  1. I was just taking note of the publications in that list. It’s all the usual suspects. The Guardian reckons it’s one of those high brow papers, but it to is down in the gutter. It’s the oldest trick in the book of journalism, to shock to sell.

Many stories of this type are untrue. Kids will say anything if the journalist offers them a £20 note. The Icelandic band have also figured out shock sells, and no doubt they are just trying to pay their mortgages. I doubt it is any more sinister than that. It’s tittle tattle and a waste of mental energy. It also helps the government to keep the mind of the public off the real problems.

By the way, you won’t find a single story like the above in the FT. You see their readers are all getting on and building stuff. It’s more of a ‘how to’ guide. It’s all so much more positive.

    • And it is totally in tune with the instruction of the Lord by the prophet Jeremiah to the captives in Babylon, Andrew.
This is what Christians should be doing today IMHO:
Jer 29:4 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon; 5 Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them; 6 Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished. 7 And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.
