What for? The term jihadi bride is particularly egregious, but there is some truth to it.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>So by &#8216;promising future&#8217; Razia meant anything but going to join a seemingly romantic band of outlaws and bearing their children.<\/p>\n<h2>ISLAMIC STATE NEEDS WOMEN<\/h2>\n<p>And of course, Islamic State does need women to build its legitimacy. \u00a0At the moment the &#8216;State&#8217; part of its title is aspirational. \u00a0Women can bear children to its fighters. \u00a0These are portrayed by IS in ways appealing to young girls. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-31704408\" target=\"_blank\">This article on the BBC website<\/a><\/strong>. has described the young men as &#8216;eye candy&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Iqbal concluded:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8216;<em>The only counter-narrative that might appeal to potential further recruits, is if girls such as Kadiza, Sultana, Shamima Begum and Amira Abase find a way of getting back to their lives in London, and tell the truth about how un-Islamic IS is; how unromantic it is to be part of a murderous cult and how unappealing it is to give up on your self, and your individuality<\/em>.&#8217;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So in what way or ways is Islamic State &#8216;un-Islamic?&#8217; \u00a0Razia Iqbal fails to tell us. \u00a0Perhaps for her it is the emphasis, to put it mildly, on grabbing land and killing whoever does not share their particular\u00a0Islamic beliefs. \u00a0But the Quran includes, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thereligionofpeace.com\/quran\/023-violence.htm\" target=\"_blank\">according to one estimate<\/a><\/strong>, some 109 verses mandating open-ended violence against unbelievers. \u00a0The Muslm holy book strongly advocates &#8216;liberating&#8217; towns from the &#8216;oppression&#8217; of non-Muslim rule.<\/p>\n<h2>THE QURAN MANDATES FIGHTING AND WAR<\/h2>\n<p>For example: \u00a0Surah 2:191. And slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you\u00a0out; &#8230;\u00a0216. Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing\u00a0which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. Let those fight in the cause of Allah Who sell the life of this\u00a0world for the hereafter. To him\u00a0who fighteth in the cause of Allah,- whether he is slain or gets victory. \u00a0Soon shall We give him\u00a0a reward of great (value). \u00a075. And why should ye not fight in the cause of Allah and of those who, being weak, are\u00a0ill-treated (and oppressed)? \u00a0Men, women, and children, whose cry is: &#8220;Our Lord! Rescue us\u00a0from this town, whose people are oppressors. \u00a0And raise for us from thee one who will protect; and\u00a0raise for us from thee one who will help!&#8221; \u00a076. Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah, and those who reject Faith Fight in the cause\u00a0of Evil. So fight ye against the friends of Satan. \u00a0Feeble indeed is the cunning of Satan.<\/p>\n<p>Surah 5:33. The punishment of those who wage war against\u00a0Allah and His Messenger, and strive with\u00a0might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of\u00a0hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land. \u00a0 That is their disgrace in this world, and\u00a0a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>ISLAMIC STATE FOLLOWING QURAN<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Islamic State seems to be following most of that. \u00a0They are also following in the footsteps of the founder of their faith. \u00a0The ancient world knew Mohammed for his\u00a0rampaging, looting and raping. \u00a0There are a few verses of peace in the Quran, so it is possible to be Muslim and peaceful. \u00a0But it is much easier and more faithful to the Quran to be Muslim and warlike.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, the only sure route to paradise for a Muslim\u00a0is to be killed in the way of jihad. \u00a0This doctrine gives jihadists &#8211; and by extension their wives and families &#8211; great\u00a0status in Islam.<\/p>\n<p>It is true that Christian martyrs are held in high esteem in the true\u00a0faith. \u00a0However, they have to be standing for Christ, not waging war. \u00a0Moreover,\u00a0every Christian will be with him in paradise. \u00a0That means everyone who\u00a0confesses that Jesus Christ has died for his sins. \u00a0No ifs, no buts. \u00a0And Allah won&#8217;t be there. \u00a0As the Apostle Peter told the Jews in Jerusalem:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Acts 2:21 \u00a0&#8230;\u00a0whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord (that&#8217;s Jesus) shall be saved.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Watch our short YouTube video &#8216;<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/6Jd6j1UyfNs\" target=\"_blank\">Is Allah Almighty God<\/a><\/strong>&#8216;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>THE EXAMPLE OF MOHAMMED<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Mohammed is set up as an example for Muslims to follow. \u00a0The &#8216;Hadith&#8217;, which are\u00a0stories accepted among Muslims about Mohammed&#8217;s life, record this episode:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen Muhammad saw Hamzah he said, \u2018If Allah gives me victory over the Quraysh at any time, I shall mutilate thirty of their men!\u2019 When the Muslims saw the rage of the Prophet they said, \u2018By Allah, if we are victorious over them, we shall mutilate them in a way which no Arab has ever mutilated anybody.\u201d (Al-Tabari, vol. 7, p. 133; cf. Ibn Ishaq 387) The Quraysh were Mohammed&#8217;s own tribe who claimed to be descended from Abraham&#8217;s son Ishmael and who ruled Mecca.)<\/p>\n<p>So whether or not Islamic State is &#8216;romantic&#8217;, and that will lie in the eye of the beholder, it certainly is Islamic. \u00a0One can understand that Razia would want to tell her BBC bosses and readers the opposite. \u00a0That is what they want to hear, but it doesn&#8217;t make it any less of a lie.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8394\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8394\" style=\"width: 166px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.christianvoice.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/georgearney.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8394 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.christianvoice.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/georgearney-166x300.jpg\" alt=\"George Arney\" width=\"166\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.christianvoice.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/georgearney-166x300.jpg 166w, https:\/\/www.christianvoice.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/georgearney.jpg 233w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 166px) 100vw, 166px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8394\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Razia Iqbal is sadly separated from journalist George Arney<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As to becoming a &#8216;jihadi bride&#8217;, it is much more Islamic for a young woman to become the wife of a Muslim jihadist and bear his children than to pursue &#8216;self and individuality&#8217;:<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.khilafah.com\/index.php\/the-khilafah\/social-system\/626-understanding-the-role-of-muslim-women\" target=\"_blank\">The Muslim website kilafah.com says<\/a><\/strong>: \u00a0&#8216;The role of the Muslim woman is clearly defined and outlined in Islam. In short her primary role is with the upbringing of her children and in being a dutiful wife.\u00a0 She is encouraged to carry out all the duties she takes up with devotion and enthusiasm.&#8217;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>RAZIA IS UN-ISLAMIC<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>One thing we do know is that Razia Iqbal is un-Islamic. \u00a0Her mode of dress let alone the lack of any head covering are in stark contrast to the modest Muslim attire of Kadiza, Amira and Shamima. \u00a0One top of that, she actually married an unbeliever, a &#8216;kaffir&#8217;, fellow BBC World Service journalist George Arney, from whom she is now sadly separated.<\/p>\n<p>Razia might make it into a <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_Muslims_in_entertainment_and_the_media\" target=\"_blank\">Wikipedia list of Muslims in entertainment and the media<\/a><\/strong>, but there is very little for a real practising Muslim to identify with or respect in her.<\/p>\n<p>Was one\u00a0point of the article to reach out to girls about to be radicalised into absconding to join Islamic State and stop them? \u00a0The stark truth is that it will fail. \u00a0A fifty-something westernised pseudo-Muslim like Razia Iqbal has nothing in common with girls like\u00a0Kadiza, Amira and Shamima and nothing to say to them.<\/p>\n<p>It is going to be down to\u00a0MI5 to stop potential jihadi brides \u00a0after all.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The rise of &#8216;Islamic State&#8217;, as they call themselves, continues to\u00a0concern the kind of non-practising, secularised Muslims you find at the BBC.
