So despite the polls predicting a close race, Donald Trump and his running mate, J D Vance, won the US Presidential election AND won the popular vote.

That gives President-elect Trump a powerful mandate.

Biblical Mandate

Donald Trump 45th President will now be the 47th
Donald Trump 45th President will now be the 47th.

Even in the Bible, with its theocratic pattern, it’s seen as a good thing when the people give their consent to their leaders. Here’s the people of Israel before Mount Sinai:

Exod 19:8 And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD.

Remember how in this year’s UK general election, only twenty-per-cent of the population actually voted for the party who are now in office?

That, in biblical terms, isn’t a mandate. Trump’s is.

Ending the Russo-Ukraine war

Boris Johnson convinced Vlodomir Zelensky to ditch peace talks with Russia and to ‘fight’ instead, at no cost to himself or UK soldiers’ lives.
Boris Johnson convinced Vlodomir Zelensky to ditch peace talks with Russia and to ‘fight’ instead, at no cost to himself or to UK soldiers’ lives.

So what does this mean for the US, for us in the UK, and for the world?

The UK’s Sir Keir Starmer, following down the path of warmonger Boris Johnson, said he would ‘welcome sustained bipartisan US support for Ukraine’.

Well, dream on with that. President-elect Trump has vowed to end the Russo-Ukraine war on day one of his presidency.

The Lord Jesus said:
Matt 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

How to win friends …

In June 2019, Sir Keir wrote that ‘Humanity and dignity’ were ‘Two words not understood by President Trump’. Since then, UK ambassador to the United States Dame Karen Pierce has spent four years working hard to build bridges with the possible next president.

And then Sir Keir sends over a hundred Labour Party staffers to help the doomed Kamala Campaign.

The Bible says:
Jas 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

But that requires humility, which in Sir Keir’s case, he has not got.

To make matters worse, Dame Karen is now working under Foreign Secretary David Lammy.

In 2018, the Tottenham MP called Mr Trump a ‘tyrant in a toupee’. He went on: ‘Trump is not only a woman-hating, neo-Nazi-sympathising sociopath,’ and a racist KKK (That’s Ku Klux Klan, founded by Democrats), but ‘a profound threat to the international order’.

Curse not the king

The Donald is known for his thin skin and for his ability to hold grudges.

The Bible says:
Eph 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

Sort it out that day, in other words. Don’t go to bed angry. Clearly the next US President needs to be before the Lord on that, at the very least. But David Lammy should have sought the Lord in the Proverbs:

Prov 21:23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

And if that were not warning enough, here’s wisdom from Ecclesiastes:
Eccl 10:20 Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bedchamber: for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter.

But to seek the Lord would again require humility, and Mr Lammy is self-absorbed and needs our prayers.

Demonic arrogance

But then again, the sheer scale of the arrogance among those who regard themselves as ‘progressive’ can only be demonic. Well, look, it is driven by something beyond normal discourse.

The commentators were distraught. BBC newscasters on Wednesday morning might as well have been wearing black ties and black crepe.

Emily Maitlis started swearing on air. Carol Vorderman went all spiritual and said ‘God help America.’ Well, God can do that, but it is conditional on obedience, as we read:

Deut 28:1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

Ex-Tory MP Rory Stewart, chatting after the election with ‘we don’t do God’ Alastair Campbell, ignored the spiritual dimension and said the Kamala ran a good campaign, lots of reasons why she won. He bet a five- or six-figure sum on her winning. But, er, she lost.

The word says:
Psa 76:12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.

A right to the votes

In the US, Ann Selzer, Iowa’s polling queen, predicted just days before the election that Kamala would take the Hawkeye State by three points. In the end, Mr Trump won it by more than 13.

Patronising and divisive: Actress Julia Roberts.
Patronising and divisive: Actress Julia Roberts.

You see, during the election, the Democrats seemed to assume they had a right to the votes of women, and black and hispanic people.

Barack Obama scolded black men, the ‘brothers’, for not getting the Kamala vibe. Actress Julia Roberts lectured women on how their husbands needn’t know they voted secretly for Kamala. It’s identity politics, but it’s also entitlement, arrogance, patronising, contempt for ordinary people and their intelligence.

The Kamala mindset seemed to think that being fanatically pro-abortion meant that every woman should vote for her, but (as even the BBC reports) that’s not how it works, and she was in any case hampered by not being quite sure what a woman actually was.

A basket of deplorable

When Mr Trump ran against Hilary Clinton, she described Trump voters as in a ‘basket of deplorables’. They were ‘racist, sexist, homophobic, zenophobic, Islamophobic’, ‘they’re offensive, hateful, mean-spirited’, she said. View the video here.

Poking fun at two insults at once
Poking fun at two insults at once

Then, following a stupid comment from a warm-up comedian at a trump rally about Puerto Rico, calling it a floating island of garbage, Joe Biden snatched maximum-defeat from a mini-victory by calling Trump supporters ‘garbage’.

That was mean-spirited, and then Joe Biden’s concession speech on Thursday was gracious. The same tongue, cursing then blessing.

Anyway, the business-minded quickly put t-shirts together mocking both Biden and Hillary, while the Donald put on a high-vis vest and did a photo-op from a garbage truck which his team quickly turned into an advert just for the occasion. You should be dirsrespecting neither your opponents nor the voters.

Here’s the Apostle Paul, writing to the Philippians:
Php 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things (are) honest, whatsoever things (are) just, whatsoever things (are) pure, whatsoever things (are) lovely, whatsoever things (are) of good report; if (there be) any virtue, and if (there be) any praise, think on these things.

In other words, be positive, look for the best in people, not the worst.

What will President Trump do?

So, in that spirit, looking forward, we know President Trump will lower taxes, will not impose Net Zero targets or spend taxpayers’ money on expensive vanity projects like hydrogen, wind and solar power and carbon capture.

The Telegraph says He is going to exploit God’s gift of fossil fuels and ‘Drill, baby, drill’ for oil and gas.

I expect to see Robert Kennedy with a health role, which will scare big pharma. Maybe all that will spread to the UK.

Kamala is for they them Trump is for you tshirt.
Kamala is for they them Trump is for you tshirt.

President Trump respects God’s division of mankind into male and female and says he will stop transgender mutilation. He is heading for a row with the Olympic Committee over men muscling in on women’s sports.

During the election campaign, the Trump team skewered Kamala Harris over her promotion of government-funded sex-change operations for illegal migrants, coining the clever slogan, sending up pronoun culture while also hinting at her membership of the elite, and once more repeated on T-shirts: ‘Kamala is for they/them. Trump is for you.’

He will also defund Planned Parenthood making it harder for them to promote abortion abroad. He and his V-P pray, and unlike Kamala, Trumpy does not throw people out of his meetings who proclaim the Lordship of the King of kings, Jesus Christ.

Pray for those who lead

Now remember, on the campaign trail, he survived two assassination attempts. The Lord could well be with him.

But he is not impervious either to further attempts on his life or to bad decisions or bad appointments. We are told to pray for those in authority, but those who are at least trying to honour God and rule for the people rather than for the elites, need especial prayers for protection against all evils and for wisdom from above.

The pollsters, the godless, have been confounded. May Satan be confounded in all his works.

  1. The president of International Christian Concern described DT in his last presidency as a “focused and effective champion pushing for religious freedom around the world…This effort was led by a team of savvy and seasoned government veterans. Vice-President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and Ambassador at Large Sam Brownback together, oversaw what many consider to be the golden age for religious freedom.” Mike Pompeo was involved in negotiations to free Pastor Andrew Brunson from prison in Turkey where he was serving a life sentence.
