The curse of Gay Pride 2012 continues to dog Tesco.
Tesco’s annual profits have fallen for the first time in almost 20 years, as the UK’s biggest supermarket confirmed it was pulling out of the US.
Despite painstaking research, none of Tesco’s ‘Fresh and Easy’ stores in the USA made a profit, resulting in a £1.2bn write-down.
The Financial Times reports: ‘The charges cut Tesco’s statutory pre-tax profit from £4bn to £1.96bn in the year to February.
Even before the charges, Tesco’s underlying profit fell 14.5 per cent to £3.55bn – the first annual profit fall in 20 years – as it counted the cost of the problems in the UK, which prompted its first profit warning in decades in January 2012.’
Ever since Tesco announced in November 2011 that it was giving £30,000 to the 2012 London Gay Pride Parade, things have gone from bad to worse for the supermarket giant.
Alone of the ‘big four’ it recorded a disastrous Christmas 2011, with its share price down 20% at one point, as decent people boycotted the store and its ‘Big Price Drop’ failed to woo shoppers.
They sacked their UK operations CEO, and then had to contend with an infestation of mice in their flagship Tesco Metro in Bedford Street in London’s Covent Garden.
A Tesco manageress in Gravesend thought it would be a good idea to report a solitary Christian protestor handing out leaflets outside her store to the police. Tesco were humiliated when Raj Bhachoo was completely exonerated by Dartford Magistrates in March 2012.
What else could go wrong for Tesco and its investors? Watching the company had already become for many of them like watching a slow-motion car crash. Talking of which, Tesco’s online second-hand car sales venture promptly ran out of petrol and closed in April 2012.
Tesco now has a whole section in its online book store headed Financial Crises and Disasters. At the last look-up it was headed by ‘A Colossal Failure of Common Sense’ by Larry S. McDonald and Patrick Robinson.
A colossal failure of common sense might be what drove Tesco bosses to give in to the demands of their in-store homosexual lobby group headed by Nick Lansley, Head of Research and Development at Tesco.com, a militant homosexual atheist activist who once videoed himself reading James Kirkup’s blasphemous poem ‘The Love That Dares to Speak its Name’.
But all the ill-fated decisions Tesco bosses have made over the last few years are now coming home to roost.

re “‘Fresh and Easy’ stores in the USA made a profit, resulting in a £1.2m write-down.”
Was it £1.2m or £1.2bn ?
bn, thanks, corrected.
You have not mentioned that they have just changed their policy on genetically modified food, the chicken that they now will be selling will have been fed on genetically modified soya, in lab tests conducted in America third and fourth generation rats are sterile after being fed on this rubbish, so for me its just another reason not to shop at tesco.
They need to be avoided for halal too. I’m glad our Christmas 2011 boycott reaped results.
It’s a case of them reaping what they have sown–pretty much like the politically-correct thought police have caused this country to reap what it has sown.
So pleased about this. I prayed that Tesco would be visibly punished for promoting sexual deviancy. Deo gratias. Long live their decline.
it is good to see prayers answered and know GOD is in control
i have one query
how come there is a link to tesco online store on this page ?
kind of defeats the issue don’t you think ?
maybe you were not aware
There is a link so people can see for themselves.
Not much fun for the employees if they decline, nor indeed for the shareholders, some of whom are probably pensioners who rely on their saving to have have something like a decent standard of living.
Is anybody seriously claiming that Tescos had a plague of mice sent to them at Covent Garden because they contributed to the Gay Pride Parade ? God moves in a mysterious way .
Don’t worry, Roger, the demise of Tesco will mean thousands of jobs elsewhere, and I suspect many of the shareholders have already put their money to better use.
Re the mice, are you saying God could not do that, or that he would not do it?
The shareholders can only sell their shares, and if the price of the shares is lower, they will have made a loss. The fact is, shares do not cease to exist . All the shares still do belong to somebody, and those shareholders become increasingly unfortunate as Tesco declines.
I was asking if anybody thought that God had done it in this case. Do you think it is significant that Tesco was not founded as a Christian company ?
I am not so sure as you seem to be that all the employees of Tesco would find it easy to a get a job somewhere else.
My advice is sell.
I tried to post a comment earlier, but I’m guessing my views, which conflict with the dogma spouted here, will not be tolerated. The world is a beautiful place. Its just sad that we as people are so ugly to one another. Throughout the course of human history groups of people have done their best to separate people into groups. Religion, race, sex, sexual persuasion, wealth. Doesn’t it all come down to one group trying to control the others?
Do you really think God cares about whether a grocery store employs homosexuals? I beg you all to join the world of reason and intellect, instead of the world of self righteous biggotry
Hmmm, didn’t Jesus teach not to judge, and for the church not to be used as politics? I could have sworn I read that Jesus said “Love them, like I have loved you”, speaking about other peoples. Homosexualtiy has been proven again and again that it is not a choice but genetic. There have been hundreds of species of animals that have homosexual tendecies, such as dolphins. It surprises me how such “good” christians are so hateful and full of spite for certain groups of people. They aren’t hurting you by being gay. My disbelief in your god doesn’t hurt you either, but it does seem that your intolerances set humans back centuries
Joshua,
Jesus also taught ‘Judge with righteous judgement’.
Where is your evidence that homosexuality is genetic? I have met a former g** rights fanatic who gave his life to Christ and he now supports Christian-based healing and therapy for homosexuals who wish to change their orientation.
(I hate to use that word ‘g**’ as, when I was small, being g** meant something more positive, ie happy, cheerful).
How can you claim that animals have homosexual tendencies?
Ashley
I’m sorry, I wrote a claim without backing it up. On the other hand, how ironic that a Christian asks for evidence or a scientific source. Frankly, I’m disturbed that a poorly sourced and translated book from 2-3000 years ago, is the basis for hating people because they are different than you. This is the same book that was used to justify slavery and the discrimination of black people for hundreds of years. I still for the life of me can’t believe that so many people of the world hold onto this book. Would a god really let man write his book, in a now dead language, and think this would be suitable way to spread the word?
As a society we now look down our noses at people who dislike others based on the color of their skin, but 50 years ago, that was normal and acceptable. We are now trying to go through the same process with homosexuals. If you honestly believe every gay person in the world woke up one morning and thought “you know, I want to be different and join one of the most persecuted groups at the moment, because that would be cool”? Why would someone need “gay therapy”?
I write these posts because, I’d like to think someone will honestly read them, and see my reasoning and start to think for themselves. Once again, the original burden of proof is on the religious. If you can give me evidence for the existence of god, without referencing the bible, I will convert today. Show me proof that Jesus of Nazareth was the son of god, without using the bible. I’ll accept eye witness accounts of his miracles written by observers, which are not recounted in the bible.
Ironic that Christians want scientific evidence? Not at all. Christians started scientific discovery and if you are referring to the alleged conflict between science and religion talked up by atheist biologists, there isn’t one. It’s in their mind.
I love your chronological snobbery. The Bible is unreliable rubbish to you because it is old and written in the languages of the time. Stay away from ancient history programmes is my advice. All those hieroglyphics will really wind you up.
Words like ‘hate’, ‘hatred’ and ‘hating’ have lost their currency through overuse.
Homosexuals as ‘one of the most persecuted groups at the moment’? Excuse me? Are you having laugh? They have their feet right under the tables in the corridors of power.
I welcome your posts precisely for the reason you state, that someone will read them, see the complete lack of any logic or reason in them, see the intellectual vacuity of atheism, realise that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and trust in Jesus Christ.
