  1. Jack Straw is absolutely right. The use of the word “Asian” to mean specifically people from the former Indian Empire, or just Pakistanis, is quite wrong. I know a Malaysian of Chinese heritage who finds this very offensive. He is not a Muslim, and he doesn’t see why the name of his continent should be hijacked like this.

    Mind you , many South Americans feel the same about the use of the word “American”, most of all by “Americans”.
