    Government Steamrollers Anti-Conscience Regulations

    The Government last night rode roughshod over Christian conscience as they won a House of Lords vote on the Sexual Orientation Regulations.

    A motion by Democratic Unionist Peer Lord Morrow to annul the Regulations was heavily defeated as the Government’s ‘pay-roll’ vote turned out in force.

    The vote means that the Sexual Orientation Regulations are now law in Northern Ireland and will be introduced in England and Wales in April. Scotland will also follow suit.

    The Regulations will force the owners of Christian businesses to offer goods and services to homosexuals against their conscience. A Christian photographer could face jail for refusing to take pictures of a civil partnership event. The owner of a guest house would be forced to allow two practising homosexuals to share a bed under his roof. A Christian printer would be acting illegally if he decides not to produce leaflets for a ‘gay pride’ march.

    A similar trend is happening around the world. The government in Brazil is bringing in a similar law. Canada already has one, though nowhere near as draconian as ours, after a court ruled that freedom of conscience must take precedence.

    During the House of Lords debate, around two thousand Christians held a torch-lit act of witness opposite the House of Lords to stand up for freedom of conscience and freedom of religion. The Rev Ian Paisley MP came across from the House of Commons to address the protestors. Earlier, a petition of 20,000 names was delivered to Her Majesty the Queen.

    It is the fifth time Christians have gathered outside the Houses of Parliament in under eighteen months. In July and October 2005 and then in February 2006 hundreds came to pray against the Governments’ religious hatred proposals. The Government were famously defeated by one vote when the Prime Minister missed the final division. Last year also saw a witness against Lord Joffe’s Assisted Dying Bill.

    Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice was at the witness. He said afterwards:

    ‘The Government and their ‘gay rights’ friends have no right to impose their morality, or lack of it, on the 99% of the population who are not that way inclined. Christians, members of other faiths and indeed of none cannot be forced to act against their conscience by providing services to those whose activities they find perverted, disgusting or simply against the clear, unequivocal word of God.

    ‘The Government have totally misunderstood our position. They think we shall back down. But for Christians, it’s a case of “Can’t pay, won’t pay.” In other words it’s not that we are merely refusing to go along with the Governments’ wickedness. It is that we cannot do it in all conscience. For us to offer our services to those who are carrying on against nature as the children of disobedience would be to deny our faith. We can not and will not do that.

    ‘Already, some churches have said they will close their adoption agencies altogether rather than place children in the hands of homosexuals. Others are planning to stop hiring out their church halls to outside events. It is the wider community which will suffer.

    ‘The Churches are saying to the Government, “If you want a fight, we’ll give you one”.’

    School Gay Promos Will be Opposed on the Ground

    A Christian group has today promised that gay and lesbian promotions in schools and police action against students who use ‘gay’ to mean ‘as a term of abuse will be opposed.

    The Home Office issued guidance last week for schools to hold ‘lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual awareness months’.  They claim that these will eliminate what is described as ‘homophobic’ bullying and build tolerance and diversity.

    But Christian Voice has cast doubt on the reality of so-called ‘anti-gay’ bullying and has suggested that forcing homosexuality on children will foster, not tolerance, but resentment and anger.

    Stephen Green, National Director Christian Voice, said today:

    “The Government have no right to impose their morality, or lack of it, on the rest of us.  At a time when it appears to be a real challenge for the Government to get school children to learn the basics of mathematics and written communication, let alone any of the other proper subjects, to force perversion upon them is hardly a constructive use of school time.

    “The Government want teachers to be picking on pupils, pupils and parents spying on teachers, the police catching young thought-criminals all in a scary echo of the worst of Soviet communism or Orwell’s 1984.

    “When kids call each ‘gay’ or ‘lezzi’ in the playground, these are simply terms of abuse.  Such name-calling is no more ‘anti-gay’ than calling someone a ‘pikey’ is anti-Irish.  Children can be spiteful and will always look for the odd one out or for some point of weakness.  Teachers need to reassure the bullied that they are not homosexual or dirty just because someone calls them a stupid name.

    “Overall, school anti-bullying policies need to be holistic, led by example, and informed, not by some vague ‘citizenship’ rubbish, but by reference to the Christian faith.  Anything else will end in failure.  We also need to recognise that the police coming in to quiz pupils who use words like ‘gay’ as a term for ‘rubbish’ is itself a form of bullying.

    “If any pupils are interviewed by the police, Christian Voice will certainly give every assistance so they can bring legal action against the force concerned.  We shall also oppose any ‘Gay Week’ or ‘LGBT Fortnight’ or ‘Diversity Month’ we hear of.

    “More than that, when parents or school students contact us, we can help them to organise their own ground-level opposition to such events, facilitate real discussion of the truth about homosexuality, start to build an understanding of chastity and Godly living, and generally counter darkness with light.

    “Standing up to the godless secular elite in the name of righteousness is exactly what the Lord Jesus did in His day.  He exposed their hypocrisy, their corruption and the way they imposed burdens on ordinary people. The hatred which those in power have for the ways of God and their contempt for those they see as the lower classes remains the same today.   The bullying gays, the thought-police and the diversity czars need to be stood up to today.  By the grace of God alone we can do it.”

    Archers Gay Wedding ‘A Big Turn-Off’

    A Civil Partnership scene being broadcast this week in Britain’s longest-running soap was described today as ‘nauseating’ and ‘a big turn-off’ by a Christian prayer and lobby group.

    Two characters from Radio 4’s ‘The Archers’, farmer Adam Macy and chef Ian Craig, are due to perform the ceremony on Thursday 14th December 2006.

    Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said today:

    “Personally, seeing a picture of actors Andrew Wincott and Stephen Kennedy dressed up in wedding suits holding their glasses of fizz made me feel quite queasy. It brought home the enormity of the nauseating pretence and perversion of a real wedding which every ‘civil partnership’ is.

    “My hope is that the remaining faithful listeners of ‘The Archers’, those who have endured the plaintive politically-correct story-lines of the last few years will at last wake up and find something less grating to listen to.

    “After all, the poor things are now agonising over the destruction of Ruth and David’s marriage. How Editor in Chief Vanessa (‘to be politically correct is to be moral’) Whitburn justifies the morality of that is a mystery.

    “They have recently had to endure such crude propaganda story-lines as the racial harassment of Usha, the Indian lawyer parachuted into the village, Linda Snell’s feng-shui obsession and the repellent ‘gay kiss’ in the polytunnel.

    “Earlier, Ambridge had a woman vicar before the ink was even dry on the Church of England’s decision. Like biblical Athens , Ambridge must always tell of ‘some new thing.’  Indeed, the whole show has forty years of pioneering ‘form’. After all, Jennifer’s baby out of wedlock paved the way for the rest of rural England , whilst her consideration of an abortion was just what the Elite ordered during the furore around the Abortion Act in 1967.

    “I recognise that real ‘Archers’ addicts will find it hard to turn off. There will be those as fascinated as a rabbit caught in the headlights by ‘Adam’ and ‘Ian’ ‘tying the knot’. Others will listen with morbid curiosity like spectators slowing down to get a good view of a road crash.

    “I for one will be avoiding ‘The Archers’.  I prefer art which edifies, elevates and encourages to that which debases, disgusts and depresses. In any case, just before dinner is the wrong time to be rushing to the loo to be sick.  I am praying for a ‘big turn off’ for ‘Adam’ and ‘Ian’s’ anti-Christian charade.

    “On the other hand, do tell me if the latest vicar of Ambridge turns into a Christ-centred evangelical determined to take the whole Gospel of Jesus Christ by word and by example to the needy sinners of the BBC’s progressive hell-on-earth. Revival starting in Ambridge? OK, I shan’t be holding my breath.”

    Police Spent £2,000 on Gay Rights Party

    The Metropolitan Police spent over £2,000 on a party for gay rights activists, Christian Voice has learned.  The party, a reception for European activists, was hosted by the ‘Met’ on the eve of the London Gay Pride Parade, ‘Europride’, in July this year.  In answer to a Freedom of Information Act request from Christian Voice, the Met were forced only yesterday to disclose that they spent £2,172.25 – £22.86 per head – as 14 Met Police Officers entertained 39 European and 42 UK representatives of “LGBT/Pride/HumanRights/Church Organisations”.

    £930 was spent on food, and £500 on ‘Music’.  Between them, the assembled police officers, of whom the most senior was Commander Steve Allen, head of the Met’s Violent Crime Directorate, and the homosexual activists sunk an amazing £462- worth of ‘house wine’ and £112-worth of beer, which must equate to a bottle of wine and at least a couple of bottles of beer each.

    Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said: “I hope no-one was driving home after downing that lot.  Commander Allen must be aware of the link between alcohol and violent crime, and yet he set out to ply emotionally fragile people such as homosexual activists with drink.  The Police said they were concerned for our safety when we set up a Christian witness at ‘Europride’ in the light of a threat stated in a homosexual newspaper.  To fuel possible violence with drink is totally irresponsible.

    “On top of that, the Metropolitan Police have squandered public money making themselves look ‘gay-friendly.’  The public do not expect the police to splash their money around sucking up to contentious political groups.”

    However, the police officer who claimed that a threat he had seen against Christian Voice gave him reason to move the group’s Europride protest site back from the parade, Chief Inspector Steve Deehan, has been undermined by the Met’s inability to provide details of the paper in which the alleged threat was made, and their categorical statement that ‘no threat was made regarding the presence of Christian Voice or any other organisation at the Europride Parade’.

    Stephen Green concluded: “When you can’t trust a police officer to tell you the truth, what is the world coming to?”

    Disgusting Homosexual Event Says it All

    A homosexual event next weekend has been labelled ‘disgusting’ and ‘sad’ by a Christian group.  The so-called ‘masturbate-a-thon’ is to be held on Saturday in a studio in London ‘s Clerkenwell, and is the subject of a ZigZag documentary for Channel 4.  But it is the event itself which has drawn the fire of Christian Voice, who recently organised a protest at the London Gay Pride march for the second year in succession and who last week took the credit for driving the Gay Police Association ‘collectively insane’.

    Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said today:

    There will be a room in which naked homosexuals will be exhibiting and playing with themselves while eyeing up the nearby ‘trade’.  The entire concept is disgusting and sad in equal measure.  It is disgusting because sex as God intended it is between a man and his wife in the privacy of their own room.  It is sad because a pair of homosexuals of either sex cannot do sexual intercourse, so they must resort to mutual masturbation of various kinds or press a part of the anatomy into a use our gracious Creator never intended.

    “The Marie Stopes organisation, Britain ‘s second-biggest private abortionist, is supporting the event.  They say ‘the masturbate-a-thon… also aims to act as a public education device to increase the use of self pleasure as a strategy for safer sex.’

    “In other words, the only way homosexuals can be certain their sexual acts do not pass a disease on to someone else is to do it on their own.  I am sure the porters at Smithfield Market, just down the road from the venue, would have an opinion on what that makes them a bunch of.

    “The event says it all about our society, which apparently has no law in place now which can prevent such an abomination from occurring in the first place.  But it also says everything you need to know about homosexuality, its lack of any vestige of restraint, any contact with the values of civilisation and above all its inherent sterility.

    “Homosexuality is truly a sexual dead-end, which incidentally was the title of my book on the subject.  The good news is, there is a way out of this pathetic and self-destructive lifestyle.  There are Christian ministries providing healing for the underlying pathologies.  By the grace of God people have been forgiven all they have done wrong and been released from this and other lifestyles of disease, degradation and death.  Jesus Christ died to save and lives to heal. No one has to stay gay.”

    Postscript: The event went ahead in 2006 but that was the last London ever saw of it.  Stephen Green took part in a discussion for the programme ZigZag recorded for Channel 4 versus the organisers, Dr Carol Queen and Dr Robert Lawrence, who flew in from San Francisco (of course) for the event, and labelled the event as ‘gay’ in every sense.  The Channel 4 programme was shelved.  The event itself has never been repeated in London.

    Christian Voice Drove Gay Police Mad

    As the row over the anti-Christian ‘in the name of the father’ ad intensified, a prominent Christian group today claimed responsibility for relieving the Gay Police Association of their collective sanity.

    The advertisement, showing a pool of blood next to a Bible, and headed ‘in the name of the father’, blamed Christians for what it described as ‘a 74% increase in homophobic incidents’ which it said had occurred ‘over the last year’.  The ad, which was published last month in the Independent newspaper, has led to a storm of protest from Christians, complaints to the IPCC and ASA, demands for the GPA to back up its claim that Christians are shedding the blood of homosexuals and even a referral to the Met’s hate crimes unit.

    Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said today:

    ‘It is obvious the Indy advertisement is so over the top as to be completely indefensible.  The only explanation is that the Gay Police Association has collectively lost what remained of their sanity.   In that case, I believe Christian Voice can take much of the credit.  No other Christian organisation has done so much that has got under their skin.

    ‘Although the Gay Police Association cannot abide the Christian Police Association, it is the actions of Christian Voice which appear to have tipped them into the clutches of the men in white coats.

    ‘After homosexual police first marched, or minced, in the London Gay Pride Parade in 2003, we published a glossy booklet with photos from the parade entitled Homosexuality and the Police.  That included a call for homosexuals to repent and to walk away from their lifestyle.  It carried the assurance that Jesus Christ could forgive them and heal them.  That led to a page on the GPA website denouncing us.

    ‘Then we held a rally in Bournemouth to commemorate Christian preacher Harry Hammond, who was arrested by a partisan police officer apparently for being the victim of an assault by a gang of homosexuals and then convicted under the Public Order Act.

    ‘Next, we published a briefing paper called Framing mischief by a law which denounced the concept of civil partnerships, observed that only a man and a woman can ever be ‘one flesh’ in sexual intercourse and that extending the benefits of marriage to homosexual pairs was a ‘grotesque parody’ of God’s sacred institution.

    ‘Last year we held the first-ever organised protest at the London Gay Pride March, and we repeated it this year when the event was called ‘Europride’.  The wrath of the homosexuals passing our site, which merely had relevant scriptures on display and some Gospel preaching, was almost satanic.

    ‘Earlier this year, we distributed a leaflet entitled ACPO don’t know right from wrong at the annual meeting of the Association of Chief Police Officers at Excel in London .  We also sent it to ACPO members and APA chairmen throughout England and Wales .  The leaflet told chief police officers that they must acknowledge an objective source of right and wrong, that the only such source was Almighty God in the Lord Jesus Christ, and that the same Bible which condemned racism also condemned homosexual acts.  ACPO promptly issued a statement in which they said how hurt the GPA had been by the content of the leaflet.

    ‘But the coup de gras appears to be our spoof True Vision website, inspired by the Police ‘True Vision’ project to encourage homosexuals to report ‘hate incidents’ and their failure to register ‘True-Vision’ as a web domain.  The site, www.true-vision.org.uk, merges politically-correct language with ‘police-speak’ and real quotations from a police ‘hate- crime manual’ to send up the pro-homosexual posturing of the police, the concept of ‘hate incidents’, the increasing moves towards a ‘police state’ and the whole idea that some victims of crimes should be favoured over others.  Two different police forces, West Midlands and Staffordshire, have tried to close it down and failed, and its mere existence sends the Gay Police Association incandescent with impotent rage.

    ‘Life is imitating art.  Our True Vision website carries the heading ‘Christianity – together we’ll crack it’ (a take-off of various police slogans like ‘street crime – together we’ll crack it’).  The Gay Police Association, having failed to silence Christians, is now attacking the Christian faith itself, just as we predicted.  The good news is, they won’t be any more successful than was the Roman Emperor Nero.

    ‘There has been a massive turn-around in just a quarter of a century.  Twenty-five years ago, one might have allied evangelical Christians with the Establishment, while homosexuals were on the fringe, protesting.  Now it is completely the other way round.  Homosexuals are in the Establishment, evangelical Christians are the protestors, and God is calling us to be in truth what the Prayer Book describes as ‘Christ’s church militant here on earth.’

    ‘When 177 pastors of black-majority churches are moved to throw down a gauntlet to the Government over its Sexual Orientation Regulations, due to be published this autumn, then the Establishment ought to be getting worried.  Christians are not going to put up with attacks on our freedom to express our faith and we are not bowing down to the god of diversity.  We are here, we are out, and we are proud of the cross of Jesus Christ.  The Government and the Gay Police Association just have to get used to it.

    ‘But in the meantime, it is heartening to be so honoured by the Lord Jesus Christ to see His enemies mentally imploding and to know we played our part in that.  To Him be all the glory both now and evermore.’

    Hate Incidents Turn to Farce

    The Gay Police Association have unwittingly sent up the whole idea of ‘homophobic hate incidents’ by reporting a man to the police for describing them as ‘sexual perverts’ in a letter to a national newspaper.

    Christian Voice supporter Graham Wood sent the GPA an email attaching a copy of his letter to the Editor of the Independent.  He received an email back from one Darren Goddard, a member of the GPA National Executive Committee, no less, saying that he had forwarded the email ‘to my local police to have this recorded as (sic) homophobic hate incident’.  Mr Wood was asked not to contact the ‘Gay Police Assocation’ (sic) further.

    In his letter, Mr Wood described the GPA advert, with masterly understatement, as ‘distasteful and banal’ and spoke of the ‘rightful priority of marriage and the family.’  He described homosexuality as ‘a disgusting sexual perversion’ and went on to show that homosexuals are a tiny minority, ‘0.2% of all households’.

    Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said today: ‘The GPA advert complained about an increase in ‘homophobic hate incidents’ and they have just invented another one to add to their collection.  If a robust but measured letter sent to a national newspaper can be regarded as a ‘homophobic hate incident’, then the qualifying threshold is laughably low.

    ‘When author Lynette Burrows questioned whether homosexuals should be allowed to adopt children, her radio interview was also logged as a ‘homophobic hate incident.’  So was the request of Joe and Helen Roberts from Fleetwood in Lancashire for Christian literature to displayed in a library alongside homosexual propaganda.  The Bishop of Chester was investigated by police when he suggested homosexuals could change and become heterosexual.  A letter from me to the Chief Constable of Manchester Police complaining about police marching in full uniform in the London Gay Pride parade was also logged as a ‘homophobic hate incident.’  So was an article by journalist Richard Littlejohn.  Are they all in the GPA statistics?

    ‘It is all beyond parody and it is bringing the police into derision and disrepute.  But for the GPA to suggest that expressions of legitimate opinion form part of a pattern of bloody attacks on homosexuals, as they did with their advert in the Independent, is thoroughly malicious.  It must make us seriously question both their morality and their sanity.

    The Gay Police Association receives an annual grant from the Home Office, apparently because, in the National Policing plan, issued by the Home Secretary, the police service are required in paragraph 4.14, to ‘work towards increasing the trust and confidence of all sections of the community.’  As the GPA has just destroyed the trust and confidence of the Christian community, perhaps we can look to the grant being withdrawn.

    As one who once worked in the Police Service, and in common also with others who were once proud to be associated with it, it is a source of both sadness and anger to see a once honourable , public spirited and powerful force for law and order in the UK being degraded to the level of a third world cowboy outfit which the modern Police Service is fast becoming.

    I write with regard to the so called ‘Gay’ Police Association’s advert in the Independent entitled In the Name of the Father’.

    Not only was the advert distasteful and banal, but for many Christians it was yet another example of an attack upon the rightful priority of marriage and the family in that the homosexual ethos being promoted is a disgusting sexual perversion and ought not to be tolerated in a civilised society.

    I’m sure that the majority of taxpayers would far prefer that the ‘Gay Police’ brigade be more gainfully employed (with our, the taxpayer’s, resources and money) in fighting real crime rather than the pretended grievances of a very tiny, but vociferous, minority of sexual perverts.  (perhaps you were unaware for example, that fewer than 0.2% of all households in England and Wales are headed by a same sex couple? – 2001 Census) and homosexuals collectively are also an insignificant minority in terms of numbers in the UK . Why should the majority be subjected to the whingeing of this minority?

    The question that the Independent should be asking is: why are our Police forces in the UK being systematically politicised, and why are they being made the instruments of fulfilling Government social policies on sexuality which are abhorrent to the majority of people in the UK ?  Perhaps such questions would be far too ‘independent’ and objective for the Independent to ask.

    Civil Partnerships ‘An Affront’ Says Christian Voice

    As the first ‘Civil Partnerships’ were taking place in England and Wales, a Christian group today described the ceremonies as a sham and an affront to Almighty God and to common decency. Ordinary people would be revolted by the sight of two men or two women kissing in a parody of a marital embrace, and the activities the partnerships legitimise are described in Scripture as an ‘abomination’ and as ‘vile affections’. The group called for prayer for all involved.

    Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said today:

    “Despite all the legislation man can pass, two men or two women will never be ‘one flesh’ as the Bible speaks of marriage. In sexual intercourse, a couple consummate their marriage, which in God”s ideal is the time each relinquish their virginity. Homosexuals cannot do sexual intercourse together, and have to resort to mutual masturbation or pressing a part of the human body into a use its gracious Creator never intended.

    “Civil Partnerships will do great evil. They will cement sad, deluded people into a lifestyle characterised by deceit, disease, degradation and death. They will lead to abuse for immigration or business purposes. They will be used to thwart the police in legitimate criminal investigations: civil partners may not be compelled to give evidence against one another, mimicking the exemption for married couples, which is itself based on the Biblical ‘one-flesh’ principle.

    “Ordinary people will be revolted by the sight of these couples embracing, and the recognition in our law of what the Bible describes as an abomination (Lev 18:22) and ‘vile affection’ (Romans 1:26) will bring judgment on our land from the same Almighty God who destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. Our national rebellion from God’s ways encapsulated in this affront to common decency is made more ironic coming days before we celebrate the time in human history when God Himself became flesh and dwelt among us, ready to die for us on the cross.

    “In addition, these disgusting spectacles have given Islamic fundamentalists fresh ammunition in their war of words against this nation. They can with even greater justification hold this United Kingdom up as an example of moral sickness, depravity and decadence which, they will say, must be destroyed.

    “The response of the Christian Church should be to stand against this evil and pray for our leaders to turn from their wickedness and follow the ways of God, given for our good. We need God-fearing men to call this nation to repentance from top to bottom. We must reassert the Christian faith of this United Kingdom in the face of both Politically-Correct and Islamic fundamentalism. We must pray for those who believe themselves to be homosexual or who are living a homosexual lifestyle. Sham recognition of what God detests is not the answer; they need repentance, forgiveness at the foot of the cross and healing. Finally, we must pray for all Christian ex-gay ministries and for the whole Church to preach the Gospel of deliverance from sin and the healing power of Jesus Christ. No-one has to stay gay, and I pray that the Gospel of Jesus Christ brought by the love and grace of God will eventually shed light into this present darkness.”

    It was Sunday 4th September 2005.  The dead were still floating in the streets as a rescue operation was evacuating thousands from the flood-ravaged city.  Meanwhile, just a week after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, a couple of dozen homosexuals tottered up Bourbon Street in the French Quarter, the only district of New Orleans still above the water level, under a rainbow banner and a sign asking ‘Life goes on?’

    Without the intervention of Katrina, the weekend would have seen the summit, or nadir, of the annual ‘Southern Decadence’, a six-day festival of fetishism, sadism, promiscuity, indecency, obscenity and all the other tawdry aspects of homosexual life, which was down to run from Wednesday through to Monday.  Even a French Quarter tourism site described it as “sort of like a gayer version of Mardi Gras” (held in February) which is “most famous (or infamous) for the displays of naked flesh which characterize the event,” with “public displays of sexuality . . . pretty much everywhere you look.”  Two days after the Hurricane struck, and one day before the celebration of decadence was due to begin, the levee broke and the Big Easy was flooded, with massive loss of life.

    Gays Party Amid the Dead

    The devastation and suffering wreaked on thousands by Hurricane Katrina was not going to stop New Orleans’ homosexuals partying.  “It’s New Orleans, man. We’re going to celebrate,” Matt Menold, a 23-year musician wearing a sombrero and a guitar slung on his back, told the Associated Press.  An employee of Johnny White’s Sports Bar said: “The French Quarter came out virtually unscathed.  We’re high and dry.”  An account of the small parade on the homosexual news-site 365gay.com noted:

    “It was a scene like something from a Fellini movie. Amid the death, the destruction, and suffering in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina a small parade behind a tattered rainbow flag made its way up Bourbon Street on Sunday.  The marchers said they were celebrating Southern Decadence.  The group – about two dozen people – all said they lived in the largely gay French Quarter.  Defiant, they said they were not about to flee the community despite orders from the city to do so.  One marcher carried a sign proclaiming, ‘Life Goes On?'”  It was carpenter John Lambert who carried the sign, dressed as one of the ‘Village People’, a band with a big homosexual fan-base for their recordings ‘YMCA’ and ‘In the Navy’.  “Hey, we’ve got to keep our morale up too,” said Jill Sandars, aka ‘Jelly Sandwich’.

    Callousness

    “The shocking callousness of New Orleans’ gay activists towards the severe suffering of its fellow citizens cannot be adequately articulated in a news report,” says James Hartline, a former homosexual, who describes the “Southern Decadence” festival as being “replete with tens of thousands of men and women engaged in public nudity, prostitution, illegal drug use and destructive public S & M sex.”

    “The idea that human beings are continuing to party while hundreds of thousands of fellow citizens are starving, dying and suffering from a multitude of sicknesses brings into focus the real lack of judgment that these constant advocates of special gay rights demonstrate in a time of crisis.”  According to Agape Press, Hartline himself has AIDS and is now warning homosexuals about the consequences of their lifestyle.  He was described as a ‘spoilsport’ on a homosexual website.

    Southern Decadence in Exile

    Nearby, in the town of Lafayette, La, a “Southern Decadence in Exile” event went ahead with around a hundred participants on Wednesday 7th September, featuring transvestites and “Floatin’ Floozies,” according to the event’s website.  There are in fact two competing ‘official’ Southern Decadence websites, .net and .com, with the latter connected to AmbushOnline, a website which markets the ‘GLBT side of New Orleans,’ promotes the annual Mardi Gras in February and aims for the dubious honour of putting New Orleans in the ‘Top Ten Gay Destinations Travel List.’

    Another event which has left New Orleans is the ‘National GLBT Business Convention’ which will move to the Wyndham Anatole in Dallas, Texas over 21st October to 1st November.

    New Orleans will need homosexual tourists when the city is reconstructed, says Brian Sands, who has lived in the French Quarter for 17 years.  Sands evacuated the night before Katrina hit, but said: “From what I’ve heard the French Quarter didn’t flood any worse that what we get during a heavy rainstorm,” adding, “I want to wait for things to settle down before I go back.”  When he finally returns, he hopes more homosexuals will join him: “When New Orleans is up and running again, we desperately need you to come back,” he said. “We need you to bring the city back to life.”

    Judgment

    Life was on the mind of Repent America’s Michael Marcavage as well.  “Louisiana had a total of ten abortion clinics with half of them operating in New Orleans,” he said.  “Additionally, New Orleans has always been known as one of the murder capitals of the world, with a rate ten times the national average.”  Marcavage claims that the three past mayors of New Orleans have all welcomed Mardi Gras, Southern Decadence and ‘Girls Gone Wild’ in which drunken women expose their breasts in exchange for plastic jewellery.  Last year, he says, a local pastor sent video footage of sex acts being performed at Southern Decadence in full view of local policemen to the police, the city council and the media.  The council ignored the evidence and continued to welcome the “exciting event.”

    There will be more than a few who will have said in the past “If God does not deal with New Orleans, He will have to apologise to Sodom and Gomorrah.”  The theme of judgment on New Orleans and warning to the USA has not been exclusive to Christians.  Some newspapers suggested that Katrina was the punishment the US received for failing to sign the Kyoto accord, Islamic militants rejoiced that “private” Katrina joined in jihad against the U.S. for – among other things – the Iraq war, and some suggested that the hurricane was God’s punishment on the U.S. for cooperating in the removal of Jews from the Gaza strip.  Beyond these speculations is a more general acknowledgement that New Orleans, the epicentre of the disaster, was a “sin city” whose dedication to violence, drink, sex, drugs and even voodoo harboured few rivals.  In a rare piece of good news, it seems the message may even be getting through to the city council:

    Purification

    The day after the levee broke, the day when Southern Decadence was due to start, Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco called for a state-wide day of prayer. “As we face the devastation wrought by Katrina, as we search for those in need, as we comfort those in pain and as we begin the long task of rebuilding, we turn to God for strength, hope and comfort,” she said.  Meanwhile, New Orleans City Council President Oliver Thomas, after witnessing the horrors first hand and hearing talk of Sodom and Gomorrah, commented, “Maybe God’s going to cleanse us.”

    The theme of cleansing or purification has become a frequently discussed topic as the tragedy in the affected states unfolds.  Most would say a hurricane is an ‘Act of God’.  Hurricanes are named by a system of rotating boy/girl/boy/girl names after the letters of the alphabet.  By one of those co-incidences which only Almighty God can manufacture, the name ‘Katrina’ means ‘purity’.  A version of the name ‘Catherine’, it comes from the same root as a ‘cathartic’ or ‘purifying’ experience.  Purity blew into New Orleans and purity broke the levees and flooded the city.  When a hurricane has been particularly devastating, the name is retired.  There will never be another ‘Katrina’ and that may mean that New Orleans may only have this single opportunity to respond to the awesome purity of God.  God often gives only one warning.

    Defiance Vs. Repentance

    New Orleans sowed the wind possibly to a greater degree than any other city in the world.  It reaped the whirlwind. (Hos 8:7)  “Behold, a whirlwind of the Lord is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind; it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.” (Jer 23:19) Could the experience of Elijah be prophetic to the United States as a whole?  After the wind was an earthquake, and after the earthquake a fire.  God showed His power without speaking in three terrifying natural disasters before the cowering Elijah finally heard a still small voice. (1Kgs 19:11-12)

    How wonderful it would be if the city of New Orleans does not just clean up the filth from the flood but the sludge of the sin which has for too long disfigured the so-called ‘Big Easy.’  The USA is explicitly a nation under God, which trusts in God and asks God to ‘bless America’.  What an expression of trust in God and holy fear of God it would be if the people of New Orleans told the abortionists, the criminals, the pimps and whores, the drug pushers, the voodoo priests and the homosexual tourists, “Your presence has cursed us. We don’t want you back; we don’t want your money.”  And what blessing it would bring on the whole United States if the whole of that land followed such an example.

    “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)  A city is not a candidate for eternal life, but if it turns against God, it can start a whole lot of people on the fast-track to hell.  As American founding father George Mason famously said: “As nations (read states and cities as well) cannot be judged or punished in the next life, so they must be in this.” That was true of Sodom, it was true of the seven nations of Canaan and it has been true of every following civilisation.  The Washington Blade, a homosexual newspaper, headlined its story about the homosexual response to Katrina: “New Orleans defiant in face of disaster.”  Being defiant will not help in the face of the purity of God; the only viable attitude is to be repentant.  May New Orleans repent; may the USA repent; and may the United Kingdom repent, lest we all perish. (Luke 13:5)

    Christian Witness against London ‘Gay Pride’

    The first-ever organised Christian witness against London’s ‘Gay Pride’ was held earlier today in London’s Pall Mall.  Apart from four arrests of violent ‘gay pride’ activists, the protest, organised by Christian Voice, the evangelical group whose religious convictions on homosexuality recently led to discrimination against them by the Co-op Bank, went off without serious incident, thanks mainly to a large police presence.

    Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, said afterwards:

    “I want to pay tribute to the police who protected our safety and our right to peaceful protest.  They moved swiftly to arrest the violent trouble-makers, without being at all heavy-handed.  I have nothing but praise for them on this occasion.

    “The purpose of our witness was two-fold.  Firstly, we had to make clear that even in politically-correct Britain, Christians are still prepared to stand up for their Lord and deplore the sin of Sodom being paraded, in all its obscenity, and with the support of police parading in it in full uniform, through the streets of London.  The Bible says: ‘Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.’

    “Secondly, I was deeply saddened by the sight of so many men and women celebrating their involvement in a sinful lifestyle characterised by deceit, degradation and death.  We just had to reach out in the love of Christ with the message that Jesus died to save sinners like us and like them.

    “Sadly, all we got back from ‘the gays’ was hatred, expressed in screaming and obscene gestures, and threats of violence – actual violence on those four occasions during our hour of witness.  I did not see any tolerance from the supposedly tolerant, nor any respect for the right of free speech.  It is as if Satan cannot bear one word of dissent.

    “Yesterday, as we protested at the Chinese Embassy against their appalling abuses of human rights, such as imprisonment without trial, torture and enforced abortion, I wondered how human beings can behave in such a depraved manner and with such lack of humanity to those who just disagree with them.  Today, seeing the evil on display in London ‘Gay Pride’, and the hatred towards Christians, I am beginning to understand.  How this world needs to know the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.”
