Antony Jenkins, Chief Executive of Barclays, is giving cash to Stonewall as they call their opponents ‘bigots’

Two banks and a leading firm of accountants are sponsoring a homosexual group as it goes about its annual name-calling exercise.

Barclays Bank, Coutts Bank and Price Waterhouse Cooper (PWC) are named as sponsors of Stonewall, the ‘gay rights’ lobby group, on an advertisement for this year’s awards dinner, which includes an award for ‘Bigot of the Year’.

The homosexual group’s awards dinner takes place at the Victoria and Albert Museum on Thursday 1st November 2012 and is likely to be the focus of a street witness.

The awards are mainly to applaud people who have advanced the homosexual cause in some way, and are being sponsored by major firms.  Barclays Bank are sponsoring the ‘sports award’, Coutts Bank are funding ‘writer of the year’ and PWC are sponsoring ‘hero of the year’

The Earl of Home, Chairman of Coutts, which is sponsoring the Stonewall awards

But Stonewall are not satisfied with congratulating those who have advanced their cause.  They have to insult their opponents.

So among the awards is an anti-award called ‘Bigot of the Year’ intended to insult and vilify people particularly opposed to the gay rights agenda. Those shortlisted this year are Christian politician Alan Craig, the Ugandan Ethics and Integrity Minister, Simon Lokodo, Lord Maginnis, Cardinal Keith O’Brien and Archbishop Philip Tartaglia.

Previous ‘nominees’ and ‘winners’ have included the Bishop of Hereford, Rt Rev Anthony Priddis, Northern Ireland politician Iris Robinson, journalist Jan Moir, Chris Grayling MP, the Earl of Devon, Lillian Ladele, Frederick Forsyth, A.A. Gill of The Sunday Times, Rt Rev Arthur Roche, hotelier Susanne Wilkinson, Melanie Phillips, Scottish entrepreneur Sir Brian Souter, Bill Walker, MSP and Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice.

In response, Alan Craig said: “The Bigot of the Year Award is a vicious name-calling Stonewall annual event that reflects more on the donor than the recipient.

Philip Powell is Chairman and Senior Partner of Price Waterhouse Coopers, sponsors of the Stonewall awards.

“By attempting to bully, intimidate, humiliate and generate hatred of individuals through the award, Stonewall fully justifies the Gaystapo tag which I gave the organisation and for which apparently I have been nominated.”

Mr Craig continued: “Nonetheless if I win the award over the other candidates and if Stonewall invite me, and permit me without harassment to offer a proper acceptance speech, I plan to attend their awards dinner and ceremony”.

Alan Craig’s gauntlet is unlikely to be taken up.  In previous years Stonewall have never found the courtesy or the courage to invite to their dinner any of those shortlisted for ‘Bigot of the Year’.

Stephen Green added: ‘Bullies never like it when someone stands up to them.  Or perhaps social intercourse is just not one of Stonewall’s strong points.’

Last year, the Nationwide Building Socety gave £60,000 to Stonewall for the dinner (which did not stop the greedy lobby group from charging £180 a ticket) and they gave £5,000 as a prize to the ‘Community Group of the Year’.  Nationwide have pulled out of sponsoring any more Stonewall events following adverse publicity.

In an email, Mark McLane, Barclays Director of Global Diversity and Inclusion, said:

‘As part of what is a positive longstanding relationship with Stonewall we were approached to see if we would be willing to sponsor a category for the 2012 Awards, which we agreed to do – the Sports Personality of the Year – on the understanding that the awards are a celebration of diversity and positive impact in our communities.

‘I have recently been made aware of the inclusion of a ‘Bigot of the Year’ category in the awards. Let me be absolutely clear that Barclays does not support that award category either financially, or in principle and have informed Stonewall that should they decide to continue with this category we will not support this event in the future. To label any individual so subjectively and pejoratively runs contrary to our view on fair treatment, and detracts from what should be a wholly positively focused event.’

To date, Coutts and PWC have refused to condemn the ‘bigot’ award’.

Stephen Green said: ‘Barclays have not yet pulled out of Stonewall’s event this year despite their welcome condemnation of the ‘bigot’ award.  They are in our view still associated with Stonewall’s name-calling.  But the refusal of Coutts and PWC to condemn the ‘bigot’ award is quite staggering.’

We the undersigned believe that the homosexual Stonewall group’s ‘Bigot of the Year’ award is a shameless piece of bullying and name-calling.

We are aghast that Barclays Bank, Coutts Bank and Price Waterhouse Cooper (PWC) are named as sponsors of Stonewall’s awards dinner on the website page for this year’s event on 1st November, at which a public figure will be insulted and vilified as ‘bigot of the year’.

We call on Barclays Bank, Coutts Bank and PWC to stop sponsoring this aggressive, immature and divisive group forthwith.

  1. As this year’s nominees for Stonewall’s Bigot of the Year award, Alan Craig, Simon Lokodo, Lord Maginnis, Cardinal Keith O’Brien and Archbishop Philip Tartaglia are following a distinguished line of truth-tellers. Long ago, too, the Roman soldiers thought they were mocking Jesus when they crowned Him with thorns, while inadvertently proclaiming the truth.

  2. I cannot understand how the government excercises different standards and rules for different groups of people. Fo example, If a christian group had a ‘bigot of the year’ award it would be hauled before the judges for discrimination. Prejudice is a sign of our times yet the government seems blind to it. I think any bigot of the year should wear his award with pride, heaven will be cheering him or her on.

  3. I am horrified that the above instutions have aligned themselves with that obnoxious grouping Stonewell whose aim in life is to besmirch the characters of all who disagree with rheir lifestyle .
I must say that their attitude does not surprise me in the least, but I do believe that their continued campaign to have society regard their life style as the norm will not succeed in the long run.
Having said all that I do have sympathy with their lifestyle which I believe can be corrected.

  4. I’m very pleased that Christian Voice have had enough courage and Godly wisdom to stand up against the Stonewall group. Stonewall are the real bigots, their vile attacks on decent Christian leaders is a clear testimony to that. All I can suggest is that, we Christians who know better, pray that they turn before it’s too late.

    • Stonewall aren’t bigots, you idiot. They are simply countering the centuries of hatred and discrimination that Christians and the church have directed to the LGBT community and the tiresome attacking of every bit of progressive legislation for our equality. It may seem like discrimination to you because religion has historically enjoyed a priviliged status and advantage for years without any resistance until recently when people decided that their sex lives were their OWN business.

        • Sorry for uber late reply, but no, not like Jimmy Savile, because the sex was not consensual and did very real harm to many human beings. Please do not keep comparing people who have private consensual adult relations with one another to peadophiles who actively abuse the other person for their own sexual gratification and power.

          • But Jimmy Savile seduced or groomed willing victims, just like paedophiles, just like adult homosexuals initiating adolescents. He did not physically abduct them from the streets. Using the force of his personality and position he imposed his will on theirs.

  5. Let me ask your opinion. Is it good or bad when two girls living as a “family” take a child which have no relatives and live as a family? I am not asking about “living together” – the question is that on one hand child have new parents but on the other hand this child will have imprinting of the unusual kind..

  6. Those who do not approve of the nasty fanatics of the Stonewall
Group and their bullying should hold an alternative party for Alan Craig on the
same day and show our support for him. There would be no harm in
inviting all the other people who are nominated. If Alan gets the
prize, we should congratulate him and celebrate in our own way. Whoever gets it, we
should toast them and invite the press to see what we are doing. We
could take digital photographs and send them to the press too.
Best place to hold it would probably be London. The
party need not be an overtly Christian event. Anyone who objects to
being kicked around by the Gaystapo would be welcome. You never know –
Rupert Everett might turn up. He is their latest victim!

  7. I work at Barclays, their Diversity and Inclusion agenda is promoted through every channel possible and rammed down our throats at every opportunity. This sponsorship is disgusting and a kick in the teeth to the thousands of Christians who work in the company. We make a stand where we can but doesn’t surprise me, the company is a massive supporter of Stonewall and it’s anti-Christian agenda. A few of us recently refused to pay for a dress down day in one of the regional offices that was partially in aid of a gay charity but the company actively rewards employees who support such a cause through their ‘woman of the year awards’, a sexist diversity award that often includes members of the LGBT committee forwarding their cause.

  8. Incredible. What kind of competition does not invite the nominees, let alone the finalists? Then to make a decision and not have the winner accept the title and give them a speech. What are they hiding, is it possibly some sort of inner guilt, self doubt.? Certainly sounds like a fear of some sort to me. Pathetic business moves, once the pink pound is on board, they will move on, but rest assured this will be back to bite them. Hey if one is dignified, polite, and constructive, and without the need to resort to name calling and bullying in opposing this immorality, it is not a bad title to hold.

  9. Luke 17:20-37 is very pertinent to these issues. God will not be mocked. Our (Christian) society is being hijacked in order to reprise the life-style of Sodom. And it is of no surprise that those organisations involved with the peoples’ eating, drinking, buying and selling, planting and building (vs 27 and 28) are becoming allied to those who laugh at God’s values.

  10. Why shouldn’t Stonewall point up those who are bigoted? (Bigot = ‘a prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from his own’). Christian groups do exactly the same – Peter Tatchell is often castigated on this very site, for example.

The text you’re looking for is the one that begins ‘do unto others’. If you and other ‘nominees’ don’t like your bigotry pointed out, then don’t throw stones yourselves.

  11. I have emailed the CEO of Barclay’s expressing my dismay at their support of the bigot award for good upstanding and honourable people of God. I have also enclosed a prayer for him, prayed from my heart for his salvation. The Lord has asked us to pray for those who act wickedly against us, and I believe the more we pray for them lovingly, who knows what the Lord may do!

  12. Stonewall, the fake charity lobbying group that has almost everyone eating from its hand. Politicians from all parties say “how high” when Stonewall says jump and Corporations and Public Bodies are obsessed with getting into Stonewall’s top 100 list of employers.
Please see this link to see how the taxpayer supports this fake charity. http://fakecharities.org/2009/05/charity-1101255/
Is it right that taxpayers should be paying for a hateful and intolerant bigot of the year ceremony?
Notice the upside down pentagram on Stonewall’s logo too but we already knew they were satanic.

  13. Dear Stephen

I am a member of Christian Voice and appalled at the e-mail you have sent me. I am 73yrs old and have been with Barclays since I was 16. Somebody at Barclays obviously is sympathetic to the principle of homosexulity. This is abhorent in the sight of God, according to His Word, herefore my wife and I have decided to come out of Barclays. Can you help me with formulating an appropiate letter, and also a suggestion of a good principled bank.

I do appreciate your help in this matter,

Yours in Christ. John R. Harris.

    • Just briefly set out the facts given above and say that as a result of Barclays supporting sodomy and the redefinition of marriage you are withdrawing your account. We can only suggest the Salvation Army’s Reliance Bank as an honourable alternative to the High Street.

  14. To be fair no believer in Christ should seriously be supprised about what is happening in our time. Jesus said, that if the world hates you, remember it hated me first (jhn 15:18). The Gay agenda is part of a much bigger worldwide agenda to subjegate the masses with thought control, instiling fear of the authorities. Having your own opinion is becoming forbidden; making it impossible to talk against something you know is wrong for fear of repercussion – its called cultural Marxism – something most people in power now know all to well about. I’m not talking about using vile spewing or threatening vitriolic hatred; you know, the type of language most Gay activists readily employ and reserve for Christians and those who merely disagree with them, and reserve the right to do in a demecratic country – I say democratic in the loosest of terms. But just in disagreeing with a stated opinion, you are somehow a bigot and shafted to the other end of the spectrum and branded an extremist – pot calling kettle black, me thinks!

Haven’t you ever wondered why many of the so called leaders of the ‘free world’, (Lol) – cant say that with a straight face – who all tend to be married, (to the opporsite sex I hasten to add), openly endorse the Gay agenda. Because they have to! they are all part of a club which is Satanic to the core, but if you want to get ahead then you must adhere to the party line, that means… Gay equals good – if you want to keep your job, your standing, position in life, finances roling in, favours secured and security then you get with the programme. Satan knows what hes doing and is building a society of conforming gerbils who will do his bidding and reform his NWO empire – the last world empire was Roman, which persecuted christians to as I recall.

Bigot of the Year seems the hieght of flattery as far as I am concerned and the recipient whoever he or she turns out to be, should be glad that they are in a good place as far as Gods righteous standards are concerned. Name calling, denigrating peoples character through spite, malice, venomous hostility are the character traits of the evil who will be rewarded when Christ returns; and from the looks of things, that may well be very, very, very soon!

  15. I am confused by this.
” Satan knows what he’s doing and is building a society of conforming gerbils who will do his bidding …”
But if Mark knows this, surely God knows this ? As as God is omnipotent, surely he can do something about it ?
Or is it part of his Plan not to ?

    • Dear Roger,
Matt 9:37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
So you see that God wants us to be part of what he is doing on earth. He could send the labourers himself. He could deal with Cameron et al himself. But he wants us to be part of his victory by praying into these situations and witnessing to the truth of the Gospel and righteousness.
Last night I read Psalm 119 all the way through, aloud. I recommend you grab yourself a spare twenty minutes and do the same.

      • Dear Stephen,
Sorry, but after allowing plenty of time to study your reply, I am still confused. Are you saying that God is so keen on our participation in his plan, that if we fail to participate adequately, he is prepared to let Satan win ? I don’t see that this is actually there in either of the scriptures you quote.

You seem to be decidedly opposed to the Conservative party, at least under its present leadership. Who then should Christians vote for ?

        • Don’t worry, God is working his purpose out. Satan won’t win in the end. I’ve read the book. I know how it ends. But in the meantime, whether Satan has his way on this matter and that, this person and that, depends on each individual Christian stepping up to the mark, praying, reading and obeying the word of God, evangelising and witnessing to the truth of the Gospel.

Christians need in my humble opinion to vote for a God-fearing candidate. They are found in the major parties, in parties in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, in UKIP and in the Christian Party and Christian Peoples Alliance, to name a few. And if there is no God-fearing candidate? Well, someone once said ‘Don’t vote, it just encourages them.’

    • Rox writes:
      “I am confused by this.
“Satan knows what he’s doing and is building a society of conforming gerbils who will do his bidding …”
But if Mark knows this, surely God knows this ? As as God is omnipotent, surely he can do something about it ?
Or is it part of his Plan not to ? ”

We need to consider the whole counsel (Plan) of God – God IS sovereign & he is well able to destroy the world & everything & everyone in as he did by the flood. He will, when Jesus returns in glory for resurrection & judgement. See e.g. 2 Peter 3, where he in effect anticipates the discussion on this thread. See the previous chapter, & Jude for their writings on the sins of Sodom. Approval of the “gay” agenda by politicians & banks & others will not frustrate God’s plans.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us,[b] not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

He graciously allowed the antediluvians 120 years to repent, & provided the ark. Only 8 were saved.

He graciously gave the Israelites 40 years after their rejection of Jesus, & by the Apostles & resident Christians called them to repentance & salvation in the name of Jesus. Many thousands did respond to the Gospel, & those who remained in the city & surrounding area took warning from Jesus’ words in Matthew 24, & fled before the AD 70 destruction. That generation suffered the judgement of a Holy God, & did not escape by rejecting the message & killing the messengers.

The Stonewall folk are defying God, & will suffer his judgement except they repent. Those who tacitly follow them will also suffer judgement. Mocking God is futile.

Satan’s power by destroyed by the cross & resurrection of Jesus, his defiance of God is futile, but Jesus’ victory did not automatically save anyone. Man’s nature is corrupt, & all mankind is corrupt & in rebellion against God – the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one. We have a Gospel, that sinners should repent & believe in Jesus:
Acts 15 …‘I am Jesus, … 26:17 I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now[a] send you, 18 to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’

  16. I am surprised that we are not surprised at the attitude of the Banks afterall look what they have done to the country They are an anathma in the country like the so called leaders of our society and government. People who have voted for this type of person should be ashamed of themselves.

    • But who else can we vote for ? The government is made up of the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats, whereas it so happened that most of the banking disasters happened under the Labour Government. Even if you voted for a local MP who was particularly ethical in his approach to banking and everything else, you knew that it was the leaders of his party who would form the government if they won.

  17. I worry about such an important and difficult subject as homophobia becoming so polarised by the slanging match between Christian Voice and Stonewall.
I don’t think this is the right thing for Christians to do. See Matthew 5:44
    Simon Keyes
St Ethelburga’s Centre for Reconciliation and Peace

    • ‘Inportant and difficult subject as homophobia’? You cannot be serious. It’s neither important nor difficult, it’s a ridiculous made-up word with inconsequential etymology designed to browbeat opponents of sodomy.
Opposing evil is not a ‘slanging match’ it is commanded by scripture:
Prov 28:4 They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.
For those who do not know it, Matt 5:44 says:
      Matt 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Stonewall are not our enemies, they are the enemies of Almighty God. We shall pray for them to repent as we pray against them and resist them emulating our Saviour:
Jas 4:6b and 1Pet 5:5b God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
      See: ‘Being too gracious

    • Rom 9:7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. 8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed
Eph 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

  18. An interesting and informative article and I was even considering signing your petition, but it have not done so as it was poorly expressed. This is particularly found in your use of language referring to Stonewall as ‘aggressive, immature and divisive’. Such a statement is not helpful; it is a value judgement which could also be interpreted as a form of bullying.
