A man already being paid \u00a33 million a year by the Football Association demanded \u00a3400,000 to advise characters he had only just met on how to invest in players. The involvement of a \u2018third party&#8217; to invest in that player and take a cut out of any transfer fee has been described as a form of \u2018slavery&#8217; by Michel Platini, the former president of European football&#8217;s governing body Uefa.<\/p>\n<p>Formerly prevalent in South America, and brought to attention when <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/business-37483203\" target=\"_blank\">Argentines Carlos Tevez and Javier Maschera joined\u00a0West Ham United<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in 2006, it is now outlawed internationally.<\/p>\n<p>Sam Allardyce was recorded saying there were \u2018ways round&#8217; the ban. But underneath, it was greed and a loose mouth that did for the England manager, who had been only in his \u2018dream job&#8217; for 67 days.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9434\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9434\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.christianvoice.org.uk\/index.php\/the-fall-of-sam-allardyce\/joeyoung\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-9434\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9434\" src=\"https:\/\/www.christianvoice.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/JoeYoung-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Rev Joe Young appointed Sam Allardyce to manage Limerick FC\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.christianvoice.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/JoeYoung-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.christianvoice.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/JoeYoung.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9434\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rev Joe Young appointed Sam Allardyce to manage Limerick FC<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>PRAYERS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When Allardyce was appointed manager of England, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.christiantoday.com\/article\/priest.who.revived.sam.allardyces.career.says.hes.been.praying.for.brilliant.big.sam\/91116.htm\" target=\"_blank\">an Irish Roman Catholic priest recalled the time<\/a><\/strong> when he appointed an ambitious young man\u00a0to his first managerial position.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-five years ago, Joe Young was chairman of Limerick FC. It was he who sought out Allardyce and persuaded him to take on the job of player-manager for the Irish team. \u00a0When the now 61-year-old was appointed as manager of England, Fr Young revealed he had been praying for his former associate.<\/p>\n<p>On 5th April this year (2016), after his Sunderland side could only manage a goalless draw with West Bromwich Albion, Sam Allardyce<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/xtheline.co.uk\/sunderland-boss-sam-allardyce-says-must-go-back-church-start-praying\/\" target=\"_blank\"> spoke of the &#8216;Black Cats&#8217;\u00a0needing &#8216;divine intervention&#8217; to avoid relegation<\/a><\/strong>. \u00a0He told BBC Newcastle, &#8221;I need to go back to church and start praying. Perhaps the most famous is the Apostle Paul&#8217;s advice to Timothy:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>UNGUARDED WORDS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As for &#8216;perverting&#8217; one&#8217;s words, the context of Exodus 23:8 is that of passing a legal judgment, but it can also be applied to any form of dialogue.<\/p>\n<p>There were unguarded words in the Telegraph&#8217;s recordings from Sam Allardyce on his predecessor Roy Hodgson, coach\u00a0Gary Neville and Prince William. \u00a0He spoke disparagingly of Prince Harry. \u00a0But the Bible says plainly:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ecclesiastes 10:20 Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bedchamber: for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All of us need to heed the Bible&#8217;s teachings on guarding the tongue, as the Apostle James put it:<\/p>\n<p><strong>James 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!\u00a0&#8230;\u00a010 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing.
