\nChristian MP for York Central, Rachael Maskell, has been suspended from the Labour Party by Sir Keir Starmer.<\/p>\n

Ms Maskell, along with Neil Duncan-Jordan, Brian Leishman, and Chris Hinchliff, has had her party membership temporarily revoked after voting against the government on the controversial welfare bill.<\/p>\n

Though the bill passed by a majority of 75, Ms Maskell\u2019s stand helped carve out the largest rebellion Mr Starmer has faced since becoming leader.Ultimately, the PM scrapped the proposed PIP eligibility changes.<\/p>\n

However, it must be said the Personal Independence Payment<\/mark> system is deeply flawed. <\/span>It pays people 16 and over up to \u00a374 per week to have a long-term health condition or disability, covering non-problems like the inability to cook, wash up or wait for a bus. A young person’s mother can then apply to be a carer, gaining even more money. This report shows<\/b><\/a> it pays people to be indolent and does nothing to help them into work. The Bible says:<\/p>\n

Proverbs 31:9 Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.<\/b><\/p>\n

But there are better ways to do that than to encourage them to consider themselves ill. The Bible says:<\/p>\n

2Thess 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.<\/b><\/p>\n

Faith at the centre<\/h2>\n

Describing herself as \u201cLabour to the core,\u201d the MP for York Central explained her choice as a matter of principle, not politics. \u201cI\u2019m not angry,\u201d she told reporters. \u201cI\u2019m upset\u2014for the party.\u201d She added:\u00a0\u201cThe reason why I voted the way I did was because I believe in fighting for people.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cAs someone of deep conviction and faith,\u201d she wrote, \u201cI bring these values with me in all I do in representing my constituents.\u201d She may be wrong on the PIP scandal, but Rachael Maskell has consistently voted pro-life, against abortion and euthanasia. On the other hand, she has supported transgenderism<\/b><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Well does the Bible tell us to put our trust in God, not in fallible leaders.<\/p>\n
