Sock Puppets: The Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The 2014 secession vote in Crimea is derided as ‘illegal’ by all but two of the UN Security Council. \u00a0Now further information has surfaced about European and American funding of the Ukrainian pro-EU ‘Maidan Square’ movement. \u00a0It was intended to weaken Russian influence. \u00a0 Those behind the unrest will not care it has cost so many lives.<\/p>\n

The Policy Association for an Open Society (PASOS) is\u00a0heavily-EU-slanted. \u00a0 Its\u00a0website \u00a0\u00a0carried an article dated 13th December 2013<\/a><\/strong> deriding the Ukrainian authorities under then President Viktor Yanukovych\u00a0for identifying certain Western groups as its ‘enemies’. \u00a0The groups included ‘ three members of the PASOS network of think tanks.’ \u00a0Imagine that.<\/p>\n

‘Remove visa requirements’<\/h2>\n

PASOS raged: \u00a0‘The\u00a0Institute of World Policy<\/a>, the\u00a0Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation<\/a>, and the International Centre for Policy Studies<\/a>\u00a0appear on a list of NGOs that the party consider part of the opposition and \u201cdangerous,\u201d according to\u00a0an article published by Glavcom.ua<\/a>, an independent Ukrainian news outlet.<\/p>\n

‘The memo also targets Europe Without Borders, a Ukrainian NGO which partnered with PASOS on a program to encourage the European Union to remove visa requirements for the Eastern Partnership countries, including Ukraine.’<\/p>\n

What a give-away. \u00a0The ‘Eastern Partnership countries’ is a term coined by Euro-expansionists five years ago. \u00a0It refers to countries from the former Soviet Union on the EU’s eastern fringe. \u00a0These include Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. \u00a0However, the ‘Eastern Partnership’ is now regarded by John Lloyd of Reuters<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(worth a read) as being in retreat. \u00a0Nevertheless, the visa proposal from PASOS would have allowed nationals of these states unfettered access to the EU and its labour markets.<\/p>\n

George Soros financed Maidan Square activists<\/h2>\n

PASOS goes on to report without denial the Ukrainian Government memo’s identification of another six US groups financing the Maidan Square activists. \u00a0In addition, the Soros Open Society offshoot the\u00a0International Renaissance Fund was fingered:<\/p>\n

‘The website published images of the memo, which it said was leaked by a member of the party. \u00a0According to the report, the Party of Regions blames the current EuroMaidan protests in Ukraine on American donors who have funded pro-democracy programs in Ukraine, including the National Endowment for Democracy, the United States Agency for International Development, the U.S. Department of State, the Peace Corps, Freedom House and the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.<\/p>\n

‘In addition, the memo also blames the eruption of protests on the European Union. The International Renaissance Fund, a Ukrainian NGO founded by George Soros, is likewise identified as an enemy of the party.’<\/p>\n

Democratic Principles?<\/h2>\n

Says PASOS: ‘News of the memo drew a sharp rebuke from PASOS Executive Director Jeff Lovitt.<\/p>\n

‘\u201cOur members are not dangerous to anyone who defends democratic principles and the free exchange of ideas,\u201d Lovitt said. \u201cWhat is dangerous is a political party identifying independent pro-democracy groups as enemies.\u201d’<\/p>\n

Calling a \u00a0bunch of thugs who stormed government offices and removed a democratically-elected president by violent street protests ‘pro-democracy’ beggars belief. \u00a0So does the use of the expression to refer to unashamed interference and destabilisation of a sovereign state by US NGO’s. \u00a0Welcome to the world of the Eurocracy. \u00a0The EU and the US can interfere in the internal affairs of other nations. \u00a0But woe betide Russia when it defends it interests.<\/p>\n

The EU expanding its empire<\/h2>\n

Jeff Lovitt is also Co-Chair of yet another Pro-EU expansionist body. \u00a0This is the well-funded ‘Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum.’ \u00a0This group boasted<\/a><\/strong>:<\/p>\n

‘Many participants of the EaP Civil Society Forum have been active in various sectors of Euromaidan movement. \u00a0Several examples below are just a tip of the iceberg of the civic activities that our colleagues from Ukraine have been involved in.’<\/p>\n

It then listed a number of groups which helped destabilise Ukraine. \u00a0These included ‘Euromaidan Council’ and ‘Maidan SOS’. \u00a0 Even the name ‘Euromaidan’ betrays the origin of the driving force.<\/p>\n

An\u00a0Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum\u00a0webpage lists its Steering Committee<\/a><\/strong>. This had the strange give-away picture of what appear to be sock puppets at the top of this page. The picture has now been removed.<\/p>\n

George Soros funds PASOS<\/h2>\n

But on another PASOS webpage we read that the innocuous-sounding EaP Civil Society Forum<\/a><\/strong> is indeed a sock-puppet of the EU Commission::<\/p>\n

‘The Forum was created as part of a European Commission effort \u201cto support the further development of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs)\u201d and \u201cto promote contacts among CSOs and facilitate their dialogue with public authorities.\u201d’<\/p>\n

Moreover, who funds PASOS, the Policy Association for an Open Society? \u00a0Any guesses? Does the expression ‘… Open Society’ in its title give any clues?<\/p>\n
