17 EU REFERENDUM AND VIDEOS

Why is the EU Parliament Tower deliberately built to look unfinished, afer Pieter Bruegel's painting of the Tower of Babel?
Why is the EU Parliament Tower deliberately built to look unfinished, afer Pieter Bruegel’s painting of the Tower of Babel?

Christian Voice always viewed the UK’s membership of the European Union as incompatible with our constitutional status as a nation under God.

With the referendum scheduled for June 2016, we wanted to examine the spiritual dimension of the EU. So in March 2016 our National Director embarked on a whistle-stop tour of European capitals.

First he flew to Strasbourg, which considers itself the European capital because the Parliament is sited there (as well as in Brussels). But why was the Strasbourg parliament tower deliberately built to look ‘unfinished’? The resulting video, ‘The European Union’s Tower of Babel’, has to date been seen over 54,000 times on YouTube.

Next up was Brussels. Why did the EU decide to adopt the legend of Europa being carried off by Zeus disguised as a bull and raped in Crete? Where do they want to take the people of Europe and why? What does Revelation 17 have to say about it? ‘The European Union’s Woman on the Beast’ was published in April and to date has over 53,000 views.

In Rome, Stephen sought out the actual venue where the Treaty of Rome was signed. He found it in a palace built on the ruins of Jupiter’s Temple. No-one had previously connected up these particular dots. Stephen published ‘The European Union’s Pagan Foundation’ in May 2016. It has since been viewed more than 13,000 times.

Two further videos followed. ‘The European Union’s Roman Empire’ examined EU founder Paul-Henri Spaak’s idea of a new Roman empire. In ‘European Union – Does the Lord keep the city?’ Stephen addressed security concerns and called for national repentance.

Our members prayers for the UK to vote ‘Leave’ were answered on 23rd June 2016.

18 STANDING FOR PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS

Christian Voice prays for Christian communities overseas, whether they are in a majority-Christian country under pressure from its neighbours such as Armenia, or in the minority, such as amongst the Palestinians, or in Pakistan, Syria, Sudan, Iran or Iraq.

Outside the Sudanese Embassy in 2014
Outside the Sudanese Embassy in 2014

We brought people together outside the Sudanese Embassy in London in June 2014 to stand up for Meriam Ibrahim, imprisoned for her Christian faith. In answer to prayer, Meriam was released.

We have supported Pakistani Christians at the Pakistan High Commission, stood for our Christian brothers and sisters outside the Egyptian Embassy in London and witnessed for Christians in Iraq outside the Iraqi Embassy in London. On that occasion the Iraqi Ambassador came out and crossed the road to assure us of his country’s respect for its Christian community.

That witness came in the aftermath of the British and US war in Iraq. We opposed it in prayer and our members wrote to their MPs. As we predicted, the war has all but destroyed Christianity and her ancient communities in that land. We also opposed the UK funding and arming Islamic jihadists in Syria. The media portrayed that conflict as ‘Assad bad’ but we knew it was not as simple as that. Christian Voice never accepts at face value what we are told by the mainstream media. We look behind the news. In March 2014, for example, we published our research showing the involvement of financier George Soros with that year’s Maidan Square uprising in Ukraine.

As the Bible says in Psalm 120:7, we are for peace. We pray for the UK government to promote peace in the world, not war, because we read:

Matt 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

19 ISRAEL

Christian Voice supports the state of Israel and its right to exist and defend itself. In November 2017 we celebrated the centenary of the Balfour Declaration. We traced through the years the miraculous events which led to the foundation of the Jewish state of Israel.

We also remembered General Allenby’s use of dozens of planes to drop propaganda, scaring the Ottoman Turks into withdrawal from Jerusalem in December 1917. The Prophet Isaiah knew nothing of aircraft, but that is how Edmund Allenby interpreted his prophecy, read by the Chaplain, by the grace of God, at morning prayer on 8th December 1917:

Isa 31:5 As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; passing over he will preserve it.

So we marked how General Allenby captured Jerusalem without firing a shot and the poignant moment he walked in through the Jaffa Gate on 11th December 1917, refusing to use his horse because his Saviour was the only one who should ride into the Holy City.

20 NANOSERMON CHANNEL

In 2017 we launched a ‘Nanosermon’ Channel on YouTube, holding a series of short videos where our National Director explains the theology which drives us under six general headings.

‘Obedience’ urges individuals and nations to follow the laws of God and see the blessings. ‘Encouragement’ is what Christians always need. ‘Prayer’ and how to get prayer answered is another heading, while under ‘Polemic’, Stephen explains difficult passages of the Bible. ‘Prophetic’ is where we see what God says about the issues of our day and finally, under ‘Psalm 119’, we are working verse-by-verse through that great Psalm.
