Christian Voice Website Cyber Attack!

How a DDOS attack works – The attacker recruits thousands of slave computers to send simultaneous requests to the target website.

Yesterday, the Christian Voice website was off-line most of the day after coming under a massive cyber-attack.  We apologise to our members and readers but there was nothing we could do.

Our web host reported at 8:22 am: ‘A few moments ago the Christian Voice website began to come under a massive DDOS attack which quickly crippled the server.

‘You’ve probably upset some people!  We see these from time to time – it’s usually outspoken Christians who get targetted.

‘I’ve had to temporarily suspend it, as the attackers had sufficient resources to bring down the whole shared-hosting machine – if you were paying for dedicated hosting, i.e. only your website on a single machine belonging to you, you’d still be brought down.

‘The scale of the attack was the largest we’ve ever seen. When people have enough resources, they can bring Amazon down.

‘Sadly, launching powerful attacks is very cheap these days. You can go onto the Internet’s “underground” and hire the computing capacity of thousands of virus infected computers for a few minutes for a few dollars, and that’s enough to bring down a few servers.’

In the Police and Justice Act 2006, the United Kingdom specifically outlawed denial-of-service attacks and set a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.  But the attack was from faked IP addresses which cannot be traced.

Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said today:

‘This attack on our website is encouraging.  I don’t know whether it was Secularirists or Islamists we have upset beyond measure, but clearly someone out there thinks Christian Voice is doing such a great job we have to be disrupted.  So by the grace of God we’ll stand up for Jesus Christ and for righteousness all the more.’

Jeremy Hunt’s abortion view ‘untenable’

Baby in its amniotic sac eight weeks from conception

Jeremy Hunt’s view that the abortion limit should be halved to 12 weeks is untenable, says the National Director of Christian Voice.

The Health Secretary said he believed there is a moral case for cutting the current time limit of 24 weeks.
“Everyone looks at the evidence and comes to a view about when they think that moment is, and my own view is that 12 weeks is the right point for it,” Mr Hunt told The Times.

Mr Hunt, who was appointed to his post last month, denied that his view on abortion was based on religious belief.

He said: “It’s just my view about that incredibly difficult question about the moment that we should deem life to start. I don’t think the reason I have that view is for religious reasons.”

David Steel and Yvette Cooper would allow the legalised killing of this unborn child 20 weeks after conception

Prime Minister David Cameron, Culture Secretary Maria Miller and Home Secretary Theresa May backed a reduction of four weeks, to twenty weeks, but Mr Cameron stressed there were no plans to bring legislation forward.

Some Christian groups have urged their members to write and thank Mr Hunt, Mrs May and Mrs Miller but Anthony Ozimic of the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children said any move to reduce the abortion limit was doomed to failure. “There is a large pro-abortion majority in parliament which will ensure that any time-limiting amendments are rejected while using the opportunity to push for pro-abortion amendments,” he said.

“The real political debate about abortion in the UK should focus – as it does elsewhere in the world – on the right to life of all unborn children and on the way governments bankroll abortion access at home and abroad.”

Andrew Stephenson of Abort67 agreed. A Parliamentary debate “may allow the pro-aborts to slip in amendments to make access to abortion easier.”  He said a reduction might save a few babies from death but pointed out that well over 90% of abortions take place in the first trimester (13 weeks and below) in any case.

A baby in its amniotic sac less than a month after conception, sadly removed because it was growing ectopically, in the mother’s fallopian tube. Abortion can always be allowed to save the life of the mother – but not her lifestyle!

On a positive note, Mr Stephenson said:

“Any attack on the abortion industry is a good thing.  This puts them on the defensive and causes them to speak.  If you have listened to the abortion advocates speak you will know that they always provide us with new openings to expose how deceptive and corrupt they really are.   We want them to keep speaking!

“It also shows that there is growing discontent for the status quo.  When MPs feel they can stand up for issues that would have previously been considered too contentious they must know that things are changing; over 63% of people (and increasing) in a recent poll support a total ban on abortion.”

Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said:

“I am totally perplexed by Mr Hunt’s logic. Why should we ‘deem life to start’ at twelve weeks when all organs are in place at eight weeks, the baby’s heart is already beating four weeks after conception and all genetic material is there when sperm meets egg? His view is simply untenable.”  (See link here.)

Mr Hunt’s remarks drew a predictable tirade of abuse from abortionists and their supporters.

Lord Steel, the unrepentant architect of the Abortion Act 1967, responsible for the deaths of over 6 million British children, “expressed his dismay” while shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper described Mr Hunt’s remarks as “chilling”.

“David Cameron needs to make sure his health secretary doesn’t distort medical evidence and does not impose his own view on women about their health,” she said.

Stephen Green responded:

Child in the womb at 16 weeks gestation – an entirely separate human being from his mother.

“All but a handful of abortions are carried out on perfectly healthy women who just find this new human being growing inside them inconvenient.  As for medical evidence, Yvette Cooper merely needs to look at the wonderful new catalogue of images of children in the womb.  And if she wants something really ‘chilling’, she could take a look at the results of abortion.”  The results of abortion – pictures here.

Banks support Stonewall ‘Bigot’ dinner

Antony Jenkins, Chief Executive of Barclays, is giving cash to Stonewall as they call their opponents ‘bigots’

Two banks and a leading firm of accountants are sponsoring a homosexual group as it goes about its annual name-calling exercise.

Barclays Bank, Coutts Bank and Price Waterhouse Cooper (PWC) are named as sponsors of Stonewall, the ‘gay rights’ lobby group, on an advertisement for this year’s awards dinner, which includes an award for ‘Bigot of the Year’.

The homosexual group’s awards dinner takes place at the Victoria and Albert Museum on Thursday 1st November 2012 and is likely to be the focus of a street witness.

The awards are mainly to applaud people who have advanced the homosexual cause in some way, and are being sponsored by major firms.  Barclays Bank are sponsoring the ‘sports award’, Coutts Bank are funding ‘writer of the year’ and PWC are sponsoring ‘hero of the year’

The Earl of Home, Chairman of Coutts, which is sponsoring the Stonewall awards

But Stonewall are not satisfied with congratulating those who have advanced their cause.  They have to insult their opponents.

So among the awards is an anti-award called ‘Bigot of the Year’ intended to insult and vilify people particularly opposed to the gay rights agenda. Those shortlisted this year are Christian politician Alan Craig, the Ugandan Ethics and Integrity Minister, Simon Lokodo, Lord Maginnis, Cardinal Keith O’Brien and Archbishop Philip Tartaglia.

Previous ‘nominees’ and ‘winners’ have included the Bishop of Hereford, Rt Rev Anthony Priddis, Northern Ireland politician Iris Robinson, journalist Jan Moir, Chris Grayling MP, the Earl of Devon, Lillian Ladele, Frederick Forsyth, A.A. Gill of The Sunday Times, Rt Rev Arthur Roche, hotelier Susanne Wilkinson, Melanie Phillips, Scottish entrepreneur Sir Brian Souter, Bill Walker, MSP and Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice.

In response, Alan Craig said: “The Bigot of the Year Award is a vicious name-calling Stonewall annual event that reflects more on the donor than the recipient.

Philip Powell is Chairman and Senior Partner of Price Waterhouse Coopers, sponsors of the Stonewall awards.

“By attempting to bully, intimidate, humiliate and generate hatred of individuals through the award, Stonewall fully justifies the Gaystapo tag which I gave the organisation and for which apparently I have been nominated.”

Mr Craig continued: “Nonetheless if I win the award over the other candidates and if Stonewall invite me, and permit me without harassment to offer a proper acceptance speech, I plan to attend their awards dinner and ceremony”.

Alan Craig’s gauntlet is unlikely to be taken up.  In previous years Stonewall have never found the courtesy or the courage to invite to their dinner any of those shortlisted for ‘Bigot of the Year’.

Stephen Green added: ‘Bullies never like it when someone stands up to them.  Or perhaps social intercourse is just not one of Stonewall’s strong points.’

Last year, the Nationwide Building Socety gave £60,000 to Stonewall for the dinner (which did not stop the greedy lobby group from charging £180 a ticket) and they gave £5,000 as a prize to the ‘Community Group of the Year’.  Nationwide have pulled out of sponsoring any more Stonewall events following adverse publicity.

In an email, Mark McLane, Barclays Director of Global Diversity and Inclusion, said:

‘As part of what is a positive longstanding relationship with Stonewall we were approached to see if we would be willing to sponsor a category for the 2012 Awards, which we agreed to do – the Sports Personality of the Year – on the understanding that the awards are a celebration of diversity and positive impact in our communities.

‘I have recently been made aware of the inclusion of a ‘Bigot of the Year’ category in the awards. Let me be absolutely clear that Barclays does not support that award category either financially, or in principle and have informed Stonewall that should they decide to continue with this category we will not support this event in the future. To label any individual so subjectively and pejoratively runs contrary to our view on fair treatment, and detracts from what should be a wholly positively focused event.’

To date, Coutts and PWC have refused to condemn the ‘bigot’ award’.

Stephen Green said: ‘Barclays have not yet pulled out of Stonewall’s event this year despite their welcome condemnation of the ‘bigot’ award.  They are in our view still associated with Stonewall’s name-calling.  But the refusal of Coutts and PWC to condemn the ‘bigot’ award is quite staggering.’

Please sign our Petition:

We the undersigned believe that the homosexual Stonewall group’s ‘Bigot of the Year’ award is a shameless piece of bullying and name-calling.

We are aghast that Barclays Bank, Coutts Bank and Price Waterhouse Cooper (PWC) are named as sponsors of Stonewall’s awards dinner on the website page for this year’s event on 1st November, at which a public figure will be insulted and vilified as ‘bigot of the year’.

We call on Barclays Bank, Coutts Bank and PWC to stop sponsoring this aggressive, immature and divisive group forthwith.

Evangelist not guilty in Tesco case

Stephen Green congratulates Raj Bhachoo outside Dartford Magistrates Court after his victory on 24th September 2012

A Christian evangelist has been found not guilty of a public order offence after he handed out leaflets criticising Tesco’s decision to donate £30,000 to the 2012 London Gay Pride parade.

Raj Bhachoo, a Christian Voice member, was arrested, kept in a police cell for hours and charged with “threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour” under Section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986 following a complaint by the manageress during a leafleting exercise outside the Tesco store in Gravesend, Kent in January 2012

The case was due to be heard by Dartford Magistrates this morning. But on reviewing the evidence and recent legal decisions including that involving Sandown Free Presbyterian Church, the prosecuting barrister offered no evidence.

The magistrates duly dismissed the case.

Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, was asked by the defence to give evidence in the case, but, for the second time in a case involving Mr Bhachoo, his evidence was in the event not required.

Mr Green also prepared expert evidence for a case in March of this year when Raj Bhachoo was acquitted after sending a highly critical email to the Stonewall lobby group.  A key Stonewall witness failed to turn up in court and the case collapsed.

Michael Phillips, solicitor, represented Raj Bhachoo on both occasions.

Just a week ago, Mr Phillips represented two Christians from the Abort67 group, seeing all charges against them thrown out by magistrates in Brighton.  Last February, Michael Overd faced a trial in Taunton after two homosexuals objected to his preaching.  Mr Overd, who subsequently joined Christian Voice, was also acquitted.

In September 2006, Stephen Green was himself arrested, locked in the cells for four hours and charged under the same Section 5 by the South Wales Police Minorities Support Unit for handing out evangelistic leaflets at the homosexual Cardiff Mardi Gras.  At the subsequent hearing, an embarrassed prosecutor dropped all charges.

Stephen Green said today: ‘Christians just keep winning these Section 5 freedom of speech cases. It is not against the law to preach against sodomy, to tell the public the facts about homosexual lifestyles, nor to display graphic images of the effects of abortion. These things might upset people, but they are not threatening, they are not abusive, they are not insulting and they are not against the law.

‘We actually need no change in the law, but we do need police forces and the Crown Prosecution Service to provide training to officers and prosecutors on the law and on their duty to protect people exercising their freedom of expression.

‘In the abortion case, the police officer who attended admitted in court that the only training he had ever had on the implications of freedom of speech was ten years ago.’

Bill Gates and the Lucis Trust

Warren Buffett with Melinda and Bill Gates

Warren Buffett with Melinda and Bill Gates – Lucis Trust links?

One of our correspondents mentioned Luciferianism in connection with Bill and Melinda Gates, so we decided to investigate.

A web search led to Henry Makow’s article Bill Gates: Satanist in Sheep’s Clothes?  That led to the Lucis Trust, a disarmingly wacky New Age outfit with a surprising reach into the United Nations and the pockets of the wealthy.

Some years back, we were on the mailing list of the Lucis Trust.  They claim to be in touch with ‘the Ascended Masters’ (that’s demons to you and me) and to be working for ‘World Goodwill’ and ‘the planet’.  They observe ancient witchcraft festivals and enthuse over the phases of the moon and ‘spiritual energy‘.

Support Christian Voice →

Lucis Trust is a UN NGO

The Lucis Trust actually has consultative status as an NGO at the United Nations.  Lucis Trust has an international board of trustees.  They have been said to include John D Rockefeller and Robert McNamara, but there are no well-known names today.  The Lucis Trust Website lists the names of the current trustees.  These broadly agree with the ones listed by the UK Charities Commission.  The trust spent £495,300 according to its last accounts.

The Lucis Trust was founded by the theosophist Alice Bailey, a disciple of occultist Madame Helena Blavatsky.  There is more on Alice Bailey here as well as some strange stuff about an investment bank.  Bailey wrote of the one we call Satan:

‘For it is he who was the “Harbinger of Light,” bright radiant Lucifer, who opened the eyes of automaton (Adam) created by Jehovah, as alleged; and he who was first to whisper, “In the day ye eat thereof, ye shall be as Elohim, knowing good and evil” — can only be regarded in the light of a Saviour.’

That is Luciferianism in a nutshell, turning Christian theology on its head.  The Almighty becomes the bad guy and Lucifer the altruistic bringer of enlightenment.

Gates has financially supported Lucis Trust

The Lucis Trust has an offshoot called the New Group of World Servers‘.  These are ‘group forerunners of the (sic) Christ’.  We found the Gates Foundation in a List of Financial Groups in the New Group of World Servers.  But that page has mysteriously disappeared.

The Lucis Trust logo symbolises the rising of Lucifer as the morning sun

We also found a glowing reference to the Gates Foundation on the Lucis Trust website.  Appropriately, it was in a 2010 report on a conference about money, which the Lucis Trust like (a lot).  They talk about ‘the divine circulatory flow’ of money.  Naturally, that’s mainly when it comes to them.  And it appears that is exactly what money from Gates has done.  Strangely, the current webpage omits what we found in a previous gushing version about their donors:

‘Today there is a small but influential minority of responsible and wealthy citizens and organizations who are taking action and showing great leadership in alleviating the current sufferings. The ones we may have heard about are Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, George Soros, John D. Rockefeller, Henry Ford Foundation, Andrew Carnegie Endowment, as well as many others. These philanthropic efforts are certainly making constructive and positive impacts as well as setting a necessary example to other wealthy billionaires on how money can be channeled towards constructive means to help rebuild a better civilization, restore the divine circulatory flow and heal and uplift people from the scourge of poverty, war and disease.’

United Religions Initiative

Bill Gates, George Soros and the Lucis Trust World Service Fund are all said to have financed the United Religions Initiative.  Unsurprisingly, that was an interfaith movement with UN links.  It was founded in 1995 by Episcopalian Bishop William Spring.

Apart from Gates, Soros, Rockefeller, Ford and Carnegie are key players developing the doctrine of one-world government.  They are also spreading the immorality of abortion and sodomy mainly in Africa and Asia.  Warren Buffet’s donation of $3.17 billion to the Gates Foundation earlier in 2017 was widely reported.  Another sizeable donation in 2012 made Gates the world’s biggest donating foundation, outstripping both Ford and Rockefeller.  Warren Buffett is in favour of higher taxes and big government.  Additionally, he is pro-abortion, just like Bill and Melinda Gates.

Warren Buffet said of eugenics and abortion giant Planned Parenthood: “If by some magic we could make every child born in this country a wanted child, we would have incredibly fewer problems in all areas of society. The closest thing we have to that magic is Planned Parenthood.”  William H Gates Sr, Bill Gates’ father, was head of Planned Parenthood.

Bangladeshi ambassador

A brief and revealing summing-up of the 2010 Lucis conference is here.  It was addressed by Ambassador Anwarul K. Chowdhury.  He was the Bangladeshi ambassador to the United Nations before taking up a post there as UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries.  He is therefore a UN insider.  The other speaker was one Barbara L. Valocore.

Steve Nation is on the boards of both the Lifebridge Foundation and Lucis Trust UK and is Co-Convenor of the Council of the ‘Spiritual Caucus at the United Nations’

Who is she?  She is ‘a long-time student of the Ageless Wisdomand President of the Lifebridge Foundation, Inc.  That’s a New Age group, a little like the UK-based Findhorn Foundation.  It is based near Rosendale, a town 80 miles up the Hudson river from New York.  Lifebridge give grants (promoting their ‘holistic vision’) to groups advocating the environmentalist New Age agenda.  One recipient has been the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers.  Lifebridge see all creation as alive.  Thy even carry a report by biologist Rupert Sheldrake on a summer-solstice conference asking if the sun is conscious.  They share two trustees, activist Steve Nation, and his ‘partner’ Barbara Valocore, with the Lucis Trust.

The same two are council members of the creepy UN Spiritual Caucus.  More on them here.

World Servers

The Lucis Trust organised a Festival for the New Group of World Servers from 21st to 28th December 2012. This happens once every seven years.  It is always an important target for our prayer, particularly the culminating full moon.  Appropriately enough, the key event was held at the Lifebridge Sanctuary:

‘For the Festival Week, the Rosendale World Service Group will be hosting a gathering at Lifebridge Sanctuary for the duration of the Week (December 21 – 28). The gathering will feature service meditations in support of the New Group of World Servers and study from the Alice Bailey books concentrating on the needs of humanity during this critical time of transition.

‘There will be a public gathering in observation of the Solstice (focused on the New Group of World Servers) for the local community, as well as a public meditation meeting for the full moon. The group staying at the Sanctuary will be meditating during the actual time of the full moon.’

Aussie MPs reject ‘gay marriage’

The rainbow diversity flag has had a welcome setback.

In a landmark vote, Australian MPs have overwhelmingly rejected a bill which would have legalised ‘gay marriage’ reports Agence France Press.

The House of Representatives voted down the bill to legalise marriage between same sex couples by 98 to 42, with Labour Prime Minister Julia Gillard and opposition conservative leader Tony Abbott both voting against it.

Only 2 out of 30 Queensland MPs voted to change the definition of marriage, with many making powerful arguments against the innovation.

During the days of debate on the bill, one senator lost his parliamentary post after referring to sex with animals.

Liberal Senator Cory Bernardi asked what the next step would be if the government redefined marriage so that two people of the same sex could ‘marry’.

“The next step, quite frankly, is having three people or four people that love each other being able to enter into a permanent union endorsed by society,” he told the Senate.

Cory Bernardi

“There are even some creepy people out there… (who) say it is okay to have consensual sexual relations between humans and animals. Will that be a future step?”

Former Liberal Party leader Malcolm Turnbull described Mr Bernardi’s comments as “hysterical, alarmist, offensive”.

The Liberal leader Tony Abbott said Mr Bernardi offered to resign his position as his parliamentary secretaryand he had accepted.

Mr Abbott is said to be a staunch Catholic and opinion polls suggest he could become prime minister when an election is held next year.

“I’ve known Cory for a long time. He’s a decent bloke with strong opinions,” said Mr Abbott, but he said his comments had been ill-judged.

“They are views that I don’t share,” Abbott told reporters. “They are views which I think many people will find repugnant.”

In the UK, Ulster Unionist peer Lord Maginnis resigned from the Ulster Unionist Party last month after similar remarks.

Australia does not permit gay marriage, though some states allow civil unions.

Gay rights activists called the decision a “slap on the face,” ABC News reported.

Astonishingly, in view of her vote against gay marriage, Aussie premier Julia Gillard is supporting an Australian bid to host the 2014 homosexual rugby world cup – if anyone can believe such an event actually takes place.

Almighty God appears to think there is a link between sodomy and bestiality, as the book of Leviticus states:

Lev 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
Lev 18:23 Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.

Update: The Australian Senate has followed suit a day later, voting 41 to 26 against redefining marriage.

Mark Steyn on Hate Speech

The European courts are currently having to navigate through an increasingly complex network of rights, and to adjudicate between competing rights and desires when they bump up against each other.

As I was reflecting on this, Daniel Hannan reminded me of an amusing anecdote that Mark Steyn shared last year. After discussing the absurdities in hate crime legislation, Steyn pointed out how the exact same words can  simultaneously be legal or illegal depending on who the perceived victim happens to be. He writes,

…the very same words can be proof of two entirely different hate crimes. Iqbal Sacranie is a Muslim of such exemplary “moderation” he’s been knighted by the Queen. The head of the Muslim Council of Britain, Sir Iqbal was interviewed on the BBC and expressed the view that homosexuality was “immoral,” was “not acceptable,” “spreads disease,” and “damaged the very foundations of society.” A gay group complained and Sir Iqbal was investigated by Scotland Yard’s “community safety unit” for “hate crimes” and “homophobia.”

Independently but simultaneously, the magazine of GALHA (the Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association) called Islam a “barmy doctrine” growing “like a canker” and deeply “homophobic.” In return, the London Race Hate Crime Forum asked Scotland Yard to investigate GALHA for “Islamophobia.”

Got that? If a Muslim says that Islam is opposed to homosexuality, Scotland Yard will investigate him for homophobia; but if a gay says that Islam is opposed to homosexuality, Scotland Yard will investigate him for Islamophobia.

Two men say exactly the same thing and they’re investigated for different hate crimes.

That was taken from Mark Steyn’s article ‘Gagging us Softly.’ The value of his article goes beyond merely drawing attention to the absurd situations which arise when the right of free speech is qualified by the right of minority groups not to be criticized. Steyn also shows a more sinister agenda at work once Westerners grow comfortable having the state micro-regulate their public discourse.

Mark Steyn

Across almost all the Western world apart from America, the state grows ever more comfortable with micro-regulating public discourse—and, in fact, not-so-public discourse: Lars Hedegaard, head of the Danish Free Press Society, has been tried, been acquitted, had his acquittal overruled, and been convicted of “racism” for some remarks about Islam’s treatment of women made (so he thought) in private but taped and released to the world. The Rev. Stephen Boissoin was convicted of the heinous crime of writing a homophobic letter to his local newspaper and was sentenced by Lori Andreachuk, the aggressive social engineer who serves as Alberta’s “human rights” commissar, to a lifetime prohibition on uttering anything “disparaging” about homosexuality ever again in sermons, in newspapers, on radio—or in private e-mails. Note that legal concept: not “illegal” or “hateful,” but merely “disparaging.” Dale McAlpine, a practicing (wait for it) Christian, was handing out leaflets in the English town of Workington and chit-chatting with shoppers when he was arrested on a “public order” charge by Constable Adams, a gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community-outreach officer. Mr. McAlpine had been overheard by the officer to observe that homosexuality is a sin. “I’m gay,” said Constable Adams. Well, it’s still a sin, said Mr. McAlpine. So Constable Adams arrested him for causing distress to Con¬stable Adams….
In such a climate, time-honored national characteristics are easily extinguished. A generation ago, even Britain’s polytechnic Trots and Marxists were sufficiently residually English to feel the industrial-scale snitching by family and friends that went on in Communist Eastern Europe was not quite cricket, old boy. Now England is Little Stasi-on-Avon, a land where, even if you’re well out of earshot of the gay-outreach officer, an infelicitous remark in the presence of a co-worker or even co-playmate is more than sufficient. Fourteen-year-old Codie Stott asked her teacher at Harrop Fold High School whether she could sit with another group to do her science project as in hers the other five pupils spoke Urdu and she didn’t understand what they were saying. The teacher called the police, who took her to the station, photographed her, fingerprinted her, took DNA samples, removed her jewelry and shoelaces, put her in a cell for three and a half hours, and questioned her on suspicion of committing a Section Five “racial public-order offence.” “An allegation of a serious nature was made concerning a racially motivated remark,” declared the headmaster, Antony Edkins. The school would “not stand for racism in any form.” In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said they took “hate crime” very seriously, and their treatment of Miss Stott was in line with “normal procedure.”…
Restrictions on freedom of speech undermine the foundations of justice, including the bedrock principle: equality before the law. When it comes to free expression, Britain, Canada, Australia, and Europe are ever less lands of laws and instead lands of men—and women, straights and gays, Muslims and infidels—whose rights before the law vary according to which combination of these various identity groups they belong to.

Nick Clegg in ‘Bigotgate’ row

Nick Clegg – ‘What did I just say?’

A red-faced Nick Clegg has had to withdraw remarks he was going to make branding opponents of gay marriage “bigots”.

A draft of his speech, circulated to the press in advance of Mr Clegg’s speech to be given to a gathering of homosexual activists last night, had the atheist Deputy Prime Minister saying:

“Continued trouble in the economy gives the bigots a stick to beat use with, as they demand we ‘postpone’ the equalities agenda in order to deal with ‘the things people really care about’.”

An hour later, aides were scrambling around trying to recall the press release, and releasing a sanitised version in which ‘the bigots’ was replaced by ‘some people’

The row brings to mind Gordon Brown’s ‘Bigotgate’ when he described a lifelong Labour supporter, Mrs Gillian Duffy, who happened to mention Eastern Europeans in an exchange on the economy, as ‘just a bigoted woman’.

At the reception, Nick Clegg said:

Contempt for ordinary people – Gordon Brown was embroiled in his own ‘Bigotgate’ scandal after an exchange on the economy and immigration with Labour supporter Gillian Duffy.

‘I am a little bit surprised to see cameras outside the gates for the slightly obscure reason that they expect me to use a word about opponents of gay marriage that I had no intention of using, would never use. It is not the kind of word that I would use.’

Really? Mr Clegg’s speech writers would not write in a word which they knew he would never use.  And homosexual rights campaigner Peter Tatchell, among the guests at last night’s reception in central London, said: ‘Quite clearly, some people who oppose same-sex marriage do so because of personal prejudice and intolerance.’

 Lord Carey of Clifton said:

‘There will be many Christians and non-Christians who will be highly offended to be called bigots. People who oppose same-sex marriages are doing so on the basis of deeply-held beliefs and we should not be treated in such a way.

Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said:

‘In a sense, we should be encouraged that Nick Clegg has considered resorting to name-calling, because people normally do that when they realise they have lost the argument.  Marriage is God’s holy institution and man may not change its definition.  Marriage involves love and committment, but at its heart is its sexual expression, being ‘one flesh’ as the Bible puts it.  At the moment, a marriage must be conusmmated to be valid in law, and consummation involves an complete act of ordinary sexual intercourse.

‘Between them, a pair of homosexuals lack the full set of necessary equipment for that act. Mr Clegg has so far failed to offer the necessary redefinition of the key concept of consummation in a homosexual context.  And any such redefinition will affect marriage for everyone.  The Government have received 228,000 responses to their consultation, the majority of them against it, and they are blindly pushing on regardless.

‘Those in favour of ‘gay marriage’ say that if two people love each other they should be allowed to get married.  Does that apply to a brother and a sister, or a uncle and his niece?’  Nick Clegg has failed to address that point as well.  He and David Cameron have lost the argument and lost their own consultation.

‘The fact that they are still stubbornly set on pushing ahead with the destruction of marriage and their proposed use of insulting language shows a contempt for ordinary people as deep as that held by their predecessors.

‘The dictionary definition of bigot is ‘One who is strongly partial to one’s own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.’  Without wishing in any way to insult him, that sounds a fair description of Nick Clegg.’

A No 10 source said: “The prime minister is committed to getting gay marriage through by 2015.”

Reshuffle: ‘Unlikely to offer Real Change’

3

Despite all the hype about the Prime Minister’s reshuffle, it is unlikely to offer any real  change to the anti-Christian policies and social totalitarianism pursued by the present Government, Christian Voice has claimed.

This is the first time the ministerial posts have changed since the Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties formed a coalition government in May 2010. (A list of all the news posts can be seen on Parliament’s website or at the Downing Street website.)

As Equalities Minister, Lynne Featherstone has been belligerent in promoting the pro-homosexual agenda. With Featherstone at the DfID, expect foreign aid to be increasingly used as a lever to pressure poorer countries to pass gay rights measures.

Christian Voice is glad that pro-abortion Andrew Mitchell lost his job at the Department of International Development (DfID). In November 2010 he proposed to “hard-wire” abortion and contraceptive services into overseas development programmes. In December 2010 this came to fruition as he announced plans to spend an extra £2.1 billion on programmes including abortion and contraception, drawing a rebuke from the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children.  Thanks to Andrew Mitchell, the Governments’ abortion policy is now an integral part of their foreign aid packages. Mr Mitchell now takes up a job as Chief Whip, which one hopes will provide less scope for mischief.

The loss of Andrew Mitchell from the DfID is a mixed blessing, however, since the Department will receive Lynne Featherstone, formerly Equalities Minister. In her former post, Lynne Featherstone was belligerent in promoting the pro-homosexual agenda and stomping out common law freedoms. With Featherstone at the DfID, expect foreign aid to be increasingly used as a lever to pressure poorer countries to pass gay rights measures.

Ms. Featherstone will be working under Justine Greening, the new Secretary of State of DFID and formerly Economic Secretary to the Treasury.  Ms Greening is skeptical on homosexual issues and although she has voted pro-abortion as much as Mr Mitchell, we pray that she will not be quite as passionate about spreading the culture of death worldwide.

Theresa May stays at the Home Office and is expected still to support the ‘gay marriage’ agenda, even though her department has lost the Equalities portfolio.

Helen Grant MP, Anne Widdecombe’s successor in Maidstone, is the new Minister for Women and Equalities, replacing Lynne Featherstone, but reporting now to Maria Miller, the new Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.  Maria Miller immediately said she would support ”gay marriage’ and has asked for ‘dialogue’ with pro-sodomy groups.  Her appointment is a set-back.

High flyer. Christian MP the Rt Hon David Jones, pictured here with the Prime Minsiter, Rt Hon David Cameron, has been promoted to Secrtary of State of Wales

The highest-profile fall in the reshuffle has been that of homosexual MP Nick Herbert, who stepped down from his role as minister for the police. Although tipped for promotion, he tweeted: ‘Decided to step down from Govt. Honoured to have worked with police & driven big reforms. Will focus on new ideas & protecting countryside.’

Another bit of good news is that David Jones (Clwyd West) is the new Secretary of State for Wales. He is fairly pro-life, anti-gay rights and anti-blasphemy.

Altogether, it seems unlikely that we should expect any improvement in the anti-family, pro-homosexual policies pursued by the present government, but we can but follow the Biblical injunction to pray for them.

READ: 1Tim 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

PRAY: That the Government will realise they are under the authority of God, that they need to start doing good and stop doing evil.

Bill Gates and the New Malthusians

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first eugenics conference, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation put on a family planning conference this summer.

The conference, which began on 11 July and was co-hosted by the UK Department for International Development, included among its coalition partners such organizations as Planned Parenthood, Marie Stopes International, and the United Nations Populations Fund (UNFPA).

From Hard Eugenics to Soft Eugenics

The original conference that Bill Gates wished to commemorate was titled The First International Eugenics Congress. It was convened in London from 24-29 July, 1912, and was presided over by Leonard Darwin, the son of Charles Darwin. The conference was dedicated to Charles Darwin’s half-cousin Francis Galton (1822–1911). Galton invented the term Eugenics to describe his theory that man could be perfected through strategic breeding. His ideas that certain races are genetically superior to other races had a profound impact on later Nazi theorists.

The 1912 conference included an exhibit by the American Breeders’ Association, whose former president, Harry Laughlin, proposed to eradicate the “inferior” members of society through compulsory sterilization. The conference featured a presentation from Bleeker van Wagenen, who gave a report on the progress of sterilization laws in the United States and advocated compulsory sterilization as a means for improving the human gene pool.

Early 20th century Eugenics theory was often accompanied by the notion that economics can be improved by decreasing the surplus population. Such ideas were based on the theories of Thomas Malthus (1766 –1834) who suggested that the poor were draining the world’s recourses. One of Malthus’s solutions for reducing the surplus population was to introduce policies specifically designed to bring death to large numbers of peasants. For example, he encouraged poor people to move near swamps, because he knew that they would catch diseases there and begin dying off.

The conference that the Gates Foundation put on to commemorate The First International Eugenics Congress included no calls for forced sterilization, but Bill and Malinda Gates did pledge hundreds of millions of dollars to improve access to contraception in the developing world. Following in the footsteps of early 20th century social engineering theory, they echoed Malthus by suggesting that we have an economic responsibility to ensure that there are fewer people. Wendy Wright has rightly called this the “latest effort to blame children for poverty and women’s troubles.”

Bill Gates is quick to repudiate his dependence on Malthus. In an interview with PBS, he told Moyers that “The one issue that really grabbed me as urgent were issues related to population” and he shared how originally he “thought that the Malthusian principles applied at least in the developing countries.” Gates went on to say how he came to understand that “essentially Malthus was wrong” and that alternatives to Malthus’s doomsday scenarios included raising wealth, improving health and educating women.

But we should not be too quick to assume that Bill and Melinda Gates have completely abandoned their earlier Malthusian framework. On the contrary, Mr and Mrs Gates have both frequently drawn attention to the economic ramifications of there being too many people. This was made explicit by Melinda Gates in 2011 when she commented that “Government leaders…are now beginning to understand that providing access to contraceptives is a cost-effective way to foster economic growth…”

So what exactly is the relation between contraception and economic growth? The connection is simple: fewer people = more resources. This may not be the hard eugenics of Malthus, but it certainly involves what Andressen Blom and James Bell have appropriately termed “soft negative eugenics.” In an article for The American Thinker last June, Blom and Bell define soft eugenics as follows:

“for economic reasons governments should use taxpayer dollars to underwrite the decisions of citizens to pursue recreational sexual activity.  The underlying economic assumption is that the prospective children of the poor citizens likely to utilize such government-funded programs would be likely to hamper economic growth if they are born.”

Decreasing the Surplus Population

This is not the first time that Bill and Malinda Gates have ventured into population control. At the Technology, Entertainment and Design 2010 Conference, Bill Gates gave a talk in which he suggested that the solution to global warming is to have fewer people.

This is part of a new groundswell of interest in population control which posits a direct relationship between global warming and the amount of people on the earth. The Microsoft founder reduced our planet’s problem to a simple equation: CO2=P x S x E x C CO2 (total population-emitted CO2 per year) = P (people) x S (services per person) x E (average energy per service) x C (average CO2 emitted per unit of energy).

The goal, Gates said, was to “get this down to zero.” Referring to P(eople) specifically, he said, “Now if we do a really great job on new vaccines, healthcare, reproductive health services, we could lower that by perhaps 10 or 15 percent.”

That’s right. Rather than leading to more life, which was the original purpose of vaccines and healthcare, their great advantage in Gates’ mind is that they can lead to fewer people. While this is obviously true when it comes to contraception, it is hard to understand how vaccination is specifically related to a decrease in the population. (But hold onto that thought.)

The Gates Foundation are certainly doing all they can to decrease what it sees as surplus population. In May of this year, they gave a grant of $100,000 to researchers at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill to develop a new type of ultrasound which has been described as a “non-invasive, reversible form of birth control for men.” Already tested on animals, it would make a man infertile for up to six months. Nine other grants were given to other scientists attempting to create new forms of contraception.

Forced Sterilization

One of the coalition partners in last month’s conference was Planned Parenthood, whose founder Margaret Sanger hoped to “assist the race towards the elimination of the unfit.” Similarly, Marie Stopes International, who also had a prominent presence at the conference, was started by a woman who advocated for “the sterilization of those totally unfit for parenthood [to be] made an immediate possibility, indeed made compulsory.”  (To read more about forced sterilization in the 20th century, see my article ‘Social Engineering and the Dark Side of American Liberalism.’)

But while these organizations previously supported forced sterilization, surely no one in the West still thinks that the poor and ‘feeble minded’ ought to be subjected to compulsory sterilization, right? Well, not so fast. Consider the following facts:

The Hidden Truth About Vaccines and Forced Sterilization

Rather than leading to more life, which was the original purpose of vaccines and healthcare, their great advantage in Gates’ mind (at least according to his remarks at the Technology, Entertainment and Design 2010 Conference) is that they can lead to fewer people. While this is obviously true when it comes to contraception, it is hard to understand how vaccines are specifically related to a decrease in the population.

The connection between vaccines and population control becomes clearer if we consider an event that occurred in the early 1990’s. The World Health Organization, working under the control of the UN, launched a campaign to vaccinate millions of people in Nicaragua, Mexico and the Philippines against tetanus. The project was supported by the Rockefeller Foundation, the World Bank, the UN Development Programme, and the US’s National Institutes of Health.

Tetanus is a potentially lethal infection caused by external wounds or cuts from things like rusty nails. There is nothing unusual in tetanus inoculations, which are routine in the Western World. But there was something that didn’t quite add up about these particular vaccinations.

For one thing, the WHO was choosing to only vaccinate females. For another thing, the girls they chose to vaccinate are primarily those between the ages of 15 and 45 (in Nicaragua the age range was 12-49.)

It wasn’t just disease experts who noticed that something was amiss. After all, it doesn’t take a great deal of intelligence to know that men and boys are more prone to wounds from cuts and rusty nails than ladies. So why was the WHO only choosing to vaccinate girls of child-bearing age?

To make matters more suspicious, the vaccination protocols were calling for multiple injections — three within three months and a total of five altogether. However, tetanus vaccinations provide protection for ten years or more, so why this call for multiple inoculations?

These were the questions that Comite Pro Vida de Mexico, a Roman Catholic lay organization, began asking and why they decided to have some vaccine samples tested.

The tests revealed that the tetanus vaccine contained human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG). hCG is a natural hormone that is secreted during the initial stages of pregnancy. When this hormone is combined with the tetanus toxoid carrier, it tricks the body into thinking that hCG is an invading enemy, with the result that a woman’s body begins producing anti-hCG antibodies, making it impossible for her to ever maintain a pregnancy.

After a number of labs exposed that the vaccine was really a life-time birth control shot, WHO officials tried to keep things quiet and continued administering the anti-fertility injections. It was only after the courts intervened that the WHO was forced to stop administering the vaccine. Unfortunately, by then the damage had already been done and thousands of girls in Nicaragua, Mexico and the Philippines had been rendered permanently infertile. The scandal made it all the way up to the Philippines Supreme Court. To quote from an article on Lifesite news,

LifeSiteNews.com reported that in 1995, the Catholic Women’s League of the Philippines won a court order halting a UNICEF anti-tetanus program because the vaccine had been laced with B-hCG, which when given in a vaccine permanently causes women to be unable to sustain a pregnancy. The Supreme Court of the Philippines found the surreptitious sterilization program had already vaccinated three million women, aged 12 to 45. B-hCG-laced vaccine was also found in at least four other developing countries.

Was the 1990s tetanus scandal simply a medical blunder? Hardly! For 20 years prior to the incident, WHO researchers had been actively involved in creating anti-fertility vaccines utilizing hCG tied to tetanus toxoid as a carrier. This was publically documented in medical journals from the 70s through to the 90s.

What could possibly have motivated the World Health Organization to knowingly, but covertly, sterilize thousands of women in third world countries? While we do not have sufficient information to answer this question for definite, the answer could have something to do with the fact that population control is once again a growing public concern among the world’s elite. Consider that

  • Population control seems to be the pet topic among those men who control much of the world’s wealth. Not only Bill Gates but also Warren Buffett and Ted Turner have all spoken publically in favour of drastically reducing the human species, and supported programs designed to eliminate the excess in babies. For example, in 1996, Ted Turner stated that, “A total population of 250-300 million people, a 95% decline from present levels, would be ideal.”
  • In an interview with the New York Times in 2009, Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg alluded to the fact that abortion is all about getting rid of certain types of people that we do not want around: “Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of.”
  • Echoing comments made by the Optimum Population Trust in 2007, The London School of Economics suggested in 2009 that the best way to combat global warming is to reduce the surplus population through contraception and abortion. Their logic is simple: more people = more polluters.
  • A 2007 report, written by specialist Professor Barry Walters for the Australian medical journal, called for couples with more than two children to be charged a lifelong tax to offset their extra offspring’s carbon dioxide emissions. Parents would be charged $5,000 a head for every child after their second, and an annual tax of up to $800.
  • In a 1981 interview, Thomas Ferguson of the United States Department Office of Population Affairs, commented that “we must reduce population levels. Either governments do it our way, through nice clean methods, or they will get the kinds of mess that we have in El Salvador, or in Iran or in Beirut. Population is a political problem. Once population is out of control, it requires authoritarian government, even fascism, to reduce it…”
  • College professors and leaders frequently cite the Georgia Guidestones to in arguing that that we should “maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.” To achieve that, the human population would have to be thinned by 90%.
  • The Anglo-Dutch financial empire has been and still is committed to reducing the world’s population from the present 6.7 billion, to under 2 billion persons. This has been stated repeatedly in the post-war period by such leading spokesmen as Lord Bertrand Russell, Julian Huxley, and World Wildlife Fund founders Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands and the still-living Prince Philip, who has reiterated many times his desire to see the human population thinned.
  • Robert McNamara of the World Bank has said, “Excessive population growth is the greatest single obstacle to the economic and social advancement of most of the societies in the developing world.”
  • An initiative for the United Nations ECO-92 Earth Charter reads, “The present vast overpopulation, now far beyond the world carrying capacity, cannot be answered by future reductions in the birth rate due to contraception, sterilization and abortion, but must be met in the present by the reduction of numbers presently existing. This must be done by whatever means necessary.”
  • Dr. Henry Kissinger has said “World population needs to be decreased by 50%.”
  • Friends of the Earth founder, David Brower, has stated, “That’s the first thing to do, start controlling the population in affluent white America, where a child born to a white American will use about fifty times the resources of a child born in the black ghetto.” “Childbearing [should be] a punishable crime against society, unless the parents hold a government license…. All potential parents [should be] required to use contraceptive chemicals, the government issuing antidotes to citizens chosen for childbearing.”
  • President Obama’s top science and technology advisor, John P. Holdren, has advocated the possibility of a “planetary regime” that would use a “global police force” to enforce totalitarian measures of population control, including forced abortions, mass sterilization programs conducted via the food and water supply, as well as mandatory bodily implants that would prevent couples from having children.
  • The Secretary of State for International Development, Rt Hon Andrew Mitchell MP, is a hard-line pro-abortionist in his ideal job. The Governments’ abortion policy is now an integral part of their foreign aid packages.

Anti-Christian Co-op grabs bank accounts

Time to leave the Co-op – now!

The Anti-Christian Co-op Bank is taking over a large number of Lloyds TSB bank accounts and all Cheltenham & Gloucester customers, forcing Christian customers to look around for some of the alternatives listed in this article.

The mutual has secured a deal to take over 632 branches.  An estimated 4.8 million Lloyds customers will transfer to the Co-op, along with up to 7,000 staff who currently work in the branches.

Lloyds, part-owned by the government, was forced into the sale to meet European Commission competition rules.  The bank will be left with 1,300 branches.

The branches that will be going over to the Co-op Bank will not be initially be branded as Co-op banks.  Such branches will be called TSB Banks as opposed to Lloyds TSB Banks (and will not have the name Co-op included in the title).  If the logos and branding and name are similar, the less observant could easily give their trade by mistake to the Co-op and not to Lloyds TSB.  The Financial Times reports that the move is not good news for savers.

In April, The Coop supermarket chain decided not to source Israeli goods from the so-called “occupied territories”.   It is committed however to buying from elsewhere in Israel.

But the main concern about the Co-op bank itself is the way it discriminates strongly against those Christians who take their faith seriously.  See: http://www.repentuk.com/coop.html

In 2005, the Co-operative Bank objected to Christian Voice banking with them.  The ‘ethical’ bank, who claim not to discriminate, told Christian Voice to take our banking elsewhere because our Christian beliefs lead us to oppose homosexual rights and homosexual practice.  The Co-op group is strongly pro-homosexual, sponsoring 15 gay pride events this summer, more than any other company.

Despite their ‘fair trade’ policies, they are clearly not the bank for Christians, nor for that matter the bank for anyone who does not support ‘gay rights.’

On Thursday 19th July 2012, Nationwide Building Society was challenged at its AGM in Manchester over a £65,000 donation to last November’s Stonewall homosexual lobby group’s awards, which included ‘Bigot of the Year’, awarded to respected journalist Melanie Phillips.

Those who will be affected by the Lloyds TSB changes will receive letters through the post advising them if their branch is one of those to be transferred.  Customers may then object to the changes and demand that their account is transferred to a Lloyds TSB branch rather than remain with the branch that will automatically become a Co-op owned bank and be called TSB bank.  The branches concerned are listed here, (confusingly, in the main list, in order of address not town):

Christians disillusioned with the High Street banks in general have the option of the Reliance Bank for ordinary banking.  They are owned by the Salvation Army and 75% of their profits go to the Army’s work among the poor and dispossessed.  http://www.reliancebankltd.com/reliancebank.nsf/pghome?openpage

For savings, there is also the Kingdom Bank, owned by the Assemblies of God, Britain’s largest Pentecostal denomination.  http://www.kingdombank.co.uk/  Funds deposited by savers are lent to Christian projects for the advancement of the Gospel.

‘Sorry’ is the hardest word for Nationwide

The Nationwide AGM was held on Thursday 19th July at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester.

A leading building society is finding it impossible to apologise to five people insulted at a dinner it bankrolled last November.

The Nationwide Building Society sponsored the Stonewall homosexual lobby group’s awards dinner on 3rd November 2011.  See the Stonewall report on the event here.

The awards were mainly to applaud people who had advanced the homosexual cause in some way.

Among the awards was an anti-award called ‘Bigot of the Year’ intended to insult and vilify a number of people particularly opposed to the gay rights agenda. Those shortlisted were the respected Sir Brian Souter, Bishop Arthur Roche, Bill Walker MSP, journalist Melanie Phillips, who was the eventual ‘winner’, and Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice.

Stonewall did not even have the courtesy to invite any of those shortlisted for this ‘Bigot of the Year’ award to the dinner.  Perhaps they were afraid someone might answer back – bullies never like it when someone stands up to them.  Or perhaps social intercourse is just not one of their strong points.

Christian Voice members gave out leaflets about Nationwide’s involvement with Stonewall to the society’s members attending the AGM

The Nationwide’s position is that they are ‘not supportive of the vilification of individuals’ and that they ‘have made this clear to Stonewall’. They have pulled out of sponsoring future events of this kind. However, the Society remains as a member of Stonewall’s ‘Diversity Champions’ programme in which they go a lot further than merely treating all of their employees equally, to which no-one could object.  Click ‘Sexual Orientation’ on the Nationwide link here.

Stephen Green is a Nationwide member and went along to the AGM in Manchester on 19th July 2012 to ask the Nationwide Board of Directors the following questions:

(1) How much of your members’ money did you vote to the Stonewall awards dinner?

(2) Did you know the nature of the event you were sponsoring, and were the names of all the awards disclosed to you in advance?

(3) Which Nationwide Board members attended the Stonewall awards dinner?

(4) Whether Nationwide support Stonewall’s aim of the redefinition of marriage?

(5) When will you apologise for bank-rolling an event which insulted and humiliated not just a humble Nationwide member like me, but respected public figures? and

(6) When will you be big enough simply to say sorry to the individuals concerned?

Graham Beale, Nationwide Chief Executive, supplied the answers:

(1) They gave £60,000 to Stonewall for the dinner (which did not stop the greedy lobby group from charging £180 a ticket) and they gave £5,000 as a prize to the ‘Community Group of the Year’ which turned out to be ‘UK Black Pride’.

(2) They didn’t find out the names of the awards until afterwards (which seems rather inept – and they must have known the name of the Community Group award in order to provide the prize).

(3) No Nationwide board members attended (very wise).

(4) Nationwide has no corporate position on the redefinition of marriage (unlike Starbucks and Ben & Jerry’s – but more of them at another time).

(5) No, they won’t apologise.

(6) Ditto.

Nationwide in ‘Bigot’ award challenge

Christian Voice Press Release – 10.40 hrs 14th July 2012

The Nationwide Building Society is to be challenged over its association with the Stonewall ‘Bigot of the Year’ award at its AGM this coming Thursday.

Stephen Green, who was shortlisted for the award last November along with Sir Brian Souter, Bishop Arthur Roche, Bill Walker MSP and the eventual ‘winner’ journalist Melanie Phillips, plans to put down a question at the AGM, to be held in Manchester at 11am at the Bridgewater Hall in Lower Mosley Street, Manchester, M2 3WS.  Doors open at 10am and any Nationwide member with at least £100 in savings or owed on a mortgage can attend.

Mr Green, who is National Director of Christian Voice, the group best known for its successful campaign against Jerry Springer the Opera, is a Nationwide member.  He said today:

Nationwide sponsored the 2011 Stonewall awards dinner, which did not stop the greedy lobby group charging £180 a ticket (£150 plus VAT).  I intend to ask how much money Nationwide gave, whether they knew the nature of the event they were sponsoring, whether they support the redefinition of marriage, one of Stonewall’s key aims, and when they plan to apologise for bank-rolling an event which insulted and humiliated not just a humble Nationwide member like me, but respected public figures.

‘In particular, Sir Brian was awarded a knighthood by Her Majesty in June 2011, just months before he was vilified by Stonewall.

‘Nationwide have said they are “not supportive of the vilification of individuals” and that they “have made this clear to Stonewall”.  They have pulled out of sponsoring future events, while remaining ‘members’ of Stonewall.  No-one on the Nationwide Board of Directors has yet been man enough to apologise to any of the individuals concerned, and I think they should.

‘Of course, not one of those shortlisted was invited by Stonewall to attend, which was a grave discourtesy.  But as “Bigot of the Year” is merely an attempt by Stonewall to bully and humiliate someone in public life, Stonewall won’t ever find the courage to invite those shortlisted for fear that the winner might tell the assembled gays a few home truths.

‘It seems homosexuality can only advance by insulting and browbeating its opponents.  But I hope the Nationwide experience will send a message through the world of business that the Stonewall awards dinner is a toxic brand.’

Tesco-funded Gay Pride ‘shambles’ snakes through London.

The six-colour rainbow ‘diversity’ flag being carried in today’s London ‘Gay Pride’ parade.

A scaled-down version of Gay Pride, without the usual motorised floats, snaked through London earlier today, funded by Tesco and the Mayor of London.  BBC Report here.

Tesco’s announcement in November last year of funding of £30,000 for the event led to a Christmas boycott, followed by disastrous trading figures and a 16% mark-down in their share price.  Everything that could go wrong since has gone wrong for the supermarket giant.

Homosexual employees of Tesco and KPMG took part in the parade, while bankers were represented by Barclays and Lloyds TSB.  The prison service, the police, and the environment agency were among those representing Her Majesty’s Government.  Amnesty International also took part.

The parade passes down Whitehall in central London, near to government offices and 10 Downing Street

The Stonewall lobby group is working overtime trying to present homosexuals as normal people whose love should be recognised by allowing them to ‘marry’, but even in today’s scaled-back event, sex and bizarre forms of sexual expression were to the fore as usual.

The parade featured drag queens, people with their backsides on show, men in what we understand is ‘bondage gear’, sexually-charged costumes, the hostility of Stonewall and Queer Resistance, under-age participants and people whose tee-shirts said: ‘I’ll bet you’re thinking about sex’.

It was an in-your-face offensive onslaught of aggression, intolerance, depravity and division designed to intimidate and assault the mind.

It comes as no surprise that people with such a slender hold on morality should also be incapable of financial stability.

Gay-friendly organisations and individuals failed to come up with money they had promised the organisers. Pride London admitted the funding shortfall which led to the scaling-back of the parade had arisen “not because we have a lack of pledged funds, but because we were unable to collect enough funds from those pledged to provide the strict financial assurances”.

Aggressive and intolerant: ‘Queer Resistance’ activists leave London’s Trafalgar Square in today’s ‘pride’ parade.

It was those financial shortages which led to a panic last month culminating in the Greater London Authority, the Metropolitan Police, Westminster Council, London Fire Brigade and Transport for London asking, for the first time, for “concrete assurances” that Pride London had the cash to pay the upfront costs associated with the event.

Despite £100,000 of public money from the Mayor of London’s office and £30,000 from Tesco and an offer of support from Diageo, the makers of Smirnoff vodka, the event in its original form became ‘unsalvageable’.

As a result, the parade was scaled down to a ‘protest’ march in which floats could not be allowed, the start time was brought forward by two hours and street parties were banned.

Participants in this year’s London ‘Gay Pride’. They and the children who saw them need our prayers.

Mr Peter Tatchell, who took part in the first gay pride protest march in 1972, described the organisation of the event as a ‘shambles’.

The campaigning angle of this year’s parade was on gay marriage in the UK, and on those nations, some 40 Commonwealth countries among them, which still maintain sodomy as a criminal offence in the face of huge financial foreign aid pressure from the likes of Britain and the United States.

Normal people will be shocked and saddened that fellow human beings, made in the image of God, could fall so low – and that certain of our politicians encourage them.  Earlier in the day, our youth worker helped with the giving out of evangelistic leaflets near the start of the parade.  Please pray for souls to be saved from hell through that witness.

Please pray also for the many children who took part in the parade and viewed it from the pavement.  May the Lord heal and protect them and forgive their parents for assaulting young minds with such images as we have seen.

The Church of England’s Foreign Secretary

Dr Charles Reed

Archbishops’ Council Europe Policy explained:

A single Church of England official was behind a pro-EU submission by the Archbishops’ Council to the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Select Committee, Christian Voice has discovered.

Dr Charles Reed, described as the Church of England’s Foreign Policy Advisor, has sent out an email distancing the Archbishops from the comments in the submission.  They did not make the remarks personally, he said.  The submission, says Dr Reed, was prepared by the ‘Europe Bishops’ Panel’.  It was then submitted by the ‘Mission and Public Affairs Council’, which is a sub committee of the Archbishops’ Council, direct to the Select Committee.  In a subsequent email, Dr Reed clarified that neither Archbishop approved the submission, and he is ‘not aware that either (of the) Archbishops saw the submission’ before it went out in their name.

On his blog, modestly entitled ‘ethical comment’, Dr Reed is rather more bullish about the submission.  He says he was encouraged by the opposition it drew in the pages of Eurosceptic publications.  He writes:

‘You can always gauge how sensible ones (sic) comments are on Europe by the furore they create in certain quarters. The more sensible the comments, the more severe the tongue lashing.’

The first of Dr Reed’s sensible comments was the submission’s second paragraph in which he cast the UK as unequivocally ‘without credibility’ and ‘unreliable’ for exercising a veto last December 2011:

‘At the December 2011 European Council, the United Kingdom found itself not only without allies, but without credibility as a negotiating partner as it opposed measures which were intended to achieve broad policy goals which are fully in line with UK national interest. This exposed the domestic constraints on the British government and left its partners with the impression that it was an unreliable partner. An opportunity to show solidarity with partners was missed. The UK must work to rebuild trust with its EU partners.’

The origin of the ‘Europe Bishops’ Panel’ is a debate in the General Synod in July 2004 which endorsed a report by the Mission and Public Affairs Council and the ‘Council for Christian Unity’ entitled ‘The Church of England and Europe’.

The report set out ‘aims for work at all levels of the Church in the Europe of the new century’ among which were:

‘to work locally, nationally and internationally with other churches to ensure the most effective presentation of the Gospel, to join in debate and action for the future of Europe, the harmony and values of its people, and the building of peace and social justice in this continent and beyond’;

There was ‘particular emphasis upon sustainable development and tackling world poverty.’

The two leading lights of the Europe Bishops’ Panel emerged as the Rt Revd Christopher Herbert, Bishop of St Albans,  and the Bishop of Guildford, the Rt Revd Christopher Hill. The latter was also the Chair of the Council for Christian Unity, the CofE’s ecumenical body, at the time of writing. The Panel appointed a secretary to give voice to their views.  That secretary was Dr Charles Reed.  This is what Dr Reed says about European policy on his blog:

‘For the Church the primary purpose of politics – even European politics – is the promotion of human flourishing and the conditions that are necessary to make this happen. On the whole the Church has over the years held that while it has reservations over certain characteristics of European integration – its democratic deficit etc – our propensity as humans created in the image of God to be creative, productive and responsible and generous beings is enhanced by pooling certain elements of national sovereignty in a common European project.’

So far so pan-European.  According to its terms of reference, ‘The Panel is committed both to promoting and shaping an open and transparent Europe close to its citizens and to monitoring the EU institutions in so far as they affect Church life and practice.’

This mandate is interpreted freely.  In 2008 the Europe Bishops’ Panel complained to the European Commission that ‘the EU Budget fails to provide sufficiently for the European common good.’  It went on: ‘Faced by the global challenge of climate change, the EU budget should be refocused in support of low carbon growth both within the EU’s border and beyond.’

Also in 2008, the Europe Bishops’ Panel appointed the first Church of England Representative to the European Union, the Revd Dr Gary Wilton.  The Panel, at the hand of its secretary, Dr Reed, also sent a submission to a European Union Committee on climate change.  Like the submission to the Commons Select Committee, it was sent under the name of the Archbishops’ Council.

Describing the EU Emissions Trading Scheme as ‘the jewel in the crown of the EU’s climate change programme’ the submission argued for more carbon trading and the ‘innovation necessary to achieve a low carbon and sustainable economy’ before going on to discuss which industries and sectors of the economy should be in the scheme and which should not, all from very practical points of view.  Climate sceptics will not be impressed.

The submission is on the website of the Climate Justice Fund, a joint Tear Fund and Church of England enterprise set up in September 2009 following a General Synod resolution passed in 2008. The Fund is setting up projects to help African communities adapt to drought, and campaigning on climate change.  The man in charge of it is Dr Charles Reed, now described on its website as the ‘International Development Secretary for the Archbishops’ Council’.

There may not be any reliance placed on scripture in reports from the Europe Bishops’ Panel, but they refer ‘to the integrity of God’s creation, the vocation of humanity to actively steward and care for creation, and the awareness that climate change is already impacting disproportionately on many of the world’s poorest communities.’

In 2010, this time in the name of the Archbishops’ Council, the House of Bishops’ Europe Panel (which appears to be the same thing as the Europe Bishops’ Panel) sent a submission to the European Commission on ‘EU 2020: a new strategy to make the EU a smarter, greener social market.’  They complained that the EU strategy was too materialistic.  ‘The EU 2020 vision would be made easier if the vision for an economically efficient and innovative market economy is (sic) supplemented more clearly by policies for solidarity that extend across national borders to assist the most disadvantaged’, it said.

Dr Charles Reed describes himself as the Church of England’s Foreign Policy Advisor and as the International Development Secretary for the Archbishops’ Council.  He is referred to in the Church of England’s Seven-Year Plan on Climate Change and the Environment as the Church’s International Policy Advisor, and elsewhere as being from the Church’s Mission and Public Affairs Council, which is a division of the Archbishops’ Council.

Dr Reed is a House of Lords staff member for the Bishop of Wakefield, where he becomes the Archbishops’ Council’s Parliamentary Adviser on Foreign Affairs.  He is the Secretary of the Europe Bishops’ Panel, he writes their submissions, and via them, he establishes the position of the Archbishops’ Council, which the Archbishops themselves do not approve, and may not even see.  Dr Reed also represents the Church of England on the Church and Society Commission of the Conference of European Churches.

Dr Charles Reed is in all but name the Church of England’s Foreign Secretary, but hardly anyone knows of him.  He keeps in the background and lets others take the glory – or the blame – for what he writes.  There will be different opinions on the various positions he brings the church to adopt, but no-one can doubt that Dr Reed wields considerable power and influence in our national church.

Atheist pensioner insults intelligence

'Insulting': John Richards with his poster

The website of Richard Dawkins is full of the story of a pensioner in Lincolnshire who has allegedly been told by police not to display an ‘insulting’ poster rubbishing religion.

The story has also appeared on the website of the National Secular Society.

Atheists have been desparate to find just one case where the police try to use Section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986 against one of their own, in order to counterbalance the multitude of recorded heavy-handed police actions against Christian preachers.

Now they think they have it.  John Richards, of Vauxhall Road, Boston, has been told that if he displays in his window a modest A4 landscape paper with the words ‘Religions are fairy stories for adults’ he could be in breach of the Section’s provisions which state that:

‘a person is guilty of an offence if they display a sign which is threatening or abusive or insulting with the intent to provoke violence or which may cause another person harassment, alarm or distress.’

The Boston Standard makes it clear that Lincolnshire Police have said they will only attend if someone makes a complaint.  In a statement, they said: ‘If a complaint is received by the police in relation to a sign displayed in a person’s window, an officer would attend and make a reasoned judgement about whether an offence had been committed under the Act.’

So yet again, Section 5 is not the great bogey-man some are pretending it is.  The Police and CPS quite often prosecute Christians under it – this author was prosecuted under Section 5 in 2006 – but to our knowledge, with the exception of Harry Hammond in Bournemouth, and his was a special case, not least because he died before an appeal could be heard – not one person has been convicted.

We need to realise the true reason the National Secular Society want Section 5 amended is that the constant stream of stories of police clamp-downs on freedom of speech against Christians is a thorn in their flesh, garnering public sympathy and publicity for the Christian viewpoint.

Unlike Peter Tatchell, who although wrong is at least honest, It is not remotely because they champion freedom of speech for their opponents.

For most people, and certainly most Christians, the truly laughable aspect of this poster is that it is written by a man who, if he is like every atheist this author has met, believes the fairy stories of abiogenesis and evolution.

If he is true to his preconceptions and if he has actually thought about it, by rejecting the reality of a creator God, John Richards believes that nothing exploded and became everything, that life just happened spontaneously, that fish grew legs and lungs for no apparent reason and decided to walk around on the sea-shore, that whales, fed up with life on land, swivelled their spines round, grew flippers, developed blow-holes and resistance to water pressure and flopped back into the sea, that bats were rats who grew wings (overnight or over millions of years and how did they get around with no front legs and emergent non-functioning wings?), and so on and so on into millions of totally farcical scenarios.

The Bible says: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction (Proverbs 1:7).

The truth is that the poster is truly insulting.  It is an insult to the intelligence.  But what do you expect from an atheist?

Social workers condemn mother for EDL views

Toni and Martyn McLeod

SOCIAL workers want to seize a baby as soon as it is born because of a mother’s political views.

Durham County Council has told Toni McLeod she would pose a “risk of significant harm” to the baby by having ‘inappropriate friendships’.

The 35-week-pregnant mother recently married Martyn McLeod, a serving soldier just back from Afghanistan, but social workers have told him that as a full-time soldier he would be unable to care for his child, reports the Sunday Express.

Mrs McLeod, Antonia (Stella) Evans as she then was last year, was convicted of assault causing actual bodily harm, common assault and being the owner of a dog dangerously out of control, as reported in the Northern Echo.

Her three previous children from different fathers are in care.  She was in the English Defence League for a time.  She is now said by Durham County Council to have joined the anti-Muslim North West Infidels (motto: ‘Keep the Faith’) which she denies (see her letter to the Sunday Express below).

Social workers say the child would become radicalised with EDL views and want it put up for adoption immediately.  Documents prepared by social workers and seen by the Sunday Express mention Mrs McLeod’s alleged previous alcohol and drug misuse, her “aggressive behaviour” and alleged “mental health issues”.

The social worker’s report goes on to say: “Toni clearly needs to break away from the inappropriate friendships she has through either the EDL or break-off group in order that she can model and display appropriate positive relationships to the baby as he/she grows and develops.

“Toni has been a prominent member of the EDL. They claim they are a peaceful group, however, they have strong associations with violence and racism.”

According to the Express, Mrs McLeod has posted racist abuse on social networking sites but denies being racist. She claims she is no longer active with the EDL and has never been charged with violence against children.

Her case has been taken up by John Hemming MP, who chairs the Justice For Families campaign group.  Mr Hemming said: “This case is one where the ‘thought police’ have decided to remove her baby at birth because of what she might say to the baby. I wonder what the baby’s father is thinking when he fights for a country which won’t allow him to have a child because of what the child’s mother might say.

The Lib Dem MP is far from being a supporter of the EDL, but contrasts Mrs McLeod’s treatment with that of the extremist Islamic cleric Abu Qatada, who was allowed to remain with his children when he was briefly remanded on bail earlier this year as the Government tries to deport him.

He said: “It raises a curious question as to why Abu Qatada is allowed to radicalise his children but the state won’t take the chance of allowing Toni McLeod to look after her baby in case she says something social workers won’t like.  … Freedom of speech means nothing if people are not allowed to say things that are thought to be wrong.”

Mrs McLeod is now planning to move to the Republic of Ireland, out of the jursidiction of British social services, in order to give birth to her baby in safety.  She will be following a route taken by many other mothers.  Her husband is planning to request a transfer to Northern Ireland so he can be with his child.  He said: “Toni would never harm a child.”

Durham County Council told Mrs McLeod on Friday that her unborn baby was being placed on its child protection register but would not comment to the Express.

Obviously Toni McLeod has not behaved well.  Nevertheless, should Durham Social Services be allowed to use her political views as even part of their portfolio of excuses to take her baby?

If ‘inappropriate friendships’ with people who hold politically incorrect, or even downright unpleasant, views disqualify a mother from looking after her child, how many of us would social workers actually allow to be parents?  Christians, home-schoolers, eco-warriors, anti-Muslim campaigners, pro-marriage activists might all find themselves at odds with the views of social workers.  There is no statutory definition or even government guidance of what constitutes ‘significant harm’.  Social workers can interpret it to suit themselves.

Cases of children being taken into care have shot up recently as social workers become ‘risk averse’.  In the wake of Baby Peter, social workers are deciding it’s more than their job’s worth to leave children out there in the hands of real parents coming across their radar.  And of course although they say they may be ‘damned if they don’t’ take a baby into care and that they are ‘damned if they do’, in reality they are never ‘damned if they do’ (except in the courts of heaven) because no-one can call them to account.

We became involved in two other cases of Social Services baby-snatching recently.  In one case, astonishingly, a young mother was told she could not be trusted to bring up her children because she had herself been in care.  The care system by that logic becomes a self-perpetuating empire.

In another, a father has been told he is a risk to his children because he was sexually abused when he was young.  In neither case has any harm occurred or been alleged to any of the children involved.  It is so easy to allege ‘a risk’ of harm, and the family courts simply accept what social workers allege.

In addition, Toni is now married, and to a serving soldier just returned from Afhganistan.  In Afghanistan he has, according to our political leaders, been fighting to protect our security.  Is it right that the security of his own family life is at risk when he comes home?

Toni McLeod was last recorded living in Mellanby Crescent, Newton Aycliffe, which is mid-way between Darlington and Bishop Auckland.  Her real need is for total deliverance from the things of this world which have ensnared her.  Pray that the Lord will raise up a Christian local to her to minister to her.  We so often talk about ‘getting alongside’ the poor and disadvantaged.  Here is a woman and indeed a family who have everything stacked against them.  They need support, they need true fellowship, they need the Gospel.

Please note that we can write about this story now.  If the McLeod baby is taken into care under a court order, it may well be we cannot write about it any more on pain of contempt of court, under the rules of secrecy which govern the family courts.

Further to the above story, a letter by Toni McLeod was published in the Sunday Express 24th June 2012:

‘I would like to put the record straight about allegations made against me by Durham County Council and repeated in last week’s Sunday Express (“Why try to take baby from EDL mother but not from ‘terrorists’?”).  I have told Children’s Services in Durham they are not true.
‘I am not a racist and I now regret going to the EDL demonstration at which I was arrested in 2010.  I do, however, strongly support the British Troops and will continue to back our boys.  I have character references from Muslim and Sikh friends.  I am not involved with North West Infidels.
‘I have never owned a Pit Bull. It was a German Shepherd I owned.
‘I do not have a mental health problem. I am not and have never been a drug addict. I have not drunk alcohol in 2012. I did get drunk on one day in 2011 when I was told that my children were not returning to me.’
Toni McLeod. Newton Aycliffe, County Durham

Further still, we have now seen the response of Durham CC.  They say:

‘We have been contacted by a number of groups and individuals following national publicity surrounding Toni McLeod.  Durham County Council will not comment on the confidential circumstances of any case, however we would like to reassure you that, contrary to what may be suggested, we would never consider removing a child from their family on the basis of their parents’ political beliefs or occupation.’

The trouble is, the documents seen by the Sunday Express reveal that Durham CC are doing exactly what they say they do not do.

Four weeks later we are still also awaiting a response from Mr David Williams, promised by Cllr Henig, to the following FOI Act questions:

‘Would you kindly advise me what targets, financial incentives and monies, for example those payable for fostering and adoptions are at present in place for cases like this?

‘How much are foster parents paid by Durham and do any foster parents have familial or other links to social services or Durham County Council staff?’

It will erode public confidence in a system which is already under suspicion if children are being snatched to make up numbers, advance careers or profit the local authority or individuals within it.

Free pro-marriage briefing

A few days ago, people calling in to Premier Radio were challenged to say what was wrong with David Cameron’s plans for ‘gay marriage’.  In the main, they knew it was wrong, but they could not articulate why.  You may feel the same, but you don’t have to be tongue-tied any longer.

Our pro-marriage briefing The Trivilisation of Matrimony opposes Cameron’s ‘gay marriage’ plans, firstly from a biblical perspective, and then by unpacking all the other arguments (see contents below).  We are not ashamed of the Cross in Christian Voice, and the words of Jesus Christ on this issue form the cornerstone of our objections. Nudes ride bikes through indecency laws

The only decent photo we can find of the London World Naked Bike Ride

Naturists and CO2 protesters are combining forces this Saturday (9th June) for a naked bike ride through London.

The ride, described as ‘liberating’ by Time Out, will assemble at Hyde Park before a nine-mile route past London landmarks brings it back to starting point.

Organisers expect around 1,000 people to strip off whatever the weather.  It is billed as ‘an annual protest against oil dependency and the culture of cars, as well as a celebration of the human body’.

Similar rides are planned for Cardiff and Exeter on the same day, Brighton and Bristol on Sunday, and Glasgow on 14th July.  (STOP PRESS 05/07/2012: Glasgow Naked Bike Ride was cancelled!  Strathclyde Police said ‘the organisers have cancelled their plans after liasing with Glasgow City Council and Strathclyde Police’.)

The dress code is said to be ‘as bare as you dare’.  Full nudity is apparently optional, although photographs of previous events show that particular option to have been taken up by the majority of the exhibitionists taking part.

Despite the much-vaunted antagonism of most participants to oil and petrochemicals, none of those taking part will be stripping off their trainers, which cannot be made without petro-derivatives.  Comfort apparently takes precedence over principled opposition to oil-industry products.

More seriously, the event will not just expose those parts of the body more politely concealed, but the inability of our current laws to proscribe indecent behaviour.

The English common law offence of ‘indecent exposure’ is declining in use (see statistics link below) in the face of Section 66 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 which applies to England and Wales. Section 70 of the The Sexual Offences (Northern Ireland) Order 2008 is identical. This reads:

66 Exposure E+W+N.I  A person commits an offence if— .
(a) he intentionally exposes his genitals, and .
(b) he intends that someone will see them and be caused alarm or distress. .
(2)A person guilty of an offence under this section is liable— .
(a)on summary conviction, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or a fine not exceeding the statutory maximum or both; .
(b)on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years.]

With the prosecution having to prove an intent to cause alarm or distress, it appears that only men who deliberately expose themselves to women in the street – so-called ‘flashers’ – are now being prosecuted.  Anyone intent on merely flaunting his (or her) nudity in public can drive a coach and horses, or in this case, merely a bicycle, through the legislation.

The common law offence of outraging public decency still remains.  According to ‘Wikipedia‘ (Not always authoritative but they give references including this one on prosecutions):

‘Modern case law has established two elements that must be satisfied for the offence to be committed:
‘1.The act was of such a lewd character as to outrage public decency; this element constituted the nature of the act which had to be proved before the offence could be established, and
‘2.it took place in a public place and must have been capable of being seen by two or more persons who were actually present, even if they had not actually seen it.
‘The offence is currently prosecuted around 400-500 times per year.’

Which brings us back to the common law offence of indecent exposure.  This is still prosecuted (see link on prosecutions above.  Either offence could possibly be brought into play if enough people complain to the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police or to the relevant chief constables of the other forces.

In Scotland the law, not having the liberal Sexual Offences Act 2003 on this matter, is slightly stronger.  Despite that, a similar naked bike ride took place in Glasgow last year and was escorted by the Strathclyde Police.  This year it is scheduled to take place on 14th July and concerned members of the public north of the border will no doubt be speaking to the police.

The website http://www.police-information.co.uk/legislation/legislationindexsco.html#indecent says:

‘Indecent Exposure
‘Source: Common Law
‘Any person who publicly exposes the private parts of their body in a shameless and indecent manner in the presence of the lieges commits a crime at common law.
‘There must be a lewd and indecent intention, mere carelessness is not criminal.
‘Although the definition uses the term “any person”, generally speaking, only males are charged with this crime. A female who exposes the private parts of her body could competently be reported for a breach of the peace, lewd practices or shameless indecency, depending upon the circumstances.
‘Powers: Common law power of arrest. ‘

On top of that is the Scottish catch-all offence of ‘breach of the peace’.  Naturist Stephen Gough, who goes by the name of The Naked Rambler, was convicted and sent to prison in Scotland after being found guilty of breach of the peace.

Much depends on what the police perceive as public attitudes.  If no-one is bothered in today’s climate, they won’t bother either.  On the other hand, if there is significant public concern the police might take action.  With around 500 offences of outraging public decency prosecuted a year in England and Wales, and with prosecutions still being carried out in Scotland for indecency offences, this remains a live issue.

Please pray that enough people will be outraged by these displays of indecency on our streets to complain to the police forces concerned:

Bus Ads Expose Homosexual U-Turn

Brendan O'Neill, editor of Spiked

A blog on the Daily Telegraph has shown how the bus advert storm has highlighted a homosexual activist U-Turn.

Brendan O’Neill, editor of Spiked, says it used to be ‘the gays’ who emphasised their choice of sexuality and said they had a right to whatever orientation and lifestyle they wanted.

Now, he says, organisations like Stonewall have switched their position.  Now it is all: ‘Be nice to poor us; we cannot change who we are; we are stuck like it; get over it!’

He also says that nineteenth-century and early twentieth-century Christians held to the determinist position, but that they have switched around as well.  He is on less sure ground there, although it depends on which theology a certain Christian holds.  The evangelicals, such as the prison psychiatrist of Liverpool nick in the 1950s, Dr F H Brisby, who wrote an article for the BMA cataloguing homosexuals who had changed which was submitted to the Wolfenden Committee, have always maintained that Christ can heal and transform our pathological nature.

(Read O’Neill’s article here: http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/brendanoneill2/100150707/the-bus-advert-storm-confirms-that-christians-are-now-more-progressive-than-gay-rights-activists/)

But as for ‘the gays’, he is bang on target.  When I researched my book ‘The Sexual Dead End’, I found a strong emphasis amongst homosexual writers of the 1970s and 1980s on sexual freedom and the right to choose our ‘orientation’.  Agreed, it was strongest amongst the lesbians, where ‘going gay’ is seen as a logical feminist rejection of what they see as a male-dominated society.

Books like ‘Pink Triangles’ and ‘With downcast gays’ had a theme of sexual freedom, but it was at its strongest in the Gay Liberation Front Manifesto.  In other words it was the radical end of homosexual activism which emphasised freedom of choice, while the political savvies saw that determinism was a better way to achieve their aims.

All the same, Leo Abse, when bringing in the Sexual Offences Bill 1967, which started the whole gay machine rolling, attributed the curse, as he put it, of homosexuality to a lad growing up without a father figure with whom to identify.  The lack of a proper identification as a member of one’s one sex is still seen as one of the routes into homosexuality by conservative psychiatric professionals – and Christians in healing ministries, today.

Homosexual behaviour was looked upon as just a matter of sin until people like Carl Ulrichs and Magnus Hirschfield came along in the l880s and proposed the ‘third sex’ idea.  Sigmund Freud opposed their determinism and rejected a genetic or hormonal predisposition in a move which was catastrophic to homosexual political aspirations.

It was when Simon Le Vay found differences in the brains of homosexual men as against a heterosexual control group that the determinists got really exited, despite LeVay himself admitting:

“It’s important to stress what I didn’t find.  I did not prove that homosexuality is genetic, or find a genetic cause for being gay.  I didn’t show that gay men are born that way, the most common mistake people make in interpreting my work.  Nor did I locate a gay center in the brain (as quoted in Byrd, et al., 2001).”

Hard on Le Vay’s heels came Bailey and Pillard’s ‘gay twins’ in 1992/1993 and Dean Hamer’s ‘gay gene’ in 1993.  Now the determinists and the homosexual politicos were cooking.  Hamer’s results have not been replicated, and he didn’t claim to have found a ‘gay gene’ responsible for all homosexuality either.

The ‘gay gene’ studies are criticised here: http://www.trueorigin.org/gaygene01.asp

So to come right up to the present, the Christians behind the proposed bus ads are emphasising what gay activists were in the 1980s, that a homosexual lifestyle is chosen, learnt behaviour.  Where they differ is in mainataining that such a lifestyle is not a good thing and that the underlying pathologies can be dealt with and a person restored to how God intended him or her to be through the healing power of Jesus Christ.

And it works; men and women have walked away from the homosexual lifestyle and had their orientation changed by Jesus Christ.  Their stories are the ones which cannot be allowed to be heard in today’s politically correct climate, but they will not go away.

And it is because Christian healing is such a political time-bomb that Stonewall have to reject it, with all the determist fervour they can muster.
