an unlicensed medicine to healthcare professionals and the public.’ We say: The prohibition on promoting unlicensed medicines is quite right and must remain, to maintain public confidence in the safety of medicines.
‘5. Make short-term provisions for wholesale dealing of COVID-19 and flu vaccine …’
This seems to all about ensuring the NHS and / or armed services can move the vaccines around swiftly. But we may not have seen all the implications of it. We say: If the current system is there to maintain public safety and confidence, it must stay in place.
Nature of the consultation
They say: ‘1. Timing … having to move quickly means having less time than we would like to consult on these proposals – indeed, we are asking for comments by the end of Friday 18 September 2020.’
‘Therefore, please do not refrain from commenting simply because the official period for receiving comments is at an end. If you have something that you want to say about these proposals, the UK government wants to hear it.’
All the same, let us who are responding please try to keep to the official date.
2. Targeted discussions: ‘Even though we are happy to receive comments from anyone, the purpose of this consultation exercise is to engage directly with specific stakeholders that we have identified.’
Just who are these ‘stakeholders?’ Don’t you and I have a stake in this nation? How do you become a ‘specific stakeholder?’
Conclusions
But seriously, if you are a complete anti-vaxxer, it might be wise not to say that. After all, the opinion of those who won’t take the vaccine anyway is of little value to the Government here. Concentrate on how this proposal will undermine public confidence in the whole regulatory regime.
Proverbs 12:23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.
Furthermore, if you are really stuck, and in any case, pray and then respond from the heart:
James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Just as you thought that maybe the Lord had begun to lift the spirit of stupidity with which he appears to have afflicted our various Governments in the UK, along comes another decision even more stupid than the rest, the irrational, oppressive ‘Rule of 6′.
The UK’s public-spirited young people went out to build up the population’s Covid-19 immunity on Friday and Saturday. Some may have celebrated their last weekend of modest freedom rather too enthusiastically, but what did the Government expect? Naturally, the police and officials were out on the streets looking out for breaches of social distancing.
The fun police even evicted patrons from a pub in Carmarthen because too many people were enjoying themselves. The Licensing Authority then slapped a 48-hour closing order on the Golden Lion in Lammas Street. More about that HERE.
Wales Online reports ‘the same punishment’ was meted out to the Railway Inn in Ammanford together with Ammanford and District Miners Welfare Club. Seriously. The Miners’ Club.
The hospitality trade
Deserted streets on Sunday evening.
But on Sunday evening an eerie calm descended. Streets were deserted, hostelries empty.
We celebrate that during the Revival in Wales, pubs closed because their regulars were found in church.
But all the same, everyone has to earn a living. Public houses provide a place to meet up and socialise. Bar staff need – and deserve – their wages. For the Government to deprive them of their money is a sin which cries to heaven.
Moreover, the hospitality trade is ancient. Joseph’s brothers discovered their returned money in an inn as recorded in Gen 42:27. In the New Testament, our Lord’s Good Samaritan in Luke 10:34 took the man who had been beaten up and robbed to an inn. He would have found such altruism banned in the UK for three months of this year. In a third reference, although it was the brethren rather than the taverns who (not ‘which’!) encouraged the Apostle Paul, nevertheless, the Bible refers once again to a thriving hospitality sector at a staging post on the road to Rome:
Acts 28:15 And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and the three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.
Be good children

Returning to the new and arbitrary ‘Rule’, the Institute for Government explains that no more than six people can congregate indoors, and even outdoors in England. So if there are more of you than six, you have to separate into groups of six, a bit like we Christians used to do in some of our larger prayer meetings. It’s groups of thirty allowed outside in Wales, fifteen in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Furthermore, in Scotland and Wales, children under 12 are exempt from the rule. But not in England, or in Northern Ireland, unless I am very much mistaken.
According to the BBC, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps MP said if everybody follows the rules ‘we may well be by Christmas in a position to look at it again’. So if you are good children you might be able to have both pairs of grandparents over for Christmas dinner. But if not, and if you already have three or more children in England, you won’t see any of them. And you can have Auntie Dora, but not Uncle Clive.
Terrified of the R-number
Boris and the rest of the Government have it seems taken fright of the ‘R-number’. This is the number of new people infected by any one already-infected person. Interviewed on LBC, Mr Shapps didn’t know the figure for the dreaded ‘R-number’, except that it was ‘above one and we won’t be able to let up unless we can get it below.’
He evidently doesn’t realise that the majority of those now being reported as ‘cases’ are just asymptomatic ‘infections’ with a good deal of false positives mixed in. If you go to the doctor (that’s if you actually could go to the doctor) and said you had an infection but no symptoms, the doctor would not record you as a ‘case’. Well, he might think you were a nut-case.

Added to that, Birmingham is the latest city to fall victim to the ‘local lockdown’ sweepstake. An area with a combined population of more than 1.6 million people is affected. From tomorrow, Tuesday, separate households will not be able to mix in homes or private gardens. The restrictions will not affect schools, workplaces or public transport. No expiry time has been set. Once more, this is because of a ‘spike in cases’. Furthermore, all the new ‘Rule of 6′ regulations will apply.
And why? A rise in ‘cases’ or rather, infections, which as the chart shows, have shifted and are now seen in a much younger demographic than in March and April.
Seek and you will find
The Telegraph reports: ‘The World Health Organization (WHO) expects Europe to see a rise in the daily number of Covid-19 deaths in October and November, the head of the body’s European branch has said.
‘More than 51,000 new cases were reported on Friday alone in the 55 countries monitored by WHO Europe, which is more than the highest peak in April, according to the organisation.’
Well, of course it is! In April, only those going in to hospital with symptoms were being tested. Now, countries are testing hundreds of thousands of Toms, Dicks and Harrys. If you go looking for it, you will find it. The words of our Lord do not just refer to the Kingdom of heaven:
Matt 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Swedes and Phillipines not bothered
Clearly the phlegmatic Swedes do not regard anything happening in the UK as a cause for concern. The Telegraph also reports:
‘Sweden has taken Britain off its red list of countries it advises citizens not to travel to, despite an uptick in new coronavirus cases and restrictions on public gatherings.’
And of course the UK has taken Sweden off its quarantine list. The list of countries is arbitrary and ridiculous anyway. People’s holidays have been curtailed, the travel sector ruined, because host countries were doing too much testing and finding consequent ‘positives’. However, Sweden’s refusal to do lockdown has brought the benefit of almost full immunity in the population. There’s little call for a vaccine in Sweden.
Meanwhile, in the Philippines, social distancing is cut to 30 centimetres on public transport. That’s under a foot. Moreover, it comes despite 259 new confirmed deaths, a record for the second time in three days. Total fatalities have increased to 4,630, while infections have doubled in the past 35 days to 265,888, Southeast Asia’s highest number. Anthony Leachon, ex-president of the Philippine College of Physicians, thinks it’s ‘risky, reckless and counter-intuitive and will delay the flattening of the curve.’ In reality the virus just runs its course everywhere, no matter what governments do.
The False Prophet Speaks
False Prophet Professor Neil Ferguson
One would think Professor Neil Ferguson would be lying low, possibly with his married mistress, not because of his previous failed predictions on foot and mouth and swine flu, but because he ‘broke the lockdown’ knowing full well he was immune after catching the Covid. We reported that here.
However, BBC’s Today programme regard the false prophet of doom as an oracle.
‘And then if that is not sufficient to bring the reproduction number below one so the epidemic starts shrinking again, then yes, we may need to clamp down in other areas.’
Clamp down? For how long will the British people put up with this despotism?
False sense of insecurity
The media can of course find plenty of other epidemiologists and public health people keen to spread a false sense of insecurity. The Telegraph reports here on highly-specific doom-laden predictions from one Dr John Ashton. He used to be president of the UK Faculty of Public Health.
Dr Ashton told Sky News: ‘We’re seeing day on day now about 3,000 reported new cases. We feel as though it’s back in March,’ he said.
The former north west regional director of Public Health was not finished. He went on: ‘In a week’s time you’ll get people getting sicker, in two to three weeks’ time we’ll see an increase in people being admitted to hospital. And then almost certainly the deaths will pick up after that. This is a desperate situation.’
Is it ‘desperate’? We must remember to come back in two to three weeks time to check there was hardly any increase in hospital admissions. ‘Back in March’ one, then two, then three hundred people per day were dying from – or ‘with’ – Covid-19. Today, it’s single figures. Pace Dr Ashton, ‘almost certainly’ deaths will not ‘pick up’ to anything like those levels.
Look across the Channel
Professor Sir Mark Walport – spooked by looking across the Channel.
Professor Peter Openshaw (of Imperial College) intones that the public must ‘act fast’ and fall into line with ‘Rule of Six’ or face a second lockdown. If you invented a character like that in a book, no-one would believe it.
Here is another one. The excellent Lockdown Sceptics website quotes Professor Sir Mark Walport who is on the SAGE committee. He warns the UK is ‘on the edge of losing control’ of the rise in infections. So what? Well, apparently losing control of is scary.
‘You’ve only got to look across the Channel to see what is happening in France and what’s happening in Spain,’ says Professor Walport. ‘The only way to stop the spread of this infection is to reduce the number of people we all come into contact with.’ Excuse me, what is the point of living?
What’s happening in France and Spain?
So what’s happening in France and Spain? Just like us, there is a huge rise in positive tests, and little else. ‘Hospitals in some areas such as Madrid have seen a gentle rise in COVID-19 admissions, but nothing they can’t handle or to indicate runaway growth like in March,’ says Will Jones of Lockdown Sceptics.
You would expect Christian Voice to look at the figures, and that’s what we’ve done.
The France Coronatracker shows Covid-19 deaths there running just under a fairly constant 30 per day. To put that in perspective, in 2018, deaths in France from cancer averaged out at 431 per day. Deaths from all causes were 1,647 per day.
The Spain Coronatracker shows Covid-19 deaths there running just under a fairly constant 50 per day. That’s more than in France. But again, in comes the perspective. In 2018, deaths in Spain from cardio-vascular disease averaged out at 395 per day. All deaths was 1,172 per day.
Prof Walport can read. No doubt he even manages to navigate the Internet. So why would he, and all these experts, who advise the Government, pretend that ‘what’s happening’ in France or Spain is cause for anything other than a shrug and a reason to lift all lockdown, scrap ‘social distancing’ and get back to normal? Why?
Has the Lord sent them all a lying spirit like the one Prophet Micaiah accused Ahab’s prophets of having?
1Kings 22:23 Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.
Well, if you can think of a more plausible reason …
Lockdown causes Covid deaths
The UK has recorded 41,628 deaths from, or ‘with’ Covid-19 to date. (Just a few weeks ago the figure was over 46,000. It had to be revised downward after the redoubtable Dr Carl Heneghan found it was recording as a Covid death anyone who had an infection and recovered.) Our population is 66.65 million. So 0.06245% of us have died. It’s 625 deaths per million. That’s in the ball-park. 0.9% or thereabouts – 900 per million – is now reckoned the upper limit of deaths.
Peru, says Mr Jones, ‘is currently the worst hit with 925 deaths per million (even though it has the world’s most severe lockdown), while most others are well below that.’
Health Secretary Rt Hon Matt Hancock has decisions to make. We must pray for wisdom to avert even more economic disaster.
We know lockdown has caused tens of thousands of collateral deaths. In the UK cancelled operations and scans have resulted in a death toll beginning to be measured in tens of thousands. The ‘fantastic’ NHS, which we were supposed to ‘protect’ and applaud every Thursday, has, under hapless Health Secretary Matt Hancock MP, let the nation down in a spectacular fashion.
Moreover, lockdown has brought and will bring yet more starvation upon millions in Africa, where governments stupidly thought the West knew best.
But perhaps lockdown itself exacerbated deaths from the very thing it was supposed to prevent. If so, not only has lockdown across the world destroyed people’s lives, livelihoods, reasonable expectations and legitimate ambitions, but it has failed its own test.
It’s over, Matt Hancock
Even now, according to the Standard, Tory Policing Minister Kit Malthouse has suggested people should snitch on neighbours who break the new rules by ringing the non-emergency police number 111. Come on, man, it’s serious. Why not 999?
Meanwhile, Matt Hancock has completely lost the plot of his brief. It’s to safeguard the nation’s health, not to eliminate infections among the young of a now fairly innocuous virus in Solihull. Can he bring himself to admit ‘It’s over’?
In Sweden, a spectacular rise in infections has made no impact on Covid-19 deaths. Deaths in black, infections in red. Year 2020 to date
Sweden trusted their people. They relied exclusively on voluntary measures. There was no ‘lockdown’. And the chart from Sweden shows how ‘cases’ (probably just ‘infections’) shot up in June and July and made no subsequent impact on deaths whatsoever.
Trapped in a lie
Writing in the Mail on Sunday in his usual highly-readable acerbic style, Peter Hitchens suggests Boris Johnson has been trapped in a lie. There was never a need for a lockdown, but he was spooked by Neil Ferguson’s talk of half-a-million deaths. Having bought the lie, he had to terrify the population to make a majority accept it But now he cannot get out of it, because that would involve an admission he was wrong. In turn that would rely on wisdom, honesty and humility. Mr Hitchens is not convinced Mr Johnson is overly blessed with any of them.
But let us pray nevertheless that the Lord would send our Prime Minister that wisdom which comes from the fear of the Lord. Pray he will simply lift all restrictions and start the job of rebuilding this United Kingdom.
The nation of Judah under Rehoboam was devastated by raids from Egypt. They ended up, as we should say today, bankrupt. But the king and his cabinet humbled themselves, and sought the Lord. The Lord heard and ended the oppression. Then bit by bit the prosperity returned:
2Chron 12:12 And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him, that he would not destroy him altogether: and also in Judah things went well.

It is instructive when the Christian Voice Lamplight Bible Reading Plan takes us through the Bible’s books of First and Second Kings and Second Chronicles.
There are massive lessons in these ancient history books for us today. If the politics of king David’s court in the books of Samuel and First Chronicles were not thrilling enough, we moved on to Solomon and his successors.
SOLOMON
It was tragic to see that Solomon started so well and then fell far away. The author of Chronicles in particular, believed to be Ezra the scribe, is at pains to show us that obedience to the laws of God results in spiritual blessings which are manifested in economic success. Solomon began by following the ways of the Lord, and brought great prosperity on his people as a result. But his many wives led him astray, we read, to the extent that he even enacted human sacrifice :
1Ki 11:6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father. 7 Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.
It appeared the people were prepared to put up with the high taxation Solomon needed for his various projects, not least building the temple, so long as they felt they were part of something big and blessed. But when Solomon went away from the Lord, wars broke out with Edom and Syria and the economy must have come under strain. These latter days seem to be when the grumbling started. The Bible states:
Prov 29:2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
‘BE A SERVANT KING’
The people seem to have cut the son of David some slack in his years of physical and spiritual decline, but when Solomon died, they decided they had had enough. They called upon Solomon’s successor Rehoboam for a reduction in the tax burden. Rehoboam first consulted the old men who had served his father:
1Ki 12:7 And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.
It is such good advice, even bringing forth, possibly for the first time, the notion of the servant king. In serving the people, he will find they will willingly serve him in turn. This idea would find its fulfillment in the Lord Jesus, but he himself intended to set an example for all time:
Mark 10:42 But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. 43 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister. 44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest shall be servant of all.
FOLLOWED THE WRONG ADVICE
In any event, Rehoboam did not follow the wisdom and godliness of his father’s advisors:
1Ki 12:8 But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him:
He took advice from his peer group, from the younger men. They advised him to take firm action and lay down the law, start as he would mean to go on, not give an inch but rather tell the people:
1Ki 12:11 And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
When the people cam back after three days to hear the decision, they had a shock:
2Chron 10:13 And the king answered them roughly; and king Rehoboam forsook the counsel of the old men, 14 And answered them after the advice of the young men,…
The prophet Ahijah had already told Solomon’s right-hand man, Jeroboam, that he would lead the ten tribes of Israel, those to the north of Judah, so we know at this point that the Lord is firmly in control.
STUPID DECISIONS
Nevertheless, Rehoboam’s decision is ridiculous and stupid. The account goes on:
1Ki 12:15 Wherefore the king hearkened not unto the people; for the cause was from the LORD, that he might perform his saying, which the LORD spake by Ahijah the Shilonite unto Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
There are times when we read the Bible we just want to cry out, ‘Oh, no!’ at some of the stupid decisions people make. Righteous king Jehoshaphat still went to war in alliance with Ahab even though Micaiah the prophet told Ahab they would lose and that the Lord had caused every single one of Ahab’s prophets to prophesy falsely of victory as judgment against the king of Israel:
2Chron 18:22 Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil against thee.
Here is the point for our day. Leaders are surrounded by contradictory advice. Some advisors say one thing, others another. The UK has a Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies, SAGE, consisting mostly of scientists, there to give advice.
BAD DECISIONS FROM THE LORD
But the Bible shows us that sometimes, advice can be plain wrong. It also shows us that rulers can make patently stupid decisions. Above all, sometimes, wrong advice and stupid decisions are directed by the Lord as judgment for sin. And the sins of much of the West, where stupid decisions have been at their height, are many. The government of the UK have made the worst and most stupid policies of lockdown and are now making more and more. Coincidentally, the rebellion of this nation away from the laws of God will be hard to surmount for enacting evil anywhere in the world. Our sins are deep and growing day by day.
There is hope, but it lies in repentance. In Second Chronicles 12 and verse 5 we read of the prophet Shemaiah explaining to Rehoboam that the reason they have lost treasure to Egypt is because they have forsaken the Lord. By the grace of God, we read:
2Chron 12:6 Whereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The LORD is righteous.
REPENTANCE BRINGS SUCCESS
Then and only then did the Lord grant them ‘some deliverance’ as the King James Bible puts it (v7). Furthermore, even though Judah had lost of lot of money to Egypt, economic success began to come back:
2Chron 12:12 And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him, that he would not destroy him altogether: and also in Judah things went well.
Some wag has observed at a national level, ‘The wages of sin is debt’. The economic devastation on our nation and its citizens will be felt for generations. We need politicians who will humble themselves, turn from finding ever more ways to encourage national sin, so that the wrath of God will turn from us and things can begin to go well. They can do all they went, but as Solomon himself wrote:
Psalm 127:1b … except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
And conversely, when the Lord does keep the city, things go well. There is another uplifting example of God’s mercy from the book of Second Kings. Jehoahaz king of Israel was not even a good man. He had not brought back worship of the Lord. Nevertheless, when the Syrians were attacking, we read:
2Ki 13:4 And Jehoahaz besought the LORD, and the LORD hearkened unto him: for he saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them. 5 And the LORD gave Israel a saviour, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents, as beforetime.
FULL OF COMPASSION
This national deliverance came about despite their continued worship of the calves which Jeroboam made. Those verse give us hope for quite a few of those we know, and maybe even for some of us who have been slow to give up aspects of our past life. The Lord still demands repentance and obedience, but above all:
Psalm 86:15 But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.
King Manasseh of Judah might be an even better example. We shall not be reading about him in the Lamplight Bible Reading Plan until the end of September, but he had encouraged child sacrifice, of which abortion is but our modern-day version, and instituted sodomy and temple prostitution. Injustice and bloodshed ruled the day, so much that the Lord gave Manasseh as a captive into the hands of the Assyrians. Far from home, in accordance with the prayer of Solomon in 1Kgs 8:46-49, he repented, prayed and made his supplication:
2Chron 33:12 And when he was in affliction, he besought the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers, 13 And prayed unto him: and he was intreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD he was God.
HOW TO MAKE WISE DECISIONS!
Our politicians need to know that the Lord is God. With the fear of God before their eyes, he will bring them to make wise decisions, not stupid ones, cause them to turn away from evil and oppression and begin to see things not as they appear, but as they really are:
John 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
PRAY: To the Lord for national repentance and in particular for repentance among our ruling class. May the leaders of the church begin to speak according to the lively oracles of God, and may the Lord raise up fearless prophets like Shemaiah. Pray for yourself to be filled with the Holy Spirit and for a portion of the prophetic gift of Elisha. Pray for the fear of the Lord to descend on those in high office so they will have wisdom.

Browsing Facebook, I recently came across an impassioned video made by one Kate Worsford, still reeling from the shock of discovering lingerie, bondage wear and strange tattoos on her daughter’s dolls, revealed after being soaked in ice cold water. The outraged Aussie Mum, seething with disgust and with a few Aussie expletives to drive the point home, gave the ‘dolls’ the sort of indignant review any decent parent in their right mind would – perhaps minus an expletive or three, though her anger is wholly understood in the circumstances. Striking a note with concerned parents worldwide, the video generated 8.7 million views in a matter of hours and has drawn invitations for Kate to share her story on Australian TV networks.
The range of ‘L.O.L Surprise’ dolls, acronym for ‘Little Outrageous Little Surprise’, is extensive and the types of markings varied and disturbing. Before even being submerged some display fishnet stockings and red lipstick. When submerged they reveal, to name but a few examples: shackles on wrists, faces turning blue, knee high boots, bandages around private parts reading ‘caution’, an anchor tattoo on leg, luciferian occult symbolism of a Baphomet head and horns over private parts, suspenders, checker (occult) patterns and a boy with a pizza on his back. WikiLeaks, many of these are out of context and combined betray a well grounded
suspicion of ‘pizza’ as a form of code for the sexual exploitation of children.
One cryptic message of 2/9/14 from
professor and writer Susan Sandler to John Podesta reads as follows:

John, The realtor found a handkerchief (I think it has a map that seems
pizza-related. Is it yorus? They can send it if you want. I know you’re busy,
so feel free not to respond if it’s not yours or you don’t want it. Susaner” (WikiLeaks)
Paedophiles are looking to avail themselves the same ‘legitimacy’ and rights following on from those afforded to the LGBT movement. They believe they ought not to be discriminated against either and have armed themselves with an acronym of their own, MAP, or ‘Minor Attracted Persons’ and have twitter feeds named, MAPpride# and MAPpositivity#, MAPlivesmatter# and borrow slogans such as ‘age doesn’t matter’ or ‘age is just a number’. Referring back to the email, the handkerchief had a message about a ‘minor attracted person’ that ‘seems pizza-related’. There is enough coded evidence here to raise alarm bells, of course many mainstream news sources consider these arguments ‘conspiracy’ and ‘fake news’ material so expect that when conducting your own research. But does it not seem totally out of place to show images of pizzas on children’s toys backs, like those on ‘LOL Surprise’ and might this provide an explanation? Whether or not I am accurately putting the pieces together here there is definitely something clandestine and seriously malevolent taking place under our nose, hidden in plain sight.

There is no apparent clear warning as to what parents can expect when purchasing these disturbing and demonic items. They are packaged in a ball with very little to no clear explanation as to the contents. Another concerned parent, Lisa McBride of Glasgow, as reported here complained also that at the time of her purchase she hadn’t realized there were hidden and evil messages on the product, not noticing anything disclosing this on the packaging at the point of sale.
Perversion meets popularity
As welcome and necessary as Kate’s heartfelt opposition is, one wonders how these dolls grew, year on year, in popularity without any notable objection till now? The ‘L.O.L Surprise’ dolls are manufactured by MGA Entertainment Inc. The company, which also produces the slut-like garb of the Bratz range, aimed at young teens, has experienced tremendous worldwide success with the product which is hugely popular. Focusing on the UK, ‘LOL Surprise’ scooped first prize for ‘UK Toy of the Year’ for a third consecutive time this January. Prompting CEO and founder Isaac Larian to sqeal, “What an incredible fete – it’s a threepeat!!”

I wrote a complaint to MGA Entertainment Inc as
follows:
“I request an official press release in response to the strength of protest expressed by concerned parents on social media platforms like Facebook and Youtube recently. These relate to the MGA ‘L.O.L Surprise’ doll products. Some of the dolls reveal totally inappropriate undergarments, when soaked in ice water. Our readers would like to hear how MGA could possibly defend this blatant and disgusting sexualisation of children.”

Kate Worsford’s expose drew many expressions of love and support, but also, as might be expected she stirred a few snakes, who, rejecting the shame that is rightfully theirs chose to attack her and her family instead. Her website was hacked and turned into a porn site in an attempt to destroy her reputation. More serious are the death threats, duly reported to the authorities. On the back of the threats to her family, bullying and intimidation she decided to delete all her social media presence by 21/8/20 to protect her family. In her final live message, Kate tearfully expressed deep concern for the safety of children worldwide in light of the dangers of exposure on social media platforms and in the disgusting practices of the toy industry. Her brave stand has already yielded positive results, with Australian chain of discount department stores ‘Big W’ pulling the dolls from their shelves within hours of this post – as reported here.
There is a war on our children’s innocence and the predators tentacles are more and more blatantly stretching out into all forms of commerce and media aimed at the children’s market. In one of her last posts Kate asked for prayer. Please do pray for Kate and her family and raise your own heartfelt objection in the strongest terms to MGA Entertainment Inc, and to distributors of toys throughout the UK. I sent a similar message of objection to ToysRUs, but, of course, there are numerous others to target also. Hopefully, we too will see success, God willing, as consciences are stirred and these disgusting ‘toys’ removed from shelves.

Scandinavian nations are behind a major cash injection (all our links open automatically in a new tab – on desktops and laptops anyway!) for next month’s abortion-promoting conference being staged by the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) next month (November 2019). Norway, Finland, Sweden and Ireland have pledged a combined $2.2 million in direct contributions.
It comes as the UNFPA complains of ‘growing opposition to the global movement in favor of sexual and reproductive rights for all.’ Moreover, the UNFPA has now raised a total amount close to $8 million. This, they say is ‘boding well for a successful summit.’ We are calling for prayer to bring their efforts to dust.

From 12th-14th November, the Government of Kenya, the Government of Denmark and the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) are together convening the Summit, in Nairobi. The high-level conference aims to advance the reproductive rights (in other words: pro-abortion) agenda of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), which took place in Cairo in 1994, twenty-five years ago.It is being held at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) at Harambee Avenue in Nairobi’s Central Business District.
KICC is well-known as the largest conference centre in East Africa. It was commissioned by Kenya’s first president, Jomo Kenyatta. Jomo Kenyatta’s son, Uhuru, is the current president of Kenya. The organisers are inviting ‘Heads of state, ministers, parliamentarians, technical experts, civil society representatives, private sector partners, faith-based leaders, youth leaders, advocates and many others’.

Dr. Natalia Kanem, UNFPA’s Executive Director, has already been in the Kibera informal settlement in Nairobi in March, as we reported here. She adopted a blatant feminist stance, pretending that abortion advances the rights of women. Firstly, we accept some of what UNFPA does is good. We praise their campaigning against female genital mutilation. Grants for sanitary products for school-girls given to organisations like Genesis Care are to be commended.
Secondly, of course maternal deaths should be reduced through better obstetric cover. And peri-natal deaths as well, although that is not a UNFPA aim. However, Dr. Kanem was in Kibera to promote the pro-abortion Nairobi Summit on ‘ICPD25′. She wanted to ‘convene activists, governments and leaders to commit to realising sexual and reproductive health and rights for all.’ ‘Reproductive rights’ is code for universal abortion on demand.

Scandinavians
Norway’s Dag-Inge Ulstein ‘pushing back’ against life.
According to a UNFPA webpage, Norwegian Minister of International Development Dag-Inge Ulstein has now said his country will allocate 7 million Norwegian kroner (around $770,000) to ‘demonstrate Norway’s support for the objectives of the Nairobi Summit’. Referring to growing opposition to unfettered abortion, Norway is going to Nairobi ‘to push back [against that] pushback,’ said Mr. Ulstein.
The UNFPA also reports, ‘As sexual and reproductive health and rights come under attack in many parts of the world, “Sweden will not back down,” noted Peter Eriksson, Minister for International Development Cooperation.‘Sweden, he confirmed, will contribute $500,000 to make the Nairobi Summit a success and end the unfinished business of ICPD.’
Sex Education
Finnish Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Ville Skinnari announced another $500,000 to pay for the Nairobi Summit ‘because women and girls are always a good investment and completing the ICPD agenda “is the right thing to do”.’ Mr. Skinnari is also an advocate of ‘comprehensive’ sex education.
This invasion of children’s modesty and privacy is now gaining ground even in conservative-minded Kenya.Ireland will add $400,000 ‘to ensure least developed countries and small island nations are present in Nairobi.’ ‘We fully support the objectives of the Nairobi Summit,’ said Katherine Zappone, Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, adding that it is an ‘opportunity to turn ambitions into commitments’ to realise the promise of ICPD. The Republic legalised abortion last year.

Abortion as ‘health’?
The first of five ‘themes’ of the conference is ‘Universal access to sexual and reproductive health as a part of universal health coverage.’Treatment for sexually-transmitted disease should be and always is part of universal health coverage.
But that’s not what they mean. Their focus is on abortion and contraception. However, money, private or public, is always in short supply for health provision. Priorities have to be set. The UNFPA clearly wants contraceptives to be funded instead of real health provision. Will they also prioritise abortions over, for example, cancer treatment?
They moan that ‘around the world, sexual and reproductive health care is often under-funded and separated from primary health care.’ Of course it is. That is because it isn’t genuine health care. Abortion breaks the first medical principle of ‘do no harm’. Equally, contraception is overwhelmingly a lifestyle choice. You take a medicine or have surgery because you are ill. What is wrong with a woman taking the pill? She’s fertile? Since when was that an ailment?
Abortion is an insult to all the women in this world desperate to conceive, seeing the doctors, praying to be like the Bible’s Hannah: 1Sam 2:21 And the LORD visited Hannah, so that she conceived, and bare three sons and two daughters. And (her first) child Samuel grew before the LORD.
‘End violence against women’
Another stated ‘theme’ of the conference is ‘Accelerating Action to End Violence Against Women and Girls’. The UNFPA say this without blushing. Abortion is a manifest expression of violence against women. It assaults the caring nurturing heart of their being. It rips a living human being out of what should be the safest place on God’s earth:
Psalm 139:13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.Eccl 11:5 As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all
Moreover, it is unashamedly sexist. Does violence against men and boys not matter? The conflict in Ukraine has seen 4,266 deaths to date. The Iraq Body Count project documents 183,348 – 205,908 violent civilian deaths to April 2019. It displaced millions. Estimates of deaths in the Western-funded Syrian Civil War vary between 371,222 and more than 570,000. By the end of 2013, the UN estimated its total economic damage at $143 billion. In 2018, the World Bank estimated that about one-third of Syria’s housing stock and one half of its health and education facilities had been destroyed by the conflict.
That devastation affected whole families, men, women and children. And yet the UNFPA acts as if none of this is of any consequence.
The truth about violence
In fact, a massive social survey in Kenya found ‘Forty-five percent of women … have experienced physical violence’. The UNFPA made a lot of that figure. They completely ignored that the same report found 44% of men reported experiencing violence.
Men willingly put their lives on the line for their families.
Again, 19.7% of women had suffered unintentional injury. But that compares with 33% of men.
All over the world, being a man is far more dangerous than being a woman. However, men do not complain that they do the more dangerous jobs and put their lives on the line for their women and their families:
Neh 4:14 And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.
Deliberately misleading
Having read the Kenyan report, the UNFPA are being deliberately misleading when they drone on about violence against women. Furthermore, families and relationships are complex things. Women are just as capable of malice against their men-folk as men are of striking out against a woman.
The Psalmist complains: Psalm 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
But we should be wrong to conclude from his male gender that it is only men who are tainted with original sin while women as a sex are as pure as the driven snow. It is only necessary to look at the UNFPA’s Dr. Natalia Kanem, in Nairobi to promote abortion, and Kenyan MP Esther Passaris, going around Nairobi tearing down pro-life posters, to realise that women are capable of sin.
Fragile contexts
As an example of how the UNFPA live in a parallel universe to that of normal people, consider another ‘theme’. It is ‘Upholding the right to sexual and reproductive health care even in humanitarian and fragile contexts.’ They say: ‘Women fleeing war or stranded in places where services have collapsed must still be able to prevent pregnancy and may still need help to give birth safely.’
Is life in a refugee camp really made better by condoms and abortion? Should not the West be funding tents, food and blankets and helping people get their lives back together?
Of course giving birth in a refugee camp is not ideal, and if the UNFPA were merely asking for midwives to form part of emergency teams we should not have a quarrel. But being ‘able to prevent pregnancy’?
There are people in the camps who have lost everything, perhaps carrying injury, maybe mourning family members. But cheer up, here are some condoms from Norway and we have a Swedish-paid abortionist on hand when they fail! Are they serious?
Abortion as a driver of evil
The Psalmist observes how the people of Israel became corrupted by pagan practice when they entered the Holy Land:
Psalm 106:37 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils, 38 And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
As we read above about the death of Abel, innocent blood cries to heaven for vengeance. But there is more. In the Bible’s book of Second Kings, we read of the king of Moab in battle against a coalition led by Israel. It was going badly for him. As a last resort:
2Kings 3:27 Then he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt offering upon the wall. And there was great indignation against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.
The Hebrew word translated ‘indignation’ is ‘qetsef’. It also means ‘rage’ or ‘wrath’. I believe his terrible ritual human sacrifice of his son released unimaginable demonic power for which his enemies were unprepared.
Act of rebellion – and judgment
But we do not need incantations. Every time an innocent human life is lost the Devil draws spiritual power. Abortion becomes an act of rebellion against a holy God and a judgment against a nation. It releases even greater evil, for bloodshed, for perversion, for immorality.
We see this in the Western world. In the United Kingdom in the 1960s we decriminalised both abortion and sexual perversion including sodomy. We sowed the seeds for family breakdown with no-fault divorce. We began explicit sex education.

We now reap disrespect for human life and authority, an epidemic of knife crime, fatherless families, parades of homosexual perversion through our cities.
The UK has exported violence to Iraq, Libya and Syria and through our Saudi proxy, to Yemen. We are part of a European Union which destablised Ukraine. We have much blood on our hands. How we, and much of the so-called ‘civilised’ West, need national repentance. Instead, we try to export our rebellion to the developing world.
The Kenya perspective
Abortion is prohibited by the Kenya criminal code. Despite that, Marie Stopes International (MSI), which according to its latest annual report is ‘one of the world’s largest providers of high quality, affordable contraception and safe abortion services’ operates openly all over the country and much of East and West Africa. Its total turnover worldwide in 2018 was £296,849,000.
The Guardian reports In December 2018 the Kenyan Government allowed MSI to continue to provide post-abortion services alone. Yet it is clear that service is a smokescreen for illegal abortion. The MSI website boasts: ‘Providing access to safe abortion and post-abortion care is at the core of our mission. In 2018, MSI provided more than 4.8 million services to women and girls who turned to us for safe abortion and post-abortion care services.’ (Our emphasis of ‘and’ in both cases above.)

UK doctor helped abortionists
In 2012, on the website of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, medical student Linden Stocker wrote of an elective she did in Kisumu. Dr Stocker (as she now is) spent two days a week at Marie Stopes and reported they ‘perform safe, completely illegal abortions for a cost equivalent of about £30′.
Marie Stopes actually turned over £11.5m in Kenya in 2018, but almost 94% of its income to slay the innocent across Africa and Asia came from Western grants. (Total turnover Africa & Asia: £180,611. Income from grants: £169,204.) The Bible says:
Deut 27:25 Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen.
Western grants to Marie Stopes
When we turned up the page of Marie Stopes ‘partners’ we were shocked. It lists 31 NGOs and government agencies. The abortionists receive grants from the national governments of Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom, USA and the European Commission. Moreover, a recent House of Commons motion revealed the UK Government is the biggest donor to Marie Stopes International. The UK provided £48m to allow the abortionist to carry out illegal abortions in Africa.
US-based NGOs funding its abortion services include Bloomberg Philanthropies, Care International, Direct Relief, the Ford Foundation, Bill & Melinda Gates, Global Health Corps, the William & Flora Hewlett Foundation, the David & Lucile Packard Foundation, Population Action International (PAI), John Templeton Foundation and West Wind Foundation. Marie Stopes Furthermore, UK-based funders include Amref (began as flying doctors), Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, the Ernest Kleinwort Charitable Trust, the Waterloo Foundation and Vitol. German-based KfW Development Bank and the World Bank provide Marie Stopes with money.
Lastly, UN bodies funding Marie Stopes include Unicef, UNHCR and of course UNFPA.
Planned Parenthood
It doesn’t stop there. The world’s largest abortionist is Planned Parenthood. Their website says: ‘In July 2017, Planned Parenthood Global officially transitioned its headquarters from New York to Nairobi, Kenya. The Nairobi headquarters will help Planned Parenthood Global establish a larger footprint in both regions where it works, as we face unprecedented attacks on sexual and reproductive health and rights around the world.’
The world’s biggest abortionist is now headquartered in Senteu Plaza, 3rd floor Galana Rd, Nairobi, in a nation which bans abortion. No wonder they spent $115m on ‘advocacy’ (propaganda) in 2018. Planned Parenthood Federation of America International is also quartered in the city, in Chaka Place, 1st Floor, on Chaka Rd.
In total, Planned Parenthood turned over $1,665m in 2018, of which $564m came from governments, $366 from ‘non-government sources’ and $631m from ‘private contributions and bequests’. Planned Parenthood has personnel links with the Ford Foundation and also with George Soros’ Open Society Foundations. Ford Foundation has given the abortionist $22m over the last twelve years. Open Society gave PP a modest £250,000 in 2016, but a whopping $10m to its Action Fund propaganda arm in 2017.
In March, pro-abortion rights and former US congressman Tom Perriello joined Open Society Foundations ‘to oversee grantmaking and advocacy’.From this year, Planned Parenthood will go without US Federal grants. They refused to comply with a new Trump administration rule that forbids referrals to doctors who can perform abortions. But their income is still colossal and their influence set to increase.
Abortion ban brings blessing
African and Asian nations and many in Central and South America who maintain a ban on legal abortion do so in the face of intense international pressure. They can expect a blessing from the Almighty from refusing to shed innocent blood.They will have other things they need to put right before God, of course. Repentance and trusting in the Lord Jesus are national necessities. But holding human life sacred is a good start. God’s prophet says of the Almighty:
Isaiah 60:12 For the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted.
But the Lord Almighty promises to every nation:
Lev 26:3 If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them; 4 Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. 5 And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely. 6 And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.

31% don’t believe Darwin any more
Except Jeremy Vine. He reported on his television show yesterday how many people simply do not believe his Theory of Evolution any more. That’s Darwin’s Theory, not Jeremy’s. Apparently, says the Daily Mirror, 31% of the UK population do not believe all we see ‘just evolved’ Another 7% think Charles Darwin wrote ‘The Da Vince Code’.
And in 2009 the Daily Telegraph reported a clear majority of Brits, 51% to 40%, ‘agreed with the statement that “evolution alone is not enough to explain the complex structures of some living things, so the intervention of a designer is needed at key stages”.’
Charles Robert Darwin was born in Shrewsbury on 12th February 1809 and died on 19th April 1882. This year on‘Darwin Day’ he would have been 209. He published ‘On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life’ in 1859. Even that is 159 years ago.
Sciences like Genetics, Molecular Biology and Information Theory were unknown in Darwin’s day. We don’t do chronological snobbery here. We don’t think we are the cleverest people ever to have walked God’s earth. Nevertheless, Darwin’s tome really does look its age these days.
Musical dropped
Meanwhile, a few days before, the BBC reported on a school which has ‘axed a musical on evolution over its suggestive lyrics and portrayal of Christian views.’
Darwin Rocks, about the scientist Charles Darwin, was due to be performed by about 90 pupils at Hartford Manor Primary School, Cheshire, next month. The school said there had been six ‘expressions of concern’ by parents.
The musical’s publishers Musicline said it was written by a Christian, adding “we can’t ever recall having courted controversy before”.
According to its website, the production is a ‘light-hearted look’ at the work of Darwin.
Head teacher Simon Kidwell told the BBC that the school, in Hartford near Northwich, received the complaints over lyrics that refer to ‘bump and grind’ – a sexually suggestive dance move.
‘There were concerns about caricature,’ he said, adding the complainants, who include a science teacher from another school, felt its representation of Christian views on science ‘wasn’t accurate’.
Who is anti-science?
It has become fashionable to characterise the Christian or Biblical view that God created all there is as anti-science.
But in truth, as we find out more about the natural world, it’s not that simple. Those who hold the evolutionist view really do see it as a matter of faith. And more and more problems are arising. We reported a couple of years ago on the bio-energeticists who discovered that bacteria would never find the power to evolve into cells with a nucleus.
Evolutionists hold that bacteria were the first forms of life to evolve. But cells with a nucleus, ‘eukaryotic’ cells, are the building blocks of life. The poor bio-energeticists had to resort to contending some external force must have intervened. But that is ‘Deus ex machina’ by another name.
Nature is inter-connected
Creationists have long shown that certain animals, or even processes, have ‘irreducible complexity’. In other words, they simply could not evolve. Why have a stomach without a mouth and a means of evacuating waste? How did the bombardier beetle possibly evolve its extraordinary defence system? What happened to all the eggs while swallows were evolving the construction of their mud nests?
For this author, the complexity of nature and all the interconnecting strands and food chains say it all had to be in place at the same time. Flowers and their pollinators are just one obvious example. So to this engineer, a six-day creation makes sense.
Too many jobs in the biological sciences depend on the evolutionary faith-view for it to be dumped over-night. ‘Darwin Day’ might endure for a while longer. But a day is coming when those scientists will be found asking: ‘Lord, how did you Do that?’
