The first gay wedding cakes could be baked next summer.
‘Gay weddings’ could take place next summer.

Her Majesty the Queen has given her Royal Assent to the Bill legalising ‘gay marriage’ in England and Wales.

Speaker John Bercow MP told the House of Commons yesterday that Her Majesty had given the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill her approval.  The Bill is now an Act of Parliament.

During Her Coronation on 2nd June 1953, and before she was anointed and crowned, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth was asked by Archbishop Fisher, inter alia:

‘Will you to the utmost of your power maintain the Laws of God and the true profession of the Gospel?’

And the Queen replied: ‘All this I solemnly promise to do.’

Next the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland presented the Bible to the Queen. Between them, the Archbishop and Moderator said to her:

Orb
‘The whole world is subject to the Power and Empire of Christ our Redeemer’

‘Our gracious Queen: to keep your majesty ever mindful of the Law and the Gospel of God as the Rule for the whole life and government of Christian Princes, we present you with this book, the most valuable thing that this world affords. Here is Wisdom; This is the royal Law; these are the lively oracles of God.’

The Archbishop told Her Majesty when she was given the Orb from the Crown Jewels:

‘Receive this Orb set under the Cross, and remember that the whole world is subject to the Power and Empire of Christ our Redeemer.’

Her Majesty’s Government can no more change the definition of marriage than they can declare that God does not exist.

But they have done so, and as Her Majesty always acts on the advice of her ministers she has, and not for the first time, legislated against her Coronation Oath.

As we saw on Monday, the homosexuals will now be targeting freedom of speech and Christianity itself.  When will the gay hate speech Bill next raise its ugly head?  Who will be the first Christian teacher sacked for refusing to teach that ‘gay shows the way’?  Which will be the first church taken to court for refusing a ‘gay wedding’?  Watch this space.

      • 1) AgentCormac didn’t even mention God.
        2) Your reply was more a fundie attempt to manipulate your readers ‘oh a God-hater, don’t read what he says’ than a reasoned response.
        3) Words have changed their definition throughout history and will continue to do so until English is a dead language.

I’d have more respect for you if you just owned up and admitted that you’re against same sex marriage because you don’t like those people.

        • 1&2 ‘AgentCormac’ is a militant atheist who comments frequently on Freethinker.
3 Good point. ‘Hatred’ now means ‘opposition’ and ‘Hate Speech’ now means ‘expressing a contrary view’.
4 It’s not about not liking homosexuals, although those homosexuals who go into schools recruiting under the guise of ‘anti-bullying’ and ‘sex education’ do try my patience a bit. It is being opposed to dehumanising sexual practices and redefining God-given institutions like marriage.

  1. where does it say in the bible , that you should persecute , others because they are gay , or that the law of the land is governed by god , and not the people of the country involved
anyway , if we were going to be governed by gods teachings , wouldnt we be following sharia law , or some other outdated form of regulation , seeing as there is probably more active muslims in the uk , than christians.
    have a nice day

  2. It is clear that the main push for redefinition of marriage came from homosexual activist Peter Tatchell and his associates and followers. He is an anti monarchist, revolutionary socialist and former Labour Parliamentary candidate. He also desires to reduce the age of sexual consent, we may speculate as to why.

At least Tatchell is straightforward about his aims. I note with interest that the BBC has not (as far as I know and I listen to Today daily) mentioned this momentous signature, which overthrows thousands of years of tradition and as you say breaks the queen’s coronation oath. David Cameron is more to blame for pretending to be a conservative and a Christian. and the real aims of this change are not being discussed-the end of institutional Christianity in Britain. Parish churches do not have the resources to fight legal cases brought against them by homosexual activists. I have no doubt that such activism ghas been long planned.

The establishment seems to wish to play down the threat this Act poses to the established church, and therefore the monarchy. I suspect it is a case of ‘Apres moi le deluge’ and the revolutionaries are saving their firepower until the coronation of Charles. I predict that will be the end of the Church of England as a national institution.

what to do? This has not happened without the hand of God. To trot out a cliché, it is a ‘wake up call’. The church must not define itself by opposition to pretended homosexual marriage, but obedience to scripture. This has been getting harder to do within Anglicanism for some time. Perhaps this is a Malachi 3: 16 moment when those who fear the LORD will separate themselves. Troubled times ahead. As predicted.

  3. This is regrettable, but really it is difficult to see what else she could have done
If the Queen had refused to give her assent, it would have set a precedent and plunged Britain into an enormous constitutional crises. The anti-Monarchists would then have had a field day and the Monarchy would in all likelihood have been doomed.
Ironically almost everybody in Britain can express a personal or political opionion except the Head of State. Nobody apart from her closest advisors knows what she really thinks about any issue.
I think you have to accept that a lot of Christians do actually support same sex marriage. I am not one of them, but some churches are split almost 50/50 on the issue

  4. I believe the Church of England, oaths the Monarchs have taken and statutes surrounding the laws are tied in with The Church of England and their “law book” The Holy Bible as England’s long history proves and there may be current underlying laws still in affect in England that pre-write the future actions of law in some way. A new law or act may not always negate the future. One side believes certain actions do not tear a nation apart and some believe they make a nation more solid….

    • I recently watched a DVD of the 1953 Coronation. She promised to “maintain” the Church of England, but not to the exclusion of anybody else. Indeed, a minister of the Church of Scotland assisted in the ceremony for the first time in 1953. She promised to govern her different people according to their laws and customs.

I would not be at all surprised if Charles chose to have a Roman Catholic, a Rabbi and an Imam present at his coronation, if he outlives the Queen. This would not be at all unreasonable, and the Scot in 1953 would be the precedent for it.

This “current underlying laws still in affect in England that pre-write the future actions of law in some way” sounds a bit like a constitution, doesn’t it ? I believe even in England one does vaguely exist.

  5. Wow …. since the Church of England was specifically formed for the monarch of England to get a divorce which IS, according to the bible, a sin … then I really don’t see why this should be a problem. I am assuming you don’t wear mixed fibres (also a sin) and are prepared to stone you neighbour to death for a variety of other sins commonly committed by Church of England Christians in the modern day. When will you be selling your daughters?
And … I’m assuming the old testament was so exciting you never got to the part where Jesus died on the cross to take the sins of others, and before that preached loving your neighbour, and leaving judgement of others up to God alone.
Nobody has to marry a gay couple, nothing about gay couples should affect your hateful misdirected pious life one jolt, but for those churches that have been wanting to marry their lgbt couples for years, because they have a better grasp of the bible than you – it is a real step forward. Try directing your energies to something Jesus would have really wanted – helping the poor and disadvantaged – that way you’ll be too busy to worry about people who make your insecure ass uncomfortable by being outside your scope of scientific and empathetic understanding.

    • ‘because they have a better grasp of the bible (sic) than you’
Are you serious? You have no grasp of the Bible at all.
Divorce is not a sin, it is provided for in Deut 24 and Matt 19.
Wearing mixed fibres is not a sin. The specific mixture of wool and linen was prohibited as a ceremonial law to demonstrate that the Lord’s people were not to mix with pagan cultures. In any case, if you mix wool and linen in a weave as I understand it the mixture doesn’t wash very well because the different fibres pull against each other.
Individuals are not allowed to take the law into their own hands.
We have replaced bond servitude with social security and wage-slavery.
The Lord Jesus does not say leave the judgment of others up to God, except for their eternal destiny.
And you are being judgmental in your last sentence, you hypocrite.
Redefining marriage for ‘the gays’ redefines it for all of us.
As for ‘helping the poor and disadvantaged’, that is exactly what the church of which I am part does. There are no specifically atheist groups helping the poor and disadvantaged, helping people get off drugs and alcohol and putting their lives together.
Go and watch BBC Wales ‘Back on the Streets’ and see what the church is doing. (2 days left to watch Episode 3)

      • Then presumably injecting cocaine isn’t a sin because it isn’t in the Bible, and infecting computers with viruses isn’t a sin because is isn’t in the Bible. I would have thought it was because polyester and these other things had not been invented when the Bible was written.

I didn’t realise that the Old Testament was partly just useful household tips, like an ancient Mrs Beeton. Maybe utensils greasy from pork were difficult to wash up under desert conditions .

        • The good Lord gave us brains which we can use to discern the general equity of his commandments in our contemporary setting.

Then we can see that taking drugs violates the principles of being of sound mind, caring for our bodies as the temple of God, using medicines to heal and not to harm, being responsible to God and not a law unto ourselves, and so on and so on.

Spreading any kind of virus is violating the principle of loving your neighbour as yourself.

Pork is unclean perhaps because the pig is an omnivore and anything even partly carniverous would ingest blood.

There seem to be a lot of things you don’t realise about the Bible, Rox. Why not read it through with an open mind. At least then you will be better informed and less liable to look like a chump and a boor.

  6. After read the comments above, I just had to say some thing. Of course homosexuality is a sin as is adultery, murder, coveting your neighbours stuf etc.etc. we all know the Ten Commandments and no one measures up we were taught that in Sunday school. But there are particular things that God hates, yes I know that is a bad word and no one wants to hear it but he says he hates it and they are child sacrifice which is abortion, homosexuality and witchcraft, these things over the eons have been wrong in the every day persons mind until now and yes they didn’t always deal with people who did these things with kindness, but now we have embraced all these behaviours that God hates and deny that he says he hates them then we wonder why our western first world lives are rapidly going down the toilet. God will not help us to prosper while we spit in his face.

And by the way the Old Testament speaks about not mixing certain fibres and foods. Read genesis 6 and although no one believes this today it is none the less true. God forbids the genetic mixing of species, and the result of the mixing of angelic and human DNA resulted in the flood of Noah to wipe every contaminated species .
Off the face of the planet, Scientist today are contaminating species with animal and human hybrids they also are contaminating the plant world. So we can expect Gods anger to speak very loudly to us. These Old Testament rules are an object lesson about not breeding out of species.

    • Susan, you are absolutely right. There could be no NT or Gospels without the Old, there could be no church without Israel.

Perhaps HM The Queen questioned these laws when they were brought to her for signing. In any event she will have to answer for these sinful laws come the judgement day or when she goes to meet Our Lord.

She has been blessed with sixty-two years on the Throne and has had three jubilees in which to speak out and call the nation back to God, even if this meant a constitutional crisis.

It is my earnest prayer that her eyes may be opened to what is going on, through the laws passed in her name.
