Christian Voice held a witness for Domenic Johansson last night at the Wigmore Hall in London, or more accurately, their National Director did. Stephen Green stood alone, giving out over 350 ‘Justice for Domenic’ leaflets to concert-goers at the annual Swedish Christmas Concert explaining how Domenic had been unjustly taken into care by Social Serices on the Swedish island of Gotland.
Domenic was separated from his parents two and a half years ago following his abduction by Social Services while seated in a commercial airliner with his parents awaiting departure on a flight to India.
The family received no warning, nor had they been forbidden from leaving the country. They had also not been accused of breaking any law. Nor had Domenic’s Parents, Christer and Annie Johansson, been accused of being bad parents. It sounds incredible, but the only complaint the Swedish Social Services had against the family at the time was that they wanted to homeschool. The full story is HERE.
At the Wigmore Hall last night (23/12/2011)
Stephen Green said afterwards,
‘I made a point of letting the Wigmore Hall management know what I was doing and they graciously let me stay underneath their canopy, sheltered from the rain. I also thanked them afterwards for their kindness.
‘Virtually everyone going into the concert took a leaflet. Some couples had one between them, and barely one or two were churlish enough to refuse. Those attending were mainly Swedish ex-pats and their friends and spouses. I was impressed by how very courteous the Swedes are. I just pray the authorities in Gotland will show similar courtesy to Domenic and his family and that those attending the concert will have the compassion to make representations to their government to have Domenic released.
Outside the Swedish Embassy 23/12/2011
‘I also pray that the Lord will mark the seriousness of our prayer and send a miracle of deliverance for this 10-year-old boy who so needs his mother and father.’
Earlier in the day, seven Christian Voice supporters witnessed outside the Swedish Embassy in Montague Street from 12 noon until it closed for Christmas at 1pm. Several diplomats took leaflets. The Christian Voice team then spent the next hour and a half leafleting about Tesco’s decision to fund London Gay Pride 2012 outside the Tesco Express stores in Baker Street and Melcombe Street.
On this day 167 years ago, Joseph Smith was born. One of the greatest con-artists of all time, his influence is still felt by the many Brits, and even more Americans, who continue to be duped by his prophetic claims.
Those who are unfamiliar with the Mormon religion Smith started may find it useful to see Jon Swaine’s Telegraph article from last October.
Interestingly, the Mormon faith is growing surprisingly fast in the UK, according to this BBC report. Indeed, the number of Mormons in the UK rose from 6,500 in the 1960s to 190,000 members by 2008.
Because Mormons are taught to proselytize, Christians need to always be ready to discuss the claims of Mormonism with Mormon missionaries and to share the Biblical alternative. It is true that Mormons claim to believe the Bible, in addition to their voluminous and ever-growing corpus of extra Biblical revelations. However, the God they teach is as different to the God of Christianity as night differs from day.
To help Christians understand some of the key differences between Mormonism and Christianity, we have made a chart available for download showing the differences between the Mormon and Biblical teaching on the nature of the Godhead. To download the chart, click on the following link:
Christian Voice is a prophetic ministry in the ‘forthtelling’ sense for those Christians who are fed up with the way things are, have had enough of secularist politicians imposing wickedness on the rest of us and who are not satisfied with trying to get ‘Christian influence in a secular world’ because they know ‘The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof; the world and they that dwell therein’ (Psalm 24:1). If you want instead to lift high the Crown Rights of the King of kings, you have found the right place!

We are passionate about the word of God at Christian Voice. Almost the first thing we published, way back in 1994, was a Bible Reading Plan, called ‘Lamplight’, so our members could seek the Lord in an exciting and accessible way. After all, if you don’t know the word of God, how will you pray with the mind of God?
Using the Lamplight Plan, you read through the Bible in one year, with two chapters of the Old Testament, a Psalm or other Wisdom passage and a chapter or half a chapter of the New Testament every day. You invest around 20 minutes a day and on New Year’s Eve, 2012, you have read the whole Bible and are finding out in Mal 3&4, Psalm 150 and Revelation 22 that, as they say, the good guys win!
There are two ways to get the Lamplight Plan. One is to order it for £1.95 incl P&P on our resources page. The other, which I think is the best way, is to join Christian Voice, and get this faith-building resource free, along with Britain in Sin, which lays bare the anti-Christian legislation of the last fifty years and the appalling social consequences, and our information-packed briefings Understanding Islam and Labelling Halal all by return of post. You won’t want to miss any of those!
We really need the support of faithful believers at such a time as this, and you will benefit by joining Christian Voice in targeting your prayer and action through the vital information we provide.
This is a time of alignment, when the Lord is calling out those who will really stand four-square on his word, tell the truth and seek the Lord’s face for what action to take. We are going to do exploits for the Lord and see His power in answer to our prayers!
Join Christian Voice by clicking here and we’ll send you our latest newsletter and all the other goodies, including your Lamplight Bible Reading Plan by return.
God’s word says:
Malachi 3:16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
Nick Lansley, Head of Research and Development at Tesco.com, videoed himself reading James Kirkup’s blasphemous poem ‘The Love That Dares to Speak its Name’ and posted it on Youtube earlier this year. He has also described Christians opposed to ‘gay marriage’ as ‘evil’.
The poem is a sickening account of a Roman soldier taking a prurient interest in the crucified body of Christ before gratifying himself in His wounds.
Nick Lansley is part of ‘Out at Tesco’, the homosexual contact group of the retail giant. He successfully lobbied for Tesco to give £30,000 to London Gay Pride days after the firm dropped support for Cancer Research. Out at Tesco were honoured by the previous Tesco boss Terry Leahy.
Tesco said: ‘Mr Lansley’s comments and postings, made in a personal capacity, in no way reflect the views of Tesco. Our values as a company are such that we abhor criticism of any religion, and we knew nothing about Mr Lansley’s comments and postings until they were brought to our attention. It is not for us to dictate or limit those private views but we do not tolerate statements that insult others or their beliefs. For that reason, when Mr Lansley was found to have posted material on his blog which insulted the religious beliefs of others, he was reminded of Tesco’s policy and the material was removed forthwith.’
Lansley exploits his Tesco connections in all he does (see the above photo and comments on his blog), forcing Tesco to say to another correspondent: ‘We are very sorry that anyone might have thought that there was any blurring of the boundary between his personal comments and his work for Tesco. We have therefore asked him to remove the comments, and he has done so.’
Lansley also recorded an event in June 2008 when the National Secular Society huddled in a London restaurant to celebrate the repeal of the Blasphemy Laws. During the secretive event Sir Ian McKellen read Kirkup’s blasphemous poem and boasted about ripping pages which speak against sodomy out of the Bible whenever he finds one in a hotel room. (We aren’t linking to the McKellen video recorded by Lansley because we will not republish a blasphemy.)
Lansley’s own video was mysteriously pulled after it was linked with Tesco’s decision to splash £30,000 on the London Gay Pride next year. If the Head of Research and Development at Tesco.com videoed himself or Sir Ian McKellen reading a poem about desecrating the dead body of Mohammed, would Tesco still say that was a ‘private matter’?
Lansley also embarrassed bosses at Tesco by an anti-Christian outburst on his profile page on the photo-sharing website, Flickr.com, where he lists his employment as “Head of R&D at Tesco.com”. He wrote: “I’m also campaigning against evil Christians (that’s not all Christians, just bad ones) who think that gay people should not lead happy lives and get married to their same-sex partners.” Following complaints to Tesco the remarks were removed.
Tesco employees, especially Christians, cannot make a critical remark of the LGBT for fear of being sacked. One of our members recently received this from a Tesco employee:
“Let me open by apologizing for my going through the absurd necessity of using a fake email address – my employer (Tesco) has been known to take action against members of staff who are identified as making any remarks online which could be considered derogatory. (This is advice handed out by our union, USDAW – never, ever mention Tesco on Facebook, Twitter, etc). I simply cannot run the risk that my real name would be associated with the comments I am about to make. (which is not meant to question your personal integrity, it is simply a risk I cannot take).”

Homosexuality continues to impact on public health. Since Highly-Active Anti-Retroviral Treatment (HAART) became available for those with HIV in the UK, ‘gay’ men have thrown responsible behaviour, caution (and their condoms) to the wind and the number of people living with HIV will top 100,000 by the time you read this. Each one costs the Health Service £18,000 per year, according to AVERT. The total cost of HAART treatment is therefore £1,800,000,000 (£1.8 billion) per year and rising.
The death of North Korean dictator, Kim Jong Il, was reported today. The future of the nation remains in doubt, as does the fate of the thousands of Christians who are still imprisoned in North Korea’s horrendous concentration camps.
Will Kim Jong-un, the heir presumptive to the leadership of the nation, relax his father’s policies of intolerance against believers and let the Christians go? Or will the policies of hardline atheism continue to be enforced?
Questions such as these are especially tense this Christmas since North Korea has threatened South Korea if the latter puts up Christmas lights. (Within the atheistic dictatorship of North Korea, any reminder about Jesus’ birth is strictly taboo and they would prefer not to have to see Christmas lights across the border in Seoul.)
South Korea has gone into a state of alert in case the North (with whom they are still officially at war since no peace treaty has ever been signed) chooses to attack.
The CNN video below explains the brief history of the late Kim Jong Il, although strangely they have left out all mention of his horrendous crimes against the Christian community. To address the balance, below the video we have copied the report we ran in March 2009.
Persecution of Christians in North Korea
North Korea is universally recognized as leading the world in the persecution of Christians. While opposed to all religions, Kim Jong-il believes that Christianity was a particularly harmful threat to his power. Under his direction, Christians are routinely, beaten, tortured, arrested for life, mutilated and murdered.
Given the obvious secrecy of Christianity in North Korea, it is difficult to calculate the size of the church. However, it is estimated that less than 2% of the population are Christian. These Christians hold secret meetings in houses and caves.
If a North Korean is caught carrying a Bible, it is impossible to save your life short of divine intervention. Those who get executed are the lucky ones as punishment often also includes the imprisonment of a Christian’s mother, father, sisters, brothers, children and grandchildren.
“There are no preliminary hearings when religious people get caught,” one former agent said. “[We] regard them as anti-revolutionary elements. When such an offender is caught in North Korea, the NSA officers surround the person and kick and beat the person severely before interrogating.”
Communist Police stop at no limit to hunt out and punish Christians, including pretending to be Christians in order to infiltrate their underground prayer meetings. The information they obtain is then used to identify and arrest Christians, who are then either executed or taken to prison camps.
At least a quarter of all North Korean Christians have been incarcerated in prison camps, where inmates face everything from starvation to beatings to Nazi-style gas chambers to experimental torture techniques that defy comprehension. Inhuman experiments are also performed on babies that come to the camps.
Many North Korean Christians have found refuge by fleeing to neighboring China. Between 30,000 and 300,000 North Koreans now reside in China. However, if any of these Christians are caught, they are immediately sent home where they face certain death. Notwithstanding, many North Koreans, including former prison guards who have defected, have successfully remained hidden in China where they have given secret interviews to the Committee For Human Rights in North Korea. From these interviews it has emerged that the following procedures permeate the detention systems:
water torture
motionless-kneeling for periods of up to 6 days (detainees who move while they are supposed to be kneeling motionless are handcuffed from the upper bars of their cells with their feet off the floor)
beating prisoners to death
sleep deprivation
forcing detainees to beat each other
breaking fingers
forcing prisoners to live in permanent situations of deliberately contrived semi-starvation
placing prisoners in a 1.5-meter-square (16.5-feet-square) punishment cell for a week or more, where they are unable to sit up or lie down
forcing prisoners to remain for long periods in the cold
forcing prisoners to sit motionless for six day periods
routine infanticide and forced abortions at prison camps, including stamping on the necks of babies until they die.
In addition to the above, documents smuggled out by defectors reveal routine chemical experimentation on human beings. One document from 2002, stamped “top secret”, reads: “The above person is transferred from … camp number 22 for the purpose of human experimentation of liquid gas for chemical weapons.”
For obvious reasons, missionary activity to North Korea remains highly secretive.
It is with great sadness that we are not able to report any improvement in this horrific situation. In fact, autumn 2009 saw new challenges for Christians as the nation’s dictator, Kim Jong-Il, called for a ‘100-day battle’ to strengthen the economy. What this meant in practice was that everyone became his slave and had to go to work on state farms. Those found on the street without a valid reason were immediately shipped off to a concentration camp. This has meant that Christian fathers have not been able to provide for their families, and in the Hwangae province it is normal to see children lying dead in the streets. Some parents have been working illegally at night to provide for their children before reporting back to the state jobs in the morning.
PRAY: that God bring a miracle of deliverance in this country where Christians are suffering even worst atrocities than those occurring under Islamic regimes and even worse than those which the early Christians faced at the hands of Rome. Ask the Lord to grant them victory over their enemies and courage to boldly affirm Christ in the midst of unimaginable suffering. Pray for the missionaries who have been secretly labouring to bring Bibles and comfort to our brothers in North Korea. Ask the Lord to break the teeth of our North Korean enemies (Ps. 58:6). Pray that they would melt away as waters which run continually; when they bend their bow to shoot their arrows, let them be as cut in pieces (Ps. 58:7). May the righteous in North Korea rejoice by seeing God’s vengeance and may they wash their feet in the blood of the wicked (Ps. 58:10), that all shall say, “Truly there is a reward for the righteous: truly he is a God that judges the earth.” (Ps. 58:11).
WRITE: to your MP and ask him to ask the Foreign Secretary what he is doing to help Christians in North Korea.
Many Christians are only now awakening to the seriousness of the threat to our society posed by the homosexual movement. But, unfortunately for us all, it is only the sounding of the victory trumpets by “gay” activists that has stirred Christians from their slumber. The watchman’s walls have been broken and breached, the village is in flames, and triumphal “gay” culture warriors are leading a long string of young prisoners by their necks into the woods. Most disturbingly, many of the captives, including some of the children of these still sleepy-eyed Christian parents, seem happy to go.
I have long warned that the homosexuals agenda is not about tolerance but control. It started, of course, with a plea for tolerance, but then immediately shifted to a demand for acceptance and in due time to celebration of all things “gay.”
It wasn’t enough, however, for prominent public officials in every major city to lead the “Gay Pride” parades. No, the agenda continued to unfold to another level, requiring forced participation in “gay” culture. Much of the country is on that cusp of celebration/coercion today, led by California with it’s new aggressive K-12 homosexual advocacy curriculum, mandated by law.
Even conservative Texas is not immune. Just this week Fox News covered the story of a ninth grader suspended from school for telling a classmate he believes homosexuality is wrong. The outraged teacher who demanded punishment for the boy reportedly keeps a picture on the classroom wall of two men kissing and frequently steers classroom discussions to the homosexual issue.
It took the intervention of a Christian public-interest law firm to get the school to rescind the suspension. But how many students of this same teacher have over the years simply assimilated his values as normal, their parents none the wiser?
Were the Nazis anti-homosexual? Far from it! Find out the truth in Scott Lively’s jaw-dropping book “The Pink Swastika”
More importantly, how many other classrooms across America are headed by such men and women? Their activist network, the Gay Lesbian Straight Teachers Network (GLSTN – later changed to “education network” GLSEN to hide the teacher/activist association) was powerful enough to launch its founder Kevin Jennings to the position of Obama White House “safe schools” czar for a time. I’d guess their agenda is an influence in just about every classroom by now.
I’m old enough to remember the debate about whether homosexuals should be allowed to be teachers at all, let alone allowed to punish students for disagreeing with the class-time advocacy of their sexual lifestyle. I remember the protestations from the pro-homosexual side, that “gays and lesbians just want the right to be left alone. They would NEVER interject their private lives into the classroom.” They all lied, and we believed them, and now our children and grandchildren are being forced to celebrate “gay” culture under penalty of law.
That is the end game for the “gays.” The final stage of their agenda, which has always been about taking control of things, is the power to punish dissent: to silence or crush their detractors. They only have this level of control in a few places yet, but they are moving fast to achieve it everywhere, and the momentum is on their side. And wherever they have it, they use it.
This brings me, in conclusion, to the subject of “gay marriage.” Huh? How does “gay marriage” in any way relate to homosexual propaganda in schools? Or to Christian parents awakening late to the indoctrination of their children?
It is the same issue, my friends. “Gay marriage,” “gay” curriculum, “gay” parades, “gay” TV shows, “gay” soldiers, “gay” adoption, “gay” diseases, “gay” recruitment and on and on. So many seemingly separate issues that are really just one issue: the unnatural, dysfunctional, personally and socially destructive phenomenon of homosexual sin. We are warned clearly and emphatically about it in the Bible. We have seen its corrupting effect in history. And we are literally watching its ethic of sexual anarchy supplant the biblical model of family as the guiding value system of our society.
I’m not going to add here how much I really love homosexuals and just hate their sin. As a question of public policy it really shouldn’t matter what I think about the perpetrators, just whether I am telling the truth about their agenda. I don’t want to reinforce the ridiculous assumption that Christians need to offer a disclaimer to prove they aren’t haters. It wouldn’t mitigate their hostility toward me for saying it anyhow. Trust me.
I’m not saying here that Christians are without hope of overcoming the challenge before us. Nothing, after all, is impossible with God. What I am saying is that we cannot possibly win, especially at this late stage of the game, if our “heroes” continue to fiddle about with the “definition of marriage” and fall all over themselves trying to prove they’re not haters by endorsing other, non-marriage-related bits of the “gay” agenda.
We need to stand firmly and unapologetically on the hard truth that homosexuality is not a benign, morally neutral social phenomenon. It is an insidious and contagious form of sexual perversion condemned by God as an abomination. I cringe even writing these words because I know the wrath I am inviting on myself. Still, someone needs to say this boldly and publicly because it is the truth, and only the truth can set us free of the political correctness that has imprisoned us until now.
The homosexual agenda represents an existential threat to Christian civilization and we’re in the final phase of the war, losing badly. It all hinges upon you, Christian reader. Either get into the “game” in earnest, immediately, or wave goodbye to everything good and holy in public life.
The Daily Mail has run a story about the BBC employing more atheists and non-believers than Christians after submitting a Freedom of Information request.
An internal BBC survey indeed found that just 22.5 per cent of all staff professed to be Christians, but 43% of staff did not respond to the survey. The Daily Mail said the Christians were outnumbered by atheists and those of no faith, at 23.5 per cent, but that figure was arrived at by adding the professing atheists (8.9%) to those of no faith (14.6%). Buddhists, Hindus, Jews, Muslims and Sikhs totalled 3.2% while ‘others’ were 2.6%, and 5.2% preferred not to say.
The Daily Mail’s Jonathan Petrie said ‘the new research has been seized on by critics who accuse the Corporation of bias against Christianity and marginalising the faith in its output’. He quoted BBC veteran Roger Bolton, who until recently presented BBC Radio 4’s religious current affairs programme, ‘Sunday’, as saying: ‘There is an inbuilt but unconscious bias against religion, fuelled by the fact staff are not representative of the public. It is not a conspiracy but it needs a correction.’
Amanda Rice, BBC Head of Diversity, protested that the figures had been ‘wilfully misunderstood by the paper’ and that ‘Of those who were asked about their religion, Christianity was by far the largest category, with 4,619 people.’
To put it all into context, the BBC employs 20,536 staff and they have so far researched 57% of them. Sheryl Holland in the BBC’s Press Office told us: “Nearly 60% of BBC staff have been asked about their religion or belief and, of those, Christianity was by far the largest faith. That said when it comes to recruitment the BBC hires staff based on skills and experience alone. To recruit based on faith or religious belief would be unlawful. As the majority faith of the UK, Christian programming is, and will remain, the cornerstone of the BBC’s religious output.”
The BBC is also frequently acccused of being staffed by 20-somethings but while the age-range is younger than the popualtion it may be argued not to be ridiculously so. 15% of staff are 20-29, 35.8% are 30 – 39, 31.4% are in the 40-49 bracket, 15.2% are aged 50-59 and 60+ accounts for 2.4%.
The Mail has certainly sensationalised the story, but it remains that BBC staff as a whole are unrepresentative of the population at large, where, according to the last census, around 72% claimed to be Christian, with just 15.5% saying they had no religion. At the BBC, out of those who have volunteered information, 39.5% claim to be Christian, 15.6% atheist and 25.6% of no religion. Other religions are similar to the proportions in the population.
Before the Conservatives won the election, their spokesman for culture said the BBC should actively seek to redress its “innate liberal bias”, quoting the phrase applied to the BBC by its former political editor Andrew Marr in 2007.
Mr Marr also described the BBC as “a publicly funded urban organisation with an abnormally large proportion of younger people, of people in ethnic minorities and almost certainly of gay people compared with the population at large”.
Now that he has been HM Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport for over a year, the Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP has done very little to sort out the ‘innate liberal bias’ at the BBC.
It is not only Andrew Marr who has raised his head above the parapet. In October 2008, the conductor of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra spoke of an ‘ignorant’ secular liberal minority in the media seeking to drive religion from the public sphere.
In January 2009, the Christian BBC presenter Jeremy Vine told Reform Magazine that it has become “almost socially unacceptable to say you believe in God” on the BBC. He did not think he would be allowed to say that Christ is who he said he was on air.
In July 2006, a veteran BBC executive told a meeting called to address the problem of anti-Christian bias: ‘There was widespread acknowledgement that we may have gone too far in the direction of political correctness. ‘Unfortunately, much of it is so deeply embedded in the BBC’s culture, that it is very hard to change it.’
Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, responded:
‘It would be good to know the religious break-down of people in BBC top jobs, because it rather seems as if the Christians at the BBC have either a secularist world-view or little vision of how to turn the place upside down, as the early Apostles were accused of doing. Putting the comments from Andrew Marr and Jeremy Vine together, it just seems far easier to be atheistic and gay than to be normal and Christian at the BBC.
‘The BBC’s atheistic staff bias becomes amplified in its programming. For example, the Radio 4 programme ‘The Moral Maze’ regularly has atheists as 3 out of 4 of its panel. Only Melanie Phillips is allowed to articulate the views of the majority of the audience, who of course, are almost exactly as Judeo-Christian as the Moral Maze panel is atheist.
‘It is good that there is some religious programming on the BBC, and that Christianity is the cornerstone of it, but it is kept safely in its God-slot ghetto, from where a flagship religious programme like Songs of Praise is kept as bland as possible and is allowed to irritate but not seriously challenge the atheist status quo.
‘The real problem is not the lack of Christian programming, but the fact that no world-view other than a tedious atheist outlook informs normal programming content. The BBC really should have the decency to acknowledge there are valid points of view other than the grindingly politically-correct anti-Christ atheism held by the majority of its staff.
‘Christians in soaps are always portrayed as weak, or stupid, or bigoted. Meanwhile, story-lines are concocted to introduce homosexuals whenever possible and to show favoured religious minorities in a good light. We have had pro-lifers as terrorists.
‘While the BBC’s natural history programming is often inspiring, it is impossible for a wildlife programme to look objectively at the wonder of nature. The audience are treated like small children in a school-room, always having to be reminded that the animals ‘developed’, ‘evolved’, or ‘appeared’.
‘When the BBC decided to make a programme about language, they had to get the anti-Christian atheist homosexual Stephen Fry to present it.
‘When they wanted to look at anthropology, it was only natural to them to seek out the fanatical evolutionist Dr Alice Roberts. In ‘The Origins of Us‘ we had vacuous subjective claims that our ape-like ancestors apparently miraculously (something in which perhaps only a minority at the BBC would believe) decided to walk upright in search of food as they surveyed the African savannah, and that our tools moulded the shape of our hands, rather than the other way around. The lack of objectivity and the amount of unfounded speculation makes such programmes rather silly but the BBC’s atheist oligarchy press on regardless.
‘The vision of Lord Reith was of a BBC which would elevate viewers with whatever things were pure, lovely and of good report and to promote virtue. He set this vision in stone.
‘As they shuffle past the declaration in the entrance to Broadcasting House, the atheists in charge at the BBC seem intent on promoting the very opposite. An opportunity to sneer at Christianity or Christians is rarely allowed to pass.
‘Obviously the BBC will have no overt recruiting policy that puts Christians at a disadvantage. It is more subtle than that. The BBC simply appears to be a self-perpetuating atheist oligarchy, and it will take a miracle akin to that of those fabled ancestors walking upright before there is any change.’
PRAY: For the BBC’s Christians to be given faith in the conquering King of kings and courage to stand up for all they believe. Pray for a miracle in the management, that God would be honoured once again so that the words inscribed in the Broadcasting House entrance hall would become an inspiration.
The Broadcasting House Inscription, set in Latin for all to see, above a statue of ‘The Sower’:

‘To Almighty God this shrine of the arts, music and literature is dedicated by the first Governors in the year of our Lord 1931, John Reith being Director General. It is their prayer that good seed sown will produce a good harvest, that everything offensive to decency and hostile to peace will be expelled, and that the nation will incline its ear to those things which are lovely, pure and of good report and thus pursue the path of wisdom and virtue’.
A Constitutional challenge has been mounted in Belize to the laws which currently make unnatural acts a criminal offence. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for early in December (2011). We are calling for a mobilization of the church in prayer across the world for our brethren in Belize. If Belize is rolled over by the homosexual juggernaut, the rest of the Caribbean could easily follow.
The Constitution of Belize (formerly British Honduras) was settled in 1981. It acknowledges the supremacy of God, stresses human rights, freedom and the family. No-one has claimed before now that men suddenly have an inalienable right to commit acts of sodomy and gross indecency under it, especially as it says: ‘freedom is founded upon respect for moral and spiritual values and upon the rule of law’.
The law suit has been filed by an organisation called UNIBAM. UNIBAM is short for United Belize Advocacy Movement, which hides behind concern about HIV/AIDS but is nothing more than a shameless homosexual rights group. UNIBAM’s court case is fronted by the former UK Labour Attorney General, Lord Goldsmith QC, and has drawn condemnation from churches in Belize.
The US Embassy website admits that its grant to UNIBAM is for pro-gay propaganda. In their own words, the project: ‘will increase public awareness about homophobia while creating a safe space for HIV prevention work. The organization will organize a national debate on homophobia and human rights. Other initiatives will include the distribution of wrist bands to raise awareness of the issue, prevention education sessions among LGBT population, and the airing of public service announcements.’ View HERE.
Both UNIBAM and another pro-gay group, the Alliance Against Aids (AAA) are totally funded from abroad. The people of Belize themselves are overwhelmingly opposed to homosexuality. In the case of AAA, their money comes mainly from HIVOS, the wealthy Dutch Humanist body. Caleb Orozco, the founder and head of UNICAM, claims to have “‘friends in high places’ politically and in the media.” Homosexual View HERE.
UNIBAM has also received money from the United Nations Population Fund UNFPA (see page 7 of this link):
Dean Barrow, the Prime Minister of Belize, has come out against the move, according to a report from the ‘gay travelers network’, who are very interested in having a new exotic location in which to corrupt local youth for a dollar or two. The same website reveals that, astonishingly, the Commonwealth Lawyers Association is backing UNICAM:
Even this pro-gay BMJ article reveals that homosexual practices are dangerous and unsanitary. For a more detailed look, supported by research done by homosexual doctors, this scholarly article shows the implications for health and morals in Belize from decriminalising these acts of perversion.
African nations have reacted with fury and defiance to pressure from David Cameron and other leaders of decadent Western nations to decriminalise sodomy. Nigeria is poised to outlaw gay marriage, according to The Guardian (UK). A more balanced and informative article was in the Nigeria Sun newspaper. The British High Commissioner in Lagos, Andrew Lloyd, is furious. ‘Britain and other western countries would not tolerate any law that prescribes punishment for gays’, said Mr Lloyd.
Despite what the Guardian says about other African countries scrapping anti-gay laws, it’s all the other way. Zambia and Zimbabwe have said they will not enact gay rights, according to a UK homosexual paper. (Although we cannot imagine what possessed Morgan Tsvangirai to say he now believes ‘gay rights are human rights’.)
Ghana’s President John Atta Mills said he will never enact laws which will ‘destroy the moral fibre of society’, while John Nagenda of the Ugandan Presidential Office said “Uganda is, if you remember, a sovereign state and we are tired of being given these lectures … “If they must take their money, so be it,” he concluded.
Malawi’s governmental spokesperson Patricia Kaliati said that it was “unfortunate” that Britain was considering “pro-gay strings” to aid, adding that homosexual acts are illegal in Malawi. She noted that such laws are a legacy of British rule, reported Nyasa Times, but the laws were and are entirely consistent with African moral values, even though Britian is now sinking into a swamp of immorality and perversion, where homosexuals are now persecuting Christians.
Tanzania’s foreign affairs minister Bernard Membe said: “Tanzania will never accept Cameron’s proposal because we have our own moral values. Homosexuality is not part of our culture and we will never legalize it. Tanzania is ready to end diplomatic ties with Britain if it imposes conditions on the assistance it provides to pressurize for adoption of laws that recognize homosexuality. We are guided by our tradition. We have families of a mother, a father and children. What Cameron is doing might lead to the collapse of the Commonwealth.”
The President of Zanzibar, Ali Mohamed Shein, said that Islamic and Zanzibari culture abhors gay and lesbian activities. “We cannot compromise our deeply rooted culture or [allow] something which [is] completely against our religion. Let them cut off aid,” he said.
The fact is, the UK has to get rid of its aid budget, which is not so much about helping poorer nations as making our politicians look good. If mothers die in childbirth in an African nation because the UK denied that country aid on a gay whim, it will not look good on David Cameron’s CV. So their ‘lectures’, as Uganda described them, are mere posturing.
But back to the subject. The threat to Belize is real. Please pray for the Church in Belize to be granted wisdom, resources and favour with the judges, pray for confusion in the homosexual camp, and please sign our Save Africa from Sodomy Petition (if you have not already done so).
The Queen held a state banquet of halal food for the President of Turkey on 22nd November at which she assured him that HM Government would help Turkey join the European Union.
(1) Where and how and by whom were the animals slaughtered and cooked and which Muslim certifying authority approved it?
(2) Since when did it become HM Gvt policy to campaign for Turkey to join the EU? Actually, the answer to this is since at least 2007, when David Milliband visited Turkey. But it does not hurt to ask.
(3) Did no Christian on the guest list object to eating food sacrificed to an idol?

So who ate the Queen’s Halal nosh? Unless he went for the vegetarian option, the Archbishop of Canterbury was among those who feasted on food sacrificed to the idol ‘Allah’ at the Queen’s table. When the Queen or the Archbishop are guests of the President of Turkey (as HM was in 2008 on her state visit) do their hosts serve up and sit down to meat slaughtered in the British way, ie stunned and with no incantations to their god, in deference to the sensibilities of their honoured guests? No, because the Turks take their religion seriously.

Domenic Johansson remains separated from his parents, even as Swedish Social Services seek to remove all remaining parental rights.
Domenic, now 10 after his recent birthday, has been separated from his parents two and a half years, following his abduction by Social Services while seated in a commercial airliner with his parents awaiting departure on a flight to India.
Domenic is a citizen of India, and his mother’s family all live in India. However, Swedish Social Services in Domenic’s home town of Gottland decided to prevent the family’s departure in order to force the boy to attend their school.
The family had received no preliminary warning, nor they had been forbidden from leaving the country. They had also not been accused of breaking the law. Indeed, the only complaint the Swedish Social Services had against the family at the time was that they wanted to homeschool.
Throughout the ordeal the rights of the parents have not been respected and they have not even been allowed to choose their own legal representation.
Christian Voice Members will receive information in our next newsletter about the protests we have planned, and other ways that you can help reunite Domenic with his parents.
Summary of the Domenic Saga
The tragic saga began the year before when Domenic was six and his father, Christer Johannson, contacted the Swedish Ministry of Education to inquire about home education.
Domenic as he played happily just hours before his abduction.
Christer Johannson is Swedish, while his wife, Annie Johansson, is a citizen of India. Because they were planning on relocating to India soon to be with Annie’s family, Christer thought it would be best to homeschool Domenic during the interim. While Christians, the parents were not committed to homeschooling for ideological reasons and had even planned on putting their son in the public school once they reached India.
Annie has two Masters Degrees and is highly qualified in the task of educating her son. Moreover, homeschooling was not illegal in Sweden at the time.
When Mr. Johansson got in touch with the Swedish Ministry of Education to inquire about home education, the Ministry told him to contact his local school principal in order to obtain the necessary curriculum. However, when Mr. Johannson contacted the principal of the nearest public school, the principal refused to provide the materials, saying “You don’t have the right to educate your son and I will be taking this further.”
What the principal meant by “taking it further” was that the family would be reported to the social services. Mr. Johansson didn’t know that at the time, but he did know that the Ministry of Education, Swedish law and Europe’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights all allowed them to homeschool. So he and Annie began homeschooling Domenic.
Officials at the local school district were furious about this and called Mr. Johansson before a hearing of the Child and Education Department.
Domenic in the airplane watching as police board to put him into foster care. The Swedish Social Services’ purpose in preventing the family moving to India is because they wanted Domenic to attend the state schools in Sweden.
During the hearing Mr. Johansson explained to the judge that the family was planning on relocating to India in six weeks to be with Annie’s family. It did not make sense to keep Domenic in the state school only to withdraw him shortly afterwards. The judge replied, “Ok, fine” and asked for the date of travel.
No court order was issued prohibiting the family from leaving the country. Domenic is a dual citizen of Sweden and India and had every right to accompany his parents on the move. Thus, Christer and Annie were shocked when the authorities boarded the airliner and forcibly removed Domenic.
Social Services’ only purpose in removing Domenic from the airplane was to prevent him moving to India where he would be outside the jurisdiction of the Swedish state schools. He was not truant from school at the time because it was summer break. As the Alliance Defence fund have pointed out in their application of appeal to the European Court of Human Rights:
“Domenic Johansson was removed from that plane only because social services believed it knew better than his parents what was in Domenic’s best interest; a belief steeped in discrimination against their religious and philosophical beliefs with regard to Domenic’s upbringing and education…Swedish officials removed this boy from an international flight solely to prevent his parents from moving to another nation and from educating him in a manner that is lawful in India, in Sweden, and in a majority of nations…
“please let me come home”
For the Johansson family, that was just the beginning of their troubles. After having their son snatched from their custody, the immediate problem was how to get Domenic back.
Christer and Annie were only able to visit their son, now in foster care, for one hour every five weeks.
They soon faced a new dilemma. The visits with their son were allowed to continue but only on the condition that they pretend to their son that they did not want him to come home with them and were happy for him to be in foster care. Social Services said they would lose visitation rights forever if they did not keep up the pretense.
During every visit there was always a social worker in the room, listening to every word and taking notes.
I interviewed a man who spoke to Christer last September when this was going on. He said:
“In September Christer expressed his frustration to me that social services was putting extreme pressure on him and his wife to pretend to Domenic that they don’t want him back and that they are happy with his current custodial arrangement, in order to be allowed to have continued visitation.
Christer said that the requirement to pretend to be happy with the situation was putting a great deal of additional mental and emotional stress on his family, beyond what you would expect from the situation itself.
After 18 months, the Johannsens finally exhausted all the legal appeals available to them in the Swedish court system. They hired one of the best human rights lawyers in Europe, but the judge dismissed her from the case. Last December, the Supreme Administrative Court of Sweden rejected their final appeal on the grounds that by preventing the family moving to India, the court was protecting Domenic’s “right to education.”
Meanwhile, it became increasingly difficult for Christer and Annie to keep lying to their son.
Every time the visits occurred, Domenic would ask, “please let me come home.” And every time the parents were forced to try to pretend that they didn’t want Domenic back.
Christer knew what often happened to other Swedish children in foster care, and worried for his son’s safety. In Daniel Hammarberg’s shocking exposé of the Swedish social services,The Madhouse: A Critical Study of Swedish Society, Hammarberg gives alarming evidence of what happens to the mental health of children like Domenic who have been taken away from their parents. (To read excerpts from the book, click here. To get the book on Kindle, click here.) Some of victims of the Swedish Social Services, such as 13 year old Elin, have even committed suicideChrister began to worry what might happen to his son if Domenic continued to think that his parents were rejecting him.
This put the parents in an agonizing position. Should they continue to lie to their son and destroy his faith in the only two human beings in this world that truly love him? Or should they tell Domenic the truth – that they love him and want him back?
After an agonizing time, Christer decided to tell his son the truth and suffer the consequences. So just last week during visitation, Domenic once again begged his father to take him home. This time, instead of lying, Christer said, “ok, let’s go.” The social workers in Sweden are unarmed so there was nothing they could do to stop him from walking out of the visitation room with Domenic.
Domenic was able to spend a beautiful day and a half with his parents and grandparents, whom he had not seen in 18 months. During this time Christer and Annie explained to Domenic the truth. They explained that they had not rejected him, that they loved him and had been fighting for his freedom for the last 18 months. They told him that whatever happened they would always love him.
“Held Hostage” by the Government
The police wasted no time. When they found out where the family was, several squad cars descended upon the Johansson home. Armed police swept in, dragging Domenic out into the unseasonably frigid temperatures without even giving him an opportunity to get his jacket. Christer was thrown into jail, charged with kidnapping his own son. Although he was released last February (to read our story about it, click here), Domenic remains a captive.
Domenic loved his parents and grandparents. He had a rich and happy childhood and was well provided for by his intelligent Christian parents. However, in Sweden it is the State that is the ultimate parent. Drunk with a sense of their own omnipotence, Swedish Social Services could not let the family move to India for the simple reason that they would then no longer be able to force Domenic to attend their state schools.
“I have never in 20 years of practice seen a case more badly handled,” commented Harrold-Claaesson, a noted international human rights lawyer and president of the Nordic Committee for Human Rights. She continued:
“This family has been so traumatized that they may never recover. The Swedish government has grossly violated this family’s human rights, both under Swedish law and under the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR). Under the ECHR people have the right to leave their country. But in this case the social services took this poor little boy and prevented him from leaving with his parents. He is being held a hostage—essentially kidnapped by the Swedish government. It is an absolute embarrassment for Sweden and for every person involved in this case. Each person, from the social workers to the judges, should be ashamed of their behavior and their continuing callousness towards this family. They all must be brought to justice for their crimes against the Johansson family.”

Boycott Tesco and email their Chief Executive. Remember: Every Little Helps!
Or to put it more accurately, God will humble proud Tesco, in answer to prayer.
As the Daily Mail has reported, retail giant Tesco have stopped sponsoring Cancer Research UK and switched their support to that annual display of aggression and depravity, London Gay Pride. But the Bible says: When pride cometh, then cometh shame (Prov 11:2).
Tesco’s idea of family – sad body-building homosexuals obessessed by looks and the male anatomy
Mr Richard Littlejohnsaid: ‘If gays want to dress up as Carmen Miranda or mince up and down The Mall in nothing but their knickers, that’s fine by me. But why would Britain’s biggest supermarket want to be associated with such an event, at the expense of cancer victims?’
There are five important and effective things Christians can do:
1 Pray that God will send repentance into the Tesco boardroom, and that they will reverse their grant to gay pride..
2 Boycott Tesco and encourage others to do the same.
3 Mount a witness with banners and/or give leaflets out to shoppers outside Tesco’s high street stores ‘Tesco Direct’ (they can throw you out of their car park, but you have every right to witness on the street). Contact us for leaflets. The text of the LEAFLET is HERE
4 Email/write to the Tesco Group Chief Executive, Philip Clark, philip.clarke@tesco.com and their Marketing Director, Richard Brasher: richard.brasher@tesco.com. You can also write to their new Chairman, Sir Richard Broadbent, at New Tesco House, Delamare Rd, Cheshunt, Herts, EN8 9SL. His email seems to be: richard.broadbent@tesco.com (HERE is what one ex-Tesco-customer wrote.)
5 Sign our petition ‘Boycott Tesco’. Make sure you right-click and then open it in a new tab or window to keep this page on-screen.
There are a couple of other really effective things to do as well, but we shall let Christian Voice members exclusively know about them at the proper time through our newsletter which never goes up on the web!
Aggressive and depraved - London Gay Pride
Tesco’s spin centres on ‘diversity’ as an ‘inclusive store’ – they even have an ‘Out at Tesco’ webpage promoting sodomy amongst their employees and a page commending staff for taking part in the 2010 parade – and ignores the fact that Gay Pride is a provocative and aggressive display of indecency and perversion. For all their posturing, would Tesco actually like a gay pride march through one of their stores? And if they are really interested in diversity, will they be sponsoring the ex-gay movement? Don’t hold your breath.
If you can bear it, here is a video link of Soho Pride, part of the London set-up in 2008. And it that was not enough, here is a video link showing just what the gentle, tolerant gays and their supporters think of those who disagree with them with music from someone called Lily Allen. Thanks, Anglican Mainstream.
Tesco have denied that sponsoring gay pride was at the expense of Cancer Research, but the facts are that Tesco’s support for the annual fundraising Race for Life, the UK’s largest women-only charity event, helped Cancer Research raise more than £400million for the fight against cancer since it began in 1994.
Tesco announced it would be a headline sponsor of Pride London just days after ending their partnership with Cancer Research. Tesco’s Head of Research and Development, a militant anti-Christian homosexual called Nick Lansley, lobbied hard for that decision.
Here at Christian Voice we have a soft spot for cancer charities ever since Maggies Centres courageously turned down tainted money from the blasphemous Jerry Springer the Opera in 2006 and were rewarded by making far more from the publicity around that decision than what they would have received from the show. Why on earth should Tesco think that dumping a cancer charity to take up with Gay Pride is a clever (even a good commercial) decision?
The militant atheist magazine Freethinker helpfully points out that the Co-op sponsor Manchester Gay Pride (as well as throwing Christian Voice out of their bank) and that ASDA’s parent Wal-Mart give benefits to gay partners of employees in the USA. Unless ‘Christian fundies want to starve themselves’, they chuckle, ‘they better (sic) start thinking fast of joining the grow-your-own movement’.
Well that’s a good idea in itself, but have they forgotten Sainsbury, not to mention your local shops? In addition, as we pointed out in our video on the supermarkets and halal, if you want to be sure of avoiding halal-slaughtered fresh meat, just shop at M&S or Morrisons.
Some words from Proverbs and from Mary on the subject of pride to inform your prayer. Remind the Lord of his word as you pray:
Prov 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Prov 11:2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.
Prov 13:10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
Prov 14:3 In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
Prov 16:5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
Prov 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Prov 29:23 A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.
Luke 1:49 For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. 50 And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation. 51 He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. 52 He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.
James 4:6 Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
Today the Episcopal Church (USA) honours George Whitefield with a special feast day. There is good reason for this since Whitefield played a seminal role in the spiritual formation of the United States. The article below, which first appeared in Christian Voice’s July 2009 newsletter, explains about Whitefield’s remarkable life and his influence in both Britain and America.
If you had been at the Bell Inn, in Gloucester England in the 1720’s, you would have witnessed an unusual site. A small boy was acting out a sermon for the entertainment of the guests. It was not uncommon for this boy, the youngest among widow Elizabeth Whitfield’s seven children, to engage in theatrical re-enactments of sermons and Bible stories for the guests at his mother’s inn. But this time, something was different. Reciting the sermon he had heard on Sunday as a type of game, young George Whitfield was quite unprepared for the response he received as some of the onlookers began to weep.
It was a portent of things to come. When George grew up and became a famous preacher, he found that his words had a strange affect on people, provoking emotions for which he was often unprepared.
Born in 1714, George’s childhood was far from easy. His father died when he was only two, leaving the running of the inn to Elizabeth. After a disastrous second marriage and divorce, George’s older brother eventually took over the management of the inn, while George was sent to the cathedral school of Saint Mary.
From an early age George had showed a keen interest in matters of religion. However, as Stephen Mansfield reflects in his biography of Whitefield, the boy was not without a touch of paradox. “He stole money from his mother’s purse but then used it to buy religious books. He would fight viciously with boys in the streets and then fall weeping on the floor of his bedroom to pray for the souls of those he had just pummeled. His brothers and sisters thought he loved church just because it was a grand drama that suited his vain, theatrical little mind, but his mother later found him asking such astute questions that she knew something of the divine was penetrating his soul Sunday after Sunday.”
Eamon Delaney said ‘Increasingly, it seems as if the homosexual community has forgotten that it is the minority’ with its demands for gay marriage, adoption, children’s birth certificates falsified to show two ‘mothers’ or two ‘fathers’, etc, etc.
And it is as if the wrath of Juno has landed on his head. The column, in the Irish Independent, attracted over 500 comments in a week, the vast bulk of them adverse.
Just google ‘Eamon Delany gay’ and see how viral the whole thing went. But some are standing up for him, with the Irish Iona Institute (not to be confused with a similar sounding body this side of the Irish Sea) among the best.
This is in a country which did not even legalise sodomy until 1995. Just sixteen years later and righteousness cannot even raise its voice, just like Lot in Sodom. And look at what is happening in the UK.
What a lesson to African and Caribbean countries to keep their anti-sodomy laws, as Shirley Richards has pointed out in a very articulate and well-researched article in the Jamaica Gleaner.
If you let the camel get his nose inside the tent, pretty soon you have the unwelcome company of his backside.
The Email address of the President of Iran is further down this post. Update ends.
Call to rescind death penalty for Iranian pastor.
Our urgent action is needed to secure an official pardon for Iranian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani, convicted of apostasy.
Christian Solidarity say it has become traditional to pardon prisoners during Eid Al-Ahda in some parts of the Muslim world. Already during Eid 2011, hundreds of prisoners have been pardoned in Morocco, Egypt and Dubai. We have just today to secure a pardon for Pastor Nadarkhani during Eid, but if you read this after the date, your emails will bring much needed pressure after the festival as well.
Melanie Phillips wrote about this case a month ago. Pastor Youcef continues to deny the charges of apostasy, and it is not at all clear if he has ever held the Muslim faith to apostatise from it. In the face of pressure from the USA, the Iranians went into panic mode and claimed the Pastor had committed other crimes, crimes for which, strangely enough, he has never been charged. It seems he may have been asked, and refused, to recant and deny Jesus Christ three times now.
Melanie Phillips concludes: ‘It is still possible to save this man’s life if enough protest is made. British political leaders should be making their voices heard very loudly against this barbarity by the Islamic Republic of Iran. Have you been hearing them? No, nor have I.’
– EMAIL: Since the expulsion of Iranian diplomats, we can no longer email the Iranian Chargé d’affaires at the UK Embassy. However, we can email the President of Iran, and ask him, respectfully of course, when Pastor Nadarkhani will be acquitted, or pardoned, and released. Head your email: ‘Attn: His Excellency the President’ then begin ‘Your Excellency’ and conclude ‘Yours faithfully.’ dr-ahmadinejad@president.ir
– Email your MP and ask him/her to ask the Foreign Secretary to call in the Iranian Charge d’Affaires to demand Pastor Nadarkhani be released.
Remember: When emailing or writing to dignitaries of any sort, keep to one subject, keep it simple and ask a question.
Psalm 31:2 Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me.
Daniel 3:25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
PRAY: That we shall hear speedily that Pastor Nadarkhani has been delivered from prison, and that HMG put real pressure on the Iranians to release our brother. Pray that in the meantime he will know the presence of the Lord Jesus just as the children of Israel had the Son of God with them in the fiery furnace.Pray too for his wife and two sons at this difficult time that the Lord will uphold them.
Then the Philistines took the ark of God and brought it from Ebenezer to Ashdod. When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagonand set it by Dagon. And when the people of Ashdod arose early in the morning, there was Dagon, fallen on its face to the earth before the ark of the LORD. So they took Dagon and set it in its place again. And when they arose early the next morning, there was Dagon, fallen on its face to the ground before the ark of the LORD. The head of Dagon and both the palms of its hands were broken off on the threshold; only Dagon’s torso was left of it. Therefore neither the priests of Dagon nor any who come into Dagon’s house tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod to this day. (1 Samuel 5: 1-5)
Twenty-two years ago on this day, 9 November, I remember watching the evening news with my parents as the Berlin wall come tumbling down. Though I was only a child, the event had a marked effect on me.
You see, three years earlier, when I had been eleven, my family had traveled to West Germany. One afternoon my dad drove us to see the wall separating West and East Germany. I still remember how ominous the electric fence looked which divided the free world from the “evil empire.”
As we emerged from the car, we were met by a chill, drizzling rain. On the other side of the fence a lone guard stared gloomily at us. The rest of my family had their picture taken about thirty feet from the fence, but I was too afraid to venture near. A few minutes later I plucked up the courage and asked my dad to photograph me next to the terrible barrier, or as close to it as I dared approach.
That was three years before that evening in 1989 when I sat with my brothers and parents to watch the wall being torn down. Communism had collapsed and Eastern Europe was finally free.
The fall of the Berlin Wall twenty-two years ago reminds us that that when the state confuses itself with God, its days are numbered.
A year after these momentous changes, we went back to Germany. This time there was no fence preventing us driving into the Eastern section. We traveled to Berlin where the remnants of the wall still zigzagged through the city like a serpent. In some areas there were portions of the wall still intact. Here and there I saw people dismantling the remains of this hated emblem of totalitarianism.
There was something strangely moving in seeing the broken concrete all over the ground and thinking, “So this is all that is left of a regime that tried to turn the state into God.” I stooped down and collected some big chunks of the rubble, determined one day to show them to my own children.
The fall of the Berlin Wall on 9 November 1989 reminds us that God judges regimes that try to usurp His place as redeemer. Make no mistake, for that is exactly what the communist parties of Eastern Europe did. In preaching that government was the solution to all of society’s ills, in teaching that public policy can bring civic regeneration and utopia, the communist parties of Eastern Europe presented a parody of the true gospel and a false narrative of redemption. The fall of the Berlin wall twenty-two years ago reminds us that government cannot be God, and all attempts to deify the state are doomed to end in abject failure. The fall of the Berlin wall revealed the utter futility of what David Galland recently called the “unblinking faith in an all-caring, omnipotent ‘Godvernment’.”
While the communism of the Eastern block may have failed, idolatrous attempts to deify the state continue. Indeed, the latest attempt to invest Government with quasi-divine powers can be seen in the gross idolatry of the European Union.
With utopian zeal, the pioneers of a united Europe have defended the project by attributing a near messianic status to their institutions. One of the chief areas where this messianism plays out is in the EU’s promotion of secular sanctification. The EU is concerned, not simply with promoting law and order, but in how citizens should think, how they should speak, what medicines they may take, what wealth they may retain, what risks they are permitted to run, how much they may pay for wearing their own noses and, this week, when they may or may not fly the Union Jack. In short, the EU has been interested in managing the minutia of our personal lives, claiming for itself the kind of authority our Saviour invoked in Mt. 28:18.
The utopian fervour to use totalitarian governments as a mechanism for ushering in the new heavens and the new earth reached a climax of blasphemy in May of last year when a special liturgy was conducted at Westminster Abbey to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, a document that is viewed as the first step in the foundation of the present European Union. In a strange synthesis of Christianity and state worship, the flag of the European Union was presented at the Westminster altar while an extract from the Schuman Declaration was read from the Pulpit, together with scripture passages about the New Heavens and the New Earth. (To learn more about this blasphemous service, see ‘European Union Invokes New Heavens and New Earth’.)
On Monday David Cameron insisted that Britain’s "national interests" would be served by British tax payers ploughing £40billion into the euro debt crisis.
If the fall of the Berlin Wall on 9 November revealed the utter failure of the messianic state within the communist Eastern block, so the recent breakup of Europe’s financial systems points to the failure of the EU to play the part of God. Yet there is a difference. When the Berlin wall fell to the ground, the leaders of Eastern Europe knew that their game was up. By contrast, as Europe’s financial systems lay in disarray all around us, our leaders remain trapped in what David Galland has described as “a delusional and self-destructive cycle of believing that the Godvernments can solve all that ails – even though almost all that ails is caused or made worse by those very same institutions – then things can only get worse from here.”
As in the story in 1 Samuel 5, the god Dagon has fallen. Yet like the foolish Philistines, Eurocrats keep trying to prop their idol back into place with multiple unsuccessful bailout plans and economic patch-up jobs. To admit what everyone knows – that the Euro-zone is imploding on itself – would be to acknowledge the failure of the entire European project. However, this is something that our leaders are still unwilling to do. Thus, they continue to prop-up the idol of the messianic state with ‘solutions’ that can only defer, but never abate, the Euro’s eventual collapse. We see this every time Europe’s governments attempts to treat the debt crisis with more debt, not least this week when David Cameron confirmed that Britain’s stake in the bailout machine known as the International Monetary Fund would increase from the current level of £29.5billion to up to £40billion.
We can therefore expect Dagon to keep coming unglued and crashing to the ground. This point (minus the Biblical elusions) was made by David Galland in the article I have already cited:
“expect the latest eurozone patch-up job to come unglued. When you have the heads of the eurozone’s largest countries talking about levering up bailout funds or ringing up the Chinese to ask for money, you know the latest ‘solution’ to the eurozone’s intractable problems is little more than a hastily concocted plan to kick the wine bottle just a bit further down the road. The problem is that nothing suggested begins to resolve the structural problems of the eurozone – because nothing can be done to resolve those problems. Thus, a heads-up speculator will look for ways of betting on failure and place those bets during brief flare-ups of euro-optimism.”
In our forthcoming newsletter, which should be with our members this weekend, we have unveiled a new strategy to effectively campaign to get Britain out of the EU. To join Christian Voice and begin receiving a copy of our monthly newsletter, see the information below.

In Wessex England, sometime in the late seventh century, a group of boys gathered on the grass after church. While the rest of the villagers enjoyed their church’s fellowship meal, the boys were being led by one young man in his favorite sport – throwing boulders at one another.
The young man would be known to history by the name he would later adopt: Boniface. As this young man grew, he quickly distinguished himself as the roughest, toughest boy in the village.
Not only did Boniface excel in the virtues of strength, courage and manliness, but he also had a reputation for his aptitude in academics. This may be one of the reasons why, from an early age, he was attracted to the monastic way of life. In those days, the priests were the custodians of knowledge and it was in the monasteries that the great libraries were housed.
The respected journalist Melanie Phillips has been congratulated by Christian Voice on her award of ‘Bigot of the Year’ by the Stonewall homosexual lobby group. But we have accused Stonewall of cowardice for not inviting any of those shortlisted to their awards dinner last night.
Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, was also shortlisted for the award for his comments about Elton John’s designer baby and for championing the right of African nations to keep sodomy as a criminal offence.
The others shortlisted on the Stonewall website were the Rt Rev Arthur Roche, Scottish Section 28 campaigner Sir Brian Souter and Bill Walker MSP. Not one of those shortlisted was actually invited to the awards ceremony and dinner, an omission described as a ‘grave discourtesy’ by Christian Voice.
Stephen Green said today:
‘It was a great honour to be shortlisted for Stonewall’s ‘Bigot of the Year’ award and I am disappointed not to have won. I really must put more effort into opposing the gay rights lobby before next year’s event. All the same, I congratulate Melanie Phillips for her winning position of standing up for the right of children not to be abused by Stonewall-devised homosexual imagery in sex education.
‘Yesterday I described Stonewall’s failure to invite those shortlisted for such an important award as a grave discourtesy. I expressed disappointment that a group which has, as I put it, “such lofty ideals as the promotion of buggery and gross indecency” should be so lacking in the fundamentals of social intercourse.
‘When any public body holds an awards ceremony, they invite those shortlisted for each award as a courtesy. But ‘Bigot of the Year’ is not a serious award, it is merely an attempt by the homosexuals to bully and humiliate someone in public life. Chris Grayling MP, Jan Moir and the Earl of Devon have been on the receiving end in previous years for imagined slights against homosexuals.
‘However, the last thing a bully wants is for their victim to stand up and give them a taste of their own medicine. Stonewall don’t actually have the courage to invite those shortlisted for fear that the winner might tell the assembled gays a few home truths. They daren’t risk that. Like all bullies, they are cowards.
‘The Nationwide Building Society sponsor the Stonewall annual awards dinner, which does not stop the greedy gay group from charging those attending £180.00 a ticket.
‘The ‘Bigot’ award ought to be an embarrassment to them and that may be the reason why they don’t mention it when patting themselves on the back on their company website.
‘I call on Nationwide to apologise to those whom Stonewall has accused of ‘bigotry’ or state that they approve of bullying and humiliating public figures and the cowardice of not allowing them to answer back.’
Members can email the Nationwide Chief Executive, Graham Beale, on gjbeale2@nationwide.co.ukto put these points to him or phone 01793 513 513 (then say the name “Graham Beale”).

Few would have expected David and Catherine Carmichael’s eldest daughter, Amy, to grow up to become one of the world’s most famous missionaries.
Born in 1867 in the small village of Millisle, Northern Ireland, there was nothing particularly unusual about this girl, who was known for her wilfulness, tomboyish attitude and a propensity to get into mischievous pranks.
Little did the Carmichael parents realize that their daughter would be God’s tool for rescuing hundreds of children from a life worse than death in the darkness of the Indian jungles.
Though Amy’s father died when she was five, the gap had been amply filled by the widower Robert Wilson. Cofounder of the Keswick Convention, Wilson was a catalyst for the holiness movement in England and a support for many missionaries around the globe. When she was in her young twenties, Wilson asked to be allowed to adopt Amy, for whom he felt a special fondness after the loss of his only daughter. Thus it was that Amy moved in with Mr. Wilson and his sons to work as his secretary. The job put Amy in direct contact with many of the missionaries around the world, including Hudson Taylor, Theodore Monod and F.B. Meyer. This was no doubt instrumental in pressing upon Amy the call to mission work.
On this very day (4 November) in 1789, the Frenchman Charles-Jean-François Depont wrote to Edmund Burke MP, requesting that he endorse the Revolution that had just broken out in France.
Burke’s response to Charles-Jean turned into one of the most celebrated political tracts in history, and for good reason. Not only did Burke’s Reflections on the Revolution in Francebecome a pillar of conservative political thought, but it stands alongside the works of Shakespeare and the King James Bible as being the greatest literary achievement in the English language.
Christian Voice did a biography of Edmund Burke in our January 2010 newsletter as part of our ongoing series of Christian heroes. (To join Christian Voice and receive our monthly newsletter, click HERE.) We explored Burke’s idea that true freedom can only be preserved by reverencing our ancestors. This is because liberty is not, according to Burke, a natural right of man but the product of tradition, family, and faith. As such, liberty is passed on in much the same way that property is transmitted, from one generation to another through inheritance.
To support this notion of liberty as an inheritance, Burke pointed to the great freedoms of the British tradition, showing that they had accumulated over a period stretching back to the Declaration of Rights, the Magna Charta and the entire network of common law freedoms preserved by the hereditary monarchy. He warned that the legacy of these liberties would not long abide a generation that was willing to cast off the heritage of their ancestors. At the same time, however, Burke did not advocate a static traditionalism; rather, whenever he wished to reform, it was in order to conserve. He understood the wisdom of Proverbs when it says, “Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set” (Prov. 22:28) and “My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change: For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?” (Prov. 24:21-22)
If Burke had lived long enough to see our own age, I do not think he would be pleased. We live at a time when the common law foundations that have been transmitted to us by our ancestors are under constant attack. Consider that
The previous Government discussed a blueprint for “sweep[ing] away centuries of tradition” by turning the House of Lords into an elected chamber.
In the last part of the 20th century and early 21st century, Government pared down our Common Law freedoms at an astonishing rate, including the right not to be punished until a court has decided that the law has been broken, the right to private communication, the right to trial by jury, the right to silence, the right to demonstrate and protest, the right to travel without surveillance and the presumption of innocence. (See Robin Phillips’ article, ‘The Orwellian Legacy of Tony Blair‘)
In 2008, the BBC reported that the Justice Secretary was considering replacing the British constitution with a written document like that possessed by the United States.
In April 2007, Parliament functionally nullified key aspects of the Magna Carta in order to meet the demands of homosexual activists. (See Scott Lively’s article ‘Requiem for the Magna Carta.‘)
Edmund Bruke would not be pleased by these developments. In fact, in his critique of the revolutionary mentality, he warned against this very thing. He cautioned against overturning years of established precedent to meet the demands of the latest fad.
Burke would also not be pleased by the way the present Government has taken it upon itself to challenge centuries of Common Law by suggesting that the rules regulating the succession of the British throne should be changed. (See our earlier article ‘Christian Voice Takes Stand For Male Primogeniture‘.) The campaign against male primogeniture is only one example of our leaders pandering to those who are “given to change” or attempting to remove “the ancient landmark” that Proverbs 22:28 enjoins us not to remove. Some translations refer to this as a ‘boundary stone’, bringing to mind the image of a person trying to increase his property through dishonest manipulation. However, more is at stake in this verse than mere property rights, a point made by Duane Garrett in his commentary on Proverbs:
“To move a boundary stone was to attempt to seize land furtively. More is involved here, however, than real property. The boundary stone represented the ancient constitution of Israel, and to violate that heritage was to undermine the distinctive character of the land in Israelite society.
In our day, no less than in ancient Israel, there are those who are attempting attempted to tamper with our Christian Constitution, and undermining the distinctive character of our land in the process. Let us join our voices with those of Burke in opposing such innovations.

Calls from Australia and Canada at the 2011 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Perth, Western Australia, echoing William Hague’s earlier speech to the Commonwealth People’s Forum, were opposed by African, Asian and Caribbean nations. Only Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom have enacted full gay rights. India’s High Court legalised sodomy and gross indecency in 2009, and South Africa has legalised homosexual activity in line with their pro-gay constitution, but both have stopped way short of the kind of measures which have seen Christians targeted by homosexual activists in the United Kingdom.
This positive outcome is a victory for righteousness and comes after Christian Voice organised a campaign of prayer throughout the Commonwealth. Christian Voice also exposed Michael Kirby, the Australian delegate who put down the motion to legalise unnatural acts, as an obsessive homosexual.
We give God the glory that David Cameron was left blustering on BBC’s Andrew Marr Show that he would use foreign aid to enforce his view, but admitting that any country’s position on gay rights was just ‘one of the things that will determine our aid policy’ and recognising that ‘they are in a different place to us on this issue’, suggested by Andrew Marr as ‘some sort of bizarre Western fetish’. You can watch the interview until 5th November 2011.
The reality is that Britain must get rid of its overseas aid budget somewhere. If it refuses to give aid to those African and Caribbean nations which view sodomy with disgust, it is a bit stuck. However, in the past it has used aid ‘creatively’ to support projects aimed at softening up populations to accept immorality and feminism.
The Department for International Development is targeting its aid to fewer countries. Its website says: ‘Our resources and impact will be concentrated on 27 countries which account for three quarters of global maternal mortality and nearly three quarters of global malaria deaths: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burma, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Nepal, Nigeria, Occupied Palestinian Territories, Pakistan, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Tajikistan,Tanzania, Uganda,Yemen, Zambia and Zimbabwe.’
If International Development Secretary Andrew Mitchell takes out all the countries which criminalise sodomy, he will be left with Burma, the Congo, India, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, South Africa and Tajikistan. But even then, public displays of homosexuality are a cultural taboo in pretty well all of them. Those committing homosexual acts in Congo, for example, are prosecuted under public decency laws. So are the children of current British aid recipients going to be denied secure schooling, vaccination, safe drinking water and improved sanitation? Does Cameron want women to die in pregnancy and childbirth and newborn babies to die needlessly without British aid?
Actually, African voices are beginning to voice the idea that foreign aid does more harm than good and if it is going to be attached to pro-gay strings the argument is made all the stronger. A good argument is made that foreign aid is there to make our politicians look caring for their own political advantage.
By a picture of a smirking Mitchell, the DfID website also says it wants to ‘help 10 million more women get access to modern family planning’. Mitchell is one of the House of Commons’ most pro-gay and pro-abortion MPs. As ‘modern family planning ‘ means abortion, and as the British Government is going to use foreign aid to campaign for that as well as for gay rights, these aid recipients are better off without it.
