A fortnight ago, in a video, we looked at the House of Commons voting record of the four contenders for the UK Labour Party leadership. We saw that Andy Burnham and Jeremy Corbyn had small things going for them.
But what are the candidates’ positions on Israel? In particular, and as he now seems certain to be elected, what is Jeremy Corbyn’s stance?
And what should be a Christian response?
In this new video, we ask – and answer – those questions. You can comment about it there or here.
Psalm 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. (KJV)

I think the question should be: “Who is best for the British people.”
Israel is a foreign country.
Should we also be asking, “Who is best for Iran, or China, or Brazil, etc. or even the Palestinian people?”
Ah, but as ‘they shall prosper’ who love Jerusalem, who is best for Israel has significance for our nation too.
Anyway, we tried to answer your question in the first video we did on the leadership contest.
This video is in response to questions people raised on that one.
Actually, “who is best for Syria ?” would be a good question, because Syrians are turning up in Europe in large numbers. Most of them , and most Europeans, would prefer it really if they could stay happily at home.
Agree. The blame for the Syria crisis lies for me with the men who encouraged the rebels in the first instance. And at the forefront, step forward, William, Lord Hague.
Hang on, Stephen. The verse you quote says to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. This is not the same as supporting the modern state of Israel and its policies.
I should say that without a strong state of Israel there will no peace for Jerusalem.
I don’t know so much. If there was a very weak state of Israel and Jerusalem was taken over by a new flourishing Palestine, it might be peaceful. Or if it was taken over by the United Nations, it might be peaceful.
Dream on!
The Bible says: Those who bless you I will bless, those who curse you I will curse – Genesis 12 v 3. It has been proved that when a person or nation stands up for Israel there is blessing to follow but, conversely, when such attack Israel (as the bearded bolshevick Corbyn as done) then curses follow.
