Ichthyornis dispar – not a bird missing link at all<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The mainstream media is all over\u00a0Ichthyornis dispar. \u00a0<\/i>This is supposed to be a ‘missing link’ between dinosaurs and birds. \u00a0The name means something like ‘disparate fish-bird’.<\/p>\n

Evolutionists like\u00a0Bhart-Anjan Bhullar of Yale University claim: ‘It shows us what the first bird beak looked like.’ \u00a0‘It’s a real mosaic of features, a transitional form.’ \u00a0That’s what he says. \u00a0‘A transitional form’. \u00a0At last! \u00a0The elusive missing link!<\/p>\n

Evolution Cheerleader<\/h2>\n

The BBC is top cheerleader for evolution. \u00a0Moreover, it’s not just David Attenborough. \u00a0 Expressions like ‘adapted’, ‘evolved’ ‘millions of years’ are used all over the network. \u00a0Anyway, according to the BBC<\/a><\/strong>, ‘It has long been known that birds evolved from dinosaurs in what was a slow gradual process, involving feathers, wings and beaks.’ \u00a0Has it really? \u00a0Or should we replace the word ‘known’ by ‘thought by evolutionists’?<\/p>\n

‘The bones of Ichthyornis<\/i> were first found in the 1870s by the US palaeontologist Othniel C Marsh’, says Auntie. \u00a0Apparently,\u00a0Charles Darwin read about the fossil. \u00a0He thought it afforded support for the theory of evolution. \u00a0But he described it as ‘work on “old birds” .’<\/p>\n

Researcher Daniel Field, from the University of Bath, said it was an ‘extraordinary new specimen’. \u00a0He assured us it had\u00a0‘similar brain proportions to that of a modern bird’. \u00a0However, ‘other parts of the skull more closely resemble those of predatory dinosaurs’.<\/p>\n

‘Right under our noses this whole time was an amazing, transitional bird,’ said Dr Bhart-Anjan Bhullar.<\/p>\n

So is it? \u00a0 Not really. \u00a0For a start, Ichthyornis dispar\u00a0<\/i>really looks like a bird. \u00a0Its teeth are held in a fragile, elongated bill. \u00a0It could give you a nasty nip. \u00a0It might even hold something like a fish to stop it getting away.<\/p>\n

Indeed, the Independent says<\/a><\/strong>: ‘Ichthyornis had a two-foot wingspan and probably ate fish and shellfish.’<\/p>\n

But it has little in common with a therapod dinosaur like Velociraptor. \u00a0The latter’s strong head and jaw is clearly designed for ripping flesh, which Ichthy<\/em> is not. \u00a0Some birds today do have powerful ripping beaks. \u00a0That still does not mean they are descended from velociraptor. \u00a0But, in any case,\u00a0Ichthy<\/em> didn’t. \u00a0As it happens, the BBC claims: ‘The seagull-sized bird had a beak and a brain much like modern birds, but the sharp teeth and powerful jaws of dinosaurs like Velociraptor’. \u00a0<\/i>Did it? \u00a0 No. \u00a0But none of the evolution-supporting mainstream media give you a picture of a velociraptor. \u00a0It would never do to let the reader see the differences for himself.<\/p>\n

Some modern birds have teeth<\/h2>\n

Even today, the Canada Goose has teeth.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

And there is something else none of them will tell you. \u00a0And that is that some modern birds have teeth.<\/p>\n

There are not many, but among them are several species of goose. \u00a0The Greylag Goose, Canada Goose, even domestic geese all have teeth<\/a><\/strong>. \u00a0 Then there is the tooth-billed bowerbird, which does what it says on the tin.<\/p>\n

As it happens, the Independent, cited above, denies those species even exist. \u00a0‘Toothed birds vanished along with the dinosaurs and many other species after an asteroid impact 66 million years ago.’ \u00a0Tell that to the Canada Goose. \u00a0From a distance, if I were you.<\/p>\n

And if parts of Ichthy’s<\/em> head resembled something in a dinosaur, so what? \u00a0It so happens we share many bodily features with birds. \u00a0That is evidence of an overall Designer (yes, with a capital ‘D’), not a common ancestor.<\/p>\n

Gen 1:20\u00a0 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Even the Rational Skeptic website<\/a><\/strong> says evolutionists had ‘better let go’ of both\u00a0Archaeopteryx<\/em> and\u00a0Ichthyornis Dispar<\/em>. \u00a0The latter, it says, was not a missing link. \u00a0It ‘was 100 percent bird.’<\/p>\n

But don’t expect the BBC or the Indy to let go of Ichthy<\/em> any time soon.<\/p>\n
