Christians Stand by Parents at Leytonstone School

Christians are supporting parents at a primary school in Leytonstone which last month subjected children to homosexual propaganda.

Around 30 parents kept their children off school when George Tomlinson primary school in Vernon Road, Leytonstone, used books promoting homosexuality in February, which homosexual activists have decided is ‘Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender History Month.’

Christian Voice members gave out leaflets entitled ‘Say no to school sexual abuse’ to parents at the school gate this morning. The leaflets explained how ‘relationships’ teaching promoting homosexuality can damage children and increase playground bullying. They urged parents to protect their children from damaging influences.

Christian Voice also pledged in the leaflets to support any parents who are taken to court for keeping their children away from school, and promised to help with setting up meetings.

There was huge support for the Christians from the parents, who at times were queuing up for leaflets. Only a small group of well-spoken white parents took issue with the exercise, claiming it was inappropriate.

The school head was also angry that Christians should come and support parents, and called the police. However, the police decided it was wise not to interfere with the freedom of speech and freedom of assembly of those giving out the leaflets.

Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice said afterwards: ‘It ws good to make contact with parents who are deeply concerned that their children are at risk of sexual abuse in school. We shall be building on the contacts made to raise more awareness of a problem which appears to be growing in our schools.

‘With compulsory sex education gathering pace, and homosexuality being promoted in the classroom, parents will need to be on their guard. They have a God-given duty to protect their children from harm. We shall do all we can to help them.’

Parents revolt over gay lessons at George Tomlinson School in Waltham Forest

Parents have taken their children out of school rather than allow them to face a week of homosexual propaganda.
The parents, many of them Muslims, may now be taken to court for truancy after governors at George Tomlinson Primary School in Waltham Forest, East London, decided to include material promoting homosexual partnerships. More than 30 children were kept away from books such as King and King, in which a prince ‘marries’ another prince and Tango Makes Three about homosexual penguins.
A Christian website reports spot fines, the imposition of parenting contracts and court action could follow any breach of rules which limit that absence to 19 days a year.
Pervez Latif, 41, whose children Saleh, ten, and Abdur-Rahim, nine, attend the school, said Christian and Muslim parents objected to ‘Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender History Month’.
‘We as parents did not receive any guidance that this was going to happen,’ he told reporterers. ‘There was just a newsletter mentioning the week and that certain themes would be taught.
‘I didn’t want my children to be learning about this. I wrote a letter to the chairman of the governors explaining that I would be taking my children out of school and he wrote back saying that there was no other option.
‘If I am faced with court action, then I will just explain that these are my views. It was also very difficult explaining to my nine- and ten-year-old boys why they were being removed from school.
‘I found it difficult to explain topics such as homosexual relationships at such a young age.’
Sarah Saeed, 40, took her eight-year-old daughter out of school during the week.
She said: ‘It is not an appropriate age for the children to be learning such matters. We have our own way of explaining things to them and they should not be subjected to this.
‘I was aware they were going to be learning about homosexual relationships through stories.
‘If the council takes action against me I will tell them that I told the school beforehand I would be taking my child away if they did not change their policy.
‘She has a 100 per cent attendance record otherwise. This is the only time and this is the only choice I had.’
Parents have the legal right to withdraw their children from religious education and sex education lessons – apart from science lessons in which biological reproduction forms part of the national curriculum.
A spokesman for Waltham Forest Council said: ‘As part of the borough’s policy of promoting tolerance in our schools, children are taught that everyone in our society is of equal value.
‘At George Tomlinson, parents were invited to meet with teachers and governors several weeks ago to discuss what work would be taking place throughout the national LGBT History Month and how this work would be delivered.
‘Regrettably, some parents chose to remove their children from school. The council does not condone any unauthorised absence from school and action has been taken.’ The children will be regarded as truants.
Norman Wells, director of the Family Education Trust, said: ‘It is a fundamental principle of education law that children must be educated in accordance with the wishes of their parents.
‘It is outrageous for a school or local authority to think it can ride roughshod over parents and impose lessons upon children that arouse such widespread concerns.
‘The only action that needs to be taken is to offer an apology to the parents concerned.’
Teachers at one secondary school in the arae have launched a homosexual version of Romeo and Juliet called Romeo and Julian.

PRAY: Thank God that there are parents who know that children are their responsibility to bring up, not the State’s to corrupt by the imposition of secularist views. May Christian parents be just as forthright as the Muslims when it happens in their children’s school. Pray for LEA church schools to resist homosexual propaganda in ‘relationships education’, pray for independent Christian schools to remain free of Government interference, and pray for home-schooling parents you know.

Kent Police ‘Undermining Families’ in Gay Essay Stunt

A national Police Force is today accused of undermining families by inviting children as young as twelve to write an essay on homosexuality behind their parents’ backs.

Kent Police are holding a competition for secondary school children – even under 14s – to write with the title ‘All Different, Same Respect’ about what ‘Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Month’ ‘means to them’, with a £25 prize.

The stunt is timed to coincide with Kent County Council’s sponsorship of February as ‘LGBT month’. The three age categories are 18+, 15-17, and under 14. The age of consent for sex is 16.

Kent Police Deputy Chief Constable Adrian Leppard said: ‘As part of the national Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) history month we have run a competition for local secondary students to write a short essay of up to 200 words or use pictures to explain what “All different, same respect” means to them. This competition compliments (he means ‘complements’ – CV) work already being done in schools around diversity, through the national curriculum.’

Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said today:

‘We have sadly grown used to sex educators trying to corrupt children, but now the police are doing it as well. There is no suggestion on the Kent Police website that the young children they are asking to enter should seek their parents’ approval. It is all being done behind the parents’ backs. And as a large number will be under the age of consent, some as young as 12, it is a monstrous exercise in nothing less than child sexual abuse.

‘Children of that age do not need to be told that homosexuality is acceptable. Some may be going through a phase where they experience crushes towards older people of the same sex. To convince them that such desires indicate an adult homosexual orientation is a disgraceful betrayal of adult responsibility, made even worse when it is authority figures such as the police doing it.

‘Parents should also demand to know what exactly is “being done” in their child’s school “around diversity”, as the national curriculum makes no provision for the promotion of homosexuality. Parents also have the right to withdraw their children from sex education, another technicality which the police are blithely ignoring.

‘If a choir master or scout leader or any other adult in a position of trust managed to persuade a child to write an essay praising positive attitudes to homosexuality, he would be accused of grooming that child for sex. So why are the police involved in it, and why are they subverting family life in such a way? There is only one word to describe them, and that is “evil”.

‘Kent Chief Constable Michael Fuller needs to reflect on the words of Jesus Christ, that it is better for a man to have a millstone hung around his neck and be thrown into the sea than to cause a child to sin.

‘The competition might be headed “All Different, Same Respect”, but I have no respect for police officers who wish to corrupt young children by insinuating into them the idea that there is nothing wrong with homosexuality. I spent part of this morning mucking out a cattle yard. It brought home to me that a man who indulges in sodomy cannot be paddling with both oars in the water.

‘Such men need compassion, help and deliverance from their destructive lifestyle, not more recruits. Figures released last year showed that the number of sex offenders was on the increase. Is that any surprise, with the police encouraging children into homosexuality?

”This nation desperately needs to turn away from doing evil and start doing good. It is as if Satan has taken hold of all the levers of power in what was once a God-fearing nation. May God grant the grace to allow us to repent, and may He raise up Christian men to engage in what is now, undeniably, a full-scale spiritual war.’

Social Services Prefer Gays to Grandparents

The decision by Edinburgh Social Services to take two small children from their grandparents and have them adopted by a pair of homosexuals was today criticised by Christian Voice.

The children, a boy aged five and his sister, who is four, were being looked after by their grandparents because their mother is a recovering drug-addict. Social Services have been accusing of waging a two-year war against the couple, who only gave up when their money ran out and they could no longer defend themselves and their grandchildren in court.

When he protested about the adoption by two homosexual men, the grandfather reports he was told, ‘You can either accept it and there’s a chance you’ll see the children twice a year, or you can take that stance and never see them again.’

He also told, he says, ‘If you were having contact and couldn’t support the children, and showing negative feelings, it wouldn’t be in their best interest for contact to take place.’

Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said today:

‘This heart-rending story illustrates all that is wrong with social services and with homosexual rights. In any other age or society, grandparents would be the natural people to step in and raise their children’s children. Their age would be irrelevant; it would be the closeness of the family tie that would be the defining factor.

‘But in these days of adoption targets, leaving the children with their grandparents could cost City of Edinburgh Council thousands of pounds. Anti-discrimination legislation will result in a culture among social workers more favourable to homosexuals as prospective adopters.

‘Edinburgh Social Services are apparently claiming the couple are about to drop dead, but he is only 59, and his angina need not be terminal, whilst the grandmother is only 46, and her diabetes is sure to be highly manageable. It may also be that a working-class farmhand is viewed with suspicion by white-collar social workers, or is seen as less articulate and less financially well-off than a pair of gays.

‘But money isn’t everything, and there are a number of reasons why children should not be placed with homosexuals, which would mandate an immediate reversal of the law in any reasonable, open-minded nation:

‘There is a risk that one or both of a pair of homosexuals may have an unhealthy interest in a child, especially a boy. Homosexuals are statistically highly over-represented in child sexual abuse cases,

‘Children placed with gays will have to endure playground taunts,

‘Children need a mother and a father to grow up confidently relating to both sexes,

‘They will be socially-engineered in that environment to view the homosexual lifestyle, with all its effeminacy, contempt for heterosexuality, promiscuity and reliance on pornography, as normal,

‘The inherent short-lived nature of homosexual relationships puts the children at risk of another upheaval in their lives in the near future.

‘Social Services talk about the “best interests of the children”, but it is their interests and the interests of political correctness they are more worried about. It will rarely be in the best interests of children to be ripped from a loving, competent family and it will never be in their best interests to be placed with a pair of homosexuals rather than a heterosexual couple.

‘It is hard to avoid the adjective “evil” when discussing a case of this kind, or when reading about the kind of conduct these social workers have employed. Our prayers must be with the children, for protection against harm, for their mother and their grandparents, who have had a great injustice done to them and been betrayed by those who should have helped them.’

Infertility Will Rise With Compulsory Sex Education

In fertility amongst the young will rise as a result of the decision by the Government to make sex education compulsory in all schools, a Christian group has said.

Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said today:

‘There seems to be an assumption that children are powerless in the face of their emotions to stop having sex, but that at the height of passion they can be trusted to carry out contraceptive procedures.  The evidence actually shows the opposite.

‘All sex education encourages experimentation, and schools are effectively corrupting children behind their parents’ backs, interfering with children’s natural modesty, grooming them for sex. If any teacher starts telling seven-year-olds about sex, or telling adolescents that there is nothing wrong with sodomy, parents ought to be down at that school, demanding that teacher be sacked.

‘Peculiar people in Government and the teen sex industry seem to like the idea of children fornicating, so much so that they do nothing to support the majority of young people who are not sexually active.

‘Sex education should be done in the family, and should concentrate on building a lifestyle of chastity – in other words, encouraging virginity in both sexes. That is not the same as abstinence, which carries connotations of giving up chocolate for Lent. Chastity is a lifestyle attitude.

‘Teenage pregnancy has risen as sex education and the distribution of condoms have gathered pace. The morning-after abortion pill depressed the figures slightly, but the underlying trend is still there as the latest abortion figures show.

‘But a bigger problem is now teenage infertility. Doctors know that condoms do not 100% stop sexually-transmitted infections, yet teen sex experts are still pretending they do. It is common sense that a condom only covers part of one part of the anatomy, while the most worrying STI’s are skin-borne or carried both ways by vaginal secretions. That is why genital warts are on the rise, and both sexes have those for life.

‘Now with the HPV vaccine, girls will think they are covered against everything if they are on the pill as well, so there will be even more Gonorrhoea and Chlamydia cases and even more infertility. But as all the Government targets revolve around pregnancy, no-one in the corridors of power cares how many kids become infertile. Indeed, if that stops them getting pregnant, they might even welcome it.

‘Government and the teen sex industry are betraying young people in this country. They should get prepared for a new rise in teenage pregnancies and infertility as a result of today’s decision. As for individual young people, the message is stark in today’s climate, where 10% have had STIs which lead to infertility and chronic conditions. If you want to have children, and if you don’t want an unpleasant wedding present, stay a virgin, and marry a virgin.’

Scouts Accused of ‘Grooming’ Children

The Scout Association was today accused by a Christian group of harming the children in its care by grooming them for sex.

Christian Voice said the Association’s advice, ‘Promoting good sexual health within Scouting’, was ‘bleak’ and a travesty of the original aims of the Scouting Association. The group is urging a complete rethink by the Association, whose patron is Her Majesty the Queen.

Boys and girls barely out of their cub scout units could be referred under the guidance to sex clinics where they would be given condoms. Simon Carter, head of media at the Scouts, refused to give Christian Voice a lower age limit for the children who could be so advised. In a statement, Chief Scout Peter Duncan said: ‘We must realistic and accept that around one-third of young people are sexually active before 16.’

Incredibly, the Scouting Association expects scout leaders to take time out from their traditional activities to research the contact details of local contraceptive services and sexual health (VD or STD) clinics. Scout leaders are advised to meet up with Government teen sex activists and to know where scouts and their girlfriends can find supplies of the abortifacient morning-after pill and pregnancy testing.

‘If asked,’ it says, ‘you should try to provide details of local emergency contraception provision, which you can obtain from the local Teenage Pregnancy Coordinator.’

The factsheet ‘Promoting good sexual health within Scouting’ even suggests taking a unit of Explorer Scouts (aged 14-18) down to the local Venereal Disease clinic. There is ‘no need’ to seek written parental consent, it says, blithely, advising leaders simply to tell the Scouts’ parents or carers that it is going to happen.

In a reference to the Fraser Guidelines, the guidance says ‘an adult in Scouting may give advice without the parents’ knowledge and consent’ if ‘the adult cannot persuade the young person to inform his or her parents.’ Then in a Q&A section, which clearly betrays the fear of the Scouting HQ that Scout leaders will be less than happy with the guidance, the guidance says ‘many young people will want to talk to someone who is not their teacher or parent. Sometimes an adult in Scouting will be the easiest person to approach.’

Church-based scout groups are told not to let their faith get in the way of sending children to anti-Christian agencies such at the fpa and Brook Advisory for information. ‘Religion,’ the Scouting Association Fact Sheet says, ‘should not be a barrier to providing appropriate advice’. Scout leaders may also ride roughshod over the children’s religious beliefs, including those of Christians and the Muslim girls featured heavily on the Scout website. While lip service is paid to ‘respect’ for ‘everyone’s religion and cultural beliefs’, ‘all young people are entitled to appropriate advice and information,’ it says.

A web-page on the scouting web-site (www.scouts.org.uk/shis ) shows that part of that ‘appropriate advice and information’ is where to get an abortion, with weblinks to both Marie Stopes and British Pregnancy Advisory Service, the ‘big two’ abortion providers in Great Britain. Links are also given to the Terrene Higgins Trust, which promotes homosexuality, and to websites claiming that condoms protect against all sexually-transmitted diseases funded either by the Government or contraceptive providers.

Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said today:

‘We have sadly grown used to schools corrupting children behind their parents’ backs, but now scout leaders are coming under pressure to do it as well. While Peter Duncan throws up his hands despairingly about the one-third of children he claims are sexually active, he is doing nothing to support the two-thirds who aren’t.

‘The Scouts have traditionally emphasised good works and the health benefits of an outdoor life. By encouraging premature sex, they are putting all of that at risk.

‘Scout leaders should be teaching boys the virtues of chastity and chivalry, emphasising self-control and self-respect, showing them the value of caring for themselves and for others and of having respect for young women. Girls in the Scouts need to hear about the virtue of modesty and the value of their virginity.

‘Instead, Scout leaders are going to send boys along to sex clinics and shove their pregnant girlfriends into the grasping clutches of abortionists. By promoting the condom culture, they will make it inevitable that the current rates of teenage pregnancy, abortion, sexual-transmitted disease and consequent infertility amongst the young will increase. On top of that, they are preparing boys for sexual advances from predatory homosexuals including some who may be drawn to positions in the scout movement itself. Their advice falls little short of grooming children for sex.  “Be prepared” never included that.

‘Ironically, the Scout Movement may well do what its Child Protection Policy specifically rules against, by exposing the young people in its care to all the physical, sexual and emotional harm associated with illicit sexual activity. Such harm can range from feelings of inadequacy that he or she is not sexually active to pregnancy, the emotional scars of abortion, and the contracting of sexually-transmitted diseases, chronic conditions such as genital warts and those which result in infertility which condoms are powerless to prevent.

‘Young people deserve better than this bleak assumption that they are no better than farmyard animals. The Scouting hierarchy appear to have stumbled on the challenge of the teenage sex problem, and like rabbits caught in the headlights, the only people they thought of approaching were those in the teen sex industry who have a vested interest in keeping young people sexually active. They should have spoken to pro-life and pro-family groups as well. But their inexperience in this field does not excuse them. A word from the Lord about millstones around necks comes to mind. They should revise their advice drastically. In the meantime, Christians involved in scouting, churches associated with scout groups and parents should make very clear their complete opposition to these disgraceful developments.’

Last year the Girl Guides started a similar programme called ‘Get Wise’ to teach about ‘sexual health’. The programme appears to have sunk into embarrassed obscurity, but the organisation’s website has a page called ‘fit for life’ which promotes new age treatments such as aromatherapy, colour therapy (whatever that might be) and yoga. Unlike the Scouts, there are no links to abortionists, although there is one weblink to the fpa and another to a Government url astonishingly called ‘www.playingsafely.co.uk’, as if sex is just an adolescent recreational activity. The link is redirected straight to a suggestive NHS website called condomessentialwear.co.uk.

The Scouting Association advice comes as figures show the number of sex offenders is on the increase.

The Families in Your Church May Not Be Safe

The Church of England building

Churches should be aware of the threat posed by social workers steeling children from their parents, Christian Voice has warned.

Secret family courts continue to forcibly remove hundreds of children from their parents throughout the UK every year. The children are then put up for adoption and prevented from seeing their biological parents, many of whom have not committed any abuse.

Last June Christian Voice reported on a number of cases of children being ‘freed for adoption’ in order to meet targets.

Freeing for adoption was first introduced in England and Wales under the Adoption Act 1976, following the Report of the Departmental Committee on the Adoption of Children chaired by Sir William Houghton in 1972. The Children Act 2004 later established secret family courts to oversee the removal of children from their birth parents.  These courts use contempt of court laws to prevent parents going public with their stories.

In addition to the thousands of children removed from their parents every year, the family courts also send parents to prison for contempt of court because of breaching a contact order. A Parliamentary question last year revealed that the judges in family courts regularly send more than 200 people a year to prison, in strict secrecy with no public hearing at all.

SECRET COURTS

The secrecy of the family courts means that if an MP does his democratic duty to check out a constituents’ heart-rending tale of social service child-snatching, he will be held in contempt of court, as would the parent approaching their MP for help.  Nick Cohen reported in the Observer that in one case a judge’s ruling ‘meant that it was a contempt of court to tell the solicitor general, who is responsible for the honest functioning of the legal system, and the Minister for Children, who is responsible for the welfare of children, about an alleged miscarriage of justice involving a child.’

The secret courts also prevent parents who are accused of abuse from calling in witnesses in their defence. Parents who are unable to afford a lawyer, or who are refused legal aid, are prevented from asking a lay adviser to help.

Ian Joseph, Ex-Kent County Councillor and author of the book Forced Adoptions, reported on his website that, ‘A couple I helped recently had their baby removed the same day it was born!  The distraught mother was told that she was blameless, but that her partner, the baby’s father, some years previously had been accused by his ex-wife of violence towards her in a custody dispute.  No charges were ever brought by anyone but this unproved accusation was enough for the horrified mother to see her baby taken by social services with a view to adopts.  After several court cases a second baby was born and threatened with the same fate…’

Official figures show that in 100 cases, low family income was the main justification for removing children from their parents. Newspapers have also reported on cases where social services targeted children because the parents are were ‘not clever enough.’ In some cases, a mother’s ‘troubled childhood’ has been used as evidence that her children should be removed.

In 21% of all cases where a child needs protection, the reason is allegedly because of ‘emotional abuse.’ While emotional abuse is on the rise (in 1997 it only accounted for 14% of cases), no one quite understands what it actually means. According to the Enfield local authority, emotional abuse includes ‘swearing’, ‘conditional love’ or ‘discriminatory remarks’. The Nottingham council defines it as ‘an ingrained pattern of interaction . . . which it is essential to observe and understand over time’. ‘Right now, it looks as though around 6,000 people stand accused of abuse, or potential abuse, that no lawyer can even define’ complained Camilla Cavendish in The Times.

‘From the time’ wrote Sue Reid in the Daily Mail, ‘a child is named on a social services care order until the day they are adopted, the parents are breaking the law – a crime punishable by imprisonment – if they tell anyone what is happening to their family. Anything from a chat with a neighbour to a letter sent to a friend can land them in jail.’

PRAY:  Pray for the numerous families being torn apart to satisfy Government’s adoption targets.  Pray this issue remains high profile in the media, despite all the social services and secret courts are doing to keep it quiet.

WRITE: to your MP and make any of the following points

  • The family courts should be opened up to trial by jury.
  • The laws should be changed to remove the gag currently placed on parents who have suffered in the family courts. Only the workings of the homeland security service, MI5, are guarded more closely than those of the family courts. As High Court judge Mr Justice Munby told MPs last year: ‘It seems quite indefensible that there should be no access by the media, and no access by the public, to what is going on in courts where judges are, day by day, taking people’s children away.’ In any organ of a democratic society, transparency not secrecy is the key to positive reform.
  • Social workers should stop targeting parents with learning difficulties. According to a BBC News report, ‘It is increasingly common for people with learning difficulties to have children.  However, researchers found that in 50% of cases [where parents had learning difficulties] children were being taken from their natural parents.’
  • The family courts should no longer allow alleged cases of ‘Manchausen’s Syndrome by Proxy’ to count as evidence against a parent. The controversial disorder allegedly compels mothers to make up illnesses in her child, or even to purposely harm him to attract attention to herself.  MSBP was first ‘discovered’ by Professor Sir. Roy Meadow, a controversial paediatrician who was later struck off the medical register for giving ‘misleading and incorrect’ testimony in the case of Sally Clark, a mother wrongly jailed for killing her two infant sons. Professor Meadow was found guilty of serious professional misconduct. However, Dr. Meadow’s scientifically unproved theory continues to be the basis by which scores of mothers have been sent to prison while hundreds more have had their children removed for adoption. Some doctors question whether the syndrome even exists. Nick Cohen wrote in the Observer, that ‘One case [of alleged ‘Manchausen’s Syndrome by Proxy’] involved a couple in Essex who had taken the baby to hospital because of a bump on his head. They were accused of attacking him. They managed to find medical evidence which proved their innocence, but it was too late: the boy had been adopted. No appeal. No redress. The child was lost.’

ADVICE FOR CHURCHES

  • Churches should be aware that if they call or alert social services to a problem in a family, the parents are very likely to lose their children and any future children as a result.  Criminal activity should be reported to the police, but for anything else, consider how you can best support the family within the church.
  • If children within your church are targeted by social workers:
  • Urge the parents contact Christian Voice immediately.  We can put them in touch with others who have been down this road and won and who are only too happy to offer advice to those in a similar plight.
  • If parents within your church are asked to take their children to the hospital for a ‘checkup’ on Friday afternoon, never agree.  Social workers arrange that intentionally to keep the parents waiting until 5 or 6 pm so they can remove the children after it is too late to seek legal help until Monday, by which time it is often too late.
  • If a family within your church has been threatened with having their children removed, the parents should teach their children to make reverse charge calls at public phone boxes and the parents should help them to memorise their phone number.  That way, if they are taken away, contact will never be lost.
  • Parents within your church should be advised to never sign any documents social workers present to them, even if the social workers say they have to.  Many people don’t realise it, but social workers have absolutely no power unless they are working specifically under a court order issued by a judge. Parents always have the opportunity to contest such orders in court either before or after they are given.
  • Parents within your church should be advised to never agree for their children to go into foster care even for a temporary period, because in the eyes of the courts this is equivalent to admitting abuse.
  • Parents within your church should be advised to never give social workers more information than the bare minimum.  They will use any information they can against the parents.  This means that parents should avoid writing letters to social workers, even when they are very upset and feel like they have to.
  • Parents within your church should be warned that if social workers ask to look at medical records, the parents should always write to their doctor and request that the records be kept strictly confidential.
  • If a family within your church is having problems with social workers, they should be advised to obtain copies of social services’ records about your child. Instructions about how to request the records can be found HERE.

Nanny State Turns Nasty

HOME SECRETARY CALLS FOR HUGE EXPANSION OF GOVERNMENT INTO FAMILY LIFE

Jacqui Smith, the Home Secretary, announced plans to identify children as young as 5 as potential criminals.

In what the Times has called ‘a huge expansion of state intervention in family life’, Ms. Smith said that parents who are not looking after their children properly should be made to sign contracts forcing them to exercise more control.

‘I believe it is about identifying families in which you are going to intervene at an early stage, where you will expect certain behaviour and if that does not happen there will be sanctions.’

WRITE: Identifying children who might become criminals or parents who might become abusive goes against one of the fundamental pillars of our judicial system: that a person is innocent until proven guilty. Ms Smith’s proposals are chilling, especially when we remember that last year Fran Lyon, a Northumberland mother, was told by social services that her first child would be taken from her within 30 minutes of birth and handed over to the local authority simply because she might harm the child after it was born. In another case, reported in the Daily Mail, one mother’s son was adopted on the grounds that there was a chance she might shout at him when he was older.

If Ms. Smith’s plans go through, we can expect to see an increase of cases where children are removed from parents on the basis of ‘risk’ rather than actual abuse. Write to your MP opposing these measures.

LICENSED TO HUG

The relationship between adults and children is becoming increasingly sullied with suspicion and fear as a result of child protection laws, a recent study has shown.

The study, conducted by the independent think-tank Civitas, found that youngsters are increasingly at risk as responsible adults are afraid to intervene and help them for fear of being labeled as pedophiles.

‘Since the establishment of the Criminal Records Bureau in 2002, more than a third of British adults have had to get a certificate to say they are safe to be near children, and the numbers affected are increasing’ warns the study. Soon a quarter of all British adults will have to pass the ‘paedophile test’ before being allowed to interact with any child except their own.

Titled ‘Licensed to Hug’, the report reveals that since 2002 the Criminal Records Bureau has conducted 15 million CRB checks, costing the taxpayer over half a billion pounds. Those who have not been certified as ‘safe’ are often afraid to comfort a toddler who fell over, intervene in a playground fight, assist a lost child or offer basic first aid to someone else’s child in a public park. The report cites the case of Cleveland coastguard Paul Waugh, who climbed down a cliff in high winds to rescue a child and then resigned after being severely reprimanded for breaching health and safety regulations.

The report cited another example of a woman who could not kiss her daughter goodbye on a school trip because she had not been vetted.

The Civitas report calls for the torrent of politically correct child protection laws, which treat every adult as a potential child-abuser, to be relaxed.

The Home Office said that from October 2009, a new Independent Safeguarding Authority would be created to tighten the rules even further. It will require any adult coming into contact with children their work or voluntary groups to be investigated.

HUNDREDS OF INNOCENT CITIZENS BRANDED CRIMINALS BY CRB ‘MISTAKE’

The Criminal Records Bureau has mistakenly identified hundreds of innocent citizens as criminals.

The CRB was set up by the Government to give background checks for people working with children.

In a damaging expose of government inefficiency, the Telegraph revealed that in the year leading up to February 2008, 680 people were issued with incorrect information after being vetting by the CRB.

‘People applying to take up jobs as teachers, nurses, childminders and even those volunteering to work with youth groups are likely to have been among those falsely accused of wrongdoing by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB)’ revealed Christopher Hope in the Daily Telegraph. Caroline Gammell reported the case of Amanda Hodgson, a 36-year-old, law-abiding mother of three, who was told that she had a ‘criminal past’’ after she applied for a post as a welfare assistant at her local primary school. ‘She was told she had a criminal record stretching back 18 years, including three convictions for assaulting police officers, and the only way to clear her name was to get her fingerprints checked against every unsolved crime in the country.’

In another case, a mother was told that she cannot take her son to school anymore until her details have been checked by the Criminal Record Bureau. Jayne Jones had been taking her 14-year-old epileptic son to school every day in a taxi, along with equipment that is required whenever he has a fit. She said: ‘It’s crazy that I have to be CRB checked before I can ride in a taxi with my own son.’

The government is currently planning a colossal expansion of the CRB, in which one in every four of the adult population in England will have to be vetted and registered on the CRB’s database.

GOVERNMENT PLANS MASSIVE SURVEILLANCE OF CHILDREN

In addition to expanding the CRB database, Government is planning to massively increase its surveillance of children, according to a report produced by the activist organizations ‘Action on Rights for Children’, ‘Liberty’, ‘Open Rights Group’ and ‘No2ID.’

Every 14-year-old child in England and Wales will be on the planned database. It will contain data on everything from the child’s exam results to difficulties within the family.

Journalist Henry Porter raised concerns about the project by pointing out that ‘by the time they all reach adulthood, the databases will have merged to give the state complete access to their most personal information. No child will be able to escape his past, or the judgment and watchfulness of the bureaucrats who may decide their destiny.’ (Read Mr. Porter’s entire article HERE)

School Sex Clinics Betray Young

The Government plan to roll out school sex clinics after a pilot in schools in Bristol . A BBC web report named three professionals with vested interests in teen sex supporting it, and one schoolgirl.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/hi/health/newsid_7446000/7446370.stm

This morning, Lutterworth Grammar School was reported as having handed out 345 morning-after pills behind parents’ backs:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1026600/

Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said today:

‘It won’t be hard to find school children who will welcome this idea, and the teen sex industry will be loving it.

‘It is both irresponsible and arrogant of schools to interfere in children’s intimate lives and to encourage them into illicit premature sexual activity.

‘The sort of peculiar people who get a buzz out of encouraging school children into adolescent sex should not be allowed anywhere near them.

‘Schools have no business bringing in sexual health workers, who don’t know the children and care about them even less, to go behind parents’ backs. There was an outcry when Melissa Smith had an abortion in Mansfield with out the knowledge of her mother, who had to pick up the pieces afterwards. Yet Melissa would not have been allowed to take a paracetamol without her mother’s say-so. How many other children are being betrayed by schools like Melissa was?

‘Studies show that teenagers are notoriously bad at using contraceptives properly. And even if they do, condoms are pathetic at preventing sexually-transmitted diseases. We shall see an increase in teenage pregnancies and abortions unless the morning-after pill gets the government out of that hole, and it is certain that more young people, boys as well as girls, will end up infertile or bearing life-long genital diseases.

‘As the Governments’ targets all centre around pregnancy, no-one in the corridors of power cares if children become infertile through diseases like Chlamydia. They may even welcome it.

‘There is a vast industry now dependent upon getting teenagers using contraceptives. There is no money in chastity. Saving sex for marriage is the one message children need to hear and the only one the Government refuses to bring.

‘It is odd the way we devote even more effort teaching children to say ‘yes’ to sex than we do to getting them to say ‘no’ to smoking and drugs.

‘This policy will leave misery in its wake.’

Piercing the Vaccination Hype

This nation is so obsessed with encouraging teenagers to be promiscuous that it clutches at any straw which appears to facilitate that.  Couple that with the corporate greed which drives the drug industry’s marketing of its pharmaceutical products and it is easy to see why the new anti-HPV vaccines, Gardasil and Cervarix, have been welcomed as the latest new dawn of a sexually-liberated day, the things which will keep our kids fornicating in safety.

The trouble is, they won’t.  Vaccines are not without danger. One health-care company offering the Gardasil vaccine also supplies the single mumps, measles and rubella vaccines, responding to parents’ legitimate concerns about MMR.  (Did Leo Blair ever have the MMR?  His dad wouldn’t say.)

And will the message that women still need to go for screening pierce the fog of hype about vaccination?  The vaccines could be spreading false hope and more promiscuity and result in more sexually-transmitted disease of all kinds and more deaths from cervical cancer, not fewer.  And that is without the safety concerns about side effects of the vaccines themselves.

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation has recommended – and the Government has accepted – that all girls should be given the jab in the first year of secondary school starting from September 2008 with a catch-up campaign to vaccinate all girls aged 12-18

The vaccine costs more than £300 for a series of three doses, more than all the other childhood vaccinations put together. By comparison, the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine costs about £12 for two doses.

The cost will be more than £100m a year for all the 12-year-old girls, and well over £500m – that’s half-a-billion pounds – to play catch-up with girls up to 18 in the first year.  Sanofi Pasteur Merck Sharp & Dohme, who make Gardasil, and Glaxo Smith Kline, manufacturers of the rival vaccine Cervarix, will be bidding for the Government contract to supply the vaccines.  There is a lot of money at stake.

In October 2005, when the story broke in the UK , the vaccines were hailed as a ‘wonder drug’ which would end the need for smear tests.  Pamela Morton, director of the cervical cancer charity Jo’s Trust, said: “The successful development of a vaccine that will prevent cervical cancer cannot come soon enough.”

Jo’s Trust had emerged as a strong proponent of vaccination, and their voice, as a patients’ group, carried weight.  Suddenly, we find Glaxo Smith Kline funding Jo’s Trust to the tune of £11,400 in the very next year, 2006.

We are still trying to find out how much GSK have paid Jo’s Trust to date in 2007.  Jo’s trust is also part-funded by Sanofi Pasteur Merck Sharp & Dohme, so we have the two drug companies who are in the running for an HPV-virus vaccine contract being the same two drug companies who are giving money to the patients’ support group lobbying for HPV-virus vaccination.

Jo’s Trust itself is very cagey about just how much money it receives from the two drug vaccine companies.  www.jotrust.co.uk (click on ‘who we are’) merely says:   ‘Jo’s Trust, in 2006 only, received an unrestricted educational grant and support in kind from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). The trust did not receive any unrestricted educational grants from Sanofi Pasteur MSD (SPMSD) but it did receive support in kind.’

Neither Jo’s Trust nor Sanofi Pasteur Merck Sharp & Dohme will say how much the latter has given the former, despite SPMSD’s communications manager hilariously telling this author their funding is ‘transparent’.  We have in fact challenged Jo’s Trust to detail all their income from drug companies and other corporate sources.  But the GSK funding alone is 9% of the charity’s income, and £2,500 of it enabled Jo’s Trust to put on a ‘Parliamentary Breakfast’ last year.  It would be no surprise to find that Jo’s Trust pushed hard for vaccination at that lobbying event.

But despite the hype, neither Gardasil (that’s the Merck Sharp and Dohme one) nor Cervarix (Glaxo Smith Kline) is a ‘wonder drug’ as hailed just two years ago.  The maximum protection is against 70% of the viruses which cause cervical cancer, so neither drug is any more than 70% effective.  All women will have to carry on with screening even after being vaccinated. (See Q&A: Cervical cancer vaccine.)

‘…vaccination does not substitute for routine cervical cancer screening’ say Merck, and it ‘may not result in protection in all vaccine recipients.’

Of course if those proposing the vaccine were that serious about preventing HPV, they would recommend giving the vaccine to boys as well, who as carriers are obviously 50% of the problem.  But the typical male reaction is that this is a ‘women’s issue’.  James Whale perfectly articulated this view on TalkSport Radio on 25th June 2007 .  ‘Boys don’t get cervical cancer’ so why should they have to be vaccinated, he asked.  Of course, from the Government’s point of view, vaccinating boys would double the cost – or embarrass them when take-up was miniscule.

Now we turn to the side effects.  It took a Freedom of Information Act request in the United States of America to winkle out that Gardasil had been implicated in deaths of 3 women and 1,637 adverse reactions (May 2007).

371 of those reactions were serious, one of the deaths was within hours of having the vaccine and there have been foetal abnormalities as well.

Although Gardasil is available in the States, the adverse reactions have stalled Merck’s hopes of USA-wide compulsory vaccination.

Such is the hysteria for mass vaccination in the UK , for a long time, only the Daily Express had mentioned the possibility of side effects. (See ‘12-Year-Olds Will be Given Anti-Cancer Vaccine‘.)

In The Scotsman, it was left to a lone blogger to mention the problems at the end of a typically sycophantic article. See ‘Schoolgirls in Scotland to be vaccinated with cervical cancer drug.’

Up to October 2007, no British newspaper had headlined the associated deaths and adverse reactions with the exception of Metro, the free sheet which is part of the Daily Mail stable.  Metro also carried the obligatory complacent response from the Department of Health’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency. See ‘Cancer jab implicated in deaths of women.

But now the Daily Telegraph has highlighted the problems. See ‘Cervical cancer drug Gardasil linked to deaths.

And the same paper has also pointed out that no study has yet shown 12-year-old girls are protected for longer than five years. See ‘Concerns raised over girls’ cervical cancer jab.

Meanwhile, the Sunday Express reported at the end of October 2007 on shocking side effects after vaccination in the United States , including eight deaths among the 3,500 adverse reactions. See ‘Eight Deaths Linked to Labour’s New Sex Jab for Schoolgirls.

We saw earlier that despite vaccination, women will still need to be screened, but the Daily Mail has now carried an article about a new screening method which actually detects the virus itself, enabling much earlier and more reliable diagnosis.

It seems women commentators in the USA are not exactly falling over each over to express delight in Gardasil like their counterparts in Britain.

Elsewhere, sites are pointing out that the vaccine has traces of Aluminium and that it has not been proven totally safe.

On the testing background, Phase II trials were on just 552 women aged 16-23, and the follow-up was only 2-and-a-half years.  Merck are concerned enough about the possibility of consequent foetal abnormalities to be monitoring births of women having the vaccine. See ‘Gardasil HPV Vaccine Reduced Infection and Disease in New Clinical Study.

1,529 adolescent boys and girls aged 10-15 were in another trial of Gardasil. Results looking at anti-bodies are good, but no follow-up time has been reported to look for long-term adverse effects, including any carcinogenic problems. (See, ‘Merck’s HPV Vaccine Produces Stronger Immune Response in Girls, Boys Than Women, Study.‘)

Phase III trials have just completed on 12,167 women aged 16-26, of whom half (just over 6,000) were given the vaccine in a three-dose regimen over six months.  The follow-up has been just three years.

The mantra has been: ‘young people are gong to have sex anyway, so let’s just make it as safe as we can for them’.  Do we say ‘young people are going to smoke /get smashed on drink / climb onto railway lines anyway, so let’s just make it as safe as we can for them’?  No, we don’t.  So why the exception for sex?  It must be that some people out there – women of a certain age running family-planning clinics and some peculiar secularist men – get a perverse vicarious pleasure in the thought of teenagers being sexually active.

We even dress little girls like tarts and then wonder why some men draw the obvious conclusion.

In the real world there is a sexual health crisis amongst the young, with something like 10% of young people infected with Chlamydia, the disease which causes infertility.

The secularists and ‘family planners’ might care to explain their part in the sexually-liberated new dawn to those young people which it has left unable to have children of their own.

Sorry, people, it might offend against your liberal prejudices, but chastity is the only lifestyle which will protect against STD’s. Not condoms, not any number of inadequately-tested jabs, not more sex education, nothing except chastity and fidelity.

But unlike vaccines, medicines and contraceptives, there’s no money in chastity, so don’t expect the professionals to flock around supporting it.

In a recent meeting with officials from the Governments’ Teenage Pregnancy Unit, Christian campaigners raised the point about infertility, only to be told: ‘But this is the Teenage Pregnancy Unit.  We aren’t concerned with infertility here.’

Indeed, as the Government’s teenage sex targets all revolve around teen pregnancy, don’t expect them to be that bothered about infertility in the young.  In fact, it’s a horrible thought, but they might well be pleased, because infertile young people aren’t going to figure in the pregnancy statistics, are they?

What a dysfunctional, disease-ridden, fornicating society we live in, made even worse by the fact that some actually like it this way.

‘Reveal Funding’: Pro-Vaccine Charity Challenged

The UK Charity spearheading the campaign for vaccinating schoolgirls against the virus which causes cervical cancer has today been challenged to reveal all corporate sources of its funding after threatening a Christian organisation with legal action.

The challenge came after Christian Voice reported on Friday that Jo’s Trust received £11,400 in 2006 from Glaxo Smith Kline, who manufacture the vaccine ‘Cervarix’.

The Jo’s Trust website admits to receiving ‘an unrestricted educational grant’ from Glaxo and ‘support in kind’ from both Glaxo and Sanofi Pasteur Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD), who make Gardasil, in 2006, but no specific sums are given.

When the National Director of Christian Voice rang Pamela Morton, director of Jo’s Trust, to verify the amounts involved in 2006 and 2007, she refused to say and threatened legal action over our reporting.

However, the corporate responsibility section of the GlaxoSmithKline website lists a £1,600 donation to Jo’s Trust for presentations at internal GSK meetings, a £5,000 ‘medical fellowship award’ for ‘IT and communications’, £1,300 so Jo’s Trust could attend an international conference on cervical cancer in Paris and a £2,500 ‘medical fellowship award’ to support a Parliamentary Breakfast at the House of Commons on ‘the burden and future prevention of cervical cancer’.

Jo’s Trust has emerged as the leading proponent for vaccines against cervical cancer, calling for all secondary schoolgirls to be immunised, at a possible cost to the Exchequer of half a billion pounds for the vaccines alone.

The vaccines, which act against certain strains of Human Papilloma Virus, thought to cause both cervical cancer and genital warts, are said to prevent around 70% of cervical cancers. Concerns are however being raised about virus mutation which could increase the 30% of cancers unprotected, the cost-effectiveness of the vaccines, which cost £300 per person, 25 times the cost of MMR, and about their long-term efficacy and safety, in the absence of any long-term trials.

Severe side effects have also been reported in trials on Gardasil, which is currently in the market for the lucrative Government contract. These included three deaths.

Oddly, apart from mentioning the need for continued screening in those vaccinated, there appears to be nothing negative about either Gardasil or Cervarix on the Jo’s Trust website. A webpage on the site www.jotrust.co.uk written by Professor Alison Flander and Dr Amanda Tristram of Cardiff University has no mention whatsoever of any reported side effects in the trials of the vaccines. The question is not even raised, let alone answered.

In its 2006 accounts, Cardiff University acknowledged grants, gifts and donations from a number of companies, including Glaxo Smith Kline and Merck Sharp and Dohme.

Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said today:

‘It is difficult to understand why Jo’s Trust, which has been such an effective promoter of anti-HPV vaccines, should not be totally upfront about the financial support it receives from the pharmaceutical industry.

‘The absence of openness and the point-blank and bad-tempered refusal of the Trust’s Director to be candid about the sums involved makes it possible to draw uncomfortable conclusions. Threats of legal action over disclosure of this story do not help Jo’s Trust’s position. Christian Voice will not be swayed by attempts at intimidation from reporting on a legitimate matter of public interest.

‘As a self-help and support group, Jo’s Trust is probably doing good work. But they have taken the wrong road on the vaccine issue. Even after vaccination, women will still have to go for screening, and the exciting development of a new test for the HPV virus itself means screening will be more effective at preventing cervical cancer. Vaccination is beginning to look like yesterday’s expensive technology.

‘I am sure the Jo’s Trust volunteers, many of whom will have personal stories to tell of battling with cervical cancer, generate most of Jo’s Trust’s money through fund-raising in the community. Nevertheless, questions remain about the rest. I now call on Jo’s Trust to disclose all donations and the value of payments in kind they have received from companies and other funding bodies.

‘However, I must say that taking money from the pharmaceutical industry was a grave error of judgment in the first place. It has destroyed any image of impartiality in Jo’s Trust when its people speak on prevention of cervical cancer. The drug companies will be delighted to have a patients’ group lobbying for their vaccines, but the giving of grants and benefits inevitably raises questions about that group’s independence. If it had been me, I would not have taken a penny-piece from them.’

Paul Hardiman, Communications Manager of Sanofi Pasteur MSD, said “our sponsorship (of Jo’s Trust) is transparent and adheres to the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI)’s Code of Practice. ” To date, he has failed to disclose, even when pressed, the exact amounts of Sanofi Pasteur MSD’s transparent funding.

Glaxo Smith Kline’s Communications Manager, David Daley, confirmed the company’s 2006 funding of Jo’s Trust. We were waiting to hear from him about amounts paid and promised in 2007 as we went to press.

The New Cervical Cancer Test That Could Kill off Smears

Cervical Cancer Charity Has Glaxo Link

The decision by the Government to vaccinate schoolgirls against some of the viruses which cause cervical cancer has been condemned by a Christian prayer and lobby group.

Christian Voice has also found links between one of the drug companies involved and the cancer charity – Jo’s Trust – at the forefront of the vaccination campaign.

Christian Voice points out that no vaccine is effective against more than 70% of strains of the Human Papilloma Virus, the main cause of cervical cancer and genital warts.  The group also says that the message that women will still have to go for screening will be lost, along with the lives of some who think they are totally protected.

Indeed, as many will think they have more protection than they have, the vaccine will encourage promiscuity, lower the use of condoms, which are not 100% effective against disease anyway, and lead to more teenage pregnancy and more sexually-transmitted disease.

At £300 for a course, twenty-five times the cost of the equally-controversial MMR, administering the vaccine will be an expensive exercise in futility, the group suggests.  The main beneficiary will not be women, but drug multinationals Merck, who make Gardasil and Glaxo-Smith-Kline (GSK), manufacturers of Cervarix.

Cervical cancer charity Jo’s Trust, which is funded by GSK, has welcomed the announcement of a nation-wide programme of vaccination in secondary schools, as if Gardasil and Cervarix are perfectly safe and 100% effective ‘wonder drugs’, which they are not.

Given that the desperation to get the vaccine licensed means that there have been no long-term follow-up studies, and we could be lining women up for medical problems, Christian Voice has warned.

Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said today:

‘Although the Government have said that parents will have the final say about whether their daughters are vaccinated, I expect school health outreach workers from Primary Care Trusts and the like will be giving these vaccines to young girls behind their parents’ backs.

‘Since the vaccine works best before the onset of sexual activity, they will be treating these girls, to put it bluntly, like tarts, saying they expect them to be sexually incontinent, lacking in self-respect and the basic morality required to keep their virginity.

‘The message is one of despair, disrespect and low expectations. Anyone giving this drug to a girl is telling her: “I think you are a slag”.

‘It could be objected that as men are carriers of Human Papilloma Virus, a woman who marries as a virgin can catch HPV from her husband if he has slept around before marrying.  That only reinforces our message to stay a virgin and marry a virgin.  But the logic of the objection demands the vaccine also be given to schoolboys, which the Government will not do because it would double the cost if there was maximum take-up, and embarrass them if boys and their parents said ‘This is a women’s disease, why bother?’  The drugs have been tested on men and boys but not even to the limited extent that they have on women.

‘But the vaccination will inevitably raise promiscuity, teenage pregnancy and, worst of all, infertility. Young women will be thinking they have more protection than they actually have. The benefits will be talked up to encourage take-up and the negatives, like the mere 70% effectiveness, the adverse reactions, including deaths, and the lack of any long-term follow-up downplayed.  The continued need to go for screening is a subject which will be finessed or even avoided.

Hardy anyone will bother to warn girls that they are not protected against other sexually-transmitted diseases.  Certainly, no-one will be honest enough to say that even condoms offer barely any protection against sexually-transmitted diseases either. Chlamydia, which causes infertility, is already affecting one in ten teenagers. That figure is set to rise as a result of Gardasil, and infertility will rise with it.

‘I have a horrible feeling that as all the targets to do with teenage sexual activity are based around pregnancy, those in power will actually be pleased if more young people become infertile, because they won’t figure in the pregnancy statistics.

‘The best way of not getting cervical cancer and genital warts is to stay a virgin and marry a virgin. Why don’t these officials want young people to do that? Why don’t we raise their expectations and ours and treat them with some respect?  Could it be that there is no money in it?’

‘Even the cervical cancer charity Jo’s Trust is getting almost 10% of its money from Glaxo Smith Kline.  Of course they will be in favour of the vaccines.’

‘I have a nagging feeling that Gardasil is going to leave misery in its wake.’

Condoms on TV Won’t Stop Teen Sex Crisis

The suggestion from a Government-funded advisory group that compulsory sex education and advertising condoms on TV will reduce teenage pregnancies and sexually-transmitted diseases was dismissed as ‘laughable’ today by a Christian prayer and lobby group.

The report, from the Independent Advisory Group on Sexual Health and HIV, said recent government campaigns had failed to recognise the link between drink, drugs and sexual health. The document also blamed the media for glamorising celebrity excesses.

Consequently, teenagers in the UK face a “sexual health crisis” fuelled by alcohol, drugs and risky sexual behaviour. They are “defining their lifestyle” by behaviour encouraged by celebrity culture, the Advisory Group said. The increase in sexually-transmitted infections and high teenage pregnancy rates are “disturbing”, it says.

Sexual Health Crisis

Professor Mark Bellis, head of the centre for public health at Liverpool John Moores University and one of the authors of the report, called the link between alcohol, drugs and risky sexual behaviour “fuel for a sexual health crisis”.

The Advisory Group, which is funded by the Department of Health, and has a membership drawn largely from the family-planning and homosexual health industry, also points out that the UK has the highest rates of teenage pregnancy and sexual infections in Europe.

The UK came bottom of a table of 21 countries in a recent Unicef analysis of child wellbeing. It showed British children had the highest incidence of risk-taking behaviour. More had had sexual intercourse by 15 than in any other country, more had been drunk two or more times aged 11-15, and they were the third highest users of cannabis. Over the past 12 years, chlamydia infections had increased by 300%, gonorrhoea by 200%, HIV by 300% and syphilis by 2,000%. “In a single act of unprotected sex with an infected partner, adolescent girls have a 1% chance of acquiring HIV, a 30% chance of getting genital herpes and a 50% chance of contracting gonorrhoea,” the report said.

Platitudes and Failed Already

But when it comes to recommending action, the report sways between the platitudinous and the failed-already. It urges the Government to ‘reduce drug taking and alcohol consumption among young people’ and calls for compulsory sex education (PSHE) in schools.

The chairman of the Independent Advisory Group on Sexual Health and HIV, Baroness Gould, currently President of the Family Planning Association (FPA), and who is a leading campaigner for ever-easier access to abortion, even suggested making condoms more readily available to young people and allowing unrestricted TV adverts for them.

In a statement the Department of Health said the issue of sexual health has been one of its ‘top priorities’ and recent statistics showed the lowest levels of teenage pregnancies since 1993.

Laughable

Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said today:

‘The Advisory Group has reported on one of the greatest problems our society faces but its recommendations are laughable. There is a shocking epidemic of teenage pregnancy and increasingly of sexually-transmitted diseases and consequent infertility. But to suggest that more and even compulsory school sex education will help reduce teenage pregnancy and sexually-transmitted disease is like suggesting paraffin will put out a fire. The more sex education you have, the more teens want to try out the enticing bits of what they have learned. But every study shows that they are lousy at using contraceptives.

‘Even if they were brilliant at putting on condoms, sexual health experts know these are nowhere near as effective as they are claimed to be by campaigners like Baroness Gould.

‘As to advertising condoms on TV, that will send out precisely the sort of mixed message of which Lady Gould complains, unless the message she intends to convey is ‘Get fornicating, kids; everyone else is.’

‘It is facile to attack the media for reporting on celebrity tarts and drunks. If the celebs were not so irresponsible, there would be nothing to report. And the rot starts at the head. Those in line to the Throne are among the worst at encouraging drinking and irresponsible sex. If Prince William and Prince Harry behaved like Christian gentlemen, a challenging standard would be set which would be bound to filter down.

‘The Department of Health’s response is just complacent. Yes, the teen pregnancy stats went down in 2005, but as the Government’s targets are all based on teenage pregnancy, no-one cares how many kids, girls especially, are becoming infertile through Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea. And those diseases, and Herpes and HPV even more so, go right round the condoms the advertising of which Lady Gould thinks will solve the problem.

‘Baroness Gould herself is Labour lobby-fodder in the House of Lords. She was a strong supporter of the Sexual Orientation Regulations, the Government’s Religious Hatred Bill and its draconian terror laws. Not one of the strongest independent upholders of human rights, she also supported the introduction of ID cards. As soon as she was elevated to the House of Lords in 1993, she began voting for every homosexual rights measure she could get her hands on, including sodomy on 16-year-olds, in the armed forces, in schools and in sex education, and inevitably for civil partnerships and for homosexuals to be allowed to adopt other people’s children.

Stay A Virgin; Marry a Virgin

‘There is only one way to reduce teenage sex and that is to promote chastity. The message has to be: ‘Stay a virgin; marry a virgin.’ Of course the homosexual lobby won’t like that as there is nothing in it for them, and nor is there any money in chastity for the contraceptive manufacturers and distributors such as the FPA who are so well represented on the Independent Advisory Group.

‘On the wider social front, the ending of our culture of self-gratification, self-destruction, lying, thieving and violence will take a miracle of Godly national repentance. That is what we in Christian Voice are praying and working for. But in the meantime, hands-wringing and more of the same are exactly the sort of irresponsible and ungodly reactions we would expect from this Government-funded Independent (well, except from the Government and the teen sex industry) Advisory Group on Sexual Health and HIV.’

Child Sex Worker ‘Should be Sacked’

A call was made today for the sexual health outreach worker, Angela Star, who injected a girl with a hormonal contraceptive in the toilets at McDonalds, to be sacked.

Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said today:

“The Melissa Smith scandal in Mansfield was bad enough, when another health outreach worker working for yet another Primary Care Trust arranged an abortion for Melissa behind her mother’s back and then couldn’t even be bothered to go with her.  This admission by Angela Star of her shabby treatment of a vulnerable young girl shows that the child sex industry is out of control.

“If the girl was at immediate risk of becoming pregnant, as Mrs Star’s employers contend, she should have been advised not to behave so cheaply, and told the only place for sexual activity is within marriage.  But that would have meant no money for the contraceptive industry.

“By condoning this girl’s illicit sexual activity, Mrs Star is encouraging behaviour which she must know can easily result in sexually-transmitted disease and infertility.  It seems she doesn’t care about that.  Even condoms don’t provide adequate protection against sexually-transmitted infections.  I have a horrible feeling that for every girl who becomes infertile, the better it is for the a Primary Care Trust’s teenage pregnancy statistics.  Apart from that, I find the irresponsibility and lack of basic humanity shown by these people is staggering.  They are not around to pick up the medical, emotional and psychological pieces later.  The whole teenage pregnancy strategy, based on encouraging promiscuity with contraception, has failed and must be abandoned.  Even Government minister Beverley Hughes admits it is not working.  The only sane and righteous policy is that which advocates chastity and fidelity.  The young today are a generation betrayed.”
