Nanosermon Script:

‘Go set a watchman’ by Harper Lee came out in July 2015 and was the most pre-ordered book since the final Harry Potter. Now, I don’t know about you, but my first thought on hearing the title was, ‘That’s Bible from somewhere, but from where?’

If you too are curious about that, stick around for a minute or two. This gets encouraging. The quote is found in only one place in the Bible, in the Prophet Isaiah, chapter twenty-one and verse six It’s King James Version language and here it is in context:

Isa 21:5 Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield.6 For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth. 7 And he saw a chariot with a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, and a chariot of camels; and he hearkened diligently with much heed: 8 And he cried, A lion: My lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime, and I am set in my ward whole nights: 9 And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground. 10 O my threshing, and the corn of my floor: that which I have heard of the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared unto you.

The fall of Babylon

So this is a prophecy about the fall of Babylon. Isaiah is not the watchman but he is to set a watchman, who will watch a long time. He will stand continually, and watch whole nights.

The great commentator Matthew Henry said the asses and the camels appear to be symbols of the Medes and Persians, which fits with the pair of horsemen and the history. The Medes and Persians, a kind of ancient coalition, did indeed overthrow Babylon in the time of wicked king Belshazzar. You’ll remember he was the man with the feast and the writing on the wall.

It could even be Belshazzar’s feast prophesied in verse 5, setting a table, and the princes eating and drinking with the enemy at the door. I’m not sure what the lion signifies. It could be Judah or it could be an omen of war, because the Hebrew word for lion derives from the word for violence. The watchman could be crying like a lion.

John Wesley suggested the lion could be the king of Persia going before his troops. It could even be the Lord of Hosts, God Almighty, who would use the Medes and the Persians to destroy Babylon. It’s good to have a bit of mystery.

‘Babylon’ is the empire of Antichrist

In verse nine, note that all the many idols of dissolute Babylon could not save her from the determined foe. When it says ‘all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground’ I suggest the ‘he’ spoken of is the Lord, using the hand of the king of Persia.

In the New Testament the Apostle John heard the same key words, not now about Babylon as such, but as a type of a wicked city. The Antichrist spirit of Babylon had resurfaced in Persia, then in Greece, and then in the Roman Empire of John’s day:

Rev 14:8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

The Babylon of our age will fall

Finally, remember the Lord Jesus saying God ‘will gather the wheat into his garner’ and ‘burn up the chaff’? The ‘corn of my floor’ are believers who are to take notice about the destruction of Babylon.

Now, commentators said Harper Lee’s hero Atticus Finch was the watchman, he was cast as a sort of moral guardian, but in the book he was eventually found to be only human. But Isaiah’s watchman in this passage is not a moral guardian at all. He pronounces judgment.

It does not matter whether it is Babylon as such, or a Revived Roman Empire, or some other expression of Antichrist. This passage is to encourage God’s people that whatever the kings of the earth do, however badly or oppressively they rule, at any time, there is one mightier than they, and they will be brought down.

Go set a watchman – because the Babylon of our age will fall.

Islamaphobia Definition: Islamism, The Real Threat

0
Muslims at prayer - in the street
Muslims at prayer - in the street

The past week has provided a troubling snapshot of events unfolding across Britain. Four men were arrested on suspicion of spying on Jewish targets in London for the Islamic Republic of Iran, raising fresh concerns about foreign interference and threats to the Jewish community.

At the same time, supporters of the Iranian regime reportedly clashed with dissidents outside an Islamic centre in central London, while demonstrations linked to the Middle East conflict spilled onto British streets.

In Birmingham, crowds gathered at a vigil connected to Iran’s late Supreme Leader, where the Israeli flag was set alight and chants echoed through the crowd. Elsewhere in London, protesters shouted slogans against Israel, bringing the rhetoric of Middle Eastern conflicts directly into the heart of the capital.

These incidents have fuelled growing concern about the spread of extremist sympathies, foreign political tensions and anti-Semitic rhetoric within parts of Britain’s public sphere. The scenes have raised serious questions about integration, public order and the extent to which overseas ideological conflicts are influencing communities within the United Kingdom.

Yet as these events unfolded, the Government’s attention was focused elsewhere. Ministers have been advancing plans for a new official definition of “anti-Muslim hostility”, alongside proposals designed to combat what they describe as prejudicial stereotyping of Muslims.
Ask us to come and speak at your church →

Anti-Muslim Hate Definition

Britain’s new definition of “Islamaphobia” may already be written, but the debate over its consequences is only just beginning.

The government has announced a new definition of anti-Muslim hate that includes violence, harassment and prejudicial stereotyping – as it insisted the move will not curtail free speech.

Ministers say it is a working definition and a “tool for government and organisations to better understand, measure, prevent and address anti-Muslim hostility”.

Crucially, the definition is non-statutory – meaning it is advisory and has no legal backing. Discrimination of someone due to their religion or belief is already unlawful under the Equality Act.

Nevertheless, the announcement has quickly triggered debate about how such definitions may be interpreted in practice once they are adopted by public bodies and institutions.

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Definition Could Silence Legitimate Debate

The definitions sold to the British people to combat “hostility”, can easily drift into restricting legitimate criticism of religious beliefs, cultural practices or political ideologies associated with Islam.

Free speech advocates warn that once such language becomes embedded within institutional policies, individuals may hesitate to raise difficult but important questions about issues such as Islamist extremism, migration policy or cultural integration.

Christianity itself has long been criticised, mocked and debated openly in British society without the need for official definitions designed to shield it from offence. The greater danger lies not in open debate, but in the gradual narrowing of what people feel safe to say.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

Watch our nanosermon on the Power of Proclamation:

“Definition Inhibit Free Speech”

Concerns have also come from within the Government’s own advisory system.

Jonathan Hall, KC said Sir Keir Starmer’s proposed definition, could stop people from freely criticising Islam or issues affecting its followers.

Mr Hall, the independent reviewer of terrorism legislation, told the BBC: “The worry will be with loose language, people will feel inhibited about talking about things that they do think which are genuinely important today.”

He also warned that it could fail to stop anti-Muslim attacks. He said a similar definition for anti-Semitism had failed to prevent a rise in attacks on Jews and that he was sceptical a similar new definition for anti-Muslim hatred would be any different.

Another concern raised is that institutions may interpret the guidance differently, potentially allowing activists to push for censorship of viewpoints they disagree with.

2Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Starmer Courts Muslim Support at Ramadan Iftar

Sir. Kier Starmer at Iftar

Prime Minister Keir Starmer recently attended an iftar gathering during Ramadan, where he praised Britain’s multicultural identity and warned that tensions surrounding Iran were being exploited to divide Muslim and Jewish communities in the United Kingdom.
Sir Starmer presented Britain’s diversity as a national strength and urged unity during the current geopolitical tensions. The optics of the Prime Minister’s appearance alongside the rollout of a new anti-Muslim hostility definition suggest a calculated effort to reassure and appease influential Muslim constituencies.

For Christian Voice and other commentators concerned about free speech and cultural cohesion, the timing raises uncomfortable questions. At a moment when Britain is grappling with difficult debates about integration, extremism and national identity, the Government appears eager to signal solidarity with Muslim groups while pressing ahead with policies that could limit open discussion about Islam.

Does the Prime Minister need a reminder that the UK is a Christian country, therefore these laws could potentially water-down our values and beliefs?

There are also growing concerns that this new definition could introduce blasphemy laws through the back door.

Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil.

Centre for Media Monitoring is Muslim

Another point drawing attention is the leadership behind the organisations promoting the definition. The Centre for Media Monitoring, which has been active in pushing concerns about alleged anti-Muslim narratives in the media, is led by Muslim figures.

Its leadership structure reflects its stated purpose of advocating for Muslim communities and challenging media coverage they believe portrays Islam negatively. While such advocacy is unsurprising for a media organisation run by a Muslim, it inevitably raises questions about neutrality when proposals emerging from such circles influence public policy debates.

It would be unrealistic to expect anything other than arguments framed strongly in favour of Muslim interests when the initiative is being advanced by those whose primary role is to represent that community. It is not far from the reality to say this organisation is a “Muslim center for media monitoring”.

2 Corinthians 13:8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

We Will Uphold the Truth

Christian Voice will continue to uphold Christian values and proclaim the truth in the United Kingdom, regardless of political pressures, social trends, or shifting government policies.

Keir’s ‘Structural Misogyny’

Sir Keir Starmer
Sir Keir Starmer

I read that Sir Keir Starmer has reiterated his apology for appointing Peter, Lord, Mandelson to be our ambassador to the United States and another friend of a paedophile to the Lords, that’s Matthew, now ‘Lord’, Doyle, at a meeting of the women’s Parliamentary Labour Party (PLP).

He told the women MPs that an apology “must come with action”. Resignation, perhaps? No, he is looking forward ‘to working with them to tackle misogyny and Violence Against Women and Girls’.

Watch our video below on Rumble (or on YouTube HERE if you prefer):

Stay in your lane, ladies

Keir Starmer with Jeffrey Epstein's friend Peter Mandelson in happier times.
Keir Starmer with Jeffrey Epstein’s friend Peter Mandelson, in happier times.

Do you see what he did there? He hopes he’ll get away with deflecting their girlie thoughts onto girlie things, women’s issues old boy, so they will continue to leave the serious stuff of appointing paedophile apologists to high office to him and his boys’ club.

It’s ‘Stay in your lane, ladies’ from Keir. You might say that is of itself misogynistic. It’s definitely patronising.

The Telegraph goes on: ‘He said more needed to be done to eradicate structural misogyny and achieve real cultural change and closed his statement by saying he looked forward to joining the Women’s PLP meeting again soon.’

Well, he would say that, but what is this structural misogyny which he thinks his women MPs will be so exercised by that they will forget he appointed Epstein’s friend Mandy to the Court of King Donald and the Doyle to a peerage?

Structural Misogyny

Noah Lyles wins the men's 100m in Paris in 2024 for the USA in 9.784 seconds. The women's record (Jamaica's Elaine Thompson-Herah) is 10.61 seconds.

AI, sorry, tells me: ‘Structural misogyny in the UK is defined as a system of embedded inequality and entrenched cultural, legal, and economic practices that devalue women and maintain male dominance.’ (And there are articles.)

I see. In sporting events, like the 100 metres, male dominance is going to be difficult to eradicate, even if it is described as a ‘national emergency’ or a ‘constitution of hate’, I tell you, ‘normalized in everyday life, work, and institutions’, as AI puts it.

I mean, there’s an embedded inequality in child-rearing, isn’t there? Only men can sire children and only women can bear them. Good luck with an emergency appeal to our Creator for ‘real cultural change’ on that one, Keir. It’s a creation ordinance.

Violence Against Women and Girls

Apparently, Violence Against Women and Girls, always with leading capitals, and often reduced to VAWG, is the prime establishment example of this ‘structural misogyny’.

And before you ask, no, violence against men and boys is of little to no consequence to our leaders. AI tells me: ‘Roughly one woman is killed by a man every three days in the UK.’ And that is called ‘Femicide’, as if they were killed simply for being women.

It’s the sort of nonsense only well-placed establishment beings could take seriously. But here’s interesting. The statistics show that, in the year ending March 2024, males made up 73% of murder victims (414) and females 27% (156) in England & Wales. In round figures that’s almost three males killed for every one female.

Identity Politics

Just one of the many First World War cemeteries in France.
Just one of the many Allied First World War cemeteries in France.

Men are nearly three times more likely to fall victim to violence than women in our land. In times of war the figure shoots up. Around nine million young men died in the First World War for example. Do you hear men moaning about that inequality?

So why is violence against women seen by the godless left as worse than violence against men? Well, they excuse the partiality because they claim there is a power imbalance involved. They are obsessed with identity politics, you see.

The Bible does fairness and justice instead of godless leftist fashion. It says, near the start of the law-book of Deuteronomy:

Deut 1:17 Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s. (KJV)

Wow. The judgment in a court of law is God’s. Who knew? And God told mankind for perpetuity:

Gen 9:6 Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

Trans misogyny

AFC Bournemouth Photographer Steve Cook dressed up as 'Sophie'
AFC Bournemouth Photographer Steve Cook dressed up as ‘Sophie’

On the subject of misogyny, if it is a trans-woman, in other words, a big hairy bloke, shouting in the face of a real woman, the left excuse it because a transgender can only ever be oppressed and can never be an oppressor.

So I suggest Sir Keir can start with his own MPs, with the misogyny they refuse to acknowledge, that of allowing men to muscle in on women’s spaces and women’s sports, that of allowing worthless surgeons to cut off young women’s healthy breasts because the girl thinks she’s a boy.

Or with Labour MP Stella Creasy, who told the Daily Telegraph, ‘Do I think some women were born with penises? Yes, but they are now women and I respect that.’ She was talking about blokes pretending to be women and about those like herself who indulge the fantasy that you can choose what ‘gender’ you are.

Don’t get me going about the leader of the LibDems, Sir Ed Davey, or the Green Party’s Zack Polanski, or Zara Sultana and Jeremy in the Your Party outfit. None of them will acknowledge Almighty God as the fount of justice.

And it is even more difficult for these lost godless souls to accept that he has made us male and female and we do not have any choice in the matter. (While you are here, sign our petition:)

All part of the human race

Which takes us right back. If we have no choice over what sex we were born, then we are all part of the human race God has ordained, made ‘in the image of God’, made male or female. We are all in it together.

It is pointless and heretical to start squabbling over how much of society’s cake each sex is allocated or dividing us one from another, trying to set women against men, or men against women, invoking ‘misogyny’ when you discover more boys than girls like science subjects and engineering, or not enough women in your eyes are on the boards of companies.

Neither law nor Royal Decree can stop nature as God has ordained it.
King Canute demonstrates that neither law nor royal decree can stop nature as God has ordained it.

Pray for leaders who are humble enough to see things as God sees them and to work with his created order, not pretending they have the power to change it. If he doesn’t believe me, Sir Keir can go sit on the beach in a big chair and tell the tide not to come in. (See here for the real King Canute story.)

And you too need to start seeing things God’s way yourself or you will stay as part of the problem. If you don’t know your Bible well enough to do that, start reading it. There’s a plan to help you do that right here on our website.

IWD: “Reject Hijacking by Men With Fetishes”

International Women's Day 2026: 'Give To Gain'
International Women's Day 2026: 'Give To Gain'

If you live in Britain and still can’t tell a man from a woman on International Women’s Day, you have clearly been living under a rock.

In the year when International Women’s Day reminds society of the value and dignity of women, Britain faces a complex and controversial moment: public authorities appear more willing to accommodate gender ideology than to robustly defend women’s sex-based rights.

This year’s theme titled, “Give To Gain”, emphasises the power of reciprocity and support. According to IWD, “When people, organisations, and communities give generously, opportunities and support for women increase.” However, this support is impossible in a society where women are constantly worried if they may be sharing women-only spaces with men disguised as women.

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image… male and female created he them.

Stop Transgenderism Now!

“Protect Women’s Spaces, Reject Hijacking by Men With Fetishes”

National Director, Stephen Green Urges Action Against Men Hijacking Women’s Day
Stephen Green Urges Action Against Men Hijacking Women’s Day

Speaking ahead of 8 March, the National Director of Christian Voice, Stephen Green has urged action against men who may want to hijack Women’s Day.

“It will come as no surprise that we don’t find any support for a ‘women’s day’, national or international, in scripture. Or a men’s day, for that matter. That is why, as God has made us male and female in his image, our divine duty is to glorify our Creator by honouring each other as men and women.

“The idea for a ‘women’s day’ stems from feminism and identity politics, in which women are seen as downtrodden by men by default. That’s another idea we don’t find in the Bible.

“However, in a day when trans ideology is so prevalent in Western elites, it is necessary to proclaim that only women are women and that ‘trans-women’ (ie ‘men’) are not.

“For that reason, until the stupidity abates, we must use ‘international women’s day’ to stand up for real women, and their need for women-only spaces and sports, and to reject the conceits of dodgy men with fetishes who will be intent on highjacking ‘women’s day’. Also to reject the demands of LGBTIQA+ (sic) activists like Professor Paula Gerber. She even claims ‘we need to recognise and celebrate that … international law recognise(s) that trans women are women’. No, it doesn’t, and nor does the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom.

“A man can don a frock and slop on all the lipstick he wants, but that is not being a woman. He will never have XX chromosomes. International Women’s Day provides an opportunity to proclaim biological and scriptural reality loud and clear.”

The Supreme Court Ruling and Institutional Resistance

In 2025 a landmark Supreme Court ruling clarified that under the Equality Act 2010, the words “woman” and “sex” refer to biological sex.

Despite this clear legal direction, many councils, schools and public bodies have continued to extend policies that treat gender as purely self-defined.

Gender-neutral toilets, policies allowing unrestricted use of sex-segregated spaces, and guidance that prioritises identity over anatomy stand in tension with the court’s explicit judgment.

Proverbs 11:14 Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

NHS Spending Priorities and Women’s Safety

A group of nurses from County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust (CDDFT) have lodged an employment tribunal case for sexual discrimination and sexual harassment.
A group of nurses from County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust (CDDFT) have lodged an employment tribunal case for sexual discrimination and sexual harassment.

The case of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, reveals the practical cost of institutional decisions.

Rather than investing constrained public funds into frontline care and staffing to serve patients, the trust spent more than £600,000 of taxpayers’ money defending itself in a tribunal after eight nurses objected to sharing changing facilities with a male colleague.

The court found the nurses’ dignity had been violated — yet the financial and managerial response raises questions about prioritisation and common sense in the NHS.

1 Corinthians 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

Common Sense Not Common

Campaign group calls courts’ inaction absurd as single-sex provision remains unenforced
Campaign group calls courts’ inaction absurd as single-sex provision remains unenforced

In Febuary 2026, a High Court judge dismissed a challenge to guidance issued by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) concerning the use of single-sex toilets and changing rooms.

The legal action, brought by the Good Law Project, argued that the EHRC’s interim guidance was flawed. The court disagreed. Mr Justice Swift found no error of law and rejected the claim that the guidance unlawfully compelled “transgender” individuals to use facilities aligned with their biological sex.

The judge also criticised “polarised language” in submissions, urging lawful compliance combined with “common sense and benevolence”.

Scripture reminds us:

1 Corinthians 14:33 God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.

The court reaffirmed that if a service is genuinely open to both men and women, it is not a single-sex service. The implication is clear: where single-sex facilities exist, they are grounded in biological distinction.

The Christian doctrine of embodiment rejects the idea that sex is fluid or self-defined. The body is not incidental to identity; it is integral to it. God’s design is not arbitrary or mistaken.

Isaiah 40:28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God… fainteth not, neither is weary?

The debate remains heated, but Christians must distinguish between compassion for individuals and endorsement of ideology. To love our neighbour does not require affirming what Scripture does not.

Ephesians 4:15 Speaking the truth in love.

The Epstein Files

It is worth remembering what the exposure of Jeffrey Epstein ultimately revealed: not merely the depravity of one man, but the chilling ease with which wealth, influence and reputation can shield the powerful while vulnerable girls are ignored. The lesson is not American alone. From grooming gang scandals to failures of safeguarding closer to home, the pattern is painfully familiar, institutions hesitate, reputations are protected, and women and girls are left to carry the cost.

Scripture commands,
Isaiah 1:17,Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

International Women’s Day will ring hollow unless it moves beyond slogans and confronts the uncomfortable truth that justice for women requires courage — especially when the guilty are powerful and the politics inconvenient.

Schools, Councils and Gender Policies

Across local authorities and educational settings, policies continue to promote gender self-identification and gender-inclusive facilities, often ahead of safeguarding provisions for girls and young women.

Campaigners point to guidance that urges schools to avoid “rigid gender rules” and treat social transition requests with minimal parental involvement. But we argue that such approaches conflict with both legal precedent and the lived reality of biological sex differences, creating confusion for pupils and families.
More so, a person can neither be born male nor female.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Women’s Voices on the Margins

For many women, particularly those affected by violence, displacement from single-sex spaces, or ideological policy shifts, these institutional trends are not abstract legal questions but lived realities.

Groups campaigning for women’s safety emphasise that when policies ignore biological sex distinctions, women’s rights and protections can be eroded. The contrast between official policy direction and grassroots women’s experiences underscores a growing disconnect.

Isaiah 1:17 Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

As Britain marks International Women’s Day, Christian Voice and women’s rights advocates are calling for renewed attention to women’s lived experiences, biological realities, and the protection of women-only spaces.

Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”

Nanosermon Script:

(NB: We follow the King James Bible in not capitalising the pronouns of deity. Hence: ‘Walk in his ways’ rather than ‘Walk in His ways’.)

It’s a challenge these days, or maybe it has been in any age, to keep oneself free from sin in the sight of God. Is it do-able at all? Can we ever shake off our sinful nature? Well, the third verse of Psalm one hundred and nineteen says we can. It says:

Psalm 119:3 They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.

Actually, in the Hebrew, because every verse of the first eight verses of this psalm starts with ‘Aleph’, the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, the first word is ‘aph’. So it should read, literally, ‘Also, they do no iniquity: they walk in his ways’.

New Testament confirmation

What is that ‘also’ for and who are ‘they’? Going back to verses one and two, ‘they’ are the blessed people who are undefiled in the way, walk in the law of the Lord, keep God’s commandments, and seek him with their whole heart.

And as well as receiving the blessing in verse one and the blessing in verse two, they do no iniquity. Day by day, they just walk in God’s ways.

There is a great New Testament confirmation of this verse in the first letter of John, chapter three and verse nine:

1John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

So the one who keeps God’s commandments and seeks his face with his whole heart, so that he commits no iniquity and walks in the ways of the Lord, does that because he is born of God.

Charles Spurgeon’s Treasury of David

Charles Spurgeon, in his Treasury of David, says ‘we shall have reached the region of pure blessedness when we altogether cease from sin.’

It’s not that these men and women the psalmist talks about have never sinned, it is that by being born again of the spirit, their heart is to do no evil any more.

IF they sin, they know they have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. (See 1John 2:1) The humble are always forgiven.

Spurgeon goes on to speak of these blessed people: ‘They attend not only to the great main highway of the law, but to the smaller paths of the particular precepts. As they will perpetrate no sin of commission, so do they labour to be free from every sin of omission. It is not enough to them to be blameless, they wish also to be actively righteous.’

Your desire and attitude

Wherever you are, and whatever you think of yourself, God challenges you to live a life free from iniquity and walk in his ways – and he thinks you could be up for it. Don’t forget, there is a blessing attached to doing it, and it is do-able by the grace of God, if you want to.

The desire and the attitude are the important things. You have to want to walk with the Lord. That’s the desire. As for the attitude, if you think, ‘I’ll never achieve that’, then you won’t.

But if you tell yourself, ‘I’m turning my back on sin, I’m going to seek the Lord with my whole heart, I’m going to keep his commandments, I’m taking hold of that blessing, Jesus, help me,’ then you will.

Your time to do no iniquity and walk in his ways has come.

Could Blasphemy Laws Return by the Back Door?

A man who burned an Islamic ‘holy book’ in a demonstration outside the Turkish consulate, has won a landmark blasphemy case at the High Court.

According to The Telegraph, Hamit Coskun, 51, previously succeeded in overturning a conviction for holding up a flaming copy of the quran and shouting “f—- Islam”, in what he insisted was a political protest.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) appealed against the decision, claiming his actions were criminal and amounted to disorderly conduct.

Blasphemy Through the Back Door

In a judgment handed down on 27 February 2026, Lord Justice Warby and Ms Justice Obi upheld the decision to overturn the conviction.

It is indeed a rare win for free speech. However the desperate decision of prosecutors to convict Mr. Coskun, and effectively reintroduce blasphemy laws by the backdoor, should be of great concern.

The Free Speech Union, which supported Coskun throughout proceedings, has now called for Stephen Parkinson, the Director of Public Prosecutions, to resign following the “humiliating defeat”.

Earlier this month, Tim Owen KC, representing Mr. Coskun at a hearing, said the appeal by the CPS was attempting to make burning any book on the streets of London a disorderly act as a matter of law.

“This is a hopeless appeal,” he said. “It doesn’t matter what book it is, it could be Harry Potter or the Koran, but setting fire to it in central London completes the element of disorder.”

Before Friday’s judgment, Hamit warned that if he lost, he may be forced to “flee the UK and move to the US where President [Donald] Trump has stood for free speech and against Islamic extremism”.

The Back Story

Koran burner cleared as judge says he has right to cause offence.
Quran burner cleared as judge says he has right to cause offence.

Hamit Coskun arrived in England from Turkey in 2022 as a political asylum seeker. As an Armenian Kurd born and raised in Turkey, he had fled persecution at the hands of the Turkish authorities, and the increasingly theocratic Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

By the beginning of 2025, he had had enough of Tayyip Erdoğan’s secularism and laws that drove Turkey in an Islamist direction. On 13th February, he travelled to the Turkish consulate in Knightsbridge, west London, to make a pointed protest. He then set fire to the Quran and held it above his head, shouting “Islam is a religion of terrorism” and “f— Islam”.

As he did so, passer-by Moussa Kadri attacked him, slashing at Coskun with a knife and then kicking him when he fell to the ground.

Mr. Coskun was originally charged by the CPS with harassing the “religious institution of Islam”. However, the charge was later amended after the National Secular Society (NSS) and the Free Speech Union (FSU) took up his case and argued he was being accused of blasphemy.

What Happened to Caskun’s Attacker?

While Hamit Coskun was prosecuted for “religiously aggravated disorderly behaviour”, his attacker, Moussa Kadri, appeared to receive more lenient treatment.

At Southwark Crown Court in September, the judge noted that Kadri had been “deeply offended” by Coskun’s desecration of the Holy Qur’an.

After pleading guilty to common assault and possession of a knife in a public place, Mr Kadri was given a suspended sentence and ordered to pay a £150 victim surcharge. By contrast, Mr Coskun had earlier been convicted at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in June 2025 and fined £240 for disorderly behaviour aggravated by hostility towards Muslims. The magistrate remarked that the assault on Mr Coskun demonstrated how “provocative” his actions had been.

In a country where knife crime is treated with the utmost seriousness, questions have been raised as to why the Crown Prosecution Service appeared to prioritise pursuing a ‘Quran-burning’ case while a knife offence resulted in a suspended sentence.

Leviticus 19:15 Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.

Britain’s Christian Heritage and the Question of Blasphemy

In practical terms, the judgment reinforces that blasphemy is no longer a criminal offence in the United Kingdom, having been formally abolished in 2008. And for context, the abolished blasphemy law was put in place to protect Christianity.

For a nation whose laws, calendar, and institutions were historically shaped by the Christian faith, the implications are profound. A return to blasphemy legislation would represent not merely a legal shift but a moral statement, reaffirming that the public square should not be entirely detached from the country’s spiritual inheritance.

Additionally, the debate raises questions about integration and civic responsibility. Britain has long prided itself on offering refuge and opportunity to people of many backgrounds; yet with that openness comes an expectation that newcomers recognise and respect the cultural and religious foundations that underpin national life. In this view, restoring blasphemy protections would be framed not as suppressing dissent but as re-establishing boundaries of civility in a plural society.

Isaiah 10:1 Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed.

Integration

The National Director for Christian Voice, Stephen Green wrote: “The plain fact is, British Muslims show little inclination to integrate into British society. In a great number of our towns, they have formed their own enclaves in which English, where spoken at all, is a second language. Yet they now demand ‘equal treatment’ and the freedom to express their views and beliefs.

“Would this include the belief among a section of Muslim men that poor, white, working-class British girls from broken family backgrounds, often in local-authority care, are legitimate prey for sexual exploitation and rape? Let us not forget our establishment tried to cover up that scandal, in the name of the same ‘multi-culturalism’ and ‘diversity’ expounded by the ‘Islamophobia working group’.”

Gorton & Denton by-election result is a judgment

Yesterday’s by-election result in Manchester’s Gorton and Denton constituency could not be more serious for the United Kingdom. Indeed, it may well be a life or death moment.

The Green Party’s Hannah Spencer took the seat with 14,980 votes, a majority over Reform of 4,402. They secured 40.7% of the votes, compared to 28.7% for Reform’s Matt Goodwin. Labour held the seat at the general election in July 2024, but saw their vote halved as their candidate Angeliki Stogia ended up in third place. See the reports in the Telegraph, the Guardian and ITV News.

‘Hate and grievance’

Gorton and Denton candidates for 26/02/26 by-election
Gorton and Denton candidates for 26/02/26 by-election

The election was marked by sectarianism, dirty tricks and tactical voting. On the eve of polling, Sir Keir Starmer had told Gorton and Denton voters that the by-election was a battle “for the soul of the nation”. He was right to refer to a spiritual dimension to the contest, even if he could only dimly see it.

He described the race as “a fight between people like me who want to fix Britain’s problems and bring communities together. And between people like Nigel Farage who only want to spread hate and grievance”. Labour certainly appear to be prone to infighting, which was what his first sentence suggested. However, in his second sentence, it was the Greens spreading hatred of Israel and playing on Muslim grievances, not Reform. On top of that, Labour, fixated by Reform in the national context, also had the wrong target. It was the Greens who posed the greatest threat to them in Gorton and Denton, not Reform.

The election marked the first time in a generation (except when Labour withdrew their candidate) that neither Labour nor Conservatives came at least second in the contest. In fact, both Conservative and LibDem candidates lost their deposit last night, polling less than 2% each. The threshold for retaining a candidate’s deposit is 5%.

’Family voting’ observed

Nigel Farage, the Reform leader, accused Muslim voters of cheating to elect the Greens. He claimed the result was a victory for “sectarian voting” which presented “serious questions” about the integrity of the ballot in “predominantly Muslim areas”. Reform may refer matters to the police.

Democracy Volunteers, a poll observer group accredited by the Electoral Commission, said it had witnessed “concerningly high levels” of family voting in Thursday’s by-election. The practice – which can involve members of one household, for example, a husband and wife, entering the polling booth together, was made illegal by the Ballot Secrecy Act 2023.

It seems polling staff saw nothing, but, astonishingly, a newspaper has revealed advice to polling staff from the Electoral Commission urged them to exhibit ‘sensitivity for United Kingdom cultures and customs’, ‘keep quiet about it’, in other words. And we can only imagine the scope for abuse of the postal vote, completed in people’s homes.

After the vote, GBNews says the successful Hannah Spencer was claiming Muslim voters ‘had more in common with white working-class communities than believed’. She then promised to “always be decent to our Muslim communities.”

Writing in the Telegraph, Annabel Denham said: ‘Reading from her phone after her victory, Hannah Spencer – plumber, plasterer and now Green member for the South Manchester seat – barely touched on foreign conflicts. It was all cost of living and trust in politics. “We ran a hopeful campaign and defeated the party of billionaire donors,” she declared. Voters, she insisted, “don’t have to be turned against each other.” It takes some nerve to speak of unity after a campaign that distributed materials in Urdu urging Muslim voters to “punish Labour for Gaza”. ‘

Let us be under no illusion. Following their success, the Green Party will be rolling out their modus operandi country-wide, wherever there is a sizeable Muslim population. Scores of seats could be involved in an antisemitic, nakedly sectarian push. A paper reports an Electoral Calculus projection that all but one of the current Cabinet would lose their seats as MPs. Labour could be reduced to 33 seats, the Tories to 10. Reform would be the largest party but have no majority in Parliament.

’Antisemitic and frankly demonic’

Green Party antisemitism on display: Leader Zack Polanski (right) with Ben Jamal, director of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign
Green Party antisemitism on display: Leader Zack Polanski (right) with Ben Jamal, director of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign

This result really matters. Labour is secularist, Reform are growing more and more sympathetic to the Christian heritage of the United Kingdom, but the Green Party is antisemitic and close to being frankly demonic.

We knew the Green Party as a bunch of Gaia-worshipping, anti-growth, anti-wealth (except for themselves) bobble-hat wearing Net Zero fanatics.

Under its new leader, Zack Polanski, the Green party retains the godless woke leftism, including LGBT, pro-abortion as well as Net Zero, but has also been taken over by Muslims. Gaza is their totem issue, and Israel is supposedly conducting a ‘genocide’ in the Gaza strip. It is now Islamo-left, and we should pray its uneasy coalition ends up in the same internecine strife that has afflicted the Corbyn-Sultana ‘Your Party’ outfit.

Mothin Ali

The Green’s Deputy Leader is Mothin Ali, who yelled the Muslim war-cry when he was elected as a councillor in Leeds in 2024.

And the Green Party will vote next month on a motion that claims ‘Zionism’ should be treated as a form of racism. By refusing to condemn the motion, Mr Polanski is condemning his Jewish mother and sister, who are outspoken in their defence of Israel, to be cast as racist.

Nakedly sectarian

The Green Party is also nakedly sectarian in its approach. A large part of the ‘Gorton’ wing of the constituency are Muslim, the majority from Pakistan. It is well understood that election leaflets should be printed in English alone in the United Kingdom. In Wales the Welsh language is added, but that is it.

However, as Spiked Online reveals (and much more), the Green Party printed and distributed election material in the Pakistani language of Urdu, excluding non-Urdu speakers and sending a clear signal that they are more concerned with the ‘Ummah’, the Muslim world, than with the United Kingdom as a whole.

Christian Voice is apolitical. We endorse no political party or parties. But there is a spiritual dimension here which is above secular party politics. The Green Party is identifying itself with Islamism and with mainstream Muslim antisemitism, solidly based on the Islamic scriptures, as our videos (links below) demonstrate.

Vast majority of Muslims hate Israel

A survey in 2024 carried out by JL Partners for the Henry Jackson Society found only one in four British Muslims believe Israel has a right to exist as a Jewish homeland. The same proportion of British Muslims (ie, one quauter) believe Hamas committed murder and rape in Israel on October 7th 2023. 80% believe Israel is committing genocide on Palestinians. Even Wikipedia concedes: ‘Within the Muslim world, the legitimacy of the State of Israel has been challenged since its inception, and support for Israel’s right to exist is a minority orientation.’

Taken with the injunction found in the Hadith, a key part of the Muslim scriptures, to kill Jews, the rise of the Green Party’s level of confidence could spell death to Jewish believers. The Bondi Beach massacre and the Heaton Park attack should be acting as a warning that the presence in our midst of fervent Koran-reading, mosque-going Muslims is inimical to Jewish people being able to live among us without fear in peace and security.

Our elite, of course, deny reality. For Australia’s Prime Minister Albanese the problem with Bondi was not Islamic ideology but his nation’s gun laws. For King Charles, Islam has ‘much to teach us’ about the environment. For UK politicians, the cause of multiculturalism took and still takes priority over the safety of young girls.

We must pray

We are calling Christians to pray into this crisis, with our spiritual eyes open. Successive leaders of our United Kingdom have legislated not just to legalise evil but to promote it. We are no better than Sodom and Gomorrah. It is hard not to see the small-boat crossings as an invasion force, adding steadily to the followers of Mohammed who are already here, a majority of whom are in favour of Sharia and Islam as a, if not the, national religion.

In which case, will an Islamic takeover be God’s judgment on this nation? Pray the Lord will remember mercy in his wrath and give our nation’s elite the opportunity to repent. The forces of darkness were advanced by this result, and despite our prayers for mercy, the Lord has delivered judgment.

But it’s not over until God says it’s over. Keep praying the Lord will raise up (Exod 18:21) … ‘able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness,’ those who will honour and proclaim our Christian constitution and the King of kings as Sovereign over the King and his ministers in our land.

Extra Funding for NHS “Had No Impact” on Health

Former health minister Lord Bethell says NHS spending has doubled in 17 years with “no impact” on the nation’s health.

The former health minister Lord Bethell has admitted that NHS spending has doubled in 17 years with “no impact” on the nation’s health. He warned that the costs has led to deteriorating clinical outcomes and flatlining life expectancy.

Comments from Lord Bethell, a health minister during the Boris Johnson administration, have reignited concern over the trajectory of Britain’s healthcare system.

Speaking to The Telegraph, he warned that soaring expenditure paired with stagnant outcomes signals what he described as a looming “social, moral and economic disaster.”

His remarks echo a growing unease among policy observers who question whether ever-increasing funding alone can remedy structural decline.

A System Strained by Demography

In the same interview, Prof Jonathan Van-Tam, former deputy chief medical officer, highlighted a “demographic time bomb,” pointing to an ageing population living longer but not healthier lives.

Comparable warnings have surfaced in regional health reviews, particularly in post-industrial communities where chronic illness and economic deprivation intersect, amplifying pressure on local services.

NHS workforce briefings and public health reports illustrate the same pattern of rising demand outpacing prevention efforts.

Governments have repeatedly pumped extra cash into the NHS in an attempt to cut waiting lists and improve the care. However, much of this money is wasted or spent on pay rises.

Pay for resident doctors has increased by 28.9% in the past three years, the biggest increase of any profession, after years of strike action. Meanwhile, the nation’s health is showing signs of worsening.

Ask us to come and speak at your church →

Billions Spent, Outcomes Flatlining

Over roughly 17 years, funding for the National Health Service has doubled from about £100 billion to £200 billion, yet life expectancy gains have slowed and, in some regions, reversed.

Structural inefficiencies, administrative expansion, and reactive spending have diluted the intended impact.

In 2009, Britain spent roughly £100bn to run the NHS. This year, the health service set the taxpayer back more than twice as much – £203.4bn to be precise.

Similar debates followed past funding surges, such as post-2010 winter-pressure allocations, which temporarily eased waiting times but failed to deliver sustained health improvements.

Meanwhile, in County Durham , the Darlington NHS Foundation Trust spent over £600,000 defending a legal case brought by eight nurses who objected to sharing changing facilities with a ‘trans’ colleague. This is one out of many, a typical case of mismanagement of taxpayers funds towards irrelevant causes.

Return to the UK’s Christian Constitution →

The Human Cost Behind the Numbers

Behind the fiscal debate lies a more sobering reality: younger generations may spend a far greater share of life managing chronic illness.

Community testimonies from carers and overstretched GP practices tell of delayed diagnoses and fragmented support, particularly in deprived areas.

1 Corinthians 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

For many Christians, the question is not merely financial efficiency but whether national priorities reflect a commitment to care for the vulnerable.

Lord Bethell’s warning that the nation risks burdening future generations with unsustainable costs has sharpened calls for a shift toward prevention, personal responsibility, and community-based support.

Faith groups, charities, and local churches increasingly fill gaps through food banks, wellbeing initiatives, and pastoral care, a reminder that societal health extends beyond hospital walls. Whether policymakers heed these warnings or continue the cycle of funding without reform may determine not only fiscal stability but the moral health of the nation itself.

NHS Nurses ‘Trans’ Dispute Cost Taxpayers £600k

A group of nurses from County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust (CDDFT) have lodged an employment tribunal case for sexual discrimination and sexual harassment.

Amid mounting waiting lists and chronic funding pressures across the NHS, County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust spent over £600,000 defending a legal case brought by eight nurses who objected to sharing changing facilities with a ‘trans’ colleague.

An employment tribunal found the trust had violated the nurses’ dignity, ruling that its actions amounted to harassment, a stark reminder that resources meant for patient care are being diverted into ideological disputes.

Employment judge Seamus Sweeney also said that allowing the nurses’ ‘transgender’ colleague – Rose Henderson whose real name is Tyler, to share changing facilities had created a “hostile, intimidating, humiliating and degrading environment”.

A report written by Steve Russell, the trust’s chief executive, presented to the board has revealed that the trust spent hundreds of thousands of pounds on defending itself in the case.

The total cost of the tribunal was around £603,000, the report says, which is the equivalent of more than 19 annual salaries for newly qualified nurses on around £31,400.

In other words, funds that could have been channelled to hiring more professionals to help reduce the workload on staff and the system was invested into pursuing woke ideologies.

NHS tells 9m people to get therapy for ‘anxiety’

YORK, ENGLAND – APRIL 18: Wes Streeting, Shadow Health Secretary, speaks with health professionals at the University of York Health and Sciences building on April 18, 2023 in York, England. Around nine million people in Britain with anxiety or related conditions are being urged to seek therapy through the NHS as part of a state drive to tackle rising worklessness.

Mental ill-health is now the leading cause of long-term sickness, with referrals to talking therapies surpassing seven million in three years.

What is presented as compassionate outreach also exposes the scale of a deeper national malaise. When almost a quarter of adults under 45 carry a diagnosable condition, this is no longer a marginal health issue but evidence of a society under profound strain.

The language of “epidemic anxiety” hints not merely at individual fragility but at cultural instability, a nation medicating symptoms while avoiding root causes.

Meanwhile, the number of people referred to NHS talking therapies has increased by 26 per cent since 2018, with more than seven million referrals in the three years to the end of 2025. But NHS officials say that millions more are “missing out on available support”, with an estimated 9.4 million people affected by a common mental health condition.

Therapy as Economic Policy

The campaign is explicitly framed as labour-market intervention. Health Secretary Wes Streeting argues that restoring mental health will “power the labour market,” tying personal wellbeing directly to productivity. Adding that saying “the health of the nation and the health of the economy are inextricably linked”.

Government messaging suggests therapy is not only treatment but an economic lever. Such framing risks reducing human distress to a workforce variable. When healing is measured by return-to-work metrics, the line between care and social management becomes blurred.

Mr Streeting told The Telegraph: “We cannot sit back and ignore the rise in mental health problems in our society. Doing so would leave a generation of people to suffer alone, and leave our economy and society deprived of their talent and potential.”

A society that treats the soul primarily as an economic unit may relieve symptoms while leaving deeper spiritual and communal fractures untouched.

Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Officials and bodies such as the Royal College of Psychiatrists describe a “silent mental health pandemic,” with conditions ranging from social anxiety to PTSD now channelled into structured therapies like CBT.

Meanwhile, unemployment among young people has climbed above 16 per cent, and millions remain economically inactive due to long-term sickness.

Ecclesiastes 7:14 In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him.

Policy Retreats and Political Pressures

The push for therapy expansion follows political turbulence, including welfare reform reversals under the government of Keir Starmer. Planned benefit restrictions were softened after backlash, underscoring how mental-health policy now sits at the intersection of economics, welfare, and electoral risk.

The result is a landscape where compassion, fiscal pressure, and political survival intermingle. Britain faces not only a clinical challenge but a moral one: whether healing will be pursued merely through services and spending, or through rebuilding the social, familial, and spiritual foundations that sustain resilience.

Psalm 34:18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

A gunman who identified as a woman reportedly killed his ex-wife and son and injured three others at a high school hockey match in Rhode Island on Monday.

Robert Dorgan, the father of one of the hockey players, shot Rhonda Dorgan and their son Aidan in the stands at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena before turning the gun on himself.

The Pawtucket police chief, Tina Goncalves, told the press that the gunman used the name Roberta Esposito.

“We have identified the person, the suspect, by a birth name. The birth name was Robert Dorgan, but does go by the name of Roberta and also uses the last name of Esposito.”

Police said Rhonda Dorgan died at the arena while Aidan succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

Goldman Sachs is removing race, gender and other diversity-related considerations when evaluating prospective candidates for its executive roles.

Leading global investment banking, securities, and asset and wealth management firm, Goldman Sachs is planning to scrap diversity rules for its board of directors amid a wider retreat of so-called diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in corporate America.

The Wall Street bank will reportedly remove requirements related to race, gender identity and sexual orientation from the guidelines used to select directors later this year.

David Solomon, the chief executive of Goldman Sachs, once said DEI was a “top priority” but the bank has recently cut back policies related to the issue.

In 2025, it dropped a rule saying it would refuse to take companies public if they did not have diverse enough boards, saying the policy had “served its purpose”.

President Donald Trump has called DEI policies “un-American”. Elon Musk, whose rocket company SpaceX is preparing for possibly the year’s biggest Wall Street flotation, has called them “just another word for racism”.

Tory Mayor: Christians in politics “abhorrent”

The Tory Mayor of a town council in rural England has said Christian influence in politics is “abhorrent”.

Steve Bucknell, town mayor of Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council, told The Telegraph it was “abhorrent” that Christian organisations and religion were “trying to influence politics”.

Council wants to fly transgender flag

The outburst comes after criticism of the town council for submitting a planning application to Wiltshire council to fly the pro-transgender ‘progress pride’ flag near the town’s war memorial.

The positioning of the flag by the Wiltshire town’s Cenotaph has been called “disrespectful” to veterans, with the council accused of “virtue signalling”.

Royal Wootton Bassett has an association with the armed forces, especially since the bodies of more than 350 Armed Forces personnel killed in Afghanistan were repatriated through the town from RAF Lyneham between 2007 and 2011.

One local said on social media that the council was “wasting money on woke c–p and sexual propaganda”, while another said: “It’s a flag that only represents a small minority of the country and excludes the majority. Only flags of towns, counties and countries should be flown.”

Violation of political neutrality

The Christian Legal Centre (CLC) claims the town council plan constitutes a violation of political neutrality laws under the Local Government Act 1986 and is vulnerable to legal action.

Andrea Williams of Christian Concern and Christian Legal Centre
Andrea Williams of Christian Legal Centre

Andrea Williams, CLC’s chief executive, told The Telegraph: “It is deeply inappropriate to fly the progressive flag next to a war memorial, particularly in a town with such a profound military heritage. The cenotaph is a place of solemn remembrance for those who gave their lives in service to the nation, not a platform for contemporary political messaging.”

Mrs Williams added: “Section 2 of the Local Government Act 1986 prohibits local authorities from publishing material that promotes a politically controversial viewpoint.

“Flying the Progressive Pride flag in this context is not an act of neutrality but one of political endorsement. That makes the decision open to judicial review.”

‘Divisive, insensitive and illegal’

Stephen Green
Christian Voice National Director Stephen Green outside Parliament

Stephen Green, national director of Christian Voice, was also quoted in the Telegraph. He added: “From NHS trusts to the police, schools, local authorities, politicians, civil servants, even the Crown Estate, it’s as if the whole establishment has fallen under a transgender spell from the pit of hell itself.

“It’s not only divisive, politically insensitive and illegal, but it’s an assault on truth and the created order, and shows how out of touch with both reality and ordinary decent people are those who lead us.

“I think they hope that by banging in about transgenderism with their Progress Pride flag, they hope to browbeat us all into acceptance so it’s no longer seen as a contentious issue.

“Well, dream on, because people are not as stupid as those in high office. I just pray they will all be booted out at the next opportunity.”

Promoting transgenderism ‘harmful’

Ed Rimmer, the leader of the Reform UK group on Wiltshire council, told The Telegraph: “I think it [the Progress Pride flag] being centralised in a town on a public flagpole is not the right thing or suitable.” Wiltshire council planning officials say the flag is considered an advertisement, is not a recognised national or celebratory flag, and requires planning permission under the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) (England) Regulations 2007.

Fiona McAnena of Sex Matters
Fiona McAnena of Sex Matters

Fiona McAnena, director of campaigns at Sex Matters, the sex-based rights charity, said: “The people of this town are known for paying their respects to members of the armed forces who have died in service. It is obscene for the council to push its virtue-signalling ‘rainbow’ agenda into this solemn place.

“Many think that the Progress Pride flag represents kindness and inclusion when in reality it stands for the erosion of safeguarding, and the undermining of women’s and gay rights, as well as harmful practices in the name of ‘gender medicine’.

“Wiltshire council needs to reject this application and set a standard for local authorities in standing up to the noisy minority who think this will reflect well on the township of Royal Wootton Bassett.”

‘We honour those who serve’?

The motto of Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council: is ‘We honour those who serve’. But their proposed flag will honour those who spit in the face of God.

The council appears to be Liberal Democrat controlled, with many councillors elected unopposed. However, Mr Bucknell was the Conservative Party Candidate when he was elected in 2021, and then decided he was ‘independent’ when re-elected in 2025.

St Bartholomew & All Saints Church, Royal Wootton Bassett
St Bartholomew & All Saints Church, Royal Wootton Bassett

Stephen Green said: ‘Mr Bucknell was happy enough with Christian influence in politics when his Mayor Making Ceremony took place at St Bartholomew & All Saints Church in Royal Wootton Bassett on Thursday 15th May 2025.

‘But now he cannot cope when Christians criticise him for antichristian, woke policies, calling it “abhorrent” when Christian organisations and the Christian faithful exercise their prophetic voice. Then we are: “trying to influence politics”.

‘Flying the “progress pride” flag is to align the council with perverted men muscling in on women’s spaces and women’s sports and evil medics and surgeons medicalising and mutilating disturbed young people going through puberty who have fallen for lies on social media telling them they are the wrong sex, or “gender”. How can we remain silent in the face of such evil?

Mayor rejecting UK Christian foundation

‘For a Conservative, or whatever he is now, mayor to reject the Christian foundation of our United Kingdom and to deny the spiritual dimension and the authority of King Jesus shows the depth of the problem facing our nation.

‘If it is “abhorrent” when Christian organisations and religion are “trying to influence politics” that means Christian input is excluded from the public square, in a constitutionally-Christian nation. Secularists might argue that makes laws ‘neutral’, but seen through a spiritual lens, if laws no longer come from the throne of grace, they will arise from the pit of hell.

‘Our politicians simply cannot go on expecting to solve the challenges of a nation under judgment in their own strength.’

Christians cannot remain silent

The Lord told the prophet Isiaiah:
Isa 58:1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

And when the Lord’s people follow that command, the prophet Amos explains what happens:
Amos 5:10 They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.

To the wicked, then, we are abhorrent. But the Lord Jesus told his disciples:
John 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

And why did ‘the world’, the ungodly, hate him?
John 7:7b … me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.

Pray for true leaders

Pray for able, humble, God-fearing, men of truth and honesty to be found in our land to lead us at this time when oppressive wokeness, antisemitism and Islamic ambition stalk our land. Pray the Lord will raise up leaders who will choose life, not death, when our Christian heritage is under attack from today’s unholy alliance of secularists, godless leftists and Muslims.

The Bible lays down this challenge to leaders in every age:
Deut 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

Nanosermon Script:

They say you can tell how strongly the heart of a church is beating by the vigour of its prayer meeting. Well, measured by that yardstick, how well is your church doing?

And if you don’t have a church – you should, but if you don’t – then maybe you meet with family or friends. Even husband and wife is a church, and a powerful one at that. So how well is your mini-church doing, measured by its prayer meeting?

What’s wrong with your prayer meeting?

I think many of us will have to put our hands up and say, ‘Not very well.’ Now you could be saying that for a variety of reasons. Perhaps the attendance is poor. Perhaps the attendance is predominantly female. That’s not bad if you’re a group of women, but it is a concern if prayer is thought in a church to be a girly thing to do.

Perhaps it’s not very exciting. Perhaps nothing ever happens. Perhaps you never see an answer to your prayers. So that’s why the people have stopped coming.

Right then, so what shall we do about the prayer meeting? Pray about it, I hear you say. And by so doing you have made my point.

I have sat in too many prayer meetings where we discussed the stuff for around half the meeting, and then the leader said something like, ‘Shall we turn to prayer?’ and we all put serious faces on and inclined our bodies a shade forward.

We need to seek the Lord

Then we started giving God his orders. Lord you know this situation, person, blah blah blah. Lord, do this. Do that. Do this, Do that. Do this, Do that. Do this, Do that. And you know, we turned to prayer but rarely did we turn to scripture. Above all, not once did we say, ‘Lord, show us what we can do to advance your Kingdom in this situation.’

So we didn’t actually seek the Lord. We didn’t ask his wisdom, or his direction. The word of God says, in Deuteronomy chapter four and verse twenty-nine:

Deut 4:29 But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.

Look, the context is all about Israel being under judgment because of corporate sin. I accept that, but should WE not be seeking the Lord in every challenge? If we seek him in his word he may show us something we need to put right. Or he will show us a word which gives us something to do.

Be sure of this. The Lord receives many of these ‘do this’ ‘do that’ prayers. Rarely does he receive a prayer asking him to show us something we should do. And I have a theory that when the Lord does receive those kinds of prayer he pours out his heart to those humble people who asked.

The Lord will give you a plan

So now, when you come back next week, someone has been shown a word. Someone else confirms it. I’ve lost count of the times the Christian Voice Lamplight Bible Reading Plan has thrown up just the right scripture on just the right day. But we are not limited by that. The word in season will come one way or another. Yet another person in the meeting has had a dream, or a vision. Two or three people will bring the same idea.

Now we’re motoring. We have sought the Lord and by his grace he has shown us a scriptural foundation and a plan. And by carrying out the Lord’s plan, standing on his word, we are setting ourselves up for the Lord to break in and bring a miracle. And when we tell the whole church about this, people will start coming to that prayer meeting.

As for the gender imbalance, well, men like it when the Lord reveals an action plan, because action is what they thrive on. And although prayers aren’t weapons – because it is the word of God which is the Sword of the Spirit, it doesn’t hurt to hang some ceremonial swords and axes on the walls of the prayer room. Just to, er, complement the flowers, you understand.

Let me know in the comments how your church prayer meeting is going, and if this NanoSermon blessed and encouraged you, then share it!

Starmer in Munich: What he means by ‘We’ and ‘Our’

When the world’s elite use common phrases, they don’t mean what you think they mean.

Watch this article in video format:

First Person Plural

Let’s take a look at Sir Keir Starmer’s Valentine’s Day message to his “lovers” at the February 2026 Munich Security Conference.

“His lovers”? I hear you cry. Don’t worry — there’ll be some supporting scripture.

Sir Keir went all pro-EU and anti-Brexit, and that’s what the pro-Brexit media have concentrated on. But I want to look at his use of the first-person plural — “we”, “our” and “ours” — to let you in on the Global Establishment’s world.

Sir Keir Starmer speaking at the Munich Security Conference 2026
Sir Keir Starmer speaking at the Munich Security Conference 2026

I have to set the scene. Obviously, in Western Europe, Russia is a big bogeyman, so that’s where Starmer started: “Russia has proved its appetite for aggression, bringing terrible suffering to the Ukrainian people.”

Ah, geopolitics. It is never entirely as it seems, but that is the EU line, for sure. He went on:

’Our’ Social Contract

“Its hybrid threats extend across our continent, not just threatening our security, but tearing at our social contract.”

“Our” there does not mean yours or mine. It means theirs. It’s their continent, their security, and what they think is their social contract. Because I don’t know how the Russians could have undermined the social contract or social order of the United Kingdom any more than a succession of home-grown politicians over the last twenty-five years.

You’ve had the Tony Blair encouragement of mass migration, the Boris wave, and now the Starmer surge.

Migration over 19 months in office

Illegal Migration by boat across the English Channel

In the nineteen months since Labour came to power in July 2024, a total of 65,922 people — overwhelmingly young men, have crossed the English Channel in small boats.

That’s nudging 850 a week, which is one and a half 581-room Britannia Canary Wharf migrant hotels. The invention of multiculturalism and the flood of Muslims has all but destroyed British society. Jewish people now go in fear of Muslim violence, and Hindus and Christians will be next on the list. That has happened on Keir Starmer’s watch. And he accuses the Russians of “tearing at our social contract”?

He went on to accuse the Russians of: “Collaborating with populists to undermine our values. Using disinformation to sow division. Using cyber-attacks and sabotage to disrupt our lives and deepening the cost-of-living crisis.”

It’s the Russians to blame, not us!

Working backwards — so it’s the Russians to blame for our cost-of-living crisis. It’s nothing to do with the unscriptural tax impositions he and his Chancellor have piled on the people.

“Using disinformation to sow division.” Division here means discussion and debate. He means nothing must compete with government propaganda. Anything contrary is “disinformation”. Well, tough, Keir, you are in the social media age now, and dissenting voices will be heard.

Josh Simons MP is Parliamentary Secretary in the Cabinet Office (appointed 7th September 2025)
Josh Simons MP is Parliamentary Secretary in the Cabinet Office (appointed 7th September 2025)

So the Russians are “collaborating with populists to undermine our values.” I’ve seen no evidence to support that slur, but there is the “our” again — our values. He does not mean your values or mine. He means their values — those of the establishment.

And he persisted with that line only days after the scandal broke where the Labour Together think tank and senior Labour figures, including Josh Simons MP, a government minister, smeared journalists with the same Russia line. (Guardian link above is worth a read!)

’Our’ democracy

By the way, when you hear “our democracy” it’s the same idea. It’s their democracy, that which keeps them in power.

And they are prepared to rip up actual democracy with legal action — in Germany, Romania, France, or in England — to try to stop elections altogether to stop populists gaining office and thereby destroying “their democracy”. Don’t expect logic, justice, truth, or coherence from them.

You know, when ancient Israel received their covenant with God and His laws, they boasted about it, here in Deuteronomy chapter 4:

Deut 4:8 And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?

Return to the UK’s Christian Constitution →

“The great British values”

So what are the values of the British establishment which are so great?

Drag Queen Tour
Drag Queen Story Hour ‘on tour’

We have gay marriage, drag queen story hour, pornographic sex education, abortion on demand, puberty-blocker trials, net zero, de-industrialisation, welfarism, antisemitism, divorce on demand — none of them in any party manifesto — all just imposed on us by our leaders, leading to unrestrained sexual licence coupled with a declining population, all while harbouring the seeds of an Islamic sectarian takeover, which none of us voted for, but which would be no more than God’s righteous judgment on an elite who have chosen the ways of death.

To be fair, Sir Keir did mention the rule of law. But even that brings to mind the two-tier justice he has encouraged, contrary to scripture, and the Muslim grooming gangs.

Multiculturalism

And yes, multiculturalism — which was never in a manifesto — is one of his values. He said: “True to the vibrant, free, diverse societies that we represent, showing that people who look different to each other can live peacefully together.”

King Charles delivers his woke Christmas Message 2025
King Charles delivers his woke Christmas Message 2025

Tell that to the Jewish synagogue in Manchester, or the victims of the London or Manchester Arena bombings.

He knows the population don’t agree with him, because he argued: “But this isn’t against the tenor of our times.” Increasingly, Prime Minister, it really is. And then, would you believe it — hot on the heels of the King’s Christmas message — out came “diversity is our strength” again: “Rather, it’s what makes us strong, as we’re prepared to defend it with everything that we have.”

Are we? The Psalmist says it is unity which brings a blessing, not diversity:

Psalm 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

EU’s Values

And what of the values of Keir’s EU audience?

Viktor Orbán, Prime Minister of Hungary
Viktor Orbán, Prime Minister of Hungary

Last year the European Commission adopted a full LGBTIQ+ equality strategy.

Only last week the European Parliament voted to impose trans ideology across the EU. (Read this approving article: European Parliament Votes Overwhelmingly For “The Full Recognition Of Trans Women As Women”)

Viktor Orbán, Prime Minister of Hungary, says the danger to his nation comes more from the EU now than from Russia. You can see why.

’We’ will need to fight

Going all warlike, our Prime Minister vowed:“And yes, if necessary, we must be ready to fight. To do whatever it takes to protect our people, our values, and our way of life.”

Did he say “protect our people”? When did the UK or EU elite last prioritise the people over themselves? And look, there are “our values” and “our way of life” popping up again. You know what that means now.

I loved the “we” in “we’re prepared to defend our diversity” and “we must be ready to fight.” Be sure about this. Sir Keir and the assembled dignitaries are not going to any frontline — nor their families. So who are the “we”?

“We” here means they expect you to go to war — and if you are a parent, to send your sons, and to our shame, your daughters, into battle to protect their values and their very comfortable way of life.

Gen-Z reluctant to fight for Britain

Well, a survey conducted last year by The Times in partnership with YouGov showed that only 1 in 10 of military-age Gen Z (18–27) would fight for Britain. Only two in five are proud of their country. Back in 2004, a similar survey found twice as many expressing pride.

Hermann Goering
Hermann Goering was LuftReichsmarschall in Nazi Germany, in charge of its air force.

Forty-one percent of today’s Gen Z said in no circumstances would they take up arms for their country. If the Russians were landing on the beaches the response could be different, but it may well be that after Covid, Net Zero, and their failure to define a woman, Gen Z — like many of us — do not trust a word of what our current leaders say about the alleged Russian threat, or anything.

The propaganda, which Hermann Goering famously said is all those in power need to get ordinary people to sign up, might not work any more in the social media age — of which, as we saw earlier, the ruling class are terrified.

Sir Keir’s ‘lovers’

So now you know the language and the mindset of the elite. And what about Sir Keir’s “lovers”? That leads to our prayer. When ancient Israel went away from the Lord, the prophet Ezekiel stressed the spiritual aspect and likened their treachery to adultery as they trusted in alliances with pagan nations:

Ezekiel 16:33 They give gifts to all whores: but thou givest thy gifts to all thy lovers, and hirest them, that they may come unto thee on every side for thy whoredom.

When he wrote that, it was already too late. Israel, followed by Judah, had gone into captivity. The judgment had fallen.

Chagossians Misley Mandarin (left) and his father on Île du Coin in the Chagos Islands
Chagossians Misley Mandarin (left) and his father in occupation (Feb 2026) on Île du Coin in the Chagos Islands

And today, Ezekiel’s words perfectly sum up Sir Keir’s Chagos surrender, as well as giving away fishing rights to the EU, planned EU “dynamic alignment”, his kow-towing to China over their spy embassy in London, and their imprisonment of journalist Jimmy Lai.

And the man even had the effrontery to tell the Munich elite: “And I will always fight for what’s best for my country.” (Check out our story and video on Keir Starmer’s Art of the Deal)

Pray for the Lord to raise up able, humble, God-fearing, honest men of truth to lead us. (Exod 18:21)

Because unless and until our smug, self-satisfied establishment once more trust and obey the Lord Jesus — the King of kings of our Christian constitution — then our nation is finished, invaded, and it won’t be the Russians doing it.

Nanosermon Script:

Come with me to the book of Numbers, the fourth book of the Bible, and to Chapter six and verse twenty-two. This passage is known as ‘the priestly blessing’ and it’s going to bless and encourage you today.

Numb 6:22 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Numb 6:23 Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, Numb 6:24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: Numb 6:25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: Numb 6:26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. Numb 6:27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.

Let’s look at the three verses of the actual blessing. Each verse is in two parts. That’s typical of Hebrew poetry, to sort of rhyme two similar thoughts. So, firstly:

The Lord wants to bless you

Numb 6:24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:

What this verse says to me is that the Almighty commands his minister to proclaim his desire to bless his people. If you are one of them, your heavenly Father wants to bless you and keep you.

The Hebrew word for ‘bless’, here, is ‘bârak’. It’s a common word in many Middle East languages. It derives from a root meaning ‘to kneel’.

Men in the Bible would fall to their knees to bless and praise God. But here God is blessing us. How good is that? The Hebrew word for ‘keep’ here is shâmar. But it means more than ‘keep’, it means guard, protect, hedge about as with thorns. If you are his, God is going to protect you from your enemies with a thorn hedge. He is going to guard you, and look out for you.

His face shines on you

Secondly,

Numb 6:25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

You know what it’s like when someone’s face shines upon you. Maybe that happens to you all the time. Or maybe you can’t remember the last time someone looked at you like that.

But the Almighty is going to make his face shine upon each one of his children, and if God is for you, who can be against you?

God is gracious to you

The Hebrew word for ‘be gracious’ is chânan. It means to bend down or stoop in kindness to a subordinate, to bestow favour.

We must agree that the greatest example of God ‘being gracious’ lies in how he became one of us in Jesus and died on the cross to forgive all the sins of each one who puts his trust in him.

But if God grants you favour – and if you walk in his ways he will – then you will have favour with men as well. Doors will open, appointments will be granted, opportunities will arise, apparent co-incidences will spring up, all by the grace of God.

Lift up, not hide, his face

Lastly,

Numb 6:26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

The same Hebrew word is translated firstly as ‘face’ and then here as ‘countenance’. No matter. What does matter is that in the next book in the Bible, in Deuteronomy, God says not that he will ‘lift up his face’ but that he will ‘hide his face’ from his people because of their sin against him.

By being obedient to his word, that will not happen to you. By keeping his commandments the Lord lifting up his face to you will be your constant portion.

Now, if you know any Hebrew at all, you will not be surprised to find out that the word translated ‘peace’ here is the Hebrew ‘Shâlôm’. The word also carries the meaning of safety, well-being, good health, happiness and prosperity.

Your faith plus your walk equals your blessing

Let’s put it all back together. If you have faith in Jesus Christ and walk in his ways, this blessing is for you today:

Numb 6:24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: Numb 6:25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: Numb 6:26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

Social Media, the Weapon Fashioned Against Children

Dr. Hillary Cass, British honorary physician in paediatrics.
Dr. Hillary Cass, British honorary physician in paediatrics.

Social media has misled children into thinking they are transgender, Dr. Hilary Cass has suggested.

According to the author of Cass review, some children felt they did not fit the gender stereotypes they saw online and concluded they must be trans.

The British paediatrician’s 2024 inquiry into NHS gender care for under-18s led to significant changes including a ban on puberty blockers.

She spoke to the media on Sunday after Bridget Phillipson, the Education Secretary, published guidance confirming that primary school pupils would be allowed to change their gender at school.

Stop Transgenderism Now!

‘Children have been weaponised’

Dr. Hilary asserts that Children have been weaponised by both sides of a toxic debate about ‘transgender’ rights.

In an interview, she said there was a “lack of realism about what transition would really mean and how hard it would be” – pointing to “quite intensive medical treatments” and “sometimes quite brutal surgeries”.

She added: “There are a tiny number of people who will never be comfortable with their biological sex, with the gender associated with their biological sex.

“And for them, a medical pathway is the only way they’re going to live their life comfortably. And we don’t understand why that is, but we have to try and help those people thrive as much as the young people who are going to grow out of this.”

For many years, Christian Voice has consistently raised the alarm about the medicalisation and mutilation of children. Long before policy reviews acknowledged the risks, we warned that vulnerable young people were being steered toward powerful drugs and irreversible procedures without sufficient evidence of long-term benefit. Our position has been grounded in a conviction that children deserve protection, careful pastoral support, and time to mature, not life-altering interventions driven by ideology or social pressure.

‘Unrealistic images on social media’

Dr. Cass told the BBC’s Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg programme: “I think children and young people were being given a narrative that it’s not OK to be anything but absolutely typical of the other girls on Instagram.

“I think what has misled children is the belief that if you are not a typical girl, if you like playing with trucks, or boys who like dressing up or that you have same-sex attraction, that means that you’re trans.
“And actually it’s not like that… Those are all normal variations.”

She also warned of “unrealistic images and expectations on social media” when it came to the realities of “what transition would really mean and how hard it would be”, including “quite intensive medical treatments” and “sometimes quite brutal surgeries”.

“That’s a real shame that children have been weaponised.”

She welcomed the draft guidance published by the Department for Education late on Thursday but said it was impossible for it to be “completely foolproof”.

The Government’s draft guidance states that schools should consider avoiding “rigid rules based on gender stereotypes” and should take time to understand children’s feelings while being aware of “potential vulnerabilities”, such as children facing bullying or needing mental health support.

If a child or their parent makes a request for them to socially transition – to have their preferred pronouns respected in the classroom, schools should take a “careful approach”, the guidance says, and discuss it with families, taking account of any clinical advice that may have been received.

Schools should seek parents’ views, only under “rare circumstances where involving parents or carers would constitute a greater risk to the child than not involving them”.

“Watchful waiting” rather than harmful drugs seemed to be a better way of dealing with little boys who thought they were female (but often turned out to be gay), as well as distressed teenage girls who did not want to have female bodies (a massively growing cohort).

The power of online narratives over children

Social media platforms curate images of identity that reward conformity to aesthetic and behavioural norms. Children who feel different, whether because of personality, interests, or emotional struggles can be drawn toward the conclusion that their discomfort signals a mismatch between their body and identity.

Research cited during the review highlighted how online communities can reinforce these beliefs through affirmation loops, presenting transition as a solution to ordinary developmental struggles. This dynamic risks reframing normal variations in temperament and interests as evidence of a fixed identity crisis.

The result is a generation navigating adolescence under intense ideological pressure, often without the maturity required to evaluate long-term consequences.

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image… male and female created he them.

This doctrine affirms both the dignity and the givenness of biological sex. From this perspective, the cultural narrative that identity is self-constructed stands in tension with the biblical understanding that personhood is received, not invented.

Safeguarding Children

If social influences are contributing to confusion, then safeguarding becomes a moral imperative. Children require environments that provide stability, truth, and patient guidance rather than ideological affirmation of every feeling.

Protecting minors does not mean dismissing their distress; it means recognising their vulnerability. Developmental psychology consistently shows that adolescence is a period of identity exploration, making premature medical or social conclusions particularly risky.

The Church, families, and institutions therefore share a duty to prioritise long-term wellbeing over cultural trends.

Ephesians 4:15 Speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things.

For Christians, this moment underscores the need to articulate a coherent vision of human dignity rooted in creation, community, and moral responsibility. The task ahead is not merely to critique culture but to offer a hopeful alternative grounded in truth.

Bank of England’s wave of wokeness

For generations, the Bank of England symbolised sobriety, discipline, and seriousness, an institution where professionalism was reflected even in the understated dress code of the Square Mile. Tradition held that junior staff wore navy, senior figures wore grey, and decorum reinforced confidence in the nation’s financial stewardship.

Today, that sense of institutional gravity appears to be giving way to cultural experimentation.

Under new internal guidance, male staff are told they may wear high heels or make-up, while employees are encouraged to adopt “masculine and feminine presentation within the same outfit.” The document, part of a broader “Trans Equality and Transitioning at Work” policy, suggests that clothing and appearance should reflect fluid identity rather than professional convention.

This shift raises serious questions about priorities. At a time when the Bank itself admits its inflation and wage forecasts have repeatedly proved inaccurate, and when Britain faces what economists warn could be the weakest decade of growth in a century, many households are struggling with mortgage costs and the lingering effects of high interest rates. Public confidence in the institution depends on its focus, competence, and credibility.

The deeper concern is not about clothing itself, but about what it symbolises: a cultural shift in which long-standing norms of professionalism are replaced by ideological frameworks that may have little connection to the Bank’s core mission.

Buffer Zone Bible case appeal refused

Two years on, and a judge has refused to allow Christian Voice National Director Stephen Green to appeal his conviction under ‘Buffer Zone’ legislation in February 2024 by Uxbridge Magistrates for standing in front of the Marie Stopes abortion facility in Mattock Lane, Ealing, in February 2023, displaying a Bible verse:

Psalm 139:13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.

(‘Reins’ is an old expression for ‘kidneys’ or ‘insides’, The quote is from the King James Bible, the one presented to King Charles at his coronation).

Mr Justice Mansfield agreed with the Crown Court judge that it was not necessary to look at the actual circumstances of the case. The mere fact that Stephen was there was enough to walk all over his right to express his religion by standing with a Bible verse in a public place.

High Court 12th February 2026

In October 2024 Judge Hammerton of Isleworth Crown Court agreed with the Magistrates. Advocate Michael Phillips from Christian Legal Centre immediately filed a judicial review of the Crown Court decision in what is known as a ‘Case Stated’. Naturally, Isleworth Crown Court refused to consider the Case Stated. Mr Phillips then filed the papers direct with the High Court.

The High Court refused on papers and again in the hearing on Thursday 12th February 2026. We now appeal that decision direct to the Court of Appeal in London on papers. If they refuse, then the last option is to go to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. An appellant must exhaust all domestic remedies before appealing to the ECHR.

Stephen Green said: ‘I look forward to my conviction being quashed on appeal. In the end, these buffer zones must be ruled unlawful and Christian freedom of expression upheld in this realm.’ But the first step is for the judge to approve my application for an appeal. That is what the hearing is about on 12th Feb.

If you cannot be there in London tomorrow, please pray for justice to be done!

Magistrate’s Verdict & Costs Order

Stephen harassed nobody, nor did he mention abortion. Nevertheless, District Judge Kathryn Verghis ruled that by holding the sign he was guilty of protesting by ‘engaging in an act of approval/disapproval, with respect to issues related to abortion services’.

Judge Verghis said that although the PSPO curtailed his human rights, it was necessary and proportionate to stop what she, and prosecuting barrister Ellis Sareen, accepted was an entirely peaceful protest by Mr Green. Mr Sareen acknowledged there was no evidence of any ‘service user’ suffering any detriment on the day and that the poster was only ‘an oblique reference’ to abortion.

The judge declined to fine Mr Green, the maximum for the offence being £1000, instead giving him a 12-month conditional discharge. Judge Verghis also ordered the preacher to pay Ealing Council prosecution costs of £2600. That was half what they were demanding, by the grace of God and favour from the judge, but still a considerable amount.

Micah 2:1 Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand. 2 And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.

Appeal to Crown Court

On 29th and the 30th October 2024 Stephen appealed against his conviction in Uxbridge Magistrates Court to the Crown Court at Isleworth in South West London.

Judge Alistair Hammerton upheld the magistrates’ court conviction and sentence.
This time, Ealing asked for costs of £7,536.50. In what must be seen as a punitive order, Judge Hammerton granted the costs in full and allowed no time to pay.

Synod Slams the Door on ‘Same-Sex’ Marriage

Charles Oakley was rector of Holy Trinity Church, Wickwar in Gloucestershire.

In a significant development, the Church of England’s General Synod has formally abandoned proposals to introduce stand-alone blessing ceremonies for ‘same-sex couples’ in churches.

Although Synod voted to continue reflecting on the issue in the future, the bishops had already concluded that substantial theological and legal barriers prevent such ceremonies at present. The process exploring these proposals, following a decade of internal debate, is now effectively at an end.

This decision marks a long-awaited moment of clarity.

Genesis 1:27 Male and female created he them.

Stop Transgenderism Now!

After years of uncertainty

In 2023, after ten years of intense and often painful debate, the Church of England resolved that it would not redefine marriage to include same-sex unions, unlike other Anglican provinces such as the Scottish Episcopal Church.

Instead, it proposed “blessings” for ‘same-sex couples’, a compromise that satisfied neither theological conservatives nor campaigners seeking full liturgical recognition. A process was launched to explore how such blessings might be conducted, at a reported cost of approximately £1.6 million.

Now, that process has been halted.

For many believers, this is not a retreat, but a restoration, a recognition that Scripture cannot be reshaped by cultural pressure.

Psalm 119:89, For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

Compassion not compromise

Geoff Crawford / Church of England
Geoff Crawford / Church of England

The Church’s historic teaching has always been clear: marriage is between one man and one woman.

Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Marriage is not merely a social contract, it is a divine ordinance established at creation. To introduce blessing ceremonies for relationships Scripture does not recognise as marriage would have created doctrinal contradiction, blessing what the Church has historically not affirmed. The Synod’s decision signals that biblical authority remains foundational.

Meanwhile, there was emotional testimony during the debate. Some ‘gay’ who claim to be Christians expressed deep hurt. Others warned that liberal members and ‘LGBT’ worshippers were leaving the Church.

Church leaders apologised for the pain felt “on both sides.” That acknowledgement of pastoral distress is appropriate. Christians are called to love all people with genuine compassion. But compassion must never become compromise.

Ephesians 4:15 Speaking the truth in love.

The Church’s calling is not to mirror the culture, but to bear witness to truth, graciously, patiently, and without hostility.

Return to the UK’s Christian Constitution →

Common sense and theological integrity

It is encouraging that Bishops recognised there are theological and legal obstacles to proceeding. In effect, they acknowledged that the Church cannot invent new rites without undermining its doctrinal foundations.

The Anglican formularies, the Bible is not ambiguous on the nature of marriage. To move beyond them would not be development, but departure. A Church untethered from Scripture becomes indistinguishable from the age in which it lives.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Britain needs a Church that stands on Scripture, not shifting sand.

Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock.

May this decision mark not the end of a process, but the beginning of renewed confidence in God’s Word, renewed commitment to biblical marriage, and renewed courage to proclaim truth with both clarity and grace.

SNP spent more than £1m of taxpayer money on defending gender self-ID

The Scottish National Party has spent more than £1.1 million of taxpayers’ money pursuing and defending legal arguments that biologically male transgender individuals should be defined as women in law.

According to the Telegraph, more than £550,000 was spent contesting the landmark 2025 Supreme Court ruling on gender. A further £550,000 was incurred in two additional court battles relating to gender self-identification policy. These sums do not include further legal costs tied to ongoing litigation concerning prison placement policies.

At a time when public services face strain and families struggle with rising costs, the expenditure of over £1 million defending an ideological position raises serious questions about stewardship.
Public funds are not political playthings. They are entrusted resources.

1 Corinthians 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

The Supreme Court Ruling — Biology Affirmed

For Women Scotland (FWS), the feminist group that challenged the legislation, secured a decisive victory in April 2025. The Supreme Court ruled that the term “woman” under the Equality Act 2010 refers to biological female.
The refusal to accept biological distinctions places women at risk, particularly in custodial environments.

Meanwhile, Tess White, Scottish Conservatives’ shadow equalities minister, accused the Government of squandering public money on what she termed a “reckless and unlawful” policy.

For Women Scotland has now confirmed that a “full and final settlement” has been reached regarding its costs. The recovered funds will support ongoing legal action to ensure compliance with the law.

The Scottish Government was subsequently required to reimburse FWS £392,500 in legal costs. When combined with its own legal expenses, the total cost to the public purse exceeded £550,000 for that case alone.

Despite this judicial clarity, additional legal battles followed. The Court of Session had already ruled in 2022 that the Scottish Government exceeded its devolved powers when legislating that transgender women should count as women in measures designed to increase female representation on public boards. That ruling cost a further £216,182.50. The repetition of legal defeat did not halt further spending.

Genesis 1:27 Male and female created he them.

Proverbs 12:15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

The Self-ID Veto and Continued Costs

A separate legal challenge was mounted against the UK Government’s veto of Nicola Sturgeon’s gender self-ID legislation. That proposal would have allowed individuals to change their legal gender through statutory declaration alone.

The petition for judicial review was lost. The legal bill reached £370,474, including £170,000 in UK Government costs.

Even more concerning is ongoing litigation regarding the placement of biologically male transgender prisoners in women’s prisons — a case that could add further cost to the taxpayer. The pattern is clear: defeat, appeal, defeat again — and escalating public expense.

Hosea 8:7 For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind.

Stewardship, Truth, and the Role of Government

The Scottish Government has stated that it accepts the Supreme Court ruling and is undertaking necessary work to comply.

Yet acceptance after repeated defeat does not erase the financial and societal cost. Government exists to uphold order and justice — not to redefine created reality. When ideology supersedes biological truth, legal coherence unravels.

Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

Canada school shooter was transgender teenager

A school shooter who killed eight people during a rampage in a remote part of Canada has been identified as a transgender teenager.

Jesse Van Rootselaar, who was born male but identified as female, shot and killed his mother and brother at home on Tuesday before killing five students and one teacher at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia.

Van Rootselaar, 18, opened fire on police when they arrived and “rounds were fired in their direction”, said Dwayne McDonald, deputy commissioner of the British Columbia Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Van Rootselaar, who police had earlier described as a “gunperson” wearing a dress, died at the school. He was not a student at the time of the shooting.

According to police, the killer began transitioning six years ago.

The death toll was downgraded from ten to nine on Wednesday afternoon. Police said they mistakenly reported a female victim as dead after she was airlifted to hospital in serious condition.

Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness.

Nanosermon Script:

Do you want to turn the world upside down just like the Apostles did? In the Book of the Acts of the Apostles, chapter seventeen, Paul and Silas are in Greece. Let’s read it.

Acts 17:1 Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews:
2 And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,
3 Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.
4 And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.
5 But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.
6 And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, ‘These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;
7 ‘Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus.’

Can we turn the world upside down?

Now quite often, we miss out verse seven, and stop at ‘These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;’ And then we pray, ‘Hey, Lord, can we turn the world upside down, too, please?’

But verse seven tells us how to do it. If you’re saving souls, evangelising, you’re carrying out the mission of the church. Through you, the Holy Spirit is increasing the membership of the Kingdom of heaven, and that has got to be awesome. I love it when I hear of souls saved.

But let’s not get carried away. In itself, that is not turning the world upside down. Paul’s evangelism irritated these unbelievers, but it was not what they picked up on.

Jesus as King of kings

No, they accused Paul and Silas of proclaiming Jesus as the King of kings in the here and now. With that, the Apostles were treading on the toes of the political elite. And Paul did not dispute it and he was not being misquoted. You’ll see the same sentiments in Romans chapter thirteen, Philippians two, in his letters to Timothy, and Colossians.

You might be a member of parliament, a civil servant, a ruler, or a supreme court judge. You might even be Caesar. But how ever high you are, the risen, ascended Saviour is higher than you. There’s another king, one Jesus.

Simply go out with that message, and you will start turning the world upside down. And if that ruler or judge humbles himself before the King of kings, repents and is born of the Spirit in the name of Jesus Christ, and starts to rule under God, well now, the world is starting to get the right way up.

Set the world the right way up

Don’t be like the unbelievers in Thessalonica, bought into the godless secular system. When man is at the top, it’s the wrong way up, but those who are running it think it’s just fine. But when God in Christ is ruling over the kings of the world, the world is the right way up.

Whenever you speak against immorality, even legalised immorality, such as we have in Britain, then you too are turning the world upside down. Why? Because you are holding this world to a better, higher standard, the standard of the King of kings. And if you get arrested, that, as we saw in Acts, is a badge of honour. You’re challenging the devil, the ruler of this age.

These verses challenge you to tell every ruler the Lord brings you into contact with that he is under King Jesus. Some already know, but they need a reminder. So wake up and shake them up. It’s your time to start turning the world upside down.

Could Britain be heading back to backstreet abortions?

0
A baby of eight weeks gestation, just a month younger than the typical age for abortion
Never 'part of a woman's body'. A baby of eight weeks gestation, just a month younger than the typical age for abortion

Members of the House of Lords returned to Committee stage, consideration of the Crime and Policing Bill, with particular focus on Clause 191. The provision would decriminalise abortion for women in relation to terminating their own pregnancies.

This clause was added by the House of Commons last year with a large majority, but without a full consultation or dedicated committee review, prompting serious concern among pro-life peers and observers.

Lords such as Lord Alton of Liverpool spoke forcefully against extending abortion law, warning that the clause would represent a radical shift in public policy and parliamentary procedure.

This proposed change is effectively undoing critical legal protections for unborn children. By removing criminal liability for women who self-administer abortions, the law would incentivise unregulated “DIY” procedures outside proper medical oversight, a return, they say, to be unsafe conditions that existed before the Abortion Act 1967.

“Parliament accepts a crime may have been committed”

Baroness Coffey, speaking in support of Amendment 461A told the House of Lords that abortion law in England and Wales still contains legal restrictions, but that in practice those safeguards are being steadily eroded, describing the latest figures as deeply saddening.

“I completely understand why people have very different views on whether this is right or wrong or similar, or whether this is a healthcare treatment, but we have a law in place that puts restrictions on when abortions can happen. It might perhaps feel that those restrictions are really just lip service.

“I appreciate that there will be people in this Committee who do not care what the number is, it is a woman’s right to choose. I do not agree with, or even respect, that point of view, but I understand it.

“As has already been eloquently pointed out, we are now in a situation where Parliament still agrees that a crime may have been committed, but that, through Clause 191, the person carrying the foetus cannot be held responsible in any way. Therefore, the point of my amendment is to suggest that, instead of relying on good faith from the providers, we move to beyond reasonable doubt.”

Psalm 139:13–14 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

“Good laws require careful thought”

Baroness Monckton of Dallington Forest
Baroness Monckton of Dallington Forest

Baroness Monckton of Dallington Forest has called for amendments to the Crime and Policing Bill that would allow women to terminate their pregnancies at any stage and for any reason.

The Tory peer warned that, left unchanged, the Bill could lead to more women attempting to end their pregnancies beyond the current 24-week limit for terminations.

Lady Monckton is attempting to reverse the change by removing the “radical” Clause 191 from the Bill in the House of Lords.

She said: “Our role as parliamentarians, especially in this House, is to ensure that laws that make it on to the statute book are safe. Good laws require careful thought and prior consideration regarding any unintended consequences. Clause 191 fails to meet these criteria and should not become law. It was hastily added to an unrelated Bill and concerns a proposal that was neither a government manifesto commitment, nor called for by the public, nor subject to even rudimentary scrutiny.

“Let me be clear: the law change proposed by Clause 191 does not relate primarily to one’s views on abortion, on which there will be a range of perspectives in this House. The abortion debate is often presented as pitting the rights of a woman against the rights of an unborn child at varying stages of development.

“Laws exist for a variety of reasons. Sometimes, they exist to deter us from doing things that would cause significant harm to ourselves or others, out of motives that may be devious or simply desperate.”

Proverbs 6:16–17 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood.

“Britain has got a problem”

Miriam Cates MP has proposed a bill to let parents see RSE materials.
Miriam Cates MP says ‘Britain has got a problem’.

Recently, commenting on the latest abortion statistics, Conservative, pro-life commentator and former MP Miriam Cates wrote in The Telegraph that: “Around one in three pregnancies now ends in abortion. This is a moral and economic tragedy. We have become accustomed to record-breaking statistical releases, whether on inflation, energy prices or summer temperatures. But this revelation is not just another official data dump; behind the numbers are 300,000 more lives that will never be lived.”

Ms Cates added that “record abortion numbers are not only an economic concern; they are a social and moral issue too. This is a terrible indictment of our society. The UK is an outlier when it comes to regulation; we allow abortion on demand until 24 weeks gestation, where the European average is just 12 weeks.”

In Parliament last year, Ms Cates also warned that moves toward abortion decriminalisation are “extreme” and contrary to a balanced and humane understanding of both life and law, arguing that such proposals would further erode legal protections for unborn children.

Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

 Abortion stats

Abortion figures in England and Wales have hit record levels. Recent statistics show that there were 277,970 abortions in 2023, an 11% increase on the year before, the highest since the Abortion Act was introduced and independent estimates suggest numbers may exceed 300,000 annually across the UK.

These trends are evidence of a deepening culture of abortion, not simply a problem of law but of societal priorities.

Church leaders and Christian organisations have not been silent. Following last year’s Commons vote to decriminalise aspects of abortion law, the Bishop of London emphasised the need for compassion and care for women in crisis, while also warning that removing legal protections could “undermine the value of unborn life” and leave vulnerable women at greater risk.

We urge Parliament to pursue holistic support, including better counselling, financial assistance, and community care for women and families, rather than legislation that normalises termination. These perspectives stress both moral imperatives and pastoral responsibilities.

‘Why abortion is on the rise’

Former chief executive of the British Pregnancy Advisory Service, the UK's largest independent abortion provider'
Former chief executive of the British Pregnancy Advisory Service, the UK’s largest independent abortion provider’

Ann Furedi, former journalist and abortion rights activist wrote on Spiked Online in relation to the increase of abortion cases: “This kind of uptick in abortion numbers suggests something specific has changed. This has only happened once before in the mid-1990s when a panic about the safety of the most popular contraceptive pills triggered tens of thousands of women to stop taking them.

“Some have attempted to blame the rise on financial insecurity, housing problems and the closure of family-planning clinics. But such explanations don’t cut it. Thirty years working in abortion services taught me that there is no direct correlation between the state of the economy or housing provision and abortion numbers.”

She also wrote that the key driver of abortion is, “likely to have been the government’s decision to allow abortion pills to be sent by post during the Covid lockdown – a temporary allowance that the government later made permanent. Adding that the ability to take a pill at home rather than have to attend an in-person clinic appointment further transformed the perception and experience of abortion.

“Many women found that abortion suddenly became far more acceptable than it had been previously.”

The collision of medical, legal and ethical claims

Pro-abortion organisations and medical bodies have strongly supported decriminalisation, framing it as a matter of healthcare and rights, not criminal law, citing concerns about women being investigated or prosecuted under outdated statutes. However, contest this framing, arguing that law reflects a society’s moral commitments, not merely administrative convenience.

They warn that redefining abortion law without robust ethical debate and safeguards risks treating unborn children as legal non-entities rather than human beings with inherent worth.

A cultural moment of choice and consequence

This week’s Lords debate was more than parliamentary procedure; it was a cultural watershed. We at Christian Voice stress that the abortion debate in the UK is not confined to law but speaks to how society perceives human life, responsibility, and community obligations.

As the Crime and Policing Bill progresses to Report stage, pro-life voices within Parliament and the wider Christian community are urging careful scrutiny of any proposal that could weaken legal protection for the unborn, shift societal norms towards a termination-centric paradigm and most importantly arm people with the rights to take lives that they can not create.

Exodus 20:13 Thou shalt not kill.

This moment calls for prayerful engagement, informed public discourse, and policy that respects both mothers and their unborn children. The coming weeks will reveal whether the Lords uphold the deeper moral tradition that champions life at all stages.

Nanosermon Script:

Why should you read the Bible? Let me give you a wrong reason and then some right reasons.

Here’s the wrong reason. You don’t read the Bible to please God. Reading the Bible, of itself, is not a good work.

I know of someone who really knows the Bible but he doesn’t please God. Yes, it’s Satan. He knows the Bible inside out. He hates it, because it prophesies his downfall, but he knows it. However, in the whole of scripture, there is only one time he ever quoted it. We’ll look at that another time.

Reason No.1: Joy and Rejoicing

So reading the Bible doesn’t please God. There ARE things you can do that will please God. It’s just that reading the Bible isn’t one of them. So why should you read the Bible? Here’s reason one, from the prophet Jeremiah, chapter fifteen and verse sixteen:

Jer 15:16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts. (KJV)

You read the Bible because you are called by God’s name and you want all of God you can get. When you read his word it will give you joy and make your heart rejoice. It will inspire and bless you. That’s a great reason, but let’s have another, from Paul’s second letter to Timothy, chapter three:

Reason No.2: Knowing God’s ways

2Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

I think you can sum all of that up. Doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness are all aspects of one thing, knowing the ways of God better.

The Apostle James says if you think it’s all about hearing the word you’re fooling yourself. You have to be a doer of the word.

The more you read and study the word of God, in humility, loving the Lord and his word, the more you will come to know how he does things and how he expects things to be done. Every day, by reading some more, meditating on what you’ve seen in his word, you’ll draw closer to the heart of God.

Reason No.3: Your daily walk with God

So here’s a third reason. Just think how this will impact your daily walk with God. You’ll find yourself making God-pleasing changes in your behaviour and your relations with others.

One day you’ll realise how powerful it is to forgive a person who wronged you. Another day you’ll suddenly see that you need to pay someone the money you owe him. The Lord may teach you humility, or fortitude, gentleness, or courage.

Day by day you’ll be having a closer walk with God.

Reason No.4: Your prayer life

Fourthly, consider how studying the word of God is going to impact your prayer life. The more you know the heart of God, the more you’ll be praying with the mind of God. And those are the prayers which get answered.

The more you know the Bible, the more you can pray the Bible, quote it in your prayers, remind God of his word. ‘Lord, your word says …’ In any situation you won’t be opening the Bible at random, poking for a verse with your eyes closed. ‘I need to go to Paris. Ah, look, The Queen of Sheba came with a very great train. The Lord is saying take the Eurostar.’

No, you’ll know what the word of God says, just as the Apostles did, and be able to bring that key verse immediately to mind.

Reason No.5: Resisting temptation

Lastly, when temptation comes, you’ll be able to say, just as Christ did to Satan in his temptations, ‘No, the word of God says such-and-such.’

That’s because the word of God is the Sword of the Spirit. It’s an offensive weapon against evil in all its forms. So we’ve found some great reasons for reading the Bible.

Jihadist set to be UK councillor

1

A convicted terrorist who once praised jihad as an act of “compassion” is standing for election to Birmingham City Council, raising grave concerns about the direction of local politics and the standards now being tolerated in public life.

The Daily Mail reports that, Shahid Butt, who is standing as an independent candidate in the Sparkhill ward at May’s local elections, previously served a five-year prison sentence in Yemen for terrorism offences. He and five other UK nationals were convicted in 1999 of plotting to bomb the British consulate, an Anglican church, and a hotel in Aden.

Despite this background, Mr Butt has since worked on the Home Office’s Prevent programme and sat on the West Midlands Anti-Terrorism Steering Committee, an extraordinary fact that will alarm many who expect those roles to be reserved for individuals with unimpeachable records.

Sparkhill is an inner-city ward with a population that is around 91 per cent ethnic minority, with almost 70 per cent identifying as Muslim.

Maccabi Tel Aviv’s involvement

Serious concerns are compounded by Mr Butt’s more recent public statements.

He has supported protests against Israeli football club Maccabi Tel Aviv and urged “every local Muslim” to attend demonstrations in Birmingham last November.

While he told attendees not to bring weapons, footage from one protest shows him declaring:“Muslims are not pacifists, if somebody comes into your face, you knock his teeth out.”

In a 2024 YouTube interview, Mr Butt described violent jihad abroad as an act of “compassion,” suggesting that those who travel to fight in foreign conflicts are motivated by sympathy rather than extremism.

It is therefore deeply troubling that a Muslim man with a past conviction for terrorism now feels able to stand for public office after making such statements, particularly in a historically Christian nation. Were the situation reversed, and a Christian candidate had publicly spoken in this manner about Muslims, it is difficult to imagine that such a candidacy would be tolerated.

Britain remains a Christian country in its heritage, values, and foundations. As such, we stand for peace, love, and righteous leadership, principles wholly incompatible with rhetoric that excuses violence or promotes religious hostility.

Psalm 11:5 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.

Could Britain’s diversity be a curse?

The question of whether Britain’s celebrated diversity could be turning into a societal challenge is becoming more widely debated.

On the one hand, the UK has long positioned itself as a multicultural nation where people of every faith and background can participate fully in civic life. But recent developments have prompted serious reflection on whether that diversity is fostering social cohesion or, in some cases, fragmentation.

One key area of concern is the influence of religious identity in political representation. Across the UK there has been a notable rise in the number of Muslim political leaders and elected officials. For example, Sadiq Khan has served as Mayor of London since 2016 and continues to win re-election, and figures from Muslim backgrounds have attained mayoral roles in other towns such as Brighton & Hove and Blackburn with Darwen in recent years.

In September 2024, A Muslim councillor in Leeds, Mothin Ali was elected joint deputy leader of the Green Party. During his victory speech, Mr. Ali labelled his election a “win for the people of Gaza” before shouting “Allahu Akbar”, meaning “God is the greatest” in Arabic. He later apologised for “any upset” caused.

This political participation simply reflects demographic change and the right of all communities to be represented. However, when political leadership or decision-making roles are occupied by figures whose primary appeal is religious or communal, it can weaken shared national identity and blur commitment to foundational British values.

Exodus 18:21 Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

Godly leadership requires the fear of God,commitment to truth, moral integrity, rejection of corruption and violence.

A man who praises jihad, excuses extremist fighters, and advocates physical retaliation does not meet these biblical qualifications.

Psalm 140:1 Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man.

What is Britain becoming?

The prospect of a convicted terrorist standing for public office is not merely a local controversy, it is a symptom of national decline.

It reflects a country increasingly reluctant to defend its Christian foundations, increasingly tolerant of radical ideologies, and increasingly confused about the difference between compassion and chaos.

Multiculturalism without moral boundaries does not lead to harmony. It leads to fragmentation.

If Britain is to have a future worth passing on to the next generation, it must recover a clear moral vision, one rooted not in political correctness, but in biblical truth.

As Christians, we must pray, speak, and act:

Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
