Resolution for National Trust Annual General Meeting 2022

Participation in Gay Pride Events

‘Be it resolved that this AGM deplores participation by the National Trust in gay pride parades as divisive and an unaccountable waste of members’ subscriptions.’

Supporting Statement:
The National Trust took part in the Birmingham Gay Pride event in 2019. In a letter to the proposer, the Director General admitted no account was kept of the expenditure nor of any resulting subscription revenue. The participation was unaccountable, divisive and an exercise in virtue signalling. It was unbecoming in a body which should be dedicated to preserving the nation’s heritage for all and being a faithful steward of its members’ subscriptions.

Any and every member of the National Trust who has been a member since January 2021 can and should sign the resolution. Download the pdf here:   ResolutionsNT22 – then print it off, sign it, print your name and postcode and your National Trust membership number then send it to: Christian Voice, Wernlwyd, Pen-y-bont, CARMARTHEN, SA33 6QN, by the end of the week.  Or scan it and email it to info@ukcv.org   We have a NT deadline to meet!  Thank you!

The Resolution comes with a parallel Resolution calling for the National Trust to stop re-wilding farmland.  On the re-wilding page the order of the Resolutions is reversed in the PDF download.  That’s the only difference.  Download from either page.

  1. As an NT member and CV supporter I would like in principle to support this, but I suggest a wording of the motion on the lines of “this AGM confirms that the NT shall not support events of a political or campaigning nature relating to particular interest groups that do not relate directly to the primary aims and objectives of the Trust to maintain the national heritage.” This would cover Pride events, but I suggest more likely to pass. The “PC Gestapo”will no doubt fight it, but I hope most NT members would support the principle, that the Trust remains apolitical.

    • Thanks brother. We’re keeping it simple and highly focussed, integrated with an accompanying video. Your idea is however a good one, and we could use it next year if our one fails this year through the corrupt use of the Chairman casting ‘proxy votes’. We are not allowed to bring back the same resolution for three years, but your one might just be acceptable if we can find any other examples of other dodgy events the NT have supported. Can you think of any?
In the meantime, I hope you will support this resolution!

  2. Hi Stephen,
We have just re-joined the Nat Trust, only to find their subscription to this gay pride garbage! If your resolution passes, We will continue our membership; if not, we will permanently withdraw, until such time arises when there is within the NT a big change of heart.
I have not been able to log in to support your resolution, other than this message here, but I am 100+% in favour of your resolution, so, if this is enough, then here it is.
    Be blest.
