President Museveni of Uganda has defied the United States by giving his approval to a bill outlawing homosexual propaganda, we are happy to report.
President Obama had threatened a cooling in what he described as “our valued relationship” should Uganda enact the bill, passed by the Ugandan Parliament.
Uganda receives some $400 million in aid annually from the United States, which now has to decide whether to show its displeasure by punishing ordinary Ugandans for their leaders’ disobedience to the wishes of Uncle Sam.
Such an outcome is highly unlikely. Museveni has called Obama’s bluff. And ‘ordinary Ugandans’ are delighted.
The new law allows life imprisonment as the penalty for acts of “aggravated homosexuality” and also criminalises the “promotion” of homosexuality”, reports the BBC.
The bill passed by parliament in December made it a crime not to report homosexuals, which would have made pastoral counselling difficult, but this clause has been removed from the legislation signed by the president.
Much prayer was mobilised in Uganda and across the world, including in neighbouring Kenya.
The Bill follows similar legislation in Nigeria, passed in reaction to pro-homosexual moves in the Commonwealth leaders meeting in October 2012.

This is wonderful news. Pres. Museveni was the President in 1987 when I was in Uganda and I was impressed with his steady hand. Prayers have been answered and God has used the weak things of this world to shame the strong.
Fabulous. Well done President Museveni. I congratulate him for standing strong in his conviction and resisting manipulation by USA. Courage, conviction, righteousness, integrity and standards are rightly non-negotiable.
This is terrible news. Museveni’s obsession with the private lives of his people will see him burn in hell.
Wrong on all counts. The Bill was passed by Parliament and the President considered all angles, including the pressure he came under from Washington, before signing the bill into law with amendments. When a wealthy western homosexual seduces a young Ugandan boy for sex with a few dollars, that is as much corruption as the financial variety, and it is the homosexual who is interfering with that boy’s private life, not the State. Upholding decency and morality counts for good in a leader. And of course, if two homosexual men or women get up to their perverted antics in private, there will be no witnesses and no reporting of a crime. I do hope and pray however that there will be a greater understanding of the homosexual condition and the healing for same-sex desires that the Lord Jesus Christ brings.

The Lord caused kings to reign and to fall, and His word is everlasting.
He is right to do this. President Obama has no right to dictate what laws are passed by foreign governments. This is not democracy.

It is not surprising that western governments are trying to force their corrupt ideals upon third world nations but the mystery is where do they find this money that they are using as blackmail. At the moment the USAs debt stands at 17 trillion and rising while the debt in the UK is over a trillion. To put these amounts into perspective I heard on one of the Christian TV channels that a hypothetical company starting at the time of Jesus and losing one million pounds a day, every day over the last two thousand years would still not have lost a trillion pounds Both countries are still borrowing and giving money away which means that these debts are never going to be paid off, so what does the future hold for the world finance system.
It will be interesting to see if Obama carries out his threat. I do’nt think so.
President is setting an example and is only following what UK ‘s position was a few years ago.

That decision took some courage. Uganda has come a long way to be standing for the high moral ground against the flow of general public opinion in the western world. I regret that our own dear Queen was not advised to take a similar stand over the Marriage Bill. Once more we see the continent of Africa taking the lead on Biblical issues.
How dare President Obama try to blackmail people (a whole country no less) into going against God ‘s word! How dare he! Thank God for President Museveni’s strength in resisting him. If only more governments across the world would guide their citizens according to God’s law.

This has the hand of the United States all over it. It is the result of the vile and hateful campaigning of right-wing Christain Evangelicals preying on the ill-educated and superstitious population. In time, with increasing affluence and education, this will all be swept away and these backward and vunerable peoples will realise that they have a homosexual population of their own, who need their rights protected so that they can live out their hpes and dreams without all of this Christian mumbo jumbo

Uganda actually resisted the ‘hand of the United States’ and all credit to them.
But I can hardly believe the patronising, racist assertion that black Africans are ‘ill-educated’, ‘superstitious’, ‘backward’ and ‘vunerable’ (sic).
On the contrary, African people put us white folk to shame by their passion for learning and study. And they are quite able to make a moral judgment and put Western society to shame a second time.

I am happy to face the judgment of God because he has already redeemed me by the blood of the crucified, risen, ascended Lord Jesus and I am doing my best to keep his commandments, including proclaiming his word.
Have a word with whoever misled you about the number of times human sexuality is mentioned in the Old Testament. Right from Chapter One of Genesis we read God made them male and female and the Lord Jesus said in the Gospel that is why a man will leave his mother and father and cleave to his wife and the two will be one flesh. Two lesbians (or two ‘gay’ men) will never be ‘one flesh’ because they lack between them the necessary complementary parts of the anatomy to achieve it.
Where do you get the idea that Christians are bound by the Jewish ceremonial dietary laws, or that fish ever formed part of the ‘unclean’ section?
Thanks for being so judgmental, by the way. I would never say such a thing of anyone suffering from same-sex attraction. Yes, those desires are ‘vile affections’ as the New Testament describes them in Romans 1:26, but the person is a human being, made in the image of God, in need of the forgiveness, salvation and healing found in Jesus Christ.
No geneticist will say that anyone is ‘born that way’. How people grow up is a complex combination of factors.
Many adolescents experience same-sex attraction, crushes on someone of the same sex, but no-one should ever self-identify as ‘gay’ or ‘lesbian’, even if being bullied about being a bit different.
If you have ended up unhappy and ill it isn’t my fault or the Bible’s fault or God’s fault, it is that you know in your heart that you are less than you should be and could be, and that you have fallen short of God’s plan for your life.
I don’t know how you came to have those desires and why you decided to express them. Broken family relationships, emotional and sexual abuse run like common threads through most homosexual life stories, but you may not even be able to nail it down.
What I do know is no-one has to stay gay. The testimonies of men and women who have walked away from homosexuality remind us that remaining that way IS a choice. That is good news. Jesus Christ can release you of both the stain of sin and the power of sin.
I researched homosexuality for seven years and published a book on the subject with 1300 points of reference, so please don’t accuse me of ignorance and pretend to ‘forgive’ me of it. Neither judge that I have ‘evil thoughts’ just because I take a straight down-the-line view of the Scriptures. No-one will go to hell for keeping the laws of God too strictly, I promise you that! But many will go there because they put themselves or modern liberal prejudices before the eternal word of the Almighty.
Finally, if you really are a Christian pray that the Lord will deal with all the rancour, hatred, bitterness, unforgiveness and judgmentalism in your heart and that he will give you the Holy Spirit so you can follow his ways and become the total woman he designed you to be.
