\u00a0This Sunday, 18th<\/sup> March 2012, is Mothers\u2019 Day (or Mothering Sunday for the more old-fashioned among us).\u00a0 But if the Government get their way and enact \u2018Gay Marriage\u2019, mother and father could be renamed \u2018Parent A\u2019 and \u2018Parent B\u2019 on birth certificates.<\/p>\n

\u00a0According to Labour peer Lord Brennan QC<\/a>, the Stonewall homosexual lobby group have said the words \u2018husband\u2019 and \u2018wife\u2019 should be replaced by \u2018parties to a marriage\u2019, even while saying homosexuals want to call each other \u2018husbands\u2019 and \u2018wives\u2019.\u00a0 And we know that what Stonewall wants from the Con-Lib Coalition, Stonewall gets.<\/p>\n

\u00a0The Home Office are already drawing up plans to eliminate \u2018husband\u2019 and \u2018wife\u2019 from official documents<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Lord Brennan says that in Spain, where \u2018gay marriage\u2019 was introduced in 2005, \u2018Father\u2019 and \u2018Mother\u2019 were replaced on birth certificates by \u2018Progenitor A\u2019 and \u2018Progenitor B\u2019<\/a> the following year. We must not believe the Government is they say a similar thing (probably \u2018Parent A\u2019 and \u2018Parent B\u2019) cannot happen here<\/span>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Never forget, in October 2000, Home Secretary Jack Straw said<\/a>: “Marriage is about a union for the procreation of children, which by definition can only happen between a heterosexual couple. So I see no circumstances in which we would ever bring forward proposals for so-called gay marriages.”\u00a0 But that was when he was laying the ground for the Civil Partnership Bill and trying not to frighten the conservative horses.<\/p>\n

\u00a0So celebrate Mothers\u2019 Day on Sunday (although maybe not with a halal meal at Harvester or Toby<\/a>).\u00a0 It might be the last chance you\u2019ll get.<\/p>\n
