Parliamentary reform: Lords? Or Commons?

2
Uk-Parliament by Roger-Harris

The Government are fixated on Parliamentary reform, specifically targeting the House of Lords. Well, of course they would never admit there is anything wrong with the House of Commons, would they? ‘It’s the other lot who need reforming, there’s nothing wrong with us!’

So obsessed is he with ejecting the remaining hereditary peers, Sir Kier Starmer has just nominated dozens of cronies to tip the voting balance. Aristocracy, bad. Chumocracy, good.

Reform UK go even further, saying there is no place ‘in our modern democracy’ or words toi that effect, for the House of Lords. But are they both attacking the wrong target? Is this mindless constitutional vandalism? After all, those people who set it all in place, step by step, just might have known better than us:

Prov 22:28 Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

Christian Voice National Director Stephen Green takes a sideways look:

He says: ‘Since Tony Blair expelled most hereditary peers, the chamber has become populated with place-men, friends, business associates, and donors to the party of the current or previous prime minister.

‘Labour will force out all peers over 80, which is puzzling given their manifesto commitment to give pensioners “the dignity and security they deserve”. Up to eighty, it seems, then they are too old to be dignified and secure.

‘What would the Bible’s Caleb have thought about that, who at the age of eighty-five could reminisce about the time he went to spy out the land forty-five years earlier and announce:’

Jos 14:11 As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.

‘But not to come in to the House of Lords, so it seems.’

Appointment of life peers

Mr Green goes on: ‘They will also turf out the remaining 92 hereditaries, who are currently chosen by the rest. Labour will also ‘reform’, their word, the process of appointing life peers to ensure “quality” and representativeness. I smell another little quango of the elite springing up, don’t you?

‘The Labour manifesto also promises “an alternative second chamber that is more representative of the regions and nations”. I don’t begin to know what that means, except that it seems to mean some kind of a vote. And that would set up the House of Lords, or whatever it would be, as a democratic rival to the House of Commons.

‘But I wonder, if we are talking about parliamentary reform, don’t you think it’s all the wrong way round? What does the Bible say are the qualifications for leadership? Here’s Jethro, advising Moses in the book of Exodus:

Exodus 18:21 Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness;

‘I imagine those men have proved themselves able in some sphere of commerce, or farming, or in battle, and ‘such as fear God’ means they are also humble. They don’t believe absurdities, but in truth, and they don’t do bribery and corruption.

‘Right then. How many of those people we elected to parliament in July 2024 meet those criteria? Do you see where I’m going?’

Our humble suggestion

‘Here’s my humble suggestion.

‘Firstly, Set up a commission to remove the cronies from the House of Lords,

‘Secondly, bring back all the hereditary peers and jolly-well set them to work running the country. Let’s see some biblical noblesse oblige, eh?

‘Thirdly, Expel all those who do not match up to Jethro’s criteria, that is the stupid, the incompetent, the godless, the arrogant, the power-crazy, the liars and believers in absurdities, the elitists, the globalists and the warmongers, the greedy, the self-centred, the self-absorbed, self-satisfied and plain narcissists from the House of Commons.

‘Let me know of anyone who you think would be left.’

Exclusive: GMC misleading the public over ‘trans’ doctors

.The General Medical Council (GMC) is misleading the public over ‘trans’ doctors.

Professor Dame Carrie MacEwen(far left), Dr Alison Wright(second left), Dr Olamide Oguntimehin(third left), Dr Raj Patel MBE(pictured in the middle), Dr Vanessa Davies(second rigth), Dr Rajiv Wijesuriya(right).

We stand for Christian Standards in Society, seeing what scripture says about current affairs, calling for integrity, truth and honesty from those in public life.

The scripture says:Prov 16:12 It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.

The throne, any throne, is established not by dishonesty, not by lies, but by righteousness.

Return to the UK’s Christian Constitution →

So, with those principles of integrity, truth and honesty in mind, we turn to the GMC, which safeguards the public by maintaining the official register of medical practitioners within the United Kingdom.

But now we learn this public body is being less than honest, untruthful in fact, with the public it is there to serve.

“Doctors permitted to conceal identity”

The GMC is allowing doctors who claim to have ‘changed their gender’ to conceal their true identity on its register.

Such a doctor receives a new registration number under their new, false, name. Unless you know the real name of the doctor, not even a hospital thinking of hiring them can find out their record, including any previous suspensions or formal warnings.

If you are a woman with an objection to being examined or treated by a man, you cannot check that your doctor was actually born as a woman.

Stop Transgenderism Now!

Theodore Benedict Onni Upton
Theodore Benedict Onni Upton

“Transwoman” Dr ‘Beth’ Upton

A perfect example is the “transwoman” doctor calling himself Dr Beth Upton. He is currently at the centre of an employment tribunal brought by nurse Sandie Peggie against NHS Fife.

Nurse Sandie claims she was subjected to unlawful harassment by being made to share a changing room at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, with Dr Upton, who insists on using the women’s changing room despite being genetically and legally a man.

His real name is Theodore Benedict Onni Upton. He is still on the GMC’s books under that name, with reference number 7844321. But his registration page says sternly:

‘This person is not on the Medical Register and may not practise as a doctor in the UK’.

But that’s not actually true. The GMC is not being honest with us.

Support NCCSS / Christian Voice →

Conflicting medical register entries

Dr. Upton is indeed on the medical register, as Elisabeth Ruth Annikki Upton, with a brand new GMC reference number of 8038543.

His designated body is NHS Fife, and his qualifications and registration dates coincide exactly with those on his Theodore entry.

Dr Theodore Upton and Dr Beth Upton are the same person, with two separate GMC registration pages, one of which is telling us he can practice as a doctor, while the other is saying he can’t.

Ask us to come and speak at your church →

Past misdoings wiped away

In fact, he is among 62 doctors to be given a new GMC registration under a new GMC number, according to the Telegraph, which revealed this medical scandal.

There is no suggestion that Dr Upton has any previous suspensions or formal warnings. But a doctor who had been warned or suspended could claim to have a new gender and under his new GMC number all that would be forgotten.

The GMC confirmed to The Telegraph that new records for medics who change gender will be wiped of previous misdoings.

Who voted for the GMC?

So who are the exalted members of the General Medical Council allowing this outrage? Who voted for them?

Well the last question is easy to answer. There is no vote, neither from the public, nor from their fellow doctors.

The six doctors and six lay members of the GMC Council are appointed by the Privy Council, that’s every politician who has ever become a minister of State and been made a Right Honorable. But here it becomes murky.

There are currently, in February 2025, seven hundred and forty-five Right Honourables. That’s a lot. So there are advisory committees which decide who receives all the appointments, and the Privy Council then rubber stamps those decisions.

Meet the Council

Thus it is that we find the GMC Council are all members of the so-called ‘great and good’. They are those whose faces fit in the circles of the elite.

The Chair is Professor Dame Carrie MacEwen, a consultant ophthalmologist for NHS Tayside and Honorary Professor at the University of Dundee. ‘Carrie (we read) has served on several committees’ and been an ‘advisor to the Scottish Chief Medical Officer’ for over a decade. Of course she has.

There’s Professor Keith Lloyd of Swansea Bay University Health Board, a former Vice-President of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Do not try trans ideology on in Lagos!

We have Dr Olamide Oguntimehin, founder and Chief Executive of Melanin Medics, Trustee of the Medical Women’s Federation, Member of the GMC Equality and Diversity Advisory Board and the BMA EDI Advisory Group. Not bad for someone who only qualified in 2021 and who is still a junior doctor.

She is also ‘fostering inclusive environments, championing equity and improving opportunities for under-represented groups in healthcare’ …Including transgenders? Honestly, Ola, don’t try that on in Lagos.

And I have to point out that black or Asian medics make up exactly half of the GMC Council’s doctor contingent.

MBE’s, Chairs and Insiders

Dr Raj Patel MBE is another establishment insider, a previous Medical Director of Primary Care for NHS England and NHS Improvement, etc, etc. MBE for services to healthcare.

Dr Rajiv Wijesuriya is Clinical Advisor to the National Vaccination and Screening programme and to the Primary Care team at NHS England. He is Chair of BMA Charities and has been a member of the BMA Council.

Outside the FSRH/RCOG conference December 2024, engaging with leading abortion-promoting celebrity Simphiwe Sesane.
Outside the FSRH/RCOG conference December 2024, engaging with leading abortion-promoting celebrity Simphiwe Sesane.

The last of the six doctors is Dr Alison Wright, a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and an elected international representative for them.

Which is interesting, since Christian Voice held a prophetic, evangelistic witness outside their posh office only last December when they hosted a conference promoting abortion.

Dr Alison is also a director of GMC Services International Ltd. Would it stretch the imagination to envisage this internationalist advancing the causes of abortion and transgenderism across the world?

GMC lay members out of the same drawer

The six lay members of the GMC are all out of the same establishment drawer.

Dr Vanessa Davies has been an academic linguist, a senior civil servant in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and deputy CEO for a legal aid charity working in refugee and asylum and immigration law.

Professor Deepa Mann-Kler specialises in Immersive Futures with Ulster University. Well, someone has to. She’s director of the Public Health Agency NI and the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland.

Deepa is a TEDx speaker and a thought leader with a value basis, it says, ‘firmly grounded in technology for good, equity, diversity, inclusion with positive social impact’. I don’t begin to know what all that means, but it sounds jolly woke and worthy.

Mr Douglas Millican is Chair of World Vision UK, and believes strongly in the power of effective regulation. Apparently, he feels a close affinity with the GMC’s role in protecting patients. But not protecting them from men doctors pretending to be women, of course.

Lords, and a lack of true ethics

The GMC also have a member of the House of Lords, Baroness Ramsey of Wall Heath.

Professor Suzanne Shale
Professor Suzanne Shale

They have an independent ethics consultant, Professor Suzanne Shale, overseeing research on patient safety and supporting NHS Clinical Ethics Committees.

I’m surprised that ‘ethics’ does not include integrity, honesty and truth on the GMC register. But then, I do not breathe the rarified air in the GMC boardroom, do I?

Lastly, Wendy Williams CBE, Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS North East, His Majesty’s Inspector of Constabulary and Fire Services, author of the Windrush Report, Non-executive Director of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, a member of the parliamentary Independent Expert Panel, and a member of Advisory Boards for the Universities of Cambridge AND Oxford. Oh, Wendy. And the GMC too. How does she find the time?

Court overturns discrimination against Christian employee

Kristie Higgs

For too long, Christians in the UK have found themselves silenced, punished, and ostracised for standing by their beliefs. Last week, the Court of Appeal handed down a ruling that corrects years of injustice—a decisive victory for free speech and religious liberty.

Kristie Higgs, a devoted Christian and former school administrator, was dismissed from her job for daring to voice concerns about gender ideology and same-sex marriage on her personal Facebook page.

The court’s decision affirms that dismissing an employee for simply expressing a religious belief is unlawful under the Equality Act 2010.

Uphold Christian freedom
and repeal ‘woke’ laws →

Persecution of Christians in modern Britain

Ms. Higgs’ case is not an isolated one. Over the past decade, we have seen case after case where Christians have been targeted for their beliefs. Felix Ngole, a social-work student, was expelled from his course for expressing opposition to same-sex relationships on social media. Richard Page, an NHS director, was removed from his position for defending family structure. These cases have left many believers uncertain about their standing in a society that claims to uphold free speech.

While ‘progressives’ preach about tolerance, they have weaponised institutions to silence Christians. But the Court of Appeal has now drawn a line in the sand, reaffirming what should have always been clear: freedom of religion and expression are not subject to ideological trends.

The Bible says,
John 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
The court has now reminded the world that Christians, too, have a right to speak.

Ask us to come and speak at your church →

The chilling effect of past inconsistencies

For years, the legal system has sent mixed signals on religious expression. While  Mr. Ngole was ultimately vindicated, Page was not. Such inconsistencies left Christians in a precarious position—unsure if their faith-based opinions might cost them their livelihoods.

Employers, emboldened by an anti-Christian bias, felt free to punish employees for their beliefs, confident that the courts would back them up.

This ruling, however, has set a powerful precedent that cannot be ignored. Employers can no longer justify discrimination against Christian employees who express their views outside of work.

Support NCCSS / Christian Voice →

“A mask for authoritarianism”

This ruling is not just about one woman’s right to speak; it is about the broader battle against the ideological tyranny that has gripped Western institutions.

If a Christian can be fired for quoting Scripture, then the so-called ‘tolerance’ movement is nothing more than a mask for authoritarianism. The Court of Appeal’s decision is a crucial push-back against this overreach.

The erosion of free speech has never been more evident than in the past decade. We have seen academics, medical professionals, and even comedians lose their positions for failing to conform to radical ideologies.

This ruling signals that the power of truth cannot be drowned out by the noise of cultural coercion.

A win for all, not just Christians

Some may see this as a ‘Christian victory,’ but it is more than that—it is a victory for everyone who values free expression. Today, it is Christians who are under attack; tomorrow, it could be anyone who dares to voice an unpopular opinion.

This ruling upholds the principle that in a free society, beliefs—religious or otherwise—should not be policed by employers.

This case should serve as a wake-up call to the silent majority who have watched in fear as cancel culture and ideological purges take over workplaces.

Ms. Higgs’ victory is a clarion call for Christians to stand firm, unafraid, and unwavering in their convictions. The tide is turning, and this judgement has marked a pivotal moment in the fight for true freedom in Britain.

J D Vance: What does Europe stand for any more?

US Vice-President J D Vance tells Europe's self-satisfied elite some home truths.
US Vice-President J D Vance tells Europe's self-satisfied elite some home truths.

Script of video:

On Saturday 15th February, 2025, US Vice-President, J D Vance, gave a twenty-minute speech to assembled European dignitaries at the Munich Security Conference.

Of course the conference was already ablaze with outrage that President Donald Trump had called Russia’s President Putin and started negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine.

Euro-leaders shut down dissent

US Vice-President J D Vance tells Europe's self-satisfied elite some home truths.
US Vice-President J D Vance tells Europe’s self-satisfied elite some home truths.

But J D Vance did not concentrate on that. He hardly mentioned it. His focus was to denounce his audience for shutting down domestic dissent, and to ask them what values they were defending.

For the BBC’s Security Correspondent Frank Gardner it was ‘a blistering attack decrying misinformation, disinformation, and the rights of free speech.’ He meant ‘upholding the rights of free speech’. I think Frank had lost his composure a bit.

He described the JDV speech as ‘a very weird 20 minutes – one met largely with silence from delegates in the hall.’ Indeed it was. Not just did the ‘speech go down very badly – unequivocally badly’, But ‘It was extraordinarily poorly judged,’ according to the affronted man from the BBC.

However, for Brendan O’Neill for Spiked Online, it ‘was a joy to watch’, ‘a delicious spectacle’, seeing ‘A Yank from dirt-poor origins sticking it to Europe’s turbo-smug ruling class’.

The video is up on the White House YouTube channel, so we can all decide for ourselves.

J D Vance ‘does God’

Tony Blair (L) & Alastair Campbell
Tony Blair (L) & Alastair Campbell

I’ve taken out some things you might find informative, even scriptural, from it. Well, it’s no secret that the new US administration ‘does God’, just as Tony Blair’s, according to his spin doctor Alistair Campbell, did not.

Nor, for that matter, do our present crop of UK politicians, even, I must venture, a great many who profess Christ. By ‘Do God’ I mean acknowledge that Jesus, the King of kings, is sovereign in the national affairs of men. Above all, to see faith in the Lord of life as more than a mere personal matter.

This may be a longer video than we normally post, but we’ll be going behind the scenes and drawing encouragement for those who pray and for those who recognise that there is indeed a spiritual dimension to our life here on earth. Sign our ‘Doing God’ petition:

Civil ruler to do good to us

It did not take long for the Vice-President to remind, in his own words:
‘all of us who have been fortunate enough to be given political power by our respective peoples, to use it wisely—to improve their lives.’

That is scriptural. Remember from the book of Romans, where the Apostle Paul is discussing the civil ruler? He writes:
Rom 13:4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good.

Rulers, according to the Bible, are not there to impoverish their people, as the climate fanatics seem to think, but to create an environment in which we can prosper.

Threat from within

EU Leaders need to repent.
EU Leaders need to repent.

Bearing in mind this was a security conference, Mr Vance went on:
‘the threat that I worry most about for Europe is not Russia. It’s not China. It’s not any other external actor. What I worry about is the threat from within—the retreat of Europe from some of its most fundamental values, values that are shared with the United States of America.

‘I was struck that a former European commissioner went on television recently and sounded delighted that the Romanian government had just annulled an entire election. He warned that if things don’t go to plan, the very same thing could happen in Germany too.’

It was the Romanian constitutional court, as it happens, but Mr Vance regards the courts, correctly, you might say, as an arm of government.

Defence of Democracy

Mr Vance went on to point out that today:
‘Everything—from our Ukraine policy to digital censorship—is billed as a defence of democracy.’

Well even in the US, some claimed to be ‘defending democracy’ by trying to use the courts to stop Donald Trump from contesting the presidential elections.

And when the European elites use anti-democratic means to prevent the wrong people from participating in the democratic system, that too is ‘defending democracy’.
Because ‘Defending Democracy’ actually means, ‘Keeping us in power’.

The V-P reminded those present about the Cold War:
‘Consider the side in that fight that censored dissidents, closed churches, and canceled elections. Were they the good guys? Certainly not.’

’Shut down Social Media’

He went on to draw uncomfortable parallels between the old Soviet Union and today’s European leaders:
‘I look to Brussels, where EU commissars warn citizens that they intend to shut down social media during times of civil unrest, the moment they spot what they’ve judged to be “hateful content.”

‘Or to this very country (Germany), where police have carried out raids against citizens suspected of posting anti-feminist comments online, as part of “Combating Misogyny on the Internet: A Day of Action.”

‘I look to Sweden, where two weeks ago, the government convicted a Christian activist for participating in Quran burnings that resulted in his friend’s murder.’

The penalty imposed on Salwan Najem was a fine. His friend, Salwan Momika, was murdered by Muslim vigilantes just weeks previously. Either way, in Sweden, burning the Koran means consequences. Swedish judges have imposed an Islamic blasphemy law.

’Tolerant Country’

Stephen Green on 6th February 2023 outside Marie Stopes abortion facility in Mattock Lane, Ealing.
Stephen Green was convicted for standing outside Marie Stopes abortion facility in Ealing on 6th February 2023 .

As they have done in the United Kingdom, where one Martin Frost has now been convicted after a similar activity in Manchester.

‘This is a tolerant country, but we just do not tolerate this behaviour,’ said Judge Margaret McCormack in that case, apparently with a straight face.

And indeed, it was to the UK where J D Vance next turned his attention:
‘And perhaps most concerningly, I look to our very dear friends, the United Kingdom, where the backslide away from conscience rights has placed the basic liberties of religious Britain in the crosshairs. A little over two years ago, the British government charged Adam Smith-Connor, a 51-year-old physiotherapist and army veteran, with the heinous crime of standing 50 meters from an abortion clinic and silently praying for three minutes.

‘Not obstructing anyone. Not interacting with anyone. Just silently praying on his own. … Adam was found guilty of breaking the government’s new “buffer zone” law, which criminalizes silent prayer and other actions that could influence a person’s decision within 200 meters of an abortion facility.’

Stop Abortion Buffer Zones →

Thousands of Pounds in Legal Costs

I too have been convicted of a buffer zone offence, for standing outside an abortion facility displaying a Bible verse. Neither obstructing nor interacting with anyone, just like Adam. And just like him, I have been, as J D Vance put it:
‘… sentenced to pay thousands of pounds in legal costs to the prosecution.’

Support NCCSS / Christian Voice

Mr Vance went on:
‘In Britain and across Europe, free speech, I fear, is in retreat.’

As he was speaking, hundreds were being charged here with online ‘speech crimes’ under what was described as an ‘Orwellian’ crackdown.

Mr Vance went on:
‘To many of us on the other side of the Atlantic, it looks more and more like old, entrenched interests hiding behind ugly, Soviet-era words like misinformation and disinformation, who simply don’t like the idea that somebody with an alternative viewpoint might express a different opinion, or, God forbid, vote a different way—or even worse, win an election.’

He went on to ask what is their vision:
‘I’ve heard a lot about what you need to defend yourselves from, and of course, that’s important.
‘But what has seemed a little bit less clear to me, and certainly, I think, to many of the citizens of Europe, is what exactly it is that you’re defending yourselves for. What is the positive vision that animates this shared security compact that we all believe is so important?’

Keep themselves in power

It’s a good question. And I think the answer is their vision lies in keeping themselves in office, whilst advancing today’s secularist sacred cows, things which stupidly attack the Christian faith upon which their entire civilisation is built, ideas like sodomy, abortion, depravity, divorce and family breakdown, multiculturalism.

I think the new US administration even sees the European elite’s climate fanaticism as an example of what amounts to a cultural death wish. Sign our Petition:

Reject Net Zero policies

As for multiculturalism being part of their death wish, how else, except from a spiritual perspective, do you explain their policy of opening the doors to Muslims, whose religion has supplanting the Christian foundation of their target societies with Islamism as an article of faith?

’nothing more urgent than mass migration’

Wreath laid after terror attack in France
Wreath laid after terror attack in France

The Vice-President certainly sees it like that:
‘I believe there is nothing more urgent than mass migration. Today, almost one in five people living in this country moved here from abroad. … The number of immigrants who entered the EU from non-EU countries doubled between 2021 and 2022 alone. And, of course, it’s gotten much higher since. And we know—the situation didn’t materialize in a vacuum.

‘It’s the result of a series of conscious decisions made by politicians all over the continent, and others across the world, over the span of a decade. We saw the horrors wrought by these decisions yesterday, in this very city. And, of course, I can’t bring it up again without thinking about the terrible victims—who had a beautiful winter day in Munich ruined.’

‘An asylum seeker, often a young man in his mid-20s, already known to police, rams a car into a crowd and shatters a community.’

As Vice-President Vance was speaking, a 23-year-old Syrian asylum seeker murdered a 14-year-old boy and wounded five others in an Islamist knife attack in Austria.

What did we vote for?

‘No voter on this continent went to the ballot box to open the floodgates to millions of unvetted immigrants.’

‘But you know what they did vote for? In England, they voted for Brexit. And, agree or disagree, they voted for it. And more and more, all over Europe, they’re voting for political leaders who promise to put an end to out-of-control migration. …

‘I just think that people care about their homes. They care about their dreams. They care about their safety and their capacity to provide for themselves and their children.’

Going further, he took aim at the elitist World Economic Forum, where King Charles has hob-nobbed with Klaus Schwab, Prince William launched his Earthshot Prize, where Justin Trudeau, Jacinda Ardern and the current secretary general of NATO, former Dutch prime minister Mark Rutte, emerged from the Young Global Leaders programme, and where ordinary people are envisaged as owning nothing and being happy:

‘Contrary to what you might hear a couple mountains over in Davos, the citizens of all of our nations don’t generally think of themselves as educated animals or as interchangeable cogs of a global economy.’

’Sacred Principle’

Moses. brings the Ten Commandments for the people to ratify
Moses. brings the Ten Commandments for the people to ratify

It might have come as a shock to those assembled, and to some of our judges, but the US Vice-President regards the thoughts and concerns of ordinary people as valid and worthy of consideration.
‘Democracy rests on the sacred principle that the voice of the people matters. There’s no room for firewalls. You either uphold the principle, or you don’t. Europeans—the people—have a voice.’

The ‘firewalls’ refers to the German elite ostracising the elected members of the AfD, of course. But does democracy rest on a ‘sacred principle’? I think it does. The people have to give their assent to those who rule.

When Moses brought the words of the Covenant given by the Almighty down from Mount Sinai, we read it was essential that it was ratified by the people. Three times in the book of Exodus, in chapter nineteen and twice in chapter twenty-four, we read of the democratic assent of the people, culminating in this:

Exod 24:7 And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient.

Fear not

J D Vance finished by quoting the late Pope John Paul II, a prominent supporter of democracy in his native Poland, who once said:
‘“Do not be afraid.”

‘We shouldn’t be afraid of our people, even when they express views that disagree with their leadership.’

It was the Lord Jesus who said ‘Fear not’ first, many times, but it is a constant theme in scripture and it depends on faith and love of God:
1John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear:

But actually, the arrogant European elites do have reason to fear their people. They know that the people have had enough of them. They are afraid of losing their positions in elections.

There is one higher than they

They will most likely ignore the witness of Mr Vance, and carry on just the same. Yet scripture says, in Ecclesiastes:

Eccl 5:8 If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.

Do not be afraid of them, because we have sure promises from the Lord on high. Here is his attitude towards those who deny the rule of King Jesus, from Psalm two and verse four:
Psalm 2:4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

How do we know that the arrogant will fall? From, for example, Psalm seventy-six:
Psalm 76:12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.

From Mary’s Magnificat in Luke chapter one:
Luke 1:51 He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
Luke 1:52 He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.

Which itself is based solidly on the whole witness of scripture, for example, here in psalm one hundred and forty-seven:
Psalm 147:6 The LORD lifteth up the meek: he casteth the wicked down to the ground.

’Turbo-smug ruling class’

And that is why the speech of the humble boy from ‘dirt-poor origins’ went down so ‘unequivocally badly’ with ‘Europe’s turbo-smug ruling class’.

Church covers communion table with ‘divisive progressive flag’ against canon law

Sunderland Minster
Sunderland Minster

Sunderland Minster has re-ignited controversy over the direction of the Anglican communion by covering its communion table with a  divisive trans flag. This violation of canon law is also a corruption of Christian worship.

The Communion table, intended to remind worshippers of the Lord’s supper, was draped with a flag representing an ideology that conflicts with biblical teaching. Such an act of defiance against church law highlights the growing influence of the sort of secular ideologies within the Church of England which have impaired its communion with sister churches in the developing world.

The ‘Progress Pride flag’ is an innovation of the homosexual six-colour ‘Rainbow’ flag incorporating additional colours intended to symbolise ‘transgender, intersex, and racial diversity.’ It is now widely associated with triumphalist ‘woke’ ideology.

Brendan O’Neill at Spiked Online wrote, ‘It might not be the flag of a conquering foreign army, but it is the flag of a conquering elite’.

Divisive flag ‘not a Christian emblem’

The Church of England’s own courts have ruled that the flag is not a Christian emblem and should not be used. Yet Rev. Jacqui Tyson ignored this ruling and proudly displayed it on the Communion table in Sunderland Minster’s Bede Chapel.

Her decision in the face of the Canon Law ruling directly contradicts the biblical commandment to honour God alone and not to serve the idols of the world.

Exodus 20:3: Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Ms Tyson defended her move by declaring it meant the church is ‘open to all,’ but that is obviously not true. Displaying the flag is a secularist political statement. Sign our petition:

Stop Transgenderism Now!

A distortion of true inclusion

The defence of this unbiblical act was framed under the guise of inclusion. However, as theologian Rev. Dr. Ian Paul has pointed out, the claimed inclusivity is actually exclusionary. It alienates Christians who uphold biblical teachings on gender and sexuality. By imposing the Progress Pride flag on worshippers, the church sends a message that those who do not embrace gender ideology are unwelcome.

The true nature of inclusion, according to Scripture, is found in Christ, who invites all to come to Him in repentance and faith. The Communion table itself is already the greatest symbol of inclusivity, as it represents Christ’s sacrifice for all people regardless of background. To suggest that it needs additional adornments to be welcoming distorts its divine meaning and purpose.

The Bible warns of a time when churches will abandon sound doctrine to please the world:
2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears.

When church leaders forsake biblical teachings in favour of human ideologies, they betray their duty as stewards of God’s Word.

Violating canon law and biblical commands

The Church of England has rules regarding what can be placed on the Communion table. Canon law mandates it should only be covered with a white cloth of silk or another suitable material. The ruling (above) from the Diocese of Leicester in 2024 reaffirmed that the ‘Progress Pride’ flag does not meet these standards.

The decision to drape the flag is not a minor infraction, it is a direct challenge to the church’s own governing laws. If the established church disregards these regulations in favour of contemporary political trends, what other essential doctrines will be compromised next? The erosion of church discipline leads to the dilution of faith, which ultimately weakens the body of Christ.

Deuteronomy 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.

Nor is display of the flag an act of love. True Christian love means guiding people toward truth, not affirming them in confusion. Jesus never compromised on truth for the sake of cultural acceptance, and neither should His followers.

Romans 12:2: Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

A call to return to biblical truth

In these times of cultural confusion, the Christian Church must remain steadfast in biblical truth:

John 8:32: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Believers must hold church leaders accountable and call them back to the Christian faith. The Scriptures provide clear guidance on how we should live, worship, and uphold God’s commands. It is time for churches to reject worldly influences and return to the unwavering truth of God’s Word.

The scandal at Sunderland Minster is more than just a debate about a flag—it is a battle for the soul of the church in our land. The Anglican Communion is already divided, with the woke West preferring compromise over homosexuality to unity with the global South.

Will it return to the foundation of Christ, or continue to compromise with secularism?

The answer could determine not just the future of Christianity in our land, but our survival as a constitutionally Christian nation with all our historic freedoms and blessings.

New health minister believes people can identify as llamas

Is the new minister of health a llama? The Government have appointed a woman to the post who believes people should be allowed to self-identify as llamas.

Ashley Dalton’ appointment was announced after offensive messages that emerged as part of a widening WhatsApp scandal, replacing sacked MP Andrew Gwynne.

In the hours following the announcement of Ms. Dalton’s new role, her views on self-identification resurfaced, with tweets dating back to 2016 revealing her belief that people should be allowed to identify as llamas.

A health minister who denies biology

Ashley Dalton, UK Health minister
Llama

The appointment of Ashley Dalton as the new junior health minister exposes the deep grip of trans extremism within the Labour Party. Her radical stance on gender and species identification raises serious concerns about the party’s commitment to scientific truth and rational policy-making.

In a now-infamous 2016 Twitter now X exchange, Ms. Dalton insisted that those who identify as llamas should be treated with “respect and dignity.” While respect is fundamental, equating self-identification with biological reality is a step into dangerous absurdity.

The Bible warns against such folly in Romans 1:22: Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.
The government’’s continued embrace of such ideology demonstrates not wisdom, but a reckless abandonment of common sense.

Wes Streeting’s role in gender chaos

Wes Streeting, Secretary of State and Social Care.
Wes Streeting, Secretary of State and Social Care.

The responsibility for Dalton’s appointment does not rest solely with Keir Starmer. As the shadow health secretary turned Secretary of State for Health, Wes Streeting has been a leading advocate for the ideological capture of public health policies.

His complicity in hiring a minister who disregards biological sex raises serious concerns about his judgment. Ashley Dalton was previously his Parliamentary Private Secretary, his personal aide in the Commons.

Mr. Streeting, who has previously declared his full support for trans activism, has helped pave the way for individuals like Dalton to gain political influence. Proverbs 29:12 warns:  If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.
By enabling such extremism, Streeting is actively undermining the credibility of health policy in the UK.

The attack on single-sex spaces

The new Health Secretary’s radical views extend beyond gender identity and into policy changes that threaten women’s safety. She has openly advocated for the complete abolition of single-sex bathrooms and changing rooms, arguing that self-identification should override all considerations of privacy and security.

This mirrors the ideological push that has led to male offenders being housed in women’s prisons—a policy endorsed by Labour figures such as Lisa Nandy. Such reckless policies contradict God’s clear design for biological distinction, as outlined in Genesis 1:27: So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Labour’s agenda seeks to erase this distinction, with dangerous consequences for women’s rights and public safety.

The dangers of denying reality

This government’s flirtation with trans extremism is not merely an abstract debate; it has real-world implications. When a government official rejects biological facts, they risk shaping policies that are detached from reality, ultimately harming the very people they claim to support.

The idea that someone can change their species is a stark reminder of where unchecked ideological pandering can lead.

2 Timothy 4:3 warns of a time when people “will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears.”

This government has surrounded itself with individuals who refuse to acknowledge basic truths, ensuring that their policies will be driven not by facts, but by ideological fanaticism.

A party that cannot be trusted

All Labour’s attempts to present itself as a moderate party on the “trans” debate, Dalton’s appointment reveals the opposite. This is the same party whose leader, Keir Starmer, once speculated that one in 1,000 women might have a penis. It is the same party that stood by Dawn Butler when she declared that children are born without a sex.

The Bible speaks against leaders who mislead their people in Isaiah 3:12: As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
This government’s leadership is actively leading the country down a path of confusion and instability.

The need for truth and accountability

As Ms. Dalton takes up her role in the Department of Health, the public must demand accountability. The UK cannot afford health policies dictated by individuals who reject biological reality. Instead, we need leaders grounded in truth, who prioritise evidence-based policies over ideological delusions.

John 8:32 says; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
The first step toward restoring sanity in public policy is to challenge and reject the radical extremism that has taken hold of the country.
The British public must not remain silent while their government abandons reality for the sake of ideological conformity.

Declaring yourself a woman doesn’t make you “biologically female”

Pro-Transgender ‘Pride Flag’ painted on a walkway at NHS Princess Royal Hospital, Orpington, England.

An employment tribunal has heard that a ‘transgender’ doctor had the right to use a female changing room under a health board’s equality and diversity policy.

Nurse Sandie Peggie took NHS Fife and Dr Beth Upton to tribunal after she was suspended over an incident in the female changing room in Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.

Ms Peggie objected to having to share the room with Dr Upton – a ‘trans woman’ – and claims her treatment amounted to unlawful harassment under the Equality Act.

Clinical nurse manager Esther Davidson told the tribunal that she took advice on the matter and was told the doctor had a right to use the female changing facilities.

Ms Davidson initially led an investigation after Dr Upton made a complaint of bullying and harassment against the nurse. But she was removed from it about two months later when it was recognised that she would be a witness, and the probe was restarted.

Ms Davidson was not Ms Peggie’s direct line manager, however, she oversaw complaints in the department. The two had worked together for 30 years.

The collapse of truth

“For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.” – 2 Timothy 4:3

In a society where truth is increasingly sacrificed at the altar of ideology, the case of Dr. Beth Upton stands as a glaring example. When a trained medical professional, someone entrusted with people’s health, declares himself to be ‘biologically female’ despite all scientific evidence to the contrary, it signals a profound corruption of reason. This is not merely a debate about personal identity; it is a rejection of the most fundamental biological truths.

During a tribunal in Edinburgh, Dr. Upton argued that he had every right to use the women’s changing rooms at his hospital, despite being a biological male. His assertion that ‘biological male and female have no defined or agreed meaning in science’ is not only factually incorrect but also deeply concerning. If a doctor, whose profession is built upon the understanding of human anatomy, can make such claims, what does this say about the state of modern medicine?

Upton’s presence in a female-only space made nurse Sandie Peggie deeply uncomfortable, yet when she voiced her concerns, she was the one who faced consequences. The fact that she was suspended for simply stating a biological fact is an alarming sign of the times. We have entered an era where the truth is punishable, and deception is rewarded.

The Bible warns against this distortion of truth. When society begins to reject fundamental realities, chaos follows. Isaiah 5:20 cautions, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness.” This case is a living example of that warning.

Women’s spaces under siege

For decades, women have fought for the right to have their own private spaces—changing rooms, bathrooms, shelters—safe from male intrusion.

The Bible says,
Matthew 19:4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female.

Now, under the guise of ‘inclusion,’ those hard-won rights are being stripped away. The incident at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy is just one of many where a woman has been told to silence her discomfort to accommodate a man’s delusion.

Sandie Peggie’s distress is not irrational; it is rooted in biological reality and centuries of lived female experience. Women have good reason to be wary of men in their private spaces. Yet, instead of acknowledging this concern, the system punished her, reinforcing the idea that women’s rights must always come second to the demands of transgender activists.

This reversal of priorities is not just happening in hospitals. Women’s prisons, sports, and even domestic violence shelters are being infiltrated by biological men who claim to be female. Each time women speak out, they are ridiculed or silenced. The irony is bitter: the very spaces created to protect women are now being weaponised against them.

God designed men and women uniquely. The attempt to blur this line is not just a political issue; it is a spiritual one.

1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

When society rejects the truth of male and female, it invites confusion, disorder, and ultimately, harm.

A doctor’s duty betrayed

A doctor’s primary duty is to care for patients, to act in their best interests, and to respect their needs and boundaries. Yet, Dr. Upton has made it clear that he does not feel obliged to inform patients of his transgender status. He believes that if a patient wants to see a biological woman, they must explicitly request one.

The Bible says in Proverbs 25:26 Like a muddied spring or a polluted fountain is a righteous man who gives way before the wicked.

This is a gross violation of medical ethics. A patient should never be forced into an uncomfortable situation, especially in vulnerable circumstances such as medical examinations. It is deeply manipulative to withhold relevant information under the guise of ‘privacy,’ while expecting the patient to challenge what they instinctively know to be untrue.

Many women, particularly those from religious or cultural backgrounds that emphasise modesty, specifically seek female doctors. To ignore their wishes is not just deceitful—it is abusive. Medical professionals are meant to serve their patients, not force ideological compliance upon them.

The Bible speaks clearly against deceit and dishonesty. Proverbs 12:22 says, The Lord detests lying lips, but He delights in people who are trustworthy. Upton’s refusal to be honest with patients is an act of deception that betrays the sacred trust between doctor and patient.

The persecution of truth-tellers

“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” – Ephesians 5:11

Perhaps the most chilling aspect of this entire debacle is the punishment of Sandie Peggie for speaking the truth. She had the courage to state what should be obvious: that Upton is a man. For that, she was suspended from her job.

The silencing of truth-tellers is a hallmark of authoritarian regimes. When free speech is stifled, when objective reality is punished, society descends into moral decay. Today, the UK is seeing nurses, teachers, and ordinary citizens lose their livelihoods for refusing to submit to ideological falsehoods.

This culture of fear is designed to make people comply, not because they believe, but because they are terrified of the consequences. It is a deliberate strategy to suppress dissent, ensuring that only one narrative is permitted. It is not enough to ‘respect’ Upton’s beliefs—everyone must affirm them, or else face professional ruin.

Yet, the Bible commands us to stand firm in truth, even in the face of persecution. No matter the cost, truth must be spoken.
John 8:32 says, And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

The consequences of a society built on lies

The rise of gender ideology and its assault on biological reality is not an isolated phenomenon; it is symptomatic of a broader societal collapse. When lies are enforced and truth is punished, civilization itself begins to crumble.

Psalm 11:3 If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?

The Upton case is just one example of how far the madness has spread. It is no longer enough for people to quietly tolerate transgender ideology; they must actively participate in it. Women must accept men in their spaces. Patients must accept deception from their doctors. The public must accept that truth is whatever the ruling class decides it to be.

This cannot last. A society built on lies will inevitably fall. The rejection of truth leads to confusion, moral decay, and ultimately, destruction. As Christians, we must stand against this tide, upholding God’s design for humanity. “Be on guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.” (1 Corinthians 16:13). Now more than ever, the battle for truth must be fought.

Why the NHS is a law unto itself

0
Wes Streeting MP
Wes Streeting MP

Health Secretary the Rt Hon. Wes Streeting MP has attacked the NHS over its diversity schemes.

Dr Florencia Gysbertha
Dr Florencia Gysbertha

He said a member of staff boasted of her ‘anti-whiteness’ as part of what he called a ‘daft’ Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) agenda. She’s Dr Florencia Gysbertha, a psychologist, who, when she moonlights, charges £100 per session for her ‘counselling’.

“The ideological hobby horses need to go,” the Health Secretary continued. As indeed have all Dr Florencia’s posts on LinkedIn.

Not that Mr Streeting is against EDI, which in fact promotes not equality but division, not diversity but conformity and not inclusion but exclusion of Christians and, frankly, anyone with a brain. He merely says the “misguided” agendas are setting back EDI’s ungodly cause.

35 EDI roles have been advertised since Sir Keir Starmer’s Government took power. That is one every week. Some posts offered salaries of more than £80,000.

Wes Streeting-Secretary of State for Health and Social Care of the United Kingdom.

Between them, these unbiblical roles paid out more than £750,000, which could have funded more than 600 new hospital beds.

Previous Health Secretary Steve Barclay MP carried out the analysis. During his time as Tory health secretary he ordered NHS chiefs not to create specialist inclusion roles. He had no better results than will Mr Streeting. They need to repent and put God first:

Cass report ignored

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust posted an advert for an EDI geek on the very same day that the Wes made his speech.

It has “pay enhancements”, an “excellent pension” and the ability to work from home, you’ll be glad to know. Indeed, NHS Trusts have even ignored the Cass Report into the shameful abuse carried out by gender outfits like the Tavistock.

That has now closed, only for NHS trusts to be opening six new Son of Tavistock children’s gender clinics by 2026. Figures released just yesterday have revealed that the mutilation of ‘top surgery’, where evil surgeons remove young women’s healthy breasts, is currently being inflicted by NHS Trusts on one thousand young women a year.

“NHS trusts self-governing”

Why is such monstrosity taking place? Why do these NHS Trusts appear to act as if they are a law unto themselves? It’s because they are.

The National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990 made NHS trusts self-governing, responsible only to themselves. The Health and Social Care Act 2012 set up the NHS Commissioning Board which was then renamed NHS England (qv).

At a time of shocking depravity in ancient Israel, the very last verse of the Bible’s book of Judges complains:
Judges 21:25 In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did what was right in his own eyes.
Likewise, there is no king, in the shape of His Majesty’s Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, in the quangocracy of NHS Trusts.

The woke management

Every one of them does what is right in its woke management’s own eyes. It’s complete anarchy, and it goes without saying the Bible opposes that and stands for a rule of law, with rulers accountable to God and to the people.

The Bible says,
Exod 19:8 And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD.

Rom 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. … 4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good.
The Centurion commended for his faith by our Lord told him:

Luke 7:8 For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

Leadership and authority

When you are under authority, you have authority. Under the UK’s Christian constitution, King Charles rules under the authority of the King of kings, the Lord Jesus Christ. So the king has the Lord’s authority and the king’s ministers exercise that authority and are responsible to the king, to God and to the people for carrying it out.

But when they set up quasi-autonomous non-governmental organisations, QUANGOs, these are under no authority and ministers are able to evade responsibility for their actions. The Taxpayers’ Alliance listed nine hundred and fifty seven quangos in twenty-ten. Even then they employed 700,000 staff and cost the taxpayer, in one way or another, over £120 billion.

In Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, ministers appoint the directors of NHS trusts. But the king’s Health Secretary can’t appoint the members of NHS Trusts in England. That is in the gift of another quango, the NHS Trust Development Authority, which is part of yet another, NHS Improvement called NHS England.

Who appoints the directors of NHS England?

It’s a complete mystery. It’s thoroughly opache. All the Government will say is that such and such a person ‘has been appointed.’ By whom? Who knows?

Ministers like being able to say ‘it’s not my fault’. But in the case of the English NHS, the woke mud from its unbiblical absurdities is now sticking to Secretaries of State. Hence their bluster. But they are impotent.

They have no power over NHS Trusts. The only way they will regain it is by repealing most of the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990 and the 2012 Act and bringing all NHS Trusts back under the king’s control, as biblical rules of order demand. When Wes Streeting or Keir Starmer says they will do that, and scrap EDI, you will know they are serious.

Man arrested for burning the Quran

0

A man has been arrested for burning pages of the Quran, according to the Daily Mail.

The protest came just two days after Salwan Momika, a Swedish anti-Islam activist, was shot dead near Stockholm after he burned the Quran there in 2023.

The man in Manchester carried out his desecration of the book the Mohamedans regard as ‘noble’ next to the city’s Glade of Light Memorial which commemorates the victims of the 2017 Manchester Arena Muslim terrorist attack.

He also displayed an Israeli flag. The man was wearing a kippur, so he was Jewish. This was not a detail reported by the Mail.

A second man, apparently Muslim, tried to intervene, but failed to stop the protest.

‘This is what I think of your holy book’, yelled the protester, as page after burning page tumbled to the ground. The burning was live-streamed on social media by a number of people simultaneously.

Said video came to the attention of Greater Manchester Police. The man, 47, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of a ‘racially aggravated public order offence’. Greater Manchester Police Assistant Chief Constable Stephanie Parker told GB News: ‘We understand the deep concern this will cause within some of our diverse communities and are aware of a live video circulating.

‘We made a swift arrest at the time and recognise the right people have for freedom of expression, but when this crosses into intimidation to cause harm or distress we will always look to take action when it is reported to us.’

Support Christian Voice →

The problem

Firstly, let me make clear I am of course far too polite to insult someone’s religious faith in that way, or indeed at all. For clarity, let me also explain the laws of England and Wales only have one blasphemy law, in Section 74 of the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008 . It’s called ‘Hatred on the grounds of sexual orientation.’

Section 79 of the same Act, since you ask, abolished the Christian common law offences of blasphemy and blasphemous libel, so Christians now have to take to the streets when our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, is insulted or blasphemed.

Which is what Christian Voice did in 2006 over Jerry Springer the Opera , to great effect, by the grace of God, also in St Andrews over the play Corpus Christi, against the Sunday Mirror, and against the South Wales Echo.

There is no Islamic blasphemy law in any United Kingdom legal jurisdiction. So there are several troubling things about the Manchester Police response.

Ask us to come and speak at your church →

Firstly, the arrest on suspicion of a ‘racially aggravated public order offence’. You are probably way ahead of me. Islam is a religion, not a race. So an action against the Mohamedan heresy cannot be ‘racially aggravated’.

Secondly, the Stephanie says ‘We made a swift arrest at the time’. No you didn’t. Your boys in blue were not even there. You only sprung into action after the video came to your attention.

She says they ‘recognise the right people have for freedom of expression’. That’s nice, she should stop there, but you just know there is a ‘but’ coming. ‘but when this crosses into intimidation to cause harm or distress we will always look to take action when it is reported to us.’

The guy intimidated no-one. And by the way, I was not aware the followers of Mohamed were that easily intimidated. Their recent anti-Semitic marches, their routine violence at Speakers Corner, shows them anything but. Quick to take brutal offence, more like.

Lastly, her reference to ‘diverse communities’ gives the game away. There is a spiritual dimension here. If I may mix religious metaphors, the Jewish guy has offended the establishment’s sacred cow of multiculturalism.

Prefer to watch my analysis? here is the video.

A bit like some of the Southport protesters, asking, in colourful language, what place ‘Allah’ has in our land, the protester says the religion of Islam is not part of our way of life. He has done that in a way which carries great personal risk. The police should be protecting him, not arresting him, frankly.

But he has challenged an elite idea. And the sentences handed down in last summer’s display of two-tier justice show how the British state deals with that kind of insurrection.

Just for clarity, It is Jesus Christ who is Lord and King over our land, not multiculturalism, nor Islam.

As it is written:

Php 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow.

Rev 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

Proclamation of that constitutional truth by our elites is the only way they will secure peace and stability in our land. Pray for them.

No, Angela, Prince Andrew is not a ‘nonce’

4

According to a new book on the Labour Party, Angela Rayner described the Duke of York as a “nonce” as she lobbied for him to be stripped of his official duties after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Angela Rayner
Angela Rayner

A “nonce” is a colloquial term for a paedophile. Some believe the word is an acronym of “Not On Normal Courtyard Exercise”, supposedly displayed on the doors of prisoners who should be kept away from other inmates for their own safety. Convicts, just like some of us, are keen to have those they can look down
upon.

But does the Duke of York fit into that category, as the Angela contends?

Virginia Roberts Giuffre

She was referring, of course, to alleged encounters between the Prince and one Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who claims to have had intimate relations with him three times when she was seventeen. She sent a text to a friend boasting about
it.

Carolyn Andriano says: “I asked her if she’d been to the palace. And she said ‘I got to sleep with him’. She didn’t seem upset about it. She thought it was pretty cool.”

Virginia Giuffre was actually a prostitute, and according to the sister of her former boyfriend, she also recruited other girls for Jeffrey Epstein. She was no innocent party. Now seventeen might be under-age in a handful of US states, but most set the age of consent at sixteen. It is sixteen in the United Kingdom.

Support Christian Voice →

Age or State of consent?

The Bible, interestingly, does not specify an age of consent, only a state of consent, which is holy matrimony. The Statute of Westminster first brought in the concept of an age of consent in these islands in twelve seventy-five. It stood at twelve years of age, more or less, until eighteen eighty-five, when it was raised to sixteen.

If Prince Andrew did sleep with Ms Giuffre, which he denies, then he was a fornicator, a whoremonger, and a fool.

Although to flee fornication, as the Bible commands, when an attractive young woman is throwing herself at you, needs not just the Christian faith, but the grace of God as well. You might not see evidence of either in the Duke of York. But he was not a paedophile. He was not a ‘nonce’, as the Rayner insult would have it. Watch the video here:

Arrogant, insensitive, but a war hero

I am not hoisting a flag for the Duke of York. The reports, even from his own late father, cast him as an arrogant, insensitive man who looks down on ordinary people.

The Royal family were once watching Coronation Street. ‘Oh God, look at all those common people,’Andrew shouted. Prince Philip gave him a rocket. ‘If it wasn’t for people like that,’ he said, ‘you would not be sitting here.’

He was less than convincing, or even empathetic, in his ill-advised Emily Maitlis interview.

On the other hand, he is a war hero, who bobbed up and down in a helicopter being a lure for Exocet missiles during the Falklands War.

What does the Bible say?

Politicians, leaders, are supposed, according to the Bible’s specification in Exodus 18 and verse 21, to be ‘able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness’.

Did you spot that: able, humble ‘men of truth’. Not arrogant, but not slanderers or attention seekers either.

The Bible says:
Lev 19:16 Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people

Maybe the Angela likes to have someone she can look down upon, just like those lags in jail. But I just don’t see scripture saying that is a qualification for high office, do you?

Nurse can refer to ‘transwoman’ doctor as a man in legal victory

0
Sandie Peggie
Sandie Peggie

In a landmark employment tribunal ruling, nurse Sandie Peggie has secured a crucial victory in her case against NHS Fife-Scotland, according to the Telegraph. The decision underscores concerns about compelled speech, women’s rights, and the NHS’s approach to gender ideology in the workplace.

Despite the NHS’s insistence that Dr. Beth Upton, a “transgender-identifying doctor”, must be referred to as a woman, Judge Sandy Kemp ruled that: “forcing Ms. Peggie to use female pronouns would be unfair”- acknowledging that Ms. Peggie and her legal team consider these terms inaccurate. Sign our Petition:

Stop Transgenderism Now!

The tribunal’s ruling now allows Ms. Peggie to refer to Dr. Upton as male, provided it is not done gratuitously or offensively.

NHS’s overreach in enforcing pronoun usage

The case brings into sharp focus the health service’s overreach in enforcing gender ideology at the expense of personal freedoms and its failure to uphold women’s rights to single-sex spaces. The NHS’s insistence that Dr. Upton’s “sex and gender” are female, and that any “misgendering” constitutes unlawful harassment, reflects a public policy which has lost touch with reality.

The NHS argued that misgendering Dr. Upton constituted unlawful harassment, a position the tribunal rejected.

The Bible says,
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

’Misgendering’ is not ‘harrassment’

For years, the NHS has adopted increasingly rigid policies on gender identity, with staff often compelled to affirm self-declared gender identities over biological sex. This case marks a significant challenge to these policies.

Judge Kemp stated that: “While misgendering might cause “pain and distress”, it does not automatically amount to harassment in a legal setting”. This decision is a significant moment for free speech, as it challenges the notion that stating biological facts can be criminalised or sanctioned in the workplace.

This ruling is not just about pronouns—it is about the broader implications of compelled speech. While politeness in discourse is a matter of personal choice, compelling someone to speak against their beliefs under threat of legal action sets a dangerous precedent.

Women’s rights and the battle for single-sex spaces

A central issue in Ms. Peggie’s case is the continued presence of Dr. Upton, a biological male, in female-only changing rooms at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. Ms. Peggie reported encountering Dr. Upton on three occasions, expressing discomfort with having to undress in front of a male colleague.

This situation demonstrates that “transgender” policies can be used to erode women’s rights. The tribunal’s ruling raises critical questions about safeguarding, particularly in settings where women expect privacy and security. Should a female nurse be forced to change in front of a biological male? Should her discomfort be dismissed in favour of gender ideology?

The UK’s Equality Act 2010 allows for the protection of single-sex spaces, yet the NHS’s policies seem to disregard these provisions in favour of gender identity. This case could set a precedent for future disputes over access to female-only spaces in workplaces, hospitals, and beyond.

Historically, women have fought hard for sex-based protections, including the right to single-sex spaces in hospitals, shelters, and prisons. This case echoes past battles where institutions attempted to suppress biological realities in favour of ideological compliance. It is crucial that the NHS reassesses its policies to ensure they do not trample over the rights and dignity of female staff and patients. Godly men will agree:

1Pet 3:7 … giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, …

Stop Transgenderism Now!

NHS gender ideology is undimmed

This is not the first time NHS policies prioritising gender ideology over biological reality have sparked controversy. In recent years, the NHS has been embroiled in scandals surrounding the treatment of ‘gender dysphoria’ in children, particularly at the now-shuttered Tavistock Gender Clinic.

Dr. Hillary Cass
Dr. Hillary Cass

The Cass Review, an independent report into NHS gender services, found that many young people were rushed into medical transitions without sufficient psychological assessment. The report condemned the ideological bias within the NHS and called for a more evidence-based approach.

However, NHS gender ideologues have ploughed on regardless, with ‘Son of Tavistock’ clinics springing up like the mythical Hydra’s heads.

NHS Trusts are a law unto themselves

Similarly, this tribunal case exposes the NHS’s tendency to enforce ideological conformity, even at the expense of its own staff. The decision to discipline a nurse for using biologically accurate language reflects a deeper institutional problem. The NHS must ask itself: Is it here to provide healthcare or to enforce a political ideology?

This case serves as a reminder that institutions must be held accountable when they sacrifice scientific integrity and employee rights on the altar of political correctness.

The Telegraph reports the NHS is hiring dozens of diversity jobs despite an order to crack down. Wes Streeting, the Health Secretary, said yesterday the NHS must go “back to basics”. He vowed not to let “ideologues” stand in the way of improving its performance. But he has no power to enforce that.

His predecessor, Steve Barclay, ordered NHS chiefs not to create specialist inclusion roles in 2023 during his time as Tory health secretary. NHS bosses refused to follow his instructions. The National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990 made NHS trusts self-governing, and responsible only to themselves.

A Biblical perspective: Truth, respect, and women’s safety

For many just like Christian Voice, this debate is not just about policy—it is about fundamental truth. The Bible teaches that truth and respect must go hand in hand.

Genesis 1:27 says: “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” This verse affirms the reality of biological sex.

Ephesians 4:25 urges believers to “speak the truth with our neighbour.” Ms. Peggie’s insistence on biological accuracy aligns with the biblical command to uphold truth in all circumstances.

Deuteronomy 22:5 says: “A woman shall not wear a man’s garment, nor shall a man put on a woman’s cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord.” This reflects the long-standing distinction between the sexes in biblical teachings.

At the same time, the Bible commands love and respect for all people. 1 Peter 2:17 states: “Show proper respect to everyone.” While individuals are entitled to their beliefs about gender, this does not mean they must be forced to speak against their conscience. The balance between respect and truth must always be maintained.

A victory for women, but a warning for the NHS

Ms. Peggie’s tribunal victory is a win for free speech, women’s rights, and the recognition of biological reality. However, the ruling only applies within the tribunal proceedings—meaning the broader battle over compelled speech and gender ideology in the NHS is far from over.

Pro-Transgender ‘Pride Flag’ painted on a walkway at NHS Princess Royal Hospital, Orpington, England.

The NHS must rethink its approach to gender policies. It must respect the rights of its female employees, safeguard single-sex spaces, and ensure that staff are not forced to comply with ideologically driven mandates. This case could serve as a precedent for future legal challenges, as more employees push back against policies that erode biological truths and women’s safety.

The battle for truth, fairness, and women’s rights continues—and this ruling is just the beginning.

Christian Voice in Uganda

Your prayers and support have enabled a blessed week of doors opening and divine appointments in Kampala.

Overnight to Kampala

The ‘jam’ in Kampala. (Actually, we were all waiting for the Presidential convoy to pass.)

Judy and I travelled overnight by coach from Nakuru in Kenya to Kampala in Uganda arriving on Monday morning, 20th January 2025. On arrival, we met with Rev Martin Ssempa, a staunch opponent of the homosexual agenda for many years. We watched the Trump inauguration together.

On Tuesday lunchtime we welcomed our Burundi Christian Voice co-ordinator, Héroïne, to Kampala, to observe events. We had a meeting with Christian leaders arranged for the next day by this point, and a TV interview, but no meetings with MPs.

Then, in the late afternoon, all the doors opened in perfect sequence, as they were always going to, by God’s grace. We just need faith in these situations.

Church Meeting

Poster for the Meeting at Gospel Revealed Ministry on 22nd Jan 2025

So it was that on Wednesday morning I was able to share with young Christian leaders at Gospel Revealed Ministry at the invitation of Rev Steve Lipsey and DJ Victor.

I was enabled to explain how the spiritual battle in Uganda has shifted with the enactment of the Anti-Homosexuality Act 2023. The antichrist, Western-funded NGOs have moved their attention to Comprehensive Sexuality Education (like our RSE, but even worse).

Parents, just the same as in the UK, need to find out what their children are being taught, because NGOs like Plan International are ready to foist their CSE teaching materials onto schools and local teachers, like Greeks bearing gifts.

UK’s FCDO is funding evil

WATCH THE INTRO CLIP

I was also able to share that our very own UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has instituted a £40million programme to promote homosexuality throughout the developing world. That is on top of the money pouring in from other Western governments and ungodly foundations (Open Society, Ford Foundation, Sigrid Rausing Trust, Bill & Melinda Gates and too many others to mention).

Also operating across Uganda is Marie Stopes International (MSI). MSI are known to perform illegal abortions in their 14 Ugandan centres. And on their website, who do they say is subidising their abortions? Step forward the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFP) and the FCDO.

So there is much for Ugandans to do in forming a locally-based, locally-funded Christian Voice affiliate, identifying Satan’s spiritual strongholds, praying against their activities, keeping a watch on the schools where their children are taught, and praying for their leaders to be able, humble men who love truth and hate bribery and corruption.

In the afternoon, we were whisked across Kampala to the Parliament of Uganda. We met with Hon Elijah Okupa MP, who graciously introduced us to some of his colleagues.

We were able to explain the depth of the battle they are still engaged in to ensure the young people of Uganda are not corrupted, and to pray for the Honourable Members and encourage them to stand for the truth of God’s word.

Next, Héroïne, Judy and I were all taken to the public gallery of the Chamber, where we were recognised by name by the Deputy Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament and applauded by honourable members. We each stood and bowed in response. How cool is that?

By your support, you enabled and participated in all of that.

Meeting with David Bahati

With Rt Hon David Bahati MP: Judy is second right.
With Rt Hon David Bahati MP: Judy is second right.

To cap an extraordinary day, we received an invitation to meet the Hon David Bahati MP, Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives (Industry).

Hon David is well-known to Western LGBT activists as the man who brought in the first Anti-Homosexuality Bill in 2009. The courts ruled it unconstitutional but Mr Bahati persevered and a version of the Bill was finally enacted by President Yoweri Museveni on 26th May 2023.

As a result of his efforts, David Bahati was vilified by the US under Barack Obama and Joe Biden, and by the UK, Canada and the EU. He was disinvited to the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C in 2010, and banned by the UK Government. He really is a tough, humble man of God, raised up for such a time as this. It was a privilege to be able to pray with him and for him. Once again, your prayers and support enabled that.

TV Interview

On Thursday morning, I was invited by Pastor Tonny Muhumuza on Freedom TV for an hour. The subject of homosexuality came up again, with a young man texting in to ask if I could pray for him to be released from same-sex desires. Watch on YouTube:

The extent of our own national depravity may be gauged by current proposals to make it illegal to do just that in the UK. Also that we are now so busy arguing about trans ideology that even Christians in the UK seem to have forgotten that God made us male and female with marriage as his first social institution, that he destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for the rebellion of institutionalised sodomy and that the UK now has the same satanic ideology and our leaders need to repent and honour the King of kings.

A young woman was also in contact, to testify that she had been offered money by a no-doubt Western-funded homosexual group to become a lesbian. Once more, my prayer was that she would find strength in the Lord to resist that temptation, with the Psalm 1 assurance that the Lord would bless her obedience many times over.

That same evening (Thursday 23rd) found us back on the bus bound for Kisumu, Kenya. The immigration process in the border town of Busia at 1am, followed by the range of street food offered by people earning their living, needs to be experienced to be believed! Naturally, my visas, both applied for last minute, had earlier been approved, with God’s speed. Judy, being a Kenyan national, travels throughout East Africa visa-free.

So we are now in a modest but comfortable hotel in the small Kenyan town of Sondu with wonderful views of the Kericho hills soon preparing for tomorrow’s Kenya Christian Voice Conference (with three sessions) and then a Sunday service. I will only get through it in the Lord’s strength.

Please keep praying for us and supporting us, for the conference to be led and blessed by the Lord, and for him to continue to open doors for us next week before I return, God willing, to the UK on 1st February for West Ham Open-Air Prayer!

Lessons for the UK: Gender Clarity from Trump’s Leadership

Donald Trump giving his speech.
Donald Trump giving his speech.
Donald Trump giving his speech.
Donald Trump giving his speech.

President Donald Trump has declared that America recognises only two genders—male and female. This bold proclamation is not only a reaffirmation of biological truth but also a stance rooted in the timeless wisdom of the Bible.

The Bible says,
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

This verse underscores the divine intentionality in the creation of humanity as two distinct yet complementary genders.

The UK government can draw lessons from Trump’s courage to uphold basic truths in a time when confusion about gender identity is widespread. Policies that drift away from biological and biblical truth risk eroding societal stability and family values.

Proverbs 22:28 warns, Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set,  reminding us of the importance of preserving foundational principles.

Trump’s statement also challenges leaders to rise above cultural pressures. The UK must consider the importance of creating policies that align with both science and scripture, affirming the dignity and purpose of God’s creation.

Support Christian Voice →

Protecting children from ideological confusion

President Trump’s stance on gender reflects a commitment to protecting future generations from ideological confusion. In today’s world, children are increasingly exposed to ideas that challenge their understanding of identity.

Matthew 18:6 states, “But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” This severe warning highlights the responsibility of leaders to shield children from harmful influences.

The UK government should take note of the American approach, which prioritises clear and consistent messaging about gender in schools and public policies. By affirming traditional gender roles, leaders can create an environment where children grow up with a clear sense of identity and purpose.

Furthermore, safeguarding children involves resisting policies that promote confusion under the guise of inclusivity. Upholding biological and biblical truths about gender ensures that the next generation grows up rooted in clarity and confidence.

Restoring family values through policy

Donald Trump takes the Presidential Oath
Donald Trump takes the Presidential Oath

President Trump’s proclamation aligns with a broader call to restore and uphold family values. Ephesians 5:31 reminds us, “For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.” This vision of marriage and family is built on the distinct roles of male and female, working together to reflect God’s design.

The UK’s policies should prioritise strengthening families by embracing the natural and biblical distinctions between genders. When family units are weakened by confusion about identity, society suffers as a whole. Clear policies rooted in truth can provide a firm foundation for stronger families and communities.

Mr. Trump’s leadership highlights the role of government in supporting families through policies that align with biblical principles. By doing so, the UK can foster a culture of stability, growth, and moral clarity.

Courage in leadership

President Donald Trump’s bold stance required courage in the face of intense cultural opposition. Isaiah 41:10 declares, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.” Leaders are called to stand firm in truth, even when it is unpopular or controversial.

The UK government must exhibit similar bravery by promoting policies that affirm biological and biblical truths. In a society where moral relativism is prevalent, courageous leadership can guide the nation back to foundational principles. By standing firm, leaders can inspire confidence and unity among the people they serve.

The US president’s example reminds us that true leadership is not about pandering to cultural trends but about upholding eternal truths that benefit society as a whole.

A call to action for the UK

The UK government has an opportunity to learn from President Trump’s example by adopting policies that honour biblical and biological truths.
Psalm 33:12 declares, Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord

Nations that align their policies with God’s principles are more likely to experience blessings in terms of peace, prosperity, and moral clarity.

The UK must act decisively to restore clarity and truth in its policies on gender and identity. This involves revisiting laws and educational guidelines to ensure they reflect both scientific reality and biblical teachings. Leaders must recognise that societal stability is closely linked to adhering to the principles outlined in scripture.

President Trump’s leadership provides a blueprint for the UK to reclaim its moral foundation. By embracing truth, protecting children, and restoring family values, the UK can chart a path toward a stronger, more unified future. Let this be a rallying cry for leaders to act boldly and wisely, guided by the timeless truths of God’s Word.

Donald Trump – the Spiritual Dimension

5
Donald Trump takes the Presidential Oath
Donald Trump takes the Presidential Oath
Donald Trump takes the Presidential Oath
Donald Trump takes the Presidential Oath

Watching the inauguration of Donald Trump last night on TV in Kampala, Uganda, I could not help but be struck by how much the US ‘does God’ compared to the UK.

According to Al-Jazeera (!) the programme began with the President-elect attending the customary service at the nearby St John’s Episcopal Church.

Muslim pulled from programme

Before the 47th President and his Vice-President were sworn in, we saw an Invocation by Cardinal Timothy Dolan, archbishop of New York, and another from the Reverend Franklin Graham.

After President Trump’s speech, there was a Benediction first from Yeshiva University’s President Ari Berman, Senior Pastor Lorenzo Sewell of 180 Church Detroit and the Reverend Frank Mann of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn.

The programme (see the Al-Jazeera link above) had included a benediction from Imam Husham Al-Husainy of the Karbalaa Islamic Education Center. But Religion News reported the Muslim leader was pulled after Jewish groups pointed out his support for Hezbollah. He is, after all, a Muslim, and hatred of Jews is, as we have pointed out beforenot least in this video on Israel and Hamas, written into their religion.

The Spiritual Dimension

Pastor Lorenzo Sewell gives his benediction. Worth watching!
Pastor Lorenzo Sewell gives his benediction. Worth watching!

The Spiritual Dimension of including the Rabbi and excluding the Mohammedan is massive. It was a spiritual mis-step to invite the imam in the first place.

But we also note the inclusion of two Roman Catholic bishops and two Pentecostals (Lorenzo Sewell’s barnstorming benediction is well worth watching) but no-one from the Anglican Episcopal Church. That sent a message that liberal theology is not welcome in the court of President Trump.

Indeed, the Donald’s insistence in his own speech (read the transcript here) that ‘there are only two genders: male and female’, drew cheers from those watching both outside in the Washington cold and here in Kampala.

Trump Speech ‘did God’

Donald Trump giving his speech.
Donald Trump giving his speech.

It was Tony Blair’s spin-doctor, Alastair Campbell, who said that administration did not ‘Do God’. In truth, no political party nor any leader of one in the UK Parliament, except for the DUP, either does God or grasps the spiritual dimension of life in general or public life in particular. We call and pray for them to humble themselves and acknowledge the King of kings.

But the United States does God, in its moments of grief, when leaders’ ‘thoughts and prayers’, not just their ‘thoughts’, are always with those affected, in its inauguration ceremonies and swearing-ins, and especially in the speech given by President Trump.

This did not just include the obligatory ‘God bless America.’ Mr Trump insisted: ‘We are one people, one family and one glorious nation under God.’ He promised ‘We will not forget our Constitution, and we will not forget our God.’ Above all, he declared his life ‘was saved by God to make America great again’.

First Executive Orders

On the BBC website, their North America correspondent, Anthony Zurcher, reports that Donald Trump’s executive orders have already pulled the USA out of the World Health Organisation and the Paris Climate Accord. He will end the promotion of electric vehicles and ‘Drill, Baby, drill’.

In a record number of executive orders, he has ended ‘work from home’ for federal workers and repealed previous executive orders promoting diversity programs and LGBTQ equality. He is certain to reinstate the ‘Mexico City policy’, defunding IPPF and other promoters of abortion.

President Trump has pardoned 1,500 6th January 2021 demonstrators. In his speech he promised to ‘reinstate any service members who were unjustly expelled from our military for objecting to the Covid vaccine mandate with full backpay. And I will sign an order to stop our warriors from being subjected to radical political theories and social experiments while on duty’.

Celebrations across Africa, Asia and the Caribbean

J D Vance takes the Vice-Presidential Oath
J D Vance takes the Vice-Presidential Oath

Across the developing world, pro-life and pro-family activists have been celebrating. Donald Trump might not stop the flow of the promotion of evil from the West, from the EU, UK, Ireland and Skandinavia, but now there will at least be a counterbalance.

USAID, which was promoting wickedness under Joe Biden, is now under new management. All over the world, there will be new US Ambassadors. And if Donald Trump is followed by a two-term J D Vance, who knows?

Let us not forget, in his first term, it was the US Ambassador to Kenya who organised ten other countries to stand with him in condemning the pro-abortion agenda of the UNFPA and asserting there is no human right to abortion (or sodomy for that matter) in any internationsl human rights instrument. Read about that here. If Hilary Clinton had been elected in 2016 for the 2017-2020 term, that would not have happened.

A need for prayer

Much of what Donald Trump is doing and will do is a direct challenge to EU and especially to UK anti-biblical ‘wokeness’. He stands for freedom of speech and is horrified by the sort of ‘two-tier justice’ we saw after the Southport demonstrations.

President Trump, like every leader of every nation on earth, needs prayer for humility before the King of kings and wisdom. The Bible says:
Prov 15:33 The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.

He also needs prayer for protection physically, emotionally and spiritually. The enemy will be out to thwart and block him from enacting anything righteous that might bless his nation and bring prosperity and the Kingdom of God. As it is written:
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Government putting assisted dying ahead of social care

0
Sir Keir Starmer and Labour MP Kim Leadbeater.
Sir Keir Starmer and Labour MP Kim Leadbeater.

The current administration has announced a new commission that it hopes will build a ‘national consensus’ on social-care reform.

While framed as a step toward addressing critical issues, the reality is that its first report won’t arrive until 2028—conveniently close to the next general election. This delay epitomises a longstanding pattern: successive governments have promised reform while consistently kicking the issue down the road. For those relying on social care, these delays mean years of continued under-funding and uncertainty.

The government’s role in this inaction is particularly troubling. Despite its claims to champion the vulnerable, the party has opted for postponement over progress, effectively deferring responsibility to future administrations. This evasion raises questions about its commitment to tackling one of the UK’s most urgent social crises. If the government can’t prioritise care for its elderly and disabled citizens now, what does that say about its values?

Contrasting this sluggish approach with Labour’s push for assisted suicide legislation highlights a disturbing inconsistency. Why is there such urgency in debating life-ending policies while life-sustaining services languish? This discrepancy underscores a troubling set of priorities within government ranks.

The Bible says,
Matthew 5:21-22 Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgement.

Health and social care: Personal responsibility

The Bible emphasises that health and social care are primarily personal responsibilities. Individuals are encouraged to take proactive steps in maintaining their health and seeking help when needed. For instance, in Luke 8:43, the woman with the issue of blood demonstrates personal initiative by seeking healing from Jesus. This highlights the principle of self-accountability in addressing personal health concerns.

At the same time, the Bible stresses the family’s duty in providing care for its members. In Luke 4:38-40, Peter and his wife care for his sick mother-in-law at home, illustrating that family support is integral to well-being. Similarly, 1 Timothy 5:8 underscores the importance of familial care, stating that neglecting one’s family equates to a denial of faith. This underscores a biblically rooted expectation for families to prioritise care giving responsibilities.

Beyond individual and family obligations, the Bible also calls for a communal approach to social care. Leviticus 19:18b and 25:35-37 instruct communities to support the vulnerable, while Zechariah 7:9-10 and Mark 12:31-33 emphasise love, justice, and kindness toward neighbours. These passages outline a societal duty to ensure care and justice for those in need, highlighting the importance of collective responsibility.

However, the Bible does not explicitly advocate for publicly-funded care systems. Instead, it promotes voluntary acts of generosity and community support driven by love and compassion. This perspective frames healthcare and social care as responsibilities shared by individuals, families, and society, but not necessarily reliant on state-led funding or intervention.

Family and community care: Historical and global lessons

In many cultures today, especially in the developing world, caring for the elderly is a family-centered responsibility, with care homes being rare. This tradition reflects deep cultural and biblical values of honouring and supporting elders within families.

Historically, similar principles shaped European societies during the Middle Ages, where the church often stepped in to care for the vulnerable when families could not. The term “hospital” originates from “hospitality,” exemplified by the Knights Hospitaller, who provided care and shelter during the Crusades.

According to an article by Sarah Munson, faith-based initiatives like Alms Houses, started in York in 936 and offered care for the poor, sick, and elderly- demonstrating community-driven responsibility. These institutions laid the groundwork for modern welfare systems while embodying Christian values of compassion and support.

When Henry VIII sacked the monasteries, he destroyed the social care system of the time. As Sarah points out above (reference her article in yours), the first ‘Poor Law’ had to be brought in under Elizabeth I in 1601, to impose upon the parishes what the monasteries had been doing.

But it’s still within the Church. Even the 19th-century reformers (Shaftsbury, Barnardo) and all the hospital foundations (Tommy’s, Guy’s, St George’s, etc, etc) are still Christian. But then in the 20th Century the UK became secularised.

Should the government be looking after us all?

As we see in Britain, if the State decides to do health care (1948, Nye Bevan, NHS) let alone social care, it will soon run out of money. The UK is at the forefront of nations where the people have been conditioned, wrongly, to think that ‘the government’ should be looking after us all. This attitude gathered force during the Covid.

Care homes (per Sarah) became big business in the 1980s, and were cemented in by the 1990 NHS and Community Care Act.

So now the chickens have come home to roost, and a government which cannot afford social care, even relatives with an eye on the inheritance vanishing before their eyes in care home fees, would rather pressure the infirm and elderly to be put down as if they were a pet being ‘put out of its misery’.

So the UK needs repentance, not just of euthanasia, or ‘Assisted dying’, as in Kim Leadbeater’s ‘Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill’, but of this whole attitude that the State should look after us all, that children and old people are annoying things other people, especially ‘the government’ should look after.

The Ethical Divide

Social care reform poses fewer ethical dilemmas compared to assisted suicide. The overwhelming consensus is that care for the ill, elderly, and disabled should be universally accessible. Disagreements typically revolve around the logistics of funding and allocation rather than whether care itself is necessary. These challenges, while significant, are logistical—not moral.

Assisted suicide, on the other hand, introduces profound ethical concerns. The proposed legislation could fundamentally alter the relationship between doctors and patients, transforming caregivers into potential facilitators of death. This shift raises critical questions about trust and the role of medical professionals in preserving life.

Moreover, the bill’s lack of a conscientious-objection clause for doctors is unprecedented. In countries like Canada, where euthanasia is a leading cause of death, healthcare providers are mandated to participate regardless of personal beliefs. Importing such a framework to the UK risks alienating medical professionals and eroding public confidence in healthcare ethics.

Ask us to come and speak at your church →

Rushed legislation, poor oversight

The passage of the assisted suicide bill exemplifies governmental haste. After only five hours of parliamentary debate and 16 days for MPs to review one of the longest private members’ bills in history, the legislation raced through its second reading. This rushed process raises concerns about the quality and depth of scrutiny applied to such a transformative law.

Kim Leadbeater, the MP behind the bill, demonstrated limited understanding of its implications during debates. Coupled with a parliamentary committee dominated by proponents of assisted suicide, the bill is being pushed forward with minimal critical evaluation. Such hurried policy-making contrasts sharply with the slow progress on social care, revealing a glaring disparity in government priorities.

This expedited approach to a deeply controversial issue risks long-term consequences. By neglecting to thoroughly examine the ethical and practical ramifications, the government undermines public trust in its legislative process. Meanwhile, critical issues like social care continue to be sidelined.

Assisted suicide over care

The government’s focus on assisted suicide over social care exposes its skewed priorities. While Labour has been vocal about addressing social care, its inaction suggests otherwise. With assisted suicide legislation potentially becoming law by 2027, Labour seems more intent on facilitating death than improving life.

Tory MP Danny Kruger’s characterisation of the legislation as a “national suicide service” may seem hyperbolic, but it reflects legitimate concerns about the bill’s implications. By prioritising euthanasia, the government risks normalising death as a solution to societal failings, including inadequate care systems. This approach sends a bleak message to vulnerable populations: their lives are less valuable than the costs of sustaining them.

This disparity in urgency reveals a government more concerned with avoiding difficult decisions about social care funding than with genuinely addressing the needs of its citizens. The prioritisation of this bill is not just a policy choice—it’s a moral failing.

A self-inflicted crisis

The government’s handling of social care and assisted suicide reflects a broader trend of short-termism and moral ambiguity. By delaying social care reform while rushing through controversial assisted suicide legislation, Labour is creating a crisis of its own making. This approach not only alienates the public but also undermines the government’s credibility as a champion of vulnerable populations.

As belief in government competence erodes, so too does public trust in its ability to prioritise meaningful reforms. The delay in addressing social care reform exacerbates an already dire situation, leaving countless individuals without the support they need. In the meantime, the push for assisted suicide risks creating a society where life is undervalued.

If the government fails to address these issues with the seriousness they demand, it will not only fail those in need but also set a dangerous precedent for future policy-making.

The broader implications

The government’s skewed priorities have far-reaching implications. By sidelining social care reform, it risks deepening inequalities and perpetuating the suffering of those most in need. Meanwhile, the focus on assisted suicide raises troubling questions about society’s values and the role of government in safeguarding them.

This juxtaposition highlights a disturbing reality: the government is more willing to legislate for death than to invest in life. Such an approach not only alienates those it claims to serve but also undermines the moral fabric of society. If leaders cannot prioritise care for their citizens, how can they expect to build a more compassionate and equitable future?

The choice between social care and assisted suicide is not just a policy decision—it’s a reflection of societal values. By prioritising the latter, the government risks sending a message that some lives are not worth sustaining. This is a message that society cannot afford to accept.

This morning Judy and I travelled the 300 miles by train from Mombasa to Nairobi. (That’s the same as London to Ashington.) The train took six hours, but I could work on my laptop, at least in first class where we were. In case you think that was uber-posh, the fare was Ksh 4,500 each, that’s £28.50, less than London to Oxford standard class UK.

Swallows were hunting insects outside. It will be a couple of months before they think about migrating north to breed. People were growing sisal and maize, while the Masai were herding their goats, sheep and cattle along the way. There was not a deciduous tree in sight. The Equator passes through Kenya. Twice a year the noon-day sun passes directly overhead. This is the heart of the tropics.

Meeting with MP

We’ll value your prayers as we meet a senior member of parliament tomorrow in Nairobi. It’s a divine appointment.

On our agenda will be starting a prayer for parliament initiative. Please pray for that, of your kindness.

Above all, we are encouraging Kenyans to stand against Western evils, such as abortion, all shades of LGBT, easy divorce, CSE (UN-sponsored, even worse than UK-style RSE), climate fanaticism. You can stand with us:

Western money comes with strings

You would not believe how much money is flooding in from Western governments and foundations to local NGOs in Kenya for advocating and promoting Western evil. There is not a single one of those NGOs which is locally funded. Every single pro-LGBT, pro-CSE, pro-abortion, pro-‘green’ NGO in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean is funded from the West. There is of course little transparency over the funding.

On multiculturalism, at present big news in the UK, to say the least, at the coast (Mombasa) there is an uneasy tension. Muslims form around 41% of the population, but, as you might expect from the UK experience, they dominate political positions.

The Muslims are only kept in check by the forthright spirit-filled attitude of the bishops, pastors and born-again politicians, and the fact that Kenyan Christians heed the Bible’s command to ‘go forth and multiply’. The Muslims cannot outbreed us here!

God willing, we shall move to Uganda next week (20th to 24th Jan). Our local Uganda team, all volunteers, will be arranging TV & Radio, and we are waiting on the Lord for a meeting with MPs,

We’ll have similar intentions as with Kenya. In part because of the 1885/86 martyrs, when the king of Buganda executed 45 newly-converted Christian young men for refusing his sexual demands, Ugandans are even more firmly opposed to sodomy than Kenyans. Gay marriage? LGBT rights? Don’t even get them started. They see the spiritual dimension.

Finally, returning to Kenya, we have a conference arranged in Sondu, Kisumu/Kericho Co., for 25th/26th. Sondu is 300 miles from Nairobi in the opposite direction from Mombasa.

(Kenya is a big country. It enjoys more than twice the area of the UK [224,081 vs 94,354 sq miles], with a somewhat smaller population. Uganda is slightly smaller [93,264 sq miles] than the UK, with a smaller population than Kenya.)

The Foreign Office website (FCDO) carried this boast: ‘The UK government has launched a new 5-year programme worth £40 million to advance the rights of LGBT+ people globally.’

The UK is a nation which needs repentance from its evils, a nation in whose midst are those worshiping a foreign god who are systematically as would an invading army, who are even tolerated and protected by its ruling class, whose leaders refuse to repent and return to the Living God, instead, exporting and promoting their death-wish abroad.

Rape-gang scandal: A failure of elite feminism

0
Rotherham child sexual exploitation scandal
Rotherham child sexual exploitation scandal

The grooming-gang scandal, involving the systematic rape and sexual abuse of predominantly white working-class girls by groups of mostly Pakistani-heritage men, has long been a national disgrace.

The scandal is back in the headlines after Elon Musk accused Sir Keir Starmer and minister Jess Phillips of being “complicit” in the failure of authorities to protect victims and prosecute abusers while the PM was director of public prosecutions from 2008-2013.
For decades, this issue has simmered beneath the surface, ignored or downplayed by many who ought to have been its fiercest advocates for justice. Elite feminists, often seen as the guardians of women’s rights, have instead remained conspicuously silent.

The grooming gangs scandal?

The grooming gangs scandal in England, first highlighted in a 2011 Times of London investigation, revealed the sexual exploitation of girls by criminal gangs, primarily in northern towns, from 1997 onwards. Chief Inspector Alan Edwards noted that fear of addressing the perpetrators’ ethnicity hindered action.

A 2014 official report on Rotherham exposed that at least 1,400 children, some as young as 11, were groomed for sexual exploitation between 1997 and 2013. Authorities often ignored victims and their families, with some police officers dismissing the abuse as a “lifestyle choice.”

The abuse typically involved men courting girls in public places, introducing them to alcohol and drugs, and pressuring them into sexual acts with others. Often, the girl would think she had a genuine boyfriend, before finding out the stark reality of gang-rape. The scandal was particularly sensitive due to the racial disparity between the mostly white victims and the perpetrators, who were often of Pakistani, Bangladeshi, or Afghan heritage. Subsequent prosecutions led to long prison sentences for some offenders.

The Price of Neglect

Jess Phillips, Safeguarding minister.
Jess Phillips, Safeguarding minister.

The #MeToo movement, while drawing attention to workplace harassment and misconduct, has glaringly failed to address the horrors faced by vulnerable girls in local authority care. This neglect has left a vacuum in which justice remains elusive for countless victims.

The Labour Party’s Jess Phillips, a self-styled champion of women and girls, exemplifies this failure. As the government’s safeguarding minister, Phillips’s refusal to endorse Oldham Council’s call for a national inquiry into grooming gangs reveals a troubling double standard.

Her silence on this issue contrasts starkly with her otherwise vocal advocacy for women’s rights, exposing a hypocrisy that has not gone unnoticed. This betrayal stings all the more because it comes from someone who presents herself as a no-nonsense feminist—a facade that crumbles when faced with the politically inconvenient truth of grooming gangs.

The Bible says: Proverbs 31:8-9 Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction…Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

Jess Phillips: Feminism’s Hollow Champion

Labour’s Jess Phillips, safeguarding minister and self-proclaimed straight-talker, exemplifies the failure of establishment feminism to address the grooming-gang crisis. Her rejection of Oldham Council’s request for a national inquiry into the town’s child sexual exploitation scandal is an insult to survivors. Ms. Phillips, who prides herself on being a voice for women, has instead chosen to ignore the cries of abused girls. Her selective activism speaks volumes about the priorities of Britain’s feminist elite.

Ms Phillips is not alone in her dereliction of duty. Groups like the defunct Women’s Equality Party and institutions like the Fawcett Society have similarly diverted their energies elsewhere. Their focus on abstract issues like feminist AI may score them progressive points, but it does nothing to address the real, immediate suffering of rape survivors. This willful neglect lays bare the hollowness of a movement more invested in virtue signalling than in tangible justice.

Labour’s Leadership Vacuum

Labour’s mishandling of the grooming-gang scandal goes beyond Phillips. The party’s broader leadership has failed to champion the interests of the most vulnerable, instead choosing to prioritise policies like cutting winter fuel payments. This decision, which disproportionately affects elderly pensioners, highlights a disturbing trend: Labour’s willingness to sacrifice the needs of the powerless for the sake of political expediency.

By targeting pensioners while neglecting the victims of grooming gangs, Labour demonstrates a troubling inability to address issues that demand moral courage and leadership.

The surge in pension credit claims following the winter fuel cuts further underscores Labour’s miscalculations. The savings touted by the Treasury have been eroded by increased welfare costs, revealing the short-sightedness of these measures.
Meanwhile, the party’s inaction on grooming gangs suggests an unwillingness to engage with complex and politically sensitive issues. Labour’s silence is a betrayal of the very communities it claims to represent.

The Bible says: Matthew 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Ask us to come and speak at your church →

The #MeToo Hypocrisy

The global #MeToo movement, hailed as a watershed moment for women’s rights, has utterly failed to address the grooming-gang scandal. While it mobilised millions to share their experiences of harassment, it largely ignored the systemic abuse of working-class girls in Britain. Instead, it focused on high-profile cases, trivial incidents, and celebrity scandals. A fleeting kiss or an awkward date sparked international outrage, yet the prolonged suffering of girls in care homes and council estates was met with indifference.

The hypocrisy is staggering. Had even a fraction of the energy devoted to #MeToo been channelled into exposing and tackling grooming gangs, lives could have been saved, and justice served. Instead, the movement revealed its true colours: a platform for elite women to air grievances, not a genuine effort to combat all forms of misogyny.

As the Bible says: James 2:15-16 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food…And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

The Price of Speaking Out

For the few brave women who dared to speak out against grooming gangs, the backlash was swift and unforgiving. Labour’s Ann Cryer, Sarah Champion, journalist Julie Bindel, and former detective Margaret Oliver all faced vilification for their efforts. Branded racists, ostracised by their peers, and even forced out of their jobs, these women endured relentless attacks for daring to expose the truth. Their treatment by the feminist establishment is nothing short of disgraceful.

Instead of rallying around these whistleblowers, mainstream feminists chose to demonise them. Organisations like End Violence Against Women accused them of fuelling hatred, while academics dismissed their concerns as pandering to far-right narratives. This toxic atmosphere has silenced countless others who might have spoken out. The fear of being labelled a bigot has become a powerful tool for suppressing uncomfortable truths, leaving vulnerable girls to suffer in silence.

Sacrificed on the altar of Multiculturalism

It is not difficult to conclude these girls have been sacrificed on the altar of multiculturalism. The whistle-blowers were blasphemers against the orthodoxy.

Even now, politicians are unwilling to name the prime cause of the scandal. Kemi Badenoch pretended Pakistani ‘village’ attitudes were to blame. That is nonsense. Most Pakistani immigrants are from families who could afford, not just the air fare, but the visa as well. Even illegal immigrants crossing the channel have been able to pay thousands of dollars to people smugglers.

The root cause is not ‘the village’, it’s Islam. These were, and are, for there is every likelihood the rape gangs are operating to this day, Muslims.

In addition, their actions are consistent with those of the worst sort of invading army; raping the indigenous women-folk. Some have observed the young men arriving daily by boat are of fighting age. We could be seeing a slow-burn invasion, to which young working-class girls have become the first victims, along with those who have died in atrocities like the London bombings and knifings and the Manchester Arena.

A Stain on Modern Feminism

The grooming-gang scandal is not just a tragedy for its victims; it is a damning indictment of modern feminism. The movement’s leaders have consistently prioritised ideology over action, politics over principles, and self-preservation over solidarity. Their refusal to address this issue has left a gaping wound in their credibility and exposed the moral bankruptcy of a movement that claims to champion equality.

We can only speculate how many girls might have been spared if the feminist establishment had shown even a fraction of the outrage it reserves for less contentious causes. The grooming-gang scandal is a stain on feminism that will not be easily washed away. It is a reminder that true advocacy requires courage, not convenience; action, not abstraction. Until mainstream feminists confront their complicity, they will remain part of the problem, not the solution.

Labour’s Winter Fuel Raid Costs Taxpayers £400m

Fury of eligibility restrictions has spurred thousands to claim benefits for the first time – Wiktor Szymanowicz/Future Publishing

Labour’s raid on winter fuel payments has already cost the taxpayer £380m after a surge in benefits claims, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Analysts have warned that the surge in pension credit claims—nearly doubling to 9,500 a week—has already cost taxpayers an unbudgeted £388 million.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves claimed in July that ‘stripping the winter fuel allowance from some 10 million pensioners would save £1.4bn a year, citing a £22bn “black hole” in the public finances.’

This staggering figure undermines the government’s narrative of fiscal prudence. Instead of plugging a £22 billion fiscal gap, the policy has inadvertently triggered a financial domino effect, revealing the superficiality of Labour’s economic strategy.

How can a policy designed to save money end up costing the taxpayer so dearly?

Support Christian Voice →

Pushing Pensioners into Poverty

By stripping 10 million pensioners of their winter fuel allowance, Labour has turned up the heat—not on Britain’s finances, but on its elderly population.

Pensioners, many of whom had previously not claimed pension credit, are now forced to navigate the benefits system for survival. This policy gambit assumes that austerity is the price of economic stability, yet it blatantly disregards the human cost.

For retirees already grappling with rising energy prices and inflation, the withdrawal of a vital lifeline is not just callous; it’s catastrophic.

Ask us to come and speak at your church →

The Hidden Costs of Mismanagement

Labour’s underestimation of the knock-on effects of its policy has exposed glaring flaws in its approach.

Analysts at Policy in Practice have highlighted how ‘pass-ported benefits’ linked to pension credit—such as council tax support and free prescriptions—have ballooned the cost per pensioner to £6,800 annually, nearly double the government’s estimate.

This oversight signals a failure to account for the complexity of Britain’s welfare ecosystem, where one cost-saving measure invariably creates new financial burdens. The result? A policy riddled with inefficiencies that risks eroding public trust.

A Lesson in Political Shortsightedness

The winter fuel raid epitomises Labour’s gamble on quick fixes over sustainable solutions. Sir Steve Webb, a former Pensions Minister, diplomatically called the surge in pension credit claims a “dent” in projected savings.

In reality, it’s a gaping hole, exposing the shortsightedness of Labour’s fiscal policy. As claims continue to rise, the Chancellor’s initial promise of “meaningful savings” becomes increasingly hollow.

The question remains: will Labour pivot to address the unintended consequences of this policy, or will it stubbornly cling to a sinking ship of its own making?

It transpired there was not a single local NGO in the developing world promoting any of it which was locally funded. Every single one relied on Western money.

Church of England instructs Clergy to edit Christmas Carols to “avoid unnecessary offence”

0
Christmas Carol; Classic FM
Christmas Carol; Classic FM

The Church of England has advised clergy to alter traditional Christmas carols to avoid “causing unnecessary offence,” according to the Telegraph.

Beloved hymns such as O Come, O Come, Emmanuel and Lo, He Comes With Clouds Descending- have been flagged for their supposedly “problematic” language, with clergy urged to use phrasing that “minimises” tension or confusion.

The Church’s identity crisis

The Church of England’s decision to alter beloved Christmas carols reflects a deep and troubling identity crisis. What was once a cornerstone of tradition and faith has now become an institution seemingly terrified of its own message. This latest directive, urging clergy to revise Advent hymns exemplifies a desperate attempt to placate an imagined audience that might take issue with core Christian beliefs.

It’s as if the Church is trying to market itself to a demographic that neither believes in its teachings nor respects its traditions. This absurdity calls to mind the analogy of a vegan walking into a butcher shop demanding changes to its product. The Church, instead of standing firm in its convictions, bends over backwards to accommodate every potential grievance. In doing so, it risks alienating the very people it is supposed to serve – those who come seeking faith, not a watered-down version of it.

By attempting to neutralise language about Christ’s divinity and the exclusivity of salvation, the Church is abandoning its foundational tenets. What message does this send to worshippers? That the Church itself doubts its teachings? Such an approach is not inclusive; it is self-destructive. The result is an institution so diluted that it struggles to offer anything meaningful to believers or non-believers alike.

A pattern of decline

Boxing service in St. Peters Church, Shipley.
Boxing service in St. Peters Church, Shipley.

This is not an isolated incident. Earlier this year, reports surfaced of a Church of England branch in Shipley transforming its services into professional wrestling events

to attract more congregants. Not long before that, the Church explored dropping the term “church” altogether to seem more accessible. These gimmicks, while perhaps well-intentioned, reveal a troubling trend: the Church of England is willing to sacrifice its identity in the futile hope of gaining popularity.

Such strategies betray a lack of confidence in the power of its own message. Instead of drawing people in with the strength of its traditions and the transformative message of the Gospel, the Church is resorting to marketing stunts and linguistic contortions. What’s next? Turning services into entertainment hubs complete with pub-style refreshments? These decisions are a far cry from the steadfast faith that has guided the Church for centuries.

The collapse in attendance and belief is not a failure of tradition but a failure of conviction. By apologising for its core tenets and pandering to societal trends, the Church alienates believers and disheartens clergy. Instead of inspiring faith, it fosters disillusionment. The Church’s inability to stand firm is not just a crisis for the institution; it reflects a broader cultural drift away from meaning and certainty.

Ask us to come and speak at your church →

The business analogy that hits too close to home

If the Church of England were a business, it would have gone bankrupt long ago. No successful enterprise undermines its own product to such an extent. Imagine a restaurant apologising for the quality of its food every time a customer orders. That is essentially what the Church is doing: diluting its message while simultaneously signalling shame about its own beliefs. This approach does not attract new followers; it drives them away.

The Church’s attempt to operate like a modern business – editing carols to avoid “offence” and adopting flashy, unorthodox practices like wrestling services – only underscores its desperation. Yet, businesses thrive because they offer something distinct and of value. The Church once had this in its faith and traditions, but in abandoning those, it has rendered itself indistinct. What’s left to offer when even the Church seems uncertain about its purpose?

The collapse of church attendance is a direct result of this lack of conviction. People aren’t seeking spiritual fulfilment elsewhere; they’re giving up entirely. And why wouldn’t they? If the Church itself seems unsure of its teachings, why should anyone else take them seriously? The Church’s role is not to cater to every cultural whim but to provide a stable anchor in a sea of change.

The tragic loss of conviction

The Church of England building

The Church of England’s latest move – editing Christmas carols to avoid offending hypothetical sensitivities – is more than just a misguided attempt at relevance; it’s a tragic loss of conviction. A religious institution that cannot stand by its beliefs has little hope of inspiring faith. This failure of courage is not just damaging to the Church but to society as a whole, as it signals a retreat from moral and spiritual leadership.

The Church has historically been a source of strength, guiding communities through challenges and offering a message of hope and redemption. But today, it seems more focused on avoiding controversy than proclaiming truth. This shift is not only unappealing to potential worshippers but deeply disheartening to those who still hold onto their faith. The Church risks becoming a relic of the past, not because of its traditions but because of its abandonment of them.

If the Church of England truly wishes to regain relevance, it must stop apologizing for its beliefs and rediscover the courage of its convictions. Faith is not about pandering to the crowd; it’s about standing firm in the face of opposition. Without this resolve, the Church will continue its decline, leaving behind a legacy not of spiritual guidance but of squandered potential.
