David Cameron has quoted from the Gospel of Luke and spoken of ‘we’ Christians at a pre-Easter reception at Downing Street.

Tony Blair and Alastair Campbell famously didn’t ‘Do God’, but Mr Cameron is making rather a habit of it.  As Easter Sunday approaches, Mr Cameron has decided to “do God” in public, as Alastair Campbell might say.

In December last year, the Prime Minster called for a return to Christian values during a service held in Westminster Abbey to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible.

He said there were three reasons why the King James Bible was as relevant today as any point in its history.

“First, the King James Bible has bequeathed a body of language that permeates every aspect of our culture and heritage. Second, just as our language and culture is steeped in the Bible, so too is our politics.

“Third, we are a Christian country. And we should not be afraid to say so. Let me be clear: I am not in any way saying that to have another faith – or no faith – is somehow wrong.”

Now Mr Cameron has held a reception in Downing Street and quoted from the Gospel of Luke as he spoke of “we”  Christians.

“This is the time when, as Christians, we remember the life, sacrifice and living legacy of Christ. The New Testament tells us so much about the character of Jesus; a man of incomparable compassion, generosity, grace, humility and love. These are the values that Jesus embraced, and I believe these are values people of any faith, or no faith, can also share in, and admire.

“It is values like these that make our country what it is – a place which is tolerant, generous and caring. A nation which has an established faith, that together is most content when we are defined by what we are for, rather than defined by what we are against. In the book of Luke, we are told that Jesus said, ‘Do to others as you would have them do to you’ – advice that when followed makes for a happier, and better society for everyone.”

He told the assembled guests that he welcomed a Christian “fightback”. He said: “I think there’s something of a fightback going on, and we should welcome that. The values of the Bible, the values of Christianity, are the values that we need.”

Interestingly, this is what Jesus said about marriage, which Mr Cameron wants to change into a ‘gay’ version:

Mar 10:6  “But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. 7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; 8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. 9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”

Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said:

“The last verse, Mark 10:9, is normally taken to refer to individual marriages, which people in Britain today set aside as a routine.  I’ve been on the receiving end of divorce on demand.  Some fifty percent of marriages are now being put asunder because one party simply decides to walk out.

“But David Cameron wants to put asunder the whole institution of marriage as ordained in the beginning by God Almighty.  In 2007 he voted for the Sexual Orientation Goods and Services Regulations which have been used against Christian hoteliers operating the values of the Bible, yet now he urges a ‘fightback’ against secularism.

“David Cameron voted to abolish the blasphemy laws in May 2008, which provided a foundation for a culture of respect for both God and man.  In the same month he voted to allow animal/human hybrid embryos.  A day later he voted to allow abortion – or the murder of children in the womb – at 16 weeks gestation, a time when every organ and every brain function is in place and operating.  It was good that he quoted Christ’s ‘golden rule’ from Luke 6:13 (and Matthew 7:12) but he would not allow to be done to him what he allows to be done to children in the womb.

“It is a good beginning to call for Christian values and to urge a Christian fight-back, but Mr Cameron’s thinking needs to be joined up.  He needs to be transformed by the renewing of his mind.  How can he in all seriousness urge a ‘fight-back’ against the marginalisation of Christianity and against attempts to ban the wearing of crosses and crucifixes when the Home Office is fighting in the European Court to uphold exactly such a ban?

“David Cameron is right that the values of Christianity are the values that we need’ but he needs our prayers to realise that he cannot pick and choose from the Bible or from the teachings of the Lord.  Yes, respect for property helps stop youth looting from shops.  Yes, doing unto others as you would have them do unto you helps maintain order in society.

“But keeping a few of Christ’s commandments while breaking a raft of others is to break them all, as the Apostle James points out.

“A little like some of the church today, Mr Cameron overdoes the love and compassion of Christ, but shies away from his laws and judgments.  But even then he is selective.  He likes being compassionate to homosexuals to the extent of overturning God’s holy institution of marriage, but he doesn’t want a lot of compassion to be shown to last summer’s rioters, or for that matter to the disabled people being made redundant by Remploy.

“Napoleon liked religion when it maintained peace and order, and not when it challenged his assumed right to autocratic rule.  Such a convenient approach seems to be catching to leaders.

“I repeat, David Cameron needs our prayers; and a few letters might not go amiss either.”

I didn’t see much of either in what Mr Cameron said, to be fair.

  1. Puppet man cameron likes to talk out of his backside on most things, he bleats about christian and biblical values whilst he’s pro abortion and pro gay marriage, tell me mr cameron which bible do you read from?

  2. “Mr Cameron needs our prayers to realise that he cannot pick and choose from the Bible or from the teachings of the Lord”

This is pretty shaky ground isn’t it? I mean if you tell people they can’t pick and choose from the Bible, they have to swallow the whole thing. Which means you also have to stand for putting people to death if they work on the Sabbath, killing anyone who doesn’t believe in god, stoning people for blasphemy, killing anyone who blasphemes and buying and selling slaves. Amongst thousands of other abhorrent exhortations. Or are these allegorical? And who gets to choose which ones are allegorical and which ones are literal?

    • As opposed to today’s wonderful society? A society where we force people to work on the Sabbath, put out of a job any biologist who does believe in God (it’s ‘God’ by the way, not ‘god’) financially ruin anyone who utters the blasphemy that sodomy is wrong, kill anyone who happens to be inconvenient and not quite born yet (that’s over 500 innocent lives every day in the UK alone), and buy and sell sex and sexual imagery. Your comments on slavery are plain wrong, the Biblical penalty for taking a man captive and selling him into slavery is death and it was Christians who worked tirelessly in this country to abolish first the slave trade and then slavery itself. Atheists were quite happy with slavery.

        • As Stephen pointed out kidnapping is a capital crime in the Bible. But slavery in the sense of indentured servitude is a far better option than prison. It ensures that restitution can be made to victims. And making restitution is always the emphasis in the Bible. For the non-Israelite nations it was better to be a slave in Israel than to be a heathen enslaved to foreign gods like Molech and the states that enforced that servitude. It was open to any foreigner who wished to, to be circumcised and become an Israelite.

For Israelites who had fallen into slavery the law required that they be set free after six years – if they wanted to be – otherwise they could become a “homeborn” slave, adopted into the master’s family.

You should also bear in mind that for any crime to be prosecuted the Bible requires two or three witnesses of good character (or a voluntary confession with corroborating evidence) – NOT mere circumstantial evidence. Without these nobody could be prosecuted. Equally, if someone made a false accusation in court they were liable to the same penalty as the one against whom they testified would have been, had the allegation been true. This means that while adultery and sodomy may have occurred they were very rarely prosecuted.

In addition the death penalty was only ever mandatory for murder. Other crimes had a MAXIMUM penalty of death but in most cases could be remitted with a fine.

It must be obvious that despite all the so called liberalisation of society that has gone on since the 1960s, there is more misery and broken families, yet many seek to blame “religion” for all these ills.
I also note your quotes relative to slavery. Perhaps it is worth remembering that the great campaigners of the 18th and 19th century to abolish slavery were Christian campaigners based on the true application of the Bible.
As for “abortion on demand” I doubt 1 in 50,000 is as a result of rape, and the introduction in the 60s of abortion for just such occurances, quite apart from the horrors of the back street abortionists was one thing, but what we have now is abortion being treated as a form of contraception, the numbers make this a fact.
And lastly, reading your comments suggests to me it is you that seems to have a build up hate – I wonder why.

  3. “A society where we force people to work on the Sabbath”. Under British law, if you started work at your present place of employment before 1994, you cannot be forced to work on a Sunday. If you started work after 1994, and your contract states that you may be required to work Sundays, you can still change your mind and give your employer three months written notice and they cannot require you to work Sundays. So this is plain wrong.

“put out of a job any biologist who does believe in God”. This is simply incorrect, and you should justify such broad-brush statements. I suspect that Richard Dawkins’ rather bombastic approach has offended you, and you have extrapolated from him to all biologists. You should know that both Dawkins and Daniel Dennett irritate many atheists because of their polemical stance.

“financially ruin anyone who utters the blasphemy that sodomy is wrong”. You can say what you like, sweetheart. But if you go around preying on weak-minded folk and whipping them up into a frenzy of hatred against a portion of society, most people think you’re stepping over the line. It’s a fine balance, and it’s never going to please everyone. We have a long-established principle of toleration in this country, which means we don’t ban hate groups like yours or Nick Griffin’s, and that is one of the things that differentiates us from places like Saudi Arabia.

“kill anyone who happens to be inconvenient and not quite born yet”. So you’d go up to a raped woman and tell her you are forcing her to have the baby because of your ancient irrelevant scrolls. I see.

“buy and sell sex and sexual imagery”. Yeah the first bit isn’t great. Mind you, have you SEEN the cover of Men’s Health this month? Wow, those abs. Turn me blind they would.

“Your comments on slavery are plain wrong” “Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. You can will them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life. – Leviticus 25:44”

  4. I’m always amused by people who spend their time poring over the Bible, not to find Christ and salvation, but to try to discover errors or contradictions. Get a life, Ian! There’s an eternal one on offer if only you will seek it.

The O.T. judicial, ceremonial and dietary laws were given to Israel. They do not apply today, having been abrogated by Christ Himself (Mark 7: 14-20; John 8:1-12). The moral law, exemplified by the 10 Commandments remains (Matt 5:17-20) and binds all men, Christians as well as others.

Slavery was permitted in ancient Israel under certain conditions. However, Philemon 8-16 shows that it was/is not to be practised among Christians. That it continued for many years is sadly true, but it was eventually Christians who achieved its abolition.

Turning to Cameron, I don’t think he knows anything about real Chrisatianity. He is a politician and he’s just trying to keep everybody voting for him, Christians, homosexuals, Moslems, Uncle Tom Coblry and all. We shouldn’t be fooled into thinking that he really cares about any particular group. Maybe he thinks just enough about God to make him uneasy, which is perhaps promising. He certainly needs our prayers. However, he is not the cause of the current disasterous moral situation in this country, he is the result of it. ‘And even as [men] did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness….etc.’ (Romans 1:28f). The present government is actually God’s judgement on this country, and on the Church. Christians need to be not so much campaigning (though that is certainly important) as praying and repenting (2 Chronicles 7:13-14).

    Martin

  5. “We are defined by what we are for, rather than defined by what we are against” says Mr Cameron. This is a stupid argument considering that the majority of the ten commandments are couched in negative terms so that the boundaries God’s law sets are very clearly defined.

Once you start being pro this or that the boundaries become ill-defined. That’s why it’s daft to say you are pro-life instead of saying you are anti- abortion. You wind up arguing for the life of murderers. And it’s exactly why Mr Cameron has got himself into trouble. He is pro the sodomite lifestyle when the Bible is adamantly against it, so he cannot convincingly argue that he is pro-the Bible. He says he is pro-tolerance and winds up intolerant.

His problem is that he is trying to serve two masters which Jesus Himself said cannot be done. He makes contradictory statements like: “we are a Christian country. And we should not be afraid to say so. Let me be clear: I am not in any way saying that to have another faith – or no faith – is somehow wrong.” AND “I believe these are values people of any faith, or no faith, can also share in, and admire.” But Jesus said: “I am THE way, THE truth and THE life: no one comes to the Father EXCEPT by Me.” You cannot be an atheist AND a Christian, you cannot be a Hindu or a Muslim or a Sikh AND a Christian. The God of the Bible, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, will not tolerate ANY god being put before Him.

So our civil government needs to be called to account. While they continue in their wicked ways the best way of praying for them is to pray AGAINST those who abuse their God-given authority – pray that God will destroy them. He can destroy the wicked in two ways. He can either grant them repentance, in which case they will cease behaving wickedly, or He can ruin and kill them.

  6. I believe that the Prime Minister is saying nice things about Christianity in order to produce some sort of cover up. I guess that he is trying to catch Christians off their guard, by saying nice things to their faces, and to make them feel comfortable and relaxed, as though he were on their side. The problem is that at the same time he is digging the knife into their backs. This government is basically as militantly secularist as the last, and the letter that I have just received from my MP proves the point. What Christian government would legalise same sex marriage as well as wanting to deregulate Sunday trading? Never trust a politician!!

  7. It seems to me Stephen, that the ungodly are out in force to have a go at you this Easter. They love to read the old testament especially Leviticus to try and justify their lifestyle but if they really do believe that the society they defend is something to be proud of, then they are more pathetic than they sound.
In the end they will be the authors of their own destruction because if they do succeed in pushing a loving and forgiving faith such as Christianity to the margins of society. There is a far more aggresive religion waiting to fill any vacuum that may appear, one that will not tolerate the likes of Dave and Ian or their lifestyles.

  8. @Ian I find your comments very interesting The majority of abortions in this country are carried out not because someone has been raped but mainly because the child is not wanted after being conceived, more often than not, as a result of a drunken fling or without too much thought put into the process. If you really do not want a child, it is possible to ensure that you are careful enough not to make one. That is the first point, however, due to the ease with which abortion/morning after pills are available, too few woman take the care needed to protect themselves, not just from an unwanted pregnancy but the risk of STDs which could stop her having a much wanted child at a later stage in her life. Even without a Christian viewpoint, it should be possible to see that there is great benefit in behaving in a chaste manner until you wish to actually have a baby. This saves you from a great deal of suffering and anguish. It is interesting to me that you are also rather rude about ancient irrelevant scrolls. That is your opinion, to which you are entitled, but the fact is that God’s Word endures for ever and is always relevant whether you agree with that or not.

You also talk about whipping up into a frenzy of hatred. I believe that the frenzy of hatred is more often than not directed towards Christians who are upholding their conscience. For example, I believe that fornication and homosexuality are wrong because the Bible says so and God is unchanging, unlike society’s ideas which are based on how someone feels and what the current mood is that prevails and the law can be changed to accommodate that. God’s word, however, is unchanging and will endure even after time has ended. Also, I do not deny you the right or anyone else the right to live that lifestyle or any other lifestyle that they may choose. I do not run around trying to destroy the livelihoods of people involved in those types of lifestyles. However, last time I looked, we lived in a country with free speech which should allow me to express the Bible’s point of view without those who are engaging in that lifestyle getting themselves in a lather and accusing me of hate speech and homophobia. It is a documented fact that homosexuals have targeted Christian Guest houses just so that they can then accuse the guest house of being homophobic and getting them closed down. This is true hate. Why would a homosexual even wish to stay in a Christian guest house when they think we are so bigoted? No other reason than they are, in fact, what they accuse us of – full of hatred. There are many Guest Houses that are happy to accommodate same sex partners and therefore there is no need to target Christian Guest Houses. So please do not accuse us of what you are doing yourself. I have no hatred towards anyone whose views are different to my own but I do think that the new tolerance is an intolerance to anyone who disagrees with this very vocal minority’s viewpoint. With reference to slaves, just because someone calls themselves a Christian it does not necessarily mean they are. It is easy to say you are but the Bible says that “by their fruit you shall know them”. Therefore people who display behaviour which is totally against what the Bible teaches are not upholding what they say they are. Therefore, anyone who was happy to keep slaves in opposition to the Bible’s instructions is not a Christian in the true sense of the word. Also if you take texts out of context they become a pretext, so unless you read the Bible as a whole then you do not know the whole truth of God’s opinion on slaves. It is very dangerous to take quotes out of context, so unless you know and understand the whole thing it is rather foolish to just put up a quote like the one above.

  9. Some weeks past, I felt moved to pray for David Cameron, and have been doing so at around 1 am every morning. I also pray for the members of his cabinet, and the SNP leaders. “Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the Lord, nor the judgment of their God.” Jeremiah 5.4.

An event approaches, the appointing of a new archbishop. The PM has a main part to play. Anglican leaders from all over the world ought to be listened to, before he advises the Queen on Rowan Williams’ successor.
Let us pray that the choice will be a man full of faith, wisdom, and the Holy Ghost. (Acts 6.3-5). His successor should be chosen after prayer and fasting (Acts 13.2-3).

Great Britain is being assaulted on all sides, like the city of Jerusalem, in Nehemiah’s time. (Neh.2.3). We have dealt very corruptly, and not kept God’s commandments. We are under attack by:
    1. Decades of liberal, unbiblical theology, taught in our churches and schools.
    2. Waves of new arrivals, while welcome, have not assimilated into our religion, culture, and often language.
    3. Laws which for centuries kept our people on the right track going back to Alfred the Great, who read his Bible, have been altered and abandoned, eg witchcraft, sodomy, divorce, euthanasia, abortion, etc.

Like the Medean king Artaxerxes, Cameron is in a position to be catalyst for the world’s good. If he can shake off his dodgy associations with leaders of the press, and trust God, he will do better, and he will be listened to by America and by Europe. His precarious political future is the reason for my concern in prayer. Eton is a school which calls itself a Christian school. He must have a firm foundation somewhere close to him. JFiggis

  10. It is difficult to talk about David Cameron without being insulting. He is a hypocrite. He is an empty vessel. He does one thing with his right hand and then does exactly the opposite with his left. He proclaims Britain to be a Christian nation, yet everything he does is anti-Christian. His government is opposing Christians in the European Court of Human Rights, yet at the same time he is ordering his Ministers to attend Hindu and Muslim religious festivals. I despise the man.

  11. Firstly to Ian. Sadly you are one of those people who read the scriptures to find fault possibly and I say possibly because I don’t know you personally, to justify yourself. However in regard to your comments on stoning homosexuals etc etc. Those laws do not apply now for a very simple reason. Jesus came and took the punishment in our and place and carries our guilt. He took the stoning, And opened a door whereby they do not have to continue in that lifestyle because He is the power to overcome. Before you respond to that please know of a certainty that there are many who testify to that truth and are living witness to it. I am certain that you must know the name Lister.. This man read and lived by that “ancient” book and because of it discovered why thousands where dying in hospitals when there was no need. He read the laws of cleanliness and sanitation and applied those laws to sterilisation of hospitals which are still used today and saved thousands of lives. If you read those laws in the context of the numbers and lack of sanitation at the time then common sense must prevail. A true believer does not create hatred towards homosexuals rather they know that their eternal life is at risk and out of love endeavour to make them aware. Men like David Cameron on the other hand see the numbers of votes thay can muster! If indeed he did read his Bible he would see that he as a believer is to reprove the works of darkness not sustain them for his own personal gain and power. He is a coward and a hypocrite. “He that ruleth over men must be just ruling in the fear of God” 2 Sam 23:3 David Cameron ” Has a form of godliness, but denies the power thereof” the council given , “from such turn away” 2 Tim 3 : 5
What sadden me more than anything is that he is making the word of God of none effect in the eyes of the people and is destroying faith in that which made this nation great.
I have much I could say about David Cameron and have indeed put it to him in writing, but time and space prevent me. He is a puppet of those who would stand in the place of the Sovereign of the universe all for power and monetary gain. Because he is a blatant enemy of that Sovereign my prayer for him is this: “Let his days be few; and let another take his office” Psalms 109 : 8

  12. I agree that David Cameron is a hypocrite.
He turns a blind eye to persecution of Christians both in this country and abroad. He was all for liberation of Egypt and Libya but refuses to counter the consequences of the Christians in both countries now being massively persecuted.
He welcomes Homosexuals to no 10,and never says a word against the horror of abortion that is rife in our land.
Christianity for Cameron is a flag of convenience. One that he will change should it be necessary for him to achieve more votes.
    Utterly horrible.

  13. Does Mr Cameron really ‘welcome a fightback from Christians’? One would have thought he has annoyed enough sections of society recently without having to reap the whirlwind he himself sowed when he announced his intention to introduce same-sex marrriage. In trying to re-package the Conservative Party as ‘modern’ and ‘relevant’ he has not only strengthened support for traditional marriage but made himself look badly out of touch.

  14. I too am furious with DC for trying to introduce same-sex marriages especially when all the faiths are against him. Does he have no regard that he is only a politician and they are the experts in matters of faith? Also the thought that this government will probably try to lengthen the hours of Sunday trading is dismal.
I feel that Christians had hope when DC entered Downing St and it’s hard to believe that this government are bringing in so many anti-Christian ideas. I do not feel that I could vote for him again but who is there left to vote for as they are all anti-Christian?

  15. You will find that many politicians not just DC are playing both sides against the middle. Part of their role is to appeal to a ‘broad church’, so that they can get to a wide range of the electorate as possible to vote for them – a sort of man for all seasons, as it were. Remember for them, its a game about staying in power, very little else. If you follow the trends the same things have been happening in the US and Europe. Its called Globalisation, and harmonisation; little to do with what the man on the street want, and all about fitting in with the ‘Programme’ – of course THEY may not know, or care to know it. The reason they are implementing laws which seems like political suicide is because they have to; if they dont they will soon be replaced by someone else who will. This is why there is little to seperate any of the main parties. But I digress: Jesus is accutely aware of anyone who only pays ‘lip-service’ to him and doesnt actually believe in him, and thats ok because one day, they will have to give an ACCOUNT of their own leadership and actions, as will we all before an Almighthy and Holy God – and to whom much is given, much is required.

  16. Sorry Wendy but you can’t argue the Sunday thing as it is not scriptural and you don’t have a leg to stand on.
The Sovereign of the uninverse commands the 7th day not the 1st. So he can do that and he knows it. It is those who hold up the scriptures as their standard and who are disobeying the Creator who will be held accountable on that account. We can’t rage at his blatant disregard for the word and be in violation of that same word.
It was that point on which Luther fell before the Bishops when he held up the scriptures as his standard. They said ” If it is the Bible and the Bible alone on which you stand why do you worship on the day we sanctified and not the Sabbath of the scriptures”?

  17. Dear Christian Voice

Today’s Daily Mail describes David Cameron’s attempt at redefining marriage as “this obscene insult to society’s fundamental institution” at last people are beginning to tell the truth about what Mr Cameron and Ms Featherstone as this Godless liberal, currently governing, elite are doing. Praise God.

Pink News on 4th April was encouraging “Members of the gay and transgender community to fill in the consultation on how to introduce marriage equality online through the Home Office website between now and 14 June” (http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/publications/about-us/consultations/equal-civil-marriage/) maybe as Godfearing bible believing Christians we should be doing the same ?

In Christ and in his service
    Naomi

  18. Not overly impressed! Like the comment already been made, he is playing both ends against the middle. However, unfortunately, he is only re-iterating what several church leaders are saying about same sex marriage, incl;uding the Bishop of Salisbury, so one cannot but be a little sceptical about our own role as a church in this regard. And this is where my own ire is first directed: the church and its leadership. Or, should i say: lack of leadership. It is no wonder that politicians are coming out with such garbage as they lack the real guidance is such matters that the church should be offering but is not. I once challaneged a member of the URC clergy about alternative sexual practises and the church’s attitude, etc. He said very clearly: the problem is with the theological colleges. This is where all the wrongthinking is taught. It therefore seems to me that the established denomiational church is merely an ecclesiatical nonentity that is neither use nor ormanent, and certainly not fit for purpose any more. Its failure is the number one reason why we inthe Uk are in such a parlous condition ehtically, morally and spiritually.

  19. Exactly. What can be said when there are “Married” homosexual Bishops and Ministers , Rabbi’s (of all things ) etc etc. The “church ” today is not representitive of Elohim Creator of all things GOOD.
It would please me greatly to hear believers refrain from using the word “GAY” it is not gay it is, Homosexual, Lesbian, Perversion. The word gay is used to make it socially acceptable !!
If a Minister of a church even hints that it is acceptable to be Homosexual the whole assembly of believers should walk out and worship elsewhere. Birds of a feather flock together !
We must always remember that Y’shua gave His life for Homosexuals etc as He did for us and that the important issue is their Eternal life that is the ONLY issue. We must also remember that ALL sin is equal in Elohim’s eyes and so must never point the finger in hatred or distain because when we do we have 3 fingers pointing back at ourselves !!
Remember too that Politicians are but men “what have to fear, what can man do unto us” Hebrews 13:4-6, But only if we are faithful to His word.

  20. I think we should be praying for David Cameron. I have written to him several times about the secret family courts, and the Pindown child abuse scandal. I have sometimes felt really angry about David Cameron not seeming to care about institutional child abuse and injustice, but I expect he does care, it must be really difficult to know what to do. I know that some really bad people have managed to lobby him, and I don’t expect he had any idea that in 2002 some really bad people were involved in a scheme to try to stop the police investigating institutional child abuse, and they were in a Government consultation with him. I expect he is surrounded by some really bad liars and schemers most of the time. He’s a man, not a Superhero, and I am really really glad that he has at least acknowledged his need for God. We have to pray for him, and I hope no-one minds me just leaving a prayer here:

    Dear Lord Jesus,

Please can you help David Cameron to be a good leader? Please can you show him what you would like him to do? Please can you look after his health and his wife and children, and keep their love strong? Please can you forgive him for his shortcomings, and for the foolish things he has said and done? Please can you give him such a strong hunger and thirst for righteousness?

Thank you for hearing my prayer Lord Jesus, love Barbara xx

  21. It’s a start by David Cameron, but sadly in a UK society where the rich get vastly richer in money terms and materially daily and the poor get poorer day by day, David Cameron is a long way from Jesus’s teaching and the society of early Christians where they pooled all of their belongings for the common good.

Our wealth is in Christian love and Christian Fellowship and in the promise of the coming of God’s Kingdom and Jesus’ eternal rule, and life everlasting.

There are good Christians who do and are doing all they can to help other Christians prosper, but as employers they are in a small minority, and while doing all they can in good and prayerful works, in larger companies and corporations they are often completely outvoted by the non-Christians and agnostics.

David Cameron needs to wake up to the fact that many poor people in the UK cannot even afford the most basic necessities, and transport whether by private means by car or by public transport is horrendously expensive, especially for long distance travel, with the UK now having the most expensive petrol in the world pushing up costs and expenses. The UK is now the most expensive country in Europe to live in, being more expensive to live than even Switzerland.

We need true Christians in high places in companies and government across the land here in Britain, as never before.

But at the moment David Cameron is far from being a good Christian leader. His review body for housing benefit cuts has said many more disabled people will become homeless as a result.
