I’m surprised that tree-huggers and suchlike get into prison in sufficient numbers to make this worthwhile, but they certainly can’t depend on Christian chaplains to cater for their spiritual needs.
I suspect that Odinists keen to get into Valhalla can be a bit tougher than tree-huggers, but no tougher than Christian murderers. You can’t really use prison as a place where captive pagans of various kinds are to be converted to Christianity, anymore than enforced conversion of Muslims would be tolerated (individuals being converted by their chums is different, and the prison population of Odinists increases due to this as well).
What else can they do ? The ruling on what is recognised as a “religion” has been made, and they can only stick to it. If they decided that (say) Mormons or Sunni Muslims were not genuine, there would be an outcry. The little words “pro rata” are important !
