Seven Afghan nationals who entered Britain by small boat and lorry have been charged with rape and child sexual abuse offences. This follows an investigation into alleged group-based child exploitation in Norwich.
According to the Crown Prosecution Service, the offences were allegedly committed between August 2023 and May last year. The seven men face a combined total of 40 charges.
Those charged are Jamil Khalil, 20, Ahmadin Ahmadzai, 21, Qais Kaker, 20, Fazal Auryakhel, 20, Mohammed Farooq Sinwary, 23, Ali Ahamad, 21, and Sayed Wahid Davdzai, 20. The CPS confirmed that all entered the UK either by small boat or lorry and currently hold refugee status.
Police carried out raids at seven addresses, six in Norwich and one in Dumbarton, Scotland. All seven appeared before Norwich Magistrates’ Court and were remanded in custody ahead of a plea hearing at Norwich Crown Court on June 19.

Police Promise “Protection” After Public Shock
Norfolk Constabulary said: “None of the suspects charged with the above offences have lived at asylum hotels in Norfolk, and none of the offending in these offences happened in asylum hotels.”
Detective Superintendent Stacey Murray said the force’s priority remained the “safety and wellbeing” of the victims. She confirmed that a dedicated team was continuing to examine “every available line of inquiry” while supporting those involved in the case.
Supt Craig Miller acknowledged the case would be “shocking to our communities” and said police would do “everything possible to protect children from abuse and exploitation”.
“This type of case is very upsetting, and I want people living and working in Norwich, as well as the wider communities of Norfolk, to know that we will do everything possible to protect children from abuse and exploitation,she added.

Child Migrants” Who Turn Out to Be Adults
Ten migrants initially treated as children and set to be placed into foster care were later discovered to be adults, adding further pressure to Britain’s already overwhelmed asylum system.
The cases emerged amid growing concerns over age assessment failures, particularly involving Channel migrants claiming to be under 18. Under current asylum rules, being classified as a child can significantly improve access to housing, support, and protection from removal.
The situation has left many wondering exactly how Britain reached the point where fully grown men can arrive illegally, claim to be school-age children, and potentially be placed alongside vulnerable children while authorities debate whether visible adulthood is merely a “lived experience”.

Reverse Ageing
Kent County Council took in 2,656 child migrants during 2025 alone as increasing numbers of asylum seekers claimed to be minors upon arrival in Britain.
GB News previously reported that thousands of migrants have allegedly lied about their age because asylum claims are often treated more favourably when applicants are classified as children.
In one extraordinary case, a Sudanese migrant described by Liverpool City Council officials as not presenting “as a teenager” was nevertheless ruled to be a minor by Upper Tribunal Judge Paul Lodato. Officials had assessed the man, identified only as ASB, as being between 23 and 25 years old after two separate evaluations.
Another Syrian migrant with a “deep voice”, “stubble”, “grey hair”, and a “receding hairline” was legally accepted as a 16-year-old despite Derby City Council estimating his age at between 24 and 26. The court was told that “genetics”, exposure to hardship, and “traumatic life experiences” could explain why a supposed teenager looked like he was approaching middle age.

“Women and Children”, Apparently
Last year, Treasury Minister Darren Jones claimed the “majority” of asylum seekers arriving illegally were “children, babies and women”, comments which later triggered widespread criticism.
Jones later clarified his remarks, stating: “Of course, the overall majority of people arriving illegally on small boats are men — but not ‘north of 90 per cent’ as Reform claimed.”
He explained that his original comments referred to a particular dinghy carrying women, children, and babies who had suffered burns during the crossing. According to Jones, his remarks had been “misrepresented”.
The difficulty for ministers is that the public can still see the photographs arriving daily from Dover. When politicians insist the crisis is largely made up of vulnerable families while the overwhelming visual reality consists of young adult males, trust begins to erode very quickly.

The Numbers Tell Their Own Story
Home Office figures show that since January 2018, around 75 per cent of small boat arrivals have been adult males aged 18 and over.
Nearly 1,000 migrants crossed the English Channel during the recent Bank Holiday weekend as warm weather conditions continued across Europe.
Despite repeated controversies surrounding disputed ages and safeguarding concerns, the Home Office insists that “the safety and wellbeing of children in care is paramount” and says “robust processes” are already in place to assess age claims.
Officials also confirmed plans to expand the use of Facial Age Estimation technology in future assessments. Britain has therefore reached the rather astonishing stage where artificial intelligence may soon be required to determine what previous generations managed through eyesight alone.
