Seven Afghan nationals<\/b><\/a> who entered Britain by small boat and lorry have been charged with rape and child sexual abuse offences. This follows an investigation into alleged group-based child exploitation in Norwich.<\/p>\n

According to the Crown Prosecution Service, the offences were allegedly committed between August 2023 and May last year. The seven men face a combined total of 40 charges.<\/p>\n

Those charged are Jamil Khalil, 20, Ahmadin Ahmadzai, 21, Qais Kaker, 20, Fazal Auryakhel, 20, Mohammed Farooq Sinwary, 23, Ali Ahamad, 21, and Sayed Wahid Davdzai, 20. The CPS confirmed that all entered the UK either by small boat or lorry and currently hold refugee status.<\/p>\n

Police carried out raids at seven addresses, six in Norwich and one in Dumbarton, Scotland. All seven appeared before Norwich Magistrates\u2019 Court and were remanded in custody ahead of a plea hearing at Norwich Crown Court on June 19.<\/p>\n

For years, the British public has been told that concerns surrounding illegal migration and safeguarding were exaggerated, insensitive, or somehow beyond discussion. Yet another major child exploitation investigation involving recently arrived migrants now sits before the courts while ministers continue assuring the country that border control remains \u201crobust\u201d.<\/p>\n

Police Promise \u201cProtection\u201d After Public Shock<\/h2>\n

Norfolk Constabulary said: “None of the suspects charged with the above offences have lived at asylum hotels in Norfolk, and none of the offending in these offences happened in asylum hotels.\u201d<\/p>\n

Detective Superintendent Stacey Murray said the force\u2019s priority remained the \u201csafety and wellbeing\u201d of the victims. She confirmed that a dedicated team was continuing to examine \u201cevery available line of inquiry\u201d while supporting those involved in the case.<\/p>\n

Supt Craig Miller acknowledged the case would be \u201cshocking to our communities\u201d and said police would do \u201ceverything possible to protect children from abuse and exploitation\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis type of case is very upsetting, and I want people living and working in Norwich, as well as the wider communities of Norfolk, to know that we will do everything possible to protect children from abuse and exploitation,she added.<\/p>\n

Child Migrants\u201d Who Turn Out to Be Adults<\/h2>\n

Ten migrants<\/b><\/a> initially treated as children and set to be placed into foster care were later discovered to be adults, adding further pressure to Britain\u2019s already overwhelmed asylum system.<\/p>\n

The cases emerged amid growing concerns over age assessment failures, particularly involving Channel migrants claiming to be under 18. Under current asylum rules, being classified as a child can significantly improve access to housing, support, and protection from removal.<\/p>\n

The situation has left many wondering exactly how Britain reached the point where fully grown men can arrive illegally, claim to be school-age children, and potentially be placed alongside vulnerable children while authorities debate whether visible adulthood is merely a \u201clived experience\u201d.<\/p>\n

Reverse Ageing<\/h2>\n

Kent County Council<\/b><\/a> took in 2,656 child migrants during 2025 alone as increasing numbers of asylum seekers claimed to be minors upon arrival in Britain.<\/p>\n

GB News <\/b><\/a>previously reported that thousands of migrants have allegedly lied about their age because asylum claims are often treated more favourably when applicants are classified as children.<\/p>\n

In one extraordinary case, a Sudanese migrant <\/b><\/a>described by Liverpool City Council officials as not presenting \u201cas a teenager\u201d was nevertheless ruled to be a minor by Upper Tribunal Judge Paul Lodato. Officials had assessed the man, identified only as ASB, as being between 23 and 25 years old after two separate evaluations.<\/p>\n

Another Syrian migrant with a \u201cdeep voice\u201d, \u201cstubble\u201d, \u201cgrey hair\u201d, and a \u201creceding hairline\u201d was legally accepted as a 16-year-old despite Derby City Council estimating his age at between 24 and 26. The court was told that \u201cgenetics\u201d, exposure to hardship, and \u201ctraumatic life experiences\u201d could explain why a supposed teenager looked like he was approaching middle age.<\/p>\n

\u201cWomen and Children\u201d, Apparently<\/h2>\n

Last year<\/b><\/a>, Treasury Minister Darren Jones claimed the \u201cmajority\u201d of asylum seekers arriving illegally were \u201cchildren, babies and women\u201d, comments which later triggered widespread criticism.<\/p>\n

Jones later clarified his remarks, stating: \u201cOf course, the overall majority of people arriving illegally on small boats are men \u2014 but not \u2018north of 90 per cent\u2019 as Reform claimed.\u201d<\/p>\n

He explained that his original comments referred to a particular dinghy carrying women, children, and babies who had suffered burns during the crossing. According to Jones, his remarks had been \u201cmisrepresented\u201d.<\/p>\n

The difficulty for ministers is that the public can still see the photographs arriving daily from Dover. When politicians insist the crisis is largely made up of vulnerable families while the overwhelming visual reality consists of young adult males, trust begins to erode very quickly.<\/p>\n

The Numbers Tell Their Own Story<\/h2>\n

Home Office figures<\/b><\/a> show that since January 2018, around 75 per cent of small boat arrivals have been adult males aged 18 and over.<\/p>\n

Nearly 1,000 migrants<\/b><\/a> crossed the English Channel during the recent Bank Holiday weekend as warm weather conditions continued across Europe.<\/p>\n

Despite repeated controversies surrounding disputed ages and safeguarding concerns, the Home Office insists that \u201cthe safety and wellbeing of children in care is paramount\u201d and says \u201crobust processes\u201d are already in place to assess age claims.<\/p>\n

Officials also confirmed plans to expand the use of Facial Age Estimation technology in future assessments. Britain has therefore reached the rather astonishing stage where artificial intelligence may soon be required to determine what previous generations managed through eyesight alone.<\/p>\n
