John Craven was arrested for quoting the Bible after two gay teenagers asked what his views were on homosexuality.
A Christian preacher won £13,000 last week in compensation after being arrested and held in custody for 19 hours simply for quoting the Bible.
The arrest occurred three years ago when John Craven was preaching in Manchester city centre. Two teenagers approached the street preacher to ask what he thought of homosexuality. Craven read from Revelation 21:8, which says that sinners will be burned in a lake of fire. He also quoted John 3:16 and said that “Whilst God hates sin, he loves the sinner.”
Following Craven’s response the boys began kissing each other in front of Craven and making “obscene gestures.” Soon the youths called a mounted policeman, claiming that Craven’s comments had “insulted” them and caused them “harassment and distress.”
The policeman arrested Craven for possibly committing a public order offence. The officer allegedly took Craven “roughly by the arm” and told him that he was under arrest. The officer did not ask for Craven’s name or address and handled him roughly.
Craven was taken into custody, and remained in a jail cell for about 15 hours. He did not receive food, water, or medication for his rheumatoid arthritis.
This event happened in 2011. On March 29th Craven was finally awarded his £13,000 compensation after a three-year legal battle against the Manchester Police. This battle has cost the public purse approximately £50,000. Mr. Craven won his damages under the Human Rights Act.
“I never intended to cause anyone harassment, alarm or distress. I preach the gospel, which means good news and the love of God for all.
“At the end of the day God loves everybody, but homosexuality is a sin and I am not going to contradict the word of God.”
Police Superintendent Alan Greene could not go into detail, but admitted “We can acknowledge that we did make mistakes and kept the claimant in custody for too long.”
This is just one of several incidents involving the persecution of Christians in Britain. Christianity is coming under fire, which results in Christians being marginalized and prohibited from freely expressing their religious views. But this victory gives us some encouragement to Christians who boldly proclaim their faith.

Although it will be their ineptitude as a financial institution which will make all the headlines, if the bank had followed Christian principles of diligence when it took over Brittania Building Society, if it had followed the Biblical advice to choose able men such as fear God to run it, rather than a homosexual drug-taker, if it had noticed that the Bible says ‘thou shalt not steal’ before overcharging mortgagees and those mis-sold payment protection insurance and interest rate hedging products, if its bosses had not succumbed to pride and greed when wanting to take over TSB branches from Lloyds, it would not be in the position it is now.
If the Co-op had concentrated more on balancing the books according to Christian principles and less on politically-correct posturing it would not be in the mess it is in today.

Family breakdown continues to rise in Britain, costing taxpayers billions.
Government is finally giving attention to the economic ramifications of family breakdown.
According to an articlereported in The Daily Telegraph, the Government plans to have midwives, GPs, and registrars talk to couples about their relationships in an effort to minimize family breakdown.
After talking with couples, these Government workers will encourage couples to seek additional support services. The Government might also suggest that employers make these support services more accessible to employees.
Government plans build on a report launched last year, titled the Family Stability Review. This report gathers information about the change in families and the areas in which they are most at risk. Two of the proposed sessions would be aimed at parents with small children and at “silver-splitters,” older couples who separate before they reach retirement age.
In an article to the Telegraph earlier this year, Lord Freud, the welfare minister, asserted that families needed to be stabilized after finding out that the number of unmarried parents raising children has increased dramatically.
The Government does not seem to be concerned that family breakdown is a problem in itself, but that family breakdown costs taxpayers millions of pounds every year. The Relationships Foundation Study estimated that UK taxpayers pay approximately £46 billion a year or £1,541 for every individual, from issues stemming from broken families. These are costs that include education, criminal justice, and healthcare.
Christian Voice has been warning about this very problem for years. In 2012 we reported that family breakdown costs British taxpayers money in some of the following ways:
Promiscuity often leads to STI’s, which cost the British taxpayer more than £1 billion per year.
Promiscuity often leads to HIV. The estimated 83,000 cases of HIV in the UK at the end of 2008 represent a total lifetime cost of £26 billion.
Promiscuity leads to teenage pregnancy which cost the NHS £63 million per year, and a further £29 million for infertility and other complications arising from chlamydia alone.
Promiscuity often leads to abortions, and 96% of abortions are carried out on the NHS at a cost of £650 each, or £118 million.
Promiscuity often contributes to separation from marriage and cohabiting relationships (including promiscuity prior to entering such relationships), which entails huge increases in tax credit payments, lone parent benefits, housing benefits, in addition to the health, crime and educational impact of relationship breakdown. Altogether this totals about £42 billion a year.
In contributing to relationship breakdown, promiscuity leads to Absenteeism. The loss of working hours following relationship breakdown costs the economy at least £20 billion a year.
In contributing to relationship breakdown, promiscuity can lead to domestic violence which costs the British taxpayer around £3.4 billion a year, and around £21 billion today in ‘human and emotional costs.’
The effect of relationship breakdown on children leads to educational underachievement which results in an estimated £40,000 for each child, reducing GDP by £6 billion. Much of this cost can be directly attributable to the promiscuous activity which contributed to the relationship breakdown.
Additionally, studies have shown that family breakdown negatively affects children. The effects of a broken home can cause children to perform poorly in school, commit crimes, and suffer mental health problems. However, children from stable families tend to avoid these negative effects and have a better chance of a successful life.
Government saysit will act to give children the “best start in life.” The Marriage Foundation has asked state spending to concentrate on families with young children, because that is the time when most relationships are vulnerable for a break-up.
Warren Middleton, also known as John Parratt, was given a 12 month sentence in July 2011 after being convicted of having indecent images of children.
Middleton was the editor of Betrayal of Youth, a notorious paedophile campaigning manual to which Peter Tatchell contributed a chapter on ‘Questioning Ages of Majority and Ages of Consent’. Middleton was also vice-chairman of the Paedophile Information Exchange, known as PIE.
Betrayal of Youth was published in 1986, just three years after Peter Tatchell lost to Simon Hughes in the Bermondsey bye-election. The bye-election did not go well. Tatchell was disowned by then Labour leader Michael Foot and Hughes highlighted Tatchell’s militant homosexuality.
Afterwards, Tatchell complained of ‘a witch-hunt’. An exasperated Neil Kinnock, who would win the Labour leadership election in October, was variously reported as saying ‘The trouble with Peter is, he can’t tell the difference between a witch and fairy’ or “I’m not in favour of witch hunts, but I do not mistake bloody witches for fairies.” Tatchell has since joined the Green Party, where witches and fairies are made more welcome.
Also jailed in 2011 were the leader of PIE, Steven Smith, aka Steven Freeman, John Morrison, Middleton’s flat-mate, one Barry Cutler, and Leo Adamson, a member of the PIE executive who was also involved in the 1970s with ‘Gay Youth.’
the court was told that more than 5,000 images were found on three discs at the Putney home shared by Parratt and Morrison after a police raid in July 2008.
Steve Smith’s history of PIE, as published in Betrayal of Youth, can be found HERE. Steven Smith was also jailed twenty years earlier, in 1991, for child porn offences.
Jailed earlier were PIE executive members David Joy of Loughborough, and David Bremner, a PhD from Clapton, E London.
Interestingly, who was the Barrister who defended Steven Smith in 1991 and came out with the rather lame line that ‘Smith and the others would not have published the magazine if the police had warned them it was in breach of the law’?
It’s the same barrister who served on the Gay Rights Sub-Committee of the National Council for Civil Liberties when Patricia Hewitt and Harriet Harman were in charge in the 1970’s and 1980’s alongside his ‘learned friend’ Geoffrey Robertson QC and paedophiles David Bremner, Michael Burbidge, Keith Hose and Tom O’Carroll.
Here is a clue: He was the first openly-gay barrister, championed by homosexuals, to be appointed a High Court Judge, in 2002.
Here is another: It’s the same man who set up the Conspiracy to Corrupt Public Morals group to defend Tom O’Carroll in 1979. How nice to know he was still prepared to accept a brief to defend a pal of his old fellow sub-committee-members 12 years later.
The same newspaper also reports how the Chairman of the National Council for Civil Liberties in the 1970’s and 1980’s also sprang to the defence of PIE, both in campaigning terms and by acting for Bremner when he was convicted with David Joy in 1984.
He is now the Chief Coroner for England and Wales, Peter Thornton.

United States human rights activists are pressuring the central American country of Belize to relax its policies on homosexuals.
The United Belize Advocacy Movement (UNIBAM) has issued a challenge to the government of Belize before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), saying that the Belizean government must implement ways to protect its LGBTI community.
When one looks closer at the demands, however, it becomes clear that the issue is not merely about protecting homosexuals. Rather, UNIBAM is aggressively targeting those who dissent from the gay rights agenda.
UNIBAM is insisting that government punish those who commit “speech crimes” and “hate crimes” against LGBTI people. They claim violations have been made against LGBTI citizens in the areas of education, health, and employment.
On 28th March, the State of Belize was summoned to Washington DC, to appear before IACHR after UNIBAM petitioned for a rights hearing. Caleb Orozco, Executive Director of UNIBAM, led the charge by citing various “crimes” against gay people, none of which were supported by official documentation. In addition, he praised the government of Belize for continuing to enact the revised gender policy, which defines sexual orientation as “diverse,” and classifies contraceptives as a “public good.”
This revised gender policy is being pushed forward by the National Women’s Commission of Belize (NWC) and funded by the UN. Neither the public nor religious leaders were consulted on its passage. It was essentially passed in secret by gay rights activists in Belize.
Mr Orozco has been given money by Freedom House, a U.S.-based non-governmental organization. Although not directly connected with the US government, Freedom House is in turn supported with $250,00 gifts by the U.S. Agency for International Development and the U.S. Department of State. By following the money, we see that this is another instance of neocolonialism, whereby developing countries are being pressured by the West to make homosexuality the norm.
Addenbrooke Hospital in Cambridge was reported to have incinerated unborn fetuses in its waste-to-energy plant.
The corpses of aborted babies are being burnt to keep hospitals warm.
The shocking revelations emerged after a 24th March Dispatch report exposed that unborn fetuses were being incinerated in UK hospital facilities to produce fuel.
Investigators found that some fetuses were classified as “clinical waste” while others were used as fuel in waste-to-energy facilities that produce heat.
According to the report, twenty-seven different NHS trusts have incinerated approximately 15,500 fetuses since 2011. These include babies who were the subject of both abortions and miscarriages. Ten of these trusts burned 1,000 sets of remains along with other medical waste, and two admitted that remains were burned in waste-to-energy furnaces that generate energy to power hospitals.
After the Dispatch report came out, the Department of Health banned the practice of incinerating fetal remains. Health minister Dr. Dan Poulter called the practice “totally unacceptable,” and Chief Executive of the Human Tissue Authority (HTA) said in a statementthat they would “act on this immediately.” Even though the HTA advises hospitals that “incineration may not be appropriate for fetal remains,” they decided to tighten standards.
One of the hospitals that incinerated fetal remains, Ipswich Hospital in Suffolk,denied its involvement despite the Dispatch reporting that over 1,100 fetal remains had been incinerated between 2011 and 2013. It claimed that the fetal remains burned at its location were taken from another hospital, not from its own facility. Addenbrooke Hospital in Cambridge was reported to have incinerated 797 fetuses at its waste-to-energy plant. Addenbrooke reportedly told mothers that the babies were going to be “cremated.”
Although both cremation and incineration dispose of a body by burning, they are two very different practices. A fetus that is cremated is buried afterwards. Cremation is not “an alternative to a funeral.” On the other hand, an incinerated fetus is consumed along with other rubbish or, as we have seen in some cases, it is used as waste to generate energy for a facility.
According to the Human Tissue Authority (HTA), “a woman or couple should be made aware that information on disposal options is available if they wish to see it.” The website additionally states that the method of disposal should be properly documented.
The underlying outrage is that some mothers who were the victims of miscarriages may have been given false information about the way in which their babies’ bodies were disposed of. Instead of receiving a human burial, their babies were being treated as medical waste and used as recyclable energy.
“For you formed my inward parts; you covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:13-14a) The Psalmist knew that human life was a gift from God. Unfortunately, our culture does not. The incineration of unborn babies can be seen as a fitting reflection of our culture’s attitude toward life. Many of the fetal remains were the result of abortions, and sometimes the mothers did not wish to know what happened to the remains. In a culture that values life so little, should we be at all surprised that such a practice has come to light?

An American evolutionary biologist, geneticist, academic and social commentator explained 15 years ago that atheists cling on to evolution not because it is true, but because the alternative scares them.
Richard Charles “Dick” Lewontin made the extraordinary admission in a foreword to the last book of astronomer the late Carl Sagan, ‘The Demon-Haunted World.’
To give credit where it is due, Lewontin has opposed GM crops but not because they arise from scientists playing God (he doesn’t do God, as you will see), rather because of the power they give agri-conglomorates over farmers.
On the bad side, he has described himself as a Marxist and materialist. He clearly adheres to the philiosophy of Positivism, which holds the view that that there is valid knowledge (truth) only in scientific knowledge.
In the review of Sagan’s book (online here) Lewontin wrote:
Our willingness to accept scientific claims that are against common sense is the key to an understanding of the real struggle between science and the supernatural. We take the side of science in spite of the patent absurdity of some of its constructs, in spite of its failure to fulfill many of its extravagant promises of health and life, in spite of the tolerance of the scientific community for unsubstantiated just-so stories, because we have a prior commitment, a commitment to materialism.
“It is not that the methods and institutions of science somehow compel us to accept a material explanation of the phenomenal world, but, on the contrary, that we are forced by our a priori adherence to material causes to create an apparatus of investigation and a set of concepts that produce material explanations, no matter how counter-intuitive, no matter how mystifying to the uninitiated. Moreover, that materialism is absolute, for we cannot allow a Divine Foot in the door. … To appeal to an omnipotent deity is to allow that at any moment the regularities of nature may be ruptured, that miracles may happen.
As a character from a Monty Python sketch would have said: ‘Oh, what a give-away’.

The words of Jesus Christ are clear: Marriage is between and man and woman because God created us that way. ‘Gay marriage’ is a farce and a counterfeit.
In the name of inclusiveness, the first so-called ‘gay marriages’ are happening in England and Wales this weekend. The media and politicians are falling over themselves to congratulate homosexuals on ‘tying the knot’ in an orgy of sycophancy. BBC Radio 5 Live this morning even had a peer of the realm ‘proposing’ to his ‘partner’ on air.
The ‘yuk’ factor is overwhelming, and a woman referring to another woman as ‘my wife’ may result in gales of laughter, but we need to root our response in the word of God, that is, in the Bible.
The Lord Jesus Christ said this:
Mark 10:6-8 ‘From the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.
And becoming one flesh, in the full conjugal sense, is something a pair of women, or two men, can never do. Between them they lack the necessary parts of the anatomy to be achieve it. That is why they have to indulge in activities which fall short – to put it mildly – of the conjugal marital act.
The new law – the Marriage (Same-Sex Couples) Act 2013 admits that a couple in a gay marriage cannot consummate their marriage and states they can only commit adultery with someone of the opposite sex. That may be a recognition that sexual fidelity has little relevance to homosexuality, but it is also shows that ‘gay marriage’ is a farce, a sham, a mockery of God’s holy institution.
Homosexuals were promised ‘equal marriage’ but instead they have been given joke marriage. But the pretense at marriage they will be celebrating this weekend is still a counterfeit which devalues real marriage.
Marriage has been redefined for everyone, against the wishes of the majority of people. ‘Gay marriage’ was in no party manifesto and there was no consultation on the principle of it. The Coalition 4 Marriage mustered 650,000 on their petition against ‘gay marriage’, Stonewall could not even manage a tenth of that.
Christian Voice has consistently opposed the homosexual agenda. We continue to oppose civil partnerships, on the grounds that the state should give no recognition to relationships built on perversion, but as civil partnerships convey all the benefits of marriage, Prime Minister David Cameron should have left it there.
The Apostle Paul, writing to the early church in Rome, spoke of those who become their own god:
Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature…
So homosexual desires are described as vile affections in the Bible.
It’s all bad news for our nation.
If you want to be blessed and safeguarded you don’t throw God’s righteousness in his face. You don’t turn what God calls evil into good, and turn what God made good into evil. Successive governments since the 1960s have consistently legislated away the laws of God, upon which this nation was built.
But ‘gay marriage’ is a massive step towards the social economy of Sodom. David Cameron and the rest of our leaders are responsible for casting our land away from the protection of the Almighty.
Only for the individual homosexual is there any good news and that is only in the saving grace of Jesus. His blood shed on the cross has the power to remove the stain of sin and the power of sin. No-one has to stay gay. However you became like that – and no geneticist will say that anyone is born like it – there is forgiveness, deliverance and healing in Jesus Christ.
And it isn’t just sexual sins and the sin of pride that can be forgiven by Jesus. He stands ready to forgive all who truly repent and will never turn anyone away. That is the true message of inclusiveness.

Global consumer culture is destroying the family, Christian Voice researchers have discovered.
The net effect of a culture that prioritizes material prosperity above all else is that family relationships suffer, either directly through family breakdown, or indirectly from the array of pressures that prevent families from being properly ordered.
In the course of their investigation, Christian Voice researchers discovered seven primary areas where consumerism has been damaging families. (See below for a list.)
Researcher Robin Phillips has warned that consumerism is orienting family-members towards a false idea of what it means to be human.
Robin Phillips, who oversaw the research, commented that he wanted to look beyond simple family breakdown to explore the more subtle ways consumerism is harming families. “Normally when we talk about threats against the family we have in mind things like divorce statistics” Phillips told the media in a statement this morning. “But we should also be attentive to the quality of family life. Our research suggests that the quality of family relationships has been a casualty of unrestrained consumerism. This runs against current thinking which tends to associate the good life with material prosperity.”
Phillips, whose book Saints and Scoundrels was published last year, added, “Although people have been warning about the effects of consumerism for years, what amazed us was the sheer scale of the problem. There are few areas of family life that have been left untouched by the ethic of unbridled consumerism. The impulses and metaphors of consumerism have exerted tentacles beyond the marketplace to affect nearly every area of life.”
Below are the seven areas Christian Voice identified where consumerism has wrought particular damage to the family.
1. Products Are Replacing Relationships
Diane Abbott, shadow minister for public health, has warned that parents compensate for lack of parental involvement by buying consumer goods for their children.
In order to satisfy the demands of consumerism, parents’ willingly embrace work-schedules that result in them neglecting their children. As a result, children are suffering from higher levels of anxiety and depression.
Consumerism promises to fill the vacuum created by inattentive parents. Diane Abbott, the shadow minister for public health, has warned of what she calls “McParenting,” where parents compensate for lack of parental involvement by buying consumer goods for their children.
The problem has become so acute that a United Nations’ report found that British parents are trapping their children in a cycle of “compulsive consumerism” by showering them with toys and designer labels instead of spending quality time with them.
Summarizing the findings, journalist John Bingham commentedthat “while parents said they felt compelled into buying more, the children themselves said spending time with their families made them happier.”
2. Throw Away Culture
Our throw-away culture orients us to prize what is new over what is lasting, and what is transient over permanence.
If a certain type of self calls for a certain type of society, it is also true that a certain type of society calls for a certain type of self. The type of self that consumerism calls for is one whose longings are easily assuaged with what is new and trendy, yet just as easily dissatisfied when the newness rubs off; a self for whom the disposable mentality has become normative.
Whereas people once prized products that were lasting, consumer culture has re-educated us to prize products that are new, trendy, up to date, but will soon be superseded by products which promise to be even better.
To sustain a profitable constituency of constantly dissatisfied consumers, successful industries have enormous financial incentives to orient the public to prioritize transience over permanence and newness over stability. For example, in order to convince users to purchase Windows 8, Microsoft must convince them that Windows 7 is inferior.
“It would be naïve to think that this disposable mentality of consumerism has not etched itself in our subconscious beyond the confines of the marketplace,” Robin Phillips commented. “Our research suggests our disposable culture has left deep imprints in the cadences of how our minds approach relationships, including marriage and family life.”
The lead-researcher for Christian Voice continued: “The bias for newness that is necessary to sustain emerging technological industries is subtly orienting the public against the types of values necessary for stable marriages and families, including permanence, longevity, consistency and stability. As we prize what is new over what is lasting and permanent, we become easily bored with the fixities of our environment.”
3. Lifestyles For Sale
In his book Jesus in Disneyland: Religion in Postmodern Times, David Lyon showed that consumer capitalism once focused entirely on producing products but now seeks to produce consumers. Where industries once attempted to simply make good products, they now focus on making us the types of people who will buy their products.
Put another way, instead of producing products for consumers, advertisers produces consumers for products. One of the ways companies do this is not by trying to sell us a product but a lifestyle. “The net result” one person pointed out, “is the creation in our minds of an idealized ‘lifestyle’ matching those suggestive messages. It is this idealized and artificial lifestyle that is then pursued as the principle means to achieving life satisfaction, happiness, and contentment or the so-called ‘good life.’ For the consumerist, all of their creative and intellectual energy is redirected toward this goal: a goal which is, in essence, an illusion created largely by the commercial interests of corporate [life] and the entertainment industry.”
The idealised lifestyle fostered on us by advertising runs directly counter to the priorities needed for healthy family life, including the values of frugality, sacrifice, and caring for others’ needs above our own. The images of the good life foisted on us by advertising carries with it the subtle message that our number one responsibility is to be true to ourselves.
As David Cain put it in his article ‘Your Lifestyle is Determined for You’, “We’ve been led into a culture that has been engineered to leave us tired, hungry for indulgence, willing to pay a lot for convenience and entertainment, and most importantly, vaguely dissatisfied with our lives so that we continue wanting things we don’t have.” Cain continued:
We buy so much because it always seems like something is still missing.
Western economies, particularly that of the United States, have been built in a very calculated manner on gratification, addiction, and unnecessary spending. We spend to cheer ourselves up, to reward ourselves, to celebrate, to fix problems, to elevate our status, and to alleviate boredom.
Can you imagine what would happen if all of America stopped buying so much unnecessary fluff that doesn’t add a lot of lasting value to our lives?
The economy would collapse and never recover.
4. Commodification of the Body
The impulses and metaphors of consumerism have exerted tentacles beyond the marketplace so that the body itself begins to be seen as a commodity. In the process, consumerism has harmed marriage by creating new ways in which men and women navigate their relationships with each other.
Influenced by consumer-driven advertizing, many wives spend inordinate amounts of time worrying about their appearance instead of investing themselves in their families and communities.
One example of this is the shift away from marriage and family life as intimate relationships are reduced to little more than a platform for two people to be consumers of each other’s bodies.
To compete in the new market of global consumerism, companies have had to embrace new methods of advertising in order to survive. Consumer-directed advertising gives us a matrix of what the well-lived life looks like which is often at odds with the values needed to sustain family-friendly communities.
In his book Consuming Religion, Vincent Miller showed that much of modern advertising has not simply focused on fostering greed, but on the more subtle task of shaping identity. We become the types of people who need to want and whose wants are insatiable. Once again, this works directly against the values needed to sustain long-term marriages, notably: longevity, permanence and contentment.
In these and other ways, our experience as consumers is formative even when we are not actually buying. It is literally shifting how we think of ourselves and each other.
6. Consumerism Breeds Radical Autonomy
One of the mistakes people often make about consumerism is to confuse it for simple greed and a preoccupation with possessions. However, in Craig Gay’s essay ‘Sensualists without Heart’ in the volumeThe Consuming Passion: Christianity and the Consumer Culture, he shows that the spirit of consumerism runs much deeper, involving “a commitment to self-creation and autonomous self-definition.”
The religious marketplace is largely consumer-driven, as potential church-users shop for the venues that best meet their social and emotional needs in much the same way they might approach a trip to Starbucks or the local mall.
Put another way, our shared identity as global consumers makes it difficult to believe there are fixities prior to the reality of our own autonomous choice. One example of this is given by Barbara Whitehead in her book The Divorce Culture, where she shows that the consumerist mentality has resulted in young people prizing portable assets (i.e., education, good jobs, the type of success that looks good on job resumes, etc.) above marriage and family. As a result, women are marrying later in life to the detriment of themselves and their future families.
Even religious communities have not been immune to the radical autonomy wrought by the consumerist mindset. Christian churches are increasingly seeking to make themselves “seeker-friendly” by importing into their worship the methods and practises of the marketplace. The religious marketplace is largely consumer-driven, as potential church-users shop for the venues that best meet their social and emotional needs in much the same way they might approach a trip to Starbucks or the local mall.
7. Where Consumerism and Social Media Meet
The sense of radical autonomy has been intensified by the potent conjunction of consumerism with new communication media. By harnessing the impulse of radical autonomy, our digital media makes it possible for us to choose our own virtual communities instead of being attentive to the needs of those around us. As our social nourishment is increasingly dislocated from the real world of time and space, our social spaces come to be something we can approach and control as consumers.
As social interaction is increasingly being folded into digital technology, our relationships become an assemblage of online interactions disconnected from the larger context of people’s lives and shared experiences.
Family relationships have been the primary casualty of these shifts. The 24/7 freneticism of non-stop stimulation via social media means that we have very little incentive to cultivate the dispositions necessary for attentive interaction with those closest to us, including those within our own families.
Family therapist Bill Doherty warns that family members are less inclined to spend time with each other when electronic distractions are available. Ironically, platforms like Facebook that were developed to help connect us with each other often end up separating us from the people we love and isolating families members from each other.

When asked if the research yielded any surprises, Christian Voice researcher Robin Phillips replied: “the main effects of consumerism surprised us because they were not the areas that first come to mind. Greed, ambition and the accumulation of wealth do create great obstacles for healthy families. However, the primary harm consumerism does to families is more subtle, in so far as it orients family-members towards a false idea of what it means to be human. When joined with the powerful industry of advertising, the consumerist impulse underscores ideas of autonomy and self-definition that make it hard to accept the fixities of marriage and family life.”
Christian Voice, which has campaigned for many years against forces threatening to destroy the family, said it would be broadening its campaign to warn people against the temptations posed by unrestrained consumerism. The group is calling people to revaluate what truly matters in life based on Biblical teaching. They pointed out that although scripture teaches that wealth is a blessing (Proverbs 3:9-10), it also warns about the temptations that can arise when buying and selling are elevated above eternal verities like faith, hope and love (Mt. 6:24; 1 Tim. 6:9; 1 Cor. 13:13). A person’s true wealth is his family (Ps 127:4-5), and it is the wealth of family relationships that must be protected from the pervasive consumerism all around us.

This report was written for our newsletter in 2011 but has now been expanded to include some of the more recent cases of persecution against British Christians.
In reviewing these cases, Christian Voice has become concerned that the incessant attention given to “hate crimes” against LGBT people is obscuring the more severe intolerance happening on a regular basis against believers.
The Lunacek-Report calls on EU Member States to “register and investigate hate crimes against LGBTI people,” yet seems “less concerned about the hate crimes that actually do take place in Europe.”
J.C. von Krempach cites two examples of hate crimes, which were both committed by homosexual groups, not committed against them. The first incident on 2nd February was against Cardinal Antonio Maria Rouco Varela, the Archbishop of Madrid, who was attacked by a mob of topless females shouting “abortion is sacred.”
The second incident occurred on January 24th. A peaceful ball event—called the “Akademikerball”—held at Vienna was attacked by a “left-extremist mob.” This was the third time this event has been attacked by such groups, under the pretense that the people who attend these balls are “Nazis.” The intruders carried banners and shouted their slogan, “You can have our hate.” Over two thousand police officers were eventually able to get rid of the militants, but not before the protesters had damaged shops and set cars of fire, inflicting approximately 1 million Euros in damage
Unfortunately, the participants in the latter attack were supported by the Austrian “Green Alternative” Party, which Mrs. Lunacek, the author of the Lunacek-Report, represents. While she is upset about hypothetical hate crimes being committed against homosexuals, she makes no apologies for the hate crimes actually committed by members of the party she supports.

Jeff and Sue Green own the 13 bedroom Highland Moors Hotel and Conference Centre in Llandrindod Wells, midWales. They had advertised that only married couples were allowed to take double rooms.
But at the end of last year they received a letter from the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s “legal enforcement team” informing them they could be guilty of discriminating against gay couples.
Jeff and Sue have now changed their policy to offer twin rooms only throughout the hotel, and have slanted their business towards catering for groups who are attending local events or hiring the conference centre. Jeff Green told Christian Voice that they had not actually turned anyone away, or had any actual enquiries from homosexuals wanting to book double rooms.
However, following the refusal of British courts to uphold the religious rights of other Christian B&B owners, they now plan to launch a legal case at the European Court of Human Rights.
Oddly enough, despite a report in Pink News four years ago that ‘gay-only’ hotels were to be investigated by the Equality and Human Rights Commission, hotels proclaiming that they only cater for homosexuals openly tout for business in the ‘gay-friendly’ resorts of Brighton, Bournemouth and Blackpool to this day.
Perhaps some Christians ought to try to book rooms in some of them …

Sock Puppets: The Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum
The 2014 secession vote in Crimea is derided as ‘illegal’ by all but two of the UN Security Council. Now further information has surfaced about European and American funding of the Ukrainian pro-EU ‘Maidan Square’ movement. It was intended to weaken Russian influence. Those behind the unrest will not care it has cost so many lives.
The Policy Association for an Open Society (PASOS) is heavily-EU-slanted. Its website carried an article dated 13th December 2013 deriding the Ukrainian authorities under then President Viktor Yanukovych for identifying certain Western groups as its ‘enemies’. The groups included ‘ three members of the PASOS network of think tanks.’ Imagine that.
‘The memo also targets Europe Without Borders, a Ukrainian NGO which partnered with PASOS on a program to encourage the European Union to remove visa requirements for the Eastern Partnership countries, including Ukraine.’
What a give-away. The ‘Eastern Partnership countries’ is a term coined by Euro-expansionists five years ago. It refers to countries from the former Soviet Union on the EU’s eastern fringe. These include Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. However, the ‘Eastern Partnership’ is now regarded by John Lloyd of Reuters (worth a read) as being in retreat. Nevertheless, the visa proposal from PASOS would have allowed nationals of these states unfettered access to the EU and its labour markets.
George Soros financed Maidan Square activists
PASOS goes on to report without denial the Ukrainian Government memo’s identification of another six US groups financing the Maidan Square activists. In addition, the Soros Open Society offshoot the International Renaissance Fund was fingered:
‘The website published images of the memo, which it said was leaked by a member of the party. According to the report, the Party of Regions blames the current EuroMaidan protests in Ukraine on American donors who have funded pro-democracy programs in Ukraine, including the National Endowment for Democracy, the United States Agency for International Development, the U.S. Department of State, the Peace Corps, Freedom House and the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.
‘In addition, the memo also blames the eruption of protests on the European Union. The International Renaissance Fund, a Ukrainian NGO founded by George Soros, is likewise identified as an enemy of the party.’
Democratic Principles?
Says PASOS: ‘News of the memo drew a sharp rebuke from PASOS Executive Director Jeff Lovitt.
‘“Our members are not dangerous to anyone who defends democratic principles and the free exchange of ideas,” Lovitt said. “What is dangerous is a political party identifying independent pro-democracy groups as enemies.”’
Calling a bunch of thugs who stormed government offices and removed a democratically-elected president by violent street protests ‘pro-democracy’ beggars belief. So does the use of the expression to refer to unashamed interference and destabilisation of a sovereign state by US NGO’s. Welcome to the world of the Eurocracy. The EU and the US can interfere in the internal affairs of other nations. But woe betide Russia when it defends it interests.
The EU expanding its empire
Jeff Lovitt is also Co-Chair of yet another Pro-EU expansionist body. This is the well-funded ‘Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum.’ This group boasted:
‘Many participants of the EaP Civil Society Forum have been active in various sectors of Euromaidan movement. Several examples below are just a tip of the iceberg of the civic activities that our colleagues from Ukraine have been involved in.’
It then listed a number of groups which helped destabilise Ukraine. These included ‘Euromaidan Council’ and ‘Maidan SOS’. Even the name ‘Euromaidan’ betrays the origin of the driving force.
An Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum webpage lists its Steering Committee. This had the strange give-away picture of what appear to be sock puppets at the top of this page. The picture has now been removed.
‘The Forum was created as part of a European Commission effort “to support the further development of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs)” and “to promote contacts among CSOs and facilitate their dialogue with public authorities.”’
Moreover, who funds PASOS, the Policy Association for an Open Society? Any guesses? Does the expression ‘… Open Society’ in its title give any clues?

George Soros: funded the violent Ukrainian street uprisings through his Open Society Institute.
Billionaire financier George Soros was behind the Ukrainian uprising which cost dozens of lives and toppled elected President Viktor Yanukovych, Christian Voice has learned.
Soros helped finance the so-called ‘Arab Spring’, and as long as go as 2011, Russia Today ran a story about Soros wanting to ‘do a Libya’ on Ukraine. It said the concerns were ‘openly voiced by Yulia Timoshenko in 2008.’ (Yulia Timoshenko co-led the Orange Revolution and was the first female Prime Minister of Ukraine.)
Infowars says: In response to the accusations leveled by Aleksandr Yefremov, the Soros Foundation “said in a special statement that all funds allocated for Ukrainian programs are being spent on the development of the open and democratic society and also for helping Ukrainian citizens, who suffered from the effects of the international financial crisis.”
But that’s not the whole story. Soros has set up and funded an organisation called Spilna Sprava, translated as “Common Cause,” through the Open Society Institute. According to Infowars, the ‘Open Society Institute, now known as Open Society Foundations (OSF), doles out grants to activist NGOs in central Europe attempting to undermine the Russian Federation.’
Spilna Sprava is mentioned in the 2009 annual report of the International Renaissance Foundation (IRF), an organization described as “an integral part of the Open Society Institute network (established by American philanthropist George Soros) that incorporates national and regional foundations in more than thirty countries around the world, including Africa, Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.” IRF cooperates with the International Monetary Fund and European banksters interested in “economic reforms” and “integration processes and trends” in Ukraine and Moldova.

The pro-EU violence was not confined to ransacking government buildings and walking around with baseball bats. Russia Today claims that the former chief of Ukraine’s Security Service confirmed allegations that snipers who killed dozens of people during the violent unrest in Kiev operated from a building controlled by the opposition on Maidan Square. Russia Today may be a Putin-friendly news source, but the evidence they report seems to indicate that there is a lot more to the story of the Ukrainian uprising than is being told in the British and American press.
However, the BBC reports on an embarrassing tape which has come to light in which senior US officials discuss in a foul-mouthed exchange which opposition leader they would like to install in Ukraine.
The leader of Spilna Sprava, Alexander Danilyuk, fled Ukraine in early February and is now reportedly in the UK. He did not own up to Open Society funding of his far-right group in an interview he gave to Voice of Russia. His group, along with other pro-EU and crypto-fascist groups who comprise the ‘Maidan’ movement, succeeded in Mr Soros’s aim of toppling both the Ukrainian government and the democratically-elected president. Fears have been voiced in Israel that the unrest is now spilling over into anti-Semitism.
An ‘Open letter on the Future of Ukraine‘ was published last month and signed by a number of intellectuals, Eurocrats and globalsts. Arguing against Yanukovich and his desire to step away from the EU in favour of closer ties with Russia, it said:
The new authoritarians in Kyiv should know that there will be a high price to pay for their repressive policies and for abandoning the European aspirations of the people. It is not too late for us to change things for the better and prevent Ukraine from becoming a dictatorship. Passivity in the face of the authoritarian turn in Ukraine and the country’s reintegration into a newly expanding Russian imperial sphere of interests pose a threat to the European Union’s integrity
And also a threat to its expansionist plans, the business interests of George Soros, and the desire of American globalists to sideline Russia and undermine or annex its allies. Similar sentiments helped mobilise the medacious and tragic Western support of the Islamist rebels in Syria, a key Russian middle-eastern ally.
The letter was signed by former foreign ministers Ana Palacio of Spain and Bernard Kouchner of France, and Chris Stone and Aryeh Neier of the Open Society Institute of George Soros.
Timothy Garton Ash – globalist
Several of the signatories, including Timothy Garton-Ash, Professor of European Studies at Oxford, are also members of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) founded in 2007. The letter was also signed by the ECFR’s director, Blairite Mark Leonard.
The ECFR in turn has strong links with the globalist Bilderberg group and appears to be modelled on another globalist think-tank and collection of the rich and powerful, the American Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). We have analysed some of the linking personnel HERE.
Whether it has been Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Syria or now Ukraine, George Soros’s ability to foment unrest against governments that are not advancing his financial interests, are not ‘democratic’ enough or are too close to Russia through his Open Society funding of violent opposition groups is responsible for countless loss of life in every country in which he has meddled.
Let us pray that he, and the rest of the ‘Kings of the Earth’ spoken about in Psalm 2, will be brought to account. And let us pray that the Lord will raise up leaders in Ukraine not funded by East of West, but after his own heart.

Father kicked to death for complaining about the noise from a party- The late Danny Walsh with his daughter.
A father was kicked to death in front of his family after complaining about a noisy house party, a court has heard.
Danny Walsh, 30, was walking past the house with his partner Katie Loosemore and their two-year-old daughter Layla May when he stopped to remonstrate.
He was worried the noise would wake neighbours with children — including a girl with a terminal illness.
But he was confronted by tenant Kelly Parsons, who screamed at him to leave, the jury heard.
When Mr Walsh returned to complain a second time he was attacked by Kelly’s brothers Ben and Sam Croft, who knocked him to the ground and kicked his head as he lay motionless, the court was told.
Danny suffered serious brain injuries and died hours later in hospital.
Gordon Aspden, prosecuting, told Lincoln Crown Court: “Mr Walsh made a fatal mistake — he decided to get involved.”
He said the Croft brothers “encouraged” each other to kick him — until they realised he was badly hurt.
He added: “He was unconscious, unresponsive and bleeding from the mouth. Attempts were made to rouse him but he didn’t wake up. The reason for that is simple. He was dying.”
The jury heard Sam Croft, 22, left the scene in Grantham in a car but Ben, 24, called an ambulance.
The brothers, of Barrowby, Lincs, both deny murder on July 28 last year. The trial continues.
Just a few years ago, such a story would have been a rarity. Now, thanks to the lack of respect for human life which successive governments have encouraged since the 1960s, it is common to hear of teenagers murdered for a mobile phone or a grandfather beaten to death for asking yobs to move on. Targeted schools. Saltley School’s head teacher, Mr Bains, resigned last year after a critical Ofsted report and a campaign against him instigated by Islamist governors.
A Muslim plot to take over schools in Birmingham and Bradford shows how good they are and how poor Christians are at advancing their respective world-views.
Operation Trojan Horse, as the Islamic scheme is called, involves identifying schools in predominantly Muslim areas which are struggling. For each school, a group of parents committed to Islam is built up.
Next comes a campaign to elect one or more faithful Muslims to the school governing body.
After that, the head teacher is undermined by the use of complaints to local MPs and education authorities as well as by identifying “weak and disgruntled staff” who can cause problems for the head with Ofsted.
A letter containing the details of the Muslim schools take-over plot came to light after it was leaked to the National Association of Head Teachers.
Muslim Campaign secures leadership changes in schools
It claims responsibility for leadership changes at four schools, Adderley Primary, Saltley School, Park View School and Regents Park Community Primary School.
The inspectors’ statement appears to confirm claims in the letter that the group has “caused a great amount of organised disruption in Birmingham and as a result we have our own academies and are on the way to getting rid of more head teachers and taking over their schools”.
The letter, seen by the BBC, targets another 12 schools in Birmingham, and was also sent to a contact in Bradford.
It urges the recipient to use Ofsted reports to identify schools in predominantly Muslim areas which are struggling and adds: ”Operation ‘Trojan Horse’ has been very carefully thought through and is tried and tested within Birmingham, implementing it in Bradford will not be difficult for you.”
Schools ‘corrupting their children with sex education’
It states that parents could be encouraged to turn against the leadership team if they are told the school is “corrupting their children with sex education, teaching about homosexuals, making their children pray Christian prayers and [carrying out] mixed swimming and sport”.
Needless to say, the revelations have sent the politicians into a spin, with Liam Byrne, Labour MP for Hodge Hill, holding ‘urgent talks’ with Ofsted, City Council officials, the office of Michael Gove and DfE officials.
“These are deeply disturbing allegations, which is why Ofsted has been called in,” he said.
The chastening point for Christians will be that the inbuilt corruption in sex education and the pro-sodomy teaching which is now mandated by the Equality Act 2010, not to mention the pro-evolution slant of biology, affect Christian children as well, but that Christian parents have in the main shown not the slightest inclination to protect them from such ungodly influences.
Secularists and Muslims advancing their world-views
It may well be that Christian parents have always assumed that schools are much as they were when they went to school or that, believing in shared cultural values, they put too much trust into schools, teachers, experts and those in authority, even those in sex education promotion groups and working parties.
It has been obvious for some time that Secularists are far better at advancing their world-view than Christians, and it comes as no surprise given what we know of Islamic ambitions of world dominance to discover that Muslims are interested in advancing their world-view as well.
As the letter states: “We have an obligation to our children to fulfil our roles and ensure these schools are run on Islamic principles.”
Do Christians even know what a Christian world-view is?
But do Christians know what Christian principles are, apart from ‘love’? We speak above of a secularist world-view, and of a Muslim world-view, but do Christians even know what a Christian world-view is? Do Christians even know we have one?
Do we know that the ‘earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein’? (Psalm 24:1)
Are we aware that ‘Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people’? (Prov 14:34)
Do we know that we are to teach the ways of the Lord ‘diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up’? (Deut 6:7)
Have we read that as much as parents should ‘provoke not your children to wrath’ that we have a responsibility to ‘bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord’? (Eph 6:4), to ‘Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it’ (Prov 22:6)
Do we ‘go in the strength of the Lord GOD’ and ‘make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only’? (Psalm 71:16).
Are we certain to say of God ‘Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth’? (Psalm 119:142).
Or do we think that Jesus has swept away all the Old Testament to replace it with a ‘law of love’ that requires us to give in to evil, roll over and let our children take their chance?
Do we personalise away the injunction to go about ‘Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ’? (2Cor 10:5)
Have we remembered that providing for our families includes defending and protecting them: ‘But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel’? (1Tim 5:8)
Advance the Christian faith
The Muslims behind ‘Operation Trojan Horse’ are simply doing what they should do as Muslim parents; make sure their children are being taught according to their faith.
Yes, there are Christian academies doing great work, but Christians could and should have been getting themselves onto school governing bodies and removing ungodly head teachers not just by ‘praying them out’ but by seeking God for what to do themselves. It isn’t ‘unsporting’ or not quite ‘British’ to fight for what is right and advance the Christian faith in every avenue of life!
And we can surely think of a more positive and imaginative name for such a campaign than ‘Operation Trojan Horse’!

Dominic Crouch, bullied to death after a homosexual role-play game.
School children will be taught that not all pornography is bad and act out scenes as homosexuals if teachers follow sex education guidance just issued by the Department for Education.
The Times says that it is the first time for 14 years that advice on sex education has been updated. The guidance currently in use makes no reference to issues such as internet safety or “sexting” using mobile devices.
However, rather than just update the advice to warn about those topics, the new guidelines have included pro-gay propganda and taken a sexual libertarian slant.
The guidelines were drawn up by Brook Advisory, the PSHE Association and the Sex Education Forum, all of which are pro-contraception, pro-abortion, pro-homosexual and frankly pro-promiscuity.
Although supported by the Department for Education, the new guidelines do not have legal force. But many teachers will assume they come down from authority and those who were already inclined that way will seize upon them to justify their position to worried parents.
One of the resources recommended to teachers, an e-magazine from the Sex Education Forum, advises teachers to “teach in a non-judgmental way” about pornography and tells them: “Pornography is hugely diverse — it’s not necessarily ‘all bad’.”
Last year Ofsted published a report saying that sex education was taught badly (whatever they mean by that) in between a third and half of schools and said that secondary schools should teach about the influence of pornography on students’ understanding of healthy sexual relationships.
It also says that sex education must not deal only with heterosexual relations. “Teachers should never assume that all intimate relationships are between opposite sexes. The advice ignores the dynamics of the playground. A pupil acting out a gay role-play will have that stigma attached for the rest of his school life. It will give bullies a weapon and could cement the idea in an adolescent mind that he or she might indeed be homosexual.
The guidance is a recruiting-sergeant for the homosexual world and is certain to bring misery and possibly death in its wake.
On 18 May 2010, Dominic Crouch committed suicide by jumping off the roof of a six-storey block of flats near his school in Cheltenham. He was 15. In the note he left his family, he wrote: “Dear Family, I’m so so sorry for what I’m about to do. I have been bullied a lot recently and had a lot of shit made up about me that ain’t true.”
It emerged that Dominic had taken up a dare to kiss another boy on a school trip during a game of spin the bottle. Some participants recorded the game on their mobile phones and the images circulated. Dominic, who was dyslexic and found it difficult to formulate a quick retort, became the butt of jokes when he returned to St Edward’s after the trip.
The Stonewall homosexual campaign group jumped on the idea of ‘homophobic bullying’ and started putting it about that Dominic might have been homosexual, something he and his family always denied. Stonewall even persuaded his father, Roger, to go around schools on a non-bullying mission and made him ‘hero of the year‘ on 3rd November 2011, the night Melanie Phillips was named ‘bigot of the year’ at the ceremony hosted by Stephen K Amos. Weeks later, in December 2011, Roger Crouch committed suicide as well.
Let us pray that the authors of this guidance do not end up with blood on their hands.

The Romeike family will be able to stay in the United States following a remarkable turnaround by the federal government.
Uwe and Hannelore Romeike have been fighting to keep their family in the United States, where they immigrated legally from Germany in 2008.
Had the family stayed in Germany they would have faced heavy penalties because of their decision to home-school.
All went well until the Obama administration began threatening to deport the family to Germany, where the state would be able to take custody of their children as they did in the case of the Wunderlich family.
It came as a surprise to everybody when a Supervisor with the Department of Homeland Security called HSLD to say the Romeikes had been granted “indefinite deferred status”. The federal government’s 24-hour turnaround was announced today on the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) Facebook page.
Uwe Romeike commented in a statement on the HSLDA website: “We are happy to have indefinite status even though we won’t be able to get American citizenship any time soon. As long as we can live at peace here, we are happy. We have always been ready to go wherever the Lord would lead us—and I know my citizenship isn’t really on earth.”
HSLDA Chairman Michael Farris gave the glory to God.
“This is an incredible victory that I can only credit to Almighty God. I also want to thank those who spoke up on this issue—including that long ago White House petition. We believe that the public outcry made a huge impact. What an amazing turnaround—in just 24 hours,” he said.

Ugandan homosexual activists have learnt from Western pro-sodomy propaganda in their use of rainbow colours and moving the debate away from sex and onto ‘love’.
An independent Scotland will give asylum to Ugandans who consider themselves persecuted by anti-gay laws, reports The Herald.
Humza Yousaf, Scotland’s Minister For External Affairs, has written to UK Foreign Secretary William Hague detailing the Scottish Government’s gesture to welcome “any Ugandan” persecuted by the new laws.
He also intends to raise the matter with Ugandan ministers at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer.
Unless William Hague follows suit, the measure would need Scottish independence before coming into force. It is however unlikely that the ‘No’ camp will use the announcement in the independence debate, so entrenched is the pro-homosexual position in British politics and media.
Humza Yousaf. Which tartan is that? If not Clan Yousaf, can anyone shed any light?
Humza Yousaf, 29, was elected via the Mixed Member Proportional Representation from the Party List. He has been a spokesman for Islamic Relief. Having a soft spot for sodomites is not normally an Islamic trait.
In his letter Mr Yousaf urges Mr Hague “to offer asylum to any Ugandans who feels threatened or persecuted by the legislation”, adding that “Scotland will play her part in providing asylum for those seeking refuge from this draconian legislation”.
He adds that during the Games “no one from any part of the Commonwealth who visits Scotland will be under any doubt about our values as a welcoming, open and tolerant society”.
But not tolerant of African values or Christian virtue, of course.
The announcement raises questions. Nigeria, the biggest country in Africa, and also a Commonwealth member, has a recently-enacted law which also outlaws homosexual propaganda. Will Humza extend Scotland’s offer to Nigerians?
Africans are resourceful people and not devoid of acting skills. It is easy to claim to be homosexual and impossible to disprove. Scotland can look forward to a flood of applications for asylum if independence goes through.

The Scottish Parliament has passed a bill that assigns one social worker to every child in Scotland.
The controversial measure, Known as ‘Children and Young People (Scotland) Bill’, was passed in Edinburgh last week with a vote of 103-0 with 15 abstentions. It allocates a ‘named person’ with unspecified powers to each child.
Christian groups in Scotland have spoken out against the controversial proposal.
A Free Church of Scotland spokesman said there has not been “sufficient evidence” to apply the plans universally or to ensure “parents are protected from undue interference by the state”.
Among the other organisations that have spoken out against the move are the the Law Society of Scotland, the Faculty of Advocates, the Church of Scotland and the Catholic Church.
Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said, ‘This is a massive and expensive intrusion into family life. It comes from the totalitarian philosophy that the State owns the nation’s children.’
Christipher Booker, writing in the Telegraph, said: ‘In fact, the Bill is remarkably vague about the powers to be given to these “named persons”. Will they be free to arrive unannounced at the family home to check on how a child is being treated by its parents, when it goes to bed, what food it is given, what political or religious opinions it is being brought up with? In other words, the Bill gives no idea of how this hugely ambitious scheme, estimated to cost Scotland’s local authorities up to £138 million a year, will work in practice. And most worrying of all, to anyone familiar with the failings of our existing “child protection” system, is how often the most damaging errors can arise when professionals are charged with reporting to social workers their suspicion that something in a child’s life might be amiss.’
The bill was framed in an attempt to bring under Scotland under obligations stipulated in the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). The UN Convention includes a provision to assign a specific government worker to every child at birth.
Normally a social worker is only assigned to a child in cases of child abuse or neglect. Once this bill is implemented, there will be a named guardian for every child in Scotland from when the child is born to when they reach eighteen.
Tories have warned that the bill will almost certainly be challenged. Liz Smith, the Tory spokeswoman for young people, said “If this goes through, it will almost certainly be subject to legal challenge.
“That is because it is a measure that will intrude on family life, and divert resources away from those who really need help.”
