Syrian rebels have attacked an ancient Christian town in Syria.
Residents fled as the al-Qaeda-affiliated Nusra Front occupied Maalouda. Government forces are said to have all but retaken the town, but there are reports of fighting carrying on in the town, which housed 3,000 people, many of them speakers of Aramiac, the ancient tongue spoken by the Lord Jesus himself.
The BBC’s Jeremy Bowen disputed reports of wholesale damage to churches but confirmed that six Christians have been kidnapped.
Mallouda is one of the most famous and historic centres of Christianity in the world. The attack illustrates the threat faced by the Christian minority from the rebels, who want to evict all non-Sunni minorities, including the Alawites amongst whom President Assad is numbered, and establish an Islamic state in Syria.
On 27th May, according to the Assyrian International News Agency (AINA), armed rebels affiliated to the Free Syrian Army (FSA) raided the Christian-populated al-Duvair village in Reef on the outskirts of Homs near the border with Lebanon and massacred all its civilian residents, including women and children.
Amid the chorus of denunciations of the brutality of President Assad’s forces, it has been difficult to hear any similar recognition of the abuses of the rebels from the likes of UK Foreign Secretary the Rt Hon William Hague and US Secretary of State John Kerry.
Kerry was accused of lying by the Russians last week after his response to a question from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee asking if the Syrian opposition had become more infiltrated by al-Qaeda.
“Kerry responded that that was ‘basically incorrect’ and that the opposition has ‘increasingly become more defined by its moderation.'” reported USA Today.
Despite the clear intentions of the Islamist rebels to butcher religious minorities in Syria, and the atrocities committed by them (see George Galloway’s speech in the House of Commons), Western Governments, including the UK, France and the US, are still supporting the rebels and doing all they can to destabilise President Assad.
Their actions, and those of Qatar and Saudi Arabia, have kept the fighting going when the rebellion might well have come to an end. Their support for the rebels has achieved nothing except tens of thousands of deaths and displacements.
Yesterday the Washington Post reported that the CIA are now arming the Syrian rebels. Weapons deliveries have been ‘streaming into the country over the past two weeks,’ the paper said.
This is despite the Russian intervention in which Syria will join the Chemical Weapons Convention, but cruise missile strikes appear to have been averted after it became clear that the American Congress would join the UK House of Commons in voting against its executive’s desire to start bombing Syrian Government positions. Congressmen were reporting that emails and telephone calls from constituents were in some case 244 to 1 opposed to military intervention. A straw poll on WND’s news story reporting the figures is currently running at around 98% opposed.

I knew this would and will happen. The USA led by Obama, dubbed by one US commentator as the worst politician ever to occupy the White House, couldn’t care less. Neither does the EU for all their religion of political correctness, equality and alleged tolerance. This obviously does not ex tend to Christians or Christianity the remnant of which stands in the way of their atheistic humanism which, if applied universally, will create heaven on earth for mankind. For the Muslim terrorists now killing Christians in Syria and Egypt this is but a step in eliminating all Christians and forcing Islam on the world. I have written here before what a UK or EU will look like under the “religion of peace” and will not repeat it again.

Turkey is the same country that carried out a genocide that killed 1.5 million Armenian Christians in 1915. Fast forward to the present. An MP in Afghanistan has called for Afghans who convert to Christianity to be killed because so many of them have converted both in Afghanistan as well as Pakistan and India. All our brave service personnel died for this?
Wake up Christians! We need to be ready for this and also to stand with Israel because the Western world and Islam are against both of us.

Finally Jesus said: Luke 21:36 “Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
Stand with Israel? Aren’t Israeli organisations providing support in the form of “humanitarian aid” to these terrorists? Aren’t those who call themselves “Jews” today no different in belief than the Pharisees who our Lord called children of the devil? While the Muslims are wrong about salvation, they at least reverence Jesus’ name as one of the prophets, while those calling themselves Jews blaspheme Him with contempt.
I certainly agree that Christians need to expose the conspiracies perpetuated against our brothers in other lands by our own Western governments, but standing with the Pharisees, those who curse our Lord and who profit from the turmoil they cause by subterfuge in countries such as Syria, is not our place. What fellowship hath light with darkness? Remember the two witnesses in Revelation are slain in Jerusalem, not in Mecca.
O Garry, you are SO wrong about this. Israel is NOT giving ‘humanitarian aid’ to the rebels, but they HAVE been giving MEDICAL aid to anyone who needs it – as they ALWAYS do. They have always given medical aid to Islamic terrorists and Muslim civilians alike – including the PLO – even in the midst of wars between the two. They treat everyone according to their injuries- not according to their race or religion. They also give medical care, including life saving surgeries, to Palestinians- in Israeli hospitals – even Palestinian leaders and their families who need it – These same Palestinians who will go home and fire missiles over into Israel. They also have a special program to give heart surgery to children, and they are among the first to offer humanitarian aid in the midst of natural disasters all over the world – even to those who hate them! They are an amazing force for good in the world- and are deliberately trying to be a ‘light unto the Nations’ as the Word of God says.
The ‘Jesus ‘ in the Qur’an – actually ‘Isa’ – is NOT our Jesus. He is a Muslim prophet, the son of Mary, superseded by Mohammed, who is said to come back with the Muslim messiah – the Mhadi- and destroy all crosses, massacre all the Jews and forcibly convert the world to Islam. Muslims like to deceive us with all this ‘we believe in Jesus ‘ stuff. They don’t.
The Qur’an explicitly denies the Deity and Sonship of Jesus, denies the Trinity, and denies the crucifixion and the atonement. It is blasphemy in Islam to believe God is a Trinity….but of course their god is NOT our God; he is the antithesis of our God. Our God is the God of ISRAEL. He loves the Jews- and He came to earth in a human body to die for them. The god of Islam hates the Jews – and he also hates Christians and commands our death, terrorization or subjugation if we do not accept that ‘there is no god but Allah and Mohammed is his messenger’.
We non-Jews have been grafted into God’s family and are saved by faith in Yeshua – their Messiah. Many Jews are Messianic Jews- they believe in Jesus and acknowledge Him as God and Saviour – their numbers are growing in Israel. But even those who don’t know Him yet are still part of His chosen people and one day, according to many Scriptures, they will be saved. We who belong to Messiah are called to love and support Israel. The Nation of Israel re-created by God Himself on 14th May 1948 – is a miraculous fulfilment of many Biblical Prophecies, given by the God of Israel Himself and He has promised that they will never again be uprooted from their Land. He still fights for Israel as He did in Bible days. It is amazing.
Just wondering is this the alleged town where its reported the rebels removed a young local girl from the care of nuns and set about dismembering her with a hacksaw while she was still alive, and if that report is true then where is puppetman Cameron and his morality speech?,or is that atrocity considered ”ok”
The horrific incident with the saw occurred in one of the Alawite villages, but I am not sure which one. The source for that is THIS article where Mother Agnes Mariam el-Salib wrote, “A total of twelve Alawite villages were subjected to this horrendous attack. That was a true slaughterhouse. People were mutilated and beheaded. There is even a video that shows a girl being dismembered alive – alive! – by a frame saw.” The entire article is worth reading in full.
The people who behead believe for their Islamic religion one cannot go to paradise without ones head. Pretty dumb when applied to Christians. They are obviously not aware of one of the great Christian saints, John, who announced the coming of Christ and was a thorn in the side of the immoral King Herod. He most assuredly is in the Kingdom of God with his Lord. Mutilation has been repeatedly been used in modern times by these great warriors of the “religion of peace” (as we are repeatedly told by Western politicians). Egypt & Iraq have had hundreds of such atrocities. The same has sadly now come to Syria.
Everyone seems to be opposed to this war—-the people, the military and even the discredited politicians. So which shadowy interest groups does Sky News and CNN intensive pro-war coverage speak for? We need to know who these well camouflaged trouble-makers are?
It’s interesting that Mother Agnes Mariam el-Salib, being reported by Russia Today, claims in the same article at some length that video footage of gas attack victims is not genuine. She doesn’t doubt that the dismembering video is genuine. It has never really been settled what atrocities the Germans committed in Belgium in the First World War. Did they really use nuns as bell clappers ? What would have been the point of this ?
More recently, accounts of atrocities committed by Pakistani soldiers in the newly separating Bangladesh were exaggerated, and so were atrocities committed by Iraqis in Kuwait. Let’s hope that some of these are too.
Ironically, a Vietnamese restaurant in Eastcheap in the City of London has been subjected to a weapon which the Ancient Greeks thought of but the Americans never used in Viet Nam : a giant concave mirror which uses the sun’s rays (in London, in September !) to burn carpets and other furnishings. It will also inflict damage on vehicles ,and if used carefully will fry eggs a considerable distance away.
This kind of thing might be very effective in the Syrian climate, and it is a much greener option than chemicals.
