Nanosermon Script:

Did God give the Holy Land to the Arabs or to Israel?

I’m asking because the Church of England Synod has just voted, in July 2026, to ‘hear’ as they put it, a paper from a group calling itself Kairos, claiming to be Christian and ‘Palestinian’, describing Israel as a ‘colonial, settler and exclusionary entity.’ Not one CofE bishop voted against.

I’m Stephen Green, and in this Christian Voice nanosermon we’ll see to whom the Bible gives a right to the land.

We need to say right at the start that the Christians of the Holy Land, who are mostly but not exclusively Arab, are our Christian brothers and sisters. They are shamefully mistreated by Jews and by their Muslim neighbours. If the Kairos lot, the Church of England Synod and Sarah Mullally who was recently appointed Archbishop of Canterbury stopped there, they would be on solid, biblical ground.

‘Israeli occupation’

But they don’t. This Kairos are calling for an end to what they claim is ‘Israeli occupation’ of the Holy Land. That’s right, they seriously want the Jewish people to be evicted from Israel.

They even accuse British Jews of being ‘complicit’ in what they describe as ‘the suffering of Gaza’s children’.

Let’s have some history. Around three thousand, four hundred years ago, after Israel’s conquest of Canaan, which the Bible also says was a judgment on its pagan inhabitants, Joshua recalled the promises God made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

We read in Joshua chapter twenty-one:
Josh 21:43 And the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.
Josh 21:45 There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.

There are dozens more supporting references in scripture. The land is a sacred inheritance. It’s called the ‘Promised Land’ for a reason. You would need massive biblical illiteracy, or rabid antisemitism, not to spot that.

The Arabs, whom the godless left call ‘Palestinians’, are recent settlers with no divine approval. They, in fact, are the ‘occupiers’.

Even the seventh century Muslim Koran in Surah 5.21 records Moses telling the Jews to ‘Enter the holy land which Allah hath assigned unto you’.

UN accuses Hamas of terrorism against Gazans

Kairos is a Greek word meaning ‘the right, critical, or opportune moment’. But as it happens the Kairos paper and CofE Synod sympathy for it has come at the worst possible moment for them.

In the same week, the United Nations, usually so anti-Israel, accused Hamas of terrorising Gazans at the UN’s food centres. Terrorists maintain control in a ‘dangerous pattern of intimidation, violence and obstruction’, the UN say.

It seems Hamas also hijack aid shipments to smuggle high-value goods as well as weapons into the enclave. Its leaders have taken billions in aid money, and spent it on weapons and enriching themselves. It’s Hamas who are imposing suffering on Gaza’s children, not the Israel Defence Force.

Liars are heading to the lake of fire

You know, accepting and honouring the Bible is foundational for any Christian. So is telling the truth. They can claim to be Christian till they are blue in the face, but we read in Revelation:

Rev 21:8b … all liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone:

Pray for Israel and pray for the Church of England to seek the Lord and repent.
