    Nudes ride bikes through indecency laws

    Naturists and CO2 protesters are combining forces this Saturday (9th June) for a naked bike ride through London. 

    The ride, described as ‘liberating’ by Time Out, will assemble at Hyde Park before a nine-mile route past London landmarks brings it back to starting point.

    Organisers expect around 1,000 people to strip off whatever the weather.  It is billed as ‘an annual protest against oil dependency and the culture of cars, as well as a celebration of the human body’.

    Similar rides are planned for Cardiff and Exeter on the same day, Brighton and Bristol on Sunday, and Glasgow on 14th July.  (STOP PRESS 05/07/2012: Glasgow Naked Bike Ride was cancelled!  Strathclyde Police said ‘the organisers have cancelled their plans after liasing with Glasgow City Council and Strathclyde Police’.)

    The dress code is said to be ‘as bare as you dare’.  Full nudity is apparently optional, although photographs of previous events show that particular option to have been taken up by the majority of the exhibitionists taking part.

    Despite the much-vaunted antagonism of most participants to oil and petrochemicals, none of those taking part will be stripping off their trainers, which cannot be made without petro-derivatives.  Comfort apparently takes precedence over principled opposition to oil-industry products.

    More seriously, the event will not just expose those parts of the body more politely concealed, but the inability of our current laws to proscribe indecent behaviour.

    The English common law offence of ‘indecent exposure’ is declining in use (see statistics link below) in the face of Section 66 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 which applies to England and Wales. Section 70 of the The Sexual Offences (Northern Ireland) Order 2008 is identical. This reads:

    66 Exposure E+W+N.I  A person commits an offence if— .
    (a) he intentionally exposes his genitals, and .
    (b) he intends that someone will see them and be caused alarm or distress. .
    (2)A person guilty of an offence under this section is liable— .
    (a)on summary conviction, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or a fine not exceeding the statutory maximum or both; .
    (b)on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years.]

    With the prosecution having to prove an intent to cause alarm or distress, it appears that only men who deliberately expose themselves to women in the street – so-called ‘flashers’ – are now being prosecuted.  Anyone intent on merely flaunting his (or her) nudity in public can drive a coach and horses, or in this case, merely a bicycle, through the legislation.

    The common law offence of outraging public decency still remains.  According to ‘Wikipedia‘ (Not always authoritative but they give references including this one on prosecutions):

    ‘Modern case law has established two elements that must be satisfied for the offence to be committed:
    ‘1.The act was of such a lewd character as to outrage public decency; this element constituted the nature of the act which had to be proved before the offence could be established, and
    ‘2.it took place in a public place and must have been capable of being seen by two or more persons who were actually present, even if they had not actually seen it.
    ‘The offence is currently prosecuted around 400-500 times per year.’

    Which brings us back to the common law offence of indecent exposure.  This is still prosecuted (see link on prosecutions above.  Either offence could possibly be brought into play if enough people complain to the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police or to the relevant chief constables of the other forces. 

    In Scotland the law, not having the liberal Sexual Offences Act 2003 on this matter, is slightly stronger.  Despite that, a similar naked bike ride took place in Glasgow last year and was escorted by the Strathclyde Police.  This year it is scheduled to take place on 14th July and concerned members of the public north of the border will no doubt be speaking to the police.

    ‘Indecent Exposure
    ‘Source: Common Law
    ‘Any person who publicly exposes the private parts of their body in a shameless and indecent manner in the presence of the lieges commits a crime at common law.
    ‘There must be a lewd and indecent intention, mere carelessness is not criminal.
    ‘Although the definition uses the term “any person”, generally speaking, only males are charged with this crime. A female who exposes the private parts of her body could competently be reported for a breach of the peace, lewd practices or shameless indecency, depending upon the circumstances.
    ‘Powers: Common law power of arrest. ‘

    On top of that is the Scottish catch-all offence of ‘breach of the peace’.  Naturist Stephen Gough, who goes by the name of The Naked Rambler, was convicted and sent to prison in Scotland after being found guilty of breach of the peace. 

    Much depends on what the police perceive as public attitudes.  If no-one is bothered in today’s climate, they won’t bother either.  On the other hand, if there is significant public concern the police might take action.  With around 500 offences of outraging public decency prosecuted a year in England and Wales, and with prosecutions still being carried out in Scotland for indecency offences, this remains a live issue.

    A Christian couple who have had their children taken away by Social Services now face prison on child cruelty charges.

    Joseph and Gloria Musa have rarely seen their children since they were snatched from them by Haringey Social Services two years ago.

    Defend Marriage Petition

     A petition to defend marriage is now up-and-running.

    The text is simple:

    ‘We the undersigned believe that marriage was ordained by God to be the union of one man and one woman and that marriage between two persons of the same sex can not and should not be legalised by any earthly government.’

    The UK Government has signalled its intention to legalise gay marriage so this matter is urgent and signing the petition is one vital way of standing up for Christ.

    Carry on Preaching, say police

     After an initial flurry in which two intellectually-challenged policemen from the Lancashire Constabulary told the owner of a Christian cafe in Blackpool that displaying this Bible texts was a breach of public order laws, the police have now apologised.

    Jamie Murray, the owner of the Salt and Light coffeehouse, uses a set of DVDs that display the words of the New Testament on a screen on the cafe’s back wall.

    Apparently, two officers from Lancashire Constabulary told Mr Murray that a member of the public had complained about ‘homophobic material’ and sid he was in breach of section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986.

    The police, as the Christian Institute pointed out, ‘got the law wrong’. The cafe can carry on displaying the word of God. There is no need, as some are arguing, for a change in the law to remove the word ‘insulting’ from the Public Order Act.  Atheists are certainly in favour of such a change because of the embarrassment they feel in the face of each new episode of anti-Christian police persecution.

    But as Ann Widdecombe has pointed out, in every case the police have had to back down and pay compensation to those falsely arrested or charged.

    With all the pressures from secularists are and the government to legalise gay marriage, the demands of our time in the fields of abortion and sex education, but a continued threat of civil action against Christian hoteliers, surely we have more important things to concern us.

    The police are slow learners, but there will come a time when the lowliest officer on the beat actually knows the law and the judgement of thank you Lord Justice Sedley in the case of Alison Redmond-Bate (1999).

    Malicious Rape Accuser Jailed

    A woman whose ‘vile lies’ nearly drove a man to suicide has been jailed for perverting the course of justice. Louise Johnson accused Andrew Tutty of rape, attempted rape, assault and harrassment after he ended their brief affair.

    She took out injunctions against him and made his life ‘hell’, a court heard. But Wolverhampton Crown Court heard at that precise time Mr Tutty was accused of attempted rape and assault by Johnson, he was filmed on CCTV boarding a train in Gosport , Hampshire, with his son.

    Judge Nicholas Syfret QC told Johnson the two arrests had a ‘huge impact’ on the life of Mr Tutty. He said: ‘He felt suicidal and it affected his work. These allegations were not only embarrassing but they meant he was suspended from doing his job.’

    As he jailed her for 18 months, the judge went on to say there were people who felt ‘there is no smoke without fire’ and, while he was completely innocent, they would believe there was some truth in the allegations.

    ‘There was not a word of truth in what you said,’ Judge Syfret told Johnson.

    ‘A colossal strain was put on police resources while they investigated these complaints and you also undermined the causes of genuine people who had been the subject of serious complaints.’

    He told her only a custodial sentence could be justified because the offence she had committed made it notoriously difficult for women who had been raped to get justice.

    Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said:

    ‘This case illustrates perfectly the opportunity for false and malicious accusations now afforded by our laws on rape, since the need for corroborating evidence was removed by John Major’s administration in 1994.

    ‘Rape is now decided on a his word against hers basis, and since women are viewed as more vulnerable and are in general better at social interaction, the scope for wrongful convictions is massive. Equally, more articulate and plausible men are getting away with rape because police and prosecutors no longer need to spend precious time finding the corroborating evidence which would secure a sound conviction.

    ‘The obvious Christian answer would be for men to avoid situations where they are alone with women, but not all men have that degree of faith, and they live in a society where women dress like prostitutes even on a routine night out. There have been numerous cases of young women having too much to drink, engaging in sexual activity, waking up the next morning feeling they have been taken advantage of and then crying rape. The man concerned probably thought she was leading him on, or just ‘up for it.’ At other times, a woman acts out of spite against the man involved or men in general.

    ‘In this case, Louise Johnson’s barrister said she had suffered abuse as a child, which apparently turned her against men in general, given the ‘string of allegations’, including another accusation of rape, she had made over the course of some 12 years.

    ‘Men are in prison right now for crimes of rape they did not commit, and that is an injustice equally as bad as anything the Guildford 4 or Birmingham 6 suffered. Yet you won’t find any of the politicians or media who are normally to the fore in the field of human rights taking up their cases. This story did not appear in the Guardian or the Independent, for example, only in the Daily Mail.

    ‘You certainly won’t catch any feminists springing to the defence of men wrongly accused, because they think women are untainted by original sin and should always be believed. The ludicrously-named ‘Women Against Rape’ (are there women in favour of rape?) will remain silent, probably regarding all men as potential rapists anyway.

    ‘Even when a man is eventually acquitted, or the case against him is dropped, he has probably already lost his job and his reputation. His friends and his family may stand by him, but they are equally likely to disown him. Neighbours will avoid him, scowl, or worse. He will have been arrested, finger-printed, had a DNA swap taken – which is kept, even if he is found to be innocent – and treated by the police, not as innocent until proven guilty, but as a common criminal.

    ‘In this case, the man accused, Andrew Tutty, was suspended from his job as a care worker. He had to rely on video footage to prove his innocence, which only came about by chance, or by the grace of God if we prefer. He says he ‘went through hell’ for two years, and since hell is a place of punishment, the description is quite apt. He had the undoubted blessing of being supported by his friends and his family, and says that only that kept him going.

    ‘It is about time we at Christian Voice started collecting these cases (please let us know through our website if you have a story to tell) in order to press for a change in the law, to include the need for corroborating evidence once again. Until that happens, injustice will continue to be done, and it won’t always end as well as this has.

    Cannibal Chef Should Face Death Penalty

    The life sentence handed down to Anthony Morley, who killed his homosexual lover, then cooked and ate parts of him, has led to a call for the reintroduction of the death penalty for those cases where verdicts are reached on the basis of overwhelming evidence.

    Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said today:

    ‘Many people might have little regard for Morley’s victim, Damian Oldfield. They would point to the violence endemic in the homosexual network, the desire amongst some homosexuals for ‘rough trade’, and they will say that such a thing was bound to happen. And in truth, this is not the first murder from a homosexual pick-up, and it won’t be the last.

    ‘Yet Damian Oldfield, despite the psychological flaws which drove him to seek casual sexual encounters, was a man made in the image of God. That makes the abuse he wreaked on himself worse, but it does not negate the sanctity of his life. The Bible says ‘a life for a life’ because only the life of the murderer can restore the wrong that has been done when innocent blood is shed.

    ‘Morley openly confessed to his crime, and the evidence of it was overwhelming as well. This was not a run-of-the-mill “beyond reasonable doubt” conviction. In such a case, the need for justice and the requirements of compassion for a victim and his family cry out for Morley to be executed.

    ‘In the Christian understanding, upon which our laws are or should be based, the death penalty was given to mankind for perpetuity under God’s covenant with Noah. That covenant was sealed with the sign of the rainbow (Genesis 9:12-13).

    ‘I don’t like the idea of putting a man to death any more than the worst humanistically-minded liberal. But the other day I saw a glorious rainbow and it reminded me that God’s institution of the nation state and of true justice is still in force. We need to remember that putting a properly-convicted murderer to death is a righteous act, not something to be ashamed of.

    ‘The Bible verse says: “Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed” (Genesis 9:6, AV) and it goes on to explain why: “for in the image of God made He man.”

    ‘In the sixties, with the abolition of the death penalty in 1965 and the Abortion Act 1967, Parliament took the death penalty away from the guilty, by the state, where it belongs, and imposed it upon the innocent, in the family, where it does not. Both measures were against public opinion and in opposition to the laws of God.

    ‘Banning abortion coupled with the reintroduction of the death penalty for murderers convicted on overwhelming evidence would send out a signal of the true worth of innocent human life. It would rebound in a more compassionate society, and that is a blessing we need urgently today.’

    Following the acquittal of Barry George on his retrial for the murder of Jill Dando, a Christian group is calling for murderers only to be convicted on ‘overwhelming evidence’.

    The call follows the reduction of the whole-life sentence on David Beiber, who was convicted of the murder of PC Ian Broadhurst on 26th December 2003 on what the Court of Appeal later described as ‘overwhelming evidence.’

    Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said today:

    ‘Barry George spent 8 years of his life in jail for a crime he did not commit. That is a state-sponsored wickedness. He was convicted on the barest of circumstantial evidence, but the verdict was deemed at the time to be “beyond reasonable doubt”.

    ‘Far from his story providing an argument against capital punishment, it actually speaks volumes against our rejection of divine standards of evidence in favour of the humanistic invention of “beyond reasonable doubt”. George’s imprisonment is obviously less than the ultimate penalty but was still a life-destroying punishment to inflict on an innocent man.

    But the reduction of the whole-life tariff on Beiber was also criticised. Green said:

    ‘Beiber’s conviction was upheld by the Appeal Court who said it was based on overwhelming evidence. In that case, Beiber should have been executed.

    ‘In the Christian understanding, upon which our laws are or should be based, the death penalty was given to mankind for perpetuity under God’s covenant with Noah. That covenant was sealed with the sign of the rainbow (Genesis 9:12-13).

    ‘The Bible verse says: “Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed” (Genesis 9:6, AV) and it goes on to explain why: “for in the image of God made He man.”

    Christian Group in Death Penalty Call

    A Christian group is calling for the restoration of the death penalty for those convicted on what it describes as ‘overwhelming evidence’.

    The call comes as the Government has announced plans to reform the law on homicide. There was also criticism of the defence of being ‘seriously wronged’, which will exclude adultery.

    Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said today:

    ‘In the Christian understanding, upon which our laws are or should be based, the death penalty was given to mankind for perpetuity under God’s covenant with Noah. That covenant was sealed with the sign of the rainbow (Genesis 9:12-13).

    ‘The Bible verse says: “Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed” (Genesis 9:6, AV) and it goes on to explain why: “for in the image of God made He man.”

    ‘When we lock someone up for between 10 or 13 years, which is the average for murder today, we are saying that such a term is all that an innocent human life is worth. That perception permeates through all society. Justice is not done by ‘life imprisonment’.

    ‘In fact we set the value of a human life even lower. In the sixties, with the abolition of the death penalty in 1965 and the Abortion Act 1967, our politicians took away the death penalty from the guilty, by the state, where it belongs, and imposed it upon the innocent, within the family, where it does not.

    ‘The result is a society with no compassion for the victims of crime and their families or for the weaker members of society. We see this today in the callous nature of crimes committed by teenagers on each other and in the increasing brutality of Britain .

    ‘The death penalty should not be available to judges for all convicted murderers, just for those convicted by overwhelming evidence: that is on the testimony of two or three eye-witnesses, or the equivalent in forensics.

    ‘I would argue that lower-grade convictions, those secured on ‘beyond reasonable doubt’ evidence, should not be allowed at all. The imprisonment of innocent people like Angela Cannings, Trupti Patel and the late Sally Clark, who were wrongly convicted of killing their children on no evidence at all, just the opinion of Sir Roy Meadow, or the Guildford Four and Birmingham Six, is a life-destroying punishment in itself.

    ‘It has historically been held that it is preferable for a hundred guilty persons to walk free then for one innocent person to be convicted. If convictions on weaker rules of evidence were to be abolished, and we could be certain that murderers were properly convicted, the mandatory life sentence for murder could be abolished, as Geoffrey Robertson QC has argued, but only to be replaced by the death penalty, to which he is of course opposed.

    ‘But until rules of evidence can be changed, a two-tier penalty based on the soundness of conviction would be a first step reflecting the demands of justice.

    ‘The Governments’ proposed ‘seriously wronged’ defence will not command public confidence, as most people would agree that the commission of adultery is a serious wrong; yet that is to be specifically excluded. However, it would be right to abolish the defence of diminished responsibility – no-one has the right to diminish another’s responsibility. But we do not find ‘medical conditions’ reducing a man’s culpability for murder in the scriptures either. It all just shows how wrong we can get it when man presumes to make laws which should be made by Almighty God.’

    Police Group Links to Spoof Website

    A police advisory body promoting homosexuality and the reporting of ‘homophobic incidents’ placed a hyperlink on its own website to a satirical website sending up the whole idea of diversity and hate crime, Christian Voice has learned.

    The Independent Advisory Group, which liaises with Hertfordshire Police, linked to Christian Voice’s True Vision website.

    Twenty-four hours after they noticed the link was to the wrong site, they changed it – but google still has the cached version.

    Christian Voice designed www.true-vision.org.uk when David Blunkett was Home Secretary, as a foil to the Orwellian-sounding police ‘True Vision’ project. ‘True Vision’ was intended to get more homosexuals reporting instances of ‘homophobia’.  The site has been up so long some of the live web-links don’t work anymore, but its message is still crystal-clear.

    The True-Vision.org.uk site makes it very clear that it is a satirical send-up of the police, with post-Iraq headings like ‘Bible passages can be deployed in 45 seconds’ and police-speak taken to absurdity as in ‘Christianity – together we’ll crack it’. However, it quotes a real police hate crime manual which claimed ‘the infection of homophobia’ was transmitted in families mainly by the elderly and then suggests the elderly are ‘the most subversive people in Britain ‘.

    The site has ‘True Vision Police’ saying they are ‘on the side of the LGBT community – in all its rich diversity’, describing Evangelical Christians as ‘a danger to pluralist Britain’ and the Bible as ‘a manual of hate-speech’ while bishops who feel tempted to talk about sin and the healing power of Jesus Christ are advised to keep ‘their heads down’. Finally, it says: ‘TRUE VISION Police just will not tolerate intolerance. Full stop.’

    In case anyone doesn’t get it, at the bottom of the True-Vision.org.uk home page is a prominent paragraph explaining the reason for the site, alongside a categorical statement from Christian Voice claiming ownership of the site and showing that it is not official (together with a link to the real police site), and links to Christian ministries specialising in healing for the underlying pathologies which lead to homosexual feelings. Other site pages carry Biblical texts about sexuality and repentance.

    Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said today: ‘Firstly, I completely deny the imaginative accusation of the IAG’s Greg Rattey, who is ‘Chair of East Herts Reflective Group’ whatever that is, and homosexual, that we hacked into the site www.hertsiag.co.uk  and put up the link ourselves.

    ‘There are two possibilities in reality. The most likely is that the IAG people are so stupid and incompetent that they failed to read the True-Vision.org.uk site before linking to it. But more worryingly, they may be so illiberal and Christianophobic that they agreed with every absurd over-the-top word. Greg Rattey’s own profile talks of “being able to confront religious extremes face on”. Perhaps he sees religious extremes lurking around every corner but cannot acknowledge how extreme he himself has become. Certainly, no reasonable person could possibly think that True-Vision.org.uk is anything other then a send-up of the hate-crime industry.’

    The other links from the Herts IAG website are predictably politically-correct but well over half of them are to campaigning homosexual bodies: the Gay Police Association, recently denounced as liars by the Advertising Standards Authority over the ‘Bloody Bible’ ad, the Metropolitan Community ‘Church’, ‘Gay Jews’, ‘Gay Muslims’, Lesbian and Gay ‘Christians’ and ‘Out Everywhere.’

    However, one link is to a homosexual club in St Albans known as ‘Fudge’ and there is another link on the ‘events’ page to a ‘LGBT pride’ event on 15th July 2006 at the same venue – although the photos show nobody except a lone IAG person, Chris Auker-Howlett. In one picture, an environment-damaging patio heater stands forlorn on a deserted terrace.

    But Stephen Green concluded: ‘A more recent claim to infamy for ‘Fudge’ was the holding in September last year of a ‘traffic light party,’ where wearing the colour green was an announcement that the wearer was sexually available, combined with a “shag-tag night”. I wonder how many members of the Hertfordshire Independent Advisory Group arrayed in green shirts and ballgowns trolled down to their endorsed venue for that refined evening out.’

    The National Director of a Christian prayer and lobby group was arrested by South Wales Police yesterday afternoon for distributing Gospel tracts at a homosexual event.  An Inspector Alexander Chadd, wearing a fluorescent vest with ‘Minorities Support Unit’ on the back, detained Stephen Green when he refused to stop giving out the leaflets to people entering Bute Park in Cardiff, where the ‘Mardi Gras’ event was being held.

    Mr Green was kept in the cells at Cardiff Police Station for over four hours before being charged with using ‘threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress thereby, contrary to section 5(1) and (6) of the Public Order Act 1986’.  He is due to appear at Cardiff Magistrates Court next Wednesday (6th September) at 9.45am.

    Stephen Green said today:

    “I thank God for the honour of being locked up for sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  All the same, I am astonished that South Wales Police have a special unit dedicated to silencing those who disagree with homosexuality.  Stonewall, the homosexual rights organisation, say the South Wales Police ‘Minorities Support Unit’ ‘works closely with the LGBT communities’.  Maybe they work a bit too closely when an evangelist can be victimised simply because he is giving out leaflets quoting verses from the same Bible police officers swear on in court.

    “Speaking about righteousness, morality, sin, repentance and the forgiveness sinners can find in the cross of Jesus Christ may well offend the fragile sensibilities of homosexuals, but should the police have a partisan unit whose job is to round up Christian dissidents, treat them like thought criminals and trample on freedom of speech?

    “I am constantly hearing stories of Christian preachers being told to shut up by bullying police officers with personal issues or axes to grind.  In most cases they simply comply.  But if we are to safeguard our historic freedoms, someone has to make a stand.  I just pray that God’s strength will be enough for me to see this through, because I know from the words of Christ that in my own strength I can do nothing.”The leaflet itself, ‘Same-Sex Love – Same-Sex Sex; What does the Bible say?’ (Click on the link to view the leaflet) isn’t even that hard-hitting.  Sure, it quotes the Bible to establish that same-sex sex is sin, it says that no-one has to stay gay and asks how the reader will stand in the Day of Judgment.   But it concentrates on the Parable of the Prodigal Son, those words of the Lord Jesus which have given countless people down the ages the assurance of God’s forgiveness if they truly repent.  It ends by quoting the famous verse of John 3:16, ‘For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life’.  That’s good news.

    “The Cross will always be ‘a rock of offense’ to those who disobey God’s eternal word.  We shall just have to see whether the Courts will agree with the gay-friendly police of South Wales that the Christian faith of the United Kingdom, and the Bible which is read in churches up and down the land, and upon which the Queen took her Coronation Oath, is now ‘threatening, abusive or insulting’.

    Death Penalty Call After Dobrowsky and Bellamy Conviction

    A prominent Christian lobby group has called for the return of the death penalty following the convictions of the murderers of Jody Dobrowski and Ben Bellamy.

    Christian Voice, which has led the protests over Jerry Springer the Opera, and has held acts of Christian witness during homosexual events, described both Jody Dobrowski, a homosexual barman, and Ben Bellamy, a Swansea teenager, as ‘made in the image of God.’

    Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said: ‘Our hearts and our prayers are with the families of both these young men, as the British Courts struggle to meet out true justice in the absence of the death penalty.  Both Thomas Pickford and Scott Walker, who killed Dobrowski in an unprovoked attack and Joel Taylor and Joshua Thomas, who beat Bellamy to death, took an innocent life,  Both pairs of murderers were soundly convicted on the evidence of witnesses.  All four should have paid the ultimate price.

    ‘The Bible says “Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed, for in the image of God made he man.”  Those words were given in God’s covenant with Noah for mankind for perpetuity.  The fact that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins shows that God has not altered His requirements for justice.’

    However, the different sentences handed down by the two judges in the two cases were criticised by Christian Voice.  Stephen Green went on: ‘In the case of Jody Dobrowski, his killers were sentenced to a minimum of 28 years, because the judge applied the aggravating factor of their motive being the sexual orientation of their victim.

    ‘That is all to do with aggravation on the grounds of sexual orientation.  The State has declared that beating a homosexual to death is a worse crime that the brutal murder of a heterosexual teenager.  To put it bluntly, Ben Bellamy’s life was not as valuable as that of Jody Dobrowski.  How can such partiality, favouring one victim over another, possibly be justified?

    ‘The truth is, both lives were equally valuable in the eyes of God, and both crimes were equally worthy of the ultimate penalty.  Until the United Kingdom seeks again the kingdom and the righteousness of Almighty God, obscene anomalies like these two different sentences on the same day will keep recurring, and families will be left with the feeling that there is no justice in this land.’

    Child Sex Worker ‘Should be Sacked’

    A call was made today for the sexual health outreach worker, Angela Star, who injected a girl with a hormonal contraceptive in the toilets at McDonalds, to be sacked.

    Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said today:

    “The Melissa Smith scandal in Mansfield was bad enough, when another health outreach worker working for yet another Primary Care Trust arranged an abortion for Melissa behind her mother’s back and then couldn’t even be bothered to go with her.  This admission by Angela Star of her shabby treatment of a vulnerable young girl shows that the child sex industry is out of control.

    “If the girl was at immediate risk of becoming pregnant, as Mrs Star’s employers contend, she should have been advised not to behave so cheaply, and told the only place for sexual activity is within marriage.  But that would have meant no money for the contraceptive industry.

    “By condoning this girl’s illicit sexual activity, Mrs Star is encouraging behaviour which she must know can easily result in sexually-transmitted disease and infertility.  It seems she doesn’t care about that.  Even condoms don’t provide adequate protection against sexually-transmitted infections.  I have a horrible feeling that for every girl who becomes infertile, the better it is for the a Primary Care Trust’s teenage pregnancy statistics.  Apart from that, I find the irresponsibility and lack of basic humanity shown by these people is staggering.  They are not around to pick up the medical, emotional and psychological pieces later.  The whole teenage pregnancy strategy, based on encouraging promiscuity with contraception, has failed and must be abandoned.  Even Government minister Beverley Hughes admits it is not working.  The only sane and righteous policy is that which advocates chastity and fidelity.  The young today are a generation betrayed.”

    Purity Comes to New Orleans

    It was Sunday 4th September 2005.  The dead were still floating in the streets as a rescue operation was evacuating thousands from the flood-ravaged city.  Meanwhile, just a week after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, a couple of dozen homosexuals tottered up Bourbon Street in the French Quarter, the only district of New Orleans still above the water level, under a rainbow banner and a sign asking ‘Life goes on?’

    Without the intervention of Katrina, the weekend would have seen the summit, or nadir, of the annual ‘Southern Decadence’, a six-day festival of fetishism, sadism, promiscuity, indecency, obscenity and all the other tawdry aspects of homosexual life, which was down to run from Wednesday through to Monday.  Even a French Quarter tourism site described it as “sort of like a gayer version of Mardi Gras” (held in February) which is “most famous (or infamous) for the displays of naked flesh which characterize the event,” with “public displays of sexuality . . . pretty much everywhere you look.”  Two days after the Hurricane struck, and one day before the celebration of decadence was due to begin, the levee broke and the Big Easy was flooded, with massive loss of life.

    Gays Party Amid the Dead

    The devastation and suffering wreaked on thousands by Hurricane Katrina was not going to stop New Orleans’ homosexuals partying.  “It’s New Orleans, man. We’re going to celebrate,” Matt Menold, a 23-year musician wearing a sombrero and a guitar slung on his back, told the Associated Press.  An employee of Johnny White’s Sports Bar said: “The French Quarter came out virtually unscathed.  We’re high and dry.”  An account of the small parade on the homosexual news-site 365gay.com noted:

    “It was a scene like something from a Fellini movie. Amid the death, the destruction, and suffering in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina a small parade behind a tattered rainbow flag made its way up Bourbon Street on Sunday.  The marchers said they were celebrating Southern Decadence.  The group – about two dozen people – all said they lived in the largely gay French Quarter.  Defiant, they said they were not about to flee the community despite orders from the city to do so.  One marcher carried a sign proclaiming, ‘Life Goes On?'”  It was carpenter John Lambert who carried the sign, dressed as one of the ‘Village People’, a band with a big homosexual fan-base for their recordings ‘YMCA’ and ‘In the Navy’.  “Hey, we’ve got to keep our morale up too,” said Jill Sandars, aka ‘Jelly Sandwich’.

    Callousness

    “The shocking callousness of New Orleans’ gay activists towards the severe suffering of its fellow citizens cannot be adequately articulated in a news report,” says James Hartline, a former homosexual, who describes the “Southern Decadence” festival as being “replete with tens of thousands of men and women engaged in public nudity, prostitution, illegal drug use and destructive public S & M sex.”

    “The idea that human beings are continuing to party while hundreds of thousands of fellow citizens are starving, dying and suffering from a multitude of sicknesses brings into focus the real lack of judgment that these constant advocates of special gay rights demonstrate in a time of crisis.”  According to Agape Press, Hartline himself has AIDS and is now warning homosexuals about the consequences of their lifestyle.  He was described as a ‘spoilsport’ on a homosexual website.

    Southern Decadence in Exile

    Nearby, in the town of Lafayette, La, a “Southern Decadence in Exile” event went ahead with around a hundred participants on Wednesday 7th September, featuring transvestites and “Floatin’ Floozies,” according to the event’s website.  There are in fact two competing ‘official’ Southern Decadence websites, .net and .com, with the latter connected to AmbushOnline, a website which markets the ‘GLBT side of New Orleans,’ promotes the annual Mardi Gras in February and aims for the dubious honour of putting New Orleans in the ‘Top Ten Gay Destinations Travel List.’

    Another event which has left New Orleans is the ‘National GLBT Business Convention’ which will move to the Wyndham Anatole in Dallas, Texas over 21st October to 1st November.

    New Orleans will need homosexual tourists when the city is reconstructed, says Brian Sands, who has lived in the French Quarter for 17 years.  Sands evacuated the night before Katrina hit, but said: “From what I’ve heard the French Quarter didn’t flood any worse that what we get during a heavy rainstorm,” adding, “I want to wait for things to settle down before I go back.”  When he finally returns, he hopes more homosexuals will join him: “When New Orleans is up and running again, we desperately need you to come back,” he said. “We need you to bring the city back to life.”

    Judgment

    Life was on the mind of Repent America’s Michael Marcavage as well.  “Louisiana had a total of ten abortion clinics with half of them operating in New Orleans,” he said.  “Additionally, New Orleans has always been known as one of the murder capitals of the world, with a rate ten times the national average.”  Marcavage claims that the three past mayors of New Orleans have all welcomed Mardi Gras, Southern Decadence and ‘Girls Gone Wild’ in which drunken women expose their breasts in exchange for plastic jewellery.  Last year, he says, a local pastor sent video footage of sex acts being performed at Southern Decadence in full view of local policemen to the police, the city council and the media.  The council ignored the evidence and continued to welcome the “exciting event.”

    There will be more than a few who will have said in the past “If God does not deal with New Orleans, He will have to apologise to Sodom and Gomorrah.”  The theme of judgment on New Orleans and warning to the USA has not been exclusive to Christians.  Some newspapers suggested that Katrina was the punishment the US received for failing to sign the Kyoto accord, Islamic militants rejoiced that “private” Katrina joined in jihad against the U.S. for – among other things – the Iraq war, and some suggested that the hurricane was God’s punishment on the U.S. for cooperating in the removal of Jews from the Gaza strip.  Beyond these speculations is a more general acknowledgement that New Orleans, the epicentre of the disaster, was a “sin city” whose dedication to violence, drink, sex, drugs and even voodoo harboured few rivals.  In a rare piece of good news, it seems the message may even be getting through to the city council:

    Purification

    The day after the levee broke, the day when Southern Decadence was due to start, Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco called for a state-wide day of prayer. “As we face the devastation wrought by Katrina, as we search for those in need, as we comfort those in pain and as we begin the long task of rebuilding, we turn to God for strength, hope and comfort,” she said.  Meanwhile, New Orleans City Council President Oliver Thomas, after witnessing the horrors first hand and hearing talk of Sodom and Gomorrah, commented, “Maybe God’s going to cleanse us.”

    The theme of cleansing or purification has become a frequently discussed topic as the tragedy in the affected states unfolds.  Most would say a hurricane is an ‘Act of God’.  Hurricanes are named by a system of rotating boy/girl/boy/girl names after the letters of the alphabet.  By one of those co-incidences which only Almighty God can manufacture, the name ‘Katrina’ means ‘purity’.  A version of the name ‘Catherine’, it comes from the same root as a ‘cathartic’ or ‘purifying’ experience.  Purity blew into New Orleans and purity broke the levees and flooded the city.  When a hurricane has been particularly devastating, the name is retired.  There will never be another ‘Katrina’ and that may mean that New Orleans may only have this single opportunity to respond to the awesome purity of God.  God often gives only one warning.

    Defiance Vs. Repentance

    New Orleans sowed the wind possibly to a greater degree than any other city in the world.  It reaped the whirlwind. (Hos 8:7)  “Behold, a whirlwind of the Lord is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind; it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.” (Jer 23:19) Could the experience of Elijah be prophetic to the United States as a whole?  After the wind was an earthquake, and after the earthquake a fire.  God showed His power without speaking in three terrifying natural disasters before the cowering Elijah finally heard a still small voice. (1Kgs 19:11-12)

    How wonderful it would be if the city of New Orleans does not just clean up the filth from the flood but the sludge of the sin which has for too long disfigured the so-called ‘Big Easy.’  The USA is explicitly a nation under God, which trusts in God and asks God to ‘bless America’.  What an expression of trust in God and holy fear of God it would be if the people of New Orleans told the abortionists, the criminals, the pimps and whores, the drug pushers, the voodoo priests and the homosexual tourists, “Your presence has cursed us. We don’t want you back; we don’t want your money.”  And what blessing it would bring on the whole United States if the whole of that land followed such an example.

    “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)  A city is not a candidate for eternal life, but if it turns against God, it can start a whole lot of people on the fast-track to hell.  As American founding father George Mason famously said: “As nations (read states and cities as well) cannot be judged or punished in the next life, so they must be in this.” That was true of Sodom, it was true of the seven nations of Canaan and it has been true of every following civilisation.  The Washington Blade, a homosexual newspaper, headlined its story about the homosexual response to Katrina: “New Orleans defiant in face of disaster.”  Being defiant will not help in the face of the purity of God; the only viable attitude is to be repentant.  May New Orleans repent; may the USA repent; and may the United Kingdom repent, lest we all perish. (Luke 13:5)

    Bedside Bible Ban Still Being Considered

    The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is still considering banning bibles from the bedside, despite sending out emails claiming that “Leicester hospitals are not banning bibles” Christian Voice has learned.

    The e-statement from Laura Skaife of the Leicester NHS Trust, sent as a stock response to people complaining, said the Trust was “appalled at the reports in the national newspapers stating that it is considering banning Bibles from its wards.”  Miss Skaife is being duplicitous: the press never said ‘wards’, they said ‘bedsides’.  The Daily Telegraph wrote: “The century-old tradition of bibles in hospital bedside lockers could be ended,” while the Daily Mail front-page headline was “Hospitals may ban bedside Bibles.”  Not one paper said they would be “banned from the wards”.  The Sun, The Guardian, The Daily Express, the BBC and Sky News all accurately relayed the Press Association’s original story about “banning bedside Bibles.”

    The papers were completely true and accurate.  Taking the bibles out of bedside lockers and sticking them away in a cupboard somewhere else on the ward is precisely what the Leicester NHS Trust is considering.  The Trust should have admitted that and tried to defend it, or backed down and withdrawn the proposal completely.

    Indeed, earlier on, the NHS Trust spokesperson, Anne McGregor, told the BBC they were “considering where to store the books.”  Bibles “might be removed from lockers but they would be available elsewhere”, she said.  That confirms the newspaper stories 100% .

    Ms McGregor denied reports that the move was prompted by concerns the Bible might offend non-Christians.  It is all about MRSA, she says, despite there being not a shred of evidence that MRSA is lurking on bibles in bedside lockers.  If bibles are stored on the wards in a cupboard, so that patients have to ask a nurse to fetch one, the scope for transmission of infection is even greater.  In addition, one might think nurses had other, nursing, things to do.  As the Diocese of Leicester said, someone may need to reach for a Bible in the middle of the night.

    The truth is that the secularists behind this vindictive move are not worried that people might catch MRSA from bibles.  They are worried they might catch Christianity, and with good reason.  The Gideons, who place the bibles, told us they have testimonies from people whose journey to faith started with a curious peek into that bedside Bible.

    So with people of other faiths denying that any of them have asked for bibles to be removed, and Sikh and Muslim leaders actively supporting bedside Bibles, and with experts deriding the MRSA angle (even the most recent independent hygeine report on the Leicester NHS Trust website fails to mention Bibles as a source of possible infection), it is looking more and more as if someone in Chief Executive Dr Peter Reading’s management has a secret anti-Christian agenda.  Only a militant secularist could be so spiteful as to deny the sick and dying – and their relatives – the comfort of the wonderful word of God.

    This is, like all the things God raises us up for, a spiritual battle, and we pray to see God’s victory.  Gideon director Iain Mair is meeting hospital managers on Wednesday afternoon (8th June) to discuss the bedside Bible ban.  Please pray for him and pray the meeting confirms that the Holy Bible may stay in the bedside lockers of the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.

    Prayers for Parliament

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.     “My Lords and Members of the House of Commons,

    “My Government’s central priority is to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, knowing that all else, including economic prosperity and social stability, will be added.

    “To this end, my Government will honour my Coronation Oath, which was to maintain the laws of God and the True Profession of the Gospel.  They will follow the precepts of the Holy Bible, which was given to me to be the rule for my whole life and Government.

    “My Government will legislate in humility, recognising that God makes the law, not fallible human beings.

    “A Bill will be introduced to reform the criminal justice system, away from the principle that crimes are committed against the State, and towards restorative justice on the Biblical model.  No-one will ever again be convicted or imprisoned in my realm on the evidence of one witness or accuser, but only on the evidence of two or three witnesses.  With the knowledge that criminals are soundly convicted, my Government will re-introduce the death penalty as the only way to make restoration in the case of murder, because God made man in His image.  Everyone, both accused and victim, will be treated equally under the law and my Government will repeal all legislation to do with the aggravation of offences.  A related Police Bill will restore the role of the police as custodians of public order rather than as agents of social change.  My Government will no longer use expressions like “war on terror” to soften up the public for identity cards or take away civil liberties granted by Almighty God.

    “My Government will regard each human being, however vulnerable and dependent upon others, as made in the image of God.  For too long our land has been defiled with the blood of innocents shed in abortion clinics.  Tomorrow, my Government will direct that abortion will cease in all NHS hospitals, and a Health Bill will be laid before you swiftly to repeal the Abortion Act and to abolish in-vitro fertilisation.  Human life will be protected in our hospitals, and the withdrawal of food and water will be treated as murder.  My Government will also abolish private contracts in the NHS and will bring cleaning back under the control of hospital managers, who will be held directly responsible for deaths and incapacity through hospital-acquired infections.

    “My Government are committed to restoring and rewarding trust, honesty and faithfulness. Legislation will be introduced to ensure that adultery, desertion or cruelty are restored as the only grounds for divorce, and divorce settlements will depend upon conduct, with joint property and children awarded to the innocent party.  My Government will end the injustice of secret family courts so that justice in family law is done and is seen to be done.

    “At the heart of my Government’s programme is sound public finance.  My Government will not spend more than they can justly raise in taxation.  They will no longer borrow money that must be paid back by our children.  They will not spend taxpayers’ hard-earned money on grandiose schemes, expensive refurbishments, lavish entertaining, management consultants, politically-correct appointees, health education, party-political personnel and propaganda or quangos.  They will bring the functions of quangos back into government and give their various responsibilities back to ministers who will again be answerable for them in Parliament.  My Government will put forward no more public-private finance initiatives and will bring forward such legislation as may be necessary to wind up any outstanding initiatives.  Legislation will be brought before you to ensure lending institutions in the private sector only lend money responsibly.  A Bill will be introduced to abolish the National Lottery and repeal the Gambling Act 2005.

    “Members of the House of Commons,

    “Estimates for the public service will be laid before you, honestly reflecting legitimate areas of state concern.

    “My Lords and Members of the House of Commons,

    “A Bill will be introduced to prohibit anyone who has given money or favours to a political party from receiving a life peerage, and to prohibit donations to political parties by sitting peers.  Existing life peers who have given money to political parties will be replaced in the House of Lords by an equal number of those hereditary peers who were removed in 1999.

    “My Government will set an example in public life by being comprised of trustworthy, honest, upright, able men.  Proven adulterers, cheats, liars, thieves and perverts will find no place in my Government.  My Government will show respect to the people of the United Kingdom and to Parliament and in that way will earn respect.  Members of my Government will behave in a righteous and seemly way.  My Government are sorry they have in recent years set the wrong sort of example and encouraged loutish behaviour everywhere and at every level in my realm.

    “A Bill will be laid before you to restore the position of the father as guardian of his legitimate children, to restore the authority of parents over their children, to require criminal standards of evidence in open court before children are taken into local authority care and for related purposes. My Government are deeply sorry that so many families have been torn apart by social workers on the evidence of prejudiced doctors with axes to grind, and will ensure that all cases where this has happened are impartially and independently reviewed.  And by independently, this time my Government mean independently.

    “My Government will make parents responsible for their children’s education and a Bill to abolish the Department of Education will be laid before you.  Where parents choose to delegate their personal responsibility to educate their children to schools, those schools will be run independently of Government, and legislation will be brought forward to ensure they are run and conduct teaching on Christian principles.

    “My Government deeply regrets that so many young lives have been ruined through abortion or infertility by the teenage pregnancy strategy, and legislation will be introduced to ban the free distribution of contraceptives and school sex education and to encourage chastity and fidelity.

    “My Government will bring forward a Bill to repeal all Acts of Parliament relating to sexual offences passed after 1957 and to repeal the Civil Partnership Act and the Gender Recognition Act of the last Parliament.

    “My Government have to admit that having killed so many children in the womb, we now have a pensions crisis and a skills shortage.  My Government deeply regrets ignoring this problem all these years, and will have to introduce flexible retirement now.  My Government now believes we should treat elderly people as resources of knowledge and wisdom in the work place.  Other measures will be laid before you for pensions provision and to recognise the worth of families and children.  In the longer term, we should get back to replacing our population and allowing early retirement again, but my Government is sorry that for the next twenty or thirty years, it is going to be hard work.

    “Legislation will be introduced to remove the burden of punitive taxation from motorists, and to restore justice to motoring law.  A Bill will be introduced to remove the requirement upon motorists to incriminate themselves or others after passing through speed traps and to abolish the current system whereby adjudicators are paid by the local authority seeking to recover parking fines.  My Government will seek to use the money raised by taxation on motorists solely to fund road-building and subsidise and improve public transport and a Bill will be introduced to restore the railways to public ownership.

    “Since I owe my sovereignty to Almighty God alone, legislation will be brought forward to withdraw the United Kingdom from the European Union.  This will release between 17 and 40 billion a year which my Government will use to reduce national debt and taxation.  We shall regain control over our industry, agriculture and fisheries, which we shall support and develop.  Restrictive legislation originating from the European Union since the United Kingdom joined will be repealed.

    “My Government will strengthen the armed forces, conscious of our God-given duty to protect our subjects and will trust the people of the United Kingdom enough to legislate to allow them to hold arms for their self-defence, and for the defence of the realm.  My Government will not tolerate bullying or humiliating initiation rites in our armed forces or behaviour inconsistent with Christian standards.  Legislation will be brought forward to segregate men and women in operational units and to remove women from ships and front-line duties.

    “The environment is central to our well-being and my Government will encourage good stewardship.  Legislation will be brought before you to ban genetically-modified products and plants in the United Kingdom and to encourage organic production and local preparation and distribution of food.  Further legislation will be introduced to encourage energy efficiency in all premises from domestic to government.  Legislation will also prohibit the sale of playing fields and allotments.  My Government support the sports of shooting and fishing, will repeal the Hunting Act 2004 and will instead legislate to prevent undue suffering to animals hunted.

    “The cultural environment is equally as important, and my Government accept that much of what happens in our theatres and on television is corrupt, ungodly and demeaning, coarsening and degrading public life.  Legislation will be introduced to repeal the Obscene Publications Act and prohibit indecent displays and the use of obscene language and violence on stage, on screen and in literature, art and broadcasting.

    “My Government are aware that they are responsible in the eyes of God to safeguard the necessities of life and that in spite of that they have done nothing to deal with Britain’s energy crisis.  They will build as many nuclear power stations as are necessary, and will remove the subsidies from wind generation.  They will undertake an urgent investigation into re-opening as many coal mines as possible, so that the United Kingdom may once more become self-sufficient in energy.  My Government also believe it is important for men to be in work and for British industry to retake its place in the world.  Legislation will be brought forward to require companies operating in Britain to locate call-centres in the United Kingdom rather than abroad.

    “Measures will be brought forward to invigorate the Christian foundations of the United Kingdom, to restore Sunday as a day of rest, to encourage local authorities to honour Christian festivals such as Christmas and Easter, to celebrate our Christian heritage, to make the promotion of the Christian faith an unassailable charitable object, and to remove charitable status from bodies promoting other faiths and those hostile to the Christian faith.

    “In Northern Ireland, my Government undertake that only those committed to purely democratic means will participate in government, and they will take full control over security without the involvement of foreign governments.

    “My Government will bring our troops home from Iraq as soon as possible, and will not engage in unrighteous and unjust foreign adventures where no British interest or need for self-defence can be proven.  Legislation will be brought before you to restrict the sale of arms by British companies to foreign governments.

    “A Bill will be introduced to reform asylum according to Christian principles, so that Christians genuinely persecuted abroad may find a safe haven in the United Kingdom, whilst excluding those seeking to take advantage of our hospitality for other reasons.  My Government is deeply concerned to defend persecuted Christian minorities around the world, and in Muslim and Hindu countries in particular, and will work to achieving the same levels of tolerance for Christian minorities in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and India as Muslims and Hindus enjoy in the United Kingdom.

    “My Government is committed to fair trade rather than free trade, and will re-establish trading links with Commonwealth countries.  My Government will support the right of the state of Israel to exist in peace and will deal truthfully and straightforwardly with foreign governments.

    “My Government will work for the cancellation of debt and will provide foreign aid from now on to small-scale projects which will genuinely benefit the poor rather than line the pockets of despotic rulers.

    “My Government is committed to ensuring that future payments by the United Kingdom to the United Nations will be conditional on that body promoting righteousness and giving up its promotion of new age religion, birth-control, abortion and feminism world-wide.

    “Other righteous measures will be laid before you.

    “My Lords and Members of the House of Commons,

    “You are about to go about the business of legislating according to the will of God rather than in your own limited wisdom, as you used to do. Therefore,

    “I pray that the blessing of Almighty God may rest upon your counsels.”
