The Online Safety Act<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The UK\u2019s Online Safety Act, <\/b><\/a>which began with noble language, \u201cprotecting children from pornography\u201d, has revealed itself as a censorship tool of chilling scope within weeks of enforcement.<\/p>\n

Under the guise of shielding young eyes, the law has silenced cultural, political, and even historical expression.<\/p>\n

Citizens scrolling online are now met with locked content, age walls, and vague warnings that once-free posts are \u201ctoo sensitive.\u201d The Act does not even protect children from online terror.<\/p>\n

People terrified of \u2018wrong-speak\u2019<\/h2>\n

Meanwhile, Christian Voice spoke to people on the streets of Newcastle and Sunderland to gather public opinion on the Online Safety Act. Not a single individual agreed to speak on camera or have their voice recorded. Many expressed concern that sharing their honest views could lead to getting into trouble with the law. Most described the Act not as a “shield for safety,” but as a “sword of censorship,” cutting down free expression and open debate.<\/p>\n

The problem isn\u2019t, of course, as obvious as the Government or Ofcom ordering people to take material down. It\u2019s that the threat of massive fines on Social Media or the fear for users of their channel or account being banned, or even that they will end up, like Lucy Connolly<\/b><\/a>, in prison for an injudicious tweet, that will lead to self-censorship.<\/p>\n

Here are five things the British people can no longer post or read about under the new internet censorship rules.<\/p>\n

The banning of beauty and history<\/h2>\n

Weeks into the enforcement of the Online Safety Act, and what do we find? historic art and cultural truth silenced.<\/p>\n

Francisco Goya\u2019s<\/b><\/a> striking 19th-century Saturn painting depicting an episode from Greek mythology, ‘Devouring His Son’ was swiftly hidden from UK users on X. Despite being a globally recognised work of art, it was deemed too disturbing for British eyes. Also censored: posts about Richard the Lionheart and the Crusades\u2014likely because they reference historic Christian battles against Islamic conquest.<\/p>\n

Even a thread on 1930s menswear <\/b><\/a>was age-gated\u2014yes, fashion history now requires government permission to view.<\/p>\n

This is no longer about shielding children. It\u2019s erasing memory and meaning.<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s rights \u2013 censored and cancelled<\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/a>In a land where the Supreme Court upheld single-sex spaces, online posts defending those same rights are now being suppressed.<\/p>\n

A 53-year-old woman was barred from reading a post calling for single-sex public toilets. It was flagged as \u201ctoo sensitive.\u201d Yet, everywhere on our streets and screens, we see the celebration of men identifying as women, encouraged by the very authorities now silencing dissent.<\/p>\n

If saying \u201cwomen are women\u201d is now \u201charmful,\u201d then Britain has entered dangerous moral confusion.<\/p>\n

Isaiah 59:14 And judgement is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.<\/b><\/p>\n

Criticism of Government now a thought-crime<\/h2>\n

Satire and protest have long been hallmarks of British liberty. But not anymore.<\/p>\n

A Guido Fawkes article by Benjamin Jones, <\/b><\/a>of the Free Speech Union, mocking Prime Minister Keir Starmer\u2019s unpopularity was hidden behind a content wall.<\/p>\n

Likewise, a protest video outside a migrant hotel in Leeds, where police were seen restraining a demonstrator, was taken down.<\/p>\n

The message is loud and clear: mock the people, praise the state; but never dare to question it.<\/p>\n

This is no longer government by the people. It’s control over the people.<\/p>\n

Grooming gang victims silenced again<\/h2>\n

The most shocking use of the Online Safety Act? Its silencing of victims of grooming gangs.<\/p>\n

Sammy Woodhouse, a brave survivor of child rape and exploitation, saw her testimony hidden by X as \u201cgraphic content\u201d. Incredibly, a speech in Parliament by MP Katie Lam quoting survivors was also suppressed. And Reddit forums offering support to sexual assault survivors were blocked.<\/p>\n

These women were once ignored by the state. Now they\u2019re being muted by it.<\/p>\n

You can\u2019t even complain about the Act<\/h2>\n

The Law That Forbids You from Talking About the Law.<\/p>\n

When Benjamin Jones<\/b><\/a> of the Free Speech Union compiled a list of all the content now censored under the Online Safety Act. Mr. Jones’ post was censored.<\/p>\n

Let that sink in. You cannot even speak out against the censorship\u2026 because doing so has been also censored.<\/p>\n

This is not \u201csafety.\u201d It\u2019s tyranny. The freedom to speak, protest, and bear witness is a gift of God, not a privilege granted by government. And if we lose that freedom now, we may not get it back.<\/p>\n

The Act has taken a sword to freedom. It needs to be repealed.<\/p>\n
