The spirit of water, of the ebb and flow of emotion; of open seas and running streams, of cleansing rain; spirit of the evening sun, of twilight and of Autumn. <\/em><br \/>\n<em>&#8216;I call upon the spirit of Winter. The spirit of earth, of the womb of creation; of the night and the snows of winter, deep roots and ancient stones. <\/em><br \/>\n<em>&#8216;I call upon the spirit of Spring. The spirit of air, the breath of life; of sunrise, and of new life and of new growth. <\/em><br \/>\n<em>&#8216;I call upon the Spirit of Summer. The spirit of fire, of energy of passion; spirit of the noonday sun, the heat of summer, vitality and abundance.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>&#8216;My friends, let the festival commence!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_7077\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7077\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.christianvoice.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Paralympics.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7077\" alt=\"The Paralympic closing ceremony\" src=\"https:\/\/www.christianvoice.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Paralympics-300x199.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.christianvoice.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Paralympics-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.christianvoice.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Paralympics-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.christianvoice.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Paralympics.jpg 614w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-7077\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Paralympic closing ceremony<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=eNE8PTgsjWk\" target=\"_blank\">In a video of the ceremony and the &#8216;festival&#8217;<\/a><\/strong>, a group of men with flame-throwers can be seen moving about before the olympic flame was passed out. \u00a0MacKenzie, shaven-headed, sporting a man-bag and clad in a peculiar leather jacket and shorts to expose his artificial lower leg and establish empathy with the paralympians, continued:<\/p>\n<p><em>The circle is unbroken,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>The ancestors awoken.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>May the songs of the Earth<\/em><br \/>\n<em>and of her people ring true.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Hail to the Festival of the flame<\/em><br \/>\n<em>of root and branch, tooth and claw,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>fur and feather, of earth and sea and sky<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In a separate development, a document has come to light showing that the flooding of much of the Somerset Levels was <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/comment\/columnists\/christopherbooker\/10625663\/Flooding-Somerset-Levels-disaster-is-being-driven-by-EU-policy.html\" target=\"_blank\">planned by the EU and environmentalists<\/a><\/strong> in the Environment Agency and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2014\/feb\/16\/flood-area-defences-funding-cuts\" target=\"_blank\">exacerbated by Government cuts<\/a><\/strong> and broken promises. To take just one example, Chris, Lord Smith promised dredging of the rivers last year, but nothing happened.<\/p>\n<p>In a typically sensationalist piece <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-2554940\/Agency-flooding-puts-greater-water-parsnips-voles-local-people.html\" target=\"_blank\">the Daily Mail<\/a><\/strong> says the Environment Agency\u00a0preferred water voles\u00a0to people, but ironically, many water voles have themselves been drowned. \u00a0In a further twist, the numbers of voles &#8211; the iconic &#8216;ratty&#8217; in the Wind in the Willows &#8211; are seriously down because of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-england-somerset-22983495\" target=\"_blank\">predation by mink released from fur farms<\/a><\/strong> by animal rights fanatics in the 1980s and 1990s.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12px;\">The last few weeks have broken all records for rainfall in southern England in particular. \u00a0Even David Cameron has spoken on the flooding being &#8216;of Biblical proportions&#8217;. \u00a0Henley-on-Thames councillor David Silvester claimed the flooding was God&#8217;s punishment for the passing into law of &#8216;gay marriage&#8217;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>But &#8216;gay marriage&#8217; can only be seen in such a light as the last straw on the back of an already overladen camel. \u00a0We bow to the god of environmentalism on the Levels, we invoke demonic pagan spirits in the Olympics, we pass a raft of legislation against the laws of God, and then we are surprised when God allows the most extreme weather for a century to afflict our shores.<\/p>\n<p>Let us be under no illusion. \u00a0The Almighty is Lord over the weather. \u00a0he can send or withhold the rain. \u00a0The Lord Jesus calmed the storm on Lake Galilee. \u00a0Even if we baulk at the idea of God actually sending the 2014 storms, do we not believe that he can protect a city or a nation?<\/p>\n<p>But if that city or nation deliberately sets its face by its deeds against the Almighty, do we think he will still keep watch over them?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Psalm 127:1 A Song of degrees for Solomon.
