When is a vaccine passport not a vaccine passport? When it’s a Covid Certificate, of course.
The Government have a quick-fire consultation out on Covid-status certification, with a closing time of 11:45pm on Monday 29th March 2021. Everyone concerned about religious, social and economic normality, civil liberties and God-given freedoms should pray into this and respond.
Even today (Monday 29th) Wetherspoons chief Tim Martin has robustly denounced it as a non-starter and ‘the final straw’ for the hospitality tradein the Daily Telegraph. You need to respond because just being a stupid idea does not mean it will not take a miracle to stop.

Consultation webpage
On their ‘consultation’ webpage the Government say: ‘The government is reviewing whether COVID-status certification could play a role in reopening our economy, reducing restrictions on social contact and improving safety.’
We say: Just reopen the economy and remove all the restrictions. People have a God-given right to work:
Psalm 104:23 Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.
They go on: ‘COVID-status certification refers to the use of testing or vaccination data to confirm in different settings that individuals have a lower risk of getting sick with or transmitting COVID-19 to others. Such certification would be available both to vaccinated people and to unvaccinated people who have been tested.’
We say: That is an unwarranted intrusion into people’s medical records. Did they do that last winter for flu? In fact, this author, in company with millions of other ‘refuseniks’, has just refused the Covid vaccine. Nor has he ever had a flu jab.

‘Covid-secure mitigations’
They say: ‘The government will assess to what extent certification would be effective in reducing risk, and its potential uses in enabling access to settings or relaxing COVID-secure mitigations.’

We say: There was never any justification for putting millions out of work in any case.
The idea that any of their ‘COVID-secure mitigations’ made the slightest difference to the course of the Covid-19 disease is on a par with King Canute’s courtiers believing he could turn back the incoming tide by royal decree.
They have now vaccinated, or at least offered the vaccine to, all vulnerable groups and if their vaccines are as good as they say, they have no excuse not to open up all hospitality, events, sports and the arts right now. Why are they dragging their feet? Set the people free!

Call for evidence
Finally, they say: ‘We are issuing this call for evidence to inform this review into COVID-status certification, to ensure that the recommendations reflect a broad range of interests and concerns. We welcome views from all respondents.’

Gillian Joseph interviews Culture Secretary Oliver Downden MP
Remember the government have repeatedly pledged not to introduce vaccine passports.
Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden struggled to explain how “Covid-19 certification” for people visiting mass events would differ from “Covid-19 passports.”
RT reports that Mr Dowden told Gillian Joseph of Sky News on Friday his office was ‘working on measures that would allow football games and theatre performances to happen again with as much of an audience as possible’.
However, he spoiled it by saying it needs to be done ‘safely’. The very use of that word instills a false sense of insecurity in people. It’s just more Project Fear.
Mr Dowden reassured Ms Joseph that the certificate “won’t be a vaccine passport” and described it as “a way to facilitate proving” that a person has had a vaccine or a negative Covid test, thus helping “more people get into stadiums.” And into churches?
RT goes on: ‘He wouldn’t offer any details as to how long a certificate would last, or how the system would be policed, simply saying that “those are certainly legitimate questions” and referring to the review. He stressed that having packed venues again “is vital not just for our sense of national well-being, but to the whole national economy”.’
Well of course it is. So just do it.
No Rights in Israel – Bonkers in Brussels
Here is where it will end up: Lockdown Sceptics reports ‘an Israeli court sided with a school over its decision to dismiss a teaching assistant who declined to give proof of vaccination or negative Covid test’. Citing her right to privacy and freedom of conscience availed not. The story is here
Meanwhile, Brussels Times reports on ‘a Belgian Professor’s call for “a new lockdown, a real one, where no one goes to work, including workers or construction workers, and where schools close”. After two to four weeks, restrictions could be “relaxed a bit, if the figures have fallen sufficiently”.’ And king Canute turned the tide with a word.

Well, I have now refused The Vaccine. Last Tuesday my phone rang and I saw the incoming phone call was from my GP.
Sure enough, it was the receptionist asking when I wanted to book in for a Covid vaccination.
In response, I told the dear lady my reasons why I would not be turning up. In order of seriousness:
1 Unethical
The vaccine is produced unethically. The manufacturing process uses cells from aborted babies. Sciencemag reports: ‘At least five of the candidate COVID-19 vaccines use one of two human fetal cell lines: HEK-293, a kidney cell line widely used in research and industry that comes from a fetus aborted in about 1972; and PER.C6, a proprietary cell line owned by Janssen, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, developed from retinal cells from an 18-week-old fetus aborted in 1985. Both cell lines were developed in the lab of molecular biologist Alex van der Eb at Leiden University.’
The website asserts that no woman had her baby aborted for the purpose of making vaccines. But that only makes it worse. Not only are the vaccine companies using foetal cell lines, but they did even ask the mothers’ for their permission.
When I told this to the receptionist she responded, ‘Yes, my mother won’t have it for the same reason.’ She went on, ‘I’m not here to persuade anyone. I’m just booking appointments.’ We’ll come back to persuasion later.
2 Unlicensed
In the UK we have a Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, aka the MHRA. It exists, as the name suggests, to regulate medicines and healthcare products. It evaluates them to ensure they are ‘safe and efficacious’ for public use. It its members are so persuaded, they issue a license for the said medicine or product.
None of the vaccines currently flooding the market has been licensed by the MHRA. The Agency has instead given a ‘temporary authorisation’. On its website, the UK Government say this of one such authorisation::
‘This temporary Authorisation under Regulation 174 permits the supply to and by the Crown of COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca, based on the safety, quality and efficacy data submitted by AstraZeneca (AZ) to MHRA in the period from 24/09/2020 to 29/12/2020 December 2020.’
In a Downing Street briefing on 10th February, Boris Johnson said the vaccines are ‘safe and effective’. That is his opinion, and one that is clearly at odds, at least so far, with that of the MHRA.
3 Untested
Which leads to my third reason for refusing the vaccine. It has not been adequately tested. That does not mean it is dangerous as such. It could be perfectly safe to the overwhelming majority. But we just do not know. The papers AstraZeneca submitted to the MHRA speak of a three month testing period. Those three months of tests were neither conducted on the very old nor the very young.
Vaccine funder Bill Gates said in an interview with BBC’s Nicky Campbell in 2020 that two years is the minimum time for going some way to establish the safety of a vaccine. He said if you test a vaccine for just a year, you find many, but not all adverse effects, that may crop up in a year. Test it for two years, and you can be much more sure if it is safe.
Even then, said Mr Gates, the testing team will never find the adverse reactions which affect perhaps one in a hundred thousand. To protect vaccine manufacturers and persuade them to enter the market, governments indemnify them against claims, which could ruin them.
4 Infertility
I was not in a position to give possible effects on fertility as a reason for refusing a vaccine. However, for a woman of child-bearing age this would be of great concern if she were offered an mRNA vaccine such as that produced by Pfizer and Moderna.
In their latest update, dated 28th January 2021, the UK Department of Health say: ‘Administration of the COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2 in pregnancy should only be considered when the potential benefits outweigh any potential risks for the mother and foetus.’ Of course, nobody has yet evaluated the potential risks to allow a woman to make such a decision.
The same webpage, headlined ‘Information for Health Professionals’, also reports on ‘a combined fertility and developmental toxicity study where female rats were intramuscularly administered with the COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2 prior to mating and during gestation’ and asserts: ‘There were no vaccine-related effects on female fertility, pregnancy, or embryo-foetal or offspring development.‘
The DoH provide no reference or weblink at all for this toxicity study. A Public Assessment Report updated as recently as 11th December 2020 from the MHRA admits: ‘A combined fertility and developmental study (including teratogenicity and postnatal investigations) in rats is ongoing.’ That would appear to contradict the DoH.
Impact on Fertility
According to MHRA, information on the effect of the Pfizer jab on pregnancy and lactation is ‘missing’. They recommend the vaccine is not used in these groups until studies conclude. In addition, possible adverse effects on fertility barely merit a mention, aside from the ‘ongoing’ study with rats.
Professor Mike Yeadon worked for Pfizer as Vice President and CSO of its allergy and respiratory research unit. In a letter to the European Medicines Agency, he and public health specialist Dr. Wolfgang Wodarg suggested the vaccine might block the formation of the placenta. They wrote: ‘It must be absolutely ruled out that a vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 could trigger an immune reaction against syncytin-1, as otherwise infertility of indefinite duration could result in vaccinated women.’
The doctors did not say that the vaccine would definitely cause female infertility. But they raised an important question to which Pfizer responded, ‘We are not commenting on this’. It appears Pfizer acknowledge there may be a problem. And if there is one, we won’t know until, for a lot of young women, it is too late.
I would suggest, if you are a woman of child-bearing age or younger and you are determined to be vaccinated, plump for AstraZeneca or Sputnik V and avoid the mRNA versions such as Pfizer and Moderna.
5 Not that serious
It also happens that for young women without any co-morbidity Covid-19 is not that serious. The younger female demographic is the least likely to fall ill, and barely represented in fatalities at all.
Overall, the Covid disease, if a person falls ill with it at all, has a fatality rate of around 0.2% to 0.3%. Two or three people per thousand might succumb. Even then, better treatment, including Ivermectin, Remdesivir, hydroxychloroquine and monoclonal antibodies are all being used and evaluated. There is also now much more use of oxygen and less of the ventilators which were killing people last March. Covid-19 is about as serious as flu, for which we have never panicked or locked down.
That is not to minimise the loss of those who have died from it, but it is merely to put it all into perspective.
Keeping fit and healthy
Vitamins C and D and Zinc will all help boost the immune-system as will regular exercise. I was able to tell the receptionist I am a fit and healthy 60-plus. Above all, I have a policy of not injecting myself with things I don’t need.
On top of that, my wife and I are confident we had the Covid in January 2020. We felt a bit fluey for a week or two then had a persistent dry cough for around three weeks.
No less a person that Professor Neil Ferguson testified by his nocturnal activities in early May last year that having had Covid confers immunity as good as any vaccine. The BBC reported him as saying: ‘I acted in the belief that I was immune, having tested positive for coronavirus and completely isolated myself for almost two weeks after developing symptoms.’
Also, the papers have just reported on data from the King’s College ZOE app, which has logged details from more than 700,000 vaccinations. It found those with a prior infection were far more likely to report side-effects than people who have not had the virus.
The difference between the two was particularly pronounced among those who had been given the Pfizer jab, increasing our concerns about mRNA vaccines in particular.
Personal Choice
My decision is based on the assumption that whether or not to accept the vaccine jab is entirely my valid personal choice. I am not swayed by emotional propaganda that it is my public ‘duty’ to put myself at risk from a vaccine jab in order, possibly, to protect others. They can have the vaccine if they choose or take appropriate precautions and rely on the Almighty:
Psalm 91:3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. 4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. 5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; 6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. 7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Each of us can make his own decision. And mine is to refuse the Covid vaccine.

The notorious homosexual activist embedded as a teacher in a Birmingham primary school is to lead the city’s gay pride parade on Saturday 25th May, reports GayStarNews.

Andrew Moffat acts as assistant head at Parkfield Coimmunity School in Birmingham’s Alum Rock Road area. There he devised the ‘No Outsiders’ homosexual propaganda programme for use in primary schools. The activist has united local parents and the mainly-Muslim community against him.
In a direct challenge to parents, Gay Pride organisers have dedicated the whole event to supporting ‘No Outsiders.’ In addition they invited the activist himself to lead the parade. HSBC Bank are sponsoring the event. The theme is ‘Love out Loud’ according to an accommodation site dedicated to the ‘pink pound’.
Pages 8-9 of the ‘Pride Guide 2019’ (Click here to view) reveal that the parade will start at Victoria Square at 12 noon. From there it will aim for New Street. At the end it will take a left along the High Street. At Pandora Jewellery the parade will turn right into Carrs Lane. After a right turn into Moor Street it will head south to the ‘gay village’ around Hurst Street.
Christian Witness
The witness will be outside Pandora Jewellery in the High Street B4 7SH from 11am.
A Christian witness will assemble outside Pandora Jewellery from 11am. The aim will be to impact those parading with the truth of the Gospel. The fact that the parade is giving such prominence to both ‘No Outsiders’ and Andrew Moffat shows how important having gay propaganda in schools is to them.
And of course Her Majesty’s Secretary of State for Education is all in favour of it, as we have reported.
Make a date to join the witness on Saturday from 11 am and stand up for righteousness and the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, who alone can forgive and deliver those caught up in the homosexual lifestyle.

Protests against ‘No Outsiders’ have been spreading. The latest Birmingham primary school to see a mass truancy over Andrew Moffat’s monster is Anderton Park Primary in Birmingham.
On Monday 20th May 2019, six hundred children were kept away from classes. Here’s a report from the BBC. It reveals gay activists turning up at the school with rainbow flags to counter-protest. That again shows how important gay propaganda in schools is to them.

For that matter, she is also a Remainer, supporting a second referendum. The Guardian has a video clip of her in the House of Commons saying she is ‘not scared’ of Leave voters. It is a peculiar thing to say, and she is barely articulate, but it leads us to our last point.
Similarities with Brexit
Which is the similarities between the RSE row and the Brexit debate. Those in power think they can simply ignore the people. With Brexit, the people voted to leave the European union. In 2017, the two major parties stood on manifestos which promised to deliver Brexit, Undaunted, politicians from each of them, from Theresa May down, are striving for any form of Remain.
Similarly, parents of faith or goodwill do not want their children indoctrinated with pro-sodomy attitudes. Education Secretary Damian Hinds, Amanda Spielman (head of Ofsted) and teachers unions think it is ‘vital’ they are. They are fully set on using Relationships and Sex Education for LGBT propaganda.
Moreover, in both cases the elite are finding out there is a limit to how far the people can be patronised and ignored. With Brexit, watch out for the Leave vote on Thursday 23rd May 2019. With Relationships and Sex Education, the education establishment are aghast as the protest spread.

Will Israel Folau wear an Australian rugby shirt again?
Australian rugby legend Israel Folau has been sacked by Rugby Australia for posting Christian beliefs on social media. Another Aussie rugby player has also been in trouble for celebrating Christ’s resurrection.
Both New South Wales Waratah’s star Israel Folau and Queensland Red’s Samu Kerevi posted over Easter on Instagram.
Sinners need to repent
It is Israel Folau who has attracted most of the wrath. His post gave a list of sinners drawn from the Apostle’s Paul’s first epistle to the Corinthians with a warning that ‘Hell awaits you’ and an admonition ‘Repent! Only Jesus saves.’
Here’s the offending Bible passage. The apostle uses two different Greek words to describe passive and active sodomites respectively. Moreover he says the Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit liberated those caught up in these sins:
1Cor 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. (KJV)
Meme lists eight sinners
On 4th April 2018, again on Instagram, another user asked him what God’s plan for homosexuals was. Israel Folau replied ‘HELL. Unless they repent of their sins and turn to God.’ He cited his Christian faith when explaining his views in a column for PlayersVoice. Rugby Australia’s CEO, Raelene Castle, said that they accepted Folau’s position, though they did not agree with his views. He would not be sanctioned by the organisation.
Israel Folau posted this ‘meme’ but did not even mention homosexuals in the accompanying copy.
One year later, on 10th April 2019, Mr Folau posted the widely-available image (of a kind known as a ‘meme’) on Instagram. Despite listing seven other sinners along with ‘homosexuals’, the media found gay activists rather than drunks and fornicators to condemn the post.
The next day, Rugby Australia announced their intention to terminate his contract ‘in the absence of compelling mitigating factors’.
Dismissal upheld
According to the BBC, a three-person panel has now found the full-back guilty of a ‘high level breach’ of RA’s player code of conduct. The panel has upheld the dismissal.
Israel Folau has won 62 caps for Australia, playing mainly at full back. He has scored 32 tries in a six-year international career. In the domestic competition, he has scored an astonishing 300 points from 60 tries for Waratahs over the same period. As it happens, he became Super Rugby’s top try scorer just before the current row began.
Izzy Folau is widely regarded as Australia’s current best player. He was seen as crucial to any Australian hopes of a good showing in this autumn’s rugby world cup. And he refuses to back down.
Indeed, New Zealand commentator Bill Ralston wrote: ‘With him gone, the Aussies will inevitably blame any defeat they suffer at the hands of the All Blacks on his absence.’
‘Anachronistic’ attitudes
It takes two New Zealand All Blacks to bring down Israel Folau.
Mr Ralston went on to say Mr Folau’s ‘attitudes reflect what the clergy have been saying for the past couple of thousand years and it is only in more recent, sinful times that they have become anachronistic.’
He asked several of his gay friends how they felt about Folau’s eight Instagram commandments. ‘Most simply rolled their eyes. They know what the God squad think of them already. “Who cares?” seems to be their common response.
‘Well, the Australian Rugby Union obviously cares because it’s firing him for it. Is it an overreaction; an attempt to compensate for rugby’s macho past? The tragedy from a Rugby World Cup perspective is that Folau was the Wallabies’ great hope.
‘I guess what he posted could be seen as hate speech but, seriously, these days, does anyone take offence at being told they are “destined for hell”? As an agnostic idolater, I am not worried or offended. I doubt if the gay community is, either.
‘First, he did not advocate violence, he did not ridicule or abuse in a conventional sense. He simply posted a religious warning that any of those eight groups of folk were going to hell. To be hurt by that, you would have to believe in hell in the first place.’
Of course homosexuals may play
Quite. Moreover never has Israel Folau said homosexuals, nor for that matter drunks, thieves, liars and adulterers, should not play rugby until their day of judgment. If they are up to it, that is.
Gareth Thomas
Disbelief in hell did not stop a host of twitter users taking to the ether. Welsh rugby player Gareth Thomas, who simultaneously retired from international rugby and ‘came out’ in 2009, tweeted: ‘I don’t write this with hate or anger after Israel Folau’s comments. I write with sympathy. To everyone who reads it, don’t be influenced by his words. Be the better person and be YOU. Whoever YOU is.. Hell doesn’t await YOU. Happiness awaits YOU.’
No over-statement there, Gareth.
Moata Tamaira, whoever he or she is, did not ‘mind Israel Folau being a Christian in the privacy of his own home (or church) but could he not flaunt it everywhere? Like, there could be kids, you know?’
Well, yes, Moata, there could be. Responsibility towards the next generation is just one reason us Christians feel obliged to exercise our prophetic duty.
Building a ‘new inclusive society’
One Adam Thomson decided: ‘It has become painfully clear that Israel Folau just doesn’t belong in the game of Rugby Union. His continued spread of religious fanatical bigotry is beyond dangerous to the values of the game, and to the new inclusive society we are working so hard to build.’
Thanks, Adam, for sharing what is really behind the outrage. It’s to do with being seen as politically correct. In 2013, the Australian Rugby Union started an ‘inclusion policy’ to ‘stamp out homophobia throughout rugby in Australia’. There would be ‘anti-homophobia programs for young players, along with high-profile players taking a leading role in public awareness campaigns.’ Christians, of course, are not ‘included’ in the new inclusive society.
The announcement was timed to coincide with the countdown to something called the ‘Bingham Cup’, known as the gay Rugby World Cup, which was held in Sydney in August 2014. Israel Folau supported the Bingham Cup, as it happens.
ARU chief executive Bill Pulver said, ‘Obviously, it’s consistent with other policies we have to eliminate all forms of discrimination and treat everybody with respect and dignity.’
Same-sex ‘marriage’
Mr Pulver even went so far as to endorse same-sex ‘marriage’ in his ARU capacity in a vote in Australia in November 2017.
Israel Folau wrote in his 2018 article: ‘I didn’t agree with Bill Pulver taking a stance on the same-sex marriage vote on behalf of the whole organisation, but I understand the reasons behind why he did.’
I think we all do. It’s that political correctness again. This side of the world, England rugby No8 Billy Vunipola supported Israel Folau with an Instagram post which said: ‘Man was made for woman to pro create that was the goal no?’ He was issued with a formal warning by the Rugby Football Union for this ‘homophobic comment.’ He was also summoned to talks by the RFU.

Meanwhile, fellow rugby star Samu Kerevi has apologised for ‘offending’ fans after declaring ‘I love Jesus’ in an Easter Instagram post.
The Queensland Reds captain shared a Bible verse on his Instagram account. The Fijian-born sports star posted a picture of him from a recent match with the caption: ‘For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.’
The 25-year-old added: ‘Thank You Jesus for dying on the cross for me. I love you Jesus.’
The Daily Mail headlined the story: ‘This is Australia in 2019: Rugby star apologises for “offending fans” after declaring “I love Jesus”.’
The irony was, most fans supported Mr Kerevi. Just a minority questioned ‘whether he would show publicly declare his support for gay Australians.’
No backing down
Even in his ‘apology’, the rugby ace did not back down. Mr Kerevi dedicated it to ‘anyone that I have offended in giving praise to our God on a weekend that we take off to celebrate his sacrifice for you and I’.
A spokesman for Queensland Rugby declined to comment ‘as Kerevi had quoted a text from the Bible celebrating Easter’.

Brexit
We lead on Brexit, where madness has taken hold of our politicians. We went to press last Thursday 2nd May, before the results of the English local council elections were in.
As we know, a week is a long time in politics. Right now, even a few days is a long time. Nevertheless, one prediction we made has already come true.
We said: ‘The Foreign Secretary has said it is an ‘absolute priority’ for the government to leave the EU by 23rd May to avoid having to take part in European elections. But it is not going to happen.’
Just two days ago, as our newsletter was being printed, Mrs May’s deputy David Liddington MP confirmed the Government had run out of time to get any kind of deal through. He said: ‘The UK will have to hold European elections’.
We also predict the Conservatives’ talks with Labour will fail. We say: ‘And make no mistake about the function of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition. It is not there to bail out the Government. It is there to oppose, to call to account, to be elected into government itself. Above all, Jeremy Corbyn does not want his fingerprints on Mrs May’s Withdrawal Agreement, thank you very much.’
Divorce
We report on how the Government has ignored 80% of respondents to its divorce consultation, who wanted the concept of fault to stay. It will go, along with any ability to contest a divorce. But we point out that the ‘substantive issues’ of property and residence of children is already decided on a no-fault’ basis.
We also explain the differences in Scottish divorce law from that in England & Wales and Northern Ireland. Furthermore, we observe that people have a desire for justice. Above all, it’s the divorce itself, not the acrimony, as the Government have been persuaded by the divorce industry, which does the damage to the prospects for children.
Finally, we show how the Government proposals will reduce marriage to a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship. Every marriage will last until one party says, ‘You’re dumped’.
As with the Brexit issue, we give relevant scripture references, prayer points and show how to write to your MP.
Relationships and Sex Education
The Government also ignored respondents to their Relationships and Sex Education consultation. Their new guidelines have now been passed by both houses of Parliament. They come into force in September 2020. We acknowledge the single good point about them: Schools ‘must’ consult parents.
However, the Government determination for schools to promote deviant lifestyles trump rights of parents. These were set out in the House of Lords by Lord Mackay of Clashfern. You will want to read his masterly analysis. You’ll also be encouraged that there are men like Rev Dr William, Lord McCrea, in Parliament, standing up and quoting scripture.
But we are clear that parents now have only the nuclear option of removing their children if schools simply will not listen to them. Moreover, we cannot leave it all to the Muslims. So this author will gladly come to your church to set out the issues from a scriptural perspective and encourage pastors and parents to ‘fight for your sons and daughters.’
Christians under fire
We have articles on how Christians are being sacked for expressing orthodox views both here and the other side of the world. A rugby player and a teaching assistant are dismissed. Meanwhile, the gay lobby have been flexing their muscles over Evan Robert’s chapel in Wales. You’ll want to read about that. On the bright side, you’ll be encouraged by the force for Christ that is the group of Pacific Islands.
Beyond Foreign Aid
The faith of the President of Ghana will also encourage you, as we urge you to pray into Ghana’s godly attempts to break free of foreign aid. God honours those who honour him, and Ghana has refused to allow the UK to decide its policy on homosexuality.
Indeed, David Cameron’s threats to make aid dependent on pro-sodomy policies surely acted as a spur to the Ghanaians to do without it and move ‘beyond aid’. But will the West allow Africans to add to value to raw materials like aluminium and iron ore and cocoa and coffee beans?
Major abortion conference
However, the other side of Africa feminists and pro-abortionists are gearing up for a major conference in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. It’s 25 years after the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) in Cairo in 1994. Now United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) are convening the Nairobi Summit.
In the Newsletter, we commend the UNFPA for its efforts to eradicate female genital mutilation. However, we take serious issue with its ‘women’s empowerment’ agenda. It sounds good, but it’s based on lies and aims to divide women from men. Reality check: most of us live in families! The other emphasis is on ‘reproductive rights’. Yes, that’s code for abortion on demand. Much prayer will be needed, and we give scripture references and action targets here as well.

Matthew Grech preparing to appear on Maltese X-Factor
Matthew Grech preparing to appear on Maltese X-FactorA singer who appeared on the Maltese version of X-Factor has refiuted the idea that ‘Gay Conversion Therapy’ helped him leave the homosexual lifestyle.
A few weeks ago, a screening of his film in a Belfast church led to protests.
Matthew Grech, a singer and vocal coach, appeared on X-Factor in October 2018. The programme was aired by Malta’s national broadcaster TVM.
Mr Grech spoke about how he had been gay but then ‘found God’. But what raised the ire of Maltese gay activists was his reference to a ‘homosexual lifestyle’ and denial of ‘orientation’..
Townsend Street Presbyterian
The film about his life: ‘Once Gay: Matthew And Friends’ was shown at Townsend Street Presbyterian Church. Here is its Facebook page. The Minister is Rev Jack Lamb. This author has found Pastor Jack to be a man of God, gentle, civilised and full of courage and compassion.
The film was produced by a Ballynahinch-based Christian group Core Issues Trust. Last year protesters picketed its film ‘Voices Of The Silenced’ at Ballynahinch Baptist Church. The film gives a voice to a number of people who have left the homosexual lifestyle. All of them bear witness to the power of the Gospel. Core Issues Trust leader Mike Davidson says Matthew Grech ‘left homosexuality as part of his Christian testimony’.
Flowers and sweets
The Belfast Telegraph reported: ‘Around 40 protesters gathered outside Townsend Street Presbyterian Church last night, chanting “L-G-B-T-Q! We are just as good as you”. A similar number of people entered the building to watch the film.’
Outside the church, Mr Grech offered flowers and sweets to the protesters which they refused. He said: ‘We were not expecting such an atmosphere tonight. My heart is very grieved, because we would really like to create a safe environment of just being able to love one another and speak out and share our lives together. But this has been refused.’
Protestors exaggerate
The protest was organised by John Doherty of something called ‘Rainbow Project’. He said the event was ‘sending out a message that it’s not OK to be gay.’
‘That is a message which has cost lives in our community,’ Mr Doherty contended. Warming to his theme, he then ascended heights of hyperbole. ‘It is a message that destroys families and destroys communities,’ he ventured.
Danielle Roberts of HERe NI (?) agreed: ‘So-called gay conversion therapy is damaging to LGBT+ people as it suggests that sexual orientation is something that is a choice, or something to be “cured”.’
We say however someone came to be homosexual, staying that way definitely is a choice. Furthermore, the abiliy to form an emotional and physical relationship with a person of the opposite sex is God’s gift to human beings. Some have not yet found that gift. And we believe they can and will find healing in Jesus Christ if they seek him with their whole heart..
Maltese Government
Back in Malta, even the Government became involved. The local Independent newspaper reported the views of Government whip Byron Camilleri. He said he ‘personally knew youths who had suffered because their families had not accepted them because they were gay.’
The Government even released a statement. This condemned any ‘homophobic’ comment. It said the broadcast of such a clip ‘did great damage’. It ‘put at risk many youths who are vulnerable for gay conversion practices.’
The statement continued by blundering into theology. ‘LGBTIQ persons don’t need any form of healing or forgiveness’, it said. Homosexuality ‘makes up an integral part of their personality.’ ‘Sexual orientation is not a lifestyle’, the statement said. Parents who are finding it difficult to accept their children ‘coming out’ should ‘seek support’. Not from ‘homophobes’, presumably..
Mr Camilleri continued by objecting to somebody trying to ‘sell’ the idea that a person can ‘convert by finding God’. And on ‘the national broadcaster’!
Matthew Grech Testimony
Nevertheless, this is precisiely the testimony of Matthew Grech. According to Newsletter.co.uk, it all began in London. He was in a relationship with a man. But a woman invited him to a prayer gathering. ‘I absolutely loved it,’ says Matthew. ‘These people had something that I wanted – joy, love and peace.’
He became a Christian and started to read the Bible, where he gained the perspective that homosexuality is ‘not about your feelings or sexual orientation … in the Bible it is a practise, it is an act … if I stopped practising homosexuality then I would not be homosexual in God’s eyes.’
He says it was all the power of the word of God. ‘I wasn’t preached to. I didn’t go through some kind of therapy.’ He added: ‘I am on my journey. Personally I have not yet experienced sexual attraction to a woman. But I am open.’
He is aware of criticism that his message could cause distress to some. Despite this, he is standing firm. ‘But there are also others who have unwanted same-sex desires. Many people have contacted me and said, “Wow! I felt so encouraged by your story”.’
Rivers of Love
Matthew Grech is now a member of what has been described as ‘controversial, anti-gay movement’ River of Love. River of Love is a Maltese movement founded by pastor Gordon-John Manché. Pastor Manché has led opposition to gay rights in Malta, including to civil unions in 2014. The papers allege River of Love has also been carrying out what they call ‘gay conversion therapies’. The promotion of such therapy became illegal in Malta in 2016.
Happily, Malta has been unable to outlaw the impact of the Holy Spirit.
As to the wider issue: ‘There can be love between two men and two women, yes – but only friendship love. Everything else is a sin’, Grech said in the clip shown before his audition.
