What Emmeline Pankhurst says is interesting of course, but I don’t think any of us feel bound to support the views of our (many !) great grandparents, or really expect or demand that our (many !) great grandchildren will support our views.
That Helen Pankhurst is active in this field at all is a little surprising, and possibly even amounts to trading on an unusual surname. If the original lady had been called Emmeline Baker, and the great grand-daughter called Helen Thomson, there wouldn’t have been so much of a story in this, I’m afraid !
This will vary from day to day, but when I read this Pankhurst story in the Daily Mail it was opposite a link to an enthusiastically illustrated story with the headline “Emily Ratajkowski flaunts her ample cleavage and perky posterior in sultry orange bikini as she turns up the heat in Mykonos.”
Well, Ms Pankhurst does say that society should ‘revalue’ positions traditionally shunned by feminists and ‘let individuals decide what they want to be’. I suppose that this is how Ms Ratajkowski (whoever she is ) wants to be. It’s interesting that probably the most striking part of her costume is what might be called the front of her posterior, but the Daily Mail politely makes no mention of it.
