Criminal claims ‘transgender’ to dodge deportation

A criminal has avoided deportation from the UK by claiming he is “transgender,” according to the Telegraph.

The 27-year-old man identified as MS argued he would face abuse in Algeria for his identity. British judges accepted his claim despite his record of robbery, theft, battery, and racial offence.

The tribunal ruled that deporting the Algerian would expose him to “ridicule and hostility.”

The same nation that once exported missionaries now imports lawless men and shelters them in the name of “compassion.”

Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil… that put darkness for light, and light for darkness.

The ruling

Upper tribunal Judge Christopher Hanson said: “Were MS to return to Algeria and be open about his sexuality, he would be at risk of mockery, harassment, discrimination and potential harm from non-state actors.

“Were he to wear women’s clothes and makeup, he would certainly draw negative attention to himself, and would likely be subjected to ridicule, hostility and possible harm.

“While there are some transvestites and transgender individuals in Algeria… they have suffered abuse and harm.

“Algerian society would not generally accept men dressing as women or asserting that they are transgender. Indeed, [his]’s account… of being ridiculed for wearing women’s clothes and make-up in public areas is entirely plausible, as are his father’s threats to kill him on account of his behaviour.

“A family would deem such actions as deeply shameful and humiliating, and would do their utmost to prevent their son from bringing embarrassment and shame in this way. If MS chooses to dress in women’s clothing or make up, this would heighten the threat of abuse.”

Stop Transgenderism Now!

The twisted face of asylum

This man was granted refugee status in 2013, supposedly fleeing danger. Instead, he brought danger with him—threatening police, resisting arrest, and abusing the system that took him in.

By 2019, he had been served with removal papers. Yet every attempt to uphold justice was frustrated by courts focused on identity politics.

Ecclesiastes 8:11 Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

The criminal code is now used not to punish wrongdoing, but to protect and empower the wicked. Britain’s “refuge” now shelters criminals under the pretext of fragile feelings and fabricated identities.

Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

Truth on Trial

A deportation order was made in August 2022, and he was served with a notice of the decision to revoke his refugee status in the same month.

The Home Office asserted in July 2023 that the situation in Algeria had changed and that MS would no longer be an “individual who would face treatment amounting to persecution” in the country.

However, a “country expert” told the tribunal that while “homosexuality is not illegal in Algeria, engaging in homosexual acts is a punishable offence”, and those who do not hide their sexuality are at risk of “physical violence”.

Judge Hanson said: “I find a holistic assessment of the evidence shows there is sufficient to justify the maintaining of the grant of international protection.”

The judge found the lower court had made a legal error because it did not consider the “protected characteristics” for which the asylum seeker had been “recognised as a refugee”.

This logic would forbid deporting any criminal who might be criticised abroad. The judge described MS’s story of being mocked for wearing makeup as “entirely plausible.” Is that now the threshold for asylum?

British justice, once rooted in truth, has become a theatre of moral confusion.

1 Timothy 1:7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

Parliament Paralysed

As Home Secretary Yvette Cooper prepares tighter laws to restrict abuse of asylum rules, cases like this show how far the rot has spread.

Despite repeated criminality, MS has remained in Britain for over a decade—while law-abiding citizens face rising crime and falling standards.

Britain’s political class has allowed human rights to become a tool of the unrighteous.

Psalm 94:20-21 Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law? They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous

Justice must be restored

The case of MS is not isolated—it is emblematic of a wider spiritual collapse. Compassion has been severed from truth. Justice is now determined by gender claims, not conduct. And criminals manipulate the system with terrifying ease.

Britain must repent. The Church must speak. And the people must pray for a return to righteousness, before it is too late.

Proverbs 28:4-5 They that forsake the law praise the wicked… Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

The promiscuous, predatory world of male homosexuality

A local council has officially withdrawn its funding and support for a ‘Pride’ parade.

For years, Surrey County Council had sponsored Pride in Surrey events, but have withdrawn funding following the conviction of Stephen Ireland, the group’s founder, now sentenced for the sodomy of a 12-year-old boy and multiple child sexual offences according to the Telegraph.

The County Council even maintained a close relationship with Mr. Ireland despite serious previous safeguarding warnings. Now, after his conviction, officials say they will no longer allocate public money to the group.

This decision sends a vital message which our elite need to hear: public funds must never support organisations that could shield predators. It also shines a light onto the promiscuous, predatory world of male homosexuality, as explained further in our video:

The Jury

A jury at Guildford Crown Court convicted Ireland of raping the child at his Addlestone flat on April 19, 2024. This shocking case exposes the dark underbelly that can lurk within groups promoting certain lifestyles.

Ireland, alongside David Sutton, 27, a volunteer for “Surrey Pride”, faced a multitude of charges. In total, they stood trial for 38 horrific offences, including conspiring to sexually assault children, arranging child sex offences, and even conspiring to kidnap.

The child bravely told police he was sexually assaulted, smoked narcotics from a ‘bong’, and was exposed to pornography.

Ireland’s convictions extend beyond the rape charge. He was also found guilty of three counts of causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, one count of sexual assault of a child under 13, one count of arranging the commission of a child sex offence, and six counts of making indecent images of children.

The danger of public hypocrisy

The case reveals how the establishment can be wilfully blind to individuals from favoured groups in positions of influence abusing the trust placed in them, in this case both financially and around vulnerable children.

Ireland was lauded by public institutions, supported by local media, broadcasting on the radio, even collaborating with local councils and police. He went out for rides in a rainbow-decked police car. No-one in authority ever dared raise the suspicion that a promiscuous homosexual might not be the right person to be cosying up to. Surrey Police even have LGBTQ+ officers in the force. Homosexuality is fashionable among the elite. This is where it ends.

Luke 8:17 For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.

Matthew 23:27–28 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres… outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

Protecting our children

The most urgent takeaway from this tragedy is the need to protect children from predators, regardless of their title, affiliation, or background.

Parents, schools, and churches must remain vigilant, even if those in power won’t out of fear or can’t out of ideology. Children are a precious gift from God and deserve protection from manipulation and harm.

Matthew 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck.

Pride, fall and repentance

This situation calls for a national reflection, not only on individual wrongdoing, but also on how the ‘Pride’ ideology shields sin from accountability. The clue is in the name:

Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

This is not the time for silence or moral cowardice. Christians are called to speak truth in love, advocate for the vulnerable, and call leaders to repentance.

While justice must be served, we also pray for redemption—for victims, communities, and even those ensnared in sin. It may be that with so much energy focussed on transgenderism, we have forgotten the dangers of the predatory nature of promiscuous male homosexuality.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face… then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Schoolgirl punished for wearing Union flag dress and celebrating British heritage

A schoolgirl was put into isolation for wearing a Union Jack dress to celebrate being British at her school’s culture day.

‘Straight A’ student Courtney Wright, 12, wore the Spice Girls-esque dress and wrote a speech about history and traditions as part of the celebrations on Friday 11th July 2025.

But the Year 7 pupil was told the dress was ‘unacceptable’ before being hauled out of lessons and made to sit in reception until her father collected her.

Her excitement turned to confusion when she was told that Culture Day wasn’t meant for her, because she “celebrates being British every day.”

The school effectively declared that the majority culture was unwelcome in a celebration of culture.

Proverbs 22:28 Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

The new cultural elitism

Courtney was not alone. Another pupil, who wore a traditional farming outfit representing her rural British heritage, was also pulled from lessons.

The reason? British culture is considered the ‘default’, and is therefore excluded. A celebration of ‘diversity’ results in the exclusion of the very culture that gave birth to the event.

This selective inclusivity is a perverse form of elitism. When one group’s heritage is silenced in the name of inclusion, injustice is repackaged as virtue.

Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil… that put darkness for light, and light for darkness.

Return to the UK’s Christian Constitution →

Who stole our story?

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Courtney’s father, Stuart Field, voiced heartbreak. He said his daughter had been “excluded for being proud of where she’s from.”

Her dress, he said, was not a political statement, but a symbol of love for her homeland. His comments echo the anguish of many parents who see their children taught that national pride is offensive.

Mr Field’s response models that biblical command: to guard, explain, and protect our identity. Culture, when rooted in Christian values, helps shape gratitude and moral direction. But it must be remembered – not rewritten or erased. To remember their heritage was exactly why the Lord commanded the children of Israel to remember the Passover:

Exodus 12:42 It is a night to be much observed unto the LORD for bringing them out from the land of Egypt: this is that night of the LORD to be observed of all the children of Israel in their generations.

Ask us to come and speak at your church →

Apology or admission?

Following media attention and public outrage, the school issued a statement expressing “deep regret” for the way Courtney had been treated. They promised to learn from the experience and to ensure students “feel recognised and valued.”

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins.

Will the school truly reform its policies and mindset, or will this be brushed aside as a PR issue? A society’s integrity is tested by how it treats its most innocent members—especially when they stand up for truth and tradition.

The judgement of forgetting

Deuteronomy 4:9 Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen… but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons.

Christian Voice National Director Stephen Green said: ‘This story may seem small—just one girl, one dress. But it reflects a national drift. When the culture of the majority becomes taboo, and its youth are shamed for honouring it, it shows a nation whose elite have lost confidence in their roots.

‘It is the same multicultural anti-Christian spirit that wants to ban criticism of Islam with an ‘Islamophobia’ law. The crosses on our national flag witness to our Christian constitution, which the elite hate. How they need to repent and honour the King of kings.’

That is often a precursor to divine judgement. Just as Israel was told to remember its deliverance from Egypt, modern nations must preserve the stories, songs, and sacrifices that made them.

When a people no longer tell their story—when they even shame their children for remembering—it is not long before they are ruled by others who will. If we do not return to God and honour the good He has done through our nations, we risk falling under the very judgement Scripture warns about.

16-year-olds to vote in next general election

16 and 17-year-olds to be able to vote in next general election, government plans

The government is preparing to give 16- and 17-year-olds the right to vote in the next UK General Election.

The proposal is being hailed as a “seismic” democratic change by Democracy Minister Rushanara Ali. Labour claims that allowing teenagers to vote will ensure their voices are heard.

But behind the rhetoric lies a different reality. There is no widespread demand for this from young people themselves. No protests. No movements. No campaigns.

As recent research from the National Centre for Social Research confirms, young people are statistically more likely to vote this current government.

Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness.

Let children to be children

The question is not whether young people matter—of course they do. The question is whether they are ready to take part in the sober, moral weight of national decision-making.

Children today are already under immense pressure. Their minds are still forming. Their views are still being shaped. At 16, they are still growing physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. They are navigating exams and peer pressure. Many still need parental permission to travel or make medical choices.

And yet, under this bill, they will be handed the power to decide the future of the nation.

To make it more absurd, the government is proposing that 16-year-olds may vote, but cannot stand for public office until 18. In other words: you are old enough to help elect leaders, but not old enough to be one.

If you are not trusted to lead, why are you trusted to choose those who will?

1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

Return to the UK’s Christian Constitution →

Jesus waited—why can’t we?

If anyone had the right to lead at a young age, it was Jesus Christ.

Luke 2:46-47 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions…And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

Luke 3:23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph.

He waited. He matured. He lived humbly and quietly until the time was right.

Spiritual growth, emotional maturity, and life experience matter. Wisdom is not downloaded overnight. Leadership comes with a burden, one that children were never meant to carry.

Let us not confuse early passion with Godly preparedness.

Ask us to come and speak at your church →

Leadership requires adulthood

Voting is not a TikTok trend or an Instagram poll. It is a holy responsibility—a decision about the laws, morals, and values that will shape a nation for generations.

At its core, voting is a spiritual act. It is a statement about what kind of world we believe in. And Scripture consistently places that burden on mature adults.

Even in ancient Israel, elders led the people. Heads of households, men of age and wisdom, were responsible for decisions affecting the community.

To surrender such weighty decisions to the immature is to abdicate adult duty. This is not love. It is neglect wrapped in activism.

Lamentations 3:27 It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.

A call for discernment

The government sees children not as souls to be nurtured, but as voters to be won. And in doing so, they turn schools into political factories and teenagers into political tools.

This is not only wrong. It is unrighteous.

Our task, as Christian citizens, is to stand for wisdom and pray for discernment. To protect the minds of the young and guard the moral foundations of our nation.

Let us teach our children how to grow strong in truth and righteousness—not how to vote before they understand what voting truly means.

Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

How I completed the Islamophobia form

The East London Mosque - the Daily Mirror claimed 50% of British Muslims support Islamic State.

This ‘Consultation’ has now closed. The deadline was Sunday 20th July. But you can still pray, sign our petition, and be encouraged with how I (and maybe you) completed the ‘Islamophobia/Anti-Muslim Hatred Definition Working Group – call for evidence’.

We begin with the questions then I show you what I answered below. How each of us responds depends on our individual composition. The Lord can and will use each of us, from the brash to the introspective. You should give your own answers, not repeat mine. Mine might start thought processes going. The only ‘correct’ answers are those I give to questions 8, 10, and 12, which is in each case: ‘No’ or ‘None of the above’.

The LINK is now dead. Instead you can Sign our Petition against ‘Islamophobia’ (and watch our video):

Q6. When referring to discrimination, prejudice, bigotry, hatred or violence directed at Muslims, which term do you think should be used? For instance, ‘Islamophobia’, ‘anti-Muslim hatred’, ‘anti-Muslim racism’, ‘anti-Muslim prejudice’, ‘Muslimophobia’ etc.
A6: Even asking for such a term is divisive and ridiculous.

Q7. Please tell us your reason for suggesting this term
A7: Asking for a definition to protect Muslims from legitimate criticism is going to backfire. Christians and Hindus are not asking for definitions of Christophobia or Hinduphobia.
Why? Because neither of them is engaged in violent jihad against the rest of the population, or asking for special favours such as sharia courts or halal food in schools and prisons, or forming rape gangs seeing indigenous girls as legitimate targets for rape, or calling for the expulsion of Jews from the Holy Land.
Government should not be appeasing Muslim demands in this constitutionally-Christian United Kingdom.

A9: Asking for a definition to protect Muslims from legitimate criticism is going to backfire. Christians and Hindus are not asking for definitions of Christophobia or Hinduphobia.

Islamophobia Consultation page 10

Q10. Do you think Anti-Muslim Hatred/Islamophobia is also a form of racism?
A10: No.

Q11. Please could you say more about why you think that?
A11: Islam started amongst pagan Arabs in the 7th Century, but Muslims soon demanded conquered people of all races submit to it. Today Islam is a politico/religious system with adherents of all races.
Christians believe there is only the human race, in which all are made in the image of God. It follows that people of all races are welcome in the United Kingdom so long as they recognise British culture and our Christian heritage and do not start to impose or demand a contrary religious culture.
Appeasing Muslims by forming a biased committee to impose an ‘Islamophobia’ definition and browbeat the rest of the population into silence is bound to backfire.
Indeed, it provides an opportunity to list the errors of Islam and the barbarity of many Muslims, not least in bombings, stabbings, rape gangs, etc.
We call on those who lead us to proclaim that Jesus Christ is King over this United Kingdom, end Muslim immigration and facilitate Muslims who wish to return to lands where Islam is established.

Please refrain from disclosing personal information about other people involved in these examples – such as their name, address.
A13: No, but I can recall numerous examples of Muslim hatred and violence against the rest of the population.

The Islamist Aldgate Bombing 7/7/05
The Islamist Aldgate Bombing 7/7/05

Indeed, this very fortnight we are remembering the 52 innocent victims of the 7th July 2005 London bombings, carried out by Islamic terrorists, and giving thanks to the Lord for miraculous deliverance from a further four Muslim bombers on 21st July 2005.
We recall subsequent car and knife attacks around Westminster and London Bridge, and the Manchester Arena atrocity where Muslim suicide bomber Salman Abedi killed 22 victims in 2017.
For too long the British establishment has covered up Islamic atrocity. In the most egregious example, poor, white, working-class British girls from broken family backgrounds were sacrificed on the altar of a false community cohesion to Muslim rape gangs.
The United Kingdom’s elites must reject the anti-Christian multicultural falsehood and return to our Christian constitution. It is written:
Psalm 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD;

Submit!

You have done a little thing that only you could do. Now you can pray, and watch the Lord do what only he can do!

Christian MP suspended over ‘faith’ rebellion

Rachael calls for debate over coronavirus impact on care homes | Rachael Maskell MP – Rachael Maskell – Labour and Co-operative MP for York Central

Christian MP for York Central, Rachael Maskell, has been suspended from the Labour Party by Sir Keir Starmer.

Ms Maskell, along with Neil Duncan-Jordan, Brian Leishman, and Chris Hinchliff, has had her party membership temporarily revoked after voting against the government on the controversial welfare bill.

Though the bill passed by a majority of 75, Ms Maskell’s stand helped carve out the largest rebellion Mr Starmer has faced since becoming leader.Ultimately, the PM scrapped the proposed PIP eligibility changes.

However, it must be said the Personal Independence Payment system is deeply flawed. It pays people 16 and over up to £74 per week to have a long-term health condition or disability, covering non-problems like the inability to cook, wash up or wait for a bus. A young person’s mother can then apply to be a carer, gaining even more money. This report shows it pays people to be indolent and does nothing to help them into work. The Bible says:

Proverbs 31:9 Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

But there are better ways to do that than to encourage them to consider themselves ill. The Bible says:

2Thess 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

Faith at the centre

Describing herself as “Labour to the core,” the MP for York Central explained her choice as a matter of principle, not politics. “I’m not angry,” she told reporters. “I’m upset—for the party.” She added: “The reason why I voted the way I did was because I believe in fighting for people.”

“As someone of deep conviction and faith,” she wrote, “I bring these values with me in all I do in representing my constituents.” She may be wrong on the PIP scandal, but Rachael Maskell has consistently voted pro-life, against abortion and euthanasia. On the other hand, she has supported transgenderism.

Well does the Bible tell us to put our trust in God, not in fallible leaders.

“Police should not march with pride”

0
Transgenderism March earlier this year in Newcastle.
Transgenderism March earlier this year in Newcastle.
Transgenderism March earlier this year in Newcastle.
Sodomy march earlier this year in Newcastle.

A British court has ruled that Northumbria Police acted improperly when it allowed uniformed officers to take part in a “Pride and transgender” rights march.

According to the Telegraph, the judge found that the force breached its duty to remain impartial, raising serious concerns about political activism within public institutions.

The case was brought by 34-year-old Linzi Smith, a gender-critical lesbian, who argued that police participation in the 2024 Newcastle parade gave the impression of siding with one side in a highly divisive cultural debate. She described the force’s actions as a “terrifying” failure of neutrality.

The court agreed, noting that the officers’ involvement, alongside symbols and flags associated with transgender ideology could undermine public trust, especially among those who hold differing beliefs.

This ruling marks a significant moment in the conversation about policing, politics, and truth in the public square.

The Bible says,
Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Stop Transgenderism Now!

A judge weighs the scales

Mr. Justice Linden, presiding over the case, gave careful consideration. And in a landmark ruling that will echo for years to come, he agreed with Smith.

He said that marching in Pride created the appearance of bias. If officers openly support transgender causes, he said, how can they be trusted to fairly judge those who do not?

He warned of future conflicts—between gender-critical individuals and trans activists—and said this visible alignment may cause rightful concern.

The judge’s words were sober and weighty: “It is not hard to imagine circumstances in which the officers… might be called on to deal with a clash… where [gender-critical people] had cause for concern.”

In a world where truth is often redefined, the judge stood firm. He did not condemn individuals.
But he affirmed the sacred principle: that justice must be blind.

Support NCCSS / Christian Voice →

Messages That Stir the Soul

The court also heard what took place during the parade. It was not a celebration of inclusion, as some claimed. It was loud, political, and angry.

Pro-Palestinian slogans rang out:

“From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”
“No Pride in Genocide.”
“Everyone hates the police.”

And still—the police remained embedded in the march. Wearing their uniforms. Bearing their emblems.
Standing beneath flags that many see as divisive.

It was more than an image problem. It was a moment where the shepherds of the law appeared as activists, not protectors. The police are to be above the fray—not marching in it.

Return to the UK’s Christian Constitution →

Standing firm in a shaken culture

Ms. Smith was not alone in her fight. She had the backing of brave voices—people who believe that policing must be apolitical and impartial.

Professor Kathleen Stock supported her, saying the police had aligned themselves with one worldview.
Harry Miller of Fair Cop also stood with her, reminding us that justice cannot wear a rainbow badge—or any badge of political allegiance.

They stood not against people, but against ideology creeping into institutions. This case is a warning and a call.

The Christian call is not to hate, nor to fear—but to discern. To love all, and yet hold fast to truth.
To be the salt and light in a world of confusion.

As Psalm 89:14 says, Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.

Georgia’s ‘foreign agents’ bill signed into law

Georgia’s ‘foreign agents’ bill has been signed into law.

Georgia’s Parliament insisted on passing a ‘Foreign Agents’ Law despite its president and all the foreign agencies objecting.

The new legislation will see that media outlets and non-governmental organisations who receive over 20% funding abroad are asked to declare such funds as support from ‘foreign agents’.

During a plenary session on Monday, the legislation passed with 84 votes in favour, primarily from the governing Georgian Dream party—and four votes against, while the opposition abstained.

That evening, thousands of Georgians protested outside parliament, many waving Georgian and EU flags.

The law had already been passed on 14 May, but was then vetoed by pro-Western President Salome Zourabishvili.

The Georgia ‘foreign agents’ bill

The Georgia ‘foreign agents’ bill is a new law that requires media outlets and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) receiving more than 20% of their funding from foreign sources to register as ‘organisations acting in the interest of a foreign power.’ These organisations must also undergo detailed audits and face hefty fines if they do not comply.

The bill was passed by the Georgian parliament with strong support from the ruling Georgian Dream party, while the opposition largely abstained from voting.

The legislation has led to significant public protests, with many a expressing concerns that it will restrict freedom of speech and hinder the work of NGOs. Protesters have demonstrated outside the parliament, waving Georgian and European Union flags in opposition to the law.

Bill to limit free speech before parliamentary elections?

Georgia’s president Salome Zourabichvili, vetoed the bill. She accused the Governing party of putting the country’s future at risk and blocking its progress toward becoming a full member of the free and democratic world.

The government argues the law is necessary to stop harmful foreign influences from destabilising Georgia, a country with 3.7 million people. However, many Georgian journalists and activists claim that the real purpose of the bill is to label them negatively and limit free speech before the parliamentary elections in October.

Countries with ‘foreign agent’ law

Various countries have implemented laws to monitor organisations and individuals receiving foreign funding.

In Russia, the foreign agent law, enacted in 2012, requires such entities to register as ‘foreign agents’ and disclose detailed financial reports.

Kyrgyzstan passed a similar law in 2019, but critics argue its impact on civil society. Additionally, the United States has the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) since 1938.

Similarly, Hungary enacted a law in 2017 requiring NGOs receiving over 20% of funding from abroad to register, while Israel’s Foreign Funding Law targets NGOs receiving over 50% of funding from foreign governments, and India has the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) regulating foreign contributions by NGOs and entities.

Russia arrests foreign agents

Former world chess champion Garry Kasparov may be charged by Russian authorities for violating the Kremlin’s ‘foreign agent’ law, reports TASS news agency.

The former world champion is accused of ‘heading a terrorist society, funding terrorist activity and justifying it publicly’.

The city court in Syktyvkar, the largest city in Russia’s northwestern Komi region, has issued in absentia arrest warrants for world chess champion Garry Kasparov, former State Duma member Gennady Gudkov, Ivan Tyutrin (co-founder of the Free Russia Forum, which is designated as an undesirable organisation in Russia), and former environmental activist Yevgenia Chirikova.

All of them have been recognised as foreign agents in Russia.

Threats to civil society?

International human rights organisations, civil society groups, and election observers are urging European and national leaders to promptly address the Georgian ‘transparency law’. They have claimed it is an attempt to crackdown on civil society as the country approaches its General Elections in October.

Since April 15th Georgians have been rallying in protest against the ‘Transparency of Foreign Influence’ law, which bears striking resemblance to the Russian ‘Foreign Agent Law’. Opponents say this law threatens to equip the government with tools to suppress civil society and independent media, derailing Georgia from its democratic path towards EU integration.

Georgia and Kyrgyzstan are following Russia’s path by passing laws that target organisations getting foreign funding.

In Kyrgyzstan, critics also claim President Japarov is making things tough for civil soceity and media. Groups with foreign money are closely monitored.

Bad news for civil society?

Critics have claimed that these laws are a tool for vilification. ‘In many countries, civil society groups and independent media struggle to sustain themselves on domestic funding.

‘Resources tend to be particularly constrained where civic space is heavily restricted – as in Kyrgyzstan – and government bodies channel domestic support to organisations aligned with or uncritical of the state. That’s why civil society often turns to international sources, including donor agencies, philanthropic foundations and multilateral bodies. But receiving foreign funding isn’t the same as agreeing to represent donors’ interests.

‘Those pushing foreign agents laws often argue civil society must be regulated so it doesn’t misuse resources. But wherever such laws have been introduced, civil society groups and independent media have already been subject to legislation and regulations on matters such as registration, reporting and accounting, often to an excessive and intrusive extent.’

Africa and the transparency law

In light of recent foreign agent laws implemented by various countries, Christian Voice is calling on African nations to follow suit and enact similar transparency legislation. These laws would require organisations receiving foreign funding to disclose their sources and intentions, providing insight into which countries might be promoting the LGBTQ agenda within Africa.

Recent years have seen a wave of foreign agent laws globally, from Russia and Kyrgyzstan to Georgia and other countries.

Christian Voice believes that adopting similar laws in Africa is essential for safeguarding cultural and societal norms.

Further, transparency laws would not only identify foreign influence but also empower African nations to take control of their cultural and moral narratives. By knowing the origins of funding and the intentions behind it, governments and citizens alike can make informed decisions about the presence and impact of external ideologies.

Christian Voice emphasises that this call to action is not about stifling freedom of expression but about maintaining sovereignty and cultural integrity. The organisation urges African leaders to consider the benefits of such legislation in promoting transparency and protecting societal values.

In conclusion, as countries worldwide implement foreign agent laws, Christian Voice strongly encourages African nations to emulate these measures. Enacting transparency laws will help uncover and address foreign influences, ensuring that Africa’s cultural and moral landscape remains firmly in the hands of its people.

The Bible says,
2 Corinthians 4:2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

Christian artist vilified over gender-critical views

Victoria Culf with her husband: The Telegraph
Victoria Culf with her husband: The Telegraph

A Christian woman has been vilified for upholding biblical truth about gender, according to the Telegraph.

Victoria Culf, a professional artist with two decades of experience, was reported to the police and banned from her own art exhibition at Watford Museum, after expressing her Christian conviction that gender transition harms children.

Her quiet words — shared during a conversation over tea with a council worker — were later twisted into allegations of harassment. Shockingly, she was also falsely informed that she was under police investigation, though no such action existed.

Despite the friendly tone of the initial conversation, which Mrs Culf recalls as “calm and amicable,” she was later confronted with claims of harassment, threats to her professional work, and an unjust ban from her own exhibition.

Matthew 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you… for my sake.

Stop Transgenderism Now!

Police denied wrongdoing — council pressed on

Though Hertfordshire Police stated clearly that what Victoria Culf said amounted to free speech and not a crime, the Watford Borough Council continued treating her like a criminal.

The council official falsely claimed the incident had been logged by the Hate Crime Officer and reportedly fabricated a crime reference number. Court documents show that the accuser went so far as to write to a senior council official insisting the matter was being pursued by police — a complete fabrication.

This deception resulted in Mrs Culf being marginalised from the very exhibition she had funded and organised.

Contract broken, art damaged, voice silenced

Victoria’s contract was terminated. Her artwork, presented as part of a local creative initiative by BEEE Creative, was reportedly damaged during the course of the event.

Her exclusion from the project — based entirely on her views rooted in Christian morality and concern for children — has become the subject of legal action.

The Christian Legal Centre is representing her in a case that will test the boundaries of religious freedom and the creeping hostility toward those who dare to dissent from gender ideology.

“Designed to intimidate”

Reflecting on the trauma, Victoria said: ‘I genuinely feared a knock at the door or a call asking me to explain myself — or worse. I now know this was a pack of lies, designed to intimidate me.’

Her words cut through the darkness surrounding the incident. She stood calmly for the truth, yet found herself accused, marginalised, and silenced — not by courts, nor police, but by unelected council employees willing to bend the truth to support an ideology.

A nation that hates good

This is not merely a local council dispute. This is Britain in decline, where a council officer can override police truth, cancel an artist, and walk away unchallenged — all for the crime of saying children should not be given drugs to stop puberty.

Once again, Christians in public life are punished for speaking the truth in love. Mrs Culf’s case echoes other battles, including Sally Dixon, Franklin Graham, and Maya Forstater, where freedom of conscience and biblical conviction come under siege.

Christian Voice will continue to report such cases — standing with those who honour God, even when the state refuses to.

London Bombings: Two Decades Since 7/7

Twenty years ago today, London was shattered by the most devastating terrorist attack in its modern history.

On the morning of Thursday 7th July 2005, four Islamist suicide bombers targeted the city’s transport network during rush hour.

Explosions ripped through three London Underground trains and a double-decker bus, killing 52 innocent people and injuring over 700 others.

Lives were cut short, families torn apart, and the capital was plunged into chaos. The attacks exposed not only the brutality of Islamist extremism but also how deeply embedded radical ideologies had become within Britain’s borders.

A Second Attack Thwarted by Prayer and Providence

Just two weeks later, on 21 July 2005, a second wave of attacks was attempted—but this time, the bombs failed to detonate.

What could have been another day of national mourning was narrowly avoided. Many Christian groups had taken to prayer vigils in the days after 7/7, crying out for mercy, protection, and divine intervention.

While security forces scrambled, it was prayer that many believe shielded the city. The attackers, though determined, were unsuccessful. The close timing and coordination of both attacks revealed just how vulnerable Britain had become.

Unless the Lord Keeps the City

Britain has developed world-class security forces, but in the end, human effort alone cannot preserve a nation from terror.

In a land increasingly dismissive of God and saturated in sin, divine protection is the only true safeguard.

Even with all our intelligence networks and surveillance, it is the unseen hand of God that ultimately determines whether evil is restrained or permitted to strike.

The Bible says,
Psalm 127:1 Psa 127:1  A Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. (KJV)

‘Religion of Peace’

The aftermath of the 7th July bombings was the first time British politicians began to claim Islam was a ‘religion of peace’. At the following Prime Ministers Question Time, the Guardian reports Tony Blair telling the House of Commons: ‘This is not an isolated criminal act we are dealing with – it is an extreme and evil ideology whose roots lie in a perverted and poisonous misinterpretation of the religion of Islam.’

To this day it is not known what degree in the theology of Islam Mr Blair had gained to give him any authority to make such a claim. In fact, it was purely an assertion. It is difficult to find any evidence of race riots following the bombings, but Mr Blair went on to condemn them anyway:

He told the Commons: ‘Isn’t it the case that anyone who reaches out for a stone to throw at the window of a mosque, anyone who nurtures resentment against our Muslim community, is the enemy of all of us, because they would be acting the way terrorists want us to act – helping them to achieve their objective of dividing us one from another.’

Bombers’ stated aim

Curiously, this is exactly the same line as the Mayor of London, ‘Sir’ Sadiq Khan, came out with on GB News twenty years later. Earlier today (7th July 2025) he said we should all come together because the 7th July bombers ‘sought to divide us’.

But according to a statement from bomber Mohammad Sidique Khan broadcast subsequently by Al Jazeera on 1st September 2005, that is simply not the case. According to Wikipedia, ‘The perpetrators said they were responding to atrocities against Muslims committed by the west.’ A further statement from bomber Shehzad Tanweer was broadcast on 6th July 2006 by Al-Jazeera. In the video, Tanweer identified British action against the ‘Ummah’ or Muslim people in Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya and UK support of Israel against Muslims in ‘Palestine’ as reasons for the atrocity.

That understanding has been confirmed by a former head of police counter-terrorism. The Guardian reports: ‘Foreign policy was a driver behind the 7 July 2005 attacks on London’. … Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu said governments needed to accept that foreign policy, such as Britain’s stance on the Israel-Gaza war, could have a direct effect on domestic security.

‘Community Cohesion’

Assistant Comissioner Neil Basu
Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu

The answer, according to Mr Basu in 2019 was to recognise ‘police and security services are no longer enough to win the fight against violent extremism’. Instead, ‘the UK must improve community cohesion, social mobility and education.’ The flaw with that argument is that it depends on Muslims in Britain themselves wanting to be ‘cohesive’ and socially integrate with British society, and to prefer western-style education and learning about the beauty of ‘British values’ to studying the Koran.

The evidence from Muslim Pakistani communities in Bradford reveals a parallel society with its own values and with no intention of assimilating at all. Mr Basu’s dream is driven by nothing more than the elite’s sacred cow of multiculturalism.

Cohesion has to be built on shared values, and in a constitutionally Christian nation like the United Kingdom, our elite must recognise that only Jesus Christ can unite and save us. Secularism, Multiculturalism, vague aspirations are powerless in the face of assertive self-confident Islam.

A Pattern of Islamist Terror on British Soil

Indeed, since 7/7, Britain has endured more than a dozen Islamist atrocities. Among them are the murder of Fusilier Lee Rigby in 2013, many terror attacks in Westminster and on London Bridge, and the murder of David Amess MP in 2021.

The worst in terms of loss of life was when Islamist suicide bomber, 22-year-old Salman Abedi, blew himself up as people were leaving an Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena bombing in 2017. Abedi killed 22 people, including children. In Southport, only last year, Islamist terrorist Axel Rudakubana stabbed three small girls.

From Gangs to Lone Wolves: The Shifting Face of Terror

In the early days, jihadist plots often involved tight-knit groups radicalised in mosques or online forums.

But now, we are witnessing a move toward “lone wolf” attacks—individuals acting independently, sometimes with minimal planning or outside influence.

These self-radicalised actors are harder to track, less predictable, and often remain invisible to the usual indicators of extremism. The face of jihadism has become more fragmented—and more dangerous. From London to the Midlands, from cities to the seaside, the threat has seeped into the very fabric of our communities. Even Mr Basu says he feels less safe today.

Security Services Under Strain

While our police, MI5, and counterterrorism units work tirelessly, the evolving nature of the threat has outpaced even their sophisticated tools.

Intelligence is harder to gather, and threats are harder to predict. Crucially, even in 2005, the 7/7 bombers were not apprehended before their attack, despite being on the radar of security services.

Similarly, the 21/7 bombers were only caught after their failed attempt—not beforehand. This painful truth underscores a national vulnerability that has not been fully addressed.

A Call to National Repentance and Intercession

The stark reality is that our national sins—from the rejection of God’s laws to the celebration of moral rebellion—have left Britain spiritually exposed. We must urgently return to the truth of Psalm 127:1. Terrorism is not only a political or security problem; it is a spiritual crisis.

Without repentance and collective prayer for mercy, the foundations of our safety will continue to erode. The solution is not merely stronger surveillance, but a revival of righteousness in the land.

A Danger We Imported—and Still Welcome

Let us not ignore the elephant in the room: the ideology that fuels these attacks has been imported through illegal immigration and asylum policies that fail to distinguish between the truly persecuted and those who carry hostility to Western freedoms.

The ongoing Channel crossings, bringing thousands of undocumented migrants—mostly young men of fighting age—raise deep concerns.

In the name of compassion, we have allowed a dangerous naivety to govern our borders. We have imported honour killings, cousin marriage, female genital mutilation and the systematic grooming and rape of poor, indigenous, working-class girls. On top of that, we are daily importing an Islamist threat, a slow-burn invasion.

A Wake-Up Call, Not Just a Memorial

Prince Charles at the dedication of the 7th July Memorial in Hyde Park in 2009.

On this 20th anniversary of 7/7, let us do more than remember. Let us repent, pray, and re-evaluate.

For unless the Lord keeps the city—no amount of MI5 briefings, CCTV cameras, or Prevent strategies will be enough.

May this be a turning point, not just a memorial.

Council CEO rejects order to remove “pride flag”

Council Boss Defies Reform Leadership Over “Pride” Flag

The Chief Executive of a County Council, has refused to remove the a flag from flying above the county hall, in defiance of the newly elected council leadership.

Monica Fogarty refused a request from an 18-year-old Reform UK leader of her council to remove a ‘Pride flag’ from County Hall, in line with a clear position that only British national flags should fly on civic buildings. Yet Ms Fogarty, a senior public servant in Warwickshire, responded firmly: ‘I am afraid I will not be taking the action that you are requesting.’

The flag in question is not the original rainbow flag, but the updated ‘Progress’ version—featuring additional colours to symbolise the ‘transgenderism movement’. For many Christians, this is not about civic pride but the quiet normalisation of behaviours which Scripture calls us to reject.

The Bible says,
Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

“I will not take it down”

Monica Fogarty, Warwickshire County Council CEO, wrote to Zia Yusuf, head of Reform’s department of government efficiency: ‘I am afraid I will not be taking the action that you are requesting.

‘Hitherto the decisions around which flags to fly at Shire Hall have been left to me as CEO. This has been the custom and practice for the duration of my tenure as CEO end I have never received a request or instruction from an elected member or the Leader on such a matter.

‘The Pride flag has been flown annually during Pride month for many years and I see no reason to diverge from this approach.

‘I had agreed with Councillor Howard that both the flag of St. George and the Pride flag would be flown and in my view that arrangement continues.

‘This council does not have a formal policy around decision making on the flying of flags and should you wish to promote the introduction of such a policy then this would be a matter to be agreed as an Executive Decision. The Union Flag is flying over old Shire Hall as it does permanently.

‘The Armed Forces Flare also flying this week in recognition of Armed Forces Week. The Fade Flag is due to come clown after the coming weekend at which point the Ukrainian Flag will be lifted again.

‘Given that there are currently three flags only at the front of Shire Hall there is then a decision as to whether the Union Or the County flag be hoisted.’

When identity politics take over public space

The so-called “Progress Pride flag” goes further than calls for tolerance—it has become an emblem of the sexual revolution and a symbol of a new state religion of self-identification, one that demands public affirmation. It sends a message not of diversity, but of conformity, especially to children and families who see such flags displayed on civic property.

For many faithful Christians, the issue is not about flag policy but about the spiritual confusion and moral compromise now becoming routine in public life.

When unelected officials take it upon themselves to decide what values should be broadcast from our town halls, we must ask: Whose values are being promoted—and at what cost to truth?

In refusing to remove it, the council’s highest-paid official—earning up to £213,001 a year—seems to believe her view of “inclusion” outweighs the beliefs of countless ordinary residents who hold to biblical morality and simply want their public buildings to reflect national unity, not ideological promotion.

Time for truth in the public square

The flag was finally lowered at the end of the month, but the debate remains. This is not about hatred. It’s about truth, conscience, and the rightful place of God’s design for humanity in public life.

Public buildings should ideally represent national unity, rather than reflecting cultural discord. It remains to be seen how expressions of differing cultural perspectives might be addressed under a future administration with alternative viewpoints.

The time has come for believers to lovingly, boldly resist the push to make sin into virtue and virtue into silence.

Ofcom: “Broadcasters must call men women”

Broadcast regulator Ofcom has issued fresh guidance requiring UK broadcasters to give airtime to claims that biological men are women whenever “transgender” topics are discussed.

This directive comes in defiance of a landmark Supreme Court ruling that upheld the reality of biological sex in law.
Even Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, no bastion of conservatism, has since backed protections for single-sex hospital wards based on biological sex. Yet Ofcom insists the debate is “not settled” and now pushes broadcasters to affirm views contrary to legal and biological fact.

The guidance, quietly released to TV outlets earlier this year, also hints that broadcasters should adopt guests’ preferred pronouns—another step in Ofcom’s increasingly ideological approach to media regulation.

This undermines not only freedom of expression, but also judicial authority, as it implies the regulator’s cultural values trump even the nation’s highest court.

Stop Transgenderism Now!

Who appoints the Ofcom board?

Despite its sweeping powers over UK media, Ofcom is not led by elected officials. The Board has a maximum of 12 members, with a majority of non-executive members. It comprises a Chairman appointed by the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture Media and Sport (DCMS), such number of other non-executive members as the Secretary of State may appoint and the executive members.

In the case of the non-executive members for Scotland and Wales and Northern Ireland, appointments are made
by the relevant devolved Government, with pre-appointment consultation with DCMS.

That means ministers who are themselves political appointees, select the people who decide what is acceptable for the public to see and hear on air.

This process has seen controversial figures such as Lord Michael Grade appointed as Chair of Ofcom, drawing a salary in excess of £142,000 per year. Other members, like Tamara Ingram, the Deputy Chair, earn around £70,000 annually for a part-time post. Ms. Ingram also holds multiple commercial board roles, raising questions about where her loyalties lie.

Support NCCSS / Christian Voice →

A Web of influence: Quangocrats in action

A closer look at Ofcom’s leadership reveals a pattern common to the British “quangocracy”: many board members have held or currently hold multiple paid positions across public bodies, corporations, and charities. This revolving door of influence raises legitimate concerns about impartiality.

Lord Grade is a former BBC executive, ITV chairman, and sits in the House of Lords.

Tamara Ingram serves on the boards of Marks & Spencer, Intertek, and Reckitt Benckiser.

Lord Richard Allan, another board member, was formerly head of policy for Facebook (Meta) in Europe and now sits on NHS boards and works with Cisco.

Such a concentration of power in unelected hands—spanning media, government, big tech, and healthcare represents a challenge to democratic oversight and freedom of speech.

Return to the UK’s Christian Constitution →

Regulating truth

Ofcom has a record of deciding which views are allowed and which may be ignored. It has ruled, for example, that broadcasters must treat climate change as “man-made”, and therefore no longer need to air alternative viewpoints. It has also intervened on issues of race, immigration, and now sex and gender, using its powers to nudge public conversation in a direction it deems correct.

As Christians who believe in the God-given reality of male and female, we must ask: who gave this body authority to declare moral truth for our entire nation?

The Bible says,
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Ask us to come and speak at your church →

False balance or false prophet?

By demanding broadcasters present transgender claims as equivalent to biological fact, Ofcom isn’t seeking “balance”—it’s attempting to redefine truth by fiat. Its insistence that children and adults alike hear unscientific views as if they were gospel is nothing less than regulatory coercion.

Isaiah 5:20 warns: Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness

It is time for Christians to challenge not just broadcasters, but the regulators behind them. If Ofcom has become a secular priesthood for cultural relativism, then we must resist with clarity, courage, and conviction. The Word of God—not a government-appointed board—defines who we are.

Primary School Children taught 300 “Pride Flags”

Children as young as eleven, still navigating the simple wonders of childhood, are being inundated with explicit sexual ideologies under the guise of inclusion and diversity.

A primary school guide, distributed by Swindon and Wiltshire Pride and signposted by the local council, boasts of over 300 ‘LGBT Pride flags’ representing ‘a wide spectrum of sexualities and gender identities’ – far more, they proudly state, than there are national flags in the world.

Far from celebrating human dignity, this approach sexualises children. It is not education but indoctrination and moral confusion. The rainbow flag and its ‘pride offshoots’ is a gateway to sexual deviance. The Bible says education should come not from gay activists but from parents, and should focus not on deviance, but on God’s laws:

Deut 11:19 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

The rainbow fragmented

One of the 'pride' flags
One of the ‘pride’ flags

The guide—touted as an “inclusive” support resource, includes a bewildering array of flags: from the “intersex-inclusive Pride flag” to the “polyamory flag”, even a “heterosexual Pride flag” designed to affirm straight people—so long as they fit within the transgender ideology.

Among this “small selection” of 29 detailed flags are labels such as demiboy, demigirl, pangender, abrosexual, genderqueer, and others so obscure they seem engineered to bewilder.

The Bible makes a distinction between children and adults:
We henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.

Rather than helping children understand the world, this catalogue of sexual and gender identifiers draws them into an adult conversation they are not prepared for—and should not be invited into. It is not clarity, compassion or progress but the deliberate sowing of confusion.

Grooming behind a smile

The pride materials don’t stop at labels. They openly reference websites advising on practices such as binding breasts, using cross-sex hormones in under-18s, and “exploring the fetish spectrum”. These are not age-appropriate discussions for children—these are adult matters, rooted in practices historically linked to exploitation and harm.

One mother, a former teacher, was rightly alarmed. “This is encouraging children to think about multiple sexual partners,” she said, referencing the polyamory section. In the so-called “education” part of the guide—intended for students as well as teachers—it unashamedly recommends raising awareness of fetish identities.

Such material is not educational—it is predatory, wrapped in rainbows and platitudes. Christians must call this what it is: a form of grooming by ideology.

2 Peter 2:14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls.

Return to the UK’s Christian Constitution →

Parental rights erased

Parents who voiced their concerns were met with indifference by the Labour-led local council, which chose instead to platform the Pride guide on social media. One is left asking: ‘Who is responsible for safeguarding children?’ Certainly not those who push sexual ideologies over the voices of concerned mothers and fathers.

The refusal to consult, listen, or act responsibly is an abdication of duty. Christian teaching affirms the role of parents as the primary moral guardians of their children—not the State, not lobby groups, and certainly not charities that normalise fetish culture in school settings.

If our educational structures are not built upon godly foundations, they will collapse under the weight of their own moral incoherence.

The Psalmist warns:
Psalm 127:1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it.

Protect the little ones

Helen Joyce of the human rights group Sex Matters rightly noted that this flag obsession “recruits children into the world of sexual orientation and gender identity”. But Christians must go further: this is not merely inappropriate, it is spiritually and morally destructive.

Children should be protected, cherished, and taught to find their identity not in a spectrum of invented sexual labels.

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

The Church must speak out boldly: our children are not experiments. They are not vessels for adult ideologies. They are precious souls, and we must not be silent as they are led astray.

Psalm 127:3 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

‘Pride’ flags hung all over school

Elsewhere we read that Westmeads Community Infant School in Whitstable, Kent, has hung ‘pride flags’ all over its premises to indoctrinate children as young as four.

'Pride' Flag on Westmeads Pimary School
‘Pride’ Flag on Westmeads Pimary School

Social campaigner James Esses broke the story, sharing the pictures. But head teacher Kirsty White defended the flags, saying Westmeads is ‘an inclusive school in every sense’. ‘British Values’ have for the Kirsty totally supplanted Christian ethics: ‘We will always celebrate our diverse community through a progressive curriculum representative of British values.’

Chris Cornell, a local Labour councillor, defended the school’s decision, stating: ‘Our town is a very LGBTQ+ inclusive place and this homophobia is awful.’ One can imagine the men of Sodom criticisng ‘this homophobia’ along with Chris Cornell:
Gen 19:4 … the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:

In fact, they did, complaining about Lot:
Gen 19:9 … This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: …

Publishers sold out to transgenderism

Publishers of children’s books are encouraging the gender confusion of small children in what have been described as ‘sparkly pro-trans books targeting toddlers’.

Publishers are promoting gender confusion to tots.
Publishers are promoting gender confusion to tots.

Campaign groups Sex Matters and SEEN in Publishing carried out the first comprehensive report of its kind examining gender ideology in the publishing industry.

Their report found that gender ideology – the belief that being a “woman” can be independent of biological sex – has become “dominant” in the industry. The review concluded that the state of children’s publishing is “particularly concerning”.

It found a “shiny, sparkly world of trans identities” promoted to young readers, with “many aimed at toddlers”. Recent titles aimed at children include ‘Julian is a Mermaid’, ‘Are You a Boy or Are You a Girl?’, and ‘She’s My Dad’. Of 21 publishers surveyed, a fifth of their output on transgender-related products was targeted at children.

This is despite the Cass Report warning of the dangers of the ‘trans pathway’, the UK’s ban on ‘puberty blocker’ hormones and April’s Supreme Court ruling that sex is biological, not based on ‘feelings’.

The report quotes an extract from the book ‘I Am Jazz’, by Jessica Herthel and Jazz Jennings, which states: “From the time she was two years old, Jazz knew that she had a girl’s brain in a boy’s body.
“She loved pink and dressing up as a mermaid and didn’t feel like herself in boy’s clothing. This confused her family, until they took her to a doctor who said that Jazz was transgender and that she was born that way.”

This is propaganda and it should have no place in a civilised nation. Our elites have turned their backs on the Gospel and are intent on leading us all, even small children, slouching to Gomorrah. The words of the Lord Jesus echo to us down the centuries:
Mark 1:15 The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Members of the Parliament of the United Kingdom have voted for death over life twice in one week. On Tuesday 17th June 2025 they voted to allow women to kill their pre-born children up to birth, high-jacking the Government Crime and Policing Bill. On Friday 20th they gave a third and final reading to the ‘Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill’.

Voting in Hansard

The vote to decriminalise abortion was passed by 379 votes to 137, a majority of 242, dwarfing the number who did not vote at all. How your MP voted. Here is the BBC story

The vote for assisted suicide was closer, 314 votes to 291, a majority of 23. How your MP voted. Here is the Telegraph’s story

Both measures will now pass to the House of Lords. We shall have to pray their Lordships recognise that neither measure was a manifesto commitment. May they stand up for the people against MPs. Decriminalisation of abortion is opposed by a massive majority of the population. Assisted suicide is approved, but not for the sort of cases of emotional troubles which are where it inevitably ends. Our leaders must repent and turn back to the King of kings:

British Establishment is now pro-abortion

Despite public opinion, according to the Guardian, no fewer than six royal medical colleges, led by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, the Royal College of General Practitioners and the Royal College of Nursing, in addition to the British Medical Association, welcomed and/or actually campaigned for decriminalisation.

Fetal Medicine Research Institute, KIngs College Hospital, Denmark Hill, Windsor Walk, London SE5 8BB
Fetal Medicine Research Institute, Kings College Hospital, Windsor Walk, London SE5 8BB

Also on Friday 20th June 2025 Abortionists calling themselves ‘Doctors for Choice’ (what choice does the baby have?) held an all-day conference in South London. They were openly calling for abortion to be decriminalised with no limits on gestational age, to align England and Wales with Northern Ireland and impose on the United Kingdom the most extreme anti-life legislation possible. Ironically they gathered in the Fetal Medicine Research Institute at London’s Denmark Hill, which is dedicated to saving infant life.

They will see no contradiction. Approving of abortion is now an article of faith among the British establishment. Doctors were more equivocal over assisted suicide, but that made no difference to MPs. They are imposing their death-wish on us all. This may well come to be seen as the week Great Britain died.

Over 1,000 gender-confused Brits ‘changing sex’

Isla Bryson: Transgender rapist in women's jail 'raises safety fears' | Clydebank Post
Isla Bryson: Transgender rapist in women's jail 'raises safety fears' | Clydebank Post

More than one thousand individuals in the United Kingdom were legally recognised as the opposite sex last year, marking the highest number recorded in nearly two decades.

Newly released figures from the Ministry of Justice reveal that 1,169 Gender Recognition Certificates (GRCs) were granted in the year ending March 2025 — more than triple the number issued in 2019–20. Only the first year of the scheme, 2005–06, saw slightly higher numbers at 1,181.

To receive a GRC and an amended birth certificate, applicants must demonstrate they have lived in the opposite gender role for two years, possess a diagnosis of gender dysphoria, and pass review by an official panel.

The Gender Recognition Act, which came into force in 2004, has facilitated a total of 9,633 such recognitions. In 2021, the government reduced the application fee from £140 to just £5, and the process moved online the following year — both measures that may have contributed to the recent increase.

Stop Transgenderism Now!

A generation misled?

Disturbingly, nearly one-quarter of GRCs issued last year went to individuals under the age of 25.

Of all certificates issued, over two-thirds were granted to those born after 1990 — a statistic that raises deep concerns about the cultural and educational influences shaping young minds.

Marriage remains a consideration under the Act; in nearly ten per cent of cases, applicants were married, and spousal consent was legally required to finalise the change.

Freedom of Information disclosures reveal that between 2021 and 2023, over two thousand males were referred by the NHS Gender Dysphoria National Referral Support Services for what is termed “feminising genital surgery.”

Alarmingly, some of these patients were just 18 years old, and over a third of those who underwent surgery at Nuffield Health were under 30.

Stephanie Davies-Arai, founder of Transgender Trend, sounded the alarm: “This is the same cohort of young people indoctrinated as children into believing they have a gender identity and that they are trans, now being referred into adult clinics for irreversible procedures. This is not what medicine is for.”

A crossroads for medicine and morality

Ms Davies-Arai’s words reflect a growing unease among many families and faith communities who see this trend not as progress, but as a troubling departure from truth and biological reality.

She warned: “This will leave these young people with medical problems for the rest of their lives — problems which the NHS will ultimately have to manage.”

The irreversible nature of surgical interventions — involving permanent alterations to healthy bodies — flies in the face of the medical ethos to “first, do no harm.” Yet even as physical changes are made, no surgery can alter God-given identity or erase the spiritual, emotional, and psychological toll such decisions often carry.

Upholding biological reality

Earlier this year, in a landmark ruling, the Supreme Court upheld the definition of “man,” “woman,” and “sex” as biological realities under the Equality Act 2010.

In a unanimous decision, the UK’s highest court sided with the group For Women Scotland, rejecting guidance from the Scottish Government which allowed males with a GRC to occupy positions reserved for women on company boards.

The Justices noted that the legislation could only “function coherently” if sex was interpreted biologically, particularly in areas such as women’s spaces, single-sex services, shared accommodation, and educational institutions.

Their final judgement declared: “The Scottish Government’s guidance is incorrect. A person with a GRC in the female gender does not come within the definition of ‘woman’ for the purposes of sex discrimination in section 11 of the Equality Act.”

This ruling brings much-needed legal clarity and moral encouragement in a time of confusion. For Christians who believe in God’s design for humanity, this affirmation of biological truth is a welcome development — and a reminder that while public sentiment may shift, God’s truth remains unchanging.

Christian Voice falls foul of ‘Prevent’

The UK’s Prevent programme has designated concern over mass migration as a “terrorist ideology” – equating cultural apprehension with extremism.

Christian heritage under threat

Given the said designation, Christian Voice will have no option but to refer ourselves to ‘Prevent’. After all, we are adamant that this country’s Christian heritage is under threat from Muslim immigration and fecundity.

For many years we have been warning that a tipping point is coming at which Muslims will seek to overturn our Christian constitution and seize power. Such an evil may even be seen as a judgment of God on our elites, who have driven the antichristian ‘multicultural’ nightmare for decades now. A civil war could even be the result, all because those in office failed – and to this day refuse – to proclaim the crown rights of King Jesus.

We have characterised the arrival on our shores of thousands of young Muslim men of military age as a threat to our peace and security. Scripture says Islam and Christianity cannot co-exist even on equal terms in a commonwealth, let alone with Islam in the ascendancy:

Exod 34:14 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:
Isa 42:8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

(That Islam is a pagan religion is seen from its practices and its followers’ veneration of a rock in the cube (or ‘Kaaba’) in Mecca.)

No other name but the name of Jesus

We have maintained consistently that secularism can neither contain nor defeat Islam. Only the name and the blood of the Lord Jesus have the power to defeat the barbaric ideology:

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

We have not come lately to this apparently ‘extremist’ position, constantly opposing planning permission for mosques and calling attention to the threat of militant Islam within them. In 2001 we recorded and posted ‘The Secret Halal Meat Scandal’, exposing halal meat secretly on sale in major UK supermarkets. The video has had 213,000 views to date, the second-highest figures for an anti-halal video on YouTube:

Call to arms in a spiritual battle

In 2010 we published our video asking ‘Is Allah Almighty God?’. The answer is ‘No’. Earlier this month in our video exposing the woke elitist ‘NEON’ network we described ‘unfettered immigration’, as ‘both despising and attacking our Christian heritage at the same time.’

We have stood against Sharia courts. We have been holding a monthly prayer meeting opposing the proposed West Ham ‘mega mosque’ since January 2007. In February this year we stood up for the man arrested for burning a Koran, while making clear that is not something we should do.

Christian Voice has long opposed ideological Islamisation—be it proposals, propaganda films on “Allah,” or the slow-burn invasion of fighting-age migrants.

The Hamas and PLO Charters

Even before October 2023 we were alerting the faithful to the inherent antisemitism in Islam.

The atrocity inflicted by Hamas on Jewish people made it imperative to explain how the Hamas Charter (in Article 7) repeats a Muslim article of faith in the Hadith (the sayings of Muhammed)  that Muslims must kill all Jews:

‘You (i.e. Muslims) will fight against the Jews and you will gain victory over them. The stones will (betray them) saying: ‘O ‘Abdullah (i.e. slave of Allah)! There is a Jew hiding behind me; so kill him.’  (Hadith reported by Al-Bukhari).

Hamas is committed by its founding Charter to destroy Israel ‘from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea.’ (So, for that matter, is its sponsor, Shi-ite Iran.)

Although the Charter of the Palestine Liberation Organisation, which is dominated by Fatah and runs Judea and Samaria, popularly known as the ‘West Bank’, does not mention the Hadith, Fatah still aims to expel what it calls ‘Zionism’, that is the State of Israel, through ‘armed struggle’. Watch our video:

The elite hate Jesus Christ!

Christian Voice welcomes reasoned debate on these matters, but we are determined to let scripture illuminate any discussion:

Prov 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Ephesians 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness.

On GB News, Nana Akua ridiculed the absurdity: “It is more likely terrorists would come via dinghy” than people fearing the same.

But the Prevent stance isn’t merely a policy shift—it’s a declaration by the elite of spiritual war against Jesus Christ and the God-given conscience of the people. They must defend their multiculturalist sacred cow (to mix religious metaphors) even against honesty and reality. To suspect Biblical stewardship is to drift even further from any God-given moral compass.

Are we to submit to fear of Islamic migration, or fear of ‘Prevent’, or will we stand firm in conviction? We know which side, and who’s side, we are on! It’s time to speak up.

James 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.

Silencing Concern, Stoking Division

This isn’t hypothetical—it has roots in real events. The 2015 European migrant crisis ignited public fear of cultural displacement (the so-called “Eurabia” narrative).

When ordinary Britons voiced similar concerns in Prevent training, they were marked as extremist.

Similarly, Channel 4’s documentary Islam: The Untold Story was pulled under pressure, silencing mainstream critique of Islamic doctrine. The same stifling mechanism now targets critics of mass migration.

A government that labels reasonable debate as disorder is no longer governing for the people but for itself. It’s not principle, it’s what they think they can get away with.

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Return to the UK’s Christian Constitution →

Preventing Truth Under National Security’s Veil

Prevent claims to combat extremism—but in branding cultural nationalism as extremist, it severs the vital difference between violent ideology and legitimate national concern.

This mirrors accusations during the Southport atrocity, when violent violence went unchecked despite multiple Prevent referrals—and policy failed the vulnerable. There have been more convictions of people protesting against the Southport murders than of those exploiting and raping vulnerable girls.

It’s hypocritical and stupid to call citizens unsafe while real threats go untouched. If our safeguarding systems ignore real dangers and instead police conscience, we have become a fearful, unthinking nation.

2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

A prominent barrister has been accused of openly defying a Supreme Court ruling by entering the women’s lavatories in Westminster’s Portcullis House.

Robin Moira White, who claim to now be a woman has drawn sharp criticism from women’s rights advocates and raised serious questions about the enforcement of legal rulings concerning gender-segregated facilities.

It beggars belief that a man of his profession, sworn to uphold the very tenets of justice, would so brazenly disregard the sanctity of women’s spaces.

His escapade into the female lavatories is a calculated act of defiance, a spit in the face of common sense and the law itself.

This publication has long warned of the erosion of moral boundaries in our society, a trend exacerbated by the radical gender ideology sweeping our nation.

The Bible says,
Proverbs 14:34 solemnly reminds us, “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” White’s actions are a stark reproach, undermining the very fabric of societal order.

Stop Transgenderism Now!

The supreme court’s verdict: A suggestion to some?

Just last month, barrister White shamelessly declared on the BBC’s Woman’s Hour his intent to continue invading women’s spaces, despite the UK Supreme Court’s unequivocal ruling in April.

This landmark judgement clearly stipulated that men, even those armed with a ‘gender-recognition certificate’, have no legal right to access female-only facilities. Yet, the legal “expert” treats this as a mere suggestion, a trivial hurdle to be bypassed at his convenience.

Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

When individuals, particularly those entrusted with legal authority, flout such rulings, they sow seeds of anarchy and chaos.

A tale of intimidation

The disturbing encounter between Mr. White and Kate Harris of LGB Alliance, and Heather Binning of the Women’s Rights Network, speaks volumes.

These brave women, attending a Women and Equalities Select Committee meeting concerning the very Supreme Court judgement White so despises, found themselves followed into the ladies’ room by this towering figure.

According to Ms Binning’s account as seen on the Spiked Online: ‘It was feeling of intimidation in a small space without cameras or security guards, and the sheer audacity of a man, physically imposing, asserting his presence where he absolutely does not belong.’

Her crucial point—that “Silence from other women should not be interpreted by these men as consent”—echoes the unspoken fears of countless women. This is not about ‘kindness’ or ‘courtesy’; it is about a fundamental lack of respect, and indeed, a chilling display of power.

Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

Stockholm Syndrome in Society

Psychologist Dee Graham’s concept of women developing a ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ in response to the physical power imbalance between the sexes, though controversial, provides a chillingly relevant framework for understanding the current climate.

This is a grim survival strategy: the smiles, the flattery, the fake laughs – all deployed to placate a group that, physically, women cannot afford to offend.

This disturbing dynamic, where women, even those in positions of authority within HR departments, quietly yield to demands that compromise female-only spaces, is not born of principle, but of a subconscious drive for self-preservation and reputational damage control.

It is a societal sickness, a departure from the clear order God has established.

1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

The current confusion and erosion of distinct male and female spaces is a stark indicator of our departure from divine order and peace.

MPS vote to decriminalise abortion

A baby of eight weeks gestation, just a month younger than the typical age for abortion
Never ‘part of a woman’s body’. A baby of eight weeks gestation, just a month younger than the typical age for abortion

Parliament has voted to decriminalise abortion for women in England and Wales. This is supposedly in support for women who end their pregnancies outside the existing legal framework, in what is being described by secular campaigners as a “landmark moment.”

The amendment, led by Labour MP Tonia Antoniazzi, passed with support of 379 MPs in favour, 137 against. That is an majority of 242.

This is the most drastic overhaul of abortion law in England and Wales since the 1967 Abortion Act. But beneath the applause of activists and professional bodies lies a chilling reality: the amendment marks the removal of the final legal consequence for ending a human life in the womb.

The previous legal boundary allowed abortion up to 24 weeks, with exceptions for serious risk to the mother’s life or severe fetal abnormality. That was already the most extreme abortion law in Europe. Yet under the new provision, women who bypass these rules—including aborting after 24 weeks—will no longer face prosecution.

For a society that claims to be progressive, this vote is profoundly regressive. It regresses to the oldest deception in history:

Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil.

The Political Theatre of “Compassion”

MPs were allowed a free vote on this “issue of conscience,” yet their conscience appears curiously selective. Where was the conscience for the viable child who, at 24 weeks or less, could survive outside the womb? Or for human life itself, for a baby three weeks from conception with a beating heart?

Where was the conscience when women like Nicola Packer—whose tragic story was cited as justification—delivered stillborn babies after misusing abortion pills? Parliament has responded not with serious reform of support services, but with a callous shrug: just remove the law.

The rhetoric used in support of the amendment was deeply emotive but logically flawed. Supporters painted a picture of vulnerable women being dragged from hospital beds into police custody. This, though tragic in isolated cases, is not what happened. The solution is not to strip legal safeguards, but to ensure fair and informed medical processes, and to treat women with dignity without removing protection for the unborn.

Baby in the womb dehumanised

Proponents like Stella Creasy even went further, pushing for abortion to be enshrined as a ‘human right.’ It isn’t, not in any international human rights instrument. But what of the rights of the child in the womb? What of the human rights of those who will now be aborted with no legal consequence?

The abortionists have to dehumanise the child in the womb, to pretend he or she is not human. That is why our current campaign, ‘What were you in your mother’s womb?’ is devastating to the abortionists.

True compassion balances care for the mother with protection for the child. It does not abandon one to ‘be kind’ to the other.

Proverbs 31:8 Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.

Britain’s History of Abortion Creep

This amendment is not a standalone development. It follows a troubling trajectory in UK abortion policy. In 2020, during the COVID-19 lockdown, the government quietly introduced the ’pills by post’ scheme – allowing women to abort at home without medical supervision. This temporary emergency measure was later made permanent, despite concerns over safety, coercion, and accountability.

Now, with the passage of Antoniazzi’s amendment, abortion law has effectively been hollowed out. While it technically maintains time limits and regulatory conditions, the removal of criminal penalties for violating them renders these rules toothless. It’s legal in theory, unenforced in practice. It’s back-street abortion, which the proponents of abortion in the 1960s professed to be against.

MPs like Dr Caroline Johnson attempted to stem the tide by proposing simple safeguards like mandatory in-person consultations before prescribing abortion medication. Her amendment was defeated. Meanwhile, campaigners with a vested interest, like Heidi Stewart from BPAS, hailed the vote as a victory against ‘archaic laws.’ But the true arc is toward darkness – not progress.

This is a warning to every believer and church in the UK. We must remember how gradual erosion leads to collapse. In 1967, abortion was legalised under strict conditions. Decades later, it’s a routine service. Now, even the mildest legal restraint is too much. We have moved from reluctant acceptance to celebratory abandon. And the victims lie in silence.

Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

A Call to the Church: Resist, Pray, Speak

As MPs cheer what they call “freedom,” the Church must grieve. This vote is not just a political loss; it is a spiritual defeat. It is a signal that Britain has hardened its heart, not only to God’s law but to His mercy. This generation of lawmakers no longer trembles at the thought of innocent blood being shed—because they have redefined it out of existence.

Now more than ever, Christian leaders and believers must rise—not in rage, but in resolve. We must support crisis pregnancy centres, advocate for pro-life education, and ensure that women in distress are met with love, not lies. We must call out political hypocrisy that celebrates death under the name of care and abandon.

We also call upon Parliament to remember its solemn duty—not to trends, not to activists, but to justice. The unborn are not accidents, burdens, or clumps of tissue. They are made in the image of God. Decriminalising their destruction does not remove the stain of it. It simply makes a nation more comfortable in its rebellion.

Let us pray for the reversal of this amendment. Let us speak truth where lies abound. And let us live out the Gospel that values every life, from womb to tomb. For though Parliament may forget, Heaven does not.

Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee.

George Whitefield’s Awakening

George Whitefield
George Whitefield

If you had been at the Bell Inn, in Gloucester England in the 1720’s, you would have witnessed an unusual site. A small boy was acting out a sermon for the entertainment of the guests. It was not uncommon for this boy, the youngest among widow Elizabeth Whitfield’s seven children, to engage in theatrical re-enactments of sermons and Bible stories for the guests at his mother’s inn. But this time, something was different. Reciting the sermon he had heard on Sunday as a type of game, young George Whitfield was quite unprepared for the response he received as some of the onlookers began to weep.

It was a portent of things to come. When George grew up and became a famous preacher, he found that his words had a strange affect on people, provoking emotions for which he was often unprepared.

Born in 1714, George’s childhood was far from easy. His father died when he was only two, leaving the running of the inn to Elizabeth. After a disastrous second marriage and divorce, George’s older brother eventually took over the management of the inn, while George was sent to the cathedral school of Saint Mary.

From an early age George had showed a keen interest in matters of religion. However, as Stephen Mansfield reflects in his biography of Whitefield, the boy was not without a touch of paradox. “He stole money from his mother’s purse but then used it to buy religious books. He would fight viciously with boys in the streets and then fall weeping on the floor of his bedroom to pray for the souls of those he had just pummeled. His brothers and sisters thought he loved church just because it was a grand drama that suited his vain, theatrical little mind, but his mother later found him asking such astute questions that she knew something of the divine was penetrating his soul Sunday after Sunday.”

It didn’t take long for Daniel Bond, the master at the cathedral school, to appreciate George’s gifts. George thrived under the tutelage of Mr. Bond, who helped to hone George’s skills in the dramatic and rhetorical arts.

As a result of declining family circumstances, when he was fifteen George returned to work at the inn. He was prepared to spend the rest of his life as a common tradesman, but the Lord had other plans. Through the generosity of friends, George had an opportunity to attend Oxford two years later.

Oxford and the Methodist Movement

While studying at Pembroke College, Whitefield was exposed to a group called the ‘Holy Club’, which later became known as the Methodist movement. The small but growing circle included the Wesley brothers and was characterized by religious enthusiasm and a rigorous commitment to the disciplines of the spiritual life. Even before being drawn into the group, Whitefield had been attempting to order his life by the rigours of regular fasting, prayer, devotions, Bible study and self-denial. After meeting the Wesleys and reading a copy of Scougal’s The Life of God in the Soul of Man, Whitefield entered a season of extremes, seeking to pursue holiness by an even more rigorous schedule of legalistic disciplines, excessive fasting and self-inflicted suffering. He even spent long hours in the snow, went for days without sleeping, deliberately failed his classes, went about the university unkempt and endured long fasts in which he nearly starved to death.

George finally collapsed and had to be confined to bed for seven weeks. It was during his time in hospital that he experienced an event which he interpreted as being his conversion. It is best described in his own words:

“One day, perceiving an uncommon drought and a disagreeable clamminess in my mouth and using things to allay my thirst, but in vain, it was suggested to me that when Jesus Christ cried out, ‘I thirst,’ His sufferings were near at an end. Upon which, I cast myself down on the bed, crying out, ‘I thirst! I thirst!’ Soon after this, I found and felt in myself that I was delivered from the burden that had so heavily oppressed me. The spirit of mourning was taken from me, and I knew what it was truly to rejoice in God my Saviour and, for some time, could not avoid singing psalms wherever I was: but my joy gradually became more settled, and, blessed by God, has abode and increased in my soul, and, as I humbly hope, seal me unto the day of redemption.”

Despite his recovered joy, George was too sick to continue his studies. The excessive fasts had taken their toll and he would never be the same again. Nevertheless, he made up for this with a renewed spiritual energy that found expression in visiting prisoners, forming societies modeled on the “Holy Club”, attending prayer meetings, helping the poor, and theological study that resulted in him embracing the doctrines of grace. When he was finally able to return to Oxford, he entered into discussions with Bishop Benson about being ordained to the Anglican clergy. Thus it was that in 1736 at 22-years of age, George Whitfield became a priest for the Church of England, a position he would hold until the day of his death.

The Young Clergyman

Whitefield preached his first sermon in the church where he had been baptised and had gone to school. The message was nothing unusual – just a twenty minute talk on the need for Christian community. However, the effect on the crowd was electrifying. Fifteen onlookers reportedly became “drunk in the Spirit” while others deeply resented the “boy parson” for the disorder he allegedly caused in the church that day.

As he settled into the work of a clergyman, opinion continued to be sharply polarized about the young minister. Many of the clergy accused him of encouraging fanaticism or of having an ulterior agenda.

In order to be near the “Holy Club” and the Methodist movement, Whitefield assumed duties in the town of Oxford. Later he went to London and Bristol to minister. Larger and larger crowds began to flock to the churches where they could hear his moving oratory, while increasingly remarkable displays of the Holy Spirit began to be manifested in the lives of those listening to his sermons. Before long, all of England had become electrified by Whitefield’s message of repentance and salvation.

It is easy to appreciate why Whitefield held such appeal. In an age where clergymen prided themselves on sophisticated intellectualism, Whitefield offered a refreshing contrast. He spoke in language that was easily accessible to lay people, even incorporating jokes and stories into his sermons.

The reports from those who attended Whitefield’s preaching would be easy to dismiss as bizarre if it were not for the fact that they were repeatedly confirmed by hundreds of eye witnesses. Not only did sinners repent and turn to Jesus and not only did believers come away with a renewed commitment to faithfulness, but onlookers would begin to find themselves shaking uncontrollably while others would fall to the ground and weep hysterically. Still others would scream in terror as they perceived visions of hell. Some actually felt the sensation of being on fire.

It didn’t take long before Whitefield was a national phenomenon and could hardly walk to the store without being followed by a crowd of onlookers. Conscious of his own struggles with pride, Whitefield was careful always to deflect the glory to Jesus.

Awakening America

In 1738 when he was only 25 years old, Whitefield decided to follow John Wesley’s example and go to Georgia. It was the first of seven tours to the colonies. Whitefield was an immediate sensation in the New World, provoking enormous support as well as fierce opposition.

The size of the crowds he drew in America was phenomenal. As soon as news got out that Whitefield was preaching in a town, commerce would cease and the entire population would flock to hear him. One sermon he preached in the Boston Common drew more listeners than Boston’s entire population.

For the rest of his life Whitefield had a special burden for America. He studied the spiritual heritage of the land and urged his listeners to return to the vision of the Puritans who had been some of the first to colonize the land. Whitefield’s wish was largely granted, and even the skeptic Benjamin Franklin was obliged to remark that “From being thoughtless or indifferent about religion, it seemed as if all the world were growing religious, so that one could not walk through the town in an evening without hearing psalms sung in different families of every street.”

From Pulpit to Hedgerow

After returning from his first visit to America, Whitefield found the situation in England greatly changed. John Wesley had decided to publically attack Whitefield for his Calvinist views, causing the work of revival to be fractured. This deeply hurt Whitefield who, though a staunch Anglican Calvinist, had always put a premium on the unity of all believers and had worked hard to break down denominational barriers. Now, thanks to John Wesley, the revivalist movement began to be divided between “followers of Wesley” vs. “followers of Whitefield.” Although the two men were later reconciled, it was too late and the revival movement had become deeply fractured.

Opposition from other quarters increased, and Whitefield found that many of the English pulpits where he had previously preached were now closed to him. While this may have been Satan’s plan to stop his message from getting out, it was the best thing that could have happened because it forced Whitefield to do something previously unprecedented since the time of the early church: he began preaching out of doors.

Although heavily criticized for the move, Whitefield’s ‘field preaching’ allowed him take his message directly to the people, many of whom had never set foot in an actual church. The result was that larger and larger crowds began to attend his preaching, and there was nothing the sterile clergy could do to stop it. Everyone wanted to come and listen to Whitefield preach, even if they had to travel great distances. In a span of only few months, Whitefield preached to somewhere between eight hundred thousand to a million people. Thus, the revival movement later known as “the Great Awakening,” began to accelerate.

Marriage and Family

In 1737, an event occurred for which Whitefield was unprepared: he fell in love. He first met Elizabeth Delamotte in 1737 when he had been a guest in her parents’ home. Known for her stunning beauty, Whitefield became enamored with her.

With their emphasis on self-denial, the “Methodists” often had no understanding of how to enjoy the present life. Even God-given earthly pleasures like family, food and music, were seen to be a distraction from the pursuit of holiness. Similarly, with their emphasis on getting as many people as possible to go to heaven when they died, the revivalists often failed to have the generational focus that we find in evangelists like Boniface and Chalmers. Whitefield was not immune to these tendencies and viewed family as a possible hindrance to the work of ministry. Thus, when he proposed to Elizabeth, Whitefield made clear that his arduous travelling ministry would continue unabated even after marriage. In his proposal letter, Whitefield assured Elizabeth that he was free from the “passionate expressions” of love and coldly stated: “I have great reason to believe it is the divine will that I should alter my condition, and have often thought that you [were] the person appointed for me.”

It is not surprising that Elizabeth rejected the tepid proposal. Later Whitefield had another opportunity to marry. Whitefield’s friend, Howell Harris, had fallen in love with a woman, again named Elizabeth, but decided he wanted “no creature between my soul and God.” In order to remove Elizabeth from his life, Howell offered her to Whitefield.

It was not an easy marriage. During their honeymoon, George maintained a schedule of preaching twice a day. Most of his married life was spent away from home on his various preaching tours. During one season, when Elizabeth did try to travel with her husband, it was so stressful that she miscarried four times in sixteen months. On the day of his only son’s funeral, he preached even as the bells for the funeral service chimed.

Opposition to Whitefield

Whitefield had appeared on the scene at a critical time in England’s history. The secularism of the Enlightenment had eroded away the Christian fabric of the nation, making Deism the fashionable viewpoint for those who wished to appear ‘modern’ and intelligent. This paradigm shift had come with a heavy cost, with the result that England in the early 18th century was a brutal place to live. Rampant immorality, pervasive drunkenness, cruelty to the poor at home and to slaves abroad, gluttony, child abuse and violent public pastimes were all accepted as normal by the majority of the population. Moreover, the masses were becoming unstable, fuelled with the same revolutionary ideas that would later find expression in the bloody French revolution.

Even among the clergy, many of these vices had become fashionable pastimes. After returning from England in 1731, the French essayist Montesquieu revealingly commented that “A converted minister is as rare as a comet.”

It was against this decadent world that Whitefield set himself every time he opened his mouth to preach. And not surprisingly, he made many enemies from those who wished to carry on with business as usual. Whitefield’s enemies would frequently try to disrupt his meetings by blowing loud trumpets and shouting obscenities. On some occasions violent mobs would actually attack those who were listening to his preaching, maiming the men and stripping off the women’s clothing. There are even reports of women being raped during his services. Whitefield also suffered acutely from this vehement hatred, being stoned once, clubbed twice, whipped on at least half a dozen occasions and beaten an equal number of times. It was not infrequent for his sermons to be interrupted by having stones, dirt, manure and pieces of dead cat thrown in his face. On one occasion a man climbed a tree above where Whitefield was preaching. In an attempt to divert attention away from Whitefield, the man pulled down his trousers and exposed himself to the crowd. Failing to achieve the diversion he desired, the man began to urinate on Whitefield.

Spiritual Legacy

Considering his accomplishments, it is not surprising that the devil hated Whitefield. It is almost impossible to assess the cultural transformations spawned by Whitefield’s preaching in Great Britain and America. Many historians believe it was the preaching of Whitefield and Wesley that saved England from its own counterpart of the French revolution.

Although primarily remembered for his preaching, Whitefield was also a strategic builder involved in many projects, including having contributed to the founding of both Princeton and the University of Pennsylvania. He also started a number of publishing companies in addition to an orphanage in Georgia.

Despite the manifold legacy he left behind, George had no desire to be famous or to be remembered as a great man. “When I die,” he once wrote, “the only epitaph that I desire to be engraved upon my tombstone is ‘Here lies George Whitefield; what sort of man he was the great day will discover.’”
