J.C. Penney stock has crashed following news of gay ‘marriage’ support.
Since February when the company made homosexual activist Ellen DeGeneres its new spokesperson, their stock has dropped 50%, achieving what is known as ‘junk’ status.
In February stock was at $41.32/share, while this month it is selling at $20.02/share.
The destruction of the company is attributable both to prayer and to the boycott campaign among those who were offended by the company’s pro-homosexual posturing, particularly the American Family Association’s advocacy group OneMillionMoms.com.
In February Monica Cole, director of OneMillionMoms, predicted that Penney’s campaign might backfire since only an estimated 1.7 percent of the population is homosexual. (See ‘Family group challenges retailer’s use of lesbian icon.’)
“Rather than build on the faith-based traditions of founder James Cash Penney,” the AFA commented in a press release yesterday, “Johnson has abandoned family values and taken the company into a financial tailspin by embracing social activism. Families are the backbone of Penney’s existence. As long as it pushes homosexual marriage, families will go elsewhere.”
The AFA press release gave the following snapshot of the company since its same-sex ‘marriage’ crusade:

I appreciate it doesn’t fit with the impression you’re trying to give of a company in trouble for being godless and due to the intercessionary power of prayer from the faithful, but I can’t help but wonder if the share price fall has anything to do instead with the overhaul by the new JC Penney CEO of every aspect of the business, from pricing to brand.
In fact, the share price dip was predicted because of these changes, which are yet to take hold.
The further drop yesterday came on the back of a court decision to block a proposed deal between JC Penney and Martha Stewart Living.
Share prices in the latter also fell as a result. I suppose that might have been the result of the power of prayer as well, through her association with dirty heathens.
Whilst I am fond of a good story at the best of times, I suspect from reading other posts that there are some people who will buy your account hook, line and sinker. It might be a good idea to at least keep a grip on reality, however tenuous, when you spin your propaganda.
Keep up the good work: the website gives me a great laugh during my working day.
You see, Cass, the sort of CEO who is inept enough to ally his company with an aggressive, controversial cause is also stupid enough to destroy it through other wacky decisions.
Or it could be that God has moved him to take the bad decisions because the CEO is intent on taking J C Penney down the way of wickedness.
Or maybe God is simply executing judgment on the whole company. In which case eveything, like court decisions, planning decisions, executive decisions, all begin to go wrong.
And all because people pray and then do something about it. In this case, shop elsewhere.
One positive thing is that when the staff begin to be laid off, either if they take the line taken in your comment, or if they have a bit more spiritual savvy, they will put the blame firmly on the management, not on God and not on the AFA.
You are absolutely right. God is not mocked – when people support homsexual perversion they bring God’s wrath upon themselves. It has been happening to Tescos, now it’s happened to J C Penney.
One can only hope that God, in His sovereign mercy, will open the eyes of these perverts and their supporters and save their souls.
Hmm.. you do know there’s a recession going on, don’t you? This will have contributed significantly to Penney’s and Tesco’s downturn, just as it has many other companies. Morrison’s in the UK, for example, has seen profits fall without it supporting any homosexual causes whatsoever – how do you account for that?
There is no basis for your conclusion that the two companies mentioned are suffering simply as a direct result of prayer and Christian campaigns.
Nice try, but target missed by miles. Morrisons sales have slipped 1% but their share price has risen. By contrast, Tesco’s sales went down over Christmas while those of the other 3 went up – in the same recession, Neil. Tesco’s stock value went down 20% – and just look at J C Penney.

Surely what every Christian can do is to put companies like Tesco into the category of “least preferred supplier” and let the CEO of such companies know that they have done so and why.
Thank you Stephen for this wonderful encouragement for those of us who pray and intercede about very important issues. It’s great having the statistics posted here so we can see the evidence in black and white. Please be encouraged and know those of us who love the Lord, truly love you and bless you. Not all are as brave as you to speak out like you do, I pray many more will consider becoming Christian Voice members, and may others will consider being brave in the Lord, and daring enough to stand up for what is right and true. We need a real baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire. I am reading books by Andrew Murray a tremendous preacher, who preached over 100 years ago, and I am reading about the old Welsh preacher, Rees Howells. These were all or nothing kind of preachers, and I want to be like that, all or nothing. I want to be 100% committed to Jesus, and I want to assist those who have been falsely accused and imprisoned for being good, holy and righteous. Reveal to us Lord all the things we need to know, so we can pray and intercede, and inform others.
Jackie is right, thank you for what you do Stephen, you work so hard for the Lord.
Please bless us all dear Lord, and help us all to offer our gifts to you in these times of great changes, help us to hear Your voice and to know what You want us to do, and help us not to be afraid of the things happening around us, but to steadfastly hold on to Your promises and to bear witness to You, because You are the Lord Jesus Christ and You rose from the dead, after being put to death, when You did not deserve to die at all, but bore it so that we could all be saved if we choose to repent and accept you into our lives. Help us to always seek what you desire, help us to see things Your way, not to want revenge on those who hurt us but to want repentance from those who do wrong, so that they too can be saved, asw Saul/Paul was.
I agree. It does make a difference. When Tesco’s pulled out of Cancer Research and promoted Gay Pride instead, the word went around and a lot of Christians just boycotted it completely. They were surprised at the impact because there are more of us than they think and we have kids (unlike most gays!!!!) so we buy a lot of food. Our market share is more significant than they bargained for.
After a few months, Tesco UK was in the doldrums and had to retract its policy of supporting Gay Pride. It went back to trying to heal people instead of just making them sick!

You would hardly believe the horrible stuff they are spreading to kids and calling it “safe sex” advice. It’s gross pornography. It threatens their physical, moral and mental health.
