PutinOnce the enemy of Christianity, Russia has now positioned itself as the hope of persecuted Christians, Ralph H. Sidway reported.

“Scarcely a day goes by now,” Sidway remarked, “where we do not read of yet another in a constellation of initiatives being undertaken by both the Russian Orthodox Church and the Russian government on behalf of persecuted Christians and other victims in Syria, Egypt, and elsewhere in the world.”

Sidway’s article shows specific ways that Putin and the Russian Orthodox Church are working together to defend the plight of Christians in Egypt, Syria, and the rest of the world while the West turns a blind eye. To read this excellent article, click on the following link:

  1. Thanks for bringing this to our notice Robin. Sidway’s and nuisance on their article says at the end:
“The United States, unmoored from her Christian and moral foundations, and with her leadership enabling Islamic extremists and terrorists, herself founders in the raging waves of history, and has already abandoned the world’s Christians to perish in the tempest..” For US read all secular, humanist, PC Western Governments who represent peoples who are hedonistic and self centred to the extreme and see the out of date, kill joy philosophy called Christianity as a brake, unnecessary criticism and inconvenience on their life styles.

Reminds me of Herod and John the Baptist who pointed out in public how immoral the ruler was. Result: kill the critic. For John read Christians / Christianity.

  2. Is it really true that President Obama supports “toxic Islamic extremists and terrorists in Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Syria and elsewhere.” ? Perhaps in view of this we should ally ourselves with Russia instead. I don’t expect to hear that Putin’s government has temporarily closed down because somebody else won’t give them the money they need, and they have proper healthcare there too —- like in this country, caring without charge for people who are ill just is not controversial in Russia .

  3. The story is not complete without mentioning that this bloodbath can largely be laid at the feet of those Washington based Jewish groups (e.g. AIPAC and their Jewish neo-con buddies) who behind the scenes have been the driving force of the U.S. led destabilization of half the Arab world. Why do we collectively criticize Muslims (most of whom have nothing to do with this) but shudder at the prospect of pointing out Jewish iniquity? As Christians we are supposed to speak TRUTH without fear or favour.

  4. Whilst reading this article, it seemed the Lord brought to my mind to look into the relationship between the Russian Orthodox Church and non-Orthodox churches in Russia. http://www.persecution.org/2012/10/05/why-russia-persecutes-non-orthodox-christians/
There is/has been hostility and persecution suffered by non-Orthodox believers, so it seems a bit hypocritical that whilst the Orthodox church are doing ‘good works’ to others, they view Christians in their own country less favourably because they are not Orthodox. Is the Lord pleased with our religious good work if we are hostile towards other Christians?

  5. It depends which denomination the Lord believes to be the true one. This is debatable, and it has been debated often, with no clear conclusion .

However, in the case of Muslim countries, most Christians would feel sure the Lord would prefer any Christian denomination to Islam, so there is no problem; except that most Muslims would feel sure that Allah would prefer any kind of Muslim to Christians.

SusanP does make a very good point, however. I am not quite convinced that President Putin is the peacemaking saint he would like us to believe. Let’s wait and see how things turn out .
