Muslims & Leftists Outraged

This momentous step has been taken, not in a British city, but in Jumilla (pronounced ‘Hu-mi-ya’), in Murcia, near Alicante in south-east Spain. Muslims and the godless left are outraged. Mounir Benjelloun Andaloussi Azhari, president of the Spanish federation of Islamic organisations, labelled the proposal ‘Islamophobic and discriminatory’ when speaking with El País newspaper. ‘They’re not going after other religions, they’re going after ours,’ he said. Now, if he is right, why would that be?

Francisco Lucas, the socialist leader in Murcia, said on X: ‘The PP violates the constitution and puts social cohesion as risk simply in the pursuit of power.’ Ah yes, ‘social cohesion’.

LBC reports that Jumilla has a population of about 27,000 – with roughly 7.5% coming from largely Muslim countries.

Spain ‘the land of Christian people’

The proposal was backed by the conservative People’s Party (PP) and passed with the tacit support of the Vox party. It states: ‘municipal sports facilities cannot be used for religious, cultural or social activities alien to our identity unless organised by the local authority’.

The move comes less than a month after several people were left injured during what the BBC describes as ‘anti-migrant unrest’ in Torre Pacheco, 70 miles south of Jumilla, after a pensioner was reportedly beaten up by three Moroccan men, no doubt in the cause of ‘social cohesion’.

In a dramatic statement, Vox posted on X: ‘Thanks to Vox the first measure to ban Islamic festivals in Spain’s public spaces has been passed. Spain is and will be forever the land of Christian people.’

Exod 23:13 And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.

Spain’s religious history

Muslim forces from North Africa, the Moors, invaded Spain in 711. According to the BBC, which, naturally, presents the conquest in a positive light, ‘in seven years (they) conquered the entire Iberian peninsula’. This was during the ‘the Age of the Saints’, which some call the ‘Dark Ages’. It was a time of great learning and evangelism in Europe, especially in the British Isles. The Iberian peninsula was however the province of tribes of Visigoths. There was of course no such entity as ‘Spain’.

Consequently, it took five hundred years, until the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa, near Bilbao in northern Spain, fought on 16th July 1212, for the ‘Reconquista’ by Christian forces to begin. EBSCO reports: ‘King Alfonso VIII of Castile sought support for a crusade, resulting in a coalition of around 130,000 troops, including a mix of Spanish and northern European forces.’ At Tolosa, the Christian army defeated the forces of Muhammad al-Nāsir, the Moroccan emir.

The Muslim armies were driven further south over the course of two decades until the Siege of Córdoba (1236) and the Siege of Seville (1248) in the southern province of Andalusia pushed the Muslims into the enclave of Granada in the south. Two hundred and fifty years later, on 2nd January 1492, Muhammad XII of Granada (aka Boadbil) surrendered Granada and the Alhambra palace to married couple Isabella, Queen of Castile, and Ferdinand, King of Aragon. Finally, the entire Iberian peninsula was controlled by the united ‘Catholic Monarchs’.

Andalusia today

Even today, Muslims view the Reconquista and the fall of Granada as a disaster, painting a glowing picture of Islamic rule.

After conquest by the Moors in the eighth century, Jumilla itself remained as an Arab town called Yumil-la until it was retaken by forces led by Alfonso X of Castile in the mid-13th century. The Treaty of Alcaraz was signed in 1243. Jumilla lies 211 miles to the north-east of Granada, the only part of Spain subsequently remaining under Moorish control until 1492 when they were eventually driven out.

With Muslims smarting over the loss of ‘Al-Andalus’ to this day, it would be no wonder if some would see themselves in southern Spain as engaged in a form of jihad to recover ‘their’ land. The Ayatollah-inspired Islamic Human Rights Commission, described by the Henry Jackson Society as ‘institutionally pro-terrorist and anti-Semitic’, has begun holding a week-long ‘Critical Muslim Studies Summer School’ in Granada in June every year. That in itself is provocative, so would it not be understandable, given their history, if Spanish people were to view the young Muslim men coming in to their towns and cities right now as modern-day invaders?

The religious dimension

The history of the Iberian peninsula is as driven by its religious dimension as that of the United Kingdom. Our post-reformation Protestant heritage came under threat from Roman Catholic Spain and the Spanish Armada in 1588. The Gunpowder Plot of 5th November 1609 is remembered in Britain to this day. But in Spain Christianity is identified with Catholicism and it is the Taking of Granada in 1492 which is commemorated in that city every year on 2nd January.

What if the Roman Catholics of Spain, learning from their history, now have something to teach constitutionally-Protestant Britain? Should our leaders not take off their multicultural blinkers and recognise that Islam and its practitioners bring a similar present-day threat to the United Kingdom?

If our elite woke up to the spiritual dimension they would accept that the sights of the majority of Muslims in our midst are set on a greater goal than assimilation and integration. In response, they would stop giving in to Muslim demands, end the provision of halal food in prisons and schools, disband the sharia courts, clamp down hard on anti-semitism (rather than free speech), deport the illegal migrants and criminals and encourage Muslims to leave this nation. They may think they are using the Muslims to destroy our Christian heritage, but Islam will destroy them, ‘British values’ and all.

Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Proclaim the King of kings!

Prov 25:5 Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.

Above all, our leaders should proclaim that the United Kingdom is a constitutionally-Christian country and that is how it will stay. If the Muslim migrant invasion really is the Lord’s judgment for our manifold sins (and who knows how many crossing the Channel are terrorist ‘sleepers’?), a reaffirmation that Jesus Christ is Sovereign over our land will be the necessary first step to national repentance and seeking the mercy of the King of kings. We may not have long. If the next Prime Minister does not ‘Do God’ and confess Christ it could be game over for ‘this green and pleasant land’:

Judges 10:13 Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.

Jer 26:13 Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you.

PRAY: That the Lord will put his spirit into the hearts of those aspiring to lead this nation, or raise up a man after his own heart:

1Sam 13:14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.

(P.S: The Muslim festivcal ‘Eid al-Adha’ commemorates Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah. But Muslims do not just have the wrong deity, they have the wrong son. They think it was Ishmael whom Abraham was about to sacrifice, not Isaac, as named in the Bible in Genesis 22.)

    • Thanks John. The alternative is an Islamic takeover, and what price ‘freedom of speech’ then? The relevant articles in the ECHR are:
ARTICLE 9: Freedom of thought, conscience and religion.
      ARTICLE 10: Freedom of expression.
ARTICLE 11: Freedom of assembly and association.
Each of them carries a proviso that the right may be limited for public protection, for example in Article 9:
‘shall be subject only to such limitations as are prescribed by law and are necessary in a democratic society in the interests of public safety, for the protection of public order, health or morals, or for the protection of the rights and freedoms of others.’
In the case of Islam, that is easily demonstrated.
